Federation Trophy
The Federation Trophy is highly regarded as the highest domestic achievement of any Chetkoski football club. It is contested between the top 48 teams in the Provincial Divisional Tier (typically the top 9 teams in each division plus the best 3 teams holding 10th place), the Championship teams and the AFPL teams, 88 in total. The tournament uses a simple knock-out proceedure. The 40 teams from the premier league and the championship have byes to the second round, leaving the 48 provincial teams to duke it out in the first round until 24 remain. This makes 64 in total in the second round and play continues from there. The quarter-finals and the final are played on neutral ground and use extra time and penalties to decide ties. The semi-finals are played in two legs and use the away-goals rule, followed by extra time and penalties, to decide ties. All other rounds use replays on the original away team's home grounds, and then the away-goals rule followed by extra time and penalties, to decide ties.
Without further ado here follows the results of the 1st Federation Trophy:
Quarter-Finals
. CFR Dynamo Vilychek 1-3 Red Star Kemenovsk FC
FC Yusev Mariners 0-0 Razinenik Harriers FBC (0-0 AET, 0-2 PKs, 0-2 agg)
CSKA Tsaritin Saints 3-3 PSV Stavropol (4-4 AET, 3-4 PKs, 7-8 agg)
Zenit Berlinengrad 2-1 Ostrov Trinity FC
Semi-Finals
. PSV Stavropol 2-0 FC Yusev Mariners
FC Yusev Mariners 1-1 PSV Stavropol (1-3 agg)
Red Star Kemenovsk FC 1-0 Zenit Berlinengrad
Zenit Berlinengrad 2-1 Red Star Kemenovsk FC (2-2 agg)
Final
Red Star Kemenovsk FC 2-2 PSV Stavropol (2-3 AET)
PSV Stavropol walk away from the season with the well-deserved Federation Trophy after an exciting final against 3rd place Red Star Kemenovsk FC and a thrilling quarter-final draw against the AFPL champions CSKA Tsaritin Saints, which contained 8 magnificent goals (with a hat-trick from Stavropol star forward Yuri Tristan) before being decided by a nail-biting penalty shoot-out. The saints failed to close down Tristan all game, and he scored his goal in the shoot-out for a total of 4 in a single game. The only other game to rival this goal tally was the second round match between CSKA Smolensk and Korunyev Energie in which the latter were severely trounced by the former 8-0. Ostrov Trinity FC are the championship team to travel the furthest, reaching the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by Zenit Berlinengrad. Veblensk Rapids FC and FC Spartak Kresnich are the provincial teams that progressed the furthest, both lasting until the fourth round.
Provincial Shield
The Provincial Shield was created to provide more motivation to play in the Provincial Divisional Tier. Due to the fact that only the top team in each division is promoted each season, it was thought that teams would lack motivation to play well once they fell out of the title race, which would cause boring sports performances and arbitrary game results. The Provincial Shield is contested between the 20 teams in the tier holding 2nd through 5th places (4 places per division), with the teams holding 2nd place receiving a bye to the second round. The first round uses a round-robin format, with three groups of five teams. The 3rd place teams are grouped together, as are the 4th place teams and the 5th - this is to ensure gameplay is both entertaining and unpredictable. The top team in each group then continues to the second round, making 8 teams in total, and play continues in a knock-out format. The group stage, the quarter-finals and the final are played on neutral ground (typically grounds in a province in which neither club resides) and use extra time and penalties to decide ties. The semi-finals are played in two legs and use the away-goals rule, followed by extra time and penalties, to decide ties.
Without further ado here follows the results of the 1st Provincial Shield:
Quarter-Finals
. Urka Bay FFK 1-2 Fencing Club Tsaritin
TSG Rutyenir Diamonds 2-0 Dynamo Truvchevsk
Seskerin Hotspur FC 3-2 CKSZ Chulyabriv Turk
YRKV Oblininsk Town 1-1 KSG Einfelt (1-1 AET, 0-1 PKs)
Semi-Finals
Fencing Club Tsaritin 1-2 KSG Einfelt
KSG Einfelt 1-2 Fencing Club Tsaritin (1-2 AET, 2-3 PKs, 5-6 agg)
Seskerin Hotspur FC 0-3 TSG Rutyenir Diamonds
TSG Rutyenir Diamonds 2-0 Seskerin Hotspur FC
Final
TSG Rutyenir Diamonds 0-0 Fencing Club Tsaritin (1-1 AET, 3-4 PKs)
Fencing Club Tsaritin come out on top despite many believing the victory should have belonged to the Diamonds after their resounding victory in the semi-finals against Seskerin Hotspur, but unfortunately for them they couldn't bring their form to bear in the final, and the Fencing Club prove in the last two rounds that they have a very strong squad of penalty-takers. The result means that both the Provincial Shield and the AFPL Champion's Silverware go to the grand city of St. Tsaritin this season. Inter-Yusev FFC's disappointing season ends on a low as they fail to perform in the Provincial Shield group stage as well as dropping out of the Federation Trophy in the first round.
Amateur Plate
There are 200 teams in the Federated Amateur Tier (10 tables of 20) and many, many more below the tier in regional amateur leagues. The Amateur Plate is contested between the top 128 teams in the Federated Amateur Tier, in other words the top 12 teams in each table plus the best 8 teams holding 13th place. The tournament uses a simple knock-out proceedure. All teams are randomly drawn into the first round and play continues from there. The semi-finals and final are played on neutral ground and use extra time and penalties to decide ties. All other rounds use replays on the original away team's home grounds, and then the away-goals rule followed by extra time and penalties, to decide ties.
The winners of the first Amateur Plate are Makhstav Town Cannons of Kedrovyna East Challenge League.
(OOC: Having already invented a total of 150 domestic clubs, I think I'll just state the winners instead of making up another 128)
