How is health insurance usually provided in your nation?
It is usually provided by the state through tax.

How may have basic coverage? Comprehensive?
Most people have health insurance from the government, and it is comprehensive. All people are in the Basic Health Program, which is for emergencies and the like.

How many in your nation are uninsured?
Only a small proportion of our nation is not under the Government Health Program, which is comprehensive healthcare provided by the State (ie not emergencies) and adds around 5% to your overall tax bill (so, say, your original bill was 43% of your income, with the GHP you'll be charged 48%).

Is there a government-run health insurance system?
See above.

What is the average health insurance premium for an average policy? Deductibles? Co-pays?
Again, provided by the state, but believed to cost the state around T$15 000 or US$2250 per person per annum.

What is the extent of the private health insurance market?
It's very small - people, for some reason (probably historical) aren't trustworthy of businesses.

Are hospitals required to admit those in distress into care?
Yes, they are.

How is medical malpractice handled in your nation? If damages are awarded, what range do they fall in?
Medical malpractice falls under civil law, or criminal law if the said person broke the law in regards to this. They tend to fall into the T$10 000 range, or US$15000, for small cases, but suing is somewhat rare in the TBRE.

How is health insurance usually provided in your nation?
What on earth is health insurance?

How many have basic coverage? Comprehensive?
Health... coverage? What does that even mean? Everybody has access to whatever level of healthcare is necessary to meet their needs and desires.

How many in your nation are uninsured?
Given that we don't even know what health insurance is, we feel pretty confident in stating that all 8 trillion or so citizens of the Exaltation are completely without any form of health "insurance".

Is there a government-run health insurance system?
No.

What is the average health insurance premium for an average policy? Deductibles? Co-pays?
The question does not make sense.

What is the extent of the private health insurance market?
Health insurance... market? You mean you actually use a market system for something so easy, simple, and automated as to be costless?

We are forced to conclude that you actually use money for things. How uncivilized.

Are hospitals required to admit those in distress into care?
Yes.

How is medical malpractice handled in your nation? If damages are awarded, what range do they fall in?
If the automated medical systems somehow fuck up (and who ever heard of something like that?), any damage would be repaired pretty much effortlessly.

Doctors accused of malpractice are tried by a panel of senior doctors and if they are found guilty they lose their license and have to pay compensation to the people they injured based on the cost of the care needed to reverse their incompetence.
Malpractice is a rarity, but it happens every couple of years.

I won't post my answers to the questions, but rather this paragraph:

Healthcare is provided by the government and is paid for from people's taxes. (People are allowed to have health insurance but, as a result of the previous sentence, less than 10% do.)
Please note: Central Lothian is the direct successor to Mid Lothian*. As a result, I am still called Rebecca, I am still a Grammar Nazi and most information pertaining to ML also applies to CL (although I will be taking this time to change a few things).

* - And I may refer to the country as Mid Lothian. If I do, assume that I mean Central Lothian. (And not to be confused with "Midlothian" - I'm using that as a fascist version of CL.)

All healthcare is free for our nation's citizens, paid for through taxes. You have to pay fees if you're a tourist or want cosmetic procedures. There is no such thing as insurance here.

Through private companies. The Religion and Spirituality Budget covers the health costs of: old people, veterans, those in the mental hospitals, orphans, widows, and those who truly can not work for themselves.

Laissez-Faire wrote:How may have basic coverage? Comprehensive?

Hospitals are required by law to 1) not discriminate for any reason and 2) accept anything that enters their doors and provide to them life-saving/necessary/emergency surgeries and procedures, no matter what the cost.
As such, everyone has de jure and de facto basic coverage.
Comprehensive coverage is a privilege afforded to those who want private insurance.

Laissez-Faire wrote:How many in your nation are uninsured?

Most every farmer (and farmers' family) are self-sustaining and considered "the working poor", that that they can really tell or care. They are not ensured. Private insurance is usually for city-slickers.
Those in company towns (truck system, "company store") usually receive health coverage from the company town's doctor(s).
The Free Market also has employers compete to offer the best benefit packages. Health is important in this.

Laissez-Faire wrote:Is there a government-run health insurance system?

There is no universal or national health insurance system. Even the Great Pension, which is a guaranteed check-per-month to seniors, is only a (fat) cash payment. However, nursing homes provide all medical needs for their patrons, as do the state's mental hospitals and parochial institutions.
In theory, though, the truck system (company towns) can qualify, in part, as municipal government. Since company towns own the land, the scrip, and the food, and everything else the employees do, they also, naturally, provide the cash payments for their medical needs. Different truck systems do this in different ways, but all of the company towns have some form of health assistance. Some create their own and place all their employees in its pool, using profits from the company to substitute employee payroll deductions (because employees are paid in private scrip, not real cash) and pay for their needs. Others contract a privatized health insurer and simply enroll all of their employees into it, and when an employee gets sick, the company's treasury pays the co-pay from its profits.
There is no real obligation to do this, but again, the Free Market tends to incentivize them to do so to attract people whose souls will eventually be owed to the company store.

Laissez-Faire wrote:What is the average health insurance premium for an average policy? Deductibles? Co-pays?

It varies widely by private insurer or the institution covering them. Every plan is different.

Laissez-Faire wrote:What is the extent of the private health insurance market?

The Religion and Spirituality Budget covers the health costs of: old people, veterans, those in the mental hospitals, orphans, widows, and those who truly can not work for themselves.

Everyone else must buy private insurance, receive it as an employer benefit, or go without. The Church often pays the premiums for those without.

Laissez-Faire wrote:Are hospitals required to admit those in distress into care?

Yes. No hospital can turn anyone or anything away from necessary/life-saving/urgent/emergency medical care.

Laissez-Faire wrote:How is medical malpractice handled in your nation? If damages are awarded, what range do they fall in?

Medical malpractice is handled by small claims' courts, normally, and they are always civil in nature.
To prevent frivolous litigation, the law caps the compensation to the exact cost of repairing the error plus ten percent extra as "apology hush money".
If the patient dies, the cap is the equivalent of one million Americalandese dollars ($USD).

Medical malpractice is one of the few items to have a statute of limitations. If the patient lives, the expiry is two years. If the patient dies, there isn't one.

There must also be a burden of proof, and said burden falls to the patient. Courtroom slang goes with "no tear, no tort". It's not literal, but it means that if you can't show the scar, display the rupture, or prove the damage, you can't go to the court.

How is health insurance usually provided in your nation? We have no health "insurance". Healthcare is considered a basic public service, just like law enforcement.

How may have basic coverage? Comprehensive? Every person on the Voerdish soil has "comprehensive coverage"

Most healthcare is completely free for citizens and residents, and non-emergency care requires only a 20.00 NSD co-payment for non-residents. Advanced and uncommon procedures require payment, but you can buy private supplemental insurance for these.

Unnecessary procedures, including sex changes and aesthetic surgeries require full payment.

For public healthcare, it's all included in their tax, and therefore free.
For private healthcares, they may vary, as there are various kinds for different kinds of illness.

But unlike many countries, we do not allow hospitals to decline patients or disrupt their private rights due to their financial difficulties.

How is health insurance usually provided in your nation?
Health insurance is provided via two ways. The first is through the public system, where the government provides basic health plans according to Ministry of Health guidelines. The second is through private insurance companies.

How may have basic coverage? Comprehensive?
83% of the population has comprehensive coverage, with 16.2% on basic health plans.

How many in your nation are uninsured?
0.8% officially. This can be for a number of reasons, the most common being tourists or expats who have not yet transferred their original insurance coverage over to an equivalent Valclusian plan.

Is there a government-run health insurance system?
Yes.

What is the average health insurance premium for an average policy? Deductibles? Co-pays?
For private insurance, it varies by company. For government policies, the payments are taken out of taxation.

What is the extent of the private health insurance market?
83% of the people are on private insurance.

Are hospitals required to admit those in distress into care?
Yes. By law, hospitals are required to take all emergency patients in regardless of whether or not the hospital is private or public. All hospital staff are also forbidden by law to discriminate against patients in an emergency situation.

For all non-emergency matters, such as elective sugreries, private hospitals have the right to refuse treatment if they feel that the patient may not be able to fulfill their obligations.

How is medical malpractice handled in your nation? If damages are awarded, what range do they fall in?
Medical malpractice is treated very seriously and the scentences vary according to the severity of the malpractice and whether or not the malpractice was intentional or accidental.

Damages for accidental malpractice are between a few thousand in compensation to tens of thousands. Intentional malpractice damages can range from tens of thousands to millions, again depending on the severity.

How is health insurance usually provided in your nation? It's called "don't stand in the way of a blaster."

Mental health - The Debugging Center does what its name implies for free. Upgrades, on the other hand, will cost you. Cash.

How may have basic coverage? Comprehensive? None and none.

How many in your nation are uninsured? Everybody. The only way we'd buy insurance is if it covered damage resulting from acts of violence we instigated. Guess what no insurer in their right mind would cover even for a million Energon Cubes!

Is there a government-run health insurance system?

What is the average health insurance premium for an average policy? Deductibles? Co-pays?

What is the extent of the private health insurance market?
N/A for all of these. The government thinks it's pretty silly to make people use some card for Debugging. It's not like anyone is disqualified!

Are hospitals required to admit those in distress into care? The Debugging Centers will repair glitches caused by coding or hardware errors for free, and of course, it does take emergency cases. It will also give you replacement chips on a regular schedule for free. Checkups are also free, and asymptomatic glitches will be fixed at this time.

Physical errors? Get out your wrench or hire a mechanic. Physical damage is easy enough for people to fix on their own in most cases. Problems that require that the patient's motion capability be taken offline, like engine replacements, do require a mechanic. These problems almost always give plenty of warning signs so the person can save up for a new engine and installation before it's too late. Exceptions are rare enough that it doesn't justify offering free mechanical work.

How is medical malpractice handled in your nation? The crooked or incompetent mechanic will be dismantled alive, and his own parts used to replace the defective ones he installed.

If damages are awarded, what range do they fall in? The combined parts value of a crooked or incompetent mechanic can run over a million Cubes if he has high-level upgrade modifications. This value, however, is almost never realized. The angry ex-customers who dismantled him usually want the parts to put into themselves - and replace the defective ones they were originally sold.
