OOC: Doing an overview of the outcome of the war from my Nation's perspective.

The result of the War of Liberation in Leboure had been better then the Government had hoped for, even if it had not been the outright conquest and vassalization of the small principality that the patriotic war-mongers amongst the more general population had been screaming for. While patriotic bloggers grumbled about ''not going far enough'', the Nobility breathed a sigh of Relief.

While it was well within the means of the Holy Empire to indeed engage in 'Liberating' the Principality and establishing a puppet regime, it had been the primary goal based on the presumption that the genocides had been the result of Government policy in Leboure. It turned out however, the Government had indeed been acting on popular Anti theist Zeitgeist, and as troops on the ground had encountered more and more instances of civilians instead of Government agents acting out the crimes against Humanity, the idea of ruling over such people left many among the Nobility and military officials nauseous.

Had the Empire, being among the first of the co-alition to have troops on the ground and holding the largest percentage of territory in Leboure by the end of the war, decided to go ahead and establish a vassal kingship and enforce religious tolerence, it would have been faced with not only an incredibly angry population, which was an expected variable, but one with little to no compunction against acting out on one of the worst and most murderous excesses of Mankind. The resulting policing and reprisals would demoralize the military occupiers, causing many among the common folk to question the worth of the Principality and potentially destablize the government with dissent over the issue. Nobles sent to administrate the Principality would treat it as a form of exile. Re-education and assimilation would take decades at the least and the resulting crack downs would seriously harm the Empire's diplomatic standing, it was already held in enough suspicion for not being apart of the World Assembly or any major Alliance.

Suddenly the Nobility had a nasty empathy with Great Britain over Northern Ireland all those years ago, they must have felt similar. And political pressure was brought to bear to avoid such a hypocritical situation.

The ensuing red-tape held up the military advance considerably, and other nations had already invaded and seized the capital and laid siege to the remnants of the Lebourean government and military while the Irish bickered. Eventually coming around to being content with merely occupying large swathes of the country until the end of the war General Gerard had been immeasureably relieved when the latest in a line of 'Princes' had agreed to an armistace and negotiations. The Home office made it clear that religious freedom was the Irish Marchlands key issue to agreeing to leave the Principality, given it had been the primary casus belli. Once agreed to, the Irish had quickly pulled out of the principality, all that was left was to treat the veterans to a Heroes welcome, proclaim victory, tally the cost, bury the dead and hold many a hero's burial.

"890 confirmed dead, more wounded, only a handful MIA, your Terribleness" General Gerard had said, standing to attention his hat under his arm, an Admiral and their respective command staffs arrayed behind them. "Including armoured and air casualties, sire" he finished.

"Thank you, General," High King Rorie I had said in an even tone, writing something down on a piece of paper. He rose from behind his desk and approached the General and Admiral, arms behind his back. "Your... Handling of the war effort has been commendable." He continued, "All of you. We cannot stress how happy we are with the outcome. You will be rewarded for your efforts to the realm." He finished with a crisp salute, his own military training having not failed him. The company arrayed before the king quickly returned the salute, before turning to exit through the open double doors, pulled closed behind them by two Imperial Household Knights.

"So" Rorie continued, as the Minster of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs reseated, having stood when the King rose from his chair. "What of reparations?" The king asked dryly.

"Do we want any?" Lord Seamus replied honestly, his red face still evident despite having been sober all week, "As far as I was aware, we wanted rid of the issue altogether once we realised how... what was that term you military types liked to use Jim?"

"Fubar" the Minister of defence replied.

"Yes, yes, how fubar the situation was on the ground level. Occupation would have been a nightmare. I say it is better we cut our losses and not worry about extracting reparations out of Leboure and come out of it all looking like enobled knights showing mercy upon the vanquished, the propaganda office is already spinning it that way as we speak."

"I meant reparations towards Leboure not from," The king said, letting out a sigh as he took his seat behind the desk

"I'm sorry?" Lord Seamus asked, an unhappy furrow forming on his brow.

"His Terribleness means the international community will probably expect the Holy Empire to provide aid towards rebuilding leboure after the war, now that it has acquiesced to demands." Lord James Dermott answered. The King nodded.

"But but-!" Lord Seamus blustered "Surely we can get out of it? the Spireans and-and the Greater Pony herd have already make inclinations towards aiding post-war Leboure."

"The greater what now?" Lord James asked, with an admirable poker face, Lord Seamus Scowled at him, before doubting whether James was joking or not, and replying

"Those.... Those pony folk..." Lord Seamus replied, flustered. The High King smirked, goading the old speciest was becoming something of an in joke half the country apparently partook in.

"Regardless," The High King continued, "Be that as it may, lets see if we can get out of this without further involvement. The war in Leboure is over as far as the people are concerned, lets not have them think we could end up spending their taxes aiding in the rebuilding of a country we helped knock down. You are dismissed." The two ministers rose and bowed before exiting the room, quietly talking amongst themselves.

The king returned to reading a copy of War and Peace he was given by his wife, he had hardly made a dent in the door stopper of the book since the war in Leboure had started, and quietly mused to himself that while the other nations busied themselves concerning the situation iN leboure, the Irish Marchlands may just make it out by sneaking through the back door.

A fire broke out last night, destroying parts of the Prince's Palace in Halskar and the nearby Franz Josef Military Hospital. 4 people were killed, while 49 others were injured. Prince Eddy I, suffering from second-degree burn, has been transported by our Douglas DC-6 presidential aircraft "Lebourian Airplane One" to the city of Le Josef (held by Cruxians and Hayabans during the war) in the Great Lebourian Mountains, from which he was brought to the Le Josef City Hospital. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Riots broke out across in the capital city of Halskar in the absence of Prince Eddy. The people accused Prince Eddy I of cooperating with the 'imperialists' (The Irish Marchlands, Hayaba, Crux Prime, and others) by giving in to their demands. Riot police proved to be powerless as angry people broke into shops and offices, causing considerable damage and chaos.

Prince Eddy I, still undergoing treatment in Le Josef, was unavailable for comment, although his spokesperson made a statement saying that the Prince is fully informed of the riots.
