2 Bridgeport Seagulls 22 13 0 9 39
3 Halifax Titans 22 13 0 9 39
4 Albionpool Ravens 22 13 0 9 39

10 Sunderland Dragons 22 9 0 13 27
11 Mills Chanticleers 22 8 0 14 24
12 Ryder Harbour Waves 22 8 0 14 24

The Albionpool Ravens found themselves in a playoff spot once again, once again earning a round one rematch with their former Grand Final opponent the Cambridge BayBirds.

Albionpool Ravens 24.10.154 def. Cambridge BayBirds 8.9.57

The Ravens went on a goal scoring tear and decimated the BayBirds, fixing them up to face Halifax.

Halifax Titans 11.18.84 def. by Albionpool Ravens 15.11.101

The Ravens' goal explosion cooled off a little, but the Cotdelapomais' reps in the NCFL moved into the semi-final to take on Bridgeport.

Bridgeport Seagulls 17.8.110 def. by Albionpool Ravens 24.2.146

And so the Ravens score 24 goals and are through to the 34th NCFL Grand Final! They will take on a previous foe, the Victoria Sharks...

Victoria Sharks 17.15.117 def. Albionpool Ravens 9.14.68

And so once again, the Ravens fall juuuuust short of the NCFL Premiership...

Léopard Noir Ligue Futsal

7 Metis Montréal 14 5 1 8 41 55 −14 16
8 Cormier Windsor 14 4 3 7 38 41 −3 15

Another shock result in the Ligue Futsal, Beauharnois won the league title and was able to shock Shingo Morimoto and Albionpool Alex Rideau, who failed to win the title for the second straight year.

Cotdelapomais teams occupied spots 2-4 in this year's Croix Bleue Premiership, but once again they failed to win the title as little PBI Pirates won their first ever rugby union championship, despite having a heavily Mytanar squad.

Season Preview

THE TITLE CONTENDERS

Montréal are defending champions, and they've brought in reinforcements by adding in Cafundelense duo Danilinho and Róbson, along with national team full-back Alexandre Grainger. They have lost retired forward Miguel Silva and some depth players, but they are counting on replacing them with academy products Jean Bédard and Laurent Parizeau.

Worcester Hearts are a popular championship choice as well, generally getting stronger and continuing to possess tremendous depth in midfield and defence. Signing Cafundelense defender Creysson gives the club another versatile force at the back, and whilst they still don't have a premier striking option, 20 year old midfielder Pierre-Alexandre Séguin is a potential future star. The team can still defend like no one else, and Rodrigue M'Benga is still one of Série A's best players.

Tout-Puissant Outremont are still a strong club, but they didn't add much in the offseason- just Mytanar defender Antoine Cama. They've promoted a handful of academy players, and this will be the first wave of them since their wealthy owners showed up. A lot is expected of striker Erubiel Navarro, who some think is the direct heir to Rodrigo Lopez- although that may have more to do with his race than anything else, even if they have similar skills.

THE INTERNATIONAL CONTENDERS

Cosmopolitan have made some puzzling purchases, having brought in players like Reuben Forrester and Emile Karembeu in the past rather than bringing in younger talent. They've tried to remedy this by acquiring a group of foreign players- Pol de Huyer, Rikpa, Paulo Fabbri and Hossein Rahman, although they also fell victim to their old ways by returning François Michalak. They also have a tendency to just snap up the best players from smaller clubs and perching them on the bench until they get disgruntled and leave for less money, as happened this offseason when Patrice Proulx and Joë Parenteau left.

Étoile Rouge have decided to play a completely different style of football than usual, playing a more defensive style than their fans want. This is also the deepest Étoile Rouge club in ages, with a handful of players with World Cup experience, including winner Saif Al-Mukbari. There's also a pair of Mytanar defenders added in Christian Parmova and Velidimir Etepov, along with Pocoan midfielder Ezekiel Eden. Alexandre Cormier, Jean-François Lapierre and Ruud Endemann is still a strong midfield core as well, and Helio Teixeira, if motivated, should retain his strong form of last season.

Sparta have been one year away forever it seems, and so if this is not the year it's hard to imagine hell not being raised, but Sparta now have their strongest club in a long time as well. They have an excellent starting XI, and with some savvy offseason signings in midfield, now have some strong depth. It is hard to see if there will be enough playing time for everyone.

Saint-Urbain's wealthy Pocoan owners went out and bought a million and a half players this offseason. Get ready- Uzuri Eleche, Gildas Mancion, Mariano Wilson, Jang Hwong, Hakan Mendez, Berasko Arechaga, Ezekiel Catamount and Rocco Pierdomenico were all brought in this offseason. Can they all mesh? Is there time for all of them? Will Lars Hegg Gammel be exhausted from playing the maximum possible number of matches in the World Cup?

Baltimore was a surprise of the season last season, and whilst they sent Felicio Proença to Sparta, they did keep Christophe Charlebois and have some of the best young players in the league.

Cap Nordique have Yannick Latendresse, Swartazian national teamers Fredrik Gaisban and Alex Frej, national teamer Jonathan Watson, and a talented pair of one-named strikers in Paulistinha and Leandro. Sometimes it seems like they have little else- although they were subtle offseason winners despite the departure of Alexandre Grainger- they replaced him with Artizar Medrano of Astograth and young future national teamer Patrice Proulx.

THE REST

AS Cormier are absolute no-hopers who will almost certainly play in Série B next season. Celtic are not hopeless, as they're defensively stout, but the goals will be a real problem. Chambly will go precisely as far as their talented midfield pairing of Baines Wilstead and Luc Tr'xilet will take them, although in actual fact they will almost certainly both be elsewhere by next year. Dominion are soundly mid-table, but it's hard to see them playing in international competition, their old striking issues are back to the forefront, even if they otherwise have a strong spine. Hochelaga are home to lots of PBI players, which says all you need to know. Laval is a potential relegation candidate. Maritime were once a good club, and Lucas Ribeiro still plays hard. Roberval are a pretty strong team for a newly promoted side. Rouen are not. Saint-Richard's Nicolas Quesner is close to a move to a bigger club. Sainte-Catherine are not a power side anymore, although they still have pull with international players, and have become sort of a home for players who have been given up on by other clubs- if manager Cédric Jean can pull even one or two of them around then they may be a top half side.

The ACC Tour is looking for international rinks (teams) and venues for it's new venture to become world's foremost curling competition. Aspiring to be to curling what the Cafundelense First Division is to football, the ACC Tour is hoping to revolutionise global curling.

If you would like to host an event (IC'ly) or send a rink or two to the competition, please TG me.

(OOC'ly, this would not really be much of an RP'ed event, although I'd certainly encourage RP'ing if you wanted to. This would be more like bringing in foreign players to my domestic league. I currently have 4 events and 8 teams, my objective is to double that.)

Lancet Rink (Île des Souris) 7–9 Tr'zar'Le Rink (Îles Brillants)
Gignac Rink (Cotdelapoms) 5–6 Ljiytgoost Rink (Polar Islandstates)
Courtois Rink (Côte-Est) 8–6 Oullette Rink (Marianne)

Tr'zar'Le Rink (Îles Brillants) 4–10 Gignac Rink (Cotdelapoms)

ROUND 5
Lancet Rink (Île des Souris) 5–7 Federström Rink (Cap Nordique)

Courtois Rink (Côte-Est) 5–3 Tr'zar'Le Rink (Îles Brillants)
Oullette Rink (Marianne) 6–4 Ljiytgoost Rink (Polar Islandstates)

ROUND 6
Federström Rink (Cap Nordique) 6–4 Ljiytgoost Rink (Polar Islandstates)
Tr'zar'Le Rink (Îles Brillants) 5–8 Oullette Rink (Marianne)
Baines Rink (Chênederven) 7–9 Courtois Rink (Côte-Est)
Lancet Rink (Île des Souris) 5–4 Gignac Rink (Cotdelapoms)

ROUND 7
Gignac Rink (Cotdelapoms) 6–7 Federström Rink (Cap Nordique)
Courtois Rink (Côte-Est) 6–5 Lancet Rink (Île des Souris)
Oullette Rink (Marianne) 9–4 Baines Rink (Chênederven)
Ljiytgoost Rink (Polar Islandstates) 7–6 Tr'zar'Le Rink (Îles Brillants)

- Pld W L Pts
1 Federström Rink 7 7 0 14
2 Ljiytgoost Rink 7 5 2 10
3 Courtois Rink 7 5 2 10
4 Oullette Rink 7 4 3 8
5 Gignac Rink 7 3 4 6
6 Baines Rink 7 2 5 4
7 Tr'zar'Le Rink 7 1 6 2
8 Lancet Rink 7 1 6 2

Has the Fredrik Federström rink been on a roll or what? It looks like ol' Freddie is in the zone and is gunning to be the Cotdelapomais skip come Olympic time. Meanwhile, Alex Gignac's rink has been unimpressive since becoming the national rink, although the big target on their back may be the problem. There's been concerns that Alex hasn't been calling a good game, and that he may be replaced by teammate Olivier Lafontaine if the problem persists. They were hot in the last ladder tournament, though, so it may just be that they are not worrying themselves during the group stage.

Ladder round
Tr'zar'Le Rink (Îles Brillants) 6–8 Lancet Rink (Île des Souris)
Baines Rink (Chênederven) 6–3 Lancet Rink (Île des Souris)
Baines Rink (Chênederven) 4–2 Gignac Rink (Cotdelapoms)
Baines Rink (Chênederven) 4–7 Oullette Rink (Marianne)
Courtois Rink (Côte-Est) 9–6 Oullette Rink (Marianne)
Courtois Rink (Côte-Est) 3–5 Ljiytgoost Rink (Polar Islandstates)
Federström Rink (Cap Nordique) 7–2 Ljiytgoost Rink (Polar Islandstates)

Rough luck for the Polarian, but it's Fredrik Federström once again, and his rink get to take home $500,000.

With just the Inter-Provincial remaining, the order of merit looks like this:
1. Federström- 25
2. Oullette- 19
3. Gignac- 17
4. Ljiytgoost- 17
5. Baines- 17
6. Courtois- 12
7. Tz'ar'Le- 6
8. Lancet- 5

Is there any doubt that Princess Béatrice Island would like to put one over on their former colonial masters in Nova Cambria? What is it like for visiting nations to play Mwembamba? Why is Nova Cambrian soccer so dire?

Only one of these nations can make the qualifiers for the World Cup, as they are all too lowly ranked in the Rushmori bracket. So, with a spot in World Cup 57 on the line, these three faced off in a three-team mini-league for a chance to get crushed by some of the world's biggest footballing powers!

(OOC: Only one of my non-Cotdelapoms puppets can enter the World Cup. Why not have a little fun with deciding who?)

Princess Béatrice Island 7–2 Nova Cambria
Mwembamba 0–1 Princess Béatrice Island
Nova Cambria 1–0 Mwembamba
Nova Cambria 2–5 Princess Béatrice Island
Princess Béatrice Island 1–0 Mwembamba
Mwembamba 3–1 Nova Cambria

Which do you think was most satisfying for little PBI, the 7-2 win at home against their former masters, or actually going to Nova Cambria and winning 5-2?

The most dominating season in years is nearly drawn to a close, and the most exciting story is the complete and utter failure of Cap Nordique. Injuries decimated the team, and now they are left picking up the pieces- although the pieces will likely wind up being picked up by the league's other clubs. Countless major names of Cotdelapomais football will need new homes, namely national team goalkeeper Yannick Latendresse, Fredrik Gaisban of Swartaz, national team midfielder Jonathan Watson and Cafundelense striker Paulistinha, although you can bet that the big clubs at the top and the suddenly flush with cash Saint-Urbain will be among those who come asking. If you replace Celtic and Cap Nordique with one another, the table isn't too shocking, however! Étoile Rouge's poor season can be explained away with fixture congestion, injuries and a lack of squad depth. Sainte-Catherine can be explained as simply a bad club. The (relative) success of Celtic is shocking, but they built a sturdy defence- the third best in Série A this season. Expect them to feast on the scraps of Cap Nordique!

Who is Cotdelapoms' most popular athlete?

Well, we here at Sport+ wanted to find out! We surveyed our viewers and readers and our personalities and came up with this very scientific list. The top 16 finish in the World Cup of football and top 4 finish in the World Cup of Hockey made for a list surprisingly dense in those two sports and less involved for the rugby players, race car drivers and Serge Charest-X'Arc'H.

TOP 10
1. Per-Olivier Johansson-Bakvis (footballer)
2. Jesper Jensen (footballer)
3. Rick Jones (hockey)
4. Julien Champagne (hockey)
5. Loïk Mailhot (footballer)
6. Pierre Drouin (hockey)
7. Alexandre Briére (hockey)
8. Shannon Noébrand (rugby player)
9. Pascal Sévigny (hockey)
10. Alexandre Pouliot (auto racer)

It's been a good rugby summer for Cotdelapoms, having embarked on a brief tour of the world and emerging with a mostly unblemished record. It started with a two-test series with Mytannion taking place on each side of the strait, and the Strong Apples made the most of it. The first leg of the series took place at Stade de Cotdelapoms, which had previously never been trashed by rowdy Mytanar rebels. Ingpor Evarsson put the men in green ahead early and elated those rebels- the Thessia Jets outside-centre was an absolute nuisance to the Apples in both tests. Benoît Dostie and Shannon Noébrand each had strong tests though as the Apples wound up winning the home leg 24-12.

In Mytannion, the environment was considerably more hostile, and with the pouring rain impeding the play it seemed like the game would be low-scoring and dirty, just as the Mytanars like it. The power of Curtis Wickham, however, made that not the case as the Apples took their second test, by winning 20-9. Next up came a highly forgettable trip to Kulverint, although we saw some strong pack play that came to be the sole bit of encouragement. The tour ended with a big win over Swartaz in Swartaz's freezing rain that was ultimately settled on the pristine kicking of Johann Racicot. Cotdelapoms have to be considered a potential threat to win the upcoming Banque Polaris Six Nations tournament after convincing wins against Swartaz and Mytannion, who are likely the other biggest threats.

NEWS BITS

Image

The ACC Tour has rebranded it's signature curling series as the Global Curling Championship, now with teams from Polar Islandstates, Darmen, Tamarindia, Zwangzug, Nova Cambria and Civil Citizenry. The hope is to also entice the notably prickly teams from Virabia to enter, although in their traditionally isolationist Virabi ways, the new GCC has yet to receive a confirmation. There will also be new events added to the current four-event schedule, including bonspiels abroad in Civil Citizenry and Nova Cambria. The series is looking for a title sponsor (OOC: TG me if you want to provide a title sponsor. Logo is a must.), but has secured a considerable amount of secondary sponsorship and is looking at awarding an unprecedented C$1 million prize to the series winner.

There has been a major shakeup at Baseball Cotdelapoms, under the order of former national team manager and new VP of baseball operations François Désilets. Whilst our nation's two teams in the IBL continue to do moderately well, and Cotdelapomais talent playing abroad in Qazox thrives, domestic baseball remains non-existent at the professional level in Cotdelapoms, which has prompted Désilets to begin talking to various markets about forming an 8 team independent national league. The hope is to build ballparks capable of holding from 6000 to 10000 spectators in markets capable of hosting a team of his nature- perhaps not major media markets where the team will have to compete with top level football, hockey and the CFL, but in cities where baseball can regain some of the traction it had after World Baseball Classic 17.

CHL Season Preview!

This season, the CHL features two new teams, a whole heap of interesting questions and so much on the line, with the Champions League back and giving Cotdelapomais clubs a chance to prove their global supremacy. Four teams will get the honour of playing international hockey, which is now the objective of every team when the season begins. Here at Bench Minor, we've decided to break it down team by team so you don't have to even watch a game this season to know what's up.

From worst to best:

St-Fortunat Saints- Saints are largely hopeless, but they have done a decent job drafting and have a good group of young players together for the future. C Julian Windham is hoping to have a breakout season, and the team will be helped along by the smart signing of Gyatso-kai's D Ko Piandao, who plays with the killer edge that is beloved by the handful of people who are still fans of the Saints.

Sherbrooke Mâtins- The first major pro sports team in Îles Brillants, and the lesser of the two expansion teams, the Mastiffs had an OK expansion draft and are clearly not worried about competing this year. G Markos de Raek from Polar Islandstates was a savvy pick, and they should be solid defensively and on the power play with René Lemay running it.

Baltimore Gulls- For whatever reason the management of the Gulls want to win now despite being an expansion team, perhaps because they are a historic second division city that is now facing the stress of having to compete with the success of Baltimore's Série A club. They brought in a full on star in RW Pierre Belcambre, who is a consistent 20 goal scorer after five years in Portsmouth. They also poached Ian Leblanc with the first pick of the expansion draft away from Albionpool, which is an interesting signing as he's young and talented, but is too much of a headcase for a situation like this.

Rouen Caribou- Rouen have a strong core, Benoît Cohen is a legitimate star, and Andrus Alexopopoulos is about as difficult player to play against as there is in the league, but there's a real lack of depth on this team- turnover magnet Marty Duval shouldn't be getting second line minutes in the CHL.

Kingston Musketeers- The CHL's most meat-heady fans have a pretty deep squad but a lack of real stars. We're ranking them low out of the hope that something awful will happen and they'll have a bad year.

Cap Nordique Drakkar- D Emile D'Aoust is still a star, Princess Béatrice Island national RW Yannick Jodoc is still a good goal scorer, and this is still a weak team.

Sorel Pomhommes- Julian Morris is a talented goaltender, and Marc-Antoine Parent is a good player to build a team around, but good lord do they not score.

Lacs d'Été Otters- It is pretty appropriate that their team is built around Roch Cormier, since he's a quiet and unassuming star and this team is quiet and unassuming but can beat any team on their day.

Chambly Brasseurs- Nobody goes to these games to do anything but get drunk, so it's fitting they now have a Waaldish star. LW Alex var der Kamm should score 30 goals.

Xavier Ours Polaires- Still perhaps our most boring team, playing in the most boring city. Rad sweaters, though.

Saint-Urbain Citadelles- The shock team of two years ago is back in the middle of the pack, where they belong. They have a decent enough core for the future, but they will need to make a big move if they want to win any time soon.

Charlevoix Montagnards- This is José Thibodeau's year to take over the goaltender job, and thank god for that after years of a miserable goaltending tandem. Maybe this year they will get out of round one.

PBI Rangers- The Rangers are gasping for air out in the middle of the road. Resigning Adam Wrentham was a foolish idea, and whilst Mytanar winger Ilya Saiyfulemindirov has an exciting name and is an exciting player, there's not much else going on.

Portsmouth Mallards- Jean-Luc Barr and Julien Champagne get all the attention, but Louis Periard is as good as either, but without the supporting cast. Hopefully the arrival of Gyatso-kai winger Ngo Du will help.

Île d'Elisabeth Osprey- Their window has closed, as they are a bit too old to fight for the championship, but Maxime Deslauriers is obviously still a stud goaltender and even the most hardened Mariner fan has to admit Marco Trussina is a good player in the CHL.

Albionpool Oak Leafs- Ha ha ha. This team thinks it's going to compete for a title.

Montréal Royals- Christian Bruneau's men are once and again far and away the most interesting team in the CHL, using advanced statistical measures to turn around a team that was once the laughing stock of the league. The problem is that they seem to have hit a wall where they can't get too far into the playoffs. Gyatso-kai's all-WCoH XV goaltender Shu Huanguo has arrived to try to bridge the gap between the Royals and the rest of the top teams, and the other inspired arrival was Andrew Barnet, the ex-Portsmouth defenceman who came over in one of the more daring trades of the offeason.

Côte-Est Mariners- Jean-André Vlemincx remains one of the best players in the country, and Newmanistani goaltender Ian Tinordi has been brought in to rival Deslaurier in the east coast goaltending arms race.

Hamilton Tigers- Jean-Luc Barr's coming out party is going to be this year, and if it's not there will be a lot of pressure on Tigers coach Gustave Laporte. Hopefully goalie Pierre Renault is up for the challenge.

Outremont Owls- Rick Jones and Pierre Drouin are all-world, we all know this, but they have built up a massive reputation for cracking under pressure and if they don't ditch it soon they might as well split up.

Worcester Snowbirds- The main rivals for Montréal this year will once again be the Snowbirds who are going to try to compete with Montréal less with raw firepower and more with subtle depth- this team can roll four lines that are all going to grind and compete. Defensively the Snowbirds are a little thin, but Marc Berri looks about ready to pass the torch on to Alexis Landry, who will be perfectly capable.

Montréal Cotdelapomais- The defending champions somehow managed to get even better in the offseason with the addition of massive Mytanar defenceman Wesley Tuuijkers and Princess Béatrice Island international winger Erwan Deniel, who is a scrapper who will be very useful come playoff time. Julien Champagne is liable to score 50 goals this year, and Luca Messina is a threat for 100 points. Pascal Sévigny is the undisputed best goaltender in the country. Rezzi Tzar'kr'El is arrogant, brash and brilliant more often than not, and will be a target of attacks from all comers- which might keep Champagne and Messina safe.

It's the offseason, and the transfer window is about to open once again in Série A- and with big club Cap Nordique being relegated there's a lot of moves about to happen. Already we've seen Fredrik Gaisban move to Montréal and Alex Frej head to Celtic, although those moves will be confirmed when the window opens Friday. The other worst kept secret in Série A is that Montréal goalkeeper Getúlio is retiring, which will prompt Le Tricolore to spend on either Yannick Latendresse or Lars Hegg Gammel. Here's a list of players likely for sale and where they may end up:

Yannick Latendresse- Obviously any big wage earner at Cap Nordique is on their way out (although rumours have Jonathan Watson staying out of loyalty), and Latendresse may be the most in demand. With Getúlio retiring and Tout-Puissant Outremont looking to upgrade Jimmy London, the price on Latendresse may move higher than he is worth at 30 years old. Lars Hegg Gammel of Saint-Urbain is another option, but Saint-Urbain has set his price tag astronomically high in order to cash in on his sale should it occur- they are in the driving seat and have no reason to sell. Nor does Worcester have a reason to move Romain Frederiksson. There is obviously also the option of either club signing an international 'keeper, which Outremont will almost certainly do if they lose out on Latendresse, the Cotdelapoms #1.

Christian- The hard partying Cosmopolitan winger may have worn out his welcome at the capital club and will likely be sold this offseason. He has fairly extensive national team experience, and was, at the time, Cosmopolitan's biggest signing. His pace is still there, and he's just as talented on the ball as ever, but he is easily distracted and has not been as consistent since joining Cosmopolitan as he was with little Sainte-Catherine. Rumours have always swirled around his off-field activities, so he may be best off in a place like Saint-Urbain or Côte-Est.

Elvis Andropolous- Montréal's purchase of Andropolous was genius at the time, but he is now surplus to demands with the team having a midfield that features Jesper Jensen, Alexandre Faille, Sacha St-Onge, Stefano Della Citta, Róbson and Jean Bédard. There is not enough playing time to go around and Andropolous seems like the obvious one to go, with Faille and St-Onge being too popular, Jensen being too good and the others being too young. Andropolous is only 26, so he's certainly a valuable contributor and has no problems with being out of the limelight. If Celtic are serious about getting back to where they were ten years ago, there are worse places to start than with Elvis.

Guillaume Leblanc- Hochelaga are going to sell high on their national team defender, much like Chambly with Loïk Mailhot before them. Good reinvestment could keep Hochelaga in the top flight for 10 years, shoddy work like Chambly did with the money could make them a yo-yo team. Leblanc would fit in about anywhere, although there's a good chance he'll go abroad.

Paulistinha and Leandro- The Cafundelense/Mytanar strike duo at Cap Nordique will certainly be sent elsewhere, and the question is only "where". Ultimately, just about anyone but Montréal and Outremont need scoring help, so it might just be a fiscal arms race. If Celtic's seriousness of competing in UICA/Rushmori competitions is the story of the offseason, expect them to pick up one. If Outremont are concerned Per-Olivier Johansson-Bakvis is soon to retire, don't be surprised to see them get one just in case, although this may create uncertainty on the bench.

Seriously, this again? Oh, well. It's a new season of the CFL, the perplexingly popular sport that nobody seems to actually follow or know about. This season saw some stability as no teams changed from last time out, although once again only Cap Nordique managed to draw any sort of real attendance- an average of 35,000 fans a game- with the league's other 8 teams averaging 8500. Fans have started to turn out in Baltimore and Portsmouth, although the league is still embarrassed that no matter what, noobdy goes to see Albionpool- regardless of the team name, colours, or whether or not they win. They had the best record in the league during the regular season at 11-5 and their players won a bunch of awards. It's all about the playoffs, though, let's see how that went...

PRELIMINARY ROUND
Hamilton Galaxy 42–19 Worcester Ibex

SEMI-FINALS
Albionpool Rangers 46–17 Hamilton Galaxy
Cap Nordique Argonauts 28–30 Montréal Saints

COUPE DARJEELING (played in Hamilton, Chênederven)
Albionpool Rangers 35–31 Montréal Saints

Congrats to the Albionpool Rangers for doing the one thing that might get people to care about them. And by people I mean "Nordistes" and by care about them I meant "hate them even more".

One year on from falling just short of the NCFL Premiership, our Albionpool Ravens finished dead last on the most recent season's ladder, partially due to losing some of their prime talent in the offseason, and partially because of injuries.

Guess what's ba-aack???

ROUND ONE
MATCHDAY 1
Worcester Hearts 3-1 Vieux-Port
Saint-Urbain 0-1 Charlevoix
Saint-Richard 0-4 Brossard
Sainte-Catherine 1-0 Roberval
Cosmopolitan 4-1 Rouen
Baltimore 0-1 Étoile Rouge
Montréal 5-4 Sparta
Chambly 1-1 Maritime
Celtic 1-6 Tout-Puissant Outremont
Hochelaga 0-1 Dominion

Round one is always the most enjoyable part of the season- full of promise and potential, and prone to crazy results. The big clubs had big rounds- Outremont going mental on Celtic, including a hat trick from P-O J-B, who is clearly trying to silence the people who suggest it is time for him to retire. Le Tricolore won a wild one in Montréal against Sparta that could have so easily gone either way. Worcester won at home against new boys Vieux-Port. Speaking of new boys, Brossard got a stunning 4-0 win over Saint-Richard that will almost certainly be the season highlight. Charlevoix also got a win, an impressive 1-0 away win over Saint-Urbain!
