Patterson looks forward for game ahead with Camwood

Mapletish Verus Camwood Match Preview

For Camwood, having won their first match was a honour for them and they are looking strong out there, but for Mapletish,Patterson is making use of the bye-day to do up extra training session of the team and tatical lessons."Everybody knows Camwood is a strong opponent,so we must be careful.Although we won our first game,we musn't be complacent as this might throw away 3 points so,a straight and tight approach towards Camwood in the game would be good."said Patterson in the press conference after the training session.
Preview on Mapletish
Odds.
Mapletish Win,6.54
Camwood Win,5.32
Draw,3.52
Aleroh Junio #10
Having scored the winner for Mapletish in the first match day,he is expected to break the defences of Camwood to the best of his ability with his best mate Craig Thomas.A jack of all trades but master of none,he is a pure all-rounder as demostrated in the first match and he idols forner national team captain Francis Lee,known for his all-rounding performances.Luckily,Junio is not taking the pressure alone, with his best mate Thomas nothing is impossible to him.It is predicted that,he would be marked closely in the next game.
Odds
@1 goal in the game,14.55 @Hattrick in the game,40.56 @yellow card,31.20 @red card,176.32

Travis Hard #1
Having performed extremely well for his game in the Baptism of Fire, right after the URA Tiger Cup U23,his performance is at his best currently.Having kept an important cleansheet in the first game, leading Mapletish a full 3 points. He is expected to start in the match against Camwood.A Home United regular starter, taking over Mapletish's goalkeeping hero and captain Lev Yashin, many were surprised that he started in the team well.
He is expected to put in some fine saves in the match against Camwood.Considering his temper nowadays,he might get into the referee's book for scolding valgurities at the referee.
Odds
@ 1 goal in the game,50.15 @ Cleansheet,10.93 @Yellow Card,2.38 @Red Card,3.48

John Davis #2
John Davis, the speed counterattacker and strong defender for Mapletish might have put his strong counterattacking skills to use last match, only to see 1 goal for Mapletish, the match against Camwood would prove an important factor for him.Ready to pull in to tackles and speedy dribbling skills but pretty weak at ball tricks.
He is expected to drop opponent's jaws by rough tackling and maybe get himself sent off.It is likely for him to get at least 1 yellow card in the game against Camwood.
Odds
@ 1 goal,30.41 @ 1 Assist,0.41 @Yellow Card,1.45 @Red Card,2.38

Steven Johnson #8
The midfield mastro, which has seen his efforts of getting as many goals for Mapletish through the form of assist,go down the drain in the first match.Steven Johnson might not be the most senior player in the team, but his accurate passing has seen Mapletish lift the URA Tiger Cup this year.Mentioned as the mastro for Mapletish by Mapletish's midfield legend Derick Lippi,he did not see the praise go out of name as he tries to comply well with John Davis whenver the team is on defence.A soft tackling guy,it is unlikly for him to get the cards or fouls.
Odds
@ 1 Goal,20.31 @ 1 Assist,0.44 @ Yellow/Red Card , 7.80

From the Roddens Daily Echo, Page 1

WINTER GARDENS SAVED BY STATE GOVERNMENT
Funds pledged for T11m redevelopment, including amphitheatre

A major redevelopment plan that will save the popular Roddens Winter Gardens has finally been confirmed by the Norvaria state government, incorporating the creation of a new grass amphitheatre which could be used for artistic purposes or as a public square for viewing sporting events.

Just under T11m has been made available for the refurbishment, which will also include improved access for those with mobility impairments, a "sensory garden" designed for and with the help of local children with autistic spectrum conditions, and the creation of a new multi-purpose studio in the Taklik Building. The announcement comes after an extensive Daily Echo campaign to save the popular indoor-outdoor complex, the site of which had been earmarked for a major shopping centre.

"The Winter Gardens are a Roddens institution, and we have now ensured that it will not only remain so, but be noted throughout the country and beyond with this distinctive amphitheatre," claimed Norvaria State Secretary, Thomas Robinson.

Cut to page 4, after which there was only one interesting remark...

The exact cost of the project - T10,930,000 - drew a snicker from at least one State Representative during the discussions prior to the vote. This snicker has not been explained, although the numerical sequence 1093 has a long history of superstition in nations with extensive sporting involvement, tracable to the ex-nation of Snub Nose 38 and a character known only as "Margaret", who has been venerated as a "goddess of random numbers". The Kytlerian lacrosse team were famously reported to have prayed to her after their 0-2 start to the World Lacrosse Championships; they subsequently won eight consecutive games to reach the quarter-finals.

A banner at the bottom of the page read: "The Kytler Peninsulae 2-0 Côte de Platine: not such a fiery baptism after all. See Sport p1". Flicking over to that page...

Kytlerians cruise to perfect BoF start

The Kytler Peninsulae 2-0 Côte de Platine

In truth, it was the least that could have been expected. The anonymous francophone players arriving for Cote de Platine had no names on their shirts, nor had they even been announced to the world media - something apparently frequent even in WCC-sanctioned tournaments. It was a clear omen that the Kytlerians would be strong favourites, but in this competition there's hardly such a thing. The Kytlerians - not used to this position - thrived in it, and utterly dominated by more than the eventual scoreline of 2-0 suggested.

In part, that was down to a fine display from a goalkeeper who will not remain anonymous for long, making several fine saves to keep the score goalless for the first half-hour. In part, it was down to a relative lack of adventure from the Kytlerians - perhaps a certain rustiness after their earlier bye, more likely a simple preference for playing the percentages, a team moulded in the ruthlessly organised style of league champions FC Alaer rather than the entertainers of Bay City United. It was obvious from the defensive organisation - and the control of midfield - that one goal would all but settle it, and the players retained a sense of calm with every rebuff they faced from the goalkeeper, as if knowing they only needed one goal.

That goal came in horrible fashion, especially for the goalkeeper. A long pass from Daniel Ortega was controlled by Chezlot, who quickly switched the play to the left where Howard Crawley was waiting. He looked for the obvious aerial target of Cameron Upson, but he was not to be seen, down on the ground having slipped on an Estadia Pika surface cut up by two consecutive games earlier in the day. Instead, he played a low cross aimed at the shorter, faster Jan-Willem Snyder, but it was instead deflected by a sliding Platine defender, onto the post, off the back of the goalkeeper, and into the back of the net. Whose own goal it goes down as is unknown, especially as nobody knows the names of the two players involved.

There was no doubt who got the second, though, coming as it did from the penalty spot after Snyder jinked past one defender with a clever side-step and was tripped from the side by another. The penalty was instant; the yellow card, less so, the officials evidently unsure if Snyder had been denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity. As if it mattered; Snyder had the most obvious goalscoring opportunity one can get in football, a penalty kick, and he duly placed his shot in the bottom corner, the keeper guessing correctly but unable to reach it.

The second half was far from a spectacle, the Kytlerians content merely to absorb the occasional burst of pressure from the Platine side whilst conserving energy for tougher games ahead. Triimoria are next at the country's largest stadium, the Qazian Memorial Stadium in Qazox City. The stadium is notable for its enormous dot-matrix scoreboards, located either side of a video screen built into a glass pane behind one of the goals. "Triimoria are one of the toughest teams in this group, and we have to be ready for them," noted manager Thomas Morgan.

Mangolana City, Mangolana- I have the amazing opportunity to follow the Arcatean National team around during its first International competition, and let me tell you, it’s been a very interesting experience so far. I’ve watched a lot of things happen in the three short days since we’ve arrived in Mangolana. These athletes have come very far from where they were just weeks ago when the announcement of the ASC was made. Most of these guys left their college teams behind to focus on the National team. When we first made the trip to Mangolana, there wasn’t much talk on the team chartered plane, but after the first game the team really came together, and now consider themselves a botherhood. Deal, Wilson, Delphane and Valery all went out and got Phoenix tattoos after last night’s draw in an attempt to keep morale around the team up.

I got a chance to sit down with Mike Wilson last night in the hotel to talk about the experience of playing on Arcatea’s first International sports team.
-Thanks for sitting down with me. I have a few questions to ask you, some of them included questions submitted by fans back home in Arcatea.

Wilson- It’s not a problem, it’s just good to get a little break from the spotlight that is the BoF. And It’s always good to get questions from home, hopefully we aren’t disappointing too many people.

-What does it feel like to be playing against such high level of competition, I mean the ANCA isn’t necessarily a high level.

It’s been great to play against such great players, whose talent doesn’t even compare to what we have seen back home. A lot of guys who play in the ANCA aren’t playing to score goals or be in the spot light, they are playing for their team. Most of the guys who are on this team were the ones playing for the spotlight, and there is nothing wrong with that, but that just made it harder to become a team. I know most people back home were shocked to find out that goals can be scored against me, and at first I was shocked too. (Manager) Glove pulled me aside after the match and we just talked, it was good to hear that he supported me, and that helped me pull through.

-What are you guys focusing on for your game against Gyatso-kai?

We are just focused on playing as a team, something we didn’t have much time to do at home. (Craig) Deal is going to get a lot of attention after his rise into the line-up and the way he played tonight, but I think he will be able to deal with the spotlight…. Hahaha get it Deal. We need to spread the ball around more, and keep communicating with each other.

-What is with the New tattoo?

Some of the guys made a deal with the team, Win, Lose, or Draw each had a group and whatever the outcome of the game, those guys would be getting tattoos. So it was just luck, but I was going to get one anyway. It was all (Assistant Coach) Rush’s idea, he was even the one who designed it. If we place as a team, we are all going to get the BoF 44 logo tattooed on our arms.

A good catch of Goals
Rouge Pioneers second game was against the small nation of Cygning, whose entire football team are fisherman by day. The game was very lively, and John Ryans scored after just 3 minutes. However, it started to do downhill quickly. Andy Lysanderson, who missed a penalty in the last game was sent off a minute later, for a dangerous tackle on Gennaro Bianchiaparello, with the Cygning player lucky to not be injured. By half time, 2 goals from Salvatore Robbiani and 1 from Giuliano Codazzatti left Rouge Pioneers 3-1 down. Cygning attacked the goal on countless occasions, with Derry making some superb saves to keep the deficit at 2 goals. Then at 89 minutes, Ben Blue raced through the defence to score his first international goal. In the dying seconds of injury time, every Rouge Pionner player went up for a corner. Although Amico Coppilini cleared the ball, it fell to goalkeeper Max Derry, who shot from 25 yards into the top-right, giving us a point. Now it's time for a win.

Goals:
3' John Ryans
21' Salvatore Robbiani
32' Giuliano Codazzatti
40' Salvatore Robbiani
89' Ben Blue
90'+4 Max Derry

Approximately three hours after the match against The Vuhifellian States

Gabriela Sanchez, Estelle Fornier, and Amy Montediego sat on the couch of the posh hotel, all sipping their drinks quietly. The TV in front of them was on mute, the lobby was basically devoid of all life, and the staff were typing away on their computers.

"So..." started Amy. "What did y'all think of today's game agains The Vuhifellian States?"

"Not bad," said Gabriela. "A 3-0 win against them is something to be proud of. I think tomorrow that the Queen is coming to visit us. After two wins, she's coming to congratulate us and support us during our next matches. Can you believe this?"

"No way! The Queen!? " exclaimed Estelle. "She never leaves Nicole Scherzinger! Every year for those international dinners, meetings, and gatherings, she sends the diplomats to be her representative. But coming in person, that's like un-heard of."

Both Amy and Gabriela nodded their heads in agreement.

"Yeah, I can't wait to meet her. Ugh, now I'm hungry." said Gabriela.

"Wow, really?" asked Amy. "You just ate right after the game."

"Yes, I know." replied Gabriela. "But after playing for that long today, and only have a salad afterwards, I'm in the mood for something else. Like a chicken sandwich and french fries."

"I agree," said Estelle. "They need a Chicken-a-Deli here. Maybe we should convince the corporate headquarters back home to come with some food and cater."

"Now that is something that the queen would ask for, not a regular football player like yourself. Do you really expect the royal treatment?" asked Amy. She has a problem with people over-dramatizing the situation, and thinking that they are god's gift to womankind. "I think that you should just eat what's given to you. After all, think about all the poor kids in other countries. We are so lucky to live in Nicole Scherzinger, where everyone is given a fair share, except for men."

"So how about some sandwiches?I was thinking that we could go to the grocery store, pick up some turkey, cheese, lettuce, and other things. Maybe some ham if you want."

"Sorry, I'm vegetarian," said Amy.

"You're kidding, right?" asked Estelle and Gabriela at the same time. They eyed Amy suspiciously.

"No, I'm not. Meat is terrible. I am a support of People for the Ethical Tenderness of Animalkind."

"Wow...just wow. I'm a member of People for the Euthanization Trashy Animals. So I don't know why we're friends." replied Gabriela. "Meat is the best thing in the world, and I can't live without a hamburger."

"Poor cows. I hope they have some more vegetarian offers here in Mangolana. Maybe let's go get some cheese tacos or something?"

"Yeah, and while we're at it, let's save the environment too. Drink only water in re-usable cups, recycle the food that hasn't been used, and whatever else."

"Hey!" exlcaimed Amy as she was recycling one of her cans. "The environment deserves a chance too you know!"

"Yeah, yeah." replied Estelle. She then muttered to herself: "Tree hugger."
If you think I'm coming back, don't hold your breath.

Miley World beats the Buckeyes!

In their 2nd game of the Baptism of Fire, the Untamed Robots beat Ohio Island, which I think are nicknamed the Buckeyes. At the 14th minute Miley World attacked. Ross Wallace passed the ball to Ashley Johnstone who then passed to Grégory Dedieu. Dedieu kicks the ball but his shot was too far left. Goal kick for Ohio Island. At the 29th minute Ross Wallace tripped Justin Peate. Wallace got a yellow card. Peate looked injured so the doctors come on the field to check him out and the referree tells him he have to leave the field. After a few minutes of play Peate comes back on the field, he looks ok finally. At the 48th minute the Buckeyes are attacking. Mark Robinson pass the ball to Mohammed Musa who then pass to Kevin Tate, he shoots and Bradley Jones makes a beautifull save! Miley World are attacking at the 65th minute. Fabrice Durand pass the ball to Conor Downing who passes to Ashley Johnstone who passed again to Conor Downing. Downing then shoots. Tim Dillard makes a beautifull save but he can't keep the ball so the ball is loose. Grégory Dedieu kicks the ball in an almost empty net and he scores! 1-0 for Miley World. At the 71th minute Miley World attacked again. Alexandre Viard pass to Grégory Dedieu who then passes to Ashley Johnstone, he kicks the ball but Tim Dillard makes a beautifull save and he keeps control of the ball this time. At the 88th minute Alex got a yellow card and Ohio Island gets a free kick. Jason mason kicks, but his shot is too far right. Miley World wins the game 1-0.

Boxscore:

65' Grégory Dedieu (Miley World) assisted by Conor Downing.

Yellow cards:

29' Ross Wallace (Miley World)
88' Alex (Miley World)

Kihxaw Jahp sat there. Everything in him was screaming "stop it! Stop it! Make it end!" but still it kept on. Bam! Bam! He was slammed against something hard and metal. He screamed, but no sound came out. Bam! Bam! "oof!" "what the h--?" he heard someone get cut off, and then another yellow bang. He couldnt see anything. He was too miserable. Bam! Bam! He gave up. He opened his mouth, and puked all over the back of the bus. Kihxaw Jahp, star goaltender and famous the world over, was hopelessly carsick.

Half an hour later, the team piled out, snapping photos of the picturesque Qazox countryside and chatting to each other. "why couldnt we have been drawn in Mangolana??? There in Rushmore, we could have gone home on our day off, instead of bouncing six feet in that bus and watching Kihxaw spit rainbows everywhere" "well, at least were here now. Relax. Unwind. Take some-- what the hell????!!!??" Kihxaw puked again. Their tour guide, a plump old lady, yelled "c'mon laddies, so much to see and so little time" turning to Kihxaw, she said "oh, DEAR. When will you stop this? It's quite impoliite, you know. I'm ashamed, a big boy like you ought to know better." Kihxaw muttered to Dowv Daz "I thought my grandmother dies a few years back" Down couldnt help from snorting, and the guide, exasperated, said "and there goes another one. You people need to learn to eat, and keep it down!" Kihxaw rolled his eyes and got back on the bus, relieved that the next stop had paved roads.

Iphmopf 3-2 Freezingland

Iphmopf got off to the perfect start in international football with a superb win against Freezingland.

Iphmopf took the lead 12 minutes into their footballing debut, after Tom Simms took on two Freezingland defenders before cooly squaring the ball to experienced forward Tom Jalew, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner past a helpless goalkeeper.

But Freezingland woke up after that, and forced Tom Overton to make two quick reaction saves. However the Freezingland momentum was quickly subdues, and a quick break from Ashley Trent meant that Iphmopf were gifted a promising one on one between Will Kingston and the opposition goalkeeper, unfortunately, Kingston could not take the chance, and it was brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper. The resulting corner proved too much for Freezingland, though, as a beautiful Adam Severs delivery gifted Steven Sanders a free header, which he gratefully converted to increased Iphmopfs lead to 2-0.

After the break, Tom Jalew wasted a good chance from substitute Roger Sendon's cross, and Iphmopf grew to kick themselves for the miss, as Freezingland scored a brilliant whipped freekick just minutes after.

And Freezingland almost drew level from the penalty spot with just 12 minutes to go, but for an incredible stop from goalkeeper Overton. And with 7 minutes left, Will Kingston converted a Dvid Johnston through ball to put Iphmopf 3-1 up.

A little more than a consolation goal came for Freezingland with the last kick of the game, as they scrambled home a last ditch corner from their captain.

Triimoria Informer

Slightly Less Impressive...

BoF 44: Triimoria 1-1 Dixie Provinces

That is how Triimoria roll! One minute unbelievable highs, the next underwhelming lows. Actually, very like bi-polar. Right I'd better get this over with and tell ye the tale. I can hear skeptics muttering, "I told you so!"...
Triimoria had a good start to the game. Right off the bat they had a chance. Atov moved into the centre of the opposition half. He passed to Lightning. Atov ran past Dixie Provinces defensive line. Lightning passes back. Atov shoots! He scores!!! Oh, but the assistant referee is flagging! It's off-side. Looks dubious and the Triimoria fans know it! Replays show that Atov was behind the defenders when Lightning passed. Definitely on-side. At least with this start Triimoria looked as if they promised another victory. It was not long until Triimoria scored their first COUNTED goal on the twentieth minute. Quitazotl crossed the ball in when Triimoria received a free kick on the left. Hyooj leaped up. He heads the ball goalwards. And in it goes!!! 1-0!! Hyooj's first international one! The Dixie Provinces recovered well. On the thirty-sixth minute they came close to scoring. One of their midfielders spotted the Triimoria defenders napping. He tried a run along the goal line. He tapped it in to a striker! He balloons the ball over when he should have scored. The Dixie Provinces manager will be furious with his team for letting that one go! This action-packed first half drew to a close in the first quiet period of the match.
The Dixie Provinces returned to the pitch like a whole new team. What the manager said at half-time we don't know but it certainly worked! Early on in the half they again had another excellent chance. One of their midfielders jinked between the Triimorian defence. We then let out a screecher of a shot which Farmer saved with some difficulty. Now Triimoria really were on the back foot! The Dixie Provinces were really unleashing the full power of their squad! The Dixie Provinces got their well deserved equaliser on seventy-five minutes. That same midfielder from early came down the wing. He came close to the goal-line. He slipped in a cross which went over Farmer's head. A striker at the far post nodded it in! Goal!!! 1-1! As I said thoroughly deserved and I don't think Triimoria can deny that. Triimoria only really got their first peek in in the second half on the eighty-fifth minute. Farmer hit a long kick up. Ozzaguira latches on. He goes round one defender! He goes round two!! Let's out a shot!!! Over the bar. Poor effort. This game ended without further event.
Despite this draw Triimoria hold first in the group having played two games and took four points from them. Their nearest rivals are The Kytler Peninsulae who have played one and won one.

Mangolana City, Mangolana- Arcatea’s press conference was very short this afternoon, but it didn’t need to be long. Marvin Glove stated that he will not be making any changes to the lineup for tonight’s game against Gyatso-kai. “I won’t be making any changes against Gyatso-kai, and we shouldn’t need it. We are playing our best ball right now, and I know if we play to our game plan that we will end with a win tonight,” Glove said.

From the respected Kytlerian sport blog "What A Load Of Balls".

        KYTLERIAN TEAM VS TRIIMORIA

Ortega     Kennard     Duggan      Chappell

                  Hassani

    Cliriputed                  Crawley

         Abramovicz       Snyder

                   Upson

An unexpected late change to the formation is the response from Thomas Morgan after Sven Vandenburgh sustained an ankle injury in training, although he is expected to be back later in the group stages. The team have opted for a variant on the theme of "one up front, a flat back four, and five anywhere else" that has become so popular in the "RL world"; Hassani will act as a defensive midfielder, allowing Shuke Cliriputed and Howard Crawley freedom to move forward on the flanks. However, in practice it is likely that Cliriputed will stay further back, with Arkadiusz Abramovicz playing as an orthodox right-winger (even though he is understood to be politically liberal - sport and politics don't mix, except when we produce clumsy mixed metaphors like that). That would mean the team would effectively be lining up 4-2-3-1, with Hassani and Cliriputed as holding midfielders, and Crawley playing alongside Abramovicz and Snyder behind lone striker Cameron Upson. The formation may even morph into a diamond 4-4-2 if Snyder moves closer to Upson and Abramovicz drifts inside, or (less likely) vice versa.

It's definitely an exciting approach from Morgan. I'd personally like to see the team line up 4-2-3-1, but Morgan has hinted that Hassani is going to play as the lone holding midfielder, at least for now. He may well be saying that just to infer that he's not gone to two holding midfielders just to deal with a vaguely threatening team who have four points from two games, as that would look negative. I don't think it actually would be negative - because you can use all three advanced midfielders creatively with the double-team in front of the defense.

University of Zube make plans for unexpected T29m windfall
Cash invested in "no-lose" bet with foreign bookmaker on BoF match

The University of Zube is set for a major windfall after exploiting an extraordinary error from a bookmaker in Mapletish on the Baptism of Fire.

The unnamed firm quoted Mapletish at odds of 6.54 to defeat Camwood, who were quoted at 5.32, with the draw at 3.52 - wildly miscalculated odds that allowed the university to invest their entire T48m central reserves on bets on all three possible outcomes in the group-phase match in proportions that guarantee a return of T28.8m.

The error was identified in analysis of international press coverage of the competition from the university's Margaret Institute, which is dedicated to the study of sport from a multidisciplinary perspective. The university immediately accepted the institute's proposal of placing multi-million-toak bets in inverse proportion to the odds, ensuring a guaranteed fixed return.
Have your say on how you think the
University of Zube should invest its windfall
http://zube.edu.kpl/investment

No plans have yet been confirmed for how the money will be spent, but a page on the university website has been set up to invite public suggestions. Although students have inevitably requested improved financial aid, at present the most popular request is for the university to fund an investigation into the trade in RP-inin. The drug is known to enhance sporting performance, particularly at the elite level, and the Margaret Institute stunned and alarmed many Kytlerians when its prior research found that the drug was not only legal at international sporting events, but "positively encouraged". Concern over the effects of the drugs if taken in an uncontrolled manner grew further with the discovery of a super-strength variant of RP-inin, called Verbosita, which is understood to have been heavily used in Candelaria And Marquez during their period of major success for both club and country; some have postulated that the Candelariasian government withdrew from international sport due to the effects of Verbosita on the general population. The Seunem team at the Baptism of Fire are also rumoured to be using Verbosita, and Robert Felton expressed concern over this on his SportShout show on RTX Radio earlier this week.

Tamarindia 2-0 Hladio Huggers

And so finally we come to it, the first game of our first World Cup campaign, in the familiar surroundings of Mangolana where the young Tamarins won the World Indoor Championship and came third in the Beach Cup at the same time. Where Masvidal burst on to the international scene, and Chu Mango the veteran of the Grenade War who imagined he had no legs became an honorary Tamarindo. Juggling fluid time to compete against the mighty Starblaydia in the semi-final of the Draggonnii Inviyatti in Andossa Se Mitrin Vega and win through to a final against mighty Sarzonia, the Tamarins time-tripped the light fantastic for a late appointment with Hladio Huggers, an unknown quantity determined to keep themselves to themselves. Very shy people, those Huggers. Very private. Very... non-posted. Fortunately they did not score, or we would have to make excuses for not knowing their names. But as it was, goals in either half from Masvidal and Sergio Basta, in a commanding performance that in no way suggested fatigue from playing two games simultaneously in two competitions in two regions, settled matters in favour of the far-from-shy Tamarins. The Great Yellow Curtain of Tamarindian defence held the introverted Huggers at bay with aplomb, and they seemed ill-equipped to break down our practiced defensive strategy that has been so successful in our first seasons at the world plate of multiversal football. Salinas and Moscoso, the Los Mineros central defensive partnership, was unbreachable. Such mountainous defensive fortification puts me in mind of that legendary centre-half of 1970s Tamarindian football, The Snapper, that man with the hair, Isaias Feliciano.

In this sticker we note a spelling mistake, which makes this a highly collectible sticker.

#22. Isaias Feliciano
Jaguars, 1970 – 1983

Like most players in Tamarindia, Feliciano only turned out for one club in his career, the Boys in Blue of Jaguars in Misión, although he came through the ranks at Cubana in his hometown of Castro. He never made an appearance for them however, signing for Jaguars at the age of 19 and remaining at the club until his retirement with two good-for-nothing knees and brain damage fourteen years later.

The Doctor's Son

Juxtaposed to the early life of poor Quintillo Zamora, Isaias Feliciano had a comfortable and loving upbringing in the fair coastal town of Castro, the son of a doctor and an immigrant mother, a refugee from the giant industrial complex of Chimor. The young Isaias was encouraged by his father to enjoy the arts, and to develop an erudite understanding of the world, and to become a man of letters. Isaias, on the other hand, was far more interested in motorcyles, and gambling, and football. To the disappointment of his father, and after much pleading from his mother to pick the safest of the three, young Isaias also picked his least preferred of the three options and became a professional footballer after impressing in trials at Cubana. As a boy Isaias was a rather spoiled and used to getting his own way, so that he grew up a temperamental child. Maturing into adulthood this transferred to testy and confrontational, ideal qualities for a centre-half, but ones which earned him the door at Cubana whilst still a trainee for fighting with a coach, leaving him free to head of to the bright lights of the big city and a contract with Jaguars, famous for their dogged, rough and ready, one might say temperamental style of play.

The Snapper

Nobody embraced and came to embody the spirit of Jaguars more than Isaias Feliciano, which has rightly earned him the place of legend in the hearts of Los Chicos fans. He was a tough defender: the toughest. Most famously, he once dislocated his jaw by shouting at a team-mate whom, he felt, had let the team down by passing up the opportunity to commit a professional foul on an opposition striker. Feliciano himself never passed up that kind of opportunity, and his reputation among opposition strikers was a fearsome one. Nobody wanted to play against him, and several players were reported at one time or another to have feigned injury in a training session to avoid turning out against the one they called The Snapper on the weekend. No-one knows for sure if his nickname referred to the snap of his temper, the snap of his jaw, or the snap of opponents bones, but each seemed a perfectly viable and likely explanation. He allegedly cut notches on a stick he carried with him for every time he broke a bone – someone else's bone. The notches allegedly tallied in the dozens.

The Hair

You can see from the picture that Feliciano was an hirsute fellow, and he believed that his power was invested in his hair, a not uncommon delusion. He did not like to have it cut and when he did, he usually missed training the next day in the belief that he was vulnerable to injury so soon after having his hair cut. When the barnet was in full growth, he considered himself invincible, and despite notching up several of his own broken bones from deliberately mistimed fifty-fifty tackles, he was sure the hair made him unbreakable. Of this he was quite convinced, and would not be persuaded otherwise. Such was the faith in his own hair that when he indulged one of his other passions, that of motorcycling, he never wore a helmet, claiming that his hair was the only helmet he needed. This was to prove a false prophesy.

The Brain

Feliciano's favourite machine was his Chimor-built Viscaíno 950 manxR, legendary for being impossibly fast and impossible to control. Isaias loved to run his machine up into the mountains north of Tesoro, and rip along the high roads with the wind in his hair-helmet. One day he misjudged a turn, and hit a steel barrier on a tight bend overlooking a great valley. A dent the shape of his head was forever set into the barrier and today there is a small sign next to it which says: The Unhelmetted Print of Isaias Feliciano's Head, fractured on this ridge in 1981. It is a miracle that he survived, although with a helmet on the damage would've been far less. Did his hair save him from certain death? The doctors did not think so, and although the old Isaias may have proclaimed that his hair was his helmet and the job was done, the new, brain-damaged one wasn't interested. In a coma for seventeen days, the prognosis was grim. When suddenly he woke up, a new man, with very little memory and an altered personality, he asked for a mirror to check on his hair, and when he saw that it was mostly gone, after the emergency operations – three of them – on his brain cavity, he nodded with quiet acceptance, and never again troubled his mates with tales of Samson. Nor did take up motorcycling again, and he lost interest in gambling, and became a placid and contented fellow. He did return to football, within a couple of months of the horror-crash, but played the game as a gentleman, and a sportsman; and all felt he was a little less of a footballer for all that.

Mangolana City, Mangolana- The moment the whole country has been waiting for is here, Arcatea’s First International sports competition win! This match against Gyatso-kai was a very hard fought game, with Arcatea coming out on top 3-2. Craig Deal scored his third BoF goal, while both Valrey and Glove earned their first. For Gyatso-kai it was Tay’haai and Wakahisa each with a goal. Arcatean Manager Marvin Glove was the first to fun onto the field and jump into the pile of Arcatean players to celebrate the victory. President Jimmy Glenn claimed that tomorrow there will be a celebration throughout the country, and claimed that he would be making a trip to Mangolana to watch the rest of Arcatea’s games.

Deal scored the game winning goal, and had this to say about the match, “We played great, we kept the ball spread around, we held the tempo to where we were comfortable and that’s what we did. It is great to score the game winning goal, and I feel so proud to wear the Red and Black. I’m glad I got that tattoo last night, that helped bring us together even more.” (Manager) Glove said “I proud of these guys, and this night will go down in the history of Arcatea. These kids have come so far from just two days ago, with our loss to Mapletish. Having the next two days off is going to be great for us, we are going to be working on some small things that we need to work on. Right now we are in second place in the Ordonez group, which feels great. I just hope that we can keep it up and move onto the next round.”

Arcatea will have the next two days off, then will face Camwood on the 8th, and Trimasia on the 9th. Camwood is 1-0-1, and Timasia has only played one game so far, which it lost.

Brian Cortier sought refuge underneath one of the tables in the hotel restaurant. Several players and a Stachlandic peacekeeper sat beside him. Nearly eighty Zhevalssoi fans, who had been expecting a victory against Zoobians following their team's opening triumph over Brendino the 3rd, had been sorely disappointed by the squad's performance earlier that evening.

Zhevalsso-zhevalsso 1-3 Zoobians

Still, Cortier was surprisingly satisfied. Sure, the anger that seemed to come so naturally to these Zhevalssoi had manifested itself, following his first few weeks of good fortune, but—he lost his train of thought as he scrambled to avoid a steak knife sliding across the floor—there had still been no inter-ethnic incidents. The victory had put them all at peace, and while this loss had stirred them to violence, it was Nekolussoi and Lemalssoi working together to inflict injury upon the team.

Mahner Norser, the Lemalssoi reserve goalkeeper, cursed as a flying fork managed to gouge a small hole in his palm. A stream of blood trickled from the wound. Swermadar Notschingo, a Nekolussoi defender, grabbed a nearby napkin and helped Norser to stop the bleeding.

It was progress. The Zhevalssoi had known violence for so long that they could react to unusual events with little else. Cortier would try to change that—he realized that it was possible, even as simply the coach of the national football squad, to agitate for change. Zhevalsso-zhevalsso as a nation did not deserve this sort of discord. Soon, Cortier hoped, they would find peace, with each other and themselves.

Second match by Euskirribakondara.... again a win!

Manolo Autxerkarrea was happier than yesterday. Out of the 90000 attendants at the Rockport Stadium, about the half was Euskal. The match didn't have as much goals as the first match, but with just one goal we acheived three more points. The ENFT leads the Spade Group with 6 points!

11' Mark Anthony Caruso makes the first Beldonian attempt to make a goal. Auro SETSEBALDEA didn't let him.
27' Michael Pansage hitted Ara Mkrtchyan in the knee, in a very unexpected way.
40' Barde Erentxe is the first "attempter" of Euskirribakondara.
48' The second half has just started and Phil Garrity makes another Beldonian attempt.
50' In a counter-attack movement, Mikel Txabes makes another attempt, which is converted into a goal.
62' The tension is terrible in the stadium, the Beldonians are hoping that there's a goal to tie the match.
65' Phil Garrity makes another attempt, and he fails.
72' Phil Garrity makes another attempt, and he fails again.
80' Ara Mkrtchyan leaves the match, after getting a yellow card for a bad move with Michael Pansage.
85' The Euskals start to celebrate.
93' The match finally ends, with a score 1-0.

FINAL SCORE:
Euskirribakondara vs. Beldonia
01 00
50' Txabes

After a long press confference, Manolo told the plans for October the 5th.
Well, as we promised; we saw a GREAT show. Beldonia was a very good adversary, and the strength shown by them is remarkable. The team has already traveled to New Bruxen, and is preparing itself to play against Megadia. Good luck GUREN TALDEA! HALA EUSKIRRIBAKONDARA!

Camwood took the lead in the 15th minute with a professional strike.Mapletish didn't do much to fight for a comeback which means that the score goes 1-0 to Camwood
Half-Time

In the second half-time,Mapletish seems to have got the right tempo going, with Alero Junio brought in to boster the attack,Mapletish took the lead soon after in the 50th minute with passing moves from the team.Craig Thomas ran down the flank and cross the ball to the foot of Junio who just have to tap the ball in to the net.Mapletish was given another chance in the 52nd minute when John Davis ran in with the ball with his ususal counterattacking stance and he found Steven Johnson who ran down straight to the penalty box where he nutmegged the keeper and he faces an empty net and he scored from there but it was an offside.Another chance came by at the 60th minute when Andre Rondo get his chest on the ball after a long goalkick from Travis Hard and he pass it down to Henry who passes it to Alex and he found the keeper off-position and he shoots...But it hit the bar and went out of play.As usual, there was no sign of anger by Patterson as he stand at the sideline with a calm look on his face.At the 72nd minute,Mapletish got a crucial chance that determined the victor of the game,Glena Jonhson rushed to the half-way line where Travis Hard aimed his goalkick at and he did a long cross to Junio who appears to be outside of the box and Junio shoot from there which result in a goal that close the match.

The Press Conference
Mapletish did well today, espically Travis Hard who provide the attacking movement for the two goals, but I still see a need to improve from this performance as there is an aviodable defence error everytime,I am glad that Mapletish brings home all 6 points from the games while I am quite pleased to have the best defence in the Group itself with 1 goal conceded in 2 games.Arcatea is a dangerous team as everyone know and having played three games and one win,one draw, and one loss shows their improvment match to match.I pity Gyatso-kai as they are quite a good team so this loss might prompt them to be more dangerous in the future.

Preview : Trimasia Vs Mapletish

After winning two matches in the BoF44,Mapletish is filled with the tempo and the will to fight on to finish off with the group-stage and advance on.When faced with Trimasia,Patterson expects his team to play their usual game, not to be too proud of themselves.Patterson said that he will not change the attacking front-line as he is confident of his players.Junio is expected to score again in this match and he was taunted by Mapletish's legend Francis Lee that if he is able to score a hattrick,Lee would give him the Golden Armband that he wore in the URA Cup Of Nations in 1986.Patterson has warned that Trimasia would be preparing themselves with the bye-days that they have and they would be different when Mapletish meets them.

I can see that Mapletish is improving match by match with 1 goal in the first game and 2 goals in the second,I have bet with my friends that if we score 3 goals in the third to make it a 1,2,3 record,I would go straight to the Mapletish Football Assocation and Home United Sports Club for football trails barefooted.Ah well, what a silly bet but well anyway lets get back on to the point, according to My Unoffical Football Awesome Records,Mapletish would be trying to court death if they lose to Trimasia in the next BoF44 match.
My Guide To Mapletish Vs Termasia
1. Look out for Alero Junio who might break the goalpost or goal nets anytime if he continues his scoring streak. He have the ability you see and I will make an appeal to the Mapletish FA if he is not in the URA Olympics in the next year's roster.
2. Bring soda and some hotdogs for the match. Here's how : 1.When Mapletish scores a goal, you eat the hotdogs and make sure it is erm.. HOT!!,nah just put some chilli sauce to make it taste even BETTER!!
As for the soda, when the final whistle goes, put mentos into it and have a magnificent volcano celebration.. Erm Ps.This is not a mad football fan blog :p
3. Nonetheless Cheer when nessecary,as you go with the crowd or the stadium would be too hot as there are not enough fans..!
4. Travis Hard will score a goal against Trimasia,as his goalkicks can travel that hard and that far...
5. Glue yourself to the Home United TV a day before the match just to hear what Sir Billy has to say before the match.
6. An U Wont go wrong with this one PRAY!!
7. down WITH Trimasia !! :lol2:

Nights Everybody...!!

Thrilling WIn Puts Brendino the 3rd Back in Contention
After losing the first match in the Baptism of Fire, Brendino the 3rd came onto the pitch a changed team. Forward Joseph Pratt was the first to light up the scoreboard after a perfect through ball from fellow striker Bouwmans. After taking a one goal lead, the Ferrets didn't look back and took a 2-0 lead into halftime. A change in goalkeeper after Jayden McKenzie injured his shoulder in Market Cup 4 was some cause for concern, but backup Toby Crawford performed admirably, saving two excellent shots to preserve the shutout and adding on 8 more saves throughout the game. In the post game interview, coach Corrin Keiger said, "I'm extremely proud of Toby and the whole defense for keeping the shutout, as well as our offense for really taking it to them. Next thing we need to do is cut done the shots on goal were letting up."
