Gordon Campbell wished that the cicumstances he had visited Highroyds City Stadium were for more pleasant endeavours. He was not here for the football game between The Kiaser Colonies and Ocaterra. He was here to solve a disappearance or possible murder. During the last game a Mr. Simon Black had been taken by two men dressed in black. His friend, Gerald Brook, was the only witness but he had been attacked and restrained at the time by two other men. He had told Campbell that he had not seen the registration number of the car Mr. Black had been taken away in but he did say that it had come down the road towards them as they were leaving the stadium. Campbell was also certain that by now the men would come for Mr. Brook as they would need a hostage to get Mr. Black, who had no family, to speak. This in Campbell's mind was one of the smaller cases he had been asked to observe and he was sure he would crack it easily. He had only ventured into the stadium to lose his accomplice, Tom Simpson. Simpson had been cautious to believe him when he told him they were going to the match. He knew that Campbell had little or no interest in sports and anything out of the ordinary was almost certainly the business of working on a case. A roar erupted from the crowd. The Kiaser Colonies had scored their second goal of the match. It was nearing half time and the hooliganism was, in his mind, a notorious killer of logical thought. He decided that now was the time to leave.
"Going to the bathroom Tom. I will return in one piece no need to worry," he said. Simpson looked up at Campbell as he departed. He knew something was up. once out of sight he took a left. He had not failed to notice that for the men in the car to know what exit to drive to, there would need to be someone watching Mr. Black as he left. He also deduced that it was highly improbable that they had purchased tickets near enough to him so they would need to come in another way and out without Mr. Black seeing them. Somewhere there was no staff checking for tickets or too many people. Campbell knew exactly where such an entrance was. It was perfect for all reasons. It was the stairs through the pipe room. This was only open to staff and only a few electricians or plumbers, possibly no one at all at the time. He had "borrowed" the id card of a steward while entering the stadium for opening the door. Thankfully there was nobody there now either. As soon as he looked at the back of the door he had seen the signs of a forced entry. It was easy to tell that they had nothing to break the door with. They dents were that of a man charging with his shoulder. He had seen such marks compared to others throughout other cases. He came to the bottom of the stairs and opened the door. As he had expected there was a car waiting and three men were waiting beside it. They were clad in black and one was nursing his right shoulder. He noted this possible weakness. Then he looked to the other two. One of them had a pistol in his pocket. This was a dangerous one now. Just how he liked it. he strolled out along the alleyway. The men turned to look at him. None too happy that someone had come across them. He was a witness that could not be left. Campbell stopped as they advanced.
"Do any of you happen to know a Mr. Simon Black?" he quizzed. The men stopped and looked at each other surprised. Then the man with the gun spoke.
"You shouldn't be here. It's dangerous in the alleyways of Highroyds Mr.?"
"Campbell. Gordon Campbell," he replied.
"It was nice knowing you Mr. Campbell. Get him," he said as he nodded his head towards Campbell. The men began to advance towards him. The man with the sore shoulder swung at him with his left arm. He stepped back and ducked a little. The man swung with his right. Gordon used this as an opportunity. He ducked, moved left, rose up, grabbed the attacker by his shoulder and his wrist then pulled his arm behind his back. He shouted with pain. The second man attempted a punch but Campbell blocked it with the first man's right shoulder. Another shout and the second man tried another punch which Campbell blocked with the man's left shoulder. As the second man prepared another punch, Campbell threw the other into him. He hit him straight on the jaw, which broke leaving the first man lying in agony on the ground. The remaining attacker charged at him. He dropped to the floor and kicked the attackers legs out from under him. He fell hard on his face and broke his nose. As Campbell got to his feet he heard a gun being cocked behind his head.
"Impressive Mr. Campbell. Very impressive. But we cant let you stop our plans. Goodbye," the third man had just finished his sentence when Campbell heard a blow being struck to his head, then the sound him hitting the ground. He looked up and saw Simpson.
"Tom. How pleased am I to see you?" said Campbell.
"Very I should imagine. What were you thinking?" Simpson asked. Before he could reply they heard the engine of the car start. It was reversing for them. They dived opposite sides from each other. Simpson picked up the gun and fired at the driver then the wheels. The car stopped. Campbell opened the door. The driver was alive. He had only been hit in the shoulder.
"Where's Mr. Black and who do you work for and where is he?" Campbell asked.
"Warehouse 1 on the old harbour. I don't know who we work for. We never knew his name. Only his initials. R B, we were told to bring Mr. Black and another man we were waiting for to St Martin in West Zirconia" he replied. Campbell knew at once who it was. Richard Brook. Master criminal. He closed the door of the car. Just then a number of stewards and several police officers arrived at the scene. Campbell explained everything to them. That was an easy case. Now the hard part began. The game of cat and mouse that would cross boarders and oceans in which he must find Brook. There was no telling what he was up to but it would need to be stopped.

The Magazine for Monks

An interview with new Archregimancy national manager Fr. David of the Woods

By Fr. Irenaeus the Inquisitive

Fr. David, there are those who question your appointment as national team manager.

So I've been given to understand.

Do you think this has anything to do with your notorious previous dissolute lifestyle as the publicly genderqueer Errinunderan owiavi?

I see we're getting straight to the point! <laughs>

You'll forgive me, I hope, Fr. David - for I am clearly unworthy - but there are many monks in the Archregimancy who have raised this issue.

And rightly so. My former lifestyle was a wretched one indeed, dominated by the constant consummation of fleshy lusts and desire. It is not a period of my life of which I'm proud. But I have repented. I have done penance. I am truly and sincerely devoted to the Orthodox monastic lifestyle. I would remind my many doubters out there of the meaning of the sacrament of confession, that in confession, the sacrament of repentance, we come to Christ and receive His divine forgiveness. We are allowed once more to enter into Holy Communion with Him in the Church. We are reinstated into that life which we received in baptism and are renewed with that power which we were given in chrismation. And I have most sincerely repented.

But if I can ask the most delicate of questions....

Is this former genderqueer really a man?

Yes, that one...

My masculinity has been checked and personally vouched for by His Holiness Metropolitan Mark of the Greatest Lavra. I assume no higher authority is needed?

Those should be fairly unimpeachable credentials. If we can briefly turn to football...

Please! <laughs>

The World Cup qualification campaign is already underway, and it looks like your doubters have been provided with further ammunition after that disappointing draw with Whirl Islands.

Well, I can't pretend that the result that God, in his infinite but unknowable wisdom, so willed to occur wasn't somewhat disappointing. But these things happen in football - look at the Holy Empire's result. Ouch!

But still, conceding two goals in the last 15 minutes after leading 2-0... Not the best of starts, surely?

There are, no doubt, those who will claim that the penalty he gave away means that His Holiness Manuel is not as skilled in footballing defence as he is skilled in defending Orthodoxy from the serpentine machinations of Catholicism. But frankly, that was a shocker of a decision by the Krytenian referee - who no doubt consorts with the vilest of lustful heretics in his spare time - and fair play to Whirl Islands, they never gave up. Gamboa really drove his lads forwards when a lesser team might well have given up.

I've heard it said that there are no easy games at this level.

It's a cliche, but it's true. But let us not panic. I for one hope that St Gregory the Theologian the Archbishop of Constantinople, whose day we commemorate tomorrow, shall inspire us to a better result tomorrow through the wisdom of his theological insight. Here's another cliche... There's still everything to play for. One 2-2 draw away from home against a rising team need not find us throwing ourselves into the pit of fire just yet!

Press Release by the 19th Century Beards FA

We are delighted to welcome the great footballing nation of Bettia to play in our small country. Bettia are of course two time World Cup champions according to our sources, and are quite well known across 19th Century Beards, and are applauded for their attacking style of play so I've heard from many a football fan.

People are saying, because of their fear of the color red (known as Rhuddophobia), they will not be able to play here, because we play in an all red kit and red is a favored color of ours. We have of course made necessary arrangements for the Bettian fans. Our national football team will be wearing their third choice kit, and will also be doing so during the 'away leg' of the match. The third choice kit has a blue top and a yellow shirt. We have also banned all fans from wearing red, and no red cards shall be given out. We will use two yellow cards to signify a sending off. We will also have ambulances and medics on standby in case somebody has a panic attack.

This will also be 19th Century Beards first international game at home, and a good test for the pitch. A test game was played and the pitch seemed OK. There might be a minimal chance of the ball going off the pitch to the left side and into the River Ribble. We have three extra balls available. If they all go into the river, we will be forced to use 'fly-aways'* but we hope it won't resort to that.

We hope for a good match and hopefully a win over Bettia. Go Beards!

*Fly-aways are lighter balls which are filled with air. They lift easier and are more guided by the wind.

I know it may sound ridiculous, but it can prepare you for a distant future when Val Kylx has to retire. It can also help you write a creative RP.

Scrap that, Birolika's idea is awesome.

That might be the first time one of my ideas hasn't been met with the response, "Fine, but where are you going to get all those yaks from?"

Aroras Leave Phoenis Seeing Red

Bettia.................1 (Susilo 64)
Phoenigetuzstha....0

Bettia kicked off their World Cup campaign with a narrow win at Tiddles Park, but thanks to their opponents turning up with hideously red badges on their shirts, the home team struggled throughout.

Roared on by a capacity crowd of 102,000, many of whom wore the now-familiar AzurLens blue-tinted glasses to avoid any ill-effects of that evil colour, the Aroras started brightly with Susilo testing the visiting goalkeeper early on, forcing a fine save from Jemal in the fourth minute with a bullet header following a Hassan cross from the wing. Two minutes later, he presented fellow striker Meic Price with a golden opportunity but his fierce shot was blazed over the bar.

As the half wore on, Phoenigetuzstha got more into the game, culminating in them creating by far the best chance of the half. A long-range shot from Mithridates Tauras was tipped past the post by Bettian keeper Marlin Pushaw. The resulting corner saw a well-worked short rountine finding Gehrib in space. The striker turned and slotted the ball under the advancing goalkeeper only to see his effort cleared off the line by a rare piece of Bettian defending, courtesy of CPD Porthbalfa's Rhodri Selwyn.

Half-time couldn't come quickly enough for the home side, and they came out after the break determined to show the Takilan football that once saw Bettia conquering the footballing world. This new approach seemed to pay dividends, with wave after wave of green and gold battering the visiting defence. Slamet Susilo and Tirta both had shots deflected wide, and Elfred Hughes curling effort was well-saved by Adonis Jemal. Despite his heroics, the keeper was eventually beaten just past the hour mark. A through ball from central midfielder Zaki Hussain put Susilo through on goal and he deftly chipped the onrushing keeper, sending the Aroras faithful into raptures.

Try as they might however, Bettia couldn't build on their lead and Phoenigetuzstha pressed forward in an attempt to claw back a late goal, and indeed thought they had equalised on 88 minutes as substitute Tigran Eupator latched onto a cross from the right wing and lashed the ball home from the edge of the penalty area, only to be denied by the linesman's flag for a marginal offside.

Bettia were mightily relieved when the match referee blew the whilstle for full-time, and must perform better when they travel to the rather hirsute 19th Century Beards on matchday 2.

EELS DEFEAT TO NAMELESS REJECTS
Lambert Spiedel's Chances at Turorian job Take a Hit!

For the first time since World Cup 38, the Turori Eels stepped onto the pitch for a World Cup Qualifying match. They had the players, supplied from the Turorian Academies and the Vilitan League. What they didn't have was the coach. So, in their infinite wisdom, the Football Association of Turori (FAT) decided it would be a great idea to use the World Cup 58 Qualifiers as an open audition for the position of Turori Eels head coach. While some question this tactic, considering it appeared that the Eels had a slim outside chance of Qualification from the group, leaning on the example of their neighboring Vilita in the previous World Cup Qualification in a similarly layed out group, it now appears to have been a good choice, as without upsetting Qazox, the Eels look unlikely to do more than build KPB points on this circuit.

While the full list of managers has yet to be announced, it is expected that this will be revealed between Matchday's 2 and 3. For the first Matchday, it was Lambert Spiedel, a nationality-free representative who has spent many seasons in the Capitalizt Slani.

Spiedel took control of the Eels prior to the opening match of World Cup Qualifying and had 2 weeks to prepare the team for their opening match. Spiedel was previously the assistant goalkeeping coach at Zentral Kentral in the Capitalizt SLANI league Third Division North. He had much success in the virtual world, leading his side magically to the Champions Cup, Super Cup, Elite League, Paripana Open Cup and Capitalizst SLANI cup titles five consecutive seasons. He claims no artificial mods were made to the database, but this is subject to review by the FAT.

Spiedel chose Turori because of his opinion that it has yet to receive proper recognition for laying the foundations of democracy, While legal restrictions prevented him clarifying any further. Spiedel is a very introverted person which may have been a hint that things were not going to work out for him in charge of a group of real players in a real team on a real field. He calls himself “Speedy” after claiming to have sprinted down a virtual touchline at a record pace after a game-winning goal against Petardos S/A in the virtual 2224 Champions’ Cup semifinal, second leg. He hopes to have Turori into the Finals by World Cup 60, but, without being able to record 3 points against a lowly team like Switzida, that is looking unlikely that he will even get a second game in charge of the Eels, no less World Cup 60.

The Eels did start the game brightly, leading for much of the first half through a Rikko Rawaii goal in the 9th minute. Rawaii had a horrid match from that point forward, however, earning the stinky eel for worst performing player overall, a remarkable feat considering his goal. Well, you could almost claim he scored for both sides. The Switzida equalizer is only credited to their Nameless Reject of a Right Forward on a technicality. The ball was *technically* headed for the goal when struck by said Right Forward in the 39th minute. However, it was headed just inside the near post, while Rawaii, doing who knows what inside the 6 yard box, cooly redirected the shot past the outstretched arms of Ronji Miiastara, and into the back of the net inside the far post. Turori never looked like challenging again after that demoralizing event, and, despite having a squad full of nameless players living in the Rejected Realms, Switzida outplayed and out scored the inexperienced Eels in the second half, netting the winner just before the hour mark and never looking back.

Torgos Tribune ~ Schedule Released, Wanderers Prepared

Following the weekend, in which the Wanderers had their first of two bye dates, the PFA has announced the home schedule for the Qualifying process for the Wanderers. In a bit of irony, the Wanderers shall start their qualifying campaign on the road in Lonaga, rather than their selection of home venues. Stade de Torgos managed to secure two of the home fixtures, both of which are seen as the most important matches for the Wanderers in their attempts at getting into the final thirty two; the matchday nine visit from top seed Dorian and Sonya and then matchday fifteen when Pretty Awesome Persons come to Pasarga, the third seed. The rest of the venues were spotted around the major footballing hubs of the country, with only Belja being the exception to that rule. It will be interesting to see if the PFA's little experiment gets their intended effect or not. I however believe that we will see Stade de Torgos be renamed the national stadium after the Qualifiers are through, regardless of what the alternating stadiums brings.

Now for the players themselves, there has been some turnover from the last side that failed to reach the Finals, most notably at the striker position. Three of the four strikers named to the team are female, meaning that the squad seems to be looking more towards pace and technical skills rather than powering their way through the opposition. Given the manager's preferred counter attacking style, this fits right in as all four of the strikers are very quick and can get by most defenders on their good day. However, they are all on the young side, with only Klimešová being on the other side of 25 at 26, and she has been relegated to second tier play with the creation of the Liga de Fuego (although at this point it looks like Galactica shall be joining the Liga next season and may end up in the Copa Final). So they lack experience of top level play and this may be a problem if the side starts to struggle against the lower seeds or is in a dog fight for the qualifying (and playoff) position towards the end of the campaign.

However there should be a good amount of chemistry among the squad, with many of the players coming from the same small handful of domestic clubs. Tanrısal, as an example, has four starters and another player on the bench. Will that familairity be enough to overcome the lack of experience some of the side does have? Perhaps, but it definitely is a boost compared to squads that have their players playing all over the world and only play with each other in those weekends and weeks that there is international fixtures. It would be advantageous of the side to employ these players (quality permitting) in the tough matches, to just give the side a little bit of an edge.

Attached below is the schedule for the side and a map of Pasarga.

Deja-Vu... Sort Of

Vilita open Legends Competitions with Victory

* clicking through the channels looking for the Vilita v. Astograth "Friendly" match *

"A superb free-kick... and the Jungle Cats.... are a goal up in the match against A...

Oh nice, they are showing the World Cup 20 final again for motivation before the World Cup Campaign kicks off. This will probably be better than watching us get beat down by Astograth anyway. Honey look, the World Cup 20 Final is on.

...stepped up and curled it beautifully round the wall... Aira was well beaten, its in off the bar and Vilita are one step closer to the win!

2-1? What is this 2-1? Thats not how I remember it?

Oh, its been a long time, maybe you are just remembering wrong.

No No, I'm not remembering wrong, how do you think I'd remember wrong? Look! That person in the stands, they have the new Vilita Kit on.

Maybe they are a time traveller...

No, I'm sure not, This must be the Legends Cup.
Yes, Look, it is...

Sure looks like Vilita v. Audioslavia circa World Cup 20. I'll never forget that Freekick.

Yes, Audiosl... err Astograth must be wearing the old Audioslav kits, and Vilita is wearing their World Cup 20's as well.

Ah, right you are, strange that, I thought you were supposed to wear someone elses kit in that tournament.

Yea, I thought we were going to wear the Lovisan Kit.

Lovisan? Why would we do that?

You're right, thats probably why we didn't.

Hey, if they're going to wear and Audioslav kit, we may as well wear our own.

We did, it seems.

Right thats what I'm saying
*Full time whistle blows*
I know.. anyway, I guess thats us through to the next round. I thought we weren't about playing friendlies.

Yea, well I heard we never really accepted but when the schedules came out we were on them so we decided it would be a good practice event. Guess no one thought we'd actually win a game.

Maybe the Jungle Cats aren't as bad as you guys are making them seem...

They are talented, they are just young.

Being young isn't a crime.

A crime? No, a handicap yes.

Well the good news is, they are getting older every day.

Yup, and, more importantly, more experienced...

Emplor Sport - World Cup 58 Qualifying Report

Vintage FSSO held out by resolute Myanmar
FSSO - 0 | 0 - Myanmar
Summit Stadium, Swenselona - Attendance 29,050
Watched by Richard Eckersonn

Tonight the FSSO made a good start in their World Cup 58 qualifying campaign with a professional performance but were unable to break down ten man Myanmar.

The FSSO new from the start that Myanmar would come to the FSSO looking for a draw, which suited the attack-minded FSSO team and Ben Randall was happy to field an attacking team, whilst Myanmar counterpart Victor Harris came with a plan to try and create opportunities on the break. At the last minute youngster Nick Feeney came in for Dennis Arnold to add an attacking edge to the right back position. However, it was Myanmar who came out of the blocks quickest and had the first good chance. Eight minutes in, Mike Humphrey felled Aung Ko Ko on the edge of the box, but Thura Aung drove his free kick from 20 yards wildly over the bar. Not to be discouraged, Myanmar went forward continuously but eventually were forced back as the FSSO settled into their gameplan, and gave Myanmar an early sign of things to come when Josh Stevenson let fly from 30 yards, narrowly putting his shot wide.

Man of the Match
Josh Stevenson - The FSSO midfielder
played superbly, creating many chances
and was unlucky not to score. 10/10.

Stat Attack
FSSO completed 97% of their passes in
the game, compared to Myanmar's
71%.

The FSSO have never played
Myanmar before now. The FSSO are the higher
ranked team, ranked 53rd in the world.

As the first half continued the away side fell deeper into their own half and were soon tested. Firstly Lee Sharp tested goalkeeper Aung Aung Oo with a rasping shot from the edge of the D, which Oo expertly tipped wide. The keeper then made an interesting stop with his foot as a James McCroft cross caught the wind and headed towards the bottom corner, which was followed by Sam Needle blazing over from the rebound. Needle would head wide before half time and Myanmar's Ko Ko would finally test Daniel Belgrave, firing a shot straight at him from 25 yards. At half time Feeney was substituted for Arnold after a poor first half.

Just after half time, the game caught fire as drama ensued. Ko Myat Si latched on to a Myo Han Tun long ball and suddenly burst into a run at goal, but was expertly dispossesed by Julesk Paranaya; what followed however was not so pretty. Si, frustrated and fired up, ran after Paranaya as he attempted to play back to Belgrave and pulled Paranaya back as he stood on one leg before lunging in for a dangerous one footed tackle on Paranaya's foot. Paranaya went down dramatically (albeit with reason) and the referee didn't hesitate to ensure Si saw red. Suddenly Myanmar were in a mess and Paranaya almost avenged the foul in the 50th minute, heading just over from 6 yards after a Stevenson corner.

Myanmar now reverted to a defensive style to lock out the game and rescue a point as the FSSO piled forward, almost scoring again as Lee Sharp hit the outside of the post from the edge of the box. As the half progressed Myanmar failed to get forward but looked resolute in defence and frustrated the FSSO side, who went close again as McCroft hit the side netting with a gorgeous 30 yard free kick. In the dying seconds of the game substitute and debutant Sam Thomas almost made a dream start to his international career with a diving header from another Stevenson corner, but he could only watch as it went agonisingly wide.

The FSSO put in a splendid performance but would've been happier with more clinical finishing, while Myanmar will look back at the second half with regret in what could have been a win. Ben Randall was less than pleased, taking too long in the dressing room post match to give us an interview, but he was in reality probably quitely pleased with the point - although it could have been more.

FSSO Player Ratings
1. Daniel Belgrave - 7/10
21. Nick Feeney - 4/10
5. Mike Humphrey - 6/10
4. Julesk Paranaya - 8/10

ALL THAT?
Kalumba 2-0 Homelands Our

Hello and welcome to the first world cup special. Our boys traveled far and wide finally coming to rest in  Kalumba for the first world cup match. This wasn't build up very well in homelands our with most people saying that a win for Kalumba was a near certainly but our team set out from harloop international airport to prove them wrong.  Seated on the upper deck first class zone the players were enjoying life onboard the aircraft but as usual things would soon turn sour and by that I don't mean lemons will appear.

About one and a half hours intoHOAIRflight 22323 a terrible thing happened, a thing that got the headlines across the country. From the back of the plane you could hear gunshots, the terrorist moved closer he came forward bang,Bang Bang! He went down the stairs, the captain now knew what was going on and radioed in to Carmadin Aircraft Control. Up stairs the team were calming down after the attack after clearing a spot to land the pilot safely brung down the aircraft.

Once landed the Carmadin police forces arrived. The plane was evacuated as fast as possible to ensure the gunman would not open fire once more. With all law abiding people off the police could finally move in and arrest him, from outside you could hear a few gunshots but what happened inside is unknown to the general public. About 40 minutes later the police helped a handcuffed man down the aircraft stairs before driving him away in a police car. Unfortunately the other people, including the team could not board the aircraft as it is now a crime since. HOAIR being so kind flew a new aircraft out from they're base in jersey to Carmadin, to be here in about 2 hours.

And it was, the aircraft had at last come to be here, the people simple transferred over onto the new plane. After aplologies from HOAIR and one radioed through from Harloop International Airport (HIA) the new plane was ready to take off, to go to Kalumba. Drinks were on HoAir but the fine print that angered the coach was that it was only for the first Horo and with all drinks being 2Horo's or more a feeling of being conned was going into his mind. After a while (4 hours) the aircraft approached landing in Kalumba, after touching-down the long taxi to the airport started however soon the team was out and enjoying  Kalumba.

Right now for what you have all been waiting for, the match. The pre match odds placed Kalumba at 2-1 a draw at 8-1 and a win for our boys 12-1. Will the bookmakers be correct or can out boys produce a shock win, it's time to find out.

Kalumba kicked off the first half inside the stadium and almost instantly Homelands Our's fans supported the team with everything. For the early part of the game Kalumba camped inside our box and Karl Gadi had to stick out a leg on the line at the last minute to save a certain goal on the 12th minute. Soon however our boys came into they're own Jamie Long curving a neat cross onto James Dact's head only for the ball to rebound off the bar and to be cleared by the Kalumba goalie. Kalumba went forward once more a powerful shot went right over the bar. Soon the referee was blowing his whistle for half time, the score 0 - 0.

With James Dact kicking the ball into Jamie long's feet the second half began and this would be the half the decided the game. From early on you could see that it would be Kalumba dictating the play for the last half of the game. This fact became more evident in the 55th minute when a lovely Kalumba corner was headed by a Kalumba player and flew past Andrew Herkison and into the top corner of the net. For the rest of the half most of the play was bogged down in the middle of the park. In the 80th minute Kalumba broke forward and caught Andrew Herkison napping and making it 2 - 0. Late on a Homelands Our goal was ruled out for a highly debatable offside, but in the end the outcome was a win for Kalumba.

Official Press Release

The Chrinthani National Football Team would like to official request the World Cup organizers to correct a mistake which has been caught. It is of moderate priority that such a mistake be corrected, but one which we felt the need to address. In the official World Cup Qualification Group Draw, the name of the nation has been misspelled and we wish to ask that it be corrected. The name of the nation is C-h-r-i-n-t-h-a-n-i-u-m, not C-r-i-n-t-h-a-n-i-u-m. Normally such an error would be well overlooked by our staff, but His Indefatigable Greatness has noticed the error and, well, that means we're propelled to make a formal request.

We thank you in advance for your time, and for your assistance.

Sincerely

Melissa Becker,
Chairperson, Chrinthani National Football Association

EMPEROR BOSTON HATES YOU AND YOUR NATION

But Not Your Canine Friend

In a statement which is likely to stir up mutual feelings across the nation, Emperor Boston last night declared that he hates you, along with the country you come from. While the Emperor did admit this was by and large nothing short of a rather far-reaching statement that wasn't necessarily true in all cases, chances were that he doesn't like you, or the nation you come from.

The Emperor chortled mightily at your public transport system and poured scorn on the fact that you couldn't drink water straight from the tap in your nation, having to buy bottled water. He laughed at the inconvenience this caused your nation, though stopped laughing for a moment when he realised the expenditure this saved your Government – who he doesn't think you should like, as he doesn't – while raking in extra income via the value added tax on the bottled water you most likely bought weekly at your local supermarket, which he referred to as grubby and unhygienic.

Pressing the point somewhat, the Emperor declared that this is probably why you have that thing that you have and why your favourite sports team is the worst known to mankind. Rounding off, the Emperor said that he liked your canine companion though, as it wasn't the dog's fault who it's owner was. He did say that he doesn't like your feline companion, as it was daft enough to keep coming back, though was surprised that it could be provided with food. All in all, the Emperor advised you to get some proper politics, a proper job and a new haircut, as you need it.

"Damn it!!!"

"We shoulda had that game! It was ours. Ours!"

"I know, but now we've gotta get over ourselves. No sense dwelling on the bad, there's still 17 matches to go, and we will get a rematch with Antoletia. And dammit, we'll win"

"Yes, we will"

"'ey, Oht?? You got a story that'll make us happier?"

"Well, I don't know. I'm pretty damn upset myself. But, i'm almost done with my first story in my new book."

"You're writing a book?"

"yeah, Dowv gave me the idea"

"I'm gonna have to read it when you're done"

"Um, Kihx. it's in Shihn'Dohm"

"oh.Well, can't you tell us another one in English?"

"Sure! How about how man was created?"

"I don't know, we gotta get to training"

'How about the gracious loser's tale?"

"That...........sounds awesome!"

"And all too fitting :( "

"Alright, here:"

The Shihn'Dohm Myth of the gracious losers: The tale of the Sun and the Moon
OOC: I have no time, so it's a short myth, but the tale of the creation of humans will be soon :) )

Once, long, long ago, there were the two lesser gods. They were the sun and the moon. And, yes, the sun's name was Sūrya. And he gave light to the sky, and he gave nourishment to the trees. And he did reign over the sky, and the earth, from daybreak to nightfall, and all who saw Sūrya marveled at his power and light, his brilliance and warmth.
And there was the moon. And her name was Candrana. And her gentle light shone softly over the land when all the people had gone to sleep, and she lulled the babies, so that they might sleep also, and she was known as a gentle godess, and she was well liked.

Now, both Cadrana and Sūrya were master archers, and Sūrya fired his arrows in fron of him, and they stuck fast in the sky, and were invisible until the night. Then, Cadrana used her bow, and fired arrows of pure light. And when her aim was true, which was more often than not, the light of her arrows struck the targets Sūrya had created, and they lit, and these targets were Nakṣatragaḷu, the stars.

One day, in the in-between time, when neither Cadrana or Sūrya sat in the sky, they decided to hold a competition, to see which among them was truly the greatest archer. And Sūrya placed the targets in patterns in the sky, making the shapes of the animals that had been created, and his intent was to confuse Cadrana.
But every night, Cadrana's aim was true, and her arrows hit each target.

On the seventh night of the competiton, Cadrana had shot so many targets, that she grew weary, and lay down her bow for a rest. But as she rested, the night ended, and Sūrya rose in the sky. And he saw that Cadrana had scored on all targets, and that the competiton must go on another day. But even as he saw this, Cadrana saw a target she had not hit, and she came racing across the sky to him, and told him of her failure. And, lo! The missed target was lit up, and it became Pōlāris, the brightest of the Nakṣatragaḷu, and she knew that she had been honest and right.

So, due to Cadrana's honesty and sportsmanship, we have Pōlāris, without whom sailors would lose their way, and the world would deviate from the path of right.
And even today, Cadrana will sometimes appear in the sky, in broad daylight, to remind us always to be honest and fair, and always to display good sportsmanship, and never to gloat or brag.

So, i hope nect time you see Cadrana in the sky during the day hours, you will remember to be an honest and fair person, and that sportsmanship, and losing, oftimes yields good.

Hello, I am Oht aw ee Wo. I play for the Carmadin football team. I am a 100% aboriginal Shihn'Dohm islander, and I am recording the tales our people have told through the years. I am writing a book, that will continue my people's culture long, long after I am gone. You may not understand this, and you should indeed listen to the tales I tell my teammates. But I compile the stories here, In my people's toungue, so that they may read of our legends and myths. I will continure to write here during the world cup, and I will not lose this book as long as I live. It shall be my treasure, my life's work.

I hope you enjoy what follows on these pages.

The World Cup: A Poem

The World Cup: it's a trophy,
But for some it's the most precious thing in the world.
It all starts at the Baptism of Fire,
and the flags unfurled.

The first game,
Testing the unknown.
But if you win,
You tell our mum on the phone.

You win the group,
Through the knockouts,
Through the pain,
Until you reach the last round,
The final.

The winner,
A trophy and a sense of achievement
The loser,
A feeling of bereavement.

But nevermind that,
It's World Cup time.
Hundreds of teams,
Humans, elves, bears, friars, mimes.
All in the qualifying stages,
Dreaming a single dream,
The World Cup.

Many lose out,
But thirty go through,
To join the hosts,
In another land.

The group stage,
The knockouts,
The semis,
The two winners of those,
Tired, but still happy,
Are in the final.

The game day comes,
Players are nervous.
The whistle blows,
The ball moves.

Who knows what might happen,
Extra time and penalties?
A thrashing?
A single kick of a single ball,
could make the difference.

The winning team,
their dream comes true.
The cup is handed over,
and lifted up high.
The team celebrates wildly,
for days on end.

The World Cup,
It's not just a trophy.
It's one of the rarest,
and toughest,
things in the world.
That's why people care.

PRETTY AWESOME PERSONS 3-1 EQUESTRIAN STATES

Unknown '1
Fierro '33
Lopez '51, '77

Just 1 minute into the game, Fox-Carlota is stunned by a long distance effort

This broadcast is brought to you by Rudolph Jones for 2052

Well would you look at that, I was wrong. But hey, it was a close call. Especially after Fox is stunned in the FIRST MINUTE.

*cut to video of goal*
Commentator:And we're off! PAP quickly loses possession to the States, but the defense looks alert and is right on him, nothing to worry about. Long ball to the corner, its a cross! And its easily headed away by Rivera, but its right to the feet of a States player and he goes for it! OHHHH WHAT A SHOT! ITS A GOAL! INCREDIBLE! NOT EVEN A MINUTE INTO THE GAME AND WE'RE DOWN BY 1. This can not be a good sign at all....

It was a very nice goal, so kudos to Equestrian States and their offense.
Luckily, PAP rebounded and scored three, with one in the first half and then two by Lopez in the second half. Overall though, I was very impressed by the team overall, as they quickly recovered from that unfortunate goal, as they dominated possession with nearly 71%. PAP also dominated shots on target, with 11 shots, compared to States' 4 shots on goal, all easily stopped by Fox. The defense looked shaky sometimes, but Rivera seems to be the rock of the defense, being crucial to PAP not conceding another, just by closely marking the forwards and being able to read any crosses and passes very well, allowing him to intercept any plays.
Which bring me to my man of the match, obviously Alexander Rivera, for his great defensive work and not to mention his ability to cross with deadly accuracy, all while being a sport and a clean player. On the other hand, my flop of the match goes to Mr. Captain, Alberto Fierro.

*boos*

What is there to boo about? He only had ONE SHOT ON TARGET, AND THAT WAS HIS LITTLE TAP IN GOAL. I don't know about you guys, but if ANYONE was leading the team it was Calles, and he's the only reason the team snapped back up. I saw Fierro shout and order once or twice in the whole game, and it usually went wrong, either because they lost possession or it was just an unnecessary move. Meanwhile, Calles directed the midfield and offense, telling the players where to go, or what to do, with GREAT EFFICIENCY.

Mr. Fierro has a long way to go to be recognized to be a decent striker in my eyes, and if you guys aren't happy with that, then just cling on to your delusions, maybe you'll realize how much hype Fierro is when even Rivera has more goals than him. Honestly, I want Fierro NOT to be captain, and I want a REAL striker, like Agustin Gomez, who, in case you didn't know, scored 24 goals and had 6 assists with the New Madrid Blancos, THE SAME TEAM FIERRO IS ON, AND FIERRO SCORED ONLY 18 GOALS AND HAD 1 ASSIST.

Speaking of Gomez, why wasn't he called up?

West Angola Triumphs Over Sativaville 1-0!

In a fiery match earlier today, West Angola avenged a terrible defeat at the hands of Mangolana as they stormed back to defeat Satiaville 1-0. Phillip Waldinghun nailed a goal in the 47th Minute, streaking a shot past a diving Jack Darden to score the only goal of the match. West Angolan Coach Phillip Garren called the victory "crucial", and said that "any team who can win even one game is a team others will take seriously." West Angola stands poised to go far if they can follow up the victory with another over Cheergirls tomorrow.

"Are you kidding me, you want me to do what"? Rocky Hermano, Janitor at the WCC headquarters in Aguazul, was currently attempting to have a conversation with one of the employees in the Cafeteria, even though, Rocky did not speak a word of the Aguazul, whatever its called, Language. All Rocky could understand of what was being said was the hand signals the man used.

"So you want me to take out the trash, is that what your telling me?" The Aguazul worker, slaped his hand to his head, and started yelling at the top of his lungs, in a language that everybody could understand.

"Fine, Fine, Fine, I will take the trash out." Rocky picked up the bag as the worker walked away still screaming at the top of his lungs, this time looking like he was about to go into Cardiac arrest. "Jackass" Rocky muttered as he walked away. He headed out the back-door, just in time to catch the garbage man before he picked up the trash.

"Hold up, Hold up!" Rocky waved his hands frantically to get the attention of the driver, who quickly stopped thinking there was something wrong. The driver, which Rocky could not understand said something to him that made him seem very upset. Rocky who figured the best way to tell the guy what he needed was to point at the garbage bag and wait. The driver which instantly reconized what he was trying to do, waved at him to put the bag in the dumpster.

As the Garbage man pulled out of the driveway, Rocky yelled to the driver, "Thanks", which caused the driver to slam on his brakes, again thinking something was wrong. Rocky hurriedly ran inside to avoid a confrontation with the driver, came face to face with the interpreter of the office, a name that he could not pronounce.

"Rocky" the interpretor yelled, "where is that bag you had with you earlier?"

"I threw it away, why did you need it"

"You did what! That bag had the rare Dreamed Realm Gem in it, it was going to be given to the president for his birthday!"

"Oops!"

"Oops! That all you have to say for yourself!"

"Yup."

"Boy, you are lucky I don't have the right to fire you, but boy, you better watch your back from now on, because that deranged worker who was screaming earlier is gonna kick my ass, so I will make sure you pay for it! Mark my words", the translator said as he stormed out the way he came in.

Rocky checked his watch after the interpretor dissapeared, "Wouldn't ya know it, its checking out time, time to hit the bar!" Rocky dropped all his equitment, clocked out in the janitorial office and headed to the bar for another long night of dreaming, but this time he was being followed.

(Please note The Rumiatzi Sentinel is notoriously nationalistic, biased and unreliable. Reader discretion advised.)

Astograth 4 - Ossidiacqua 1
Lack o' Dakka Sinks Ossiacka!

Today was a fine day in Rumiatzi. There was a slight breeze, plenty of sunshine and blooming flowers along the Leizaran... and goals. Four of them for Olibondeka, spelling out doom for an Acquan side that never knew what hit them. Dei Ormache, Otz Lasuen, Agoztar Gorstiaga and Bartosz Slusarski were the ones to get on the scoresheet; the naturalised Mytanar scoring on his debut with the olive-green shirt. The Acquan #10 - Gajardo? - scored the other one, but we'll get to that.

The qualifiers kicked off with Pieran's preferred eleven on the pitch, while La Renaissance fielded none of the Oasiricans that won a BoF 45 semifinal at the very same Grand Duke's Stadium not long ago. Odd, as they didn't show much improvement despite an extra 270 years of practice. They sung their heathen anthem with some emotion, but it was soon drowned out by 90,000 Astograthians showing them how to sing an anthem and sport manly tears of manliness. It only lasted something like ten minutes, but the Acquans looked fidgety towards the end, playing right into the hands of mind-game master Pieran.

Ossidiacqua committed its first mistake by betraying all rules of hospitality and scoring on the hosts within the first five minutes, Gajardo (?) slipping past Burruchaga, sliding past Adin and slightly lobbing the ball over the incoming Aira. A terrific goal, but that's the kind of quality it takes to score on us. But scoring on your gracious hosts so early? Big no-nos like that simply go to show how time walls wreck your brain, and La Renaissance paid dearly for their impudence.

Olibondeka took the game to them, allowing no space except when they did and foiling all attacks on the spot except when they didn't. Sweeping, attacking football that asphyxiated the Acquans in their first ever World Cup qualifier. It felt good. And preposterously familiar, as if it was Astograth who was on the receiving end up until recently. That's what the "historians" would have you believe, dear readers; heed them not.

Eventually, Antonin Schettina brought down Itzeder Unzueta in the box with an absurd sliding tackle that could have severed Unzueta in half had he not clevered jumped into the air and rolled on the ground a half-dozen times to absorb the impact. That's what he was doing, haters, not diving. Astograthians don't dive. At any rate, Schettina saw red and Dei Ormache rifled the spot-kick into the net.

On level terms and with one more man on the pitch, Astograth strolled to the win, Ossidiacqua falling apart as time ticked on. Otz Lasuen made it 2-1 with a long shot not long after the equaliser, and the Olives were content to hold onto their lead heading into half-time, which is not something The Rumiatzi Sentinel condones. If your opponent's on the ground, you kick him till he's bloody and he can't hurt you no more, and Powell Pieran made his lads understand that in the dressing room before the second 45.

Still, it took them longer than expected to make it three, Gajardo and Sanginaco tentatively probing Aira in the meantime. A free-kick awarded for a foul on Artzeiz Zornoza on the counter-attack resulted in a number of rebounds before Agoztar Gorstiaga nailed it and scored his first goal for Astograth. A proud moment for the lad, no doubt, though Zorion Legeren must be worried with his understudy's progress. No matter, as it was all overshadowed by Bartosz Slusarski on the 68th minute.

He stepped on the pitch with the #14 shirt, substituting Itzeder Unzueta, and Grand Duke's Stadium roared. Slusarski has been one of the stars of Royal Rumiatzi since his arrival, and the lack of interest on behalf of the Mytannion national team led to the fans - and the Sentinel, naturally - to clamour for his naturalisation. And at last, we saw the skilled winger wearing the olive-green shirt. It's almost enough for us to forget he was once a dirty foreigner.

With his third touch for Astograth, he scored. While walking back to his half, Adin dispossesed Barrameo and booted it upfield, ahead of where Slusarski was. Turning, he beat the last man in speed, controlled, sent the same defender the wrong way with a subtle feint and levelled a strong shot at Antofermo's far post. 4-1 and Rumiatzi was a party.

Which probably makes Ossidiacqua that kid nobody invites but shows up anyway.

After such a end to the Market Cup, the Bisons came out today in much the same form as that which left them 1-3 in the Secondary Group Stage of (Market Cup V). Is this the team we can expect to see game in and game out? I certainly hope not.

The Group

With the first day of matches coming to an close, we are already being given some surprises. The biggest surprise was the 3-2 Burchandinger victory over much higher ranked Octinstine at home; while no one could have predicted that outcome, nonetheless, it still sets in the record books. However, what should not surprise anyone is the 5-0 victory of Cosumar over unranked and newly showcased Neo Japan. What was their first international appearance may have just become their worse international defeat.

Thought of the Day: Should the Citiz national team have a nickname?

Oh god. Oh god, what have you done, dear questioner? Suggesting the Civil Citizenry Citiz should be nicknamed anything but the Citiz‽ The short answer is: yes. "Citiz" is so boring and uncreative. And think about the problems it poses for announcers: "The Citiz runs down the field" could refer to a sprinting player, a drunken national who lost a bet, or even the entire team (Citiz can be singular and plural) using a verb form that sounds like an Astograthian learning English.

Nicknames are meant to represent something inherently important to the team and the country as a whole. In fairness, "Citiz" represents every Citiz player well, but it doesn't describe anything about the spirit of the team or a national ideal. There are a ton of examples where national teams use nicknames that accurately describe themselves. The Erathi nickname "La Furia Azule" translates to "the Blue Fury", highlighting not only the stand-out uniform color but also the players' collective ferociousness. In Polar Islandstates, the nickname "the Terns" pays homage to the country's unique national animal, the arctic tern. Similarly, Chetkoski players are called "the Puffins" because the puffin is not only their national animal, but also flaunts colors similar to those worn by the players. Astograth's team is called "Olibondeka", an Astograthian word which means "the Olives" - representing the main color of their glorious kits.

The point is, a nickname is not just a catchy way to refer to a team (who wants to blurt out "The New Holy Roman Empire" or "Kagdazka and Pazhujebu" all the time?). It's a symbol that carries deeper meaning than just a name. The Puffins may not sound intimidating on paper, but it represents devotion to the tradition of an aggressive nation that has proven itself with successes on the pitch. That's the sort of thing our country should look for when picking a national team nickname.

You know, Civil Citizenry has a few things that immediately stand out when foreigners here the name. Over-bureaucracy; eviltotalitarianism, our own innovation as Rushmori delegate; ultra-liberalism; and the best tennis in the world. As catchy as the Civil Citizenry Eviltotalitarian Over-Bureaucrats is, I have a slightly better solution. Did you know that we Citiz are good at... baking?

That's right - we're world-renowned for our desserts and sugary foods. You can't pass through any town, from Bartewick to Athenstoft, from Comesby to Eastern Chase, without spotting a bakery and sampling its delicacies. Each bakery makes things differently, but there are several traditional, popular eateries. The most famous is the Dirty: a soft, chewy cookie filled with semisweet chocolate chips and chocolate-covered candies. Some Dirties, particularly in the south, are made hard and crunchy; others have sprinklings of almond in them. In my opinion, though, the most delicious is this. In the far north, it's called the Hibernate because it's perfect on cold winter nights when you need a high-calorie food to warm you and fill you up. Most everywhere else, it's called the Roundie: a circular brownie with a peanut butter cup placed in the center immediately after removal from the oven.

Some of you may have heard of these delicious products, particularly in neighboring Astograth and best-buddy Erathore, where Citiz bakeries are pretty popular. If you haven't - well, you might pretty soon. That's because I'm officially nominating the Citiz national team nickname to be the Bakers!

Who could think of a more intimidating nickname? It shows dedication to a challenging profession that requires perfection, just like football. It symbolizes one of the most popular aspects of Citiz culture. And most importantly, Citiz players can shove Dirties in opponents' faces after a win. Gives a brand-new meaning to sportsmanship, no?

Next Thought of the Day: What was the greatest match in national team history?

Izzie: Sorry I'm late. We ran into some occupy protesters by accident.
Man: I hope they didn't cause any trouble.
Izzie: No no, the armoured car shooting stuff at them fixed that up.
Man: Oh, nevermind. Let's get down to business.
Izzie: I did read the stuff you gave me for this meeting.
Man: I'm sure it was informative your majesty.
Izzie: Call me Izzie. Everyone calls me that.
Man: We need your support to implement SOPA and PIPA in Jeruselem.
Izzie: I'm in no position for that. I need our legal experts to look into it.
Man: But we think should support it. It's good for the country.
Izzie: I don't know, sounds a bit draconian too me.
Man: Yes but it's all for the good of music and movie industry. They need protection.
Izzie: I'm the wrong person to ask for support, I don't understand this legal stuff.
Man: You don't need to.
Izzie: I can't hand control of part of Internet to a 3rd party not under the control of our authorities.
Man: We can work with your people on this. It's not about taking control away from your country.
Izzie: I need to talk to some of my advisers.
Man: I think the argument is simple and straightforward for SOPA and PIPA.
Izzie: I must think about the other ramifications. I don't like rushing into things. Why didn't you ask my father? He's the older generation who might have agreed with you.
Man: He was never interested so we never got his attention.
Izzie: I've got plenty of things on my plate at the moment.
Man: We're working on making this reality. We think it's a good thing for every nation.
Izzie: I have a few concerns about these proposals.
Man: We're here to make answer those questions.
Izzie: I asked Sofia about this, Sofia is one my relatives. She thinks it's all load of ... well ... you know. She manages her own music career and thinks it's to prop profits of the parasites you represent.
Man: She's an independent artist who happens to have loads of money. Others aren't so lucky and need our protection to protect their interests.
Izzie: So why ask us to help you?
Man: There's a lot of file and video sharing sites hosted here in Jeruselem. A lot of them are helping the pirates steal the profits rightfully earned by others.
Izzie: Oh look at the time, I have to another meeting.
Man: Already?
Izzie: I have get the launch of Nudie Fountain for Qazian community. Sorry!

Qazox held Scoreless in Suprise Snowstorm

Rockport is on the southeast coast of Qazox and is one of the warmer climes within the nation. But a suprise snowstorm, brought about mostly from a combination of a Northland chinook that dropped temperatures along the east coast to record or near-record lows; and a coastal storm up from the Sativaville coast combined over the Rockport Gulf. Nearly 9 inches of snow fell during the day, which would usually call for a postponement of the match that night, but alas due to international broadcasting rights, the game kicked off at 11:35 am in a swirling flurry. As the day and the match progressed, the temperature dropped from 38F to 26F by halftime and outside of the stadium at least 3 inches had fallen. The pitch held up rather well, as little to no snowfall accumulated on the field, mostly due to the players movements. By the end of the match just over 6 inches of snow had fallen and the temperatures were near 20F.

After the half, the snow began to come down a bit wetter and harder. Coach Zaki and his opposite met with the offical just before the 2nd half kicked off and the referee offered to suspend the match. But both coaches allowed the match to continue. Qazox did dominate most of the possession in the match, but their quickness was held in check by the muddy field and the swirling winds. Dwight Lynn had the best shot to put a goal on the board in the 75th minute, but his shot was quickly swallowed by the growing quagmire in front of each goal.

The weather usually does not affect Qazox this much, but given the icy temperatures, the unexpected snow and the mud created by the snowfall, to escape with a 0-0 draw; even against a team like Switzida; was fortunate. This is just the second of 16 matches on the way to the World Cup, but the Eagles cannot afford another game like this, especially over the next 4 or 5 matches. If they do drop more points, will the fingers begin pointing at Karim Zaki?

Qazox will have the next 6 days off before hosting Turori at Qazian Memorial Stadium.

Sativaville Angled away by West Angola

Phillip Waldinghun nailed a goal in the 47th Minute past Jack Darden, as Waldinghun had a great angle on the net and ticked it home.

Compared to the Bostopia match, the Stoners played vastly better, but as of yet still haven't found the back of the net. Gordon Weaver had two shots tick off the post or crossbar.

After an off day this Friday, Sativaville will host Mangolana next Monday night.
We won a Baptism of Fire once. Fear the Stoners!

November 30th, 2011(Give or take a day or two)
Darmeni Academy of Espianoge, Sabatoge, and Secrecy & The IG-2 Headquarters, Scott City, Darmen

Cadet Donald O'Donahaue was extremly excited. Today was the final day he would be forced to spend at the Darmeni Academy of Espianoge, Sabatoge, and Secrecy. He'd been studying here for the past five years, while also working a part time internship at the IG-2's Headquarters. Tomorrow he would be graduating, and soon after he would be sent out on his first mission.

Donald walked down the hallway, and as he did, smiled at several of the female Cadets. They glared at him, obviously ashamed that one of their own, a fellow Cadet, wanted to break the first rule of Espianoge: Never fall in love with another Spy.

Donald could care less, all he wanted in life was to meet Ms. Perfect, go on a mission with her, find themselves beatiful country, preferably Astograth, and never return to Darmen, spending a wonderful life together.

Donald's father, Tim O'Donahaue, had other ideas for his sons career though, and he made sure that as soon as Donald graduated from the Academy, he would become his father's partner. Tim had always planned to leave his post as Junior Head of National Security, and return to the excitement of being an actual agent in the field.

Donald turned down the hallway, and headed to his final class of his studying carrer: 101 ways to kill the Bad Guys. That was the nickname the Cadets had given the Marksmanship class, which was one of the hardest classes to pass in the whole of the Academy ciriculum. Donald knew that today was to be the Final test in the class and that target practice was going to be a part of the test. Donald had always been a good shot, shooting his first bullseye with an M-14 when he was only eight years old. The recoil had knocked him flat on his butt, and his father had remarked at how the shot had just been "beginers luck".

But Donald proved his father wrong fast, resteadying himself, and aiming for another shot. He was ready for the recoil this time, and shot after shot went into the innermost ring.

Donald walked up to the gun range inside the Academy. He placed the earphone/sound muffler that had been sitting on the shelf in front of him, onto his head. It began to speak into his ear...

"Please enter your name onto the screen in front of you."

Donald followed the command, and a pistol, a Model 1911 Colt .45 to be exact, appeared from a drawer below the keyboard.

"You may now pick up your weapon. Do not fire until promted to do so. You may fire one round per turn. Jonathan Elroy, please take your shot..."

BANG

"Willie Neilson, please take your shot..."

BANG

Donald looked at the number of this firing lane. He was number 46. That's dumb, he thought. He waited and waited, and finaly...

BANG

The bullet hit the innermost ring. Donald's name appeared on the computed screen in front of him, with a 10 next to his name. He was tied with only twenty other Cadets. Donald knew that there was still another nine rounds left to go, and that the number of cadets with a perfect score would decease substantially in the coming rounds.

Only two hours and eight rounds later, and Donald was tied with only one other cadet. Their perfect scores up to this point had garanteed themselves a passing score, and graduation from the academy. It was now Donald's last turn...

BANG

The shot missed it's mark. Donald looked astounded at the hole his bullet had left. The shot hadn't even scored, and Donald's name had dropped down into fifth place. Donald slammed down his gun, luckily, it did not fire. He turned and punched the concrete wall. Several other Cadets offered their condolences on the missed shot, but none of it made Donald feel any better.

He stormed up to the instructor, grabbed his final report, and hurriedly, stormed off to his dorm. He grabbed the keys to his car, and sped off to the IG's Main Headquarters. When he arrived, he went straight to his father's office, but stopped when he saw his father talking to General Sammuel Roberts...

"Wow, I can't believe all these darn good Footballing teams are leaving. First Sorthern Northland, Starblaydia, and Delaclava, and now Sarzonia. I just can't get over it all. We might actually qualify for 58, the way all these teams are leaving."

"Yeah, well did you hear? Mikael Gibbons is going to be fired."

"What?"

"Yeah, Darmen finished only third in their Cup of Harmony Group, and the DSF has had enough."

"So they're promoting von Kreisler?"

"Possibly, it hasn't been decided yet. Rumor has it that it'll either be Kreisler, some foreign guy, or Thomas."

"Thomas‽"

"Yeah, there's some talk he might be returning."

"With Gibbons back at assistant?"

"No he's done. Kreisler would still be assistant and U-21 Manager."

"By the way, who is our U-21 Assistant?"

"No clue, they haven't played in a while and I don't pay much attention to them anyway."

"So several teams leave, and the DSF can't be a little more patient with Gibbons, rubbish!"

"I know. If the DSF would just give Gibbons a little more time, maybe he could actually prove himself to be a good coach. Of course nothing's official yet, so there's still a chance Gibbons will stay."

Tim O'Donahaue saw movement in the doorway, and quickly looked over. He saw his son in the hallway, clearly frustrated.

"Let me guess Cadet, you missed a shot, and now you want to bribe me to change your score."

"You're half right, Sir," replied Donald, as a small grin appeared on his face."

Tim motioned for his son to enter his room. General Roberts turned to see who their guest was.

"General, I'd like to introduce you to my son, Cadet First Class, Donald O'Donahaue."

The General stood up, and presented his hand to Donald, "It's a pleasure to meet you Cadet."

"Same to you, Sir," replied Donald, who was now beaming from ear to ear. Tim grabed a chair for for his son, who thanked him and sat down.

"Me and the General were just talking about a possible mission that you and I might go on."

"Oh, really. Let me guess, you want to raid the Darmeni Soccer Federations office and install Thomas as manager?"

Tim smiled at his son's guess, "Wrong. The General and I both believe that we may have found something very important to our National Security. It's called the Hidden Paw."

Donald looked awestruck. "But that's just a myth. It doesn't really exist."

This time General Roberts spoke. "According to the Myth, the Hidden Paw holds mystical powers that can destroy whole nations. Even if it doesn't exist, this could be very important. Just to say that we have the Paw, even if it isn't real, could be a huge advantage for us. But of course having the real thing would be so much better.

"You two are crazy," exclaimed Donald. "There's no way you'll ever be able to find it, even if it does exist. And there's no way I'm going on a mission like that."

"I'm affraid you don't have much of a choice," said Tim, with a small grin appearing on his face, "I'm your superior after all."

"Love you too," said Donald, as his smile disapeered. He got up, saluted the General and his father, and left the office. He headed straight to the Scott City International Airport, but decided against buying a ticket to Cotdelapoms.
