And then their were four. In Mt Ceabring in front of a standing room crowd of 10,000 the Marauders in hostile territory won, then came home and scored a lone goal in the Metropark but that was enough to see them through. On opening night Knightspurs was able to get a goal from Bayern, but on the road Bayern's impenetrable force held solid winning 1-0, and scoring in the extra time to advance to the semis. Real Chinchinhua lost at home, and tied away but that was not enough and Los riosa saw itself into the semifinal rounds. The final game saw league two side Kriegstrieber face New Capetown. After two straight 1-1 games and at 2-2 the Warmongers beat the Falcons on penalties and glided into the semis looking like the biggest underdogs in Taeshani history.

Los Riosa Monsters 1-1 Bayern Phoenix (1-1 agg)
Bayern Phoenix 0-0 Los Riosa Monsters (0-0 AET, 1-1 agg, 3-1 PKs)

X Island Marauders 1-0 Kriegstrieber (1-0 agg)
Kriegstrieber 1-2 X Island Marauders (1-3 agg)

In the semi-finals the Kriegstrieber dream was ended, the second division team would not be the first ever to make it to the final. The first Fadron Cup finalist decided would be the Marauders of X Island. In game one Taeshani National side member Jesse Conway scored the games lone goal, and in game two he followed with a second but was matched early by a Tammy Marquez goal. X Island midfielder Grant Micheals would make sure the Marauders would advance with a 70th minute goal that crushed the hearts of the Kriegstrieber home crowd. The second matchup saw Los Riosa and Bayern tie in the first with goals from Kurt Micheals and Teigue O'Hainnigan, and after two hours of play in Baynern penalties were needed to break the tie. The first four shots from the mark were good for Bayern, the fifth just wide, 3 hit the mark from Los Riosa the fourth just wide. Riosan captain Cotton LaPaige may forever remember his next shot. Just over the bar that sent Bayern to the final.

Bayern Phoenix 0-0 X Island Marauders (1-0 AET, 1-0 agg)

90 minutes wasn't enough in the Coliseum to decide Bayern and X Island so it went to extra time, with the second waning in extra time it looked like Penalties again for the Phoenix's but one last play remained. A corner kick. Here's the play by play.

"And just second's remain before its penalties. One last chance for the Phoenix to win this with the ref all but blowing his whistle before the corner. Williamson sets it up on the right flag. Its a nice cross. Their is bumping in the penalty area, out comes the goalie Diego to bump it but its gone over him. It falls to the ground and theres Cardona, Cardona shoots, he scores and Bayern pulls it off with just seconds to go. and the whistle is blown and the Phoenix are your first Fadron Pizza Cup Champions."

In any case it was a great match and i am entering Bayern in the Cygnus Cup.

The reorganisation of Tamarindian football has been an inspiration to Atlético, the great underachievers. 'Los Presidentos', perennial strugglers who have very little to shout about despite being the oldest club in the country and favourite of the Good Doctor, President Sunshine. Everyone's second team - and many people's first team, for they enjoy tremendous support - have had a reasonable first season in La Primera Liga and vitally, have won their first silverware after 113 years of waiting. Getting to the final was a dogged affair, with an incredible four penalty shoot-outs along the way, including three in a row from the fifth round to the semi-final. The last of them saw a famous victory over Los Mineros, themselves having a disastrous season by their own high standards, the four consecutive Nacional winners ending the season with nothing.

The first Copa final saw another surprise package with Bolivianos, having an average season in the Próximo, sneak into the final after a series of divisional match-ups, themselves providing a semi-final shock with a clear win over probable Próximo champions TTAD. The Copa was a huge event on the Tamarindian calendar and Estadio de Sol was packed for an unpredictable game. As often happens though, the game was something of an anti-climax, both teams playing a cautious game. Atlético were missing young starlet Iván Frías, the striker away on international duty, and it took a Jean Baptiste Tómas penalty late in the game to settle it for Los Presidentos.

La Copa Golden Boot: Sergio Basta (Club Malí). 11 goals including five in the first round as Malí thrashed Troyanos 9-0.
Player of the Tournament: Patricio Guillén (Atlético Misión). Nicknamed Plato, existential angst that often impedes Guillén was absent, he never lost focus in this competition.

Full Name: Club Deportivo Atlético Misión
Short Name: Atlético Misión
Nickname: Los Presidentos

Year Formed: 1898 (the oldest club in Tamarindia)
Stadium: Estadio Antiguo
Capacity: 42,000

Club Honours: Best league position - 3rd place, Liga Nacional 9; Copa 33 winners; Copa 4, 5, 8, 23, 27 runners-up
Club Legends: Thomas Cox, present TSF Director of Development. Former player & manager.

Manager: Arcadio Lamba, 47. Personality - thoughtful: A professor of the game set to bring unheard of, and to many, unwelcome, success. Everyone loves Atlético for losing.
Club Captain & Fans favourite: Rafael Costa, 28, goalkeeper. Athletic: Can drop kick a ball at one end of the pitch and catch it at the other without even a bounce.

Current Internationals:
Rafael Costa
Patricio Guillén, 24, defender (left). Unpredictable: A qualified Professor of Philosophy, a genius troubled by the futility of it all. Can go walkabout, on and off the pitch.
U21s:
Jansel Ortega, 20, Attacking Midfielder (L/R). Temperamental: Does not like cry-babies, scaredy-cats or sloths.
Iván Frías, 17, Striker. Introvert: Celebrates scoring by not celebrating

Overview
The nation's second team, partly because they are supported by our beloved leader Doctor Jimmy Sunshine, and partly because they are the big team that never wins anything. Until now. It's what everyone dreads: Atlético come good. As fanciers of underdogs, the national psyche might not cope with Los Presidentos as a footballing power.

Atlético have long been associated with Syndicatos Unidos, the office of the president, and even wear the SU crest as their club badge.

The first silverware for Atlético, La Copa 33 provided another major shock with Próximo mid-tablers Bolivianos making it to the final for the first time. Atlético were unconvincing themselves, needing three consecutive penalty shoot-outs to make it into the final.

Cygnus Cup VII

The seventh Cygnus Cup welcomes a record thirty teams from thirty associations; for the third time, a quilifying round will be played; only holders Hecia, and Dunboor FC, representatives of UICA #1-ranked Cafundéu, spared the extra two games.

Those pesky Krytenian logistics mean that for the first time, the Copa Calania winner is not represented; the Liga Calania is, however, thanks to Hecia of Starblaydia winning the previous Cygnus Cup. They're not favourites, though; that particular accolade is shared by Dunboor and Vanorian giants Raynor City United.

The seedings in full:

Seeded in First Round (with bye):
Hecia (STB)

SEASON ELEVEN: REDUX

Due to the situation in the former Jesselton (mainly it being the former Jesselton), the Liga Calania will be making the following changes for its next season.

  • The results for the aborted Season XI have been expunged from official Liga Calania records.
  • The eleven Jesseltonian teams scheduled to participate in the Liga Calania and Liga Segunda have been removed from their respective divisions, creating three spaces in the Liga Calania and eight in the Liga Segunda.
  • Jhanna City and Bradwell Saints, relegated from the Calania to the Segunda at the end of Season X, have been reprieved from relegation; in addition, Segunda fifth-placed team Norton have been promoted to the Liga Calania, adding an extra three free spaces in the Segunda.
  • Vecchio Victors and Penniton United, relegated from the Segunda to the National Divisions at the end of Season X, have been reprieved from relegation.
  • National Division champions Thackworth Rovers and Athletico Sciuntis will still be promoted to the Segunda; they will be joined by the teams finishing second through fifth in the Liga Krytenia, and second through sixth in the Liga Starblaydia, meaning Becton Supermarine, Secklow, Bromham City, Ousevale Juniors, Karak Ungor Chiefs, Phraen Palace, Nidola United, Veles, and Internashionale will participate in the Segunda next season.
  • Four teams will now be relegated from the Segunda, to be replaced by the top two teams in the Liga Krytenia and Liga Starblaydia.
  • Ashton Olympic have been elected to the Liga Tau, and Tournet Wednesday Athletic Town to the Liga Omega, creating an even number of teams in each of the national lower divisions.

In the most one-sided final in Cygnus Cup history, Dunboor FC win the competition and automatic entry into Cygnus Cup VIII, entries for which are now open.

As a reminder, associations wishing to send a club to the Cygnus Cup final must scorinate the final of their domestic cup competition, and must state that the team has been put forward to participate in the cup (in a similar way to stating UICA qualifiers). Domestic cup winners only may participate; the only exception to this rule is if the domestic cup winner is also the reigning Cygnus Cup holder, in which case the cup runners-up are eligible.

SEASON ELEVEN: PART ONE

With a new look, no Jesseltonian teams, and (unfortunately) one fewer place in the Champions' Cup, it's all go for Season 11. No, really this time.

So, let's dive right in!

Matchday 1
Some things don't change, of course; one of those is the Champion's Kick-Off, allowing Avidia United to go top - for a few hours, anyway - wih victory over Kallia United. That's quickly replaced by a four-way tie, as Corinth, Emberton Reds, Telecontarë, and the Daii all rack up 3-0 wins.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Norton
Corinthian Spirits 3-0 Bradwell Saints
Emberton Reds 3-0 Jhanna City
Foxchester Raiders 0-1 Stanton Town
Mercia Bromham 2-0 Hallad Reavers
Avidia United 2-0 Kallia United
Royal Emberton 2-0 Cedrus Soundgardia
Telecontarë 3-0 Hecia
Iskara Daii 3-0 New Cefn Albion
RCSC Northwood 1-1 Casuals Osteria

Matchday 2
Royal Emberton knock the proverbial sage and onion out of New Cefn, and the two teams go top and bottom respectively. Avidia United squeak past Hecia, whilst the Reds, Tele, and the Spirits all make it two out of two.

Results:
Bradwell Saints 1-4 Ousevale Borough
Jhanna City 1-0 Norton
Stanton Town 0-1 Corinthian Spirits
Hallad Reavers 1-2 Emberton Reds
Kallia United 1-3 Foxchester Raiders
Cedrus Soundgardia 1-1 Mercia Bromham
Hecia 2-3 Avidia United
New Cefn Albion 0-5 Royal Emberton
Casuals Osteria 1-2 Telecontarë
RCSC Northwood 2-2 Iskara Daii

Matchday 3
It's an all-Emberton top two, as the Reds hammer Cedrus, and the Royals nudge past Northwood. Avidia keep up their 100% record by beating Casuals, whilst in the marquee game at the White Tower, Telecontarë do the same with a fine victory over the Daii.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 4-1 Jhanna City
Bradwell Saints 0-0 Stanton Town
Norton 1-0 Hallad Reavers
Corinthian Spirits 0-1 Kallia United
Emberton Reds 4-0 Cedrus Soundgardia
Foxchester Raiders 2-0 Hecia
Mercia Bromham 3-1 New Cefn Albion
Avidia United 1-0 Casuals Osteria
Royal Emberton 3-2 RCSC Northwood
Telecontarë 2-0 Iskara Daii

Matchday 4
Vanorian ownership is clearly doing good for the elves. A 2-1 win over Royal Emberton, and tey're now the only team with a 100% record. Mercia and Avidia lead the chasing pack, whilst Hecia's season is still stuck in neutral, the loss to Corinthian Spirits being their fourth on the bounce.

Results:
Stanton Town 1-1 Ousevale Borough
Hallad Reavers 0-1 Jhanna City
Kallia United 1-0 Bradwell Saints
Cedrus Soundgardia 1-1 Norton
Hecia 0-1 Corinthian Spirits
New Cefn Albion 2-1 Emberton Reds
Casuals Osteria 0-2 Foxchester Raiders
RCSC Northwood 1-2 Mercia Bromham
Iskara Daii 1-1 Avidia United
Telecontarë 2-1 Royal Emberton

Matchday 5
The top two meet at the Cygnus; the resulting draw means they are no longer the top two, as Avidia thrash the Royals and go top of the pile. Hallad's unexpected draw against Ousevale, meanwhile, leaves former Cygnus Cup winners Hecia as the only team in the Liga without a single point in five games.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Hallad Reavers
Stanton Town 2-0 Kallia United
Jhanna City 2-1 Cedrus Soundgardia
Bradwell Saints 3-2 Hecia
Norton 0-2 New Cefn Albion
Corinthian Spirits 3-0 Casuals Osteria
Emberton Reds 2-5 RCSC Northwood
Foxchester Raiders 4-3 Iskara Daii
Mercia Bromham 1-1 Telecontarë
Avidia United 4-0 Royal Emberton

Matchday 6
Avidia and Telecontarë still keep it neck-and-neck at the top; Foxchester, meanwhile, are keeping pace well. Royal Emberton are the latest side to fall foul of the Raiders.

At the other end, Hecia draw with Stanton and consign Hallad to bottom spot.

Results:
Kallia United 1-2 Ousevale Borough
Cedrus Soundgardia 3-0 Hallad Reavers
Hecia 1-1 Stanton Town
New Cefn Albion 2-1 Jhanna City
Casuals Osteria 3-0 Bradwell Saints
RCSC Northwood 1-1 Norton
Iskara Daii 2-0 Corinthian Spirits
Telecontarë 2-0 Emberton Reds
Royal Emberton 1-3 Foxchester Raiders
Avidia United 3-1 Mercia Bromham

Copa Calania Round One
Forty eight teams from the National Divisions fought over a chance to meet the big guns; Malta Lines were uncharacteristically Takilan in their elimination of Paricone Athletic, albeit after a replay.

Quinton City 0-2 Aigburth Athletic
Camberley Town 2-1 Tournet Nicks
Notegia Rangers 0-4 Tribe Urjali

Matchday 7
Telecontarë surprisingly come unstuck against Norton, and with Foxchester also losing, Avidia go three clear at the top of the table. Game of the day, meanwhile, is the entertaining goalfest served up between Jhanna City and RCSC Northwood.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 4-1 Cedrus Soundgardia
Kallia United 1-1 Hecia
Hallad Reavers 1-1 New Cefn Albion
Stanton Town 1-2 Casuals Osteria
Jhanna City 3-6 RCSC Northwood
Bradwell Saints 0-1 Iskara Daii
Norton 1-0 Telecontarë
Corinthian Spirits 3-0 Royal Emberton
Emberton Reds 1-2 Avidia United
Foxchester Raiders 1-2 Mercia Bromham

Matchday 8
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new record!

Avidia United go completely postal on Norton, hitting the hapless greens for eleven. Telecontarë stay second with a win over Jhanna City, whilst Ousevale slip out of the TQCC places with a surprise defeat to Hecia.

Results:
Hecia 5-2 Ousevale Borough
New Cefn Albion 1-0 Cedrus Soundgardia
Casuals Osteria 2-1 Kallia United
RCSC Northwood 2-0 Hallad Reavers
Iskara Daii 1-1 Stanton Town
Telecontarë 2-0 Jhanna City
Royal Emberton 2-0 Bradwell Saints
Avidia United 11-0 Norton
Mercia Bromham 1-0 Corinthian Spirits
Foxchester Raiders 3-1 Emberton Reds

Matchday 9
It's wins all round for the top four, meaning Avidia are still three clear at the top; it's not got any better for Norton, either, as they ship five at home to Foxchester. Emberton Reds, meanwhile, are having a torrid time of it; a 0-0 against Corinth keeps them in a lowly thirteenth place.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 3-2 New Cefn Albion
Hecia 1-2 Casuals Osteria
Cedrus Soundgardia 0-2 RCSC Northwood
Kallia United 1-3 Iskara Daii
Hallad Reavers 0-3 Telecontarë
Stanton Town 2-3 Royal Emberton
Jhanna City 0-2 Avidia United
Bradwell Saints 0-4 Mercia Bromham
Norton 0-5 Foxchester Raiders
Corinthian Spirits 0-0 Emberton Reds

Matchday 10
What the hell, Hallad?

Just when you thought it was getting predictable, the bottom-placed Reavers steal a point away from leaders Avidia, and the pack closes with wins for Telecontarë and Foxchester. Mercia, though, lose ground after an unexpected home defeat to Stanton.

Results:
Casuals Osteria 2-0 Ousevale Borough
RCSC Northwood 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Iskara Daii 0-0 Hecia
Telecontarë 2-0 Cedrus Soundgardia
Royal Emberton 2-0 Kallia United
Avidia United 2-2 Hallad Reavers
Mercia Bromham 1-2 Stanton Town
Foxchester Raiders 4-2 Jhanna City
Emberton Reds 1-1 Bradwell Saints
Corinthian Spirits 2-1 Norton

The Astograthian Football League: Season VII Preview

It's that time of the year again, and as everyone gets ready for the seventh season of Astograthian football, the first to feature 16 teams in the top flight, let's go over the transfers and take a look at how the First Division teams prepare for their biggest challenge yet.

International Transfers - In
- Danek Badjkev (Mytannion) from Miago City to South Factory
- Victor Brexio (Erathore) from Scion FC to Sporting Iturributa
- Didi (Cafundéu) signed as a free agent by Sporting Iturributa
- Tipi Nanklares returned to Iturributa United after a loan spell at Drogba FC (Erathore)
- Bernard Ouellette (Cotdelapoms) signed as a free agent by Sporting Iturributa
- Wilson Prieto (Cafundéu) from Petardos S/A to Royal Rumiatzi
- Fabián Taggliafico (Seleucius) from CA San Isidro to Ituraitz FC

In a transfer window dominated by the big teams, South Factory secured the services of Mytanar striker Danek Badjkev to accompany last season's revelation forward Itzaina Erreka. Meanwhile, Ituraitz FC imported the first Seleucid player in the league in the form of national teamer Fabián Taggliafico to cover up Soter Sarlange's departure, and Iturributa United limited themselves to bringing back the promising Nanklares from the Erathi league. From that nation's Serie-B comes top scorer Victor Brexio, signed by Sporting Iturributa in an effort to expand beyond having a solid back four.
In that same vein was the headline-grabbing transfer of the Cafundelense Didi, who competed in World Cup 51 and despite his age is still renowned for his deadly finish and provocative manner. To round off their venture into the market, Sporting have brought in Cotdelapomais defensive midfielder Bernard Ouellette. Always craving attention and not wanting to be left behind, Royal Rumiatzi announced the purchase of attacking midfielder Wilson Prieto from giants Petardos S/A in a move that has divided fans, as it means the iconic Iban Balinaga will be spending the last season of his career on the bench.

International Transfers - Out
- Lapurdi Abaitua from Ituraitz FC to FC Cape Saint Paul (Polar Islandstates)
- Munio Baranzano from Iturributa United to Eastern Chase (Civil Citizenry)
- Urgutz Belarte signed as a free agent by Atlético Central (Cafundéu)
- Eneko Dicharry from Ituraitz Victory to Worcester Hearts (Cotdelapoms)
- Agoztar Gorstiaga from Iturributa United to Zhevassi (Kagdazka & Pazhujebu)
- Eusko Kuruchet from Royal Association to Al Haxire (Taeshan)
- Churio Muniya from Echegoyan FC to Astria Yaburi (Erathore)
- Elatzar Orbizo from Sporting Iturributa to Yastrabi (Kagdazka & Pazhujebu)
- Soter Sarlange from Ituraitz FC to CR Submiria (Cafundéu)
- Artzeiz Zornoza from Freedom FC to Marinos Metropolis (Valladares)

An unprecedented amount of players left the league this time around, for various reasons. Keepers Abaitua and Muniya search for a challenge in Divisjon One and Serie-A respectively, while Baranzano looks to recover his lost form in neighbour country Civil Citizenry and Dicharry hopes to settle down for good at Série A's Worcester Hearts. Gorstiaga, a key player for Astograth at Di Bradini Cup 18 despite only being 17, has signed for Pazhujeb giants Zhevassi upon reaching adulthood. He'll be following national team right-back Elatzar Orbizo, who has already played a season at Yastrabi.
The skillful Urgutz Belarte, having spent the past three seasons at Albundania's Arskanskigrad United, has signed for Cafundelense side Atlético Central, and joining him at the Primeirona will be Astograth's star striker Soter Sarlange, sold at a high price to CR Submiria. Elsewhere, the young Eusko Kuruchet will try to carve himself a place in the up-and-coming league of Taeshan, while Artzeiz Zornoza's goalscoring prowess in Second Division has made him the first Astograthian to play in Valladares following his transfer to Marinos Metropolis.

First Division (Taldo Lehan)

ImageImage
Iturributa United
Hometown: Iturributa
Ground: Old City Stadium (72,000)
Honours: 2 Leagues, 2 Royal Cups, 2 Ides of March Cups
Manager: Aiza Sein
Lineup: Edorta Sakona (C); Yuango Mendiola, Svennis Moller, Iturri Aginaga, Bayardo Agerre; Zuzen Barta, Petter Bielsen, Lorenzo Gianluigi, Estebe Bularte; Tipi Nanklares, Salum Merec
Season VI: Champions
Notes: United have never enjoyed such a spell of domination before, and they look set to continue this season. Such fluid offensive play has never been seen in these parts, and following a stellar run in international competitions that saw them reach the Champions' Cup group stages and then the Globe Cup knockout rounds it is expected they will face little opposition in retaining their title. Their favouritism is even more pronounced once it's taken into account that they've recovered Nanklares and have brought in Wanderers' top scorer, the Mytanar Salum Merec.
Prediction: 1st, no doubts about it.

ImageImage
Royal Rumiatzi
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: Knights' Stadium (70,000)
Honours: 3 Leagues, 1 Royal Cup
Manager: Erruki Abaroa
Lineup: Cheru Larretape; Lordi Atzpiri, Ubelteso Adin, Silban Galindo (C), Gaizkine Oteiza; Egoitz Malgor, Aberri Elizalde, Bartosz Slusarski, Wilson Prieto; Kolya Tchailharovic, Peli Echetore
Season VI: 2nd
Notes: Royal Rumiatzi is a demanding team. The most popular in the country in a love it or hate it kind of way, the club is the royal family's favourite and is under constant pressure to excel. Unfortunately, things haven't been going their way for several seasons now and they're starting to get rather desperate. Prieto and Slusarski, for all their quality, can't be reasonably expected to carry the team in attack through an entire season, and the Cafundelense's arrival has already caused division amongst fans and players before the first ball is kicked.
Prediction: Haven't solved last season's underlying problems. 3rd.

ImageImage
Sporting Iturributa
Hometown: Iturributa
Ground: Old City Stadium (72,000)
Honours: 1 Royal Cup
Manager: Egoi Azarola
Lineup: Zernin Aira (C); Otz Irisarri, Erramun Echebarria, Sotil Burruchaga, Eneko Dorregaray; Gartzi Oramuno, Bernard Ouellette, Gito Pizan, Lartaun Zomoza; Victor Brexio, Didi
Season VI: 3rd
Notes: Determined to win the league once and for all, United's bitter rivals have dug deep in their pockets to build a strong team. Following the retirement of striker and captain Endira Berrioz, national team goalkeeper Aira has been appointed as skipper and the attacking duo of Brexio and Didi will be in charge of scoring. Wanderers' Dorregaray has been brought in to cover for Elatzar Orbizo's departure, and Bernard Ouellette brings his experience to the midfield.
Prediction: Are making a visible effort, but can't be expected to challenge United. 2nd.

ImageImage
Ituraitz FC
Hometown: Ituraitz
Ground: Ituraitz Sporting Ground (63,000)
Honours: 1 League, 1 Royal Cup
Manager: Domeka Iriarte
Lineup: Astigar Barrueta; Odon Karrikart, Milian Erburu (C), Bakar Gandiaga, Kenny Lazr; Lukar Mendikoa, Artzeiz Uhalt, Urdaspal Treto, Egerdi Bordato; Fabián Taggliafico, Intza Basurto
Season VI: 4th
Notes: Ituraitz have been disappointing in recent years, with increasingly mediocre performances saved only by Erburu's excellent leadership and Soter Sarlange's raw goalscoring ability. With the latter now missing and Taggliafico not being half as good, things aren't looking too bright for Gorriaka.
Prediction: Sarlange was the driving force behind Ituraitz, his departure is too big of a blow. 5th.

ImageImage
South Factory
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: The Foundry (35,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Berbiz Munduarte
Lineup: Yokin Urrizola; Gorri Mendizko, Ixona Ertze, Iban Larramendi, Beat Irisarri; Leheren Berkara, Sandaili Osinalde, Kasen Bastegieta, Berbiz Kabia (C); Danek Badjkev, Itzaina Erreka
Season VI: 5th
Notes: South Factory is one of Rumiatzi's three big teams, but on a national scale is usually considered a minnow. Last season, though, they achieved an impressive fifth place finish largely thanks to Itzaina Erreka, a youngster cast out of Royal Rumiatzi and now turned into a goal machine. With him now pairing up with Mytannion's Danek Badjkev, South Factory has never been in such a good position to challenge for Globe Cup qualification.
Prediction: An exciting team for sure, and well placed to take advantage of Ituraitz FC's situation. 4th.

ImageImage
Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: Gotorlekua (42,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Loitzun Orrigarai
Lineup: Aritzeder Guridi; Uzuri Euleche, Oroitz Garza, Axular Arana, Oihan Sarria; Hotz Ayo, Oskitz Gerrikabeitia, Froila Zuleta; Oxel Teyeria, Remir Oxanguren (C), Sein Lorda
Season VI: 6th
Notes: Athletic Club Rumiatzi has made itself comfortable in First Division since they were promoted two years ago, but lack the strength to really challenge for anything. The continuous sale of their best players doesn't help either.
Prediction: Can't see them achieving anything. 8th.

ImageImage
Urbizania Wanderers
Hometown: Urbizania
Ground: Cherketzo Arena (30,500)
Honours: None
Manager: Xuban Barrutia
Lineup: Kiliz Carrere (C); Ametz Ipagirre, Itziar Amiso, Sotil Echeberry, Silban Karranza; Ametz Soraiz, Alarabi Lauzirika, Soter Larreaga, Alexei Razov; Hurko Atristain, Xanti Miner
Season VI: 7th
Notes: Wanderers is one of the strongest teams outside of the 'Big 4', having even competed in the Globe Cup once. They suffered an unexpected slump in their performance last season, finishing 7th, but even though they've lost striker Salum Merec to Iturributa United, they recieved the accomplished Xanti Miner in return and look set to improve.
Prediction: Should recover and climb the table slightly. 6th.

ImageImage
Iturributa Racing Club
Hometown: Iturributa
Ground: The Hippodrome (16,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Alar Martikorena
Lineup: Urtzin Sagasti; Atseden Echebarne, Hegoi Treto, Leheren Arrexe, Auxkin Berraza; Eneko Maruri, Froila Zabala, Ametza Sarria, Yelchu Xaparrarte (C); Meabe Bastida, Erlantz Goitia
Season VI: 8th
Notes: Iturributa Racing Club achieved an impressive 8th place finish in their first season in the top flight, whether or not it was a fluke is yet to be seen. Either way, the Racing Club Derby against their Garitzeta peers is sure to liven up the season.
Prediction: The team looks solid, but unlikely to improve. 9th.

ImageImage
Ituraitz Victory
Hometown: Ituraitz
Ground: Ituraitz Sporting Ground (63,000)
Honours: 1 Royal Cup
Manager: Iaki Urrutia
Lineup: Aurken Krestia; Zunbeltz Darraidou, Mikelar Loidi, Yelchu Basagoitia, Benat Uranga; Bikendi Irungarai, Sein Zamarripa, Zeru Egania, Otz Lasuen, Iratze Zarazua (C); Sergei Frank
Season VI: 9th
Notes: Victory surprised everyone by beating United in last season's Royal Cup final, and with such exciting players as Benat Uranga, Otz Lasuen and the Polarian Sergei Frank it is odd that they performed so unspectacularly in the league. Hopefully, they will replicate their cup success in a season-long fashion.
Prediction: Can aim higher on the back of their Cup win. 7th.

ImageImage
Astograth University
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: Arritzola (11,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Mikelatz Mendialde
Lineup: Gilamu Izagirre (C); Alatz Iturriza, Luken Zuleta, Goizeden Mendizabal, Erlantz Izagirre; Ion Arreta, Diagur Lizarraga, Burutzagi Lizaran, Arrats Goenaga; Aitor Uloikar, Alotz Errazti
Season VI: 10th
Notes: Modest team from the capital that has wallowed in the mid-table for several seasons now, mainly due to their signing of former United and national team striker Aitor Uloikar. Lacking in funding, infrastructure and fanbase, Manager Mendialde nevertheless works wonders.
Prediction: Needs drastic changes to challenge for anything. 12th.

ImageImage
Blue Mountain Range
Hometown: Echegoyan
Ground: Ximun Orieta Sporting Ground (34,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Bizi Boutayre
Lineup: Anaut Urrestilla; Erramu Labarde, Galimu Otzoa, Tipi Arregi, Elorri Zaldibar (C), Artizar Medrano; Yuaneizu Meiabe, Matai Muguruza, Betadur Goenaga, Oskitz Gaubeka; Urtatz Soreasu
Season VI: 11th
Notes: Accustomed to promotion and relegation, Blue Mountain Range relies on a defense of five men and one solitary, reliable striker, which means their goals for stat is up there with the league bottom-feeders and their goals against up there with the champions.
Prediction: However slowly, they're improving. 10th.

ImageImage
Royal Association
Hometown: Iturributa
Ground: Unity Stadium (33,500)
Honours: None
Manager: Marin Garza
Lineup: Baraxil Ertze; Teyo Uriaga, Nabar Achabal, Aratz Beobide, Adon Arranz; Ruisko Zaldinbar, Oroitz Euleche, Loramendi Lanziego, Aitzol Inzunza, Bayardo Morriyas (C); Seber Gerrikagoitia, Etor Araiko
Season VI: 12th
Notes: Royal Association. A classic team. A controversial team. In a city that wishes it were independent, this club caters to the monarchists. Anyways, Association has been on the edge of relegation since their promotion some seasons back, and it looks like they're going back down this time. Bayardo Morriyas, former national team player, will do his best to keep his team afloat in his final season before retirement, but it looks unlikely.
Prediction: This ship has been sinking for some time now. 14th.

ImageImage
The Army Club
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: 18th March Stadium (21,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Arnaitz Basagoitia
Lineup: Balesio Lanziego; Zuzen Ytuarte, Petri Urdanibia, Oinaz Idiakez, Adon Echazarreta; Peli Aroix, Zeruko Echegarai (C), Zilar Sarasua; Sendoa Irigiben, Yokin Achabal, Lusea Basanez
Season VI: 1st in Second Division
Notes: Another controversial team, this one is obviously linked to the army and less obviously to Aitor III and his brutal repression of all non-Rumiatzi. They've been narrowly missing out on promotion for years, but are now free to unleash their risky 4-3-3 formation upon the First Division.
Prediction: Assuming they maintain their recent form, they should do well enough. 11th.

ImageImage
Freedom FC
Hometown: Iturributa
Ground: Lon Biteri Stadium (12,000)
Honours: None
Manager: Mayorga Achaga
Lineup: Urgutz Narbitz; Kaxen Aurrekochea, Inguma Eskarzaga, Argi Baskaran, Aketza Zozaya; Marchot Orzaiz, Auxkin Eyeralde, Gaizkine Zendegi, Lartaun Achaga; Bayona Mendizabal (C), Emenon Boneta
Season VI: 2nd in Second Division
Notes: Promotion, relegation and now promotion again is this yo-yo club's story, who have brought in several new players in the wake of Artzeiz Zornoza's transfer to the Valladar Super League. Nonetheless, they'll be fighting to remain in the top flight in direct conflict with their mortal enemies Royal Association.
Prediction: They can avoid relegation, but narrowly. 13th.

ImageImage
Lermendia FC
Hometown: Lermendia
Ground: Itzarak Sporting Ground (15,450)
Honours: None
Manager: Arkaitz Goyenola
Lineup: Herensuge Gorstiaga; Uhin Axeritogarai, Baleren Aresti, Eate Bastida, Laen Urkiza; Remir Elgezabal, Alots Aiza, Eusko Lachondo, Zeru Dolagaray; Aitzol Lekunberri, Baiona Lizarraga (C)
Season VI: 3rd in Second Division
Notes: From the under-represented, rural east of Astograth comes the modest Lermendia FC, making their debut in First Division almost directly from Third, having played only one season in the second tier. Manager Arkaitz Goyenola is the mastermind behind this meteoric rise, but staying at the top looks unlikely.
Prediction: Can't see them staying up. 15th.

ImageImage
Garitzeta Racing Club
Hometown: Garitzeta
Ground: Letatzadur Stadium (16,300)
Honours: None
Manager: Egun Arbizu
Lineup: Urre Atela; Lekuberi Urioste, Alaon Iturrioz, Anakoz Arbizu, Arketza Ziganda (C); Osoitz Artechebarria, Bladi Ytuarte, Urrai Gangoiti, Otsoko Egues; Indartsu Ureta, Gaizkine Aberasturi
Season VI: 4th in Second Division
Notes: From Iturributa's neighbour city, this Racing Club is looking to make as much of an impact as its rival. Which is to say, not much, and looking over their squad they don't seem to have enough to do even that.
Prediction: It was fun while it lasted. 16th.

It's wins all round in the top four, so no change in the order; Mercia put some daylight between themselves and fifth place, though, as Ousevale lose to the Daii. Copa Calania Round Two
The big guns enter - and shocks duly follow. Hecia's loss to Tabeck, and Norton crashing out to CF Avides, though, were just the hors d'œuvres. The main course was served up at the New City Stadium, where Avidia United crashed out to Sporting Salicus of the Liga Starblaydia. It could have been worse for the Liga, though; Mercia, Foxchester, and Iskara Daii all advanced only at the second attempt, being held by Caversham, Basian Valley, and Beckton Supermarine respectively.

Results:
Hecia 0-1 Tabeck FC
Ousevale Juniors 1-4 Cedrus Soundgardia

Iskara Daii 2-0 Beckton Supermarine
Basian Valley 0-2 Foxchester Raiders

Matchday 13
Avidia recover from their Copa Calania embarrassment with a hard-fought win over Northwood. Telecontarë, though, lose a little more ground on the top two, as they're held to a draw by Ousevale.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Telecontarë
Iskara Daii 3-2 Royal Emberton
RCSC Northwood 1-2 Avidia United
Casuals Osteria 1-1 Mercia Bromham
New Cefn Albion 1-4 Foxchester Raiders

Cedrus Soundgardia 0-1 Corinthian Spirits
Kallia United 1-0 Norton
Hallad Reavers 2-1 Bradwell Saints
Stanton Town 1-2 Jhanna City

Matchday 14
Telecontarë do themselves - and the world - a favour by finally breaking Avidia's unbeaten run with a fine away win. Not only that, but the Raiders lose as well, closing things right up at the top. At the Cygnus Stadium, meanwhile, heavyweights Mercia and Iskara slug out a thrilling four-all draw.

Results:
Royal Emberton 3-1 Ousevale Borough
Avidia United 0-1 Telecontarë
Mercia Bromham 4-4 Iskara Daii
Foxchester Raiders 0-2 RCSC Northwood
Emberton Reds 1-2 Casuals Osteria

Norton 1-4 Hecia
Bradwell Saints 0-1 Cedrus Soundgardia
Jhanna City 1-1 Kallia United
Stanton Town 2-1 Hallad Reavers

Matchday 15
It's Ousevale's turn to deny the league leaders some points, and Avidia's grip on top spot is now a fragile one. In the second v third tussle, Foxchester come out on top, and Avidia lead the table only on goal difference.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Avidia United
Royal Emberton 0-1 Mercia Bromham

Matchday 16
It's top against second...and the winner is the team in third spot. Foxchester and Avidia hack out a 1-1 draw, allowing Tele to close the gap.

Opening the gap (of sorts), meanwhile, are Royal Emberton, crushing the Reds 5-2 in the Emberton derby.

Results:
Mercia Bromham 1-2 Ousevale Borough
Foxchester Raiders 1-1 Avidia United
Emberton Reds 2-5 Royal Emberton
Corinthian Spirits 2-3 Telecontarë

Jhanna City 2-4 Casuals Osteria
Stanton Town 1-1 New Cefn Albion
Hallad Reavers 1-2 Hecia
Kallia United 1-2 Cedrus Soundgardia

Matchday 17
The top two are still nigh-on inseperable, Telecontarë are still chasing hard behind - and Corinth were the only side in the top seven not to win. Mainly becasue they lost to Avidia.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 1-2 Foxchester Raiders
Mercia Bromham 2-0 Emberton Reds
Avidia United 1-0 Corinthian Spirits
Royal Emberton 2-0 Norton
Telecontarë 2-1 Bradwell Saints
Iskara Daii 5-0 Jhanna City
RCSC Northwood 2-0 Stanton Town
Casuals Osteria 1-1 Hallad Reavers
New Cefn Albion 1-1 Kallia United
Hecia 3-0 Cedrus Soundgardia

Matchday 18
In the game of top-three chicken, someone had to blink. As it turns out, that was Foxchester, losing to Corinthian Spirits and dropping to third. Behind them, it's Iskara back in the top four, taking advantage of Mercia's surprise nul points against Norton.

Results:
Emberton Reds 1-1 Ousevale Borough
Corinthian Spirits 2-1 Foxchester Raiders
Norton 2-1 Mercia Bromham
Bradwell Saints 1-2 Avidia United
Jhanna City 2-3 Royal Emberton
Stanton Town 0-1 Telecontarë
Hallad Reavers 1-2 Iskara Daii
Kallia United 0-0 RCSC Northwood
Cedrus Soundgardia 0-2 Casuals Osteria
Hecia 0-3 New Cefn Albion

Copa Calania Round Three
Athletico are at it again, downing New Cefn in a replay, and NSE Kovenham join them in the shocks market by downing Kallia. It's also goodbye to Ousevale, Iskara Daii, and Emberton Reds, though at least these sides had the common decency to go out to opposition from the same division.

Results:
Penningworth United 2-0 Karak Ungor Chiefs
NSE Kovenham 1-0 Kallia United
Corinthian Spirits 1-1 Ousevale Borough
Telecontarë 1-0 Emberton Reds
Foxchester Raiders 3-0 Aigburth Athletic
New Cefn Albion 2-2 Athletico Sciuntis
Beverington Hawks 3-0 Camberley Town
Hallad Reavers 4-2 Hippion Heartland
Vecchio Victors 1-0 Sporting Salicus
Phraen Palace 3-2 Viculus Miners
Iskara Daii 0-0 Casuals Osteria
Snowcroft City 2-3 Nidola United
Royal Emberton 4-2 Port Cythera
Tabeck FC 2-3 Mercia Bromham
Malta Lines 0-1 Cedrus Soundgardia
Oustia 0-3 CF Avides

Replays:
Ousevale Borough 0-1 Corinthian Spirits
Athletico Sciuntis 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Casuals Osteria 3-0 Iskara Daii

Matchday 19
Foxchester can only draw with lowly Bradwell, and it's a bit of a gap to the top two once again. Not that we were watching; our eyes were on Foundation Road, where the Daii and Cedrus served up a ding-dong 7-4 thriller.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 2-2 Corinthian Spirits
Emberton Reds 2-1 Norton
Foxchester Raiders 2-2 Bradwell Saints
Mercia Bromham 2-1 Jhanna City
Avidia United 2-1 Stanton Town
Royal Emberton 5-1 Hallad Reavers
Telecontarë 1-0 Kallia United
Iskara Daii 7-4 Cedrus Soundgardia
RCSC Northwood 1-3 Hecia
Casuals Osteria 4-0 New Cefn Albion

The Astograthian Football League: Season VII (Part 1)

Now featuring 16 teams, the Astograthian First Division is as hotly contested as ever. Let's take a look at the first ten matchdays.

Matchday 1
Iturributa United 3–0 Lermendia FC
Royal Rumiatzi 0–1 Garitzeta Racing Club
Sporting Iturributa 2–0 Freedom FC
Ituraitz FC 3–2 Royal Association
Urbizania Wanderers 2–1 The Army Club
South Factory 3–0 Astograth University
Ituraitz Victory 0–0 Iturributa Racing Club
Athletic Club Rumiatzi 3–1 Blue Mountain Range

United got off to a great start with a comfortable home win over newcomers Lermendia, as did South Factory by trouncing Astograth University. Ituraitz had trouble beating Royal Association in a very close encounter, but the real shock of the first matchday was Garitzeta Racing Club, tipped for relegation, beating Royal Rumiatzi at Knights' Stadium! Snapped out of their pre-season fantasy, it's clear they have a lot to work on.

Matchday 2
Lermendia FC 2–2 Blue Mountain Range
Iturributa Racing Club 5–4 Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Astograth University 2–2 Ituraitz Victory
The Army Club 0–3 South Factory
Royal Association 1–4 Urbizania Wanderers
Freedom FC 3–2 Ituraitz FC
Garitzeta Racing Club 0–2 Sporting Iturributa
Iturributa United 0–1 Royal Rumiatzi

...or perhaps not, as Rumiatzi came away with a priceless win over United in another edition of their derby, and in Iturributa too! Wilson Prieto was the hero, scoring his first goal and silencing many who doubted his skill. Elsewhere, Ituraitz once again demonstrated a lack of quality as they fell to Freedom FC, and Iturributa Racing Club's 5-4 win over Athletic was a real treat for spectators if not for the goalkeepers.

Matchday 3
Royal Rumiatzi 5–2 Lermendia FC
Sporting Iturributa 3–2 Iturributa United
Ituraitz FC 0–0 Garitzeta Racing Club
Urbizania Wanderers 0–0 Freedom FC
South Factory 2–1 Royal Association
Ituraitz Victory 1–0 The Army Club
Athletic Club Rumiatzi 3–3 Astograth University
Blue Mountain Range 3–0 Iturributa Racing Club

Lermendia FC continued in their role of whipping boys as they fell by three goals to Royal Rumiatzi, meanwhile Ituraitz FC continued to disappoint in a scoreless draw against Garitzeta Racing Club. South Factory are, surprisingly, top of the table with three straight wins after overcoming Association, a place they share with Sporting Iturributa. The Chevrons won the Iturributa Derby in style, their comeback orchestrated by strikers Didi and Victor Brexio, who are quickly earning the fans' love. Also of note was Urtatz Soreasu's hat-trick in Blue Mountain Range's 3-0 win.

Matchday 4
Lermendia FC 1–3 Iturributa Racing Club
Astograth University 0–2 Blue Mountain Range
The Army Club 4–2 Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Royal Association 0–3 Ituraitz Victory
Freedom FC 1–3 South Factory
Garitzeta Racing Club 1–0 Urbizania Wanderers
Iturributa United 1–3 Ituraitz FC
Royal Rumiatzi 5–2 Sporting Iturributa

South Factory took point on this matchday due to another win and the goalfest that was the derby between Royal Rumiatzi and Sporting Iturributa. In another match between top teams, Ituraitz took a much needed win from Old City Stadium to United's disbelief. They sit twelfth, and the 'best team ever' seems to be doing nothing right. And amazingly, Garitzeta Racing Club continue their good run with a win over Wanderers, securing fifth place in the table and embarassing many a journalist.

Matchday 5
Sporting Iturributa 0–0 Lermendia FC
Ituraitz FC 0–1 Royal Rumiatzi
Urbizania Wanderers 0–2 Iturributa United
South Factory 1–1 Garitzeta Racing Club
Ituraitz Victory 4–2 Freedom FC
Athletic Club Rumiatzi 4–3 Royal Association
Blue Mountain Range 1–3 The Army Club
Iturributa Racing Club 0–0 Astograth University

Sporting were disappointed to earn only a draw against the poor Lermendia, who along with Astograth University and Royal Association is yet to win a match. Association has not, in fact, earned so much as a measly point, and relegation has never looked so likely. On the other end of the table, Rumiatzi narrow down the difference with South Factory following a decisive win over Ituraitz and Factory's draw with the surprising Garitzeta Racing Club. Ituraitz Victory, after beating Freedom FC, is now third and definitely looks revitalized by their Royal Cup triumph. United, despite their decidedly superior performance this matchday, remain in eleventh place and have their work cut out for them if they hope to retain.

Royal Cup Round of 64
The new edition of the Royal Cup is underway with an unprecedented 64 teams! Aside from the 52 teams from First, Second and Third Divisions, 12 amateur teams have been invited. Additionally, the away goals rule from seasons past has been done away with.

Matchday 6
Lermendia FC 2–0 Astograth University
The Army Club 1–0 Iturributa Racing Club
Royal Association 0–3 Blue Mountain Range
Freedom FC 3–5 Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Garitzeta Racing Club 2–5 Ituraitz Victory
Iturributa United 2–1 South Factory
Royal Rumiatzi 2–0 Urbizania Wanderers
Sporting Iturributa 2–3 Ituraitz FC

Royal Rumiatzi relieved South Factory of the lead on the sixth matchday with the comfortable pummeling of Wanderers, who are apparently feeling the loss of Salum Merec a bit more than expected. Association continue their winless streak as Blue Mountain Range record yet another uncharacteristic big win. It's also worth noting that Athletic Club Rumiatzi's offensive vocation seems to have been turned up a notch this season, with 21(!) goals for and 19 against in just 6 matches.

Matchday 7
Ituraitz FC 5–1 Lermendia FC
Urbizania Wanderers 0–1 Sporting Iturributa
South Factory 2–1 Royal Rumiatzi
Ituraitz Victory 2–2 Iturributa United
Athletic Club Rumiatzi 1–2 Garitzeta Racing Club
Blue Mountain Range 2–1 Freedom FC
Iturributa Racing Club 5–5 Royal Association
Astograth University 1–1 The Army Club

And Association finally earned their first point of the season...in a ridiculous 5-5 draw with Iturributa Racing Club. There was also high-scoring action at the Ituraitz Sporting Ground, with FC's trouncing of Lermendia and Victory's draw with United. Enough for the blues to seize second place following the key fixture for this matchday: South Factory vs. Royal Rumiatzi. In a close encounter between the capital teams, Factory ran out the winner and is once more poised atop the league.

Matchday 8
Lermendia FC 0–1 The Army Club
Royal Association 3–2 Astograth University
Freedom FC 0–0 Iturributa Racing Club
Garitzeta Racing Club 0–1 Blue Mountain Range
Iturributa United 2–2 Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Royal Rumiatzi 1–1 Ituraitz Victory
Sporting Iturributa 2–2 South Factory
Ituraitz FC 3–3 Urbizania Wanderers

Iturributa United is a shadow of last season's team. Star-studded, yet ninth. Disappointing to say the least, and their draw with Athletic leaves only a bitter taste in the fans' mouths. Apparently draws were in fashion this weekend, as we saw everything from a bore 0-0 between two unmotivated sides to a sizzling hot 3-3 between two squads determined to improve upon their dysmal starts.

Matchday 9
Urbizania Wanderers 2–0 Lermendia FC
South Factory 2–1 Ituraitz FC
Ituraitz Victory 1–2 Sporting Iturributa
Athletic Club Rumiatzi 3–3 Royal Rumiatzi
Blue Mountain Range 0–0 Iturributa United
Iturributa Racing Club 2–0 Garitzeta Racing Club
Astograth University 2–1 Freedom FC
The Army Club 2–3 Royal Association

South Factory extend their lead over the second-placed Royal Rumiatzi after a strong showing against Ituraitz and Rumiatzi's draw with traditional rivals Athletic. Blue Mountain Range parked the bus to rescue a point against an Iturributa United that fails to impress yet again. Incredibly, the Echegoyan outfit is placed third, ahead of Sporting on goal difference.

Matchday 10
Lermendia FC 3–0 Royal Association
Freedom FC 1–0 The Army Club
Garitzeta Racing Club 2–2 Astograth University
Iturributa United 2–2 Iturributa Racing Club
Royal Rumiatzi 1–1 Blue Mountain Range
Sporting Iturributa 6–3 Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Ituraitz FC 1–1 Ituraitz Victory
Urbizania Wanderers 0–2 South Factory

We are now a full one-third into the season, with South Factory firmly at the top of the league and looking like prime candidates to win their first ever title. Sporting goes in second place after another Athletic goalfest, while Royal Rumiatzi rue their missed chances after drawing with the fourth-placed Blue Mountain Range. An unmoving Ituraitz Derby ended with both contestants side by side in the league, while further down the table Iturributa United still hopes for a comeback. In much the same position is Urbizania Wanderers, who have all but given up on going to the Globe Cup.

It was an overall regular season for the Premier League, for a second straight year Bayern-Algaer pulled of the league championship for a spot in the TQCC. In its first year in the Premier league Reading almost shocked the league by winning it all but a last day tie saw them miss out to the Bayern team by a whole point. The Rainbow Warriors will advance to the Globe Cup along with Fadron Pizza Cup winner and third place finisher X Island, and the Atlantea Hurricanes. The bottom half of the league saw Yaton FC and Tintown somehow manage to stay out of relegation, while Mierton saw its short hopes of returning to the Premeir league ended, and Karela was pushed out after three years, and Pwux and Greenville also ended short bids to the top league.

The Erste Liga saw a lot of good action on the season. Laketown and Fadron ran away with the season as many expected the two to do. All four teams relegated teams form the finished the season in the top five, and Fadron was relegated all of two years ago. Blacklake and Rapids faced each other in a promotion play-off due to being tied on points and as per the league rules had a one game playoff fro promotion in Laketown. The Rapids would advance to the Premier league for the second time in two seasons with a 3-1 victory. At the bottom of the league Loudon, Reynea, Aroland, and Diebert all as expected were relegated with Diebert having a horrible season with a total of 34 losses, and only 20 total points. Laketown and Fadron were able to capture the divisions to SBCC spots with their outstanding play.

The 2005 season has finished up and teams will now be allocated their slots based on the current calendar rather than on the 2004 season, which was expected. North Chicanan became the new protector of Danemark-Chicander in their home region, and the NCFA will run their association league for the time being.

The NCFA will allow teams to compete abroad even though they choked horribly last series and saw the national coefficient fall to 40th. No word if the Premier Council plans to offer a cash prize to any club that can make it to group stage in any of the tournaments, but we'd love to think so.

The Logixoft Poinsettia League
The Crown Jewel of Métropolitain Football — 2010-2011 Season

The 2010-2011 Logixoft Poinsettia League will go down in the history books as one of the most shocking seasons in all of Azuran Football. From the very start of the season tables, strange things were lurking about, as a massive upheaval in the power rankings shook the League to its very core. Most evident early on would be the struggles of Queenstown Prime, the most successful club in the Poinsettia League. Despite the fantastic play from star forward Cailéan and midfielder André Augustin Étienne, Queenstown managed only a fifth place finish in the Southern Table, ensuring their first non-qualifying year for the Poinsettia Cup since 1999. The loss was compounded by the sudden news in July 2011 of the selling of Cailéan to the Erathi Niccostrato Club.

In the North, Merriam Azalea and Sanfordshire Abbey continued their run of success dating back to the 2009-2010 season, while stalwart Machionreal suffered its worse season ever, finishing in ninth place. They were not alone in their misery, however, as fans of Colossae West lamented their team's relegation after finishing dead last in their division. They would join perennial Garden League fixtures Maidstone, Massioux Rouge, and Oak Hill on the relegation list. The second division's Maua Poa, Mildura Garden, Tiverton Prime, and Williamstown Athletic earned promotions in their place.

From the very beginning, the footballing community marveled at the rise of Nor'Calais to prominence in the South. After building on five years worth of trial and error, Georges St. Martin and his squad finally broke through in 2011, dominating the table en route to the best overall record in the Poinsettia League, earning them the Achæon's Trophy in 2011. Another team qualifying for postseason play, Galashiels, would unseat them in the very first round of Poinsettia Cup, however, sending the fans of the Artican Warriors scrambling for cover in the midst of the fiery fallout.

The 2011 Poinsettia Cup Tournament
Eight Teams. One Champion. All Glory.

The 2011 Poinsettia Cup Tournament was one of the most intense football competitions ever witnessed in the burgeoning Azuran community. With the Poinsettia League entering its twelfth year of play, perennial powerhouses Queenstown Prime and Shire de Bonn were out, leaving new teams to compete for Azuran Football's highest domestic honor—the Poinsettia Cup. Presented by His Majesty the Achæon, the Poinsettia Cup was determined between the four best teams of the Norður Töflunni (Merriam Azalea, Sanfordshire Abbey, Sainte Catharines, Cheltenham United) and of the Suður Töflunni (Nor'Calais, Swansea, Ladysmith, Galashiels). Of all eight teams involved, only four had ever participated in a Poinsettia Cup Tournament before 2011, and only two—Merriam Azalea and Sainte Catharines—had ever hoisted the Cup.

The Poinsettia Cup's first two rounds began with an Aggregate Score format, as the two divisions weeded out their remaining teams one by one. Merriam Azalea, the class of the Norður Töflunni swept Cheltenham United, while a 1-Nil victory over Sainte Catharines helped Sanfordshire Abbey erase the first match draw and propel them into the second round. On the other side, Ladysmith and Swansea battled it out in an even series, with the Roving Reds finally defeating the Swansea club with penalty kicks in match two. They would meet the surprise team of the tournament, Galashiels, who knocked off the top seeded Nor'Calais in a stunning upset.

With surprises abundant in the first round, things got even more hectic in the Semi-Finals. Merriam Azalea was on a mission against Sanfordshire Abbey, marking up a four goal differential against the Friars to advance as the Norður Töflunni representatives in the Cup Final. But their performance was vastly overshadowed by the offensive onslaught of a suddenly vengeful Ladysmith squad, who virtually ended the season of Galashiels in the first match, putting up a 10-1 showing on the road. The Suður Töflunni representatives would put up a nine goal differential en route to their berth in the Cup Final.

With eight teams now parred down to just two, the Best of Three Series began to crown the 2011 Poinsettia Cup Champions. Ladysmith, the decided underdog against top seeded Merriam Azalea, shocked Azuran viewers by mounting an impressive 2-Nil victory. Merriam Azalea returned the favor with a comfortable 3-1 victory two days later, bringing the final result down to the third and decisive game. On June 30th, the two sides met at the Métropolitain Football Grounds at Commonwealth Stadium in Port Charlotte, Cathanthini Prefecture for the final time. Goals by Spurious Porcius Maro and Ryan Voula knotted both sides at 1-1 heading into extra time. After going scoreless throughout, both sides became embroiled in penalty kicks. There, a controversial decision by Merriam Azalea manager Jeremi DuPont to place defensive stalwart Maraudus in to kick the fifth and final penalty came back to haunt his squad, as Ryne Voula capitalized on the Maraudus miss, scoring the fifth and deciding penalty kick to earn his team the Poinsettia Cup in 2011. It was the first ever appearance, and the first ever Cup Victory for Ladysmith F.C.

The Poinsettia Cup Champion Ladysmith squad will compete in the forthcoming TakilQuip Champions' Cup, while the other three Semi-Finalists in the Poinsettia Cup—Galashiels, Merriam Azalea, and Sanfordshire Abbey—qualified for the Globe Cup. In the secondary division, the top four teams (Maua Poa, Mildura Garden, Tiverton Prime, and Williamstown Athletic) earned the right to compete in the Series B Champions' Cup. 2011 marks the first time in the history of Azuran football that Métropolitain clubs will compete in internationally recognized tournaments.

The Third Islander Championship

The third edition of the predictable Islander Championship had eight teams competing for five berths to the next UICA tournaments (and as a bonus-track, the winner will also get a berth to the Cygnus Cup!). The three Islander teams that competed in the last Unity League season (Navel FC, Navel Sharks and Racing de Terranova) will be joined by the best five teams in the last Campeonato Nacional season in this knockout competition to decide Whirl Islands' entrants into the next cycle of UICA tournaments. Eight teams entered the most predictable competition in the multiverse, but only five of them will have the chance to take part in international competitions. Who will be the teams that will achieve that goal? Let's find out the answer here...

Quarter-Finals
Eastburg United 2-2 Navel FC
Navel FC 1-1 Eastburg United (3-3 agg) (Navel FC wins on away goals rule)

Union FC 1-2 Navel Sharks
Navel Sharks 2-1 Union FC (4-2 agg)

FC Atlantis 2-0 Racing de Terranova
Racing de Terranova 0-3 FC Atlantis (0-5 agg)

Lagoon Red Diamonds 1-1 Narissa Dolphins
Narissa Dolphins 0-2 Lagoon Red Diamonds (1-3 agg)

OK, now WIFA are starting to seed teams more fairly, according to domestic merit, which is starting to give us some high-level clashes in the first round! For example, the current Islands Cup holders, Navel FC, managed to defeat Eastburg on away goals and sent the "First Champs" to the "Losers Tournament", where they won't fight for four UICA berths but for a single Globe Cup berth. Meanwhile, Atlantis managed to advance to the semifinals after two tense derbies against Terranova, while Navel Sharks and the Red Diamonds are also in contention for the two TQCC berths.

Here, the tournament will split into two parts: the main tournament, the "Winners Tournament", with the four semifinalists that will play for two TQCC and two GC berths, and the "Losers Tournament", which will feature the four losers in the quarterfinal matches and will give the last GC berth to the winner.

Losers Tournament:

Semifinals
Eastburg United 4-0 Union FC
Union FC 2-1 Eastburg United (2-5 agg)

Racing de Terranova 1-0 Narissa Dolphins
Narissa Dolphins 2-0 Racing de Terranova (2-1 agg)

Final
Eastburg United 1-1 Narissa Dolphins
Narissa Dolphins 0-0 Eastburg United (1-1 agg) (Narissa Dolphins wins on away goals rule) - Narissa Dolphins qualified to GC

Winners Tournament:

Semifinals
Navel FC 1-5 Navel Sharks
Navel Sharks 1-0 Navel FC (6-1 agg) - Navel Sharks qualified to TQCC

FC Atlantis 0-4 Lagoon Red Diamonds
Lagoon Red Diamonds 1-0 FC Atlantis (5-0 agg) - Lagoon Red Diamonds qualified to TQCC

Third-Place Match
Navel FC 1-0 FC Atlantis
FC Atlantis 1-0 Navel FC (1-0 AET, 1-1 agg, 3-2 PKs) - Both teams qualified to GC

Final
Navel Sharks 1-0 Lagoon Red Diamonds
Lagoon Red Diamonds 0-2 Navel Sharks (0-3 agg) - Navel FC qualified to TQCC Champions Path

Congratulations to Navel Sharks, who have won the third Islander Championship, claimed their sixth Islands Cup and also qualified to the next Cygnus Cup.

Liventian Professional Football League season 3
Now in its third season in its current form, the Liventian Professional Football League returned with no format changes, although three teams changed names. Belford FC, playing in PFL Three, absorbed nearby non-league Weston Rovers to become Belford and Weston. The FAL regards this club as a direct successor of Belford FC. As a result, Weston FC, who also play in PFL Three, have opted to rename themselves Weston East FC.

In PFL Four, Beling FC struck a lucrative sponsorship deal with a local nightclub called The Radian, and as a result renamed themselves "The Radians, Beling FC". After significant and long-winding discussions, the FAL Clubs Committee voted to approve the name change.

The PFL Championship champion automatically qualifies for the TakilQuip Champions’ Cup, while the next six teams qualify for the Joint Unified System Tournament with six Ad’ihani clubs.

The PFL Cup underwent a format change, with lower-division clubs no longer being awarded places in the cup. It remains a post-season cup, now with just four teams from the PFL Championship (placed 8th to 11th at the end of the league season) taking part in two-legged semifinals and a two-legged final. The winners still qualify for the Cygnus Cup.

All four divisions use goal difference, head-to-head, games won, followed by goals for as tiebreakers.

And traditionally, the Saugeais Football Association holds its annual SFA Cup match against the two top teams from League 1 and League 2. The competitioin not only decides who goes on to Rushmore's Copa de Campeones, but also determines who is the ultimate champion of Saugeais football. In it's inaugural year, we are only having the champions of League 1 and 2, but in future editions, will encompass all teams over all leagues. This year, once again on the League 1 side we have Bugny FC. They will be going about against Dudlek FC, who has been in League 2 for as long as anyone can remember, and now they finally not only get promoted, but win the league by the slimmest of margins. And without further ado, last turn to the action on the field!

Bugny FC 4-1 Dudlek FC (3-0 HT)

Ouch, and there you have it ladies and gentlemen, your ultimate champions of Saugeais football, Bugny FC.
