Iv been drinking coffee since I was 12, (9 years) and I drink a cup or 2 every morning, some evenings.. and not some instant stuff. noo not for me, Gotta have the real stuff, dark roast preferably (Sumatra!!) but when I don't have my coffee, I never seem to get withdrawal symptoms.. lucky for me I guess, but I digress, coffee is great and the only bad thing about it is it stains your teeth... but that's what toothpaste is for.

I do think I have this. Six to seven cups of coffee is me, on average, before noon.

But I can't do it any more. Even the smell of coffee and my stomach gives me hell. Plus the acid reflux is killing me. Looks like I'm cutting back. Grrrrrrrr

I am not sure why one would wish to give up caffeine addiction, given that the alternative is sleep addiction. It seems clear that people are bound to be addicted to a minimum number of things and that breaking an addiction necessarily thus involves substituting another addiction. As far as addictions go, addiction to caffeine is certainly more productive than addiction to sleep.

Coffee is terrible, terrible stuff. One should switch to pure caffeine. There's barely even any caffeine in coffee, anyway.

I'm always a bit confused by the cups measure. I generally have a thermos-mug full of coffee in the morning, which is a bit under 3 measured cups, and if someone had two of those a day, I wouldn't be extremely horrifed by it (Although maybe I should). However, when someone says, "I drink 7 cups a day" I always imagine 7 large mugs full of coffee, which seems too much.

Anyway, for me, caffeine consumption has gotten to the point where I don't really notice the buzz, but I feel tired and get a headache when I don't have it in the morning. It sucks.

Per kilogram, so for a 50kg adult that means consuming 10 grams of caffeine. That isn't not a relatively small quantity, that's several tablespoons of pure caffeine.

Sorry, I was visuallizing it as broken up pills and not taking into account the amount of filler. It's still not a relatively small quantity though, as far as drug dosages go it's a huge amount.

drug dose, sure. Someone here was recommending switching to pure caffeine from coffee, however, and I was stating that that would be dangerous (if you could get your hands on any) as a tablespoon of it would kill you but wouldn't seem like that much to someone used to coffee grounds or beans.

I would expect they're referring to caffeine pills as 'pure caffeine', unless they've got a chemical supply shop mail order form.
