I have no idea what 'pigouvian' means, but it sounds right so sure.

It means 'from Pigouvia'.

It's a European microstate that's known for its tax system which is based entirely on pigs.

How about this, dump the current tax system, set up some taxes that are not allowed to change, give the republican/stupid civilians some taxes that are allowed to be changed to play around with, and than (just for fun) abolish political parties and the right to run ad campaigns.

Err... Hell no. Inflexible systems collapse when situations change, and removing the right to run ad campaigns would mean no one would know who is running.

I said some taxes that can't change, I.E. Income tax. And if politicians weren't allowed to do ad campaigns they would do it they way they used to. They could talk on the radio, the tv, the internet, just because they aren't allowed to shove a disgusting quantity of ads designed to do nothing other than dominate the weak minded down your throat doesn't mean they can't communicate.

You called the changeable taxes ones "to play around with", implying that they wouldn't be ones of significant impact. And all that talking is part of an ad campaign, except it is a part limited to people already interested in whatever show they are on.

My bad, it's two in the morning and I should have specified the difference. And honestly, if people want to know who is running for a government position, fuck them they can look it up. Besides, I don't vote, so I don't bitch about who gets put in office, if some one in office does something monumentally stupid, then i'll complain. Which leads into my next bit, make paying taxes optional, you pay the taxes you get the benefit, some one breaks into your house, tough luck you don't pay taxes, your house burning down? Tough luck, the fire fighters will show up to keep the fire from spreading but other than that your house will burn, how much you bet people would stop complaining then?

Except the burning house could keep re-igniting the neighboring houses depending on how close and flammable they are, and would definitely be releasing toxic smoke.

But yeah, I understand the thing about it being late and getting tired.

There would obviously be some sight which lists candidates and their positions.

I would definitely not at all be repelled by the idea of abolishing political campaigns.

we have a test for how well that will work when the congress comes back. the gas tax needs to be reauthorized.

it should be "fun" to see if they decide to gut our highway maintenence funds too.

Ash you forgot the play book. They gut the highway maintenance fund for more tax cuts for the Job Creators TM and then privatize it! That way the stressed Job CreatorsTM can have an option for private toll lanes and have a less stressful commute to work. This way they can think about all the jobs they will create with all the money they will get.

Um, no.

It's from the economist Arthur Pigou, who first posited the concept of counterdistortionary taxes, with the primary goal of correcting flawed market structures and the secondary goal of raising revenue in a non-distortionary fashion.

Except the guillotine was referred to as Madame Guillotine, especially around the period of the French Revolution. Thank you come again.

And? Completely irrelevant to what I said. I just like pointing out that the Guillotine was invented by Doctor Guillotine.

And my prediction if that does happen:

From the rich people? It's a circular feed back loop that operates in a vacuum, more or less.
