Unlike most nations, you'd be hard pressed to find a tavan that gives a damn about being part of the Meritocratic Hegemony. However, the reverse is true when it comes to species, as we consider our race leagues above everyone else when it comes to culture, society, and the like.

Even the drellin will defend the system, as they believe themselves just as privileged to be alive as the allin.

Let's be honest: People here are somewhat of a mixed bag. There is a small minority that is a hugely patriotic and quite loud about it. A larger minority are fairly committed to the notion, but have better things to spend their time on than flag-waving. But most are just pretty indifferent about the matter: They live here, they don't have any major complaints, and the idea of simply buggering off hasn't really occurred to them because of the hassle.

Of course, there's always a few malcontents, but no one's stopping them from leaving.

Most people in Xanthal identify with their States rather than the Federation as a whole. I wouldn't go so far as to say the general feeling is that they hate the Federation, but there's a lot of apathy and mixed feelings about the Federation and even outright resentment toward central government meddling in their affairs. Xanthal has its fair share of hardcore patriots, of course, as well as those that would dance on its grave and everything in between. I would have to say that on average, though, there are more people with feelings that are on balance negative than the other way around.

Highly unpatriotic would be the closest way to describe it. Mainly because there's technically no state to be patriotic about.

It is considered healthy to be a good nationalist loyal to king and country and commoners and noblemen alike are taught to love their nation and king just as they are taught to respect and follow the old ways, this have resulted in nationalism and patriotism are rather well spread amongst the population even if there are separatists and other anti-federal organisations, especially in the non-scanderan realms with little influence in court.

On the whole people are moderately patriotic, proud of our generally free and individualistic society in which a man can be whatever he wants if he is prepared to work for it. As with any liberal democracy there are some who disagree with this view however.

We are more patriotic than the USA, but noone is forced to be
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.
