Vakhb Darshek was never seen after the Great Battle that vanquished Katothwa Re and is presumed to have died in the struggle, so his grateful people chose to honor his memory in naming and reclaiming their country.

ETA: When Wochiks first encountered English speaking explorers, the Wochik pronunciation of Wo'n Darshekeen (combined with the English-speakers' unfamiliarity with the Wochik language, Katothwa Re) led the newcomers to label the nation Wonderchicken on their maps. This corruption of the nation's actual name was somewhat exacerbated by the name by which most Wochiks refer to the revered Father of their nation, General (Vahkhb, in Katothwa Re) Tuvahn Darshek. Already in a frame of mind to hear "chicken" from the nation's name, the explorers mis-heard the Vahkhb's name as "Bob the Wonderchicken," and the rest, as they say, is history.
