The Vonghurst Star
Burchadinger Cup Preview

SOMEWHERE IN BURCHADINGER - Not a single year can't go by without seemingly hundreds more new football tournaments. Each of them vying to become the next big thing. Hell, even six years ago Virabia dabbled in hosting the defunct Cup of Peace. They are known for being rather un-remarkable and the Burchadinger Cup looks to be no different from the rest of these. The vast majority of the nations in the tournament are either ones new to the realm of international sport, or they are just one of the many forgettable nations that hold a modest KPB ranking but, who are we to judge. It's not like we're any better. Last I checked, we were ranked one-hundred and seventh behind such footballing powers Arcquest and Qlumez.

Anyway, before I blather on about how forgettable the next few cycles of Virabi football will be, I'll stop my self and begin my look at the three teams of Group E at this the second world cup.

Eastfield Lodge

While they haven't posted a roster yet, I am somewhat assured that they will do quite well in this World Cup. As of the last update of the KPB rankings they stood fourtieth in the World and this is likely an under assessment of the talent they have on the team. The only saving grace for us is that they may be sending their 'B' team to compete in this cup instead of their strongest eleven. Then again, the VFA has elected to do the same thing because they've apparently stopped caring about winning long ago.

Our prediction for them is that they will go rather deep into the tournament and will handedly make it out of the group stage without too much worry. Or in lay mans terms, they will finish first...

Johz

I really don't want to sound offensive here but, who the hell are they. I mean, seriously. I've never so much as heard of Johz which means that they are with out a doubt a relative newcomer to the arena of international sports. So, in theory they should be easy to beat but, I distinctly remember this paper saying the exact same thing about a certain Novikov in the qualification stage of World Cup 51, and look at things now. If the Nats' were to play the Flag Shirts now, they would get their arses handed to them. That is if the entire game could be completed....heh....heh....heh.

I predict that they will finish a very close third but, I won't be surprised if they give us a run for our money.

Virabia

Like I said in the intro. The Virabi team is far from the top dog in football. To be quite honest, we suck. Virabi clubs are known for their repeated failure at UICA tournaments and the Nats' put up continuously poor performances. There is some light in the situation, though. Despite a rocky start with Jeff Parker at the helm, the Under 21 team has performed exceptionally well at the U21WC and, the tactics which Parker has employed in that tournament as well as Parkers loose management style has been credited with the performance of the U21 Nats at that tournament.

Whether or not this success can be replicated with the full senior squad is a different matter. While one would certainly think that they would be willing to adapt (some of these players have been on the team since Brett Sampson's tenure back in World Cup 51 around a decade ago) it's always safer to assume that both could happen. Still, with the team we see quite a bit of strength as a strong and well balanced group of twenty three have been chosen from within the ranks of the v.league to make the journey to Burchadinger, where we shall see for ourselves how this tournament will sort it self out.

Our prediction for the Nats' is second but as I've said in my prediction for Johz, one can't be too sure of this. We will certainly find out tomorrow though as Virabia plays a double-header against Eastfield Lodge.

Extract from page 46 to 48 of "The Terns - A History of The Federation of Polar Islandstates Football Team. Volume 1 of 4: The Early Years" by retired footballer and respected pundit and football historian Mr P Ackermann-Finn.

"We lined up proudly. This was the first competitive match in the history of the Federation of Polar Islandstates. The mixed success of the friendlies was behind us and our heroics in recent years were yet to come. But this was the first chance to finally show the world what the people of the FPI could do when it really mattered. This was the chance to set out the stall from the very start, and get off to a winning start. There was a real sense of "this is it" about the whole thing. The Twitchers were in fine voice, vociferously supporting their team like true heroes. Flags of navy, white, and green were flying all around the stadium, and mounts and gulls were everywhere to be seen.

The national anthem was sung heartily. There was even a tear in Timo Skye's eyes, though he would never admit to that. As we lined up in our formations I looked across at Timo, only to find no glimmer of emotion staring back at me. The emotion of the national anthem was gone, replaced by pure professionalism. I played with Timo a lot during my playing career, but I think nowhere else did I see such a professional performance from a character so well known for his outbursts and temper tantrums.

Our opponents, Zitru, were also newcomers to the international football scene, and they were sporting a curiously international squad. To be fair, we didn't know a whole lot about them. The scouts hadn't been able to see much from them, as they'd played in isolation and behind closed doors before the Burchadinger Cup. That said, we'd rehearsed and practised the iceberg formation with drilled efficiency in training, and we were feeling prepared, if a little desperate for that first win.

The kick off came and I could feel the blood boiling in my veins as the crowd surged around us with noise. Its hard to describe the feeling of the start of a football match in front of that many people, but the closest thing to it I suppose is like the whole universe flowing through you at once, all senses are heightened. Not that there was much time to appreciate the feeling, almost immediately as the ball is kicked you can hear Morten yelling at you all from the touchline, and behind that its easy to imagine the cogs in Sol's head turning.

We made a good start. Pekarik was playing well down the wing and proving a constant feed of possession to Ole in the centre. Of course, his principal focus was Timo, but I like to think I was causing problems for the opposition as well. And with constant pressing, we managed to work an opening, Timo knocking the ball down from another Pekarik cross, but my volley flew straight into the hands of the Zitru keeper. It was a shame yes, but the momentum was firmly with us and in the 34th minute we finally made our breakthrough.

Niko was up for a corner, and as ever was causing all manner of problems in the box, and though his header cannoned back off the crossbar, I was in the right place to knock it back out to Petter for another go at crossing it in. Zitru reacted quickly though and pushed out at high speed, leaving us with no chance but to clear the box ourselves. Petter knocked it to the edge of the box into the feet of Timo as he ran backwards, and he performed a dazzling turn to wrong foot the entire defence and knocked it back to Ole. Before anyone else could react, Ole had played a through ball for Timo and he ran on to it swiftly. Timo was the only player running in that direction by this point as the whole series had taken mere moments.

You could almost sense the crowd holding their breath as he ran onto the ball. You could feel 20,000 Twitchers leaning forwards as he pulled his foot back. You could hear the stadium draw breath at the same time as the ball thundered into the back of the net.

Suddenly the place erupted, flags waved, horns sounded, scarves were thrown and Timo was throwing himself across the turf, clenching the badge on his chest and screaming madly. Polar Islandstates had arrived, and we very much felt we had earned it.

I'll never forget that moment. I forgot a lot of the rest of the match of course, thanks to the after party, but you all know what happened. The match is well documented and I doubt you're reading that is new from a historical point of view. However, I do vividly recall the split second I looked up in to play the lofted ball up to Timo for his second a mere two minutes later. His volley was obstructed from my view by a Zitru player's torso, but the ball hitting the back of the net was clear to me as I fell to my knees in pain. My pass was widely lauded after the match as a work of art, but for me it ended my match prematurely. My hamstring had gone in the landing, and I missed the next two matches as a result.

In the second half I was confined to the dugout with an icepack strapped to my leg as I watched my compatriots play out the rest of the match. I practically left my fingerprints in the plastic of my seat as I gripped it intensely as Zitru came at us time and time again and Niko and Maarten were forced to perform heroics they could scarcely have been expected to. Niko threw himself in front of so many shots in that second half, I saw the bruises after the game.

Zitru eventually found a way through though, and a goalmouth bundle from a corner saw the ball trickle into the net with ten minutes left on the clock. We never found out for sure which Zitru player scored, but it gave them renewed vigour. Sol threw on another centre back in the form of Anton as we tried desperately to protect our lead, with Timo looking more and more isolated up front as my replacement Henning was forced into defensive duties.

And with two minutes of injury time left, suddenly there it was. Pekarik burst forth unexpectedly, taking a massive risk on Niko winning his challenge. Niko won his challenge and layed the ball out. Pekarik played a one-two with Petter and burst forwards, playing a long ball forwards for Timo, and suddenly there it was.

Timo had one man to beat, which he did. He saw the Zitru goalkeeper advancing from his goal, and Timo had to lob him, which he did.

The ball had to land in the net, and it did. And suddenly, there it was.

3-1. The match was surely ours now.

Timo ran the full length of the pitch in celebration. And his body was showing just as much tensity in celebration at the final whistle as he did when he scored it.

He was mobbed at the final whistle by all our players, mobbed by the press after the game, and mobbed by the supporters forever more. Timo Skye came of age that day. He put behind the tempestuous past of his for a few moments at least, and played with a maturity and skill that showed the way the Terns could play. He truly rose to the occasion, and deserved his hat trick like no performance I've ever seen since has.

Timo's hat trick on our first ever competitive international match of course put us in pole position to qualify from our first ever group stage to the excitement of knockouts, but of course you all know what happened after that. This day belonged to Timo Skye though, and whatever controversial events happened later in his career, that can never be taken away from him. I'm been to Timo's house many a time, and regardless of all the awards and trophies and medals he has collected, the ball from this match sits in pride of place in the centre of his mantelpiece."

LNN Sports

Bringing you closer to the action!

Loonaterian's opening game in the Burchadinger Cup 2 was against Jeruselem. It was expected for Jeruselem to be untouchable in the group and they certainly showed Loonaterian why they are so high in the rankings. They destroyed Loonaterian 3-0. The "Big Cats" mangaer Levi Kotuu has said that nobody in the team expected to win. They believed they could win, but simply so they played with courage. And even that wasn't enough to save them from a 3-0 smashing. Here is a full match report:

As the teams took to the field everybody expected this to be good. It started alright for Loonaterian. They pushed forward to attack, but on a counter attack the Jeruselem striker exploited a gap and slipped through. They scored. 1-0. It didn't take them long to score again. Ronnie Kane made his second defending mistake of the match. Again goal to Jeruselem. 2-0. Ronnie Kane had to come off after this mistake. Rocet Fweëno was brought on to replace Ronnie Kane. At half time the score was still 2-0.

In the second half yet more things went wrong for the Loonaterese. A dirty tackle by a Jeruselem defender hurt Jon Forrestero. He had to be substituted. Forrestero was brought off and Marc Hujro was put on. Forrestero also had to hand over the captain's armband to Jani'é Boréca. Things did improve. Loonaterian did concede another goal, but this wasn't due to a defenders error. It was due to blind luck. A corner just found a Jeruselem striker and despite the carnage in the box the ball managed to find it's way in. Actually, why am I saying despite? I should be saying because of. So Loonaterian were unable to improve on 3-0. Oh well could be worse. Our next match is against Astograth in a game we should win. So look forward to that.

"So how's the group?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe we should check."

"Zitru and Polar Islandstates. They aren't known really."

"Yes, but the Polar team look quite good they beat Zitru 3-1. We also have them next."

As it turned out Kazzoria weren't looking forward too much to their next match. They had seen them bash Zitru to pieces and would probably manage the same again. The Kazzorian side weren't at their strongest after a cup of harmony exit against PdH. Of course they could still beat Zitru, but winning both games was important if they wanted someone easy for the next round.

"The Kazzorian side aren't looking too confident after the CoH."

"I don't know, maybe they'll get over it."

"I don't know, Jamie Sirea seems like a bag of tense nerves at the minute."

"No matter, who are we likely to face if we go through?"

"New England and Maine or Kernansquillec I would think. Either way I think we can win that."

"So how do you think the team will do in this tournament?"

"They could go all the way, but I wouldn't count on it."

Football is back in Johz. Well, if I'm absolutely honest, football has never really been to Johz in the first place. This may well be because we enjoy rubgy and cake-baking more, but who am I to judge? I live here. Anyway, here's a round-up of what's been happening so far.

Round one consisted of eight matches. These were each ninety minutes long, so if one person were to watch all of them, including half-time, he or she would waste about 840 minutes of their life. This does not include extra time because the players have been moping around on the floor, or match analysis, which consists of the 'before' section and 'after' section, which both contain exactly the same amount of content: none.

Groups A, B, C, D, F and G do not contain Johz, so I'm not entirely sure why I'm discussing them. However, Mrs Figgis has suggested that they be mentioned, so here are the really high highlights. In group A, Burchadinger beat North Chicanan 2-1. This was probably fixed because Burchadinger are the host nation. In B, Cyborg Holland and Novikov drew. I strongly suspect that this is because Cyborg Holland's team have been reading too many science fiction novels. In the C match, nothing happened, which just highlights the pointlessness of football. In match D, Polar Islandstates thrashed Zitru by scoring three goals against Zitru's rather pathetic one. However, were we playing rugby, this could have been a very interesting match if conversions were taken into account.

But it isn't, so I'll continue to match F, where Silver Beach drew with Mangolana. How dull. Match G was Jeruselem against Loonaterian, where Jeruselem proved conclusively that three goals is more than none by winning. Finally, Green Jello Salad lost to Swartaz, four goals to two, which is the most scored in this tournament so far.

The match in group E, however, was interesting, apparently, because both Virabia and Eastfield Lodge are in our group. While the match was fairly dull, Virabia won, suggesting that they could well triumph over us. Well I say they won't! This is because Mrs Figgis has told me to instil patriotic pride in our community! Come on, Johz! Although the sooner we lose, the sooner Mr Newman's silly experiment will end.

EDIT: Because it turns out three is not more than four...

Virabia Match One...
Written By: Master Jonathan

Today the Village of Johz finally got round to actually playing football. In a stunning clash of the titans, Johz managed to draw one-all with Virabia. How? Well, through cunning, clever tactics, and something else beginning with 'C'.

Johz opened with out traditional line-up: The one without Arnold. This allowed Arnold extra time to put his boots on, which takes a while because there are so many laces. It also meant that the people who could actually play football had a chance to score some goals before he came on and ruined everything. Indeed, Mr Jackson, the goalkeeper, managed a brilliant shot all the way up the pitch that would have been a truly amazing goal had the game started before then.

Sadly, the Virabians were rather quite good, and it was a struggle to keep the ball in their half. Equally, Arnold's boot-tying process had somehow gone wrong, and he had to start all over again. However, a stray pass by Mr Gilymore landed at the feet of Mr Duncan Jnr, who passed it to Mr Duncan Snr, who passed it to Master Duncan, who passed it back to Mr Duncan Snr, who headed it towards Mr Duncan Jnr, who bounced it onto his knee, before kicking it just over the head of the Viraban goalkeeper, directly into the back of the net, a score which Arnold celebrated by adding a Jubilee knot into his laces, doubling the amount of time that it would take to put them on.

As play resumed, it became apparent that Mr MacHalfords was getting increasingly panicky. A brief discussion with the referee, manager, and Mrs Figgis informed us that he had left his cat in the oven accidentally. A quick substitution later, and Mr MacHalfords was on his way home, having been replaced by Prof. Doom B.Eng, MICE, M-SoT, MAEE, who spent most of the match trying to trip over his bitter rival Dr Cooper, who was, unfortunately, still on the bench. Arnold, who was also still on the bench, had almost finished tying his shoelaces during the half-time break, had just realised that he had accidentally tied the Gravedigger's Knot backwards! However, Johz battled valiently on.

At one point it looked like they might score a second goal, but then in a moment of despair, Mr Duncan Snr. sprained his ankle. Another quick substitution put Arnold on the team, who had thankfully managed to finish tying up his boots. However, in the seventy-sixth minute, an amazing goal by a Virabina striker meant that the scores were now tied. Much like Arnold's shoelaces.

The rest of the match was spent trying to avoid the Viriballs trying to score a second goal. Thankfully, play was kept in the center of the pitch with some fantastic footwork from the midfielders, including Dr Cooper, who was substituted for Mr Hultar. However, a few shots did land on target, and Mr Jackson perforned some amazing saves in order to keep the ball out of the net, including one against a terrific shot from Arnold, who was getting confused.

However nothing came of it, and the game ended in a one-all draw, a good sign for out match against Eastfield Lodge tomorrow. Phew, all this football is really tiring me out.

Because if we don't get through the group stages, that's definitely not true.
Okay, question for Burchadinger; "Are you using a score generator or your head?" If it's score generator, fair enough. If it's your head, you really hate me... :(

The clock was ticking down, down, down. Over the noise of the chants, the drums, the manager's shouts and his own beating heart, Dei Ormache heard the clock in his head. Ticking down, burying their chances.

They'd started off so well. Milian had headed in the opener, and then Soter had scored the second. It all looked bright, but then Loonaterian answered and suddenly they were losing, instead of three points they were now earning zero.

And so it came to this. Scrambling for the ball, 3-2 down, with the clock ticking down. He didn't dare look up at the scoreboard to see just how much time he had, but he knew that as the lone striker it was down to him.

Belarte was running down the left wing, and Ormache moved into open space as the pass was played to him. Then there he was, alone with the keeper, feint to the right, touch to the left and stop everything because the whistle blew. Offside.

Cursing, Ormache showed a thumbs-up to Belarte and walked backwards wishing he could punch the linesman and that time-wasting goalie who played a short pass anyway.

Ormache chased after the defenders' passes, knowing he looked like an idiot. Anything was worth a chance at that point, and Bordato recovered the ball eventually. Wait, what was Bordato doing? He wasn't supposed to run that far, why didn't he cross already?

Suddenly an idea dawned on him, something they'd practiced back at Ituraitz but never actually done in a match. He couldn't be sure it was what the winger wanted, but at least it was a plan.

Ormache sprinted into the box, moved towards the far post and called wildly for the ball. The two closest defenders moved to mark him, leaving one to deal with Bordato. Far too few, as he skipped past and looked up at Ormache, opposite him. Still looking at the stiker, Bordato kicked the ball into the open space at the edge of the goal area for Bayardo Morriyas to come running and fire at the unexpecting keeper.

3-3, and the clock didn't sound so bad anymore.

Marcel Tooren had lost both shoes, his jumper, his flag, his scarf, most of the contents of his wallet, and his sense of dignity. But he didn't care. He was the spokesperson for the Twitchers, the official supporters group for the Terns, or the FPI national football team to be precise. He had been to every exhibition match, been to every national trial, been to training sessions, been to meetings with the FPIFA, and been to every friendly match. Always leading the support, always leading the songs, always organising the flags, and always shouting for his idols.

He had been the first to buy his ticket to Burchadinger in the hope that the Terns could make an impact, however small, on the competitive international stage at the first attempt, and now, hie wildest dreams were coming true.

He'd watched in amazement as Polar Islandstates bossed Zitru around for two thirds of the match, and bowed down in amazement at Skye's incredible performance, and for the hours in between the matches he was kind of floating around in a daze. People were talking about Polar Islandstates in a good way, and he liked it very much.

And now? Now it was getting better and better.

Kazzoria had taken the lead through Trent from some early domination of possession, and it looked at first as though the more experienced of the teams were going to drag the Terns back down to earth. Even Blonqvist's goal from van Jendrisen's cross on 27 didn't settle the nerves, as Lee reinstated Kazzoria's lead soon after. Marcel had to lead the fans into song and dance at the start of the second half, much to the jeers of the Kazzorian supporters. But they weren't laughing in the fifty second minute, as Skye's powerful drive hit the top of the net to take his tournament tally to 4 in 2 games. And with Jamie Sirea looking more and more rattled with every attack from their team, Marcel had lead the chanting for van Sorensen and Lindegaard to be introduced, with Ackermann-Finn injured.

And so that brings us to now. With Marcel missing so many of his possessions. You see, Marcel, and about 20,000 other Twitchers, have all just gone a bit mental. Skye played a ball into the centre, and Lindegaard pulled it back for wonderkid van Sorensen to dribble past the Kazzorian defence and place a shot into the corner of the net. It was 3-2. With only ten minutes or so left. And with the second win in two within their grasp, and qualification to the knockout stages looking more and more possible, Marcel and company went mental in the stands. Flags, trumpets, flares, you name it.

Maybe tomorrow they'd look on the games yet to come and reason that they've not qualified yet, and that they should calm down and not count their chickens. But for now, Marcel was on cloud nine.

Dew from the showers floated through the dressing room like clouds. From above, one could hear the distinct roar of fans cheering, drumming, and stamping their feet in unison. The kind of sounds that when your on the pitch, you have to zone out in order to do well. In the locker room, though, even the most experienced of players cant help but to feel nervous.

"Ok, guys, ten minutes 'till we walk out to the pitch", said Jeff, our manager, "Wrap up in the shower."

Most teams would be on the pitch warming up right now but, it's a tradition of the Nats' to do their showers right before the match. Supposedly, it's supposed to clense the soul and make us play better or some bullshit but, I never got the purpose. So, instead I sat out near the cubbies near Jeff. We just kinda sat there, enjoying the sound of, well not really silence but a bunch of men in the shower.

I know what your probably thinking. No, that's not what they do.

Anyway, getting back on point, Jeff and I just sat there, both of us thinking but, for some reason or another, he decided to break the silence.

"Why do you play?" he asked. I was taken aback at his question and how it just materialised out of thin air.

"Is this some kind of," I paused to find the right word, "Test?"

"That's not important; perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't.", one of the other things that I've noticed is that his demeanor was completely different from when he is coaching. It was startling but, almost soothing.

"To make a living doing something I love, I guess?", I trailed up at the end because I wasn't really sure.

"So, you say you love it," In way, his voice almost sounded like that of an old guru like you'd see in a play or a movie. Wise beyond his years. Hunched over with a little cane. Ha... Anyway, getting back on track he said, "So, what if you suddenly no longer got paid. Would you play then?"

"I don't think so, I need to earn a living."

"Then maybe it's not your love for the game that's making you play" he said before switching back into coach mode, "Ok guys, 5 minutes. Ya'll need to get dressed.

As the rest of the guys came out of the showers, towels wrapped around them I couldn't help but to think about what he said. I mean I loved football but, in a way, I could see how he had a point, and a real good one.

Jeruselem coach Princess Shay, Princess Sofia and a reporter not familiar with Jeruselemites ...

Reporter: Hi, you're the Jeruselem team right?
Shay: Well, yes. We're hard to miss around these parts.
Sofia: Don't you know who the Dallas girls are?
Reporter: Err, you look related to her. You're daughter?
Shay: No, this one isn't mine. She belongs to Helena.
Reporter: what about the rest of the team?
Shay: Oh, no relation. They are supposedly Nuns.
Reporter: Oh I see. So how related are you two?
Sofia: I'm the daughter of Princess Helena Troi who's the daughter of Princess Marie-Antoinette who's the sister of Princess Jacinta who is mother of Shay here.
Reporter: Oh I get it
Shay: I'm the granddaughter of Dazza Dallas, she's a grand-granddaughter of Dazza Dallas.
Reporter: Ah, I thought you looked familiar.
Shay: I'm actually part Jew. She isn't, she's very Qazian.
Reporter: Like from Qazox.
Shay: So what do you want to know?
Sofia: We love a chat.
Reporter: As defending champs of the Burchadinger Cup II, are you confident.
Shay: Well, there's more teams in this cup this time round but we think we might have a chance.
Sofia: These Nuns aren't wimps, serving God doesn't mean you have to be a indoors all the time.
Reporter: Why are all the team named after gemstones?
Shay: I don't know. I'm just a coach, I'm not a Nun.
Sofia: I don't know either even if I go to same school as the girls.
Reporter: The team lost today, what happened?
Shay: This isn't any national team or Jeruselem Premier League team. It's just a bunch of girls chucked together because no one could spare the time to send a proper team.
Sofia: It's just like school holidays for me.
Reporter: The girls don't seem used to big crowds
Shay: We have a football field at the school but it's a bit small. This is their first outside Jeruselem and the school.
Sofia: Oi
Shay: Except for this one, she's well travelled.
Reporter: So what went wrong today?
Sofia: They just have to learn not to panic. You got TVs everywhere and all these people watching, they aren't used to this attention.
Reporter: Any time to panic?
Shay: Nah, not yet. We'll learn from the loss. It will make us stronger.
Sofia: I hate losing.
Reporter: Is she always like this?
Shay: Yes, just like her mother and grandmother.
Reporter: So what next?
Shay: I can't see anyone sending an A grade team to this small cup and it seems everyone is sending kids here. I think my girls will be better for the loss and we'll bounce back for a win. The girls won't want to lose again.
Sofia: Losing is for ... losers
Reporter: I noticed she's wearing the number 13.
Shay: None of Nuns wanted that number but then it's the number Dazza Dallas used all her life when as a player. A Dallas always wears the number 13.
Reporter: What number did you wear as a player?
Shay: Number 69
Reporter: Sounds like a kinky number.
Sofia: That's not half the story.
Reporter: That's for the time.
Shay: No problems, we've got plenty of stories to tell people.
Sofia: Yeah, even some videos if you like.
Reporter: Err, thanks.

A stunned silence reigned in Astograth's bus, as Urgutz Belarte glanced around at his teammates. Finally, he leaned towards the one sitting next to him.

"Hey, Egoitz. Did we really just beat Jeruselem?"

The right winger looked at him for a long minute, before responding.

"Yes. Yes we did."

"So why aren't we all, like, celebrating?"

"They were girls, dude."

"Yeah, so?"

"High school girls."

"Yeah, so?"

Egoitz frowned and looked at him in silence for another minute. He looked about to say something, but then turned away and gazed out the window. Urgutz poked him.

"Come on, man. What's up, why aren't we happy?"

"Because they're high school girls! We'd be a disgrace if we didn't beat them!"

Having understood, Urgutz turned around and crossed his arms.

"It's still Jeruselem. It's still one more cap."

Egoitz sighed and ran his palm down his face.

"Yes, Urgutz. It's still Jeruselem. And it's still a cap."

"Buggrit."

"What? We made some good notes didn't we?"

"Yes Sol, but did you see the score?"

"Of course I did Morten, Kazzoria won 3-0, why?"

"Have you not thought about what this means for us?"

"Um, we now know a bit more about how to hit Zitru?"

"I meant points wise."

"Oh, no. Why?"

"Kazzoria won, meaning we're not through yet. Had they drawn, we would have been guaranteed a spot in the next round. As it is we'll have to make sure of it in the next two matches."

"Well, fair enough but we can get points in this group still right? We're the only team left in the competition with a 100% record after all."

"Maybe so, but we're not new boys anymore. Teams will be wising up to us."

"You have a point I suppose. See you tomorrow?"

"Too right, we'll drill them on defence first, before having a little chat about Zitru's left back situation"

"Ha det, man"

"Ha det."
