Team Cosumar - World Cup 58

Basic Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar
Nickname: Dragons
Colors: Blue and White

Stadium: Leviathan Arena
Capacity: 99,114
Location: Kaldukosk, Cosumar
Image

Experience: This will be Cosumar's 8th World Cup. Cosumar has qualified and advanced past group stage for the past four World Cups (54-57), including trips to the Round of 16 in World Cups 56 and 57. Cosumar is currently ranked 16th in the world, but reached a peak of 13th during World Cup 57.

Ranking: #16

Team: The roster consists of 20 players, 17 of which are human. The remaining 3 are Vloo, a humanoid species native to Cosumar. This Cosumarite team features a mix of seasoned veterans and athletic young talents.

More About Vloo: Please note that the Vloo, though not human, have no considerable physical advantage over human players. Minor differences are that the Vloo are slightly taller on average and must wear different cleats due to their unique foot structure. Vloo are nearly equal to humans in terms of strength and speed, but have a blue taint to their skin and two small, dull horns on the top of their head. Most Vloo's horns are completely covered by their thick, black hair.

Formation: 4-2-4

The Starting XI

GK Pablo Reyes (31)
In the last five years, Reyes has emerged as one of the true stars of the Fiefdom Soccer Federation as the goalie for Mallox. Reyes is an extremely gifted athlete with excellent body control, a level head, and exceptional instinctive reflexes. This will be Reyes' second Cup as starting goalkeeper.

DF William Riley (30)
Riley came straight out of high school to play professional football 12 years ago and had no trouble playing with the cream of the crop. A decade later, Riley has emerged as the international face of Cosumarite football. He is without a doubt one of the most skilled defencemen the Fiefdom has ever produced. He is a tad undersized but makes up for it with unmatched speed, vision, and footwork. He has received offers from clubs in multiple international leagues, but has opted to stay in Cosumar. Riley is, at the moment, the most talented on the team at his position and will serve as Team Captain for this World Cup.

DF Alexander Pearce (23)
Pearce elected to immediately jump to professional soccer after high school and has been a member of the Cosumar National Team since age 18. Pearce looks poised to become the next William Riley. Although he is young, he is just as skilled as anyone else on the team and has received much hype from Cosumarite media. Being a starter in this World Cup will be another valuable learning experience for Pearce as he looks to prove himself among the world's best.

DF Cedir Na'Draughn (28)
After a surprisingly impressive debut as a starter in World Cup 56, Na'Draughn returns to the Dragons' starting line-up for World Cup 58. He is also one of the three Vloo members on the team. Na'Draughn is an intimidating figure at nearly 6"4, with some great moves and phenomenal endurance.

DF Gundar Umpton (27)
Umpton made his debut in World Cup 55 as a reserve, and saw increased playing time in World Cup 56. He was a shoe-in for the starting XI this time around. Umpton has finally developed into a mature and well-rounded player and is in his prime years. His biggest strenths are his powerful leg and good vision of the field.

MF Abel Scarloff (24)
Scarloff elected to immediately jump to professional soccer after high school and was a reserve on the WC57 team at a young age. Although he is young, he is highly skilled and has received much hype from Cosumarite media - due to both his play in the Civil Citizenry domestic league (with Fox Zero) as well as his game-winning goal in WC57. Scarloff is an excellent midfielder, but has the scoring abilities of a striker and scores many goals. The departure of the legendary Irvinn Rincon has left a huge hole for Cosumar at the midfielder position - one that Scarloff will hopefully be able to fill.

MF Henry Kueler (28)
Henry Kueler is the little brother of Geoff Kueler, a hall-of-fame gaelic football player. Like his elder brother, Henry is gifted athletically. He has been an all-star midfielder in the FSF for three years running as a member of the successful OAS Royal FC. This is his first time to earn the starting role in a World Cup and should be a valuable asset due to his excellent passing and ball handling.

ST Rikki Varshney (34)
Even at 34, Varhsney is still one of Cosumar's greatest assets. He has led the team in goals in every World Cup he has participated in, and made the all-Atlantian Oceanian team. He knows how to put the ball in the goal, and will find the net in almost every game. Although he plays in the Cafundeu domestic system, Varshney is a patriotic Cosumarite and is desperate for World Cup triumph. This will likely be his final World Cup.

ST Luke Crisalus (31)
Luke Crisalus is Cosumarite royalty, little brother of the Baroness of Crisalus Fief. He is also nephew of the Chiefess of Foreign Relations. His high-up government connections are not the reason he is on the team, however, as he was Cosumar's second leading scorer in World Cups 55-57. He is a crafty player and who excels in creating good shots for himself out of nothing. Although he often misses critical passes, his scoring ability is second to none but Varshney, with whom he makes a feared duo at the striker position.

ST Corey Simmons (28)
This will be Simmons' third World Cup (after an impressive World Cup 56 as a reserve) but inexperience is not an issue. He has been Kaldukosk FC's leading scorer for 5 seasons and has quickly become one of the most feared strikers on the Cosumarite squad. He has been criticized for being a detriment to the team's locker room atmosphere at times, but his lightning-quick speed and brute force are elite.

ST Francois Renault (21)
Renault elected to immediately jump to professional football after finishing high school, three years ago. He watched from the bench as a reserve in WC57, but has developed and matured as a player since then. Renault, like his cousin Giovanni Aldinne, is an extremely promising young prospect whom the coaches hope will be a vital part of Cosumar's future. World Cup 58 will be a chance for him to get a taste of the cream of the crop and further hone his skills as a starter.

The Reserves

GK Tomi Koskinen (20)
This year, Koskinen has emerged as one of the best young stars in Cosumar. At only 20 years old, he dominated Cosumar's collegiate league by allowing only 0.4 goals per game. He has speedy reflexes like you've never seen before, but is a bit inexperienced. He is poised to take the starting goalie position in the future if he has a successful outing in this World Cup. He has declared for the FSF (which begins after the World Cup) so many scouts will be watching him.

DF Phillip O'Hair (24)
"Red-Head O'Hair", as he's known in Cosumar, has been a consistent defender in the FSF for a few years now and has been selected to the National Team for the first time. He lacks elite speed and agility, but has fantastic ball-handling skills, a catapult for a leg, and rarely makes mistakes. He will be a reliable backup useful for when a pair of fresh legs are needed.

DF Tae Woo Miyori (21)
Miyori is another young star with a bright future in Cosumarite football. Miyori beat out veteran Joel Novamo (a starter in WC 55, and a reserve in WC 56) to make the team. His best attribute is his speed. Miyori is currently the fastest player on the team. Riley has taken Miyori under his wing. Miyori will not play much, but this Cup will be a valuable learning experience for him.

DF Endyl Paru (27)
Paru is a Cosumarite native currently playing overseas in Sarrbia. He is one of the Sarrbian league's perennial all-stars and is something of a celebrity (adored by hordes of fangirls). He is a solid all-round player with a fierce competitive spirit,his greatest asset being his relentless mentality. He lacks the pure talent of Riley but can definitely hold his own agaisnt any opposition.

MF Leland Burke (31)
Burke has been one of Cosumar's top midfielders for a long time. Although he has won many FSF titles with Mallox, playing on the National Team has always been a goal of his. Though nearing the end of his career, Burke will finally accomplish his goal as a first-time reserve in WC58. Burke is incredibly experienced and always makes correct decisions, even under pressure. He will be a fantastic mentor to the team's young midfielders and provide that tough edge the Dragons need at the position.

MF Giovanni Aldinne (22)
Aldinne recently completed college, and will enter the FSF following this World Cup. Aldinne, like his cousin Francois Renault, is an extremely promising young prospect whom the coaches hope will be a vital part of Cosumar's future. World Cup 58 will be a chance for him to get a taste of the cream of the crop and further hone his skills. Coaches claimed that Aldinne could have been a starter this year, but elected to go with the experience of Kueler for that role instead. Needless to say, Aldinne will receive plenty of playing time nonetheless.

ST Sur Arora (18)
Arora just graduated from high school and has been recognized by scouts as having extreme amounts of star potential. He genuinely loves the game and has been described by coaches as being "one of the hardest workers they ever coached". He is so fluid in his motions, acceleration, and ball control that it's almost scary. Given a few years, Arora could be one of the best in the world. As of now though, he is inexperienced, lacks endurance and toughness, and is easily intimidated.

ST Fobi Na'Leus (31)
Na'Leus, a Vloo, is the second of three non-humans on the team. He was a starter in the last World Cup, but has age has caught up with him a bit and he has returned to the ranks of the reserves to make room for the likes of Renault. Na'Leus has the athleticism and ball-handling skills to thrive in this role, but must strive to avoid the bone-headed decisions and poor awareness problems that were his downfall in the last World Cup.

ST Ejegefe Na'Safeh (19)
Ejegefe Na'Safeh (pronounced: Eh-hey-heff-eh, Nah-Soff-eh) is a young Vloo football phenomenon from the remote Na'Malsile Isles of Cosumar. Na'Leus serves as Na'Safeh's mentor, as Na'Safeh is a young talent that needs much guidance. Na'Safeh is inconsistent and erratic, at times magnificent and at times sloppy. He will not play much in this World Cup.

Coaching Staff and Team Captains

Manager: Farris Crowley

After a phenomenal debut as Manager in World Cup 54, and an even more impressive efforts in World Cups 55-57, Farris Crowley will return to lead the Dragons towards greatness in World Cup 57. Crowley was a somewhat successful player in Cosumar's domestic league many years ago and has since taken to coaching. He is currently 51 years of age and has a very stoic personality most of the time.

Assistant Manager: Bernard Hotheryo

This is Hotheryo's first World Cup as Assistant Manager. He recently coached for Cosumar in the 32nd and 33rd AOCAF. Hotheryo has been a successful Manager for Cosumarite Sekundar Ligan club Pelethas United for 17 years. Hotheryo is 55 years old.

Team Captain: William Riley
Defenders' Captain: William Riley
Midfielders' Captain: Henry Kueler
Forwards' Captain: Rikki Varshney

Kit

Cosumar's uniforms for World Cup 58, made for the team by Barrengeka Kits of Astograth. The uniform has been applauded by fans and the media, featuring Cosumar's national colors: silver and navy blue as well as the Cosumarite Azure Dragon, the symbol of Cosumar. The keeper's uniform is gold and green, the royal family's colors. They are the same kits the team used in World Cups 56 and 57.

Yesopalitha Flames National Soccer Team

History

Soccer, or football, as it is commonly known, is a relatively new sport to Yesopalitha, as the Unbidden have always traditionally liked Basketball and Baseball more. However, with the founding of Yesopalitha and the ending of tensions between Bidden and Unbidden, soccer became introduced, and took off. It is currently the fastest growing sport in Yesopalitha, with an average of a hundred more local clubs starting a year. Although it would be foolish to think that this trend will continue, many are welcoming it.

Yesopalitha Government Initiative #313

Halfway through the recent Baptism of Fire, the Yesopalithan Sports Committee was asked by the High Council to start integrating non-humans into national teams, stating that not letting other races compete in Sports didn't portray the type of image that Yesopalitha wished the world to see. Initiative #313 was passed - which requires by law for any and all Yesopalithan National sports teams' rosters to have at least one third but no more than two thirds of their players be Unbidden. Please remember when reading age that a Vampire never ages.

Enough chit chat, here's the stuff you're actually looking for:

Azrael National Football Team
Futbaltim Nasionali du Azriel

Introduction: The passion for football is apparent in the ways Azraen fans take to the streets and pile in the Stadion Nasionali (National Stadium) to view all of Azrael's international matches, whether home or abroad (through a large television screen located on the field). It was inevitable the Azrael national team would enter the World Cup and Baptism of Fire the first chance they got. And now that they have been crowned BoF champions, the Azrael national selection shall be looking for even greater success. This roster won't be affected by their undefeated BoF run and will be willing to conquer anything that comes in their path without giving up. Now on the eve of qualification, Azrael is preparing the hardest they can for all that lies ahead.

West Guiana National Soccer Team

The WGNST is playing in its second World Cup Qualifying Round,the team as a whole isn't as un-experienced as they were before they have been in the past. As coming form a nation and a people who could care less about the sport of soccer the team has learned and made sure that it is their mission to do as good as they are able against much better and qualified teams. The teams over all record in the World Cup is a 4-2-8 mark they earned during the teams first try at qualification in World Cup 56.

Head Coach
Image
Named head coach of the national soccer team in July, 2011, Mick Temist has never coached in international play however as coach of the domestic FC Gemsbrook he posted a record of 34-13-17 over a three term with the team before quitting to take up his current job. Since becoming head coach he has tought his players one "lesson play like there's no tomorrow". His inexperience has been a concern amoungst people with in West Guiana however though they believe wiith him at the helm the national team can go to great legnths.

Cup of Harmony Champions
Post World Cup 26; Post World Cup 32
Style -1 (3-1-3-2 or 4-3-1-2)

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 1 ] Ronji Miiastara [ - Marine Coast (Vilita) - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Miiastara joined Marine Coast United in Vilita for their V-League 27 campaign in the Declasse, just the second ever for the club at that level. Miiastara was tasked with keeping the ball out of the net, and he did just that, helping lead Marine Coast United back to the Stellar Division at the first attempt leading up to V-League 28.

[ 82 ] Mumau Atla-Siioai [ - Turoki United (Vilita) - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
A Dual Vilita & Turori National, Atla-Siioai was invited to the Vilitan World Cup 57 Training camp - but so were 6 other goalkeepers. Atla-Siioai transferred from the Kionao Locals to Vilitan side Turoki United for the V-League 27 season. While his play for Turoki was solid, the impact of Atla-Siioai's presence was most evident back in Turori as the Locals were relegated from the V-League with a club record 20 defeats. While showing the importance of having Atla-Siioai in the squad, the fact that the Goalkeeper left the Locals high and dry has not left a good impression on their Turorian fanbase.

[ 86 ] Hooizo Nuakoi [ - Yeaddin Owls (Vilita) - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Nuakoi, a dual Vilitan & Turorian national, entered World Cup 58 qualifying uncapped and undeclared for either Nation. Nuakoi was widely expected to openly declare Turorian Nationality going into the qualifying, but with the rise of rival Ronji Miiastara, Nuakoi decided to leave the door open to a Vilitan return should he remain uncapped for Turori.

DEFENDERS:

[ 2 ] Yoains Konoaafeo [ - Cednia Beach AFC (TUR) - ]
------- D RLC ( AGE: 20 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Konoaafeo was the top defensive product of the Yeaddin Academy and was expected to be part of the Vilitan national team set up due to this fact. However, after not being capped during World Cup 57 Qualifying, and learning of Turori's intention to enter World Cup 58, Konoaafeo switched allegiances both for club and country. After playing half of V-League 26 with the Kionao Locals, Konoaafeo moved to Cednia Beach AFC where he would lead the Coconut Kickers to their second V-League championship, being named Turorian player of the season in the process.

[ 3 ] Lioniaa Tana [ - Eastal Lunar (Vilita) - ]
------- D/DM LC ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Tana is one of the most athetlically skilled defensive players in the Turorian arsenal, although Tana's weakness shines in technical areas like heading and man to man marking. After starting their career at Vilitan side Rammsissil, Tana moved to Eastal Lunar FC during V-League 27.

[ 12 ] Diauro Dlaminii [ - Cednia Beach AFC - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Dlaminii started his career at Vilitan lower league side Alona Sissil where he impressed greatly, warranting interest from all the top named V-League sides. Dlaminii eventually decided to head home to Turori, signing with Cednia Beach AFC where he competed in all of the clubs V-League 27 matches.

[ 5 ] Noa-isinao Wioauoi [ - Makosile (Vilita) - ]
------- D RLC ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Noa-isinao Wioauoi ws a product of the Yeaddin Academy who caught the eye of one Yeaddin reporter at a training session doing ball handling tricks, and the shared video went viral, sparking a campaign including a fan website and even local town council requests to invite the youngster into the Vilita National Team training camp for World Cup 57. Wioauoi was invited to the camp, but never impressed coaches Massa and Wrice enough to be capped during the process. Wioauoi, born in Turori despite leaving in Vilita, accepted an invitation from the Football Association of Turori to train with them in preparation for a playing role in the World Cup 58 Qualifiers

[ 4 ] Balariita Muzmaara [ - Terrarokka Spirit (Vilita) - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Muzmaara, one of the youngest players ever invited to a Turorian National Team training camp (Ignoring the Cocoboas)

[ 61 ] Moia Fliporta [ - Laiotia Locals (Vilita) - ]
------- D/DM L ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Fliporta started their career at Laiotia Locals in the Non-League system of Vilita. Known for aerobic ability such as speed, acceleration and the ability to jump higher than most anyone on the pitch, Fliporta is otherwise not particularly great at the technical aspects of the game.

UTILITY PLAYERS:

[ 22 ] Restiaa Mumamba [ - Yeaddin Owls (Vilita) - ]
------- ATH ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Mumamba has been the definition of a versatile player for Vilita's Yeaddin Owls since joining them for the V-League 27 season from Jlinal Cove FC. Mumamba has played in every position from Central Defender to Striker, scoring a game winning goal in one game and a game saving tackle in the next. Mumamba is an expert choice for a third sub or to allow tactical changes on the pitch without substitutions being made.

MIDFIELDERS:

[ 7 ] Rikko Rawaii [ - Arcticala Inlet (Vilita) - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Rawaii's dribbling ability coupled with lightning pace make him a threat any time he touches the ball, to create something even from nothing with a few quick moves. Rawaii is not known so much as a goalscorer, instead, an opportunity creator.

[ 17 ] Cediici Tzatzos [ - Strike FC (Vilita) - ]
------- M R ( AGE: 21 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
A determined winger, Tzatzos is a product of the Strike Academy and has remained a bit-part player for the club since the Vilitan League resumed for Season 26.

[ 13 ] Vrotaoa Lorasoiba [ - Arcticala Inlet (Vilita) - ]
------- M C ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Lorasoiba's impressive performances for Turoki United, including 5 goals during the V-League 26 season, earned a high-value transfer to top Vilitan side Arcticala Inlet AFC. While it took Lorasoiba some time to get settled into life on the big Island, Lorasoiba's performances were enough to get an invitation to the Turori National Training camp for World Cup 58.

[ 6 ] Raso Tareak [ - Jlinal Cove FC (Vilita) - ]
------- M C ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Tareak joined Jlinal Cove FC in Vilita for V-League 26 helping the club to a respectable 8th place finish. In V-League 27, Tareak's peformances improved with a pair of goals helping Jlinal to an all-time best finish of 4th place in the standings.

[ 38 ] Tiika Diirotora [ - Cedna Beach AFC - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Diirotora is a dedicated and well travelled midfielder who made a name for themselves while leading Kiiarana City to the Vilitan Cup Final in V-League 27. After starting their career in the Liguon Valley, Diirotora made the leap to the Stellar Division for Season 27 and the move payed off with 4 goals and a post season transfer back home to Turori with mega-club Cednia Beach AFC.

[ 16 ] Rutaj Ranaso [ - Eastal Lunar (Vilita) - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Ranaso moved from Turori to the nearby island of Turoki to play for Mavaloiao FC in the Vilitan Declasse when the league resumed for Season 26. After 2 strong seasons at the Declasse side, Ranaso transferred to Stellar Division side Eastal Lunar for V-League Season 28.

FORWARDS:

[ 8 ] Liinai Zakazaka [ - Jlinal Cove FC (Vilita) - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Zakazaka joined Jlinal Cove FC for the V-League 27 season and gained some attention back in Turori for their contribution to the 'Cove's impressive top-4 finish in the final standings

[ 18 ] Loala Kigoouao [ - Morata Valley (Vilita) - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Kigoouao signed for Morata Valley FC for V-League 26 and instantly made an impact at the Vilitan club, earning Top Goalscorer honors in the Declasse while leading Morata Valley to Stellar Division Promotion. Kigoouao was unfazed by the higher level of competition, upping the goal count to 16 in Season 27 and firmly setting the expectation that they would be the go-to forward for the Turori National Team in World Cup 58.

[ 9 ] Anuh Ciniima [ - Morata Valley (Vilita) - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Ciniima was born in Turori to Misrantian parents before moving to Vilita to study and train for his sporting career. The unselfish striker joined Morata Valley after their promotion to the Stellar Division for Season 27 as a compliment to Turorian Striker Loala Kigoouao. Ciniima, while able to put the ball in the net when needed, has shown to be an expert decision maker, recording twice as many assists as goals inside the box.

[ 19 ] Jukkia Diijelhma [ - Kionao Locals - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 19 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 )
Born in Starblaydia, Diijelhma moved to Turori following V-League Season 26 to pursue a new career in the Island Emirate. Diijelhma was one of the few Kionao Locals players in their disasterous V-League 27 season to receive even neutral reviews. Despite scoring no goals on the season, the Striker showed some skill that will be required for the Locals to avoid another relegation in Season 28, and could also be useful for the Turori National team.

FULL ROSTER:
(Caps in brackets indicate appearances from the bench)

Coach: Sol Kirkkegaard, 54
Sol Kirkkegaard is the finest tactical mind our nation has ever produced, and has guided his teams to success almost without fail, with a calm and cool exterior that does nothing to hint at what his calculative mind is thinking. He rarely flaps under pressure, and is well respected by fans, players, and press alike. He was the natural choice to lead our nation into the development of their first official international team, and carefully assessed the players through the exhibition A vs B and Road To The World Cup matches, the link to which can be found in my signature. Through this he developed a key core of players to rely on, and whilst many of them are reaching the tail end of their international careers now, he is nurturing a second wave of talented youngsters to lead the Terns further on with the help of U21s coach Gregorz van der Riise. For this cycle, many of these youngsters are getting their first full run in the side, and it is a much changed side to the one that got to third in the last world cup.

Assistant: Joachim Schwartz, 44
Brought in by Sol to cover the absence of Morten Yarbin during the last qualification campaign, former indoor soccer coach Joachim Schwartz has now been appointed the position on a permanent basis. Despite being used to coaching on a smaller pitch, he very much advocates the use of wingers, and as such has found himself at odds with Sol's preferred tactics on a number of occasions. It is Sol's belief that this difference in professional opinion will provide a healthy and progressive atmosphere with which to coach, and shouldn't be discouraged at all. He's hard nosed, and tough to win over, but incredibly forceful and a powerful personality on the sidelines.

#1 - GK - Lars Hegg Gammel - Age 29 - Avidia United (Krytenia) - 61 Caps, 1 Assist
Lars moved abroad to Cotdelapoms in order to try and win a place in the Terns squad, fearing he'd never get the chance if he stayed stuck behind Atle Andreasson at SK. The move have paid off, replacing first Atle on the bench, and then Karlsson in the starting line up. His talent is undeniable, and his quick reactions were key to the Terns claiming the third place medals at the last World Cup, keeping their only clean sheet of the finals as they beat Krytenia 1-0. Following the collapse of the Cotdelapomais league, it was this performance that alerted his presence to Krytenia giants Avidia United, for whom he now earns his living.

#2 - DR - Zacharias Juul - Age 22 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 2(2) Caps
Called up but never used in previous senior squads, Juul was once again been called up for the Copa as backup to Thor Lossler, but some impressive subsitute performances saw him win the starting position on a permanent basis. He is fast, a natural leader, and calm and confident on the ball, and will make waves at this tournament following his move to Jan Mayen Islanders.

#3 - DC - Sander Ljungberg - Age 26 - SK Franz Josef City - 40(11) Caps, 4 Assists, 1 Goal
With his movement, dependability, and extravagant tackling, Sander Ljungberg has proved himself to be a natural and worthy successor to Maarten Berg. Berg's retirement had left something of a hole in the heart of Sol's oft-favoured plans, but Ljungberg showed that all was not lost, and its almost as if he's been in the side all along. Has a turn of speed that can keep up with almost anything any fleet-footed strikers might try to pull on him, and with Kowalski next to him, the two are sure to be hard to get past.

#4 - DC - Jan Kowalski - Age 28 - East Franz Athletic - 20(6) Caps, 1 Goal
Being thrown in at the deep end is as good a way to start off your international career as any I suppose, and Jan Kowalski did just that. An imposing presence at the centre of the park for East Franz, he was a dependable substitute at the last World Cup, scoring a fluke goal in the group stage against The Holy Empire, and with the retirement of the imperious Niko Marek he will be looking to prove that the starting place in the lineup deserves to be his. Almost a sweeper, he will hang back and mop up any spillages before the keeper is needed, using his quick burst of pace to surprise attackers.

#5 - DL - Steffan Pekarik - Age 32 - FC Axel Heiburg[/i] - 116(8) Caps, 14 Assists, 4 Goals
Equally at home on the right or the left side of defence, Steffan's sweet left boot has brought his influential wingplay to the attention of an international audience. Now tearing up the pitch for FC Axel Heiburg after moving back home to "calm down a bit", his attacking instincts are suited perfectly to Sol's 'iceberg' formation, relying so much on the full-backs as it does. Might have lost a bit of his pace recently, but that hasn't stopped his desire to win and is one of only a few remnants from the first WC squad.

#6 - DMC - Jorgen Hauge - Age 26 - Battle (Zarbli) - 73(4) Caps, 9 Assists, 8 Goals - CAPTAIN
A well established played in the Zarblese Duke League, Hauge was snapped up by Battle from Cross SC a few seasons ago, and hasn't looked back since. Now a regular in the starting lineup for the Terns, his marauding presence in front of the defence means attackers can't relax for a second. A long future in the national team beckoned for Jorgen, who is impressively large even by Polarian standards, and he has a fearsome reputation that has led to him being given the captain's armband, such is the level of importance he holds for the Terns. If he does his job correctly, it allows others to do theirs more easily, and he sees everything that happens on the pitch. Not bad with and from set pieces, either.

#7 - AMC - Luc Demarchelier - Age 29 - Cafundó do Juta (Cafundéu) - 75(33) Caps, 53 Assists, 12 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
Demarchelier was a key part of the Terns reaching the third place spot at the recent world cup. Naturally more of a driving attacking midfielder than a dictatorial playmaker, he will have to get used to playing a deeper role by the looks of the squad Kirkkegaard has assembled. Demarchelier impressed enough whilst in the now defunct Mytanar leagues to ensure plenty of playing time during the world cup, with his fantstic cross for Marek in the third place playoff thought to be one of many reasons he was snapped up by the Cafundulense giants of Cafundó do Juta. His powerful runs with the ball seemingly glued to his feet are a regular sight during the closing parts of many matches, as his stamina will terrify tiring defenders. When Demarchelier is on form, the ball seems glued to his feet, and now at last, with van Jendrisen out of the squad through injury, this is his time.

#8 - MC - Petter Bielsen - Age 34 - Iturributa United (Astograth) - 113(14) Caps, 21 Assists, 6 Goals
A much loved feature of life in the Astograth League, Iturributa United veteran Petter Bielsen continues to be a vital player for the Terns, where his tenacity and drive to succeed is surpassed by none. Accurate and fierce in the tackle, his weaknesses are few and his stamina high. Don't expect to see mistakes from this veteran, he's pretty much done and seen everything there is to in the game, and his calming presence on the pitch will be inspirational for the younger members of the squad.

#9 - ST - Timo Skye - Age 33 - Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth) - 135(4) Caps, 23 Assists, 88 Goals
The nation's leading goalscorer, there isn't much that can be said about the enigmatic Skye that hasn't already been said. A classic central striker, his unswerving accuracy and nimble off-ball movement has tormented defences around the world and led to him being one of the players most likely to turn heads amongst fans and journalists alike. His infamous temper, ego, and opinions can often get him into trouble, but he is the first name on the team sheet every time. With half an eye on the raft of talented youngsters lurking in the wings, he is setting out to build a legacy that will last forever, aiming to reach his hundredth goal for his country this cycle, which he knows may be his last.

#10 - ST - Patrick Ackermann-Finn - Age 31 - Ranca Toco (Cafundéu) - 106(12) Caps, 17 Assists, 49 Goals
Ackermann-Finn is a tall and wiry striker, who excels at holding up the ball for his strike partner, or heading in from tight angles. Moved abroad to Cafundéu in order to try and learn from one of the highest ranked leagues in the world, Patrick has returned a more learned and experienced player, and don't be surprised if he quietly outshines and steals the spotlight from Skye without all that much fanfare. Captained the squad to the final of the Copa Rushmori a while ago, and this model professional never stops seeking to improve his game.

#11 - DMC - Iulian Finnibaturinn - Age 22 - Therakham ZL (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu) - 2(1) Caps
Iulian has nine caps, two assists, and one goal for the U-21s, and although hirst first team performances have been limited so far, his performances have Jorgen Hauge and Pol Sundstrom looking over their shoulders nervously. He's a commanding presence, and likes to sit as part of a central midfield pair, supporting a more attack-minded partner and protecting the defence. He can also be used to swing free-kicks from long range for attackers to head attempts at goal, and though his shooting isn't that good he is labelled as a star of the future, and could make a real name for himself at this tournament.

#12 - GK - Jan Rasmus - Age 24 - FC Axel Heiburg - 0(1) Caps
Rasmus has six caps for the U21s, and was first choice at the Draggonnii Inviyatti. He is tall and agile, and might as well have springs in his heels for the height he can achieve with a jump, and a surprisingly long reach that confounds many a strikers' efforts. He can be a star of the future if shown the ropes, and this taste of the big tournaments is essential.

#13 - GK - Mathias Marek - Age 31 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 4(4) Caps
Younger brother of captain Niko, penalty shoot-out specialist Mathias was the hero of the Burchadinger Cup and a World Cup quarter final, coming on to both score and save penalties as a last minute substitution. Is in the squad again, though many feel the older Andreasson would have been the safer choice, nonetheless he is a dependable keeper for Jan Mayen and his hunger for success drives him onwards at all times.

#14 - ST/AMC - Alexsandr van Sorensen - Age 23 - CR Submiria (Cafundéu) - 28(44) Caps, 19 Assists, 23 Goals
Bright young prodigy Alexsandr is only 23, but is already a key and regular figure in the Tern dressing room. Played a vital role for Jan Mayen before his move to Cafundéu where he continues to impress and is learning every day. Suffers from rare brain condition synaesthesia, but manages to not let this affect his attractive attacking play. Captained the U-21s in the Draggonnii Inviyatti, and likes to link in from the midfield, playing as either a deep lying striker or a forward thinking midfielder or trequartista, applying his explosive acceleration and going on mazy dribbles that often end in a shot from his sweet right boot. Could change a game in an instant, and could become an all-time legend. Expect him to quietly rack up some impressive statistics this cycle.

#15 - ML - Sebastian Jorgensen - Age 28 - AFC Tranzversa (Swartaz) - 2(1) Caps
In the squad thanks to the tenacious arguing of Joachim Schwartz, Jorgensen has a chance to star for the national team depending on the formation being played at the time. Moved to Swartaz not so long ago from boyhood club Islay Town Mechanical, and the Terra Scotian outfit have certainly missed him. His lightning runs down the left often end with a drilled cross, which will suit the nimble feet of Irndtor, Aer, van Sorensen, and Skye just fine.

#16 - DMC - Pol Sundstrom - Age 31 - Sherwood FC (Civil Citizenry) - 34(28) Caps, 4 Assists, 3 Goal
Hard as nails and solid as a rock, Pol Sundstrom and Jorgen Hauge playing in the same midfield is a truly intimidating prospect for opposition. Accurate in the tackle and excellent at keeping the ball and slowing down the play, Pol could come on to seal games against feisty attacking opposition searching for equalisers, and has a solid header from corners and free-kicks. Is looking over his shoulder at Iulian Finnibaturinn nervously, but his experience sees him make the squad ahead of Henning Tir this time around.

#17 - ST - Amadeus Irndtor - Age 27 - SK Franz Josef City - 17(27) Caps, 2 Assists, 15 Goals
With a lethal left boot and a sixpence turning circle, this speedy player is getting his big chance in the squad, with an ageing first choice front line more open to the idea of substitution. His recent performances from the bench at the world cup will have him brimming with confidence, as will his performance for SK as they won the title last season, outshining Dei Ormache as an attacking force and revelling in front of attacking midfielders like Alexio Del Nieran and Robin Hjik as he romped to the top goalscorer accolade. If he is to come on, expect Sol to build the support around him with an attacking midfield to work from.

#18 - MR - Jon Kjaer - Age 24 - SK Franz Josef City - 2(1) Caps, 2 Assists
With six caps and three assists for the U-21s, Kjaer was a victim of Sol's tactical preference when it comes to his national side potential, and this marks his second call up thanks to Schwartz's persuasion. Nonetheless, he seems to have always been around, and the fact he's only twenty-four catches many by surprise, as he is a regular and feared feature of the SK starting lineup. Was devastating at the first ever Ides of March Cup, and was there again to claim another medal last time around. Fast and full of tricks.

#19 - DR - Thor Lossler - Age 24 - SK Franz Josef City - 4 Caps
Lossler has made appearances for the U-21s, and was in the Copa Rushmori squad at Gregorz van der Riise's suggestion. He's fast, and wicked with a cross, but his attacking ambitions can sometimes leave his teammates exposed. When he's focused on the defensive task at hand however, not much gets past him. An exciting prospect, he has propelled himself into the starting lineup for the league champions, and can make an international impact here.

#20 - ST - Tomas Aer - Age 24 - Ituraitz FC (Astograth) - 3(1) Caps, 1 Goal
With three caps and three goals for the U-21s, Tomas Aer is a player on a mission to finally prove he can turn it out for the seniors. Was never able to nail down a starting place in the line at Jan Mayen Islanders, and so moved to reignite his career after the Kuril seaplane accident at Astograthi side Ituraitz FC. He still has a way to mature properly, but he fans are adamant that this exciting striker is a diamond just waiting to be cut.

#21 - DL - Robin Arnfeldt - Age 26 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 2 Caps
Quietly putting in solid and understated performances week after week, Arnfeldt won't normally catch the eye, but you notice if he isn't playing. One of the most laid back characters you could ever meet, he wasn't expecting a call-up, but was pleasantly surprised to realise the press were applauding the decision. Calm, collected, and never panicked, if there's a player you'd want to see with the ball at his feet, facing the goal, with three attackers pressuring him, its Arnfeldt.

#22 - DC - Mikkel Hangeland - Age 24 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 1(1) Caps
Despite nine appearances for the U-21s, Hangeland never quite made the jump to the national team. Since then however, he has been making more of a name for himself at Jan Mayen, and has really grown into his boots. With Marek leaving football altogether after this season, he has been working extra hard to prove himself a capable replacement, and will use this chance to do just that.

#23 - DC - Torre Urfstadt - Age 22 - FC Torshavn - 1(1) Caps
Urfstadt is one of the most exciting prospects to come from the Torshavn ranks in a long time, and has been a crucial part of Torshavn's continued presence in Divisjon One. More than a few scouts from the bigger clubs have turned up to see him play, but Urfstadt claims for now he is remaining loyal. Fast, powerful, and aggressive his enthusiasm is unmatched, and once the finer points of positioning and leadership reveal themselves to him, he will be a formidable player. Expect his 6'8" frame to be a danger in the opposing penalty box as well.

TACTICS:
The Polarian game is fast, quick, and physical. They won't give you a second on the ball to think, and they won't hold back in the tackle. It is an attack minded game, though when the full backs bomb forward, expect to see Hauge hang back to mop up any counter attacks. In the centre of the park they will play a possession based midfield game, though a defence splitting pass could come at any moment towards the fast and direct strikers.
'The Iceberg', a narrow 4-3-1-2 (Though check my previous RP for the next starting line-up)
-------------------- Gammel --------------------
- Juul --- Ljungberg -- Kowalski --- Pekarik -
------ Bielsen -- Hauge -- Demarchelier ------
----------------- van Sorensen ---------------
----------- Skye -- Ackermann-Finn ----------

Though, as an alternative, perhaps expect to see something like this:
-------------------- Gammel --------------------
- Juul --- Ljungberg -- Kowalski --- Pekarik -
----------- Hauge -- Finnibaturinn -----------
--- Kjaer ----- Demarchelier ----- Jorgensen ---
---------------------- Skye ----------------------

"The Cannons"

Formation: 3-4-3
Style Modifier: +3

Coach: Karra Caroline Thunder

(Jeru FC WC57 coach)

She’s legally a member of one of the Bears’ clans but biologically human: Her father, our national team’s first manager, was adopted into the clan (and thus into the nation) shortly after he’d led the Belles not only to BoF victory but also to World Cup qualification at their first attempt, so she grew up in a strongly football-oriented background, and she’s also got experience as a deputy manager of the Belles (under Marra SunDaughter, not under her own father) under her belt…

Assistant Coach: Princess Shay Sasha Dallas (former Jeruselem WC player and Naked News Jeruselem reporter)

GK (M,32) - Cleopetra - He's actually a man undergoing a sex change
GK (M,32) - Saddam Insane - Thinks he's God's gift to the world

DEF (M,32) - Handiball - Known for hand balling constantly on purpose
DEF (M,32) - "Colonel" Grafiti - Artist and serial grafiti wall spray painter. Not actually a Colonel.
DEF (M,32) - Tutty Carman - Plagued by dreams of being mummified
DEF (M,32) - Sillyman - A silly sod who likes really tall turkish hats
DEF (M,32) - Napolean - Short fella with bad attitude and happens to be French
DEF (M,32) - CLive Churchbell - Fat and stupid like a churchbell

MID (M,32) - Adolf Hittem - The resident Nazi
MID (M,32) - Richard the Chicken - Brave words and bravodo but a really a coward
MID (M,32) - Alexander the Grunt - Leader of team but a bit of a pig with no table manners
MID (M,32) - Muggie Thatch - The "Iron" man of the team. Hates softies.

Former Oasirican Republic of Ossidiacqua

Roster for the Baptism of Fire

Image

BACKGROUND:
Ossidiacqua is a nation coming blinking into the light of the international community. In what seems like mere months ago for most nations, as Oasirica, they sent a team to the Baptism of Fire. Meanwhile, at home, with a terrible disease name la Plaga ravaging the country, the academics of the nation prepared to put up a time wall around the central hospital that would allow medics and scientists on the inside to spend months developing a cure or vaccine for la Plaga, whilst only days passed outside the time wall, allowing the maximum population to be saved. However, it went wrong, and the time wall surrounded the entire nation, cutting off the baptism of fire squad. Months passed outside the wall, whilst inside it, la Plaga decimated the native population, leaving Djocorangan refugees in the nation untouched, ensuring they became the primary caregivers and nation re-builders. Many of the isolated team could not take being torn apart form their families and homeland, and more than a few committed suicide during their separation. Many others, upon being reunited, decided they

The time wall eventually dissipated after 270 years, labelled 'The Pause Time' by those inside the wall, revealing the nation of Ossidiacqua to the world for the first time. It was a much changed place, the weather, land, and cities had all changed, and the genetic heritage of the population had shifted from 99% Oasirican and 1% Other, to 97% Djocorangan and 3% Old Oasirican and the paragraphs below the roster go some way to explaining some of what has happened as a consequence. You are also encouraged to read the series of RPs written during the BoF, as they will provide a lot of back story that informs this complicated nation:

ROSTER:
After the wall fell, the Ossidiacquan Football Federation was aware of the Baptism of Fire team being sent, and upon hearing of how they finished as runners-up in the end, and being informed that they hadn't missed the start of world cup qualification, decided that they still had a contract to fulfil, and got together a team to play in these qualifiers. Many of the isolated team, nicknamed the Lost Boys, could not take being torn apart form their families and homeland, and more than a few committed suicide during their separation. The others, upon being reunited, decided they could not carry on playing football, and decided to give up the sport as they tried to come to terms with what had happened. A few have stayed on in advisory roles, but as a mark of respect for their fallen comrades, the survivors of the Lost Boys have decided that this qualification has come too soon, and the wounds are still too deep.

For now, this is the new squad put together by the OFA, nicknamed La Renaissance.

Home Stadium: An archaic stone construction in the centre of Sant'Elia, Il Colosseo. Lit by oil lamps and featuring vast walls of stained glass, it seats 103,450 and is a treasured landmark, being one of the first building built by Acquans following the eradication of la Plaga, as the nation began to reinvent itself during the Pause Time. With help from the international community, it will be undergoing renovations during the qualifiers, though no games will be affected by this.

FURTHER BACKGROUND:
The land of Oasirica was a large and beautiful one. After suffering the ravages of an unpredictable climate and loss of knowledge during the Pause Time, it ha been transformed by the Djocorangan survivors of la Plaga into the Former Oasirican Republic of Ossidiacqua. Consisting of one main island and a handful of surrounding smaller ones, it can be found towards the north-west of the Vatmark region of Rushmore. The capital city of Sant'Elia is by far the biggest conurbation, and it whilst it used to shine with its golden spires and silver domes, it is now a shambolic and chaotic mix of alleyways and squares and piazzas, though the Acquans are making every effort to restore the city to its former glory, even getting the steam powered monorail back up and running, and employing a dirigible courier service.

Clean running water used to flow across the land and around the cities in an extensive network of aqueducts, channels, and canals. The continued eruption of volcanoes in the large Patriarchate of Vul in the east of the country during the Pause Time has affected this however, located over extensive mineral deposits as they were. These deposits included a huge amount of obsidian, obsidian that was distributed through the land in huge quantities, tainting the water, and giving the nation its new name. The water the flows is now nearly jet black in colour, and requires extensive treatment before it can be used as drinking water, leading the Acquans to rely on condensers that extract moisture from the dry air and from boiled off water vats often situated near rivers. These condensers often break, and are fixed by tech-priests who use mainly copycat work and educated guesses rather than any informed ability to fix and maintain the machines, the knowledge for which died with the rapid spread of la Plaga. The weather is taking longer to recover from the time wall than expected, and the land whilst not particularly hot, is still exceptionally dry. The Oasiricans were a highly educated and cultured race, and the fall and loss of knowledge is embarrassing to the Acquans.

The patriarchate governmental system has moved from the old religion to one offering praise to a mechanical deity of no name, only various titles, with tech-priests and those in the Magisterium holding a high amount of respect.

Football in Ossidiacqua is the national sport, and support is fanatical. The Campiocinato continued during the Pause Time as a way to keep spirits up, and has been running for 313 seasons as the football league structure in the country, with three divisions, A-Liga, B-Liga, and C-Liga. The league has dominated by the three big Sant'Elia clubs; CA Conquistadores (63 Campiocinatos), Condensadores CD (62), Caballeros CF (58), as well as by Qolo-Qolo (46). Internazionale (23), Atletico Sant'Elia (17), Unión Gimignano CF (17), AS Débardeurs Nationale (11), Magisterio AC (9), Académica di Terrabianco (4), RCD San Marco (1), Clube Cobreloa (1), and FC Sommieres Hibernia (1) are the other clubs to have sealed a title so far. Most big clubs are represented in the selection of players to go to the World Cup Qualifiers, as they were for the BoF, with captain Ricardo Velasquez, descendant of the legendary captain Stefano Velasquez, looking to unite the usually very partisan fans of the Sant'Elia clubs so that they may get behind and support the team.

The FSSO will be perhaps disappointed that they did not qualify for the 57th World Cup. A brave series of performances could only get them to 3rd in their qualifying group, but the youth team reached the Quarter Finals of the 20th Di Bradini Cup and the first team have done well in the 5th Market Cup so far, meaning both the large pool of upcoming youth players and the current first choice squad are all raring to go. Hopefully the draw will be kind, as the FSSO could really use a significant rankings boost and world cup qualification would achieve that.

An introduction to the staff

The FSSO team manager is 44 year old Ben Randall. Randall has overseen all of the FSSO’s World Cups so far, and is under pressure to secure qualification this time around with a very strong squad. Despite criticism and accusations of indecisiveness, the public view of Randall is mostly positive; especially because of his influence on the redevelopment of youth football in the FSSO.

His 37 year old assistant Dimitri Campbell, who has been assistant manager for two years, is a recent addition to the coaching staff and a welcomed one. Other staff include head coach Jon Cofely, head physio Robert Pear and of course the FSSO national team mascot, Fuzzy the Deadpan Snarker.
