The Cotdelapoms team arrived at Roddens International Airport on a low-key charter flight, with much of their away following on the same flight - around 500 away fans were expected in all, while a sell-out is expected thanks to growing home support. 8,815 tickets have been made available in all - slightly reduced from the stadium's official capacity of 8,853, due to segregation of home and away fans within the South Stand - and just before the match, only around 100 remained. All 1,093 tickets returned after the humbling defeat to Monfortia have been returned, and there is a real sense of anticipation after the stunning bounceback win in Delaclava.

"This game," coach Contrope Prorim told gathered press corps yesterday, "is likely to decide a qualifier for the knockout stages." An awfully brave statement to make in this ridiculously choppy group, it has to be said, but if it motivates players and fans, maybe it'll work. Prorim also said that "yes, we have been praying to Margaret, and we ask you to support us in any way you can, and if that means praying for divine intervention, by all means. Put it this way, nobody thinks it's going to make things any worse for us."

Meanwhile, leading sports journalists have united in refusing to predict future outcomes for the tournament, as some have tried to in other nations, and one unexpectedly declared support for superstition; "these results are so remarkably unexpected that you have to say these folks going on about Margaret might be talking more sense than any of the rest of us in explaining them," said Thomas Hoogle, of the Roddens Chronicle. His colleague on the sports desk, Vincent Marcotte, was rather less guarded. "We'll beat Cotdelapoms by four or five in this game," he predicted, "and then eventually go on to the last sixteen, where we'll lose to Cosumar in overtime."

"If we don't play Cosumar?", enquired Hoogle. "Then maybe we make the last eight, even the last four. Cosumar are going to win the whole thing."

"Man, Vincent, you're gonna look foolish if you're wrong."

Game What game?

Well as the team was preparing to play against Crolacia, Coach La Huey got some good news, the team wasn't to play last night, apparently some real bad weather was coming through and the game will now be played today. Coach La Huey said, "Well in truth after Monday's loss I'm very happy with this and glad mother nature decided to feel sorry for us, we have an extra day to practice and that is what we're doing, lets hope this happens more often because I'm enjoying this extra time."
Coach La Huey was asked how he felt after that painful loss to Jamalon Monday
"Well what do you expect, we made mistakes but Jamalon made less and so they won, nerve racking the game was 14-15 final in overtime I've only had one of those before and that was in the NLL Championship game Evillest beat out the number one ranked Gemsbrook Fire 19 to 18 and that was also never racking. But I still hope we can learn from our mistakes."
So far thru this tournament WG is 1-2 third in group 2 they have only beaten Mangolana 13–16 the other two games they lost to Jamalon and Crolacia. Tonight they however will want to exact some revenge as they play Crolacia.

VCNMN's Coverage of the World Lacrosse Championships XII

Frederick Reigh here. So far, the Shining Canines have two wins and one lose. There most recent game resulted in a victory for Evoca and defeat for Vulshain. The players were deeply upset by this defeat. However, it is no surprise that the Shining Canines are determined to bounce back in their next game. Rurik Semyoha had this to say: "Yeah, we lost. I guess we were just nervous or we got cocky. But, the next game, it's going to be different." Let's continue to cheer the Shining Canines on ladies and gentlemen as they go up against Stuffed Taxidermists in a rematch. This is Frederick Reigh for VCNMN.

So Vital, So Soon

Matchday Four's game against Newmanistan is somewhat critical for making the knockout stage. Why? the way this tourney is going so far, Wolfmanne is stuck on the bottom with a one and two record and an absoulately terrible goal difference, Bucknia, on the other hand is quite strong. however Newmanistan and Camwood are down to the wire. Newmanistan already won the opener and beating Camwood would clinch the head to head tie breaker, so in the event of a tie Newmanistan would advance.

Idealy Camwood would win and Wolfmanne would win because that wiiuld send Newmanistan and Bucknia down. Bucknia should be Camwood's biggest worry, because at the moment Bucknia has a tied record and is only one goal away in goal difference. If the ideal scenario happen's today, Matchday, Four, Camwood then has an easy game against Wolfmanne to possibly retire them. As long as Camwood can maintain a winning record the Jays will be in good shape. One loss can mess things up, but two ca ultimately screw their chances. Matchday four is so vital, so soon.

Lacrosse is a big deal in Camwood. Or at least college lacrosse. The CCAA's (Camwood collegiate Athletics Association) Most Popular Sport poll stated that 63% of Collegiate Sports Viewers watch lacrossse. So being a college lacrosse player comes with fame, but when you graduate it goes away. That is why some players are considering a move to the nation of Mytannion. Unlike most sporting nations, Mytannnion has professional lacrosse and might be open for foreign players.The director of Team Camwood, Terry Foxand released a statement about the idea.

"It's a good idea, the players get to play and we get payed when we sell the players. It's a win, win." But if lacrosse in Camwood countinues to grow, there will be demand for a pro lacrosse league. And if there will be one there would most likely only be two to four team in only the biggest cities of Camwood, and probably up north as well. If a CLL is formed it will probably out wiegh going to Mytannion because most players wouldmost likely want to stay at home.

Exclusive Interview with Dragons Attacker Tracy Sheppard
Dragonslacrosse.cos's Emery Billups goes one on one with the Cosumarite Team Captain


EB: Tracy Sheppard! Thanks for taking the time to talk to us here at dragonslacrosse.cos. It's great to see you.

TS: Of course it is! Everybody loves to see me...All joking aside, I'm happy to be here. I used to be an active member of this site in high school.



EB: So Tracy. Coach McDougle has talked a lot about how this Dragons team is so different than the ones of years past. What is it that is so different?

TS: I just really think this team is more balanced overall than some of the previous ones. You're only as good as you're weakest link, but this time, there's no weak link on the team. And I mean, a lot of these guys are veterans with World Lacrosse Championship experience so there's great leadership and chemistry.



EB: Three games into the 12th World Lacrosse Championships, and Cosumar is undefeated. Can you describe the team's journey up to this point?

TS: Wow, that's a rather broad question Mr. Billups. Well, it all started off with lots of work and practice. We've been preparing for this tournament for months and going in we felt like we were good enough to make an impact this year. We picked up some confidence by beating Armorgames. Then we kept on plugging and took down Allamunnic States. That was huge for us, of course, everyone knows how successful the Volunteers have been in the past. That victory really gave us a lot of momentum. Last week's close scrape over Tarrentum was a much-needed wake up call, but we found a way to pull out the win. This week we've been preparing for our rematch with Armorgames tonight. We know they will be hungry for a win to avenge their previous loss.



EB: What do you think the remainder of Group Stage has in store for you guys? Is an undefeated record in the realm of possibility?

TS: In no way are we thinking about that right now. We may very well end up with an undefeated record, but right now we are just taking it one game at a time. Every game must be earned, we are not taking anything for granted. We've faced each team in our group once, and defeated all of them. Now, at the very least, we know we have the potential to advance.



EB: Tonight, the Dragons head home to Centus to take on Armorgames yet again. What is your take on tonight's game?

TS: In our previous meeting, Armorgames showed us that they are no joke. And they've continued to prove it. They lead all teams in total goals. Although we didn't have much of a problem with them, Armorgames has caught on fire since then. They're a streaky, lethal team. Having said that, we've already taken them down once, but a week or two ago. I really don't think it's likely that, after proving ourselves the better team once, we could lose to them now. I think a Cosumarite victory is on the cards - but I've been wrong before.



EB: You have been hailed by many as the greatest lacrosse player to ever don a Cosumarite uniform. What do you make of that?

TS: I think it's a bit too early in my career to proclaim something like that. I'm not going to lie and pretend that I don't know I'm one of Cosumar's finest - because I am. But lets wait until I bring the Fiefdom a WLC Title before we start giving me titles!



EB: Leonard Fisher took an early exit from the Tarrentum game with a knee injury. Medical staff have announced that he will miss the rest of the Group Stage but could be back in time for the playoffs if necessary. How will Fisher's absence affect you guys?

TS: Obviously, Fisher is a huge part of our team. He is the most skilled and experienced of our starting midfielders and he provided a concrete presence at that position. I often counted on him to give me opportunities to score. Losing Fisher will definitely have its effects and will take time to adapt to the vastly different playing style of Anders Deriel. By the same token, Deriel is a seasoned veteran who know's what he's doing and doesn't make mistakes. We'll be fine.

BigDaddy11 - Pfft no question about it that Sheppard is the greatest Cosumarite lacrosse player ever. He don't need any damn titles to prove it. All the evidence ya need is to watch him play. Who else could put on a display of offensive firepower like he did against Tarrentum?

Dr@gonsR0kk - Sheppard scores goals, but Leonard Fisher was the most valuable player on the team. He did all the vital behind the scenes dirty work and is one of the primary reasons Sheppard scores so many goals in the first place. Losing Fisher is going to hurt them more than Sheppard is letting on. Just wait till the game tonight and see for yourself. Hate to say it, but Armorgames is going to run over Anders Deriel...he's old and slow.

Can'tTouchThis - @ lacrossemaster Dude you shouldn't look up to pricks like Sheppard. Yeah he's good, but he's arrogant and inconsiderate as hell and rather stupid. Perhaps he should've stayed awake in school instead of obsessing over lacrosse. What's he going to do after he's done with lacrosse hmmm? Don't pretend like the sport pays enough to ensure financial stability for the rest of his life.

Shadow Slayer - Everytime I watch Cosumar play I'm always amazed by Sheppard's athleticism and skills. He's an impressive guy. Emery Billups is lucky! I wish I got to meet him!

More Bad Weather

Games that have been scheduled in Jimmer Fredette have been rescheduled to later today or tommorrow, due to heavy thunderstorms. No damage was reported to the stadium. The teams hotel was hit by what seemed to be a lightning strike however, briefly knocking out power before the hotel's generator kicked in. It's safe to say that members of the Elephdonkeys didn't get much sleep last night, so I wonder how this will affect their performance. Jimmer Range itself was not damaged except for a few trees that fell during the storm.

Surprise Loss

The Abdian team suffered its first loss today, losing to the Jimmer Fredette Force 12-9. The ABK team is still ahead in group standings. This was a surprise loss, as we beat Jimmer Fredette quite easily last time.

The Abdian team was stifled from the start, with Joseph Gray coordinating the Force defense very well. Cal Fitch broke through late in the first, but by then, it was 3-1. Both teams scored twice in the second, making the game 5-5. The Jimmer team came out roaring in the third, scoring three goals in succession in the first six minutes of the second half. They cooled off a bit after that, but still led 9-6. Both teams scored three times in the fourth, with two more goals by Cal Fitch not being enough to mount a comeback.

After the game, Coach Gold said, "I think it was a trap game of sorts. We came in overconfident after our victory over Churchma, and then we just blew it." Attacker Steven McKinley, who had two goals added, "I think that pretty much sums it up. But give the Force credit, they just plain outplayed us, there's now way around it.

The Elephdonkeys next travel to Ack Barnes, who we beat last time we played. The stadium is at a top-secret military base, and I do not think even reporters will be let in. I believe we will be watching the game from a distant television, so that we can write our match reports. Cal Fitch led the Abdians with 3 goals.

ARMORGAMES NEWS

Well, we were close. But, close is just not going to cut it.

Armorgames lost to Cosumar 18–17. Matching every goal until Cosumar scored with 30 seconds left in regulation. This was a game that AG needed to win, but since they lost, they are now tied for second with The Allamunnic States.

So now, I will give you the goal scorers, but in a quarterly game recap way instead of the list. So here we go:

1st quarter.
Armorgames starts out with a goal by Ali Lorkowski. Cosumar then responds back immediately with a score from Keenan Kurvat. Cosumar then scores 2 minutes later with another goal by Keenan Kurvat. AG matches them with a goal by Rarhael Paulik, who will go on to have a great game. Armand Galas scores for AG to put them ahead. Sean Barish then scores for Cosumar, which is followed up by a goal by Bernard Shafer. AG scores with a minute left via a goal by Hal Abend. The game is tied at 4 after the first quarter.

2nd quarter
Like I said earlier, Rarhael Paulik had a great game. Well, to start out the second quarter, he scored 3 straight goals to put AG ahead by 3. But, that lead wouldn't last long since Cosumar scored four unanswered goals to put them ahead. The people who scored for Cosumar were Sean Barish, Francois Aladoule, and Keenan Kurvat who scored twice. AG would follow with two goals by Dane Decristoforo. Rarhael Paulik scored again to end the first half. Armorgames was leading 10-8.

3rd quarter
In the 3rd quarter, Armorgames looked like they had lost all of their offense. They only scored one goal the entire quarter, and that came 44 seconds in. It was scored by Hal Abend. The rest of the quarter was all Cosumar. They scored 6 goals this quarter, all coming by just two different people. Francois Aladoule scored 4 of the goals, and Sean Barish scored the other two. Cosumar was now leading 14-11.

4th quarter
With Armorgames losing going into the 4th, coach decided to put in an extra attacker and take out a midfielder. Carey Pullan was put in the place of Moises Mcinturf. This move is kind of risky since it takes out somebody who can defend. But when goals are needed, you have to do what you have to do.

Losing the defender turned out to be costly in the beginning of the quarter. Tracy Sheppard collected 2 goals for Cosumar before AG could score. Bernard Shafer then scored another goal for Cosumar without any response by Armorgames. With AG down by 6, they had a huge hole to climb, but they tried to get out. AG then scored 6 of their own unanswered goals with Rarhael Paulik scoring five of them, and the last one was scored by Carey Pullan. They game was now tied at 17, and Cosumar would score with 30 seconds left in the match to win. The goal was scored by Tracy Sheppard, who was announced the player of the game.

So that is that. Now I guess I will give you the total goal scored by player.

Or something like that. Anyway, it has been defensive strength that has come out of nowhere for Team KP, and so while the 9-6 victory over Cotdelapoms at Roddens University Field was nothing like as enjoyable as the 16-15 loss in the reverse fixture on the opening matchday, the home fans in the sellout crowd wouldn't have had it any other way. As much as people watch sport for entertainment value, once you have loyalties to one individual or team, you'd generally rather take an ugly win over a beautiful defeat.

Certainly, the fans here did.

"Thank Margaret we won!", cried one supporter in a manner that suggested that a ban on the sale of alcohol at the stadium probably ought to be banned before the Delaclava game. (Don't worry, fans, it won't be.) "It was a boring game, but we beat them at last!", cheered another. "The key thing is we're second in the group, and if we can beat Monfortia next, we can afford to lose to Delaclava," a more sober fan opined. "Or," he added, "we could do it the other way round, like last time." He laughed. "That's sport, isn't it?" Well, on this tournament's evidence, that's lacrosse, at any rate. Jimmer Fredette defeating an unbeaten Abdian side 12-9, Cosumar edging out Armorgames in an 18-17 classic in which they surrendered a 17-11 fourth-quarter lead before scoring in the last minute (and you thought Team KP's opener was scary enough), and 0-3 Mangolana winning 11-9 away to 3-0 Jamalon were three more remarkable data points in a tournament that has left statisticians scratching their heads.

Blame Margaret. It's all you can do. And if this is of her doing, at least Team KP are in her good books.

Gone Ahead

After a win against Newmanistan, Camwood has gone ahead. Wolfmanne managed to beat Bucknia, and Camwood has been set up in great shape.

The game against Newmanistan wasn't terribly close, a 16-11 win. Camwood scored 5 in the first, while Newmanistan only came away with two. At half time Camwood had eight goals and Newmanistan had 6. the third expanded for Newmanistan tieing the game at ten a piece. The final quarter got ugly. Camwood went on a scoring spree to put on six points to make the score sixteen, eleven.

The next game is also in Camwood against Wolfmanne. The more wins the better. Hopefully by Matchday seven Camwood can clinch a play off berth.

VCNMN's Coverage of the World Lacrosse Championships XII

Frederick Reigh here. It was a close game, a very close game. With only a few seconds left, Stuffed Taxidermists scored the final shot of the match. "It was a close game. It could have gone either way, but unfortunately, it went the other way," Head Coach Galiena Hedwig said. She was proud of her players, even though they didn't win. "The Shining Canines played an excellent game. They have come a long way since we first started playing on an international level. There is room for improvement, but I'm very proud of them." The Shining Canines will be going up against Group leader, Carmadin in their next match. Winter storm to blame for WLC delays

Harsh wintry weather racked Northeastern Cosumar for much of last week, including the most powerful blizzard the Fiefdom has seen in almost a decade. The level 3.5 snow storm originated in the North Cosumarite Ocean and by the end of the week had advanced as far south as Centus. Pardock Island was hit the worst - although many populated areas on the mainland suffered damage as well. Almost 70 people were injured in the storm and the structural damage to buildings is estimated to be worth several million Chrons. But more importantly, it caused Cosumar's WLC game against Armorgames to be postponed - twice!

I'm ashamed to admit it, but yes, I was more upset about waiting two extra days to see the Dragons play than I was about the peril my countrymen in the North had to endure. Although the storm was drawing to a close on gameday, the field at Cosumaquest Stadium was completely iced over and the 2 day delay ensued.

Playing Games with Armorgames

Although the wait for the game was long, man, it was so worth it! After one of the highest scoring (and closest) games in the entire tournament, Cosumar managed to edge Armorgames for a 18-17 victory. Last night, the lacrosse teams of Cosumar and Armorgames played out their second of three meetings in this WLC. The Dragons had their way with Armorgames in the very first matchday, but with bolstered confidence, Armorgames put up much more of a fight this time around.

Watching the game was like playing tug-of-war. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Cosumar would go on a run and gain a sizable lead - only to give it away and let Amorgames put out their own run together minutes later (including an especially frustrating run in which Armorgames scored six straight to erase a 17-11 lead). This happened several times throughout the game. Aside from the frustrating lack of defense from both squads, it was quite the peculiar game.

Thus far, Sheppard was the only Dragon that had proven himself to be a threat on offense. But for once, Tracy Sheppard was not the driving force of the Cosumar offense (gasp)! Sheppard appeared to be struggling for most of the game as Emanuel Gradney and the Armorgames defenders constantly double teamed him. Armorgames wisely forced Cosumar to prove that they were not a one man squad - a term that many "experts" had bestowed upon the Dragons in WLC 12.

All critics were silenced when the supporting cast of Cosumar stepped up and put on a phenomenal show. Of Cosumar's 18 goals, only 3 were scored by the infamous Tracy Sheppard. Midfielder Francois Aladoule had the game of a lifetime with five goals, while attacker Keenan Kurvat contributed four goals of his own early in the game. Sean Barish and Bernard Shafer also scored multiple goals. Though the spectacular scoring display from the Dragons' secondary athletes was the highlight of the game, it is impossible to keep Tracy Sheppard out of the action for long.

Sheppard finally broke free of his constraining double team in the fourth quarter - scoring all three of his goals in the fourth. Though the Dragons had fared better than expected without him for three-and-a-half quarters of the game, it was still close in the final minutes, and like a true leader, Tracy Sheppard appeared in the nick of time to lead his team to victory. Sheppard scored two quick goals to extend Cosumar's lead to 17-11 midway through the fourth. Despite Sheppard's momentous return to prolific scoring, the Dragons defense then lurched to a halt and allowed Armorgames (led by Rarhael Paulik) to storm back and even it up at 17 - with only 30 seconds remaning.

It was the Dragons' ball and there was no question who was going to take the potential game-winning shot. Tracy Sheppard zigged his way up the field, dodging and evading Armorgames midfielders and defenders left and right - evoking feelings of deja vu from the eerily similar ending to the game against Tarrentum. And just as in the Tarrentum game, Sheppard's signature moves put the Armorgames goalie off balance. And just as in the Tarrentum game, Sheppard's aim rang true as the ball sunk into the back of the net. Though Sheppard was essentially absent for most of the game, he stepped up when it counted, and was named Player of the Game.

That's two close scrapes in a row for Cosumar. The luck of the Dragons are on their side - let's hope it stays that way.


A Stroke of Misfortune

It's awesome that Cosumar defeated Armorgames last night, but sadly, Strength and Fitness Coach Lou Alvetori was not able to witness it and can no longer serve on the Dragons' staff. No he did not resign, and he didn't get fired either. The 52-year-old Coach was found discovered unconscious in his home late Thursday night and was immediately rushed to Centus East District Hospital.

Hours later, hospital staff announced that Lou Alvetori had suffered a severe stroke. The extent of the stroke is not yet concrete information, however, hospital staff has reported that it will take him several months to recover. Furthermore, he has regained consciousness and is believed to have memory loss to an extend unknown at this time.

None of the Cosumarite players knew of Alvetori's tragic accident until after the game against Armorgames. Head Coach Duke McDougle has simply told them that "Coach Alvetori can't make it tonight" because he did not want the Dragons distracted during the game.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Alvetori and his family and friends, as well as the Cosumar Lacrosse team.


Dyno's Game Preview: Cosumar @ Allamunnic States

The Allamunnic States of the present is not the Allamunnic States of the past. After 4 games, that much is already clear. And with a 2-2 record and bad losses to Cosumar and Armorgames, the Volunteers have lost one of their most priveleged advantages: Intimidation. Before play began, the Volunteers received extreme amounts of hype. Fans filling out their brackets early often selected Allamunnic States as champion. There seemed to be an air of superiority emanating from the Volunteers' camp, and other teams feared it.

Now that Allamunnic States has been hammered 20-8 by Armorgames and 13-9 by Cosumar, no one is fooled by that scharade anymore. Cosumar and Armorgames have both turned out to be better than originally thought - leaving Allamunnic States vulnerable to missing the playoffs. By the same token, Allamunnic States is still capable of laying down the law as evidenced by their two strong wins over Tarrentum.

Maybe Allamunnic States has just had a bad start, maybe they were vastly overrated. Either way, they are still a dangerous team with something no other team in the group has - experience advancing deep into the WLC. Tomorrow night, the Dragons MUST NOT make the mistake of under-estimating Allamunnic States - something easy to do when you have already defeated a team once. If Cosumar can keep a level head and remained poised I am confident that they can capture their 5th win at Federal Steel Field in Allamunnic States. Especially if the entire team plays how it did against Armorgames and the Dragons do not rely solely on Tracy Sheppard.

The Volunteers' Slava Hendriks may just be the best defender in the tournament and is sure to cause problems as he did on matchday 2. However; it seems to me that this year's Allamunnic attackers trio of Dahlgren, Sommers, Shoenuerg is inconsistent and struggles to produce against quality defense. I predict a Cosumar victory, but it will not be as sure-handed as matchday 2. But don't take my word for it! Watch the game tonight on CSBNALT3 and see for yourself who will emerge victorious!

Hello! On behalf of the Citiz Ministry of Sport and the people of Civil Citizenry, the Citiz Lacrosse Administration would like to thank you for your participation in the ongoing World Lacrosse Championships. We must also thank everyone for electing us as the hosts of this glorious tournament. Four rounds of games have been played, and as we approach the halfway mark of the tournament it is nearly time for all teams to visit Civil Citizenry to play the final three games of the group stage. This letter is to inform you of the information you may need to know about where you will be visiting.

Groups 1 and 2 will play their neutral-site games in Comesby. Comesby is a relatively small city of about 340,000 residents; located near the heart of the country, it is not traditionally known for its sports. However, it is generally accepted that the Comesby Hornets are the top lacrosse team in the country, and their home stadium - Hornets Arena, which seats 22,000 - will be the stadium for these games. Hornets Arena is also serving as the home field for the Citiz national lacrosse team. Comesby is located near Briarshaw, a large city of nearly 1.6 million. The former is generally considered quaint - almost a tribute to architectural standards of the past. What it lacks in modern beauty, it makes up for in charm: it is easy to get comfortable in the small urban area. Because of the small population, Comesby is rather cozy; however, the city legislature has worked hard to bring down the level of traffic in the city, so noise won't be much of an issue.

Groups 3 and 4 will play their neutral-site games in Eastern Chase. Eastern Chase is the largest city in the east of the country (and the nation's second-largest), with about 3.9 million residents. The city is rabid about sports, most notably for football, where two-time Golden Championship winning club Eastern Chase dominate the scene. Percentage-wise, lacrosse isn't as popular in Eastern Chase as it is in Comesby, but the size of the city ensures that there are many lacrosse fanatics to be found. Games will be played in Chase Stadium, a 16,000-seat multi-purpose stadium that also hosts Team Lannymore, another King's League football squad. Eastern Chase is considered the most modern city in the nation, but it is also the most diverse. Its location means that there are many Astograthians and Yorozuyans that live there. As a result, your teams won't have any trouble finding varieties of cuisine - so dine out every night!

Groups 5 and 6 will pay their neutral-site games in Bartewick. Bartewick is the capital of Civil Citizenry, and the country's largest city, supporting a population of 5.1 million. Bartewickians love lacrosse, so the 18,500-seat HQ Arena will likely be filled to capacity every night. Bartewick is a coastal town, located along the Bay of Mork and the Sea of Modraine; teams will stay in hotels along the water, so no one will ever be at a loss for great views. Take the time to go down to Bartewick's lovely beaches, along which the third Beach Cup final was played. There is never a shortage of interesting things to find and do around the city.

Groups 7 and 8 will pay their neutral-site games in Bartewick, too. The city is big enough to host four groups comfortably, but while two will play at HQ Arena, the others will play at Locale Field, seating 12,000 and hosting the Bartewick Ghosts. Locale is the nation's largest shoe-seller, known best for its top-notch athletic footwear, and sponsors League C1, the seventh-division football league. If you have some time after the tournament, hang around Bartewick and take a ferry to the island of Victorwick. The views you will see on that ride are absolutely stunning, so don't miss out!

Hey, I'm Luka if you haven't already read this blog. I'm a lacrosse player, I play for Ouverjavaa Rebels - and more recently, I've been called-up to the national team, and have made 3 appearances at the top level of lacrosse. We started off in the group shakily, certainly - losing to Gallund - but we have recovered well since then - and now look in a very good situation altogether. We've won three games straight, after our win over Gallund last night - it was a tight game, for sure - we only won 11-10, but a win is a win and we'll take a win every time - even if we only win by one goal each time. We're doing well, top of the group etc, and we're really showing the shades of our past play - beating teams, even though we aren't necessarily playing well...

For example, our win over Gallund.. We won 11-10, as I said - but we only won because of how strong our defending was. Although our play was very start-stop and lacked the amount of creativity that we probably would have liked. We still won the game, though - and that is what is important. We sit prettily top of the Group A table - with a 3-1 record - which can still improve, and if possible - we'd like it to go all the way to an 8-1 record, the best record we can possibly have now, and also a record which will probably be enough to have the best record in the whole tournament. Milo Tyrella is only improving, although he is 29, so he is at the peak of his fitness really - and of course, he is one of the best players of our generation in any sport that our nation competes in. He scores amazing amounts of goals, he sets-up play for others and he led us to our first-ever World Championship in any sport, the ninth World Lacrosse Championship, as it were.

We need to stop looking back on that championship though, we seem to look back on that and then say that, that is enough for us to be considered one of the worlds' best even still - although unless we can justify that with a long-run into the World Lacrosse Championship play-offs, then we cannot keep saying that we have one of the best teams' in the world. Sure, we probably have one of the best, if not the best league in the world - and so this means we should produce some great players, but unless them players can mirror that form and great play that is seen in the MCUL - in the World Championships, then it all means nothing. I mean, look at Cotdelapoms - their players play brilliantly in the MCUL - but constantly underperform on the global scene, which means they can't really get anywhere in the sport.

Wow, having read that back I sound like an old man, never mind an 18-year old lacrosse player.

Now I'll have a look at each team's chances of qualifying for the play-offs of this World Lacrosse Championship, well - each team in our group, anyway. We'll see about other teams, in other groups after we've done that.

#1 - Mytannion - 4 Played, 3-1 Record, +13 Goal Differential.
We certainly look like we're in pole-position, we've got one more win than both of our nearest challengers - Gallund and Bergnovinaia - and we've got a good defence, by the looks of it - only conceding 35 goals in 4 games. This means we've conceded around 8.75 goals per game, thus far. We've also scored 48 goals in those 4 games - 12 goals per game, sure - not as high as in the past - but even so, that's good in a group that has very similar in the goals per game department. This is in no small-part to Milo Tyrella - who has 24 goals in the four games, showing just how important he is. If he gets injured, we could well be in trouble at the moment. Anatoliy Sparwasser has also been brilliant, captaining the team brilliantly and being a true leader when out on the pitch - really inspiring th team to do well. We have at least beaten every other team in our group once, which nobody else in our group has managed as of yet.

#2 - Gallund - 4 Played, 2-2 Record, +10 Goal Differential.
Gallund look like the best-suited challengers, to the number one spot. They managed to beat us on the first matchday, and ran us extremely close yesterday. They're good offensively, scoring 47 goals in 4 games - and are nearly as good as us defensively - with 37 goals conceded in the 4 games. We're only slightly better than them according to the stats, but, they also look slightly creatively challenged - and haven't really created much in all of the games, relying on pace and power to get forward towards the opponents' goal - rather than scoring through skill and passing. They could do well, but they have to stamp out the defensive mistakes that riddle their side currently - and led to me getting the winner last night against them, late in the 4th quarter - where a defender went to pass the ball but lost it out of the back of his crosse, and easy for me to scoop up and aim on goal, and then finish.

#3 - Bergnovinaia - 4 Played, 2-2 Record, -15 Goal Differential.
Well, a team we rated quite highly a few years ago - then we learned that they weren't all that good, but more of a middling national side - just plodding through the games and hoping to get a big break back home. Lacrosse evidently isn't the biggest sport in Bergnovinaia, well, at least as not as big as we thought it was back a few years. They can't deal with pace or good passing, which is basically what we used to beat them, so there you are. When we next play them we certainly will just want more of the same, and we'll just want our defence to be as solid as it was against them, we only conceded four in the whole game and we really pressed them every time they got the ball.

#4 - Cyborg Holland - 4 Played, 1-3 Record, -8 Goal Differential.
Somehow, they have the highest goals scored in our group - even though they are bottom. It is the other column that has really affected them, though, as they've conceded 57 goals in the four games thus far. Meaning, on average, they concede 14.25 goals per game - which is way too much if they want to get out of the group. This also proves that attack isn't always the best defence. If you can cancel their attack out, you can easily beat them - which I think we can do - we'll need to, we're playing them tomorrow - and it'll be a big, big game.

STUMBLES CONTINUE

Pocono City- A crowd of 53,216 attended the Rockets World Lacrosse Championship match against Bucknia, a far cry from the 90,000 in which Empress Jessica Stadium can hold. All the empty seats can be attributed to a few factors, but the lack of interest by the general Newmanistanian public seems to be wearing on the players. Emperor Michael IV, who coached the team as a Prince before getting the ultimate crown, was well aware of the scene at the stadium. If you think that his Highness would be more concerned about other things then a lacrosse game then you are sadly mistaken, and probably forgetting that he also played for the Pocono City Capitals at one point and is thus very passionate about the sport.

“Sometimes, I have to refuse Imperial funding for an organization and that’s never an easy decision, or I have to give a leader of another nation bad news about us not really wishing to establish a trade agreement. Or I may argue with a leader about our tariffs, given that we can economically afford to keep them high. All of that I can handle, but what was thoroughly depressing was the seen at the Stadium (referencing Empress Jessica Stadium in Pocono City) this afternoon with the lacrosse. The empty seats. The lack of enthusiasm by the fans there, and an extremely lax (no pun intended) attitude of our players. It’s worn on them, and although you can be assured that if I were still coaching them that I would not be allowing that, they clearly don’t care. You know what really ticks me off about the standings? It’s not the 1-4. It’s the 49. How in the hell can they not even average 10 goals per game?”

True, that might be Emperor Michael IV, the former lacrosse attacker speaking, and you can see that defenses and goaltending have come a long way from the competitions that we played in before, and maybe that’s more of the reason for the 1-4 start: Newmanistan has not adapted to be these improvements, and it just seems that they are playing worst then they really are. Or it could be both factors: the Rockets have not adapted, and they’re really not playing well in the first place. Maybe, there is still time to right this ship and sneak into the playoffs, but at this point it seems to be about saving face. Especially after the world saw a barely half-full stadium.

[The Kytler Peninsulae]

Television coverage from Monfortia is relatively limited. The saltire-flagged nation is best known for its beef exports, and though it has registered a flicker of sporting credibility through its gridiron team, it is far from being known as a sporting superpower. Of course, The Kytler Peninsulae are some way short of even that - this is the first competition in any sport the nation has ever been involved in - but what seems to be making the difference is that these players care.

Certainly, they've been seen to care since their humiliating slip at Roddens University Field against Monfortia early in the tournament. Since then, they've beaten group favourites Delaclava, gained a revenge victory over Cotdelapoms, and were thoroughly expected to complete a hat-trick of wins with victory here. Simply put - their passion is back, particularly on defense where gaping holes were exposed in the first two games. Monfortia, clearly brimming with determination to right the wrongs of their calamitously one-sided defeat to Delaclava on the opening day, struck back with ferocity in Roddens. But on home soil, after two more defeats, they looked dejected. Their players had never been named to the world media, and frankly on the evidence of some of the attacking in particular this was probably for their own protection.

At least it looked that way after one quarter of laughably one-sided lacrosse, the 4-0 score flattering the trailing Monfortians.

Gradually, they picked up a head of steam to the point that suddenly, it looked like Team KP who didn't care again. By half-time, it was somehow 5-3. Yes, two of those shots went in off the post, but that was not the point. Team KP had only a two-goal lead against the worst team in the group. It couldn't happen again, could it? Was Margaret betraying them?

Good old-fashioned effort started to emerge from the players in the second half, and although the team looked as ragged in the third quarter as it did in the second, the lead extended to 7-4. Two more goals early in the fourth made a late Monfortian rally irrelevant to anything except goal difference, and Team KP had won 10-8 with easily their second-worst performance of the tournament.

The team coach, Contrope Prorim, did not mince his words. "I think these players thought just praying to Margaret alone would be enough today," he sighed. "You still have to go out there and play, not just pray."

A quick turnaround in fixtures now, before a sell-out crowd will fill Roddens University Field for the Delaclava game. Delaclava's defeat of Cotdelapoms in the other game in Group 8 has kept them comfortably clear in the group, one win and a whole heap of goals ahead of Team KP (who now have a one-game cushion over Cotdelapoms for the second qualifying slot). A home victory would put Delaclava under real pressure - they would have to win all three games of the third phase in Civil Citizenry to ensure that they qualified in top spot, while Team KP would also be able to secure top spot with three wins. With the group runner-up almost certain to play tournament favourites Cosumar in the second round, nobody wants to be second in the group. Not that Prorim would concede it. "Group 7 is just ridiculous," he told an interviewer asking him about this. "Even the runners-up are going to be either goal-crazy Armorgames or the defending champions Allamunnic States. Talk about a group of death to be drawn next to," he added, though it must be stressed that it has not been formally confirmed that Groups 7 and 8 are paired together in second-round fixtures. It must also be stressed that Allamunnic States do not even remotely resemble the championship-winning side of WLC 11 - proof, if proof were needed, came in their humiliating 19-8 home defeat (let that sink in for a second) to Cosumar, who remain unbeaten and seemingly unstoppable. (Hosts Civil Citizenry are the only other 5-0 team, but could only edge out Darmen 14-13 in their last match, amusingly ensuring that 2-3 Darmen retain a better goal difference than 5-0 Civil Citizenry.)

Meanwhile, it is anticipated that as many as 2,500 fans will travel from The Kytler Peninsulae to Civil Citizenry to follow the team in the remainder of the Championships, a number far higher than initially predicted at the start of the tournament. The team's likely passage to the knockout stages is seen as an explanatory factor, but some have noted that the fans face a far shorter journey than those of many teams, with Civil Citizenry being located conveniently in southern Rushmore. "Crucially," noted analyst Tomas Allinson of OQI Market Research, "Delaclava are an out-of-region team, and few of their fans are expected to travel. However, Cotdelapoms are just across the Sea of Victory from Civil Citizenry, and many thousands of fans will probably travel. Contrary to many expectations, it is possible that the game against them on matchday seven, and not the final-day showdown with Delaclava, that will be decisive to Team KP's chances of progress in this tournament."

Hello, I am Marice Matts.

Ouch, that game kinda hurt to watch. It was an absolute pounding by Armorgames. You know, I don't even think you want to hear it, thats how bad it is. But, since I am a sports reporter, I have to tell you since it is my job.

Well, Armorgames beat Tarrentum 25-15. AG has scored the most goals by far. They have scored 88, and the next closest team is Evoca with 71. Armorgames has just been scoring a ton in this WLC.

So, now for the actually game coverage.

Armorgames was just way more physical then Tarrentum. Tarrentum looked almost scared to come out and play in the second half. AG usually isn't this rough when they play, but I guessed they sensed a weakness and pounced on it.

I still can't believe they put up a 25. Like that is crazy. That might be more then anyone else has gotten in this entire tournament. There are some teams that haven't even got 30 goals in five games. We can get that in like a game and a quarter of another.

Soo, now for the goal scorers I guess. Oh, and Tarrentum does not have a roster, so they are just making my life more difficult, so I am just going to say that 5 different guys scored for them and I don't have anymore info. Okay, so now for the AG scorers.

1st quarter
Rarhael Paulik scores twice in this quarter.
Hal Abend also puts in two in the 1st.
Dane Decristoforo sends a firecracker into the back of the net. He scores once.
Moises Mcinturf also gets into the action with a goal.
Ali Lorkowski also scores twice.
After one quarter, Armorgames leads 8-2.

2nd quarter
Armand Galas decides he should start participating in the goal scoring puts three behind the goalie this quarter.
Dane Decristoforo sees Galas' three goals and scores three of his own this quarter.
Elijah Enmon scores his first goal of the year, and then goes down with an injury. Replaced by Timmy Rottinghaus.
Ed Mihok leaves his goalie position and decides to score a goal.
After one half AG leads 16-7.

3rd quarter
Armorgames does not let up this quarter with five more goals scored. This game was stating to get out of hand.
Moises Mcinturf scores three times.
And Rarhael Paulik scores four two in the third.
AG leads 21-12.

With the game pretty much over, Armorgames decides to put in like, all of their back-ups. Here is the changes:
Van Marczak comes in as goalie.
Cary Allton replaces Emanuel Gradney on defense.
Marlyn Fangman comes in for Hal Abend, Thaddeus Garoner for Armand Galas.
Carey Pullan came in for Ali Lorkowski, and Bryon Fernades came in for Rarhael Paulik.
So, literaly everybody gets to play a good amount of time in this game.
Oh yeah, now for the scorers. With the subs, Armorgames scored four goals this quarter, all by subs.

Bryon Fernades scores twice. Good for him
Timmy Rottinghaus gets a goal. He came in in the second quarter because of the injury of Elijah Enmon.
Carey Pullan also gets a goal.
AG wins 25-15.

Carmadin Thumped at hands of Vulshain

On top of their group just yesterday, team Carmadin's record fell to 3-2 yesterday after a crushing 17-7 loss to vulshain.
Said coach An as Pyatt'h "we have played well all tournament so far, and this was just a minor setback. we will be back on top of our group soon!"

Hi I'm Luka and I'm a lacrosse player. If you've read this before, you'll know that - if you haven't, you won't. But there you are, you've read it now - you now know what it is, who I am and what I do. Well, I lie actually - you don't know what this is - this is a blog about the Mytanar lacrosse team during the 12th World Lacrosse Championships, where our team is not doing as well as it could be doing.

I bet a lot of people stopped reading this blog right at that full-stop, but for you hardy few who have continued to read past the point where I tell you that we aren't doing very well - I have a lot of news in store for you. Not just any news in fact, but inside news - I'm a player you see, I can tell you what happened on the training ground, in the changing rooms and just everything that happens behind the scenes. It may not be that interesting though, we don't have as many arguments anymore - the team morale is a lot better and we are a whole lot more together than our teams have been in th past - which is all good to be honest - we don't want to have a training ground bust-up like in the past.

Anyway, we lost again - we needed to win that game damnit! Now we've got a 3-2 record, after we lost to Cyborg Holland in a game we really could not afford to lose as now Gallund have overtaken us in the standings. They won, which was bad for us as we lost - sounds stupid, no? It sounds boring, it does. Sorry, I can't spice my blogs up right now - I'm tired, very tired - we had a double training session today. It really takes it out of you, the coach truly is a madman. He works us way too hard, no wonder we lost that game eh? Aha, EXCUSE!

Anyway, they hit us with a 3-goal 4th quarter salvo - Cyborg Holland that is. Which meant they beat us, we sadly looked very creatively challenged - it looked like we could not generate a chance if we bought one. We couldn't challenge their goal - we couldn't score - which was our main problem, it meant we could not beat them, quite simply.

So yeah, we play Bergnovinaia tomorrow - and we need a win, if we don't - I fear we may well be out of this World Lacrosse Championship - barring a massive comeback - as we'll have a 3-3 record, and we'd probably need to win every game we have left to play, and with our current inconsistency - that is looking extremely unlikely.

That Sucked

After last night's game everyone agrees that it well, sucks. Camwood will play Bucknia, in Bucknia, a key game is around the corner to see what happens after the majority if the tourney is done.

But, the game against Wolfmanne sucked. it was twenty, fourteen loss. The loss is and should be blamed on defense, fourteen goals should win it, espically against a team that started on the bottom like Wolfmanne. Wolfmanne, was consist, though scoring exactly fie points each and eery quarter. Camwood scored 4 in the first 7 after two, made it 10 with a quarter left, then finished with fourteen. Camwood clearly need to raise their game. Before something else happens somewhat bad.
