Starblaydia, when are you officially going to come back to the NS Sports scene again? It is pretty weird to see you in the 100s ranking.

The City of Emberton's Bid for the Games of the Seventh Olympiad

THE TECHNICAL BIT

Scorination
Xkoranate will be used for the Games, version 0.3.3. The 0-100 system put in place for the VII Winter Olympics to decide ranks will be used.

Schedule
The provisional schedule for the Games will take place over the course of four and a half weeks, with the date of the Opening Ceremony no later than Friday 22nd June, and ideally Saturday 16th June. The competition would start before this, though, with the first round of group play in the men's and women's football, the ranking rounds of the men's and women's archery, and qualifying for the men's and women's artistic gymnastic competitions taking place between Wednesday 20th and Friday 22nd.

The schedule would be a “half-speed” schedule – essentially providing two scorinations for each IC “day”, actually taking two RL days. In other words, the first scorination of the Games proper would be Day 1's “morning” events; scorination the following day would be for Day 1's “afternoon” events.

Additional Medal Events
The following events, listed as optional events in the current official events list, would be held in addition to those on the mandatory list:

Boxing: Women's Heavyweight
Canoeing: Women's C1 500m, Women's C2 500m, Women's C1 Slalom, Women's C2 Slalom
Fencing: Men's Team Epée, Women's Team Sabre
Gymnastics: Men's Rhythmic Individual, Men's Rhythmic Group
Rowing: Women's Coxless Fours, Women's Lightweight Coxless Fours
Synchronised Swimming: Men's Duet, Men's Team
Wrestling: Women's Greco-Roman 48kg, 55kg, 63kg, and 72kg

Demonstration Sports
OCOGE are happy to endorse demonstration events with required support (seven NOCs in this instance). However, no demonstration sports will be host-scorinated. Anyone wishing to propose a demonstration sport should explicitly state who will be scorinating, and how – OCOGE (OOC: me) reserves the right to reject demonstration sports where these criteria are not met to their satisfaction.

THE CIVIC PRIDE BIT

The City
Emberton is the capital and cultural centre of sports-mad Krytenia. A bustling metropolis with good internal and international transport links, the city is known as Krytenia's “Jewel In The Crown”. Many of the outer suburbs were designed to be “garden cities”, full of green spaces; the centre, meanwhile, is all skyscrapers and charming older buildings. Krytenia's status as a melting pot of ethnicities and cultures, with Emberton at its epicentre, means almost all nations will find some of their countrymen here.

The Olympic Park
Built around the existing Isserson Stadium, which will be expanded to over 200,000 capacity for the event, the Olympic Park is the centrepiece of the bid. Built on former industrial land in the Lowess area, the Park will feature the Olympic Village and Media Centre, the velodrome, aquatics centre, five multi-use arenas for various sports, the BMX track, and the National Hockey Centre.

Riverside Exhibition Centre
On the banks of the Diord in the Eastgate area of Emberton, the REX Centre is a huge building designed for exhibitions, expositions, and conventions. All eight of its halls will be used; the boxing finals, among other things, will be held here.

Westgate Park
Emberton's largest green space will be a combination “fan park” and venue, playing host to road cycling and the triathlon. Outside these events, it will be a communal meeting place for supporters and locals alike to rub shoulders and enjoy live music and entertainment.

Further Afield
Handball, basketball, indoor volleyball, and hockey preliminaries will be held not just in Emberton, but also in other central Krytenian cities, including Avidia, Ellisham, Diorville, Secklow, Bletcham, Stratford, Faversham, Tuvera, and Monthuez. Football preliminaries will be held further field, at venues across the country.

NYAQs
What's a NYAQ? It's a Not Yet Asked Question, of course! If you have one, ask away.

That's ensuring that there are equivalent events for both genders. It's not only those two events, all the events listed (save for the fencing) are for this purpose. Men don't do rhythmic gymnastics or syncho swimming in real Olympics either.

This are some questions from the EOC (Euskirribakondaran Olympic Committee), OOCly (because we think they are important) and ICly just to build more IC information about the bid.

OOC Questions
1. We kind of feel sorry for asking this, but since we were not as involved with the Winter Olympics as we should have we have to ask this (plus, newcomers will have the same questions):

The 0-100 system put in place for the VII Winter Olympics to decide ranks will be used.

Which ranks are decided?... And how does the 0-100 system work?

2. Is there already an specified time of RP cutoff for the whole days, or a range of time.... or it will vary depending on the day?

3. How is going to work the limit of entries? (And this question refers to single teams, masters and puppets, and also combined teams + master)

4. Will there be an specific criteria for who can or cannot scorinate the demonstration sports?

IC Questions (You can decide to not answer these questions of course, but I think it'd be interesting you'd answer them)
1. Avidia, Ellisham, Diorville, Secklow, Bletcham, Stratford, Faversham, Tuvera, and Monthuez are too far away from Emberton? How is the transport going to be between those cities and the main host city?

2. Will there be a fast press acreditation system that ensures the work of our TV/Radio/etc broadcasters in Krytenian lands?

3. Is there an important legacy of the project for the Krytenian:
* peoples?
* environment?
* youths?

4. (And this is more a question coming from my curiosity) Which are the official languages of Krytenia? English and Spanish?

1. When signups are opened, you will be able to set a skill rank for each athlete, that skill rank being between 0 (only here for the beer) and 100 (big gold medal favourite). The average will be 50 per entry, so if you enter 20 athletes/teams, this will give you 1,000 points to divvy up between them.

2. At the moment, I'm looking at a cutoff time between 10pm/midnight BST; this is 5-7pm EDT, 11pm-1am in Central Europe. Some days may have an earlier cutoff, depending on my days off work, however these would be noted in the schedule should the bid be successful.

3. I am going to have a somewhat lower limit of 400 entries per master nation. One puppet per nation will be able to send up to 250 entries. Combined teams will be treated as one nation, and entries limited accordingly.

4. Parties scorinating the demonstration sports will be those with a clear scorination plan and device that I can trust to host fairly. These people are very unlikely to be inexperienced hosts; I'm looking at the likes of Liventia, CH, and TBI here.

Euskirribakondara wrote:IC Questions

1. The cities chosen to share hosting duties with Emberton for hockey and the indoor team events are all within 60 miles (100km) of Emberton; Ellisham, Avidia and Diorville are all within 30 miles (50km). All are well linked by Krytenia's trunk road and rail systems with the exception of Monthuez, which is in the Monteste mountain range and less well served by roads. We advise rail travel to Monthuez. All event tickets and press passes will come with a free travelcard affording 40% off all travel on public transport within Emberton and between cities hosting Games events. Some of the cities hosting football matches will be further out; OCOGE advises contacting the Krytenia Tourism and Travel Board; contact information is at www.visitkrytenia.kt/contactus.

2. Yes; however, media organisations are advised to apply well in advance to ensure press packs are received in a timely fashion.

3. Most of the venues are already in situ. The project will create an estimated 2,500 jobs for locals, and provide regeneration of the Lowess area of Krytenia. Building and execution of the Games is aimed at being as carbon-neutral as possible. In addition, several temporary venues will become community sports facilities following the Games.

4. English is the only official national language of Krytenia. Spanish, however, is an official provincial language of 27 of the 37 provinces of Krytenia, and widely spoken everywhere. French is an official provincial language in Monteste (including Monthuez), and Welsh is an official provincial language in three provinces in the north-east of the country, where New Cefn is slated to be a host city for football. Visitors are advised to speak English where possible, though roughly 90% of those employed in the tourism and service industries speak fluent (or at least semi-fluent) Spanish. Games documentation is available in most widely spoken languages on request; contact OCOGE early to ensure this is made available to you.

Oh, the skill modifier. I got confused with the word 'rank', sorry... But thanks for answering :D

Just one puppet per nation?

-snip-

The EOC thanks the OCOGE for the attention and time spent on the special questions made by this party. On another comment, the EOC wants to congratulate the OCOGE for putting up a very good bid from Emberton; and until further notice, the EOC fully supports this plan. The worries expressed for transport, communication, legacy of the project and media acreditation have received very good answers in the basis of adequate argumentation.

Without wanting to speak for Krytenia, I think that's completely understandable. The two puppet exception put in for the 7th Winter Olympics was exactly that — an exception, not the norm. Given that the Summer Olympics are far larger, he doesn't need to be dealing with an extra 250 athletes from a nation that won't be RPing.

That's exactly it. Not only does it add a needlessly large amount of athletes, additional countries means more teams to squeeze into the (already likely to be quite crowded) team events.

I already know which puppet I will be sending in additon to Bears Armed. It's one that hasn't competed internationally yet, and is only a puppet on the OOC level because IC the relationship is more along the lines of
"Them? Eugghh! No connnection at all, I assure you, thank you verrry much...."
Some people are going to dislike them, I expect, but they should provide considerable RP potential for other players as well as for myself...

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
