Part 1

The pre-season festivities begin with the 3rd Charity Shield match, this year featuring League champions Bugny FC against recently relegated, yet still reigning FAS Cup holders, Riverside. Both teams opted to rest a majority of their starters, as they want to stay fresh going into their respective season openers. A donation of $50,000 in the name of the winning club will be payed to the respective charities. Bugny will be playing for the Saint-Étienne Children's Hospital in downtown Bugny, while Riverside will be playing for the Downtown Athletic Rehabilitation Center, which is home to the treatment and rehab of all athletes suffering from career ending and life threatening injuries.

Three high scoring games today, first out of the block was Les Alliés and the beatdown of Longview. Leandre Pahlke scored twice, and with a powerful shot from the top of the box by Celebrindal, put an exclamation point on the day to seal the victory. Next was Arçon's turn to rack up the goals. It was the vlad Kurtz show, as he rumbled through the Royalwich defense on his way to a hat trick. Then, during the primetime matchup, midtable runners Pays de Croix laid the smackdown on Real Gilley, 4-1. Andrew Barry scored twice and fellow forward Horace Romilly scored another goal.

"Enough is enough, and it's time for a change," were the words that sparked controversy within the Ville-DuPont ranks. Kihxaw Jahp, a Carmadin national teamer who recently signed with the Hawks, has been up in arms over the teams lack of ability. Over ten first 10 games, VDP has only won one, and they currently sit at the bottom of the League 1 table. "It's not my fault they keep conceding penalty kicks game after game," he said in a recent press conference. "I've done my best to help the team, but this has been the final straw. I wish to play in the Premier League, and I won't suit up for the Hawks anymore this season until I do." The Ville-DuPont board had no choice but to sell the keeper, but only two offers came back and both were from the bottom two teams. Universal United and Dudlek FC both wanted the services of the Carmadin national teamer, and ultimately Jahp decided to go with the Pirates of Dudlek. "There defense seems to have more communication between them, but their current keeper isn't too spectacular. I think I'll fit in nicely." Dudlek currently sit 11th, just out of relegation, and it'll take some time before they steer clear of the danger zone.

2019: Part 1

Hello, and welcome back to the start of another great football season in Saugeais. A number of team have made intersquad and international transfers this past year, some of the more notable ones are:

Montbenoit singed Fraquistain Junior, a 30 year old midfielder from Capivara Group, the first player from that nation to play in the FAS.
Metalton from League 1 signed Vlad Kurtz, formerly of Arçon, to a two year deal. The Kiaser Colonial was a fixture for the Archers for 4 years since joining the FAS.
Zenegan youth prospects Bonnaya and Onuoha Zulu signed long term deals with Arçon to help bolster the front line, which was rapidly declining due to age.

This year's FAS Charity Shield will pit newly crowned Les Alliés against FAS Cup winners Dudlek FC. The Archers celebrates their first League title in the new FAS Cup era, started back in 2011. Dudlek FC are relishing in their second FAS Cup victory in the past 4 years, defeating Arçon on penalty kicks. The two teams will square off in this pre-season matchup that will have the Titans of Les Alliés playing for the Les Alliés Children's Hostpital, located in the northwest district of the city, and Dudlek will play for the Have a Heart Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps fund the research, development, and treatment of heart-related disorders.

Out of the two high scoring affairs on the day, Terrance Studwick's performance stands out above the rest. Not only did he score twice, but he was also the assistant to the other two, feeding them to teammates Evan Danell and Earl Barret. Bugny and Riverside put on a classic shootout, going back and forth until finally in the 87th minute, a strike from Erathore national Daiki Ryota sealed the win for the Bears in the opener.

This year's Charity Shield will actually feature a rematch of the FAS Cup final from last year. Les Alliés, the winners of the Premier League, will face off against Bugny FC, who defeated the Titans 2-1 to lift the Cup. Both teams are known for their offensive prowess, as they were the top two teams in the scoring department, but lack a little on the defensive side of the ball. Bugny has the stronger of the two keepers in Mikelatz Elizalde, but the Titans hope that their rookie Esme Gibb can follow in the footsteps of the recent transfered Alecko Weiler, whose 11 clean sheets have taken him away to the Cotdelapomais club Worcester Hearts. The two clubs will be playing for their respective local Children's Hospitals: the Titans for the Les Alliés Downtown Children's Hospital, and Bugny for the First National Children's Hospital.
