Ceremonial military ranks in your nation

[The Anglo-Saxon Empire]

Does your military have any ranks that serves no real purpose besides simply allowing better pay, or more experienced individuals to be noticed? The Luthorian navy due to the government forcing all branches to have 10 enlisted and 10 officer ranks has the rank of Senior Master Chief Petty Officer First Class which is almost never given and does nothing except allow the individual given that promotion to get a 10% pay increase.

Ceremonial military ranks in Xanicea are generally simply added on to the beginning of the existing military rank. For example, a person identified as a Private who receives the ceremonial rank of Senior would simply be referred to as Senior Private, and so on. Each ceremonial rank has certain requirements in order to be bestowed, although the effects of such ranks are merely pay rises and such trivial things. Ceremonial rankings do stack, although to ensure that exceedingly skilled individuals do not have excessively long ranks, only three ranks may stack (choice of the individual), though the other ranks will be displayed on the individual's military record and profile. Pay increases stack multiplicatively and only the three chosen ranks will stack. Some ranks are listed below:

Junior - Requires minimum five years of continual service; 2% pay increase
Senior - Requires minimum ten years of continual service; 5% pay increase
Weapons Master - Requires proficiency in all infantry weapon categories as determined by a superior officer; 10% pay increase
Master Engineer - Requires minimum ten years service with honors in Engineering Corps; 10% pay increase
Spotter - Requires minimum 850 confirmed sniper take-downs while serving as spotter; 10% pay increase
Master Sniper - Requires minimum 1,500 confirmed sniper take-downs while serving as sniper; 11% pay increase
Graveyard Specialist - Requires minimum 1,500 hours spent on graveyard shift guard duty (confirmed by superior officer); 5% pay increase

An exceptionally heroic soldier may be knighted in keeping with the tradition of Knights Teutonic.

"Lord Castellan" is conferred upon commanders in charge of defending a major city.

"Lord Palatine" is a honorary of the commander in charge of defending the capital, Marienburg.

Retired veterans may occasionally be awarded titles of nobility and a modest fief in recognition for their service. These titles are not hereditary - their sons would have to prove their worth themselves before they could bear the title of their fathers.

The Emperor of Amervea holds the rank of... Grand General of the Army, Grand Admiral of the Navy, Grand Commander of the Sky, and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. While the position was meant to be ceremonial, the Emperor does have immense power.

We have no "ceremonial" ranks. All ranks and ratings are earned in our military and naval forces.

Never used, but if New Hayesalia is invaded the highest rank of Supreme Military Commander can be used. The insignia is a gold coat of arms on the color of the service the person belongs to.

Imperial Defender - A ceremonial title given to the commander of the Imperial Tierra Prime Defense Force, it comes with a batton and 30% pay increase but can only be given to commanders who where born in the Empire.

Grand Inquisitor - A double title, it is ceremonial in peacetime but real in war time. Any high level commander can receive it in peacetime, in wartime however only commanders who have volunteered to lead a suicidal attack against an invading enemy may receive it. It comes with a 200% pay increase in peacetime and gives it's holders family a pension equal to the Grand Chancellor's pay in wartime.

Ceremonial Ranks in the Valitsian Armed Forces are purely given through Military achievement and are given like medals...

Lord/Lady-General: Has been used for five billion years or more, given to really successful, greatly favoured and intellictually superior Generals and their Spouses
Master/Mistress-Bombardier: Given to long serving Bombardiers who man our giant shell guns, this is relatively common.
Martems' Hammer, the Chosen Son, Prince-Generale: A rank created by Emperor Vaxx for his adopted son, the Emperor Incerniculum.
Imperial-Captain: Given to the Guard Captains (Husband and Wife) in charge of the protection of the Monarchs.
Colonel-Viscount/Viscountess: Given to many veterans who are favoured by the Imperial Family.

The Majority of these are purely ceremonial because they are only unique in name, their are designated ranks that serve the same purpose but have a different title.

The rank of Private First Class technically operates as a "ceremonial" rank, since the promoted is still technically not a non-commissioned officer has no more real authority than is delegated. The promotion does acknowledge the wearer's experience and determination, and is accompanied by a pay increase.

The rank of Colonel-in-Chief is a purely ceremonial position given to patrons of regiments, typically nobles. While they do not play an operational role in the regiment they do visit and maintain links to the unit for the Royal or Ducal family.

The Monarch simultaneously holds the ranks of Lord Commander of the Armies (Army), Lord Chief Admiral of the Fleet (Royal Navy), Lord Chief Air Marshal (Royal Air Force), and Lord Commander of the Royal Guard (Royal Guard). These are de jure the four highest ranks in each of the four branches of the Makaarian armed forces; however, they no longer hold any real authority.

Distinguished retired servicemen who reach the rank of Brigadier or higher (or its equivalent in the other branches of the service) may be granted the honourary title of Knight Commander of the Army, Navy, Air Force or Royal Guard (depending on which service they retired from).

After completing their National Service, every member of the Royal Family is appointed Colonel-in-Chief of some regiment in the Udema Defense Forces; typically the one in which they did their service. The Sovereign is also Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces and Field Marshal of the Royal Army and the Royal Air Force and Admiral of the Fleet of the Royal Navy.

Some of the higher up ranks can be seen as ceremonial, such as the High Generals and High Admirals, whos higher ups are the "Imperial High Generals" who wear Gold, the "Imperial High Admirals" who wear Purple, and members of the Strategic Fleet Command who wear white and blue, and the Vice Lord Commanders, who wear Black. The titles of the Andrewic Governor system Crop up from time to time, But they are also given the title of Moff and Grand Moff.

The Black Council is the Top military command along with the Lord General Commander in Chief the Supreme Fleet Admiral and the Lord Commander Militant. Within the Black Council there is a semi religious figure sometimes selected known as the Lord Marshall, who leads crusades, however a while back they broke away from the rest of the black council and became more in tune with the council of Magi and the Imperial Orders of the Inquisition

Warmaster is the title held by the Leader of all the Space marines and Clone Stormtroopers

There is Also another crusade leader, the Lord Solar, who is in command of a ton of crusade fleets and Imperial regiments

When crusades happen the ranks are necessary but when they arent, they dont really matter all to much

Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Navy and Airforce is a title held by the President of the United States and in honesty; it does nothing. (Mine is heavily different, as you most should know.)

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "ceremonial ranks" assigned to members of our military. Such position may exist but they are filled by specific commissioned officer or non-commissioned officer. This is to prevent financial wastage, as being paid a higher allowance but doing no real task is just stupid in the eyes of our nations.
