Sorry but I like men and women having equality (I fight for it), but when someone mentions feminism it makes me cringe. Feminism has changed over the past few years from equality to WOMEN RUN EVERYONE.

Then let me blow your mind.
I am a man and a radical feminist. Maybe you should spend less time judging feminism based on the people you know who claim to be feminists and actually read about it's philosophy.

Probably should. But I am for equal rights....everytime I hear the word feminist, its usually some radical who wants female domination.

it sometimes SEEMS as if men arent as stereotyped because they (traditionally) have gotten the lions share of society's goodies. i think that we are equally stereotyped.
Yes.
My wife is better educated than I am, and presently she is the full time worker while I raise the kids and scrounge for occasional side work(my field pays well when you can get it). When she was at home with the kids and people heard this the response was almost always "Good for you that you guys can afford to do that" --- When people hear I am at home with kids the overwhelming response is "Dont worry, you'll find something soon the economy sucks" --- this is even after we tell people she is a better earner. The reaction is the same for men or women.
It happens so much its become very very annoying, and dont get me started on telemarketers when I say "Sorry, wife is the bread winner not me, call back later."

Thanks for asking, I did not want to make the first post a huge, rambling novel that absolutely no one would read.
I want to be as physically removed from men and male influence as possible. However, I live in a large city and do not have the means to actually truly physically isolate myself, so I have to find other means.
There is a very large Orthodox Jewish community here and while they live among non-Jews, they manage to 'avoid' them very well. Orthodox Jewish men are not allowed, for example, to speak to or even look at non-Jewish women. So when you walk by them on the street, they merely ignore your presence. I have no doubt that after a lifetime of practice, they literally do not even take note of your presence anymore. This is one skill I wish to cultivate to help me when I am outside my home and unable to physically avoid men.
My job is fine, because I work only with women and female clients, so that is a good space for me.
To further avoid male influence, I have already given my television to a friend and I do not consume print media anyway so that should be easy.
I am looking now for more suggestions as to how I can accomplish this.
I could give you advice, but as a male, I guess that'd just taint the whole experiment.
As a radical feminist myself, I don't have a lot of sympathy for your Quixotic attempts at avoiding "male influence."

Have you ever taken a look at the socialist or Marxist schools of feminism? As I've read through this thread it seems you've had some trouble during your time in the movement. Personally, I think we should identify the class basis of patriarchy, and seek to combat them both simultaneously, because - to me - patriarchy cannot be truly overthrown while capitalism remains, and capitalism will never be properly dissolved until its ideological dregs (Wheather they be racism, sexism, heteronormativity etc. are obliterated.
I can understand you not wanting men joining yourself in activism, but should you deny them a role to play in emancipating both men and women from patriarchal oppression?
I may look a narrow-minded male foaming at the mouth, but I hope I'm not on your ignore list...
