I have also noticed Chess was added to XKorinate

I dont know if im the only one, but my entries into the International Chess Tournament will be scorinated, starting with number 2! :)

welcome for ramblings, and, either im reading it wrong, or you do not understand what im saying

The soccer/football champions league works like so:

Nations are given ranks, called coefficiants
Nations with higher ranks can enter more teams

Then, the top ranked teams from highly ranked nations, and the top team from middle-ranked nations go straight to the group stage, while lower-ranked teams from highly ranked nations, lowe teams from middle-ranked teams, and all teams from lower-and-unranked nations must play a series of qualifying rounds to reach the group stage

Was this not apparent in my schedule? I'll quote from the IC page's OP.

All match-ups outside of the Group Stage will consist of five-game series between the two players, the player with the most wins advancing.

That means quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals all are 5 match series. Doing a single game would be totally impractical when you have a 50% or more chance of a draw every match.

I must agree

Perhaps 3 for the quarters,
5 for the semis,
and 9 for the final

This is addressed above. Please read the IC page here. 5 match series straight out of the group stage.

Carmadin wrote:[A]lso, on an unrelated note, we should make this like UICA, where nations gain rank by how well their players do, and this determines how many players they may enter next tournament
There can also be qualifying rounds

I can do up some ranks, after the tournament ends, and discuss formulae with the council of elders (Pawn&King, and Novikov)
TG me for questions on that

I'd be happy for any advice. I have space for a ranking system within the Chessinator, I just haven't developed a ranking system because this is the first tournament. Feel free to TG me.

I can enter a puppet, however, this post may get some people looking at it :)

I hope there is room for one more.

Name: Eduard Spiegelmann
Age: 39
Player Biography: The de facto chess champion of the GAR, Spiegelmann took to playing chess since he was 8 years-old. Since then, he has continued playing chess, representing his various schools in chess tournaments and winning numerous prizes and accolades. Spiegelmann was also the winner of the National Chess Tournament at the age of 28, a post which he held consecutively for three years before losing it in a hotly-contested battle. He won the title again two years later at the age of 33 but his reign was short-lived, losing the title a year after winning it. Since then, he has continued to play against other chess players and runs a chess school in Cologne.

Eduard Spiegelmann favors a blitzkrieg-style method of playing chess but is not afraid to go on the defensive when necessary.

I think instead of giving Group A and Group B Champions an advantage by playing 2nd place players you should make it so that the two best Group-winners play the second place players. Just my personal opinion.

It's hardly fair to use points-captured as a tie-breaker (and there's no precedent for this in chess). This means that everything will be determined by number of wins. Seeing as there's only six games in the group stage, this is going to mean a lot of ties (particularly as all players are equal in ranking). That means determining the best Group-winners is going to be immensely tricky, or well-nigh impossible. I think I'll pass on attempting that feat right now, and focus on making this tournament happen. Remember, everyone is ranked the same starting out and everything is randomly scorinated. I don't see playing a 2nd-place player a huge advantage in this circumstance. The possible difference in RP bonus points will not be very much, and anything can happen.

If you could find a way to tie-break, other than having me scorinate dozens of extra matches, I would be happy to use that. But in lieu of that, drop the subject.
