Format

It is a 24 team tournament. There will be four groups of six, with each team playing each other once. At the end of the group stage, the second place team from Group A will face the first place team from Group B, the second place team from Group B will face the First place team from Group A, the second place team from group C will play the first place team from group D, and the second place team from group D will play the First Place team from Group C. The two winners will move on to face each other in the finals while the losers will play each other in the third place game.

Tiebreakers are as follows: Points will be first, followed by goal differential, H2H result, and H2H goal differential.

After the group stage, four quarterfinal games will be played followed by two semifinals will be played, followed by a third-place playoff and a championship game. However, if numbers are sufficient, there might be a quarterfinal as well.

Vephrall's NSFS3 will be used to scorinate, each night at 8-9 PM EST.

RPs will be graded based on respect for opponents' RP permissions, grammar and spelling (won't be ridiculous and nit-picky here), quality and effort. It wouldn't really be fair to define further what quality means, as people RP differently.

Randall has been FSSO or ‘Fuzz’ (FSSO is short for my nations full name) national manager for three years. He has a good reputation having developed the national youth system and bringing better results in general, although he has received criticism for indecision at times. He is currently on a high however following recent victory in the Market Cup.

Assistant Manager: Dimitri Campbell
Assistant manager for one year, following in the footsteps of his father Brian Campbell. Similar but less attacking style to Randall.

1. Daniel Belgrave – GK – 23 – Directus – 49 – 0

This young player came up through the Directus FC youth system and has been their first choice goalkeeper for two years now. He has been first choice for the national team for a similar amount of time, and his height and bravery have made him an effective goalkeeper. Strong at defending set pieces and corners and good at saving penalties, but is not as good at dealing with shots from a tight angle.

27. Jerry Watchman – GK – 31 – Bastion – 110 – 1

Before the arrival of Belgrave on the scene, Watchman was first choice. He famously headed in a goal in stoppage time to give the FSSO a 1-0 win in a tournament of local national teams. He ran up for a corner as the clock ran down and threw himself into a diving header, turning him into a national hero overnight. Belgrave’s natural mentor.

41. Craig Castleton – GK – 28 – Pashter United – 20 – 0

Third choice goalkeeper who recently returned from a lengthy injury. Good at dealing with close range efforts due to good reactions, but weak at set pieces.

Defenders

2. Dennis Arnold – RB/RWB – 24 – Directus – 66 – 1

This promising attacking right back was discovered by manager Ben Randall when he was managing powerhouse club Directus, and he called the lad up as soon as he became manager of the national team. Arnold has had a good start to his international career, despite initially being a flop. Lacks in strength, but fast and good at dribbling.

4. Grant Davis – CB – 30 – Ulsa – 118 – 7

6 ft 3 Grant Davis has long been a staple of the FSSO back line, providing stability and control in defence. He has a great record with his head, scoring 6 for his country with the cranium from set plays and such. His seventh goal came from a wonderful volley in a friendly last year. Strong and generally a great player.

5. Mike Humphrey – RCB – 26 – Bastion – 79 – 1

Less physically imposing than Davis, but much more skilled on the ball and slightly fitter. However his goal scoring ability is pathetic, even for a defender.

3. Joe Arnie Pizza – LB/LM – 24 – Bastion – 76 – 3
Vice captain

(If anyone gets the reference to a real life player in the name, they get a cookie.) An intense attacking left back who can also play a left midfield role, Pizza is not as consistent or good at tackling as the above three defenders but he is much better at short and long balls and has a deadly left foot which regularly thumps in screaming shots for his club.

Thompson has been playing for his country since he was 17 and never looked back. One of FSSO footballs most successful players, his holding play in midfield is useful in defence and build up play.

8. Carlos Aduna – CAM – 27 – Bastion – 104 – 18
Direct free kick taker – Driven

Like Pizza, Aduna is renowned for his power shots – except Aduna uses his right foot. A powerful presence in midfield that plays good through balls and is excellent at shooting from range, although his ability to head the ball is not great. He is the playmaker.

7. James McRoft – RAM/RW – 22 – Directus - 60 – 13
Direct free kick taker – Curled
Right corner taker

A young winger, McRoft is fast, a brilliant dribbler and superb finisher. His defensive capabilities when going back are questionable but when he dribbles past two players and curls the ball into the top corner from 25 yards, the manager doesn’t complain. Certainly a wonder kid, and currently the joint most valuable player in the FSSO at a price tag of £32 million quaglifumps. The other player is star striker Lee Sharp.

11. Josh Stevenson – LDM/LM – 18 – Farrelton Athletic – 27 – 2
Left corner taker

Josh Stevenson is a very promising young player who plays a more defensive game than his right wing counterpart, but is equally skilled on the ball and also provides brilliant corners and crosses, like McRoft. However, he has only made six international appearances prior to now so his inexperience could hinder him on and off the field.

Since he started playing internationals Sam Needle has shown himself to be a prolific scorer and great finisher. Although his ability to play the ball to others is his weakness, he can produce brilliant finishes especially from short range, and he is quite fast.

10. Lee Sharp – RS – 25 – Directus – 77 – 44
Star player

Sharp is short and not particularly strong, and rarely scores headers – but he is a lethal from all ranges, fast, determined and offers brilliant passing skills and through balls. His speciality is edge of the box finishes, from which he scores a lot of his goals for club and country.

14. Scott Daley – CF – 28 – Farrelton Athletic – 88 – 21

Daley is no longer the forward of choice for his country but he still poses a threat, although as a centre forward he plays more of a supporting role than the leading pair, who are referred to as “Sharp Needles.” However he is very capable with his head, being 6ft 2, and possesses a quite accurate left foot.

Triimoria Football Union Founded!

Today, at a shed in a small house in Central Trii City. The Triimoria Football Association (T.F.A!) was founded! The T.F.A has absolutely no financial backing from anyone and no professional players. Players were picked a few days back at an audition.They are competing in the Market Cup soon. Here is the team:

Triimoria gave a respectable performance yesterday in their first game against Market Cup champions, FSSO. The final score was 3-1 to FSSO, but for a first game Triimoria played well.
FSSO had the first chance of the game very early on, Josh Stevenson took an excellent corner, but an unusually poor header from Davis at the far post hit off the cross bar and was scrambled away by the Triimoria defenders. FSSO had most of the ball until the 15th minute when Quitazotl ran down the left wing and put in a cross which the huge Strong jumped above everyone else and nodded it in the net! 1-0 Triimoria! Then on FSSO had more less all of the ball and Triimoria where on the back foot, but there defense was strong and FSSO didn't get a decent chance until the 44th minute when Sharp took a shot from the edge of the box, where he often scores and was only just tipped over by the Triimoria goalkeeper, Farmer. Half-time. 1-0 Triimoria. So far, so good.
After the break, Triimoria had the first chance of the second half. Belgrave, the FSSO goalkeeper was off his line and Strong attempted to take advantage of this with a furious shot from outside the box which ballooned far over he cross bar. It was the 57th minute when FSSO got their first goal. A long ball after a Triimoria corner by Dennis Arnold landed at Steven Thompson in the Triimoria half, he then passed it to Lee Sharp in the box. Timmy Hack was the only player back apart from the goalkeeper. He fouled Sharp with a vicious two-footed tackle. Penalty! Hack was shown red as Sharp limped off, to be replaced by Daley. Needle put the penalty past Farmer with ease. 1-1 all! On the 73rd minute, it was awful defending that gave Needle his second. A corner came in and Needle was unmarked in the box, he had an easy tap in which he scored. 2-1 FSSO. Triimoria came back a little and had a few half-chances, but on the 80th minute Needle finished Triimoria. Some fantastic play lead to a one-two inside the box between Needle and Aduna, which left Needle with another simple shot for his hat-trick. 3-1 FSSO and that was how the game finished.
The Triimoria Leader spoke to the Triimoria manager, Fitzgerald Kalling. He was pleased with his team's performance and said,
"It was a few mistakes by us and some great play from FSSO led to our loss, but apart from that we played very well for a team who has never played before against the reigning champions".
Today is Triimoria second game in the Market Cup. They are playing Darrenovia, hopefully Triimoria can built on this performance!

FSSO 3 - 1 Triimoria

The FSSO recovered from an early deficit to stroll to a 3-1 win over Triimoria as they attempt to retain the Market Cup, but Lee Sharp might miss the next game after picking up a worrying injury.

The FSSO started well and Davis should've given them the lead from a Stevenson corner, but his headed effort cannoned of the bar and was scrambled out of the box. It was proved a costly miss as Triimorias Quitazotl sped down the line soon after and whipped in a cross which was headed home by Strong. However this woke up the FSSO who stormed back into the game - however it wasn't until just before half time that they had another good chance when Lee Sharp saw his shot tipped over by the keeper. However in the second half the FSSO were given an oppurtunity when Lee Sharp was hacked down viciously by the ironically named Timmy Hack. Hack got a straight red as he was sent off to a chorus of FSSO fans booing him, and sympathetic applause for Sharp as he limped off to be replaced by Scott Daley. Needle tucked home the penalty with ease, and gave the FSSO the lead on the 73rd minute. Triimoria failed to clear a poor James McCroft corner, and Needle capitalised by nudging the ball over the line for second. The third was a classic FSSO goal - silky build up play led to a quick passing exchange between Aduna and Needle, leaving Needle free to control the ball and snap it past the Triimorian keeper to finish the game. Lee Sharp's fitness concerns remain however and he may miss his next game.

MARTINIJAN FOOTBALL WEEKLY
First big win in our nations sports history
Yesterday Martinija saw its first win in an official international cup.

Martinija 1-0 Vergenskia.

The mach started slowly with the two teams testing to see what each was capable of. There were a couple of chances on both sides.
Martinija started the mach with a shot from defender Dame Dunav whose effort came from about 15 meters but sailed over the cross bar the next 15 min. were uneventful but in the 37 min Martinijas most promising chance of the first half came from striker Goran Gorkov who took a cracker of a shoot form over 20 meters and rattled the crossbar. Late in the first half Goran got a yellow card for diving in the penalty area. He the referee ended the first half both sets of players were disappointed because they didn’t do better. The second half started with a bang as a free kick for Martinija was awarded in dangerous position the free kick was taken by Vasko Bovkov but the vergenskian goalkeeper saved the attempt. The first goal came after both strikers were substituted Goran
Because of the danger of him getting a second yellow and Mone because of an apparent injury to his foot. The only goal in this fairly uneventful mach came in the 67 min as midfielder Nevos Varas came up the left side and crossed in to the area sub. Eskim Efrev headed the ball in to the net from point-blank range. The rest of the mach was even more boring then the first half with almost no chanches.The only real opportunity came in the 85 min. as Eric Mastewrs miss the target from about 12 meters.
After the mach coach Peter Jonus gave a statement:
"This is our first win in a international tournament and I am very proud of all my players as should the whole country this is a great moment in our sport history an we should celebrate it"
At the press conferences Peter was asked about Mones injury he gave the following answer
"Mone is a strong player and the injury is not as serious as we though he should be reedy for Tomorrows game against Kernansquillec"
Today Martnija is playing against Kernansquillec lets hope we can keep our wining streak going.

THE DAILY KERNANSQUILLECAN

ONE WIN, ONE DEFEAT

The Kernansquillec's Senior Football Team have been in action in the 2nd Market Cup. It was a good start with a 2-1 win against unheard of Lucdom. A brace by Lewis Kent got the points that we needed by the Kers. Also to be noted a great performance by U21 striker Kai Holmes who made a good debut for the senior team.

But it wasn't so good in the second group game were dispite getting a goal to draw the game level at one all at half time the Green and Whites lost it 2-1 to Martinija.

More to come from the team as they look to bounce back from this defeat.

Sol nodded happily as his players left the field. They'd done well. His attempt to shock them into action after the previous match appeared to have worked and they had played Darennovia off the field. Skye's decisive shot midway through the first half was enough to seal the victory, but in reality they could have had four or five, and Blonqvist in particular was unlucky not to have bagged at least two after coming on for Ackermann-Finn.

Even Hansen and Bielsen had threatened goals of their own, with regular forays into dangerous territory. And that doesn't happen too often, Sol mused.

Yes, a good performance here, and hopefully a sound mind going forward to future matches.

And at long blessed last, a clean sheet.

FUZZ CRUISE TO VICTORY OVER JAH SENSIMILIA

FSSO 2-0 Jah Sensimilia

Goals from Ben Quinn and Scott Daley ensured a comfortable victory for the FSSO against Jah Sensimilia, as Lee Sharp watched from the sidelines with an injury.

Quinn opened the scoring roughly ten minutes in when a cross by Josh Stevenson was sliced horribly but somehow went between the keepers legs and pinged back off the post, where Quinn calmly struck the ball into the bottom corner for his fifth international goal. He almost doubled his tally minutes later when put clear, but his low shot flew past the post by a mile. The FSSO continued to press and were experimenting with a centre back left out (Davis) and a centre forward (Daley) played behind two strikers (Quinn and Needle.) The only issue was finishing as all three forwards were left footed, albeit Needle and Daley could handle themselves with te right foot. In the second half Quinn came off for Hill to move on the right and it worked well; so much so that they doubled their lead in the 74th minute. Hill's long ball to Needle was perfect, and Needle crossed - the charging Carlos Aduna missed the overhead kick attempt but Scott Daley was there to head home. The FSSO were surprisingly dominant in a performance that must worry their Group C rivals, although they had a late scare when Daniel Belgrave spilled a free kick - only for the ball to roll along the line, gently dink against the post and then recovered by Belgrave.
