If I had to rate English, I would give it a "meh." There's just other easier, more beautiful languages out there spoken by a relatively large amount of the global population.

I'd say English is quite beautiful. It has a capacity that a lot of Romance (though not all) languages lack, being in a sort of perfect middle. You can utter the bloodiest, most wrathful sentiment or a poetic, passionate one and English will be suited to both.

Genderising nouns is irritating, inefficient and sexist.

Which is about the only difficult thing about Romance languages. Meanwhile, English has countless exceptions and idioms that make absolutely no sense to anybody but a native speaker.

French has an arseload of those, my friend.

Irregular verbs, for example.

I'm not saying it lacks the capacity to be. Indeed, in the right hands, every language is beautiful.

I don't hate English, but I don't particularly like it. In fact, I'm not crazy about languages. Words suck at conveying what you actually want to say.

Also, all languages have idioms. English is just blessed.

Also, idioms are geographic. A native speaker doesn't necessarily know what is meant by down in the mouth as it may not be used where he lives.

Of course you can fly, you can make fire come from your fingers.

European explorers discover that flying isn't as amazing as firelighters.
