It's disgusting, but there you go.

Fairly certain that seizing land under eminent domain for private development is illegal.

Not here in Tennessee, at least. Our state supreme court said it's ok if it the new use is more taxable.

There's actual difference between Republicans and Blue Dogs?
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

Long story short, his proposed budget effectively cuts the education budget by $50 million while preserving almost that much in tax breaks to a theme park about the Bible, as well as an $11 million improvement to the highway for it. Words cannot express how angry this makes me. What the hell is he thinking?

This is why representative democracy is wrong we should use the direct model so we can stop dumbass decesikns such as this.

It's in the South. With direct democracy, it wouldn't just get tax breaks, it'd get funding.

Eh, if the attraction is popular enough that there are traffic problems, expanding local infrastructure with that area in mind is not such a bad thing. Giving them tax breaks for being about jesus, on the other hand, is asinine.

Full stop.
They did not give them tax breaks for being about jesus.
They gave them tax breaks for being an amusement park.
Disney world gets tax breaks, by occasionally letting cattle graze on their land.

The new york yankees get tax breaks, from the federal govnerment because the new york lawyers who wrote the bonds found a tax loophole.

The aformentioned receive significantly more tax breaks from their local and even federal govnerment. The lack of bitching in the OP's source about this leaves me to conclude it is only because of the content the OP and his source are complaining.

He's probably not much of a democrat. In Kentucky, and in a lot of the south, parties don't mean much. People vote the same way, so parties do the same thing.

The state has a nasty habit of condemning the houses in question, if the evicted parties are of limited means, so they often get 50 cents on the dollar for their house. This also factors in no way the cost of moving to a new piece of land.

But beyond that it turns the concept of a government into a mechanical regulation. If outlawing this behavior increases GDP then outlaw it. That is the most dangerous threat to liberty a man faces today. It must be opposed at all cost.
