France has declared its support for the rebels and says that the government the rebels are setting up will be recognised as the legitimate Libyan government by the French.

Within the hour, Libyan state TV claimed to know a 'grave secret', related to his election campaign, that will see Sarkozy removed from office and possibly tried.

Maybe they'll go mope around in the streets for a few days. They seem to like doing that, and it's kind of cute. Awwww, little Frenchies all grumpy :P

I can't remember a more misplaced government decision since Iraq. Sarkozy recognises a faction that by the end of that day is on its knees, and to boot finds the threat of Gaddafi dishing out as much dirt on him as possible. I think this is going to seriously damage France's- and by extension the EU's- international standing.

Meanwhile, how long do we think before Gaddafi retakes the whole country? God, I hope it's not 9th April- my birthday. To have my birthday as a Jamahiriyah national holiday would be quite annoying.

Why? You can use it as a selling point, "The Libyans worship me as a god! My birthday is a national holiday over there!"

Except everyone would know that it would be commemorating a massacre with some grisly summary executions.

Maybe it'll be St. Patrick's Day- March 17th- so people would be unsure whether sporting the colour green would be appropriate on that day from then on.

I doubt that St. Patrick's Day will give unintentional support to Gaddafi because the colour is very very basic: the colour of nature too. And of course, Libyan State TV claiming a lot of things and a lot still being discussed on how to end the conflict, and I think Gaddafi's future is bleak either way as France has cut him off recognition. Expect more governments to follow suit.

Gaddafi seems to think that the thousands of people who protested for more reforms and freedoms in Green Square a few weeks ago have all disappeared and no longer exist. Even in Zawiyah there were hundreds of protesters and the last number I saw in the news was 40 dead and he expects to have no more problems? He's claimed that he's taken that city at least 5 times already what makes him think he has completely removed any threat. The guy's delusional. The sooner he goes the better. The sooner the Libyans allow the west to help militarily the better.

Alright, dude, whatever you say. Just know this: a great idea can never be snuffed out. Once it spreads, there's no stopping it...

Even if you attempt to assassinate me or ban me or otherwise stop my ideas from spreading... I will find you, and I will beat you up moderately hard. And my ideas will still live on!

You refuse to acknowledge the overall primacy of the proto-indo-european religion to Asatru; I won't comment on my feelings for you bro.

I am simply showing solidarity with a comrade.

What?

I use it to refer to communists, too. Communist dictators and slavs mostly. As I am a great admirer of the slavic narod myself, and their history is intricately tied to communism.

I mean no offense. Though I doubt Gaddafi would be offended.

Josip Broz was a man I admire. So is Gaddafi. Both are leftist theoreticians/dictators. I support both.

What exactly is your issue? If you consider my beliefs trolling, report me. But the moderators on this forum are wise, and may see through your claims.

Gaddafi is far from left, he is a rightist, he hordes his wealth and lets his people starve.

Gaddafi is not liked by a large amount of his people and he had ordered the killing and torture of civilians.
Josip Tito was loved by his people and cared for them.

Their is no comparison.

They were both totalitarian. Both disliked the west. Both were put in power by communists/associated with communism. And both were mean to civilians, though Tito was a bit better at hiding it. After the war many Ustashe were given sentences disproportional to their crimes (though I dislike the Ustasha, this was not very nice).

I see many sources of comparison. And ultimately, why not address both with the endearing term 'Comrade'? Or 'Drougar' or 'Tavarisch'?

That's because they work with the nazi's and carried out war-crimes like burning down entire villages and burying people alive. Tito gave them what they deserved.

Yugoslavia's foreign policy was also neutral. The state was a founder of the non-aligned-movement.
