This said, I was insulted when you compared atheists to Hitler and Charles Manson. It appears that you really have no right to be insulted when you cast the first metaphorical stone.
I never said that, we even just proved that Hitler thought he was Catholic and doing God's work (He wasn't, making it clear)
I only implied that someone COULD be driven to that if their religion or personal code told them to. The difference is that religion has a community and a written law that (most of the time) states if something is wrong or not.

Oooh, but you don't understand, I am forced to post in here, not by my own motives (as I don't like being badgered by you all any more than you like hearing me go on about 'my beliefs') but by an obligation to keep this an argument and not a total religion bashing thread.

Actually, what makes you think that Hitler wasn't doing God's work? Maybe God thinks that Hitler is indeed doing God's work whereas you are not; how would you know better? I don't mean to offend people offended by the Holocaust and Hitler, but since Cookish brought up Hitler, I'll use that as an example. You can substitute any Christian inside. Therefore, similarly, maybe God thinks that the Pope is not doing God's work whereas you are; how would you/the Pope know better?

If there was an smilie for total exasperation you would see it now.
There isn't a way to be sure, that's why you gotta have faith. I just try to follow the bible, and if through all those years of imperialism and the corrupt Catholic church changing it has totally changed the ideology, then I cannot possibly know, so I follow what i'm given, and God will judge me accordingly.
And I can tell you that if Hitler was doing God's work, I would much prefer to endure an eternity of unthinkable torture than accompany him in the heavens.

So you're happy to follow a text you as good as admitted could be a completely human fabrication of God's word?
Just checking. If, having looked at other options, that remains your choice, then very well. I can try and reason with you, but I cannot compel you to abandon your beliefs, nor denigrate your motivations for sticking by them.

Thank you. I really do appreciate your respectful tone.
Furious Grandmothers...I'm not changing your beliefs, you aren't changing mine, lets save our bitching and leave it at that.

Aww.....I had hope because someone on NSG changed my beliefs and I finally see how wrong I was. I totally respect religious people who are in it purely because of faith. However, when they say they also believe due to logical reasons, that's when I see a contradiction and want to point it out to them. And one of the things about logic is that when you are unsure about something, you do not believe in it, but you take a step back and figure out what is right that you can be more sure of.
Also, by bitching, do you mean that I have complained excessively? At least, that's what urban dictionary defines it as. Quote which is the line in which I bitched at you? If I see that that line was really off-limits then I do apologize.

You're right about that. You are what I would term a 'good' Christian, in that you show no interest in forcing your beliefs onto others. If only all your fellow believers could have similar outlooks...
