What ethnicity to you relate to? (US / AU / NZ / CA)

For most Americans, (or other former British colony citizens) they consider their ethnicity to be mixed with several others. For example, I am German-Irish-Italian American. However, I would say I relate to my Irish heritage the most, although I am proud of my Italian and German heritage as well.

Which of your ethnicities do you relate to most?

*I'm posting a pole based on the top 6 European ethnicities in the US. I'm sorry if yours is not in the poll, but it's just for a basic idea

Mexican in general.

I'm composed of mixed Russian/Turkish/Mexican heritage. I identify the most with the Mexican side, while not even bothering with the other two.

lol. Well, they all have incredibly interesting histories and cultures. Personally I guess I identify with the Irish most because I admire their struggles. I guess I picture them as being what the native Americans might have been like had they not died in such large numbers due to disease.

True. There always is something interesting about a culture, but then you have the Welsh and New Zealanders.......

Mexico in particular for it's native and colonial cultures, both of which are unique and enjoyable to study. I identify with the Russian side as a sort of distant sympathy, and the Turkish side echoes pride over the work of Ataturk.

Since I'm adopted I have no idea what I am besides biracial White/Black, but my biological mother's last name suggests I have English ancestry.

I relate to and identify myself as a Black person, though.

My family gene pool is a clusterfuck of DNA from all across Europe. As far as I'm aware though, my family mostly has Slavic ancestry.

German and British.

My mother is German, and my dad is an American, but my American side ultimately came from England on the third Mayflower trip (confirmed because I've seen the family records).

On top of that, I had a German great grandfather and an American great grandfather fight against each other on D-Day.

I like to think I have an interesting family history.

I'm mostly Russian and Hungarian, with some Polish, Brit and Palestinian mixed in. I wear my bomber cap with pride! And I do one hell of an accent.

Similarzies. I'm a clusterfuck of Europeans as well. My Grandfather was Bavarian, and immigrated to the US in the 60's. My other ancestors come from Scandinavia, French (not the gay France, mine come from Normandy, basically more Vikings), and English. Then I have French Canadian and Native American.

So I'd call myself an Anglo-Saxon, because that is where Germans come from. But most importantly, I call myself American.

TL;DR Normans are awesome. We got awesome in us. The French are a bit less awesome.

I understand history, and I like Normans. I just dislike people slagging the French. If you'd like to discuss why France being overran so quickly had nothing to do with the French being 'pussies' we can start another thread for that.

I have as much English heritage as I do Dutch. But I'd support the latter any day.

Explains why I call myself a New Zealander of Dutch descent.

If I had to pick, I'd say my Dutch ancestry, simply because it's the most significant.
