First, the KPFA wishes to extend a big thank you to the World Cup organizers for allowing them to host this prestigious international mini-tournament. We are confident that we will not eschew this great opportunity, and we wish the best of luck to the six teams that will be visiting our country over the course of the competition.

Five stadia have been selected for use: the Ice Cube in Dyurtyuli, Banditi Zaliv Stadion in Oktyabrsk, Avazhughij Arena in Pkethat Šede, Oberlander'ajat Stidiyama in Urajbina, and Graha'ajat Stidiyama in Zhevassi. These are some of the most esteemed stadia in Kagdazka and Pazhujebu. Every team will play one match in each of these stadia. A schedule explaining the location of each match will be released at a later date.

The Nation

Kagdazka is a cold territory in the far northeastern regions of Siberia. The country's terrain is a mix of mountains, taiga, and tundra. In the southwest, where a large percentage of the population live, it is considerably warmer during summertime than in other parts of the country. Kagdazka is nearly landlocked, but for a tiny corridor that runs along both sides of the Dyurtyuli River, which empties into the Pacific Ocean. For years, Kagdazka was ruled by a pro-capitalist dictatorship to its east, and these corporatists brutally discriminated against the ethnic Russian Kagdaz minority, who for cryptic reasons have always identified themselves with the color wisteria. So terrible was the oppression from the east that all wisteria items, whether they were flags, bedsheets, microwaves, bicycles, or even flowers, were confiscated and destroyed on sight. Consequently, the name of this imperialist former ruler is not to be spoken by anyone in the country under penalty of death.

Pazhujebu, formerly known as the Pazhujeb Islands, is an island territory in the Atlantic about 700 miles off the coast of west Africa. The nation is notable for having been closed off to the outside world from 269 to 1926 AD. The islands had never been occupied by any except the Pazhujebis and had never been noticed by European cartographers until it was accidentally run across in the 20th century. The country's population are found to have been mostly genetically descended from Indian peoples. There are various explanations for this phenomenon; but the Pazhujebi story is that they were violently expelled from Rome by Claudius II. Pazhujebis are known for being frustrating at the best of times, and militant at the worst. They are vehemently protective of their independence, and have in the main refused to adapt to modern society or technology (though hefty exceptions have been made for the arms manufacturing industry and for the national monorail service).

Population: 2.661 million
Typical Weather: Clear, windy, dry, extremely cold (-°23 C/-°10 F)

A massive and cosmopolitan city in the far north of Kagdazka, Dyurtyuli is a capital for culture and enterprise in the Federation. It and its surrounding tundra are considered an autonomous region by the Federation's central government. Non-football-related activities for visitors are the city's many art galleries or theaters.

Stadium: The Ice Cube (81,000 seats)
Club Tenants: Angels, Yastrabi

It isn't that hard to figure out why this staium is known as the Ice Cube. A cubic glass design on the outside of the stadium mirrors the architectural styles of its city, Dyurtyuli, nicknamed the City of Ice. The venue is the home of both Angels and Yastrabi and is the largest in the country. However, visitors should beware that Dyurtyuli is not only called the City of Ice because of its glass buildings, it is also bitterly cold all the time. Luckily, the Cube has heating systems near the pitch, so players don't suffer too much. Fans, though...

Population: 127,000
Typical Weather: Overcast, calm, light freezing rain, chilly (°0 C/°32 F)

A growing city in the east, Oktyabrsk is Kagdazka's only port and consequently is a hub of travel between the Federation's constituent nations of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu. Also a major center of trade, it is wealthy but a bit seedy. There is very little to do here, but there is a large monument to soldiers killed in Kagdazka's wars.

If you decide to go to a match at this stadium, don't be off-put by the neighborhood you have to walk through to get there. Yes, it's nestled into the northwest corner of the city, in a dull part of town near the new shipping docks; there are no five-star hotels or swanky restaurants for blocks in every direction (though there is a brewery). Luckily, the stadium itself is strange but iconic: it has a cheerful cyan-detailed retractable roof and no stand on the side that faces the bay. The pitch runs right up to the icy sea, where walruses float atop icebergs.

Host City: Pkethat Šede, Pazhujebu

Population: 740,000
Typical Weather: Clear, calm, hot, and extremely humid (°33 C/°92 F)

A rather new city that has only sprung up in the last few decades because of overpopulation in other parts of Pazhujebu, Pkethat Šede is located on Šede Island, which was for years left uninhabited because of its mysterious jungle. Legend holds that spirits reside there. You can have a guide take you on a hike in the jungle if you like.

Stadium: Avazhughij Arena (47,000 seats)

As residents of Pkethat Šede travel south into the impenetrable purple-and-green-tinted jungle in the interior of the island, they are bound to see Avazhughij Arena, home of Šede Island Shadows, rising out of the undergrowth. It almost looks simply like a huge glass wall, as only one stand is visible from beneath the cover of leaves and violet Šede fruit blossoms. The stadium is quite newly built, paid for by corporate money; verily, Avazhughij is a local timber company that purchased naming rights to the field. Bring earplugs if you have to, it gets loud here.

Host City: Urajbina, Pazhujebu

Population: 1.497 million
Typical Weather: Clear, slightly breezy, dry, very warm (°29 C/°84 F)

The hub of Mahathan Pazhujebi culture, Urajbina is a deeply proud city; almost all residents still wear the traditional purple turban that symbolizes Pazhujebi nationality and identity. If you're looking for history museums, Urajbina is the place to be, but it's got a couple gorgeous beaches too if that's more your cup of tea.

Stadium: Oberlander'ajat Stidiyama (41,000 seats)

Though it pales in comparison to the size of other stadia in the Pazhujeb Islands, this stadium (named after Starblaydi legend Jaime Oberlander) is one of the most beloved in the entire country. Nestled into an ancient neighborhood in Urajbina, the stadium was once a Roman-style coliseum and is now home to club tenants Urajbina ZL. The stands are mostly made of stone, but an elaborate draping system all around the exterior and interior of the stadium gives it the appearance of being made wholly of gold, red, and blue fabric.

Host City: Zhevassi, Pazhujebu

Population: 50,000
Typical Weather: Misty and overcast, calm, rain (sometimes heavy), warm (°24 C/°75 F)

Zhevassi alone is nothing more than a large town, but it is an good example of the very independent-minded Zahuj Peninsula, where there are many of these small cities. They have a culture much more mindful of the Indian and African aspects of their identity. Many visitors will choose to stay in the much larger nearby city of Fajr.

Stadium: Graha'ajat Stidiyama (79,000 seats)
Club Tenants: Zhevassi

The home field of Zhevassi ZL, this stadium is nestled up in the misty hills east of the town and is made mostly from wood but meticulously decorated from pitch to stand to roof to entrance with soapstone sculptures, many of which are massive and built into the architecture. In Pazhujebi, the name of the stadium means "Stadium of the Planet," which tells a layman the sort of pride residents of the small Zahuj Peninsula town have in this grand park and in their club side. Visitors will enjoy themselves, but should be warned: they will get wet... it rains a lot.

Schedule

Due to concerns about different teams having to be subjected to the frigid Dyurtyuli cold at different times in their schedules, officials at the KPFA have effectively said "let's just get it out of the way" by releasing a fixture list that sees all three matches on Matchday One played in the City of Ice (meaning that all six teams will play their first match in Dyurtyuli). Though concern for fairness was the original catalyst for the decision, the KPFA has since coordinated with the Dyurtyuli Administrative Council to throw a massive kick-off bash in the Federation's largest city which will invite fans, players, and press together to all experience the chill of the north at once.

From there on out, matches will be spread among the other four venues. All six teams will still play one game in each of the five stadia.

Valladares Interzonal Information

First of all, we would like to thank the Football Federation of Babbage and the Cassadaigua Association for Soccer Excellence for giving us the chance to host this important stage of the World Cup. We hereby want to promise we shall not defraud them and shall do everything in our power to ensure that this mini-tournament is a success. Also, we would like to congratulate and wish the best of luck to Akbarabad, Cafundeu, Jeruselem, Pasarga, Rejistania and Tarrentum, who have managed to reach this stage and travel to our marvelous nation, and encourage them to do their best in order to overcome this last challenge and make it to the finals.

After long consultations between World Cup officers, the twenty Valladar Super League teams, the respective local authorities and us, three stadia have been selected to host the Valladares Interzonal matches, in the three most important cities of the nation: the recently refurbished City of Metropolis Stadium in Metropolis, the Olympic Stadium in Carloburgo and the Alain Tramontin Stadium in Eterna City. It has been decided that all the six qualified teams will have to play at least one match in each host city. A full schedule will be released at a later date after further consultations with World Cup officers. So, here we release a guide with every thing you will want to know about our nation and this Interzonal.

First of all, we would like to warmly welcome you to our nation, and we hope the experience will be as enjoyable for all those involved from Valladares as it is for all those travelling to Valladares and the people watching the matches worldwide.

I am King Charles V, the Head of State of the United Kingdom of Valladares, Overseas Ruler of Nileville and Whirl Islands, and Their Respective Colonies, Territories and Dominions, to give my full title. You will find that we are different in ways, and we are similar in ways to your own nations. We ask that these differences be respected, from our rule of law to our customs, in the same way that we will respect your right to speak your mind freely here without fear of prosecution.

While not wishing to be a killjoy, we hope that the following be noted so as to make your experience here a pleasant one.

First and foremost – we often use Spanish to speak among ourselves. Spanish is our official language. English, French and Portuguese are widely spoken (and also official in some regions and federally), but every valladar citizen or migrant in Valladares must at least dominate Spanish or be fluent in English. If you do not understand Spanish, you can bring or hire your own interpreter.

The number for emergencies is 123, reachable from any phone, be it mobile or a land-line. Inside some companies, you may find you first need to dial a 1 to reach an external line before dialing 123 as usual, though all companies (from “big business” to restaurants and shops) and other public venues (museums, stadiums etc) are required by law to display adequate signing advising on this.

Emergency vehicles are marked with the name of the service (be it Police, Fire or Ambulance), and are also equipped with a siren and flashing blue lights. If you encounter one of these vehicles while the lights, the sirens or both are active, please take extra care, and if necessary pull over at the nearest and safest opportunity, using your indicator (turn signal) to ensure that the driver of the emergency vehicle is aware of your actions.

Though unlikely, if you need medical care in Valladares, it will not come with a cost to visitors with the appropriate travel insurance. You will find our hospitals are state of the art, with the best equipment, treatments and employees available.

The fire service in Valladares is also well equipped and able to deal with any eventuality.

You will find that all police officers are armed with either a standard pistol or a semi-automatic rifle depending on the branch of the Police Force (City, State and National) they belong to. However, this does not mean they should not be approached if you have a question. Police Officers have excellent training, and patrol areas they are familiar with, so if you are lost, they are often the best people to consult. First and foremost, though, they are keepers of the peace, and will not hesitate to involve themselves in anything they feel is likely to endanger members of the public, or cause criminal damage to private property.

Onto sport – Valladares has a established football/soccer heritage, playing in some international competitions around the world. We play football on both international and club levels, having 3 professional divisions before reaching federal and local levels. Our National Football Team, nicknamed "Le Tricolore" or "Les Gones" entered to the international stage in the Baptism of Fire for the World Cup 47, and it has achieved some important achievements, despite its short international history. As for our clubs, our best teams are Metropolis Alligators, from Metropolis (our capital city), Tannenberg FC and Eterna Stars, which have reached important stages in prestigious club competitions like the TakilQuip Champions' Cup and Globe Cup.

As capital (and largest) city of the nation, Metropolis is the place where the main government offices and several important national companies are headquartered. The city is located in the south of Valladares, at the confluence of the Danubio and Pavia rivers. Football is the main sport in the city, as Metropolis is home to 11 professional teams, with the most important ones being Metropolis Alligators, Marinos Metropolis and Nacional (all of them playing in the Valladar Super League, the main professional football league in the nation). However, not everything in the city is sport, as the city also houses several famous art galleries, museums, theathers and monuments. The Metropolis Zoo, located in the south of the city is also a recommended place to visit.

The City of Metropolis Stadium, located in the district of Poblado, in the southeast of the city, was built in 1953 for the VI Juegos Nacionales, held in Metropolis. After the event, Club Nacional started playing their matches there, however, with Nacional's downfall in the 80's and 90's, the stadium became a "white elephant" and was ignored by most of the local governments of the moment. With the nation being selected to host an Interzonal for World Cup 54 qualifying, the District Mayoralty decided to refurbish the old stadium for the event. Fans coming to matches at this stadium will have the chance to enjoy delicious samples from the valladar cuisine, as some of the most famous, renowned and important restaurants of the city (and the nation) are placed near to the stadium, in Poblado, which is one of the wealthy districts in the city.

Carloburgo

The Olympic Stadium, located in the Midlands Borough of Carloburgo, in the west of the city, was built in 1990 for the XVI Juegos Nacionales, held in Carloburgo. Tannenberg FC inherited the stadium after the event, playing at the stadium their matches until VSL 10, when their new stadium was opened. After this, the Carloburgo Mayoralty tried to convince both AC Tallin and Ajax Carloburgo (the other main teams in the city) to move to the Olympic Stadium, but the idea was rejected by both clubs, and Carloburgo Phoenix started playing at the stadium. This stadium is one of the most modern stadia in the nation and held the honor of being the best stadium in Valladares before the Metropolis Dome, National Stadium (both in Metropolis), and the White Meadow Arena (also in Carloburgo) were built.

Eterna City

Eterna City, the third most important city in the nation, is located in the north of the nation, at the shore of the Eterna river. Known as the "City of Sunflowers", and due to its closure to Canalave, the most important port in Valladares, the capital of the Eterna state is one of the most important economic and sporting hubs of the nation, as it is the home for the basketball and volleyball national teams, and three professional football teams: Eterna Stars, Club Osum and Eterna Celtic, with the Stars as the most important of the three. This city also has a great nightlife, and the Northern Park, the biggest city park in the nation, is located here. Also, visitors cannot leave without a visit to Mont-Blanc, the highest mountain in the nation, and always present in any picture taken at the city.

One of the oldest football stadia still in use in the nation, the Alain Tramontin Stadium is located in the Villeneuve district, in the south of Eterna City. It was opened in 1966, and the first and sole tenants of the ground have been the Eterna Stars, who have played at this stadium since their foundation in 1969. It has been the subject of at least three renovations to prevent its deterioration, and remains as the most important stadium in the Eterna state. As it is surrounded by houses, the sale of alcohol and the presence of away ultras near the stadium is restricted by the local authorities, and since you will come during our rainy season, be careful: three of the stands have no roof!

CITY INFO:
Qazox City- The Capital of Qazox. Probably the most ethnically diverse city in Qazox, as pretty much every nationality has at least someone living there. Nightlife is decent, but most bars close at 1:00am. (RL equivalent= DC with LA's diveristy)

Rockport: Qazox' Riveria City. Near the Qazox's vineyards, the best beaches, and boasting of Qazox' best weather; Rockport is a city where the fun never seems to stop. Only drawback is poor public transportation. (RL Equivalent= Miami with a Monte Carlo feel)

SaxerVilla: Qazox' oldest City. Home of the busiest port in Qazox, SaxerVilla is one of those cities that struggles to maintain it's past while looking to the future. You'll find historical bulidings next to 60-story Skyscrapers and the occasional tourist trap on the same block. (RL Equivalent: Boston with San Franciscan weather)

New Bruxen: Qazox' Little dirty secret. Casinos, Casinos and Casinos. Also Skiing, Mountain climbing and other things, but mostly casinos. (RL Equivalent: Las Vegas but with colder weather and mountains)

Fromburg: Qazox' 2nd City. There's always that one city in a nation that no matter what they do, they will be considered 2nd best. In Qazox, that's Fromburg. Has a better night-life than Qazox City, and is home to the World Famous Ganja Vodka plant. (RL equivalent: Chicago and Atlanta)

Pika City: Qazox' Spiritual Home. Despite being the center of the Qazian religion, Pika City is not the typical 'Holy City'; a thriving music scene, the center of Qazox' Silicon Valley and a large Asian population makes for a interesting city to visit. But be warned there's no bars within the city limits, excepting the stadium. (RL Equivalent: Austin with a bit of Salt Lake City and Singapore thrown in).

We congratulate you on your football team having qualified to progress into the next stage of this World Cup competition, and on having been so fortunate as to be chosen to participate in the section of this that is being held in our own country. Here is some information about this contest, which we are calling ‘The Interzonal of the Bears’, and a Visitors’ Guide to help people who have not already visited us beforepaw. You have our permission to make as many copies of these documents as you want.


Stadiums

As was already announced during our bid to host this portion of the tournament, three stadiums will be used for its matches:

1/. Wimbley Stadium: This is the home ground of the 'Bear-Belles' themselves. Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site —shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Belles’ former “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans (or comparably sized beings of other species) into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 10’600 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) as it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…

3./ ‘New Grafford Park’: The home ground of First Division side ‘WestPort Wonders’, this is widely acknowledged as one of the National League’s best stadiums and has a capacity comparable to Wimbley. WestPort is situated just inside the border with Mikitivity, and has even more of a thriving Human element in its population than does Council Groves.


Subject to confirmation from the Cup’s primary hosts, as they are in overall charge of scheduling, each of these sites will be “home” to two of the competing teams — one zonal champion, and one zonal runner-up, in each case — as follows:

Northlands _ Starblaydia, Orlkjestad ;
New Grafford _ Kelssek, Loonaterian.

Each team will have opportunities to practice both at this “home” stadium and at another professional-level or university ground that is located in the same general area, with the lower-ranked of the two sides at each location having first choice between these:
Wimbley _ Heroes’ Park (home of the ‘Harlequins’, who were last year’s National League champions), and National University (recently refurbished, this was briefly the Belles’ original home ground before construction of the Plumtrees Park stadium), both in Council Groves;
Northlands _ Birren’s Field (home of the NorthPort Navigators), and Uttarh-Vahrl (home of the NorthPort Raiders), both in NorthPort;
New Grafford _ Stadium of Wonders (WestPort University’s ground), and Swanny Glade (home of the WestLands Wildings, who are relatively new to the League but doing impressively well).


Travel

There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity ([OOC] which may have CTEd from an OOC viewpoint, but still exists IC as far as I & the bears are concerned...[/OOC]) but extra services will be organised on that route...) Bearing in mind that WestPort actually lies so close to our border with Mikitivity it can best be reached from abroad by rail or air from that nation. Visitors to NorthPort may either travel to the Northlands directly, by ship (either directly or via one or another of our neighbours) or air (definitely transferring to an intra-regional flight along the way), or could enter the Mainland as if going to one of the other two venues and then take the train to the city of ‘Gate-o’-the-North’ where a set of ancient [pre-Ursine] “Gates” provides a quick & easy connection between our country’s two sections…


Hotels

Accommodation for the visiting teams, reasonable numbers of accompanying staff, and a few media personnel from each nation involved will be provided (in good quality, although not ‘luxury’, hotels) at the expense of the Interzonal’s sponsors.
You are asked to make it clear to those people that this offer does not, however, cover either drinks in the hotels’ bars or any room service.

Each of the visiting teams will have several messengers from this service made available to them for speedy & confidential communication with their homelands.


Consulates

Any nation whose team and (hopefully) fans will be coming to one of our cities, and that does not already have a Consulate established in that place, will be welcome to open one there on a temporary basis — duration negotiable — for their assistance.

About Delaclava:
Each nation will be traveling a lot across Delaclava, but with our efficient and fast transnational monorail systems, going from one end of the country to the other doesn't take very long, and the monorails are really comfortable too. The teams playing in Blah-dee-blah and Filbert will also have a chance to go on a bit of a boat trip and see the lovely waters and sights that surround Delaclava's coasts.

As for lifestyle and culture: we're very cultured people who love to mix the traditions of many different nations together. If your nation isn't entirely isolationist or xenophobic, odds are you'll probably see one of your favorite restaurants from your home country somewhere here. Influences are strongest from nearby Atlantian Oceania nations, particularly Sarzonia and Pacitalia. Also, if you've been waiting for a chance to use drugs without getting busted, here it is. Weed, crack, acid, narcotics - you name it, we've got it. Technically, not all of it's allowed here, but the black market really stimulates the economy and is probably one of the only things that's keeping Delaclava's notoriously bad economy afloat. Other than that, it's a pretty relaxed nation - no death penalty, extensive civil rights, great colleges. But don't try to bring any homophobia, racism, or other bigotry here. There's no hate crime legislation here, but we can't promise that there won't be a bit of vigilantism.

YOU’RE ALMOST THERE......

Congratulations on making the interzonals and if you are in this interzonal you are closer then any other nation in other interzonals to making it to the World Cup. That is because you are already in the correct region! Welcome to One Big Island, welcome to Newmanistan. Let us be your gateway towards those other OBI nations that you have been targeting since qualifying began.

I) Government/Geography
– Newmanistan is an Empire, ruled by Emperor Michael IV. Though sometimes people view an Emperor of a nation as being a heartless dictator, Michael IV generally cares about the people, and Newmanistanians enjoy the same kind of freedoms that you’ll see in democratic nations. Perhaps one difference to be aware of is that the Empire does not tolerate criminality. Punishments for any kind of offenses are much greater then they would be in other nations. Be aware that smoking, even a cigarette, is illegal in Newmanistan. It is a capitalist society. With the take over of 70% of the eastern land that was once called Secristan, Newmanistan is now roleplayed to be the size (landmass-wise) of the United States from both west to east, and north to south.

II) Culture
– Newmanistanians probably aren’t much different then citizens of most nations in the world. They are sports-crazed, and are especially proud of their history in baseball, where they have won more World Baseball Classic championships then anyone else. Pretty much every sport has at minimum, a niche regional following somewhere. At present, they are very happy to see the Empire participating in the World Cup, and will be excited to see your teams play on home turf. Tourists may want to make note that there are no speed limits on an Newmanistanian roads.

III) Stadiums

Tundra Falls Proving Grounds- The World Cup 49 final was played here. Read more here; the page is outdated, but still informational. Tundra Falls is approximately 200 miles northwest of Pocono City (see next stadium).

Empress Jessica Stadium- Formerly referred to as Pocono City Stadium, located in the captial city of Pocono City. It is a modern, state of the art city, and Newmanistanians therefore take a lot of pride in it, and the beautiful 86,000-seat stadium is no different. There is a little bit of everything here. The city, also the largest in the Empire, sits on the shores of the Penthoria River.

Jeremy McAllister Stadium- Located in Putnam Lake which city sits in the southwestern part of the empire, and is often a vacation areas for many Newmanistanians. You will be playing at the simple but stunning 48,020-seat stadium named after “J-Mac” a true soccer legend: having scored the most goals in the Empire’s World Cup history, and his son also ranks in the top five. Putnam Lake is where they played their domestic soccer before each ended up going overseas.

The Jungle- Loudon, the city in which it is located, is in the Northern part of the Empire, though also sits on the shores of the Penthoria River. It is a traditional 62,000 seat stadium that gets very loud and gets its name due to the fact that local teams from Loudon are nicknamed, “The Leopards”.

Benedict Freeman Stadium- Named after the General that saw the annexation and occupation of the former Secristan when that nation ceased. It is located in the city of Jessicaville (once known as Amherst), and is the former Monopoly Stadium, though we have been remodeling the place. It can seat 90,000.

[Queer Poco el Mono Ara]

Welcome to Queer Poco el Mono Ara, home to the happiest citizens in Rushmore

We hope you’ll be just as happy when you come to visit and why wouldn’t you be, our glorious weather is all year round, our tourist locations will leave take your breath away and our hospitality will make you wish you never had to go home.

We all know the main reason you are here in our diminutive little slice of heaven, the World Cup Inter-Zonal qualifying stage. If your home country has made it here or you are a neutral who just came to soak up the atmosphere we hope you enjoy the one of the four stadiums that have been put forth to host the qualifying matches, The Estadio Victoria, The New World Stadium, The Jewel in the Desert or the Estadio de la Esperanza.

Estadio Victoria. The 60,000 all seater stadium is located on the outskirts of the tiny village of Ambrose and has been home to the Queer Poco el Mono Ara international team since the inception of a national team. The village of Ambrose is home to just over 2,000 people and regularly received over 30 times that many people in and around the outskirts for international football matches, as such Ambrose has a wealth of accommodation available, ranging from 5 star hotels to quaint bed and breakfasts to a camp site between the village and its neighbor Oxbridge. If village life isn’t your scene why not hop on a train and visit the capital city of Queer Poco el Mono Ara, Khaldoon. The bustling metropolitan city has anything you might want or need from tourists locations to trendy night spots and is only a 30 minute train ride away.

The Jewel in the Desert. The 60,000 all seater stadium was purpose built for the most recent Baptism of Fire held here in Queer Poco el Mono Ara and Nethertopia. A desert oasis amongst the white pyramids of Monolithia the Jewel in the Desert is an glorious sight to behold amongst the backdrop of ancient Queer Poco el Mono Ara. But just because it’s out in the desert doesn’t mean our visitors will feel isolated from civilization. The area is home to an opulent complex of hotels, restaurants, night clubs and high fashion boutiques for those of you looking to take an expensive souvenir home.

Estadio de la Esperanza. The 58,000 all seater stadium is the biggest stadium currently in use in the Pocoan football league, the Una Serie. Home to the League II side Real Minanda, the stadium is in the Southern city of Minanda. A thriving city a stone’s throw from the sea. Much like all big cities in Queer Poco el Mono Ara there is more to explore and to do once the football is over. Why not head over to the Minanda Museum of Curiosities or take a tour of the Coorsberg factory and see how we brew the country’s favorite lager.

The New World Stadium. The 60,000 all seater stadium was purpose built for the most recent Baptism of Fire held here in Queer Poco el Mono Ara and Nethertopia. Located on the overseas Pocoan island territory of Flynn’s Isle traveling to the stadium will allow you to see much more of Rushmore than you expected. Flights directly to the island take off from Khaldoon International Airport and during the qualifying campaign prices have been slashed to alleviate the burden of paying for air travel. If you don’t fancy flying why not hop aboard the ferry from Renato and head to Flynn’s Isle by sea. When there experience the laidback island life and enjoy being surrounded by beautiful scenery and the relaxing lapping of the sea.

What else can you do here in Queer Poco el Mono Ara?

Why not head North to the Pocoan border with Steroga and take a walk in the forests of Ridgemont. The scent of fresh pine and the refreshing air will clear your sinuses and the surroundings will be a feast for your eyes, just beware of the legendary Maltese Tiger said to roam the woods. If you’d rather be in the water head South to Renato and learn to windsurf, or if you are already experienced why not have a go ideal waters.

Indoor activities more your thing, why not experience the local cuisine? Our top locations to dine out include:

Go Sushi. With the abundance of fish off our coast seafood is something of a specialty here so head on down to one of our numerous Go Sushi bars and tuck in. If fish isn’t your bag you could always add a little spice and go to Hafeez’s and try one of their excellent curries. In a country built from the spice trade we have a knack for making scrumptious curries and Hafeez’s is the finest Pocoan curry restaurant. Or if you have a jonesing for fast food have a burger at the Double Meat Palace* or head over to Big Kahuna Burger*.

Hello! Welcome to Cotdelapoms, the jewel of the northwestern Goose Coast. Cotdelapoms is a densely populated, economically flimsy nation rooted primarily in the values of kindness, socialism and never ever admitting that you are wrong. And if you are visiting now for the Interzonal phase we are hosting- congrats! It is the dead of winter, blizzard season! Pack warmly, and bring an extra snood or two for the pitch.

Three cities will be hosting matches for the Interzonals, Montréal, Albionpool and Îles d'Elisabeth, but whilst you're visiting why not visit the rest of our fine nation, including Outremont, the film capital of Cotdelapoms, home of the Outremont International Film Festival, the ritziest event in Rushmore, which will be taking place shortly. Are you a fan of winter sports? If so, head out to Charlevoix, home of our nation's best skiing and snowboarding mountains. Do you like beer? Chambly is the brewery town to end all brewery towns, with all of our greatest brewers located in that general vicinity- from mass-market (but still quite tasty) Toussaint, to the world reknowned abbeys of Picard.

Of course, Cotdelapoms is most famous for its' abundant apple trees and being the nation that grows the most different types of apples of anywhere in the planet. From your common Pink Lady to the local flavours of the Morrissette or Soleil-Noir. Unfortunately, they were freshest a few months ago, but I'd still suggest heading to the nearest farmer's market (or large supermarket) and trying some of our countless varieties.

However, I'm sure you are most interested in hearing about the cities you will be visiting during this tournament so let's get right to it!

Albionpool

Albionpool is our nation's capital, despite being a predominantly Anglophone city in a heavily Francophone nation. It is also the primary capital of business, which is not something Cotdelapomais from outside of Albionpool are particularly trusting of. It is not the most culturally developed city in the country, instead focusing more on "important" things like business, government and much of Cotdelapoms' scientific development. Albionpool is also football mad, home of Cosmopolitan, Cotdelapoms' current champions in Série A, Sparta, the team who has won the most Série A titles, and Celtic, who are generally ok.

Albionpool has built the brand new Stade de Cotdelapoms, our new national football stadium especially for this event, and to potentially host future major tournaments. It also is the home of the Coupe Fritidien! final. The Stade de Cotdelapoms' holds 80,000 people and is an all-seater stadium. If you are staying in Albionpool, head over by taking the Metro to the Commonwealth stop. It will be the very large football arena everyone will be walking towards.

Montréal

Montréal is our nation's biggest city and the capital for modern art and music, with countless popular and influential artists and bands emerging from the city. The city is riddled with impressive graffiti and skews heavily younger in age demographically. When visiting you should take in a band at Le Metropolitain or Club Sauce, and definitely head over to the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal- or just head outside and check out some of the city's world famous street art murals. Montréal is hockey-mad, but also fond of football, and the local club is historically quite successful.

Montréal's matches will be played in Stade de la rue Acadié, which seats 42,000 people. It is an older stadium that is in need of some repair, but it rocks when it is packed and everyone is into it, which is often. The fans there are young and drunk and rowdy, so it's not the best place to be an opposition fan or nation. If you are staying in Montréal, take the Métro over to the Leo XIII stop and head up the hill, past the movie theatre and the Biodome.

Île d'Elisabeth

The city of Île d'Elisabeth is on an island in the Goose Bay. It is the home of many of Cotdelapoms' most famous authors and largest publishing houses. It is, as a result, considered one of the most literary cities in the world, although this reputation is slightly trumped up. Île d'Elisabeth is also very animal friendly, home to many zoos and rescue shelters. It gets some of the most severe weather in the country, so get ready for intense winds! When the city hosted the World Junior Hockey Championships, they improved infrastructure and built more hotels, so they are well suited to host this event.

Île d'Elisabeth's matches will be played at Stade Arnaud Livre, a 35,000 seat stadium that is home to Étoile Rouge, a club that was highly successful in the 80's but has struggled recently. It's fans are highly fickle and peculiar, more involved with their own in-jokes than being interested in the match at hand. They also are far more focused on their team's playing entertaining football than winning, save for some of the holdouts from the old days. Expect irreverent tifo displays and chants from the colourful local fans who will be attending the match along with you.

The interzonal phase of World Cup qualifying is just around the corner and as the host nation of one of the groups in that stage of the World Cup Sorthern Northland is set to welcome the teams, officials and supporters of Al-Mumtaz Albundania, Kulverint, Landau Institute, Sibirsky and Tynelia to these shores. Three different stadiums will be used to host matches during the internzonal qualification period and to give you a rough guide of each of those grounds, we've spoken to those that know them best, the fans who attend club matches at them week in week out. Using the format below we hope to give you a rough idea of what to expect.

And remember, no match ticket doesn't mean no travel. In each of the host cities a number of public areas such as squares and parks will have large screens erected within them to allow those without tickets to watch the matches whilst still being able to soak up the atmosphere around town, and best of all it will be free to watch matches within the so called 'Fanparks'. Finally, whilst no means complete, the locations of the three host cities can be seen on this map.

First up is Paddy Callaghan of STAB (Supporters Trust at Beningrad).

Stadium: James Connolly Stadium (capacity: 150,000)

City: Beningrad

Overview: The largest stadium in the capital of the nation, the James Connolly is the national stadium of Sorthern Northland, as well as the home of Beningrad Football Club, the current Sorthern Champions. The current stadium is actually the second to have stood on the site. The original had to be pulled down after irreparable damage was done to it during a series of devastating floods in Beningrad. Originally the stadium had only a capacity of 50,000, the rebuilt stadium though added an extra 100,000 to this.

Local transport: The James Connolly Stadium stops on both the city's tram and metro underground railway systems unsurprisingly serve the stadium. For those towards the southern end of the stadium the Casement Square stop on the underground is more convenient. Beningrad National, the hub of railway services in the city is less than half an hours walk from the stadium, whilst a number of bus routes also serve the area around the stadium.

Where to eat: With a number of Cafundulense immigrants living near the stadium, Cafoodia, a café set up and run by one of those immigrants, Mateus Costa, has become something of a food mecca on matchday. As well as serving delicious meals both before and after games it also sells a number of snacks which can be taken away and eaten during the match or at half-time.

Where to drink: Beningrad is spoilt for choices of drinking establishments. McDonnell's, a fifteen minute walk from the James Connolly and sitting on the banks of the Southern River though excels, having been voted the most welcoming pub to football fans in the capital for the last four years running. It has an ever changing selection of twelve beers on sale, six being local brews, three being from elsewhere within the country and the remaining three being from around the world.

What to see: As well as being home to the national team, Beningrad F.C. and a number of SNFA offices the stadium is also host to the National Football Museum. Whilst the exhibits mainly focus on Sorthern football, foreign football isn't ignored with football around the world being covered. An exhibition on the history of football within Candelaria And Marquez is currently proving to be particularly popular. Whilst entrance is free to the museum, only those with a valid match ticket will be permitted entry on matchdays.

Stadium: Whitecliff Stadium (capacity: 79,894)

City: Snowspire

Overview: Originally built to host Sorthern Northland matches whilst the James Connolly Stadium was being rebuilt, the Whitecliff Stadium takes it's name from a two-hundred metre high snow and ice covered cliff at one end of the stadium. The end of the pitch is set back some fifty metres from the cliff to allow for snow and ice fall. There is also a deep, electrically heated channel at the bottom of the cliff to allow fallen snow and ice to melt and flow away. With temperatures below zero all year round in Snowspire the stadium is widely considered the most hostile environment in the country for visiting teams.

Local transport: The nearest railway station is Snowspire Central, a twenty-five minute walk away. The number 48 bus, which can be caught from Snowspire Central, also serves the stadium, stopping outside the main entrance.

Where to eat: Despite the hostile environment, Snowspire is renowned for it's food. A twenty minute walk from the station, The Frozen Tree serves just about every Snowspire delicacy there is, ranging from smoked cod, to poached ox.

Where to drink: Vodka is the popular drink in Sorthern Northland, mainly as a way to warm against the cold (or alternativly as a quick way to get drunk enough to forget the cold) and Distillery Bar in Snowspire market in the centre of town is widely considered to have the best selection of drinks in Snowspire. Management also serve food and have announced that they will be attempting to attain recipes for dishes as well as drinks from each of the nations competing in Sorthern Northland during interzonal qualification.

What to see: The Distillery, mentioned above, offer tours to see their distilling equipment in action, with free samples being included within the tour. For those in need of a shopping fix the market in which the Distillery is based is worth a look. Of particular quality, perhaps unsurprisingly, are the numerous coat sellers.

Last, but by no means least, is Fionnán Ó Gairbhín of IPCT (Iontaobhas Peile Chorcaí Tacaíochta)

Stadium: Páirc Uí Rinn (capacity: 70,000)

City: Corcaigh

Overview: Relatively undeveloped Páirc Uí Rinn is the much loved home of Corcaigh, one of the more successful teams in Sorthern football. Where the home of the seven times Sorthern champions fails in terms of modern facilities it succeeds in quaintness and memories of a disappearing era. Despite it all that it serves it's purpose as a football stadium well, even if you might be best making sure you go to the toilet before arriving at the ground.

Local transport: 40 minutes walk from Corcaigh station, or a five minute walk from Avondale tram stop (with trams leaving regularly from Corcaigh station). The 49A, 10, 93, and 49B buses all stop within ten minutes walk of the ground.

Where to eat: Located on the coast, Corcaigh is renowned across the nation for seafood and there are no end to seafood restaurants in the city, the smell of fish & chips is omnipresent around the harbour area. The Whiskeyhouse, a former whiskey distillery, is perhaps unique however in that it invites customers to either catch their own food or buy directly from the local fishermen before bringing it to the restaurant to be cooked.

Where to drink: It is said in Corcaigh that as long as the Laoi (the river that flows through Corcaigh) flows in the city, so shall whiskey. The city is home to the largest whiskey festival in the nation, and conveniently that festival has been postponed so it can be held during the interzonal. Corcaigh is also recognised as brewing some of the best porters in Sorthern Northland, with the Rebel Arms, a twenty minute walk to the south of Páirc Uí Rinn being a backstreet gem acclaimed for it's selection of porters.

What to see: Whilst the Irish language is probably the most widely spoken language in Sorthern Northland and ever-growing Corcaigh likes to see itself as the Irish language capital of the nation. Part of this includes having the Ard-Mhúsaem na Gaeilge (Museum of Irish Language) documenting the influence that the language has had on the region and the nation itself.
