VENUES
Turtle Stadium
Location: Nemnenait
Capacity: 12,8000
Opening the qualification series as is tradition, the National Stadium of Sel Appa and home to the domestic Nemnen Turtles is a massive, world-class, and modern venue. Rebuilt from the ground up in the 2000s, it remains fresh to fans from all over. Amenities are replete with numerous food, shopping, and other entertainment options for all budgets. Transit is a cinch with the metro directly underground, providing a seamless journey from any direction. Nemnenait itself is a massive capital city blending cultures from Sel Appa and abroad. Visitors will find endless diversions between matches.
Matchday 1 vs. Oberour Ar Moro

NativeZone
Location: Natives Province
Capacity: 3,2000
Following up on the national stadium is a tall order, but the illustrious NativeZone is a unique experience of the football culture that calls here home. Natives FC, one of the fiercest teams in the nation, is hosted here, a facility designed in the natural earthly style of the region, the small stadium is a beauty. Tropical heat may scare off some, but will be a nice experience for others. Food in the stadium is on the healthier and interesting side, with fruits, local delicacies, and treats everywhere. Transit to the venue consists of a train followed by a connecting bus. There is no metro and infrastructure otherwise is less developed. Between matches, there are many food and music options, as well as markets selling local crafts, and numerous nature tours.
Matchday 3 vs. Erroropolisish Paradystopia

Serpent-Stade
Location: Serpent-ville
Capacity: 6,6000
The home of "the Snakes" in the province of Snake Valley, as it were, ophidiophobes would do well to stay away. While the province name itself comes from geologic formations, it does host the feared reptile and embraces it as a sort-of mascot, leading us to a strong French side. The stadium itself has an astounding number of slithering decor. A series of paired bronze snakes adorns the way to the grand entrance, majestically guiding fans inward. From there, one will find almost every possible representation of the misunderstood creature, which has massive popularity here. Fans notoriously hiss at opponents and referees, inducing a level of fear that may be unparalleled in the nation, if not world. In the city itself, which is smaller than one might expect, it is distinctly French, but a bit fancier and traditional than Les Fleuves. While the great wyrms are celebrated here, it is rare to actually encounter a wild one, they fear you more than you them.
Matchday 5 vs. Xanneria

Royal Field
Location: Fizroe
Capacity: 7,2000
The midpoint of qualifiers goes to the home stadium of Turtles management, both Bates and Daviande served many seasons here. Football doesnt get more serious than at Royal Field, home to Royal Fizroe, the beloved team of unrepentant monarchists. While Anila City got the name, Fizroe has the spirit of the late Grand Archduke. With a gorgeous view of Fizroe Bay, this is where the annual Turtle Classic between the top two Premier League teams is held. Despite their plucky nature, the home side rarely makes it, with a longtime rivalry between Nemnen Turtles and Anila City FC the most common matchup. To get to this stadium, visitors will have to hop on a plane or take a ferry, most likely from the two major cities. Transit on island is a bit more limited, with buses serving the bulk. Despite the forward-thinking efforts of Grand Archduke Kirby I, he focused development on the mainland. The stadium itself doesnt come up short, but is known for being a bit higher class. Be warned, republican sentiments are not taken kindly here.
Matchday 9 vs. Novaya Zemlya Archipelago

Freedom Field
Location: Anvorbuod City
Capacity: 7,6000
The Rebels play here, a reflection of the provinces erstwhile politics that have tempered down over the years. Nonetheless, a fierce fanbase exists here in one of the most liberal and historically capitalist cities of Sel Appa. In some ways, Anvorbuod is more developed and modern then the rest of the country, but there is also a higher wealth gap. A different kind of nationalism is found here, but most Anvorbuodans have moved on from their past and are proud Sel Appans now. The stadium itself is quite modern and outfitted with all of the amenities one might expect. In the city at large, you will find no provincial sales tax and a business first attitude, almost alien in the rest of the country.
Matchday 11 vs. Vaishnavaria

Grand Archduke Kirby I Stadium
Location: Anila City
Capacity: 8,0000
Finishing off the qualification run at home is the second city of Sel Appa: Anila. The namesake of Sel Appas beloved late monarch, who was mysteriously assassinated in 2005, Anila City FC plays here. Located in the second largest city, it certainly stacks up well to their rivals in the capital. One will find everything they need here and more. With a metro station across the street, and numerous other options, getting in and out is no problem. Anila is more distinctly Anglo than the multicultural capital, but still showcases a variety of cultures and diversions.
Matchday 13 vs. Qusmo

And now...

World Cup 102 Preview

Changes
The 102nd World Cup is here, and the team is exactly the same as the Independents, which saw a few changes. If you skipped that Quarterfinal run by the boys in blue, well catch you up. Coach Walter Daviande pursued a more attacking strategy (+5), reinforcing his motto "We need to score to win." This shifted callups as well as formation. Officially, its 2-3-2-3, but in reality its 3-4-3, with one defender supporting the midfield, and two midfielders mixing into the attack when needed.

Longstanding keeper, Bobby Boyd retired professionally going into the 26th Independent Associations Championship, saying it was an honor to represent Sel Appa on the national team. Captain and forward Johnny Dong also stepped back from the national team, hoping to find a foreign domestic team to sign with, but did not find one. He ended up signing a one year contract with Saint Elmos Fire. Meanwhile, Joe Visser left the team to lace up skates, with talk of a Sel Appan return to international hockey. He would be the first Sel Appan to appear internationally in football and hockey.

Management cuts also took out a few players who did not perform as expected. Armen Alan rarely saw the pitch, and fits better in domestic play. Brian Roberts also proved a disappointment despite being moved between midfield and defense. Third string keeper Kalmen Goldberg also was signed off.

New to the team are two keepers: Cal Baleer from the Tigers of Hanajj and Manny Hamm of Felltishire Maelstrom. Joining the midfield is Clement Anders from the T'lopiq Marauders, where he is a defender. He is expected to take on Roberts role.

Meanwhile, most of the changes are at the front of the team with Bobby Mack, Earl MacCollins, and Fuego Fernandez. The former two from Anila City, while Fernandez comes from the Mountain Rats. His performance at the IAC was stellar, so he is an obvious return. The team has bumped up from 23 to 24 players, with three keepers, and seven each for defense, midfield, and forwards.

The first thing to know is the team has been brought into international standards with 1-11 making up the starters, and the backups taking 12-24. This limits players to wearing 1-24, and the old conventione of consecutive numbers is no more. The FFSA has not yet pushed this on the domestic league, but sources suggest that is coming. Expect old jerseys to have some added vintage value now.

The Roster
Starting us off in net is Sam Sabesić, who played a bit last qualifiers as Bobby Boyd was phased out. He proved well in the Independents group stage, but struggled a bit against Snestar and Drawkland. He started at Anila City before moving on to Royal Fizroe. He is often considered an extra defender, not afraid to start a play or come out of the net, with all the risks that carries.

The backup keepers consist of Cal Baleer, the Tigers lead keeper, whose height and width provide him ample abilities to block shots. He could be a starter, but Sab is simply better. Manny Hamm joins him, coming from the Maelstrom. While he comes up a bit short vertically, his agility and jump makes up for it. Both are adequate backups for the Turtles.

Moving on to the defensive unit, Karlo Metassis and Raven Sampson remain in the starters. The former is a double turtle, playing for Nemnen domestically. An avid Turtleade consumer, he has yet to bag a sponsorship. Sampson plays for Les Oiseaux and dreamed of playing hockey, but ended up on the pitch. Despite his tackles and defense resulting in injuries, he has escaped many cards. This duo will form the basis of the Sel Appan defense as left and right backs.

Tobias Hart is an Anvorbuod Rebel and the only player held over from the redebut team during World Cup 98. He is cautious in play, but reliable on defense and sometimes in the midfield. Alex Cécile is well known at Fleuves FC, focused on marking opposing players and locking their attacks out. Winston George plays for the Rovers and subs in during mor defensive formations. François Jean pairs with Cécile at Fleuves, and uses his large size to block shots. And finally, Chris Nelson, has been signalling he would leave the national team soon, but signed on for the 102 cycle. Hes a Fizroe boy at home, and straddles the defense and midfield as a substitute.

For the midfield, some changes were made for the Independents. Arthur Cahse and Kazun Tayit were moved to start, joining Ashin Pons. Captain Cahse is a midfielders midfielder from the Rovers, blending attack and defense. He will be on the defensive end, but can be moved around as needed. Pons hails from Natives Province, but plays for Nemnen, which caused grumbling back home. Tayit is a striker for Natives FC, but plays an attacking midfielder nationally.

Jimmy Kim was dropped to the bench at the IAC, but we are told he may be splitting starts with Tayit. A legend at Anila City, he was born in Thingpao. He goes by James in English, but friends call him Jimmy. Vinny Perrault snipes goals on occasion and plays for the Serpents. Clement Anders is a new callup from T'lopiq Marauders, where he plays defense, and is expected to substitute defensively when needed. George Kingsford, another Turtle, was added late before the IAC. He plays defense domestically as well, but is midfield nationally.

Bobby Mack and Earl MacCollins joined the team from Anila City, being attacking midfielders, and are somewhat the same for the national team, altho classed as strikers. The "Mack-Mac Pack" causes some name confusion, and as starters, theyll be all over the place. Adam Bittler plays for the Rebels. He had been a center forward, but was never comfortable there and moved back to make room for Alfredo "Fuego" Fernandez. The Mountain Rat star more than proved himself as the lead goalscorer for Sel Appa at the Independents. He is a young and powerful forward with bursting speed and strong kicks. He fires shots easily past defenders. Tony Rodriguez is the nephew of Sel Appan star striker, Estevez, who coached him in youth league. These two bridge the eras of Sel Appan international football, and he follows his uncles footsteps well. ➡
Rounding off the team are Billy Orange and Olivier Roche. The former from Fizroe, he has been a gamewinner for his domestic team on a regular basis. Roche is called "The Rock from Damacq" to Anglo fans, he is a Serpents striker without a question on the national team. He sounds like a defender, but he is a hard-hitting stiker.

Image
And of course, Rockwell Bates and Walter Daviande are no strangers to fans. Both came from Royal Fizroe and have turned a struggling team around. Daviande saw the Turtles to the semifinals and then quarterfinals at the last to Independents, with a Cup of Harmony quarterfinal in between. Davs previously coached for Anila City, as well as the Serpents, following his entire playing career there, and is determined to get Sel Appa into the finals, finally.

Bates has had his coachs back from thick to thin. Their strong partnership at Fizroe holds fast nationally. The consistency has helped keep the team moving forward, something that was long needed. As leader of the Federation, he is working to bring change, both on the pitch and off. The duo has pushed back on Sel Appan hooligan culture, and Bates expanded the available venues for hosting internationals, with an aim to host an entire tournament in the near future.

The Homestand
With the shorter qualifiers, only six venues made the cut, down from four last time. FFSA President Bates tried to change the traditional order by starting the opening match in Anila City rather than Nemnenait, and closing out the qualifiers in Nemnenait, but the organizing committees for both cities pushed back on this. Nevertheless, he has indicated he will try again in the future. In any case, Sel Appa was drawn into Group 10, of 23.

Matchday 1 vs. Oberour Ar Moro @ Turtle Stadium, Nemnenait
The less known, but top-ranked side will be Sel Appas first opponent at the spectacular home opener, on matchday 1 no less! A raucous crowd will be expecting a home win, and a win here would really set the stage. The Dragoons outrank the Turtles by quite a bit, but the hopes are for a split between here and the visit abroad.

Matchday 3 vs Erroropolisish Paradystopia @ NativeZone, Natives Province
Little is known about this Paradystopi team, but they will be hosted at NativeZone. Given their low rank, a pair of wins seems most likely.

Matchday 5 vs. Xanneria @ Serpent-Stade, Serpent-ville
Serpent-Stade was the only Francophone stadium to make the cut, displacing the usual Stade d'Or. This decision is speculated to have been made for the intimidation factor. Anyone with ophidiophobia is likely to be uncomfortable playing surrounded by slithers. A win here against this closely ranked team is critical to secure the Turtles place. A loss could be fatal. The corresponding match abroad will also help set our position.

Matchday 9 vs. Novaya Zemlya Archipelago @ Royal Field, Fizroe
Coming back from the midpoint and an away match, another new side will feature at Royal Field. Being from an island chain, they might feel right at home. Nonetheless, Sel Appa can be expected to win.

Matchday 11 vs. Vaishnavaria @ Freedom Field, Anvorbuod City
Freedom Field was selected due to the wealth of this major city. While our opponent here is low ranked, they are the best of the bottom three. At this point in the qualifiers, we should have a good idea of where Sel Appa stands, with only three matches remaining. A win here would just about lock up at least a playoff spot.

Matchday 13 vs. Qusmo @ Grand Archduke Kirby I Stadium, Anila City
Finally, as always, qualifiers for Sel Appa come to an end in Anila City. This is also the last match the Turtles will play as 14 is a bye day. Qusmo is the best ranked team in the group and will be a big fight, but the boys in blue will seek to close it out with a win. After this match, we will be all but certain where Sel Appa is in the ranks, but the team will be at the mercy of the other six nations if there are any questions.

So youre saying theres a chance?
You are probably wondering what our shot at qualifying is. The answer is actually: finally pretty good. Sel Appa are ranked third in the group at 77th, behind 13th Qusmo and 32nd Oberour Ar Moro. Xanneria is fourth in the group and 93rd overall, while the remaining three teams are deep in the hundreds. The Turtles start off hosting Oberour Ar Moro at Turtle Stadium and finish with Qusmo in Grand Archduke Kirby I Stadium. The format for these qualifiers are a bit different, with a bit of a throwback by using smaller groups of seven, which means only twelve matches and two bye days. The group leader advances, while 2nd and 3rd teams from all groups are reseeded to hash it out at a neutral site. That means, the safest place to be is first, but second and third can lead to anything happening.

The shorter schedule will mean a less fatigued and drawn out qualifiers. Last go, Sel Appa started off well, but fell hard in the second leg. A strong start here would go a long way. Key is punching wins against the low ranked team, and splitting or better with what is left. The bookies are pretty aligned with Sel Appa taking third, and second having better odds than fourth. Qualification is floating around evens for now. Wins against Qusmo and Oberour Ar Moro will be key, at home if not abroad. Xanneria will be a threat, but certainly are beatable. Ultimately, we dont really know, but this is the best Sel Appa have been placed since returning for the World Cup 98 qualifiers. Many would even say its due after back to back stellar performances at the IAC, but we shall see. Image

No-one in Paradystopia quite expected that their national team would be coming into this World Cup as reigning Third-place-playoff champions, and many will outright deny that Paradystopia are now amongst the top ten squads across the Multiverse. It could be that it's been a meteoric rise since scrabbling by with teams half-filled with penguins: The transition from 'shit' to 'not shit' somehow hurdling the usual intermission period of 'slightly shit'. Nevertheless, as the man on the street acclimatises to Paradystopia's odds of winning it no longer being a three figure number to one, the team will be looking to consolidate this new-found stewardship of 'clout' on the international stage, and show that their historic ranking high is not a mere by-product of their home advantage in World Cup 101. They'll also be looking to avenge a pretty miserable performance in the most recent Campionato Esportiva where they fumbled a round-of-16 match-up to depart in the first round of knockouts.

Oh, I see. You just want the quick and easy version?
I can't say I'm not disappointed ...

The path to Kung Fu mastery requires discipline and perseverance, and ...

What's that? We're not the ninja penguin lot?
Whoops. Sorry 'bout that.
Usual First XI
1. GK - Sjiu (xat')
2. CB/LIB - Jim (vc) (penguin)
3. LCB - Beren Doggle
4. RCB - Konrad Spoon
5. LWB - Amelya Anastasyasdottyr
6. RWB - Njawrao (xat')
9. CM - Leonard Lugga
7. LCM - Sosjian (xat')
8. RCM - Jimmy Jangletrousers
10. CF - Sebastien Borgen (c)
11. RF - Rsheu (xat')

Manager: Pepé Papa
Tactics: Soak up pressure, counterattacking wing-play, a bit of classic 'Route one' football.
Style: -2.625
Home Ground: Soggybottom, Oldetoun, New Newetoun (76,750 capacity)
RP Permissions: No deaths, no major injuries, anything else fine

Note on age classifications:
unk = unknown
Xat’i and Pterons mature faster than humanoids but also have shorter lifespans. They reach adulthood around the age of 3, considered at their prime between 5 and 15, will think about retirement around their mid-to-late 20’s and their life expectancy is around 55.

Note on gender classification:
Gender in Paradystopia falls into three categories across five classifications. The categories are male, female and non-binary, with male and female both subdivided into cisgendered and electively gendered. As such, 'Mc' equates to a cisgendered male, and 'Fe' would equate to an electively gendered female (or, more commonly known throughout the multiverse as a transgender woman.) For the most part, the average Paradystopi* would only state their gender category when asked. Full classifications are included here for completeness.

*By average Paradystopi, I refer to the human population. The Pterons and Xat'i will just give their biological sex and couldn't really care less if their perceived gender appears contrary to this. Neither species' natural language features gendered pronouns and their views of biological sex bears little relevance to them beyond if it's pertinent to know whether one could or could not nurse their young.

Key:

Kit Number. Position - Name (with kit name bolded)
Race(Gender) - Age - Current Club
Goalkeepers
First Team

1. GK - Sjiu
Xat'i(Fc) - 8 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
Sjiu is a truly outstanding goalkeeper, and the best player in the Paradystopi squad by a fair margin. With, for want of better terminology, cat-like reflexes and agility, her shot-stopping is second-to-none. Despite her relatively small stature, her ability to pounce through the air means she can dominate her penalty area against strikers twice her size as well as cover a much larger percentage of her net than would seem possible in one-on-one situations. Her main drawbacks are that she enjoys playing the sweeper keeper role and has been known to be caught in no-man's-land when the team lose possession, and that she will almost always opt to punch the ball away rather than catch it which can lead to giving possession straight back to the attackers.

Substitutes/Reserves

12. GK - Klara av Steinbruddet
Human(Fc) - 31 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
26. GK - Ignatius Gormeley-Breckendown
Human(Mc) - 20 - Image Edervina (SNE)

Whilst being a talented and safe pair of hands herself, it's very unlikely that Av Steinbruddet will find herself playing unless an injury occurs to Sjiu. Even less so for newly called-up youngster Gormeley-Breckendown. Nevertheless, should Paradystopia be forced to use a substitute keeper, the squad are more than confident in their back-up options.

Defenders
First Team

2. CB/LIB - Jim (vc)
Penguin(Mc) - unk - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
There are few words to summarise Jim, though 'An enigma in penguin form' is probably the closest. Outwardly, there would seem to be little remarkable about this penguin and his inclusion in the team liable to be disregarded as 'Paradystopia being Paradystopia'. However, Jim is brilliant at what he does, and that is being in the right place at the right time. You think your attacker is in space? Nope, there's Jim. You think your winger just made a beautiful cross-field pass to switch play and continue the attack? Nope, there's Jim. You think you've got a midfielder free on the edge of the box to hammer home a screamer? Yeah? Nope, Jim's there to block it. How he does it, no-one has the foggiest but you can be utterly certain that he will be a frustrating thorn in the side of your attempts to attack us.
In true Paradystopi fashion, Jim is the team's vice-captain, despite no-one being able to understand him.

3. LCB - Beren Doggle
Human(Mc) - 24 - Image Armada Kotr (KNZ)
An imposing hulk of a defender, Beren Doggle adopts the role of the hard-hitting defender, policing the box and making opponent forwards very aware of his presence through his physicality. Still trusted with his spot in the national team despite a shaky start to his career in Kanzlian football, he will be determined to silence his critics on the international stage.

4. RCB - Konrad Spoon
Human(Mc) - 24 - Image Rockport Ravens (DAN)
Despite not having been on the radar for the national team previously, Pepe Papa has put his faith in Konrad Spoon to pre-emptively plug the gap left by Van der Stedd and Zidaric as the pair look to wind down their international careers. More used to playing out wide than centrally it remains to be seen if Spoon will rise to the occasion or crumble beneath the pressure. Spoon does however complement Doggle rather well being the more technical ball-playing defender to his strong physical counterpart.

5. LWB - Amelya Anastasyasdottyr
Human(Fc) - 21 - Image AC Urbsclawydraeksterlutrja
Tipped to be the upcoming star, Amelya Anastasyasdottyr finally finds herself a first team spot. Classically more of an attacking player, she has grown into the attacking wing back role at her home club of AC Urbsclawydraeksterlutrja where she provides one of the team's main attacking threats. Her playing style has often been described as akin to a ferret; a relentless needling of attackers combined with a fearless desire to push forward. When you have a human player that even the xat'i openly rank as 'good', you know there's something special there. The Xat'i are always going to rate such a ridiculously attack-minded 'defender' though.

6. RWB - Njawrao
Xat'i(Mc) - 10 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
A seasoned Xat'i player, Njawrao now finds himself marshalling the right wing. Quite a large xat', he is more defensively capable than many of his race but still loves running with the ball and mounting fast attacks before you've even realised you've lost possession.

Substitutes/Reserves

13. CB - Janika van der Stedd
Human(Fe) - 33 - Conway Wanderers FC (MYR)
14. CB - Stan Zidarić
Human(Mc) - 33 - Conway Wanderers FC (MYR)
15. CB - Darko Petković
Human(Mc) - 22 - Image Tzrna Zvyedza Zygnusgrad
16. RWB/LWB - Skwee Bounder
Pteron(Fc) - 7 - Image AC Urbsclawydraeksterlutrja
17. DF - Rhorke
Xat'i(Mc) - 10 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
18. RB/RWB - Tobias John
Human(Mc) - 27 - Image AC Urbsclavoszydensanorjens

The defensive bench in there to give the squad a little depth in their options. The older experienced heads of Van der Stedd and Zidaric to offer stability. Rhorke to swap with Njawrao, or switch in for Anastasyasdottyr for the Xat'i wing double threat, or Bounder and John to provide more defensive wing options. Petković to either swap with Spoon or replace Doggle for more fluidity in the centre backs. Got to keep teams guessing with our defensive set-up.

Midfielders
First Team

9. CM - Leonard Lugga
Human(Mc) - 27 - Image Lithico St. Bernadine™ (TAX) (on loan at Sturm Havn, or maybe somewhere else. We're pretty sure he's still plying his trade in Taxhavn.)
Taking over from Kiaren Schlippe in the middle of the field, Leonard brings a physical presence to the midfield alongside a great tactical awareness, and adept passing play. He is a bold and powerful player who isn't afraid of imposing himself upon opponents and taking his tackles a little on the 'meaty' side. A majority of the more passing-based threats will come via him having honed his craft in the Taxhavn Steuerlig and grown into an imposing central figure on the field.

7. LCM - Sosjian
Xat'i(Mc) - 14 - Image SC Oldetoun New Newetoun
Of all the Xat'i in the squad, Sosjian is probably the most tactically astute. This could well be due to him playing his football in a predominantly humanoid team rather than amongst other Xat'i. As a result, he is also the most likely of the Xat'i (other than Sjiu) to actually seek to pass when in possession. He has a strong positional awareness which, coupled with a rapid turn of speed, could see him winning interceptions in enemy territory or simply being quick to strike on a careless pass. Given that his sheer pace alone will make him a nuisance to mark, the decision to play him as a winger could be a masterstroke.

8. RCM - Jimmy Jangletrousers
Human(Mc) - 25 - Image Querentes Oeopolis (ERP)
An eyebrow-raising choice from Pepe Papa was to throw Jimmy Jangletrousers straight into the first team though it would be remiss not to consider the role he has played in the rise of the penguins of Random. Now playing with the top Erroropolisish team, he is a tricksy midfielder, always looking for space, and an adept attacking middle-man. Making a run to draw a defender before placing a one-touch pass into the path of an open striker. Much like Konrad Spoon, he'll be hoping to solidify his spot on the team. Also, quite a useful corner-taker as well as the occasional free kick.

Substitutes/Reserves

19. MF - Soks
Xat'i(Fc) - 8 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
20. MF - Olii
Xat'i(Mc) - 9 - Image Random Penguins XI
21. CDM/CM - Kiaren Schlippe
Human(Mc) - 29 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
22. CM - Dillon Blade
Human(Fc) - 29 - Image AC Urbsclawydraeksterlutrja
23. CM - Jordigibbina Bean
Human(NB) - 23 - Image Tzrna Zvyedza Zygnusgrad

The midfield options are mostly like-for-like switches though also giving the option of a more attacking double-xat'i midfield (or downright ludicrous triple-xat'i midfield), or an all-human more defensively solid set. Kiaren Schlippe, as former captain, can also offer stability later on in a close match.

Forwards
First Team

10. CF - Sebastien Borgen (c)
Human(Mc) - 32 - Image Dí Maozöxê (FFD)
Despite his advancing years, Sebastien Borgen has firmly warranted his place as national team centre forward. An archetypal big, strong forward, his height and strength allow him to act as a target man as well as hold up play in the opposition half and act as a go-between amidst the dynamic attacks and mazy runs of the Xat'i. One of his best attributes is his intelligence; knowing when he can draw a foul, knowing when to release a team-mate to best foil the offside trap, knowing whether or not to take that extra step. He can be a handful to fend off, and with all the Xat'i attacking options, that's the last thing any opponent needs. Sebastien also finds himself captaining the team in a lead-from-the-front move by Pepe Papa, and with his natural authoritative aura, it seems a sensible choice.

11. RF - Rsheu
Xat'i(Mc) - 8 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
Rsheu has already marked themself as a goalscorer of epic proportions, and are devastatingly effective in the box. Quick, agile, tenacious, he is an absolute nightmare to defend and even harder to mark effectively. One-on-one, he'll tie your defender in knots trying to keep up with him, and trying to chase back after him? Good luck, but not happening. Thankfully (for you), his shooting isn't brilliant, but with the sheer number of chances he'll generate, odds are something will eventually go in.

Substitutes/Reserves

24. STR - Akash Kharpathwa
Human(Mc) - 25 - Image Farslum Hoo SC
25. STR - Rhiagr
Xat'i(Fc) - 12 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi

Akash Kharpathwa is promoted to the national squad given his similar playing style to Seb Borgen. Likewise, Rhiagr can easily slot in for Rsheu is required.

Manager

Pepé Papa
Human(Mc) - 63
Initially installed as manager on a whim, Pepe Papa has firmly implanted himself in Paradystopi footballing hearts with the team's recent third place at their home World Cup. With these successes, Pepe has now adopted Paradystopi citizenship firmly marking a new chapter of his life. Pepe's managerial style is to try to work as best he can to the individual abilities of the players he has available though does seem to favour a solid defence with multiple counterattacking options.

STYLE MOD = -2.625

Image

Having risen to sixth in the multiversal rankings, and considering the squad to now have a target of sorts on their backs from nations eyeing up a chance at giant-killing, Pepe Papa has moved to a more defensive approach going forward. The team will look to soak up pressure and bide their time until the chance comes to launch a rapid counterattack. Whether this attack will come from a break down a wing, one-touch passing up the middle, or simply a classic route one long ball for a xat' to chase will vary at any given moment. The premise is unpredictablity; you will know we're going to attack fast and hard when we gain possession, but you can't possibly cover all the potential options we have.

Some Tactical Overview

Sjiu, Jim, L.Lugga, S.Borgen - The 'Spine'
For the most part, these four players will provide a line down the centre of the field and will act as the main playmaking force of the team looking to facilitate these quick breaks. They will also marshal each section of the field and direct those around them. As you may have guessed from the name, it's essentially the 'backbone' of the team.

B.Doggle, K.Spoon - The Defensive Duo
Doggle and Spoon's main task is defence. They will generally avoid passing the halfway line and ensure there are always at least two defenders in front of Sjiu in the goal.

A.Anastasyasdottyr, Sosjian, Njawrao, J.Jangletrousers - The Wings
Whilst Anastasyasdottyr and Njawrao will take main responsibility for their wings, they will be supported by the central midfielders for quick one-twos, or avenues for switching the ball. They are encouraged to work as a group of four rather than isolated sets of two as well as embrace fluidity in their roles to cut inside, or cut outside, switch sides if the play warrants it, etc.

Rsheu - The Poacher
Rsheu is a goal machine, so why give him any instruction beyond the freedom to lurk upfield and find goals?

Soggybottom, Oldetoun, New Newetoun (76,750 capacity)

The home of Paradystopi football, and named by a poll of fans, the host venue for the 23rd IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy and 23rd Rising Stars Cup as well as the 52nd CEdC was built upon the site of the (apparently) oldest football pitch used in Paradystopia. Renovated extensively to accommodate the IFCF competitions, Soggybottom is now the perennial venue of the FLoP Rondeau final. Based in the affluent suburb of Oldetoun, the stadium is a stone's throw away from much of the best things the Paradystopi capital has to offer.

(1) Stadio Fotellis
Home to multi-time Alpha League champions Valletta FC, this ground often doesn't get the respect it deserves - much like Malta itself is lesser thought of within Vdara - until now! One lucky team has earned the right to be the first international team to grace the Stadio Fotellis - is it yours?
Capacity: 36,000

(2) VdarArena
Just like Irn Bru, the original and best - and also the largest. Matches against Hanalia, Kelssek, and some other dobbers will take place here, in the Vdaran capital of Chania. Expect a raucous atmosphere from some of the nation's most dedicated football fans.
Capacity: 52,500

(3) Irakleio Informer Park
Sponsored by the national newspaper (with its headquarters literally just a street away), Irakleio Informer Park (or just Informer Park, if you want to save time) is situated in Heraklion, Crete's second city. The local team is Panirakleios, the reigning winners of the VdaraBet Cup and runners-up of the GetAddictedToGamblingRightNow Trophy. Rolls off the tongue brilliantly.
Capacity: 40,000

(4) Dodecanese Dome
Home to Rodos FC, this modest stadium does not boast many accolades nor hold that many people compared to the rest - much like its football team. However, there are a few lovely restaurants to sell you some gyros nearby.
Capacity: 27,500

(5) Stadio Nicosia Eleftheria
The largest stadium on Vdara's second-largest island, this is where Vdara's qualifiers will come to a close - and hopefully, where they'll have sealed qualification by now. This description may come back to bite us.
Capacity: 37,500

Bio
Where is Vdara? What is Vdara? Who are Vdara? Is it a state? It’s a state of mind, that’s for sure. Established during the times of Ancient Greek colonisation, the first Vdaran settlement was in the modern day capital city of Chania, where a valiant crew had stumbled upon after setting off from Athens, and decided to settle down. This settlement evolved into a city, and this city decided to set up its own settlements, spreading Vdaran culture and ideals across many of the Mediterranean islands, creating their own archipelago. The Vdaran archipelago would go on to change hands several times over the next few millennia, being held by the Turks, Venetians, and Greeks - to name just a few. Fast forward to the present, and now you have a gyro-eating, sports-loving nation with a people who are dedicated to following Vdaran football loudly and proudly. They’ve seen the highs, and they’ve seen the lows, and they’ll now see the present. Fiercely committed to defending their honour, every single Vdaran - from the players, to the coaches, to the ordinary man or woman chilling on their couch, shouting at their television - will be readily available to convince people that, no, Vdara are not has-beans. They’re the real deal.

Do what you want. In fact, do your worst. Hurt my players. Send them to hell. I will bring them back. Send my players off - I have others. Suspend my entire team - we will bribe the referees. In fact, I encourage anyone to bribe referees against us - because they need the money.
(oh, and pick whoever you want to score goals. we’ve got plenty of players, so we’re bound to make some substitutions here and there.)

Tactics

James Molloy maintains a flat 4-4-2, despite questions over his tactics and performance. The back line sits in a low block, arguably inviting pressure, but also providing opportunities for a counter attack. In midfield, typically the central midfield lie a little deeper, opening space for the wingers to move into. The front 2 will aim to act as a target man – poacher duo, with the capability of scoring.

Jack Blethyn has been the manager of Warkus since the start of the World Cup 99 qualifying campaign.

Best Results:
World Cup: yeah :(
World Cup Qualifiers: Eliminated in Group Stage (all competitions)
CAFA Cup: Quarter Finals (13th edition)
Cup of Harmony: Semi-Finals (92nd edition)
Baptism of Fire: Round of 32 (37th edition)
Image
This team is, on paper, stronger than they've ever been. They're the highest they've ever been in the KPB+ rankings and the inaugural season of the Warkus Premier has given the staff more of an opportunity to evaluate the nation's talent pool. A few good performances in recent competitions outside of the qualifiers show that this team has the ability to make a deep run if things go their way. On the other hand, their poor qualifying performance and backroom chaos show that they could crumble just as easily.

Image
Prince Regent Jack Blethyn, 'Princeps', 34 y/o
The manager ever since Warkus's return to international football in the World Cup 99 cycle, until he resigned at the end of the team's failed attempt to qualify for World Cup 101. But somehow, Jack Blethyn returned. Even more surprisingly, he's more powerful than ever after a baffling 'coup' that took place over a few short hours. He got the team from unranked to 84th in the world by the end of his second cycle, with his most impressive result so far being the team's first ever knockout round appearance in Cup of Harmony 91 where they made it to the Semi Finals. But the team's struggles during the qualifiers, along with his resignation and subsequent rehiring, plus an 'okay, not great' performance in the last Cup of Harmony suggest that he'll need to shake things up a bit if he wants his team to perform well.

Often referred to by the nickname ‘Princeps’ ever since his romantic relationship with Queen Eirian Protheroe became known to the public (They're now married!). The traditionalist types aren't keen on his overly academic, businessman-style approach to coaching, especially since he was never a professional footballer himself. But even they can't complain when the Doves are playing exciting, if occasionally messy, attacking football. Jack has managed the most games of any Warkus national team manager, although he's still managed the team for the shortest length of time owing to the modern two year cycle and the team's consistent participation in competitions outside of the World Cup Qualifiers.

He seems to be changing things up somewhat for his third attempt at qualification. He's hardened - more edgy, more aware of the tricks that other teams might play in order to get a result against him. And he's not above playing those tricks himself nowadays.

Image
1. Daniel Benjamin, 24 y/o - Club of Choppyhausen City - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99
The team’s ball-playing, starting goalkeeper. Good at helping the team play through the press and making accurate passes, but prone to crumbling against a high volume of shots on goal.

35. Elizabeth Morgan, 21 y/o - Khywyala Lions - Image
Bench player since Cup of Harmony 92 (post-World Cup 101).
A talented, if occasionally unfocused, ball-playing goalkeeper. She didn't have the greatest season with the Khywyala Lions, given that she let in over forty goals during the course of the season, but her potential and youth have earned her a call up.

32. James Orwell, 34 y/o - CPD Dinas Sand - Image
Bench player since World Cup 99
A traditional shot-stopping goalkeeper. If his distribution was any good, he’d probably be better than the other options. Doesn’t gel with Jack Blethyn’s setup.

Image
2. Iawn Owen, 33 y/o - Caer Lloer - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99
A decent water carrier who usually plays as a leftback but can play as a rightback as well. He doesn’t really excel at anything in particular and usually ends up passing the ball as soon as he can.

4. Isetyn Piwter, 30 y/o - Steel United - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99
The team’s marquee centreback. Tall, strong, tactically astute (finally!) and good in corners but not so great on the ball and tends to commit not-so-tactical fouls. Probably the most likely to get sent off.

3. Aneurin Evans, 35 y/o - CPD Dinas Sand - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99
The more agile, ball-playing counterpart to Isetyn. The traditional leader of the back four but increasingly sharing that role with Isetyn. Now that he’s 33, he’s losing some of his speed and natural athleticism.

97. Mary Davies, 30 y/o - Reaktiv Ibsia - Image
Regular starter since CAFA Cup 13 (post-World Cup 100), previously a bench player from World Cup 99-100.
A pacy, short rightback who often overlaps with winger Max Tarbutt in possession. Sometimes criticised for being too much of a ‘pace merchant’ who struggles against players who are either faster or more patient than her.

21. Tyler Mohan, 28 y/o - Sun Fort Sundayers - Image
Bench player since Cup of Harmony 92 (post-World Cup 101).
Demonstrated excellence as a starting centreback for the Sun Fort Sundayers in the inaugural season of the Warkus Premier. Perhaps he's been snubbed up until this point and could compete for Piwter's spot in the starting eleven.

5. James Roberts, 36 y/o - Khywyala Lions - Image
Bench player since CAFA Cup 13 (Post-World Cup 100), previously a regular starter from World Cup 99-100.
Similar to Iawn Owen, but older. And slower. And his fitness levels have been dropping off rapidly since the last Cup of Harmony. He's already announced this'll be his final tournament with the national team.

55. Ahmed al-Saqqaf, 30 y/o - Verdanforest Rovers - Image
Bench player since World Cup 99.
Ahmed gets to play when Aneurin’s shattered or injured. He’s the type of player you’d use to progress the ball up the pitch, but his decision making leaves much to be desired.

50. Victor Murphy, 31 y/o - Caer Lloer - Image
Bench player since World Cup 99.
A rightback option. Not a great one under this manager, as he just doesn’t slot into the system. Still, he's an okay bench option if Jack wants to play more defensively in the closing minutes of a game.

Image
6. Rhodri Fallows, 34 y/o - CPD Dinas Sand - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99.
Vice-captain and arguably the team’s most underrated player. A stoic midfielder who looks unremarkable but has good stats and always seems to make the team perform better when he’s playing.

7. Michael Williams, 33 y/o - KPD Nyrareth Newydd - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99.
A flashier counterpart to Rhodri. Tends to roam around a lot and tries to dribble past opponents, but he can’t read the game as well as Rhodri can.

98. Sara Maxwell, 31 y/o - Verdanforest Rovers - Image
Bench player since World Cup 99.
Sara is great on the ball and can read the play like Rhodri, but she doesn’t have the athleticism to be part of the starting 11. She’s also easily bullied by defensively minded players.

18. Pádraig Murphy, 25 y/o - Baile na bPéitseog - Image
Bench player since Cup of Harmony 91 (post-World Cup 99).
Seen by many as Rhodri’s understudy and eventual successor but has a meaningfully lower ceiling as a player and a leader. He’s not the finished product just yet.

12. Ryan Lawson, 21 y/o - Steel United - Image
Bench player since Cup of Harmony 91 (post-World Cup 100).
Generally paired with Pádraig and seen as a successor to Michael. Unlike Pádraig, people do believe that he has the potential to be as good or better than Michael someday. He only just came back from a bad injury, so he won't make the starting eleven even if he's probably good enough to.

77. Seven Price, 29 y/o - Yr Hen Glwb - Image
Bench player since World Cup 99.
A more traditional central midfielder. Likes to play more directly than the other midfielders. One time a journalist described his play as ‘all about nothing’, which doesn’t make any sense.

Image
9. Siôr Castell, 25 y/o - CF Orlisia - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99.
Pacy winger who likes to cut inside and shoot at goal, even when he probably shouldn’t. Seen as the team’s ‘next big thing’ for a while now, so hopefully he’ll continue to improve. Llewelyn’s understudy in both goalscoring and pranking his coaches.

22. Colin Emrys, 25 y/o - Sun Fort Sundayers - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 100, previously a bench player during World Cup 99.
Colin usually drops deep and plays as a false nine to disrupt defenders and make things easier for Llewelyn. Sometimes grabs goals of his own, but typically plays more of a supporting role. He's also the player who ends up dropping back to help the team defend. Passing and shooting accuracy sometimes leave much to be desired.

11. Llewelyn Rose, 31 y/o - Ulixes Kotr - Image
Captain and regular starter since World Cup 99.
Your traditional semi god modded striker: captain, best player on the team, good looking and kind of a goofball. Recently moved to Ulixes Kotr after pushing for an overseas move for a few years.

13. George Castle 19 y/o - East Bay United - Image
Bench player since Cup of Harmony 92 (post-World Cup 101).
Rapidly established himself as a solid striker for Athletic Llanwern in the first season of the Warkus Premier and attained the honour of being the first Warkusian to accept a contract to play overseas. A strong reason for Eridania Basin has seen him move into the starting eleven/

8. Max Tarbutt, 31 y/o - CPD Perthcelyn - Image
Regular starter since World Cup 99, now a bench player.
The weaker of the two wingers. While Siôr often runs at defenders on his own, Max tends to rely on his rightback making overlapping runs.

10. Phoenix Vos, 16 y/o - Amafujisan Wanderers - Image
Bench player since World Cup 101.
Direct descendant of former Warkusian manager and international captain Victor Vos. Young, talented, quick – basically your standard wonderkid. Given that he’s only 15 years old, he’s not the finished product yet. Normally plays as a creative attacking midfielder but will be forced into a striker role from the bench.

24. Alistair Griffiths, 24 y/o - Caer Lloer - Image
Bench player since World Cup 99.
Alistair’s a solid striker, really. He’s just not as good as Llewelyn and Colin. He can be one of those ‘super sub’ players who scores in the last minute, or he can make no impact whatsoever.

46. Oscar Gray, 23 y/o - Saevaroy Town FC - Image
Bench player since Cup of Harmony 91 (post-World Cup 100).
Oscar was initially seen as talented youngster, but not a wonderkid, except he’s been great most of the time’s he’s played. Now he’s seen as the answer to the ‘Who would be a good 1-to-1 substitute for Siôr?’ question. Not as good as Siôr, obviously, but he seems completely unencumbered by the state of the game or the quality of his opponents.

Tactics
The team plays a fluid attacking game which relies on speed and players frequently switching positions. In attack, the full-backs push high and wide to give the wingers space to drift inside while the centre-backs sit a little wider. One of the forwards, typically Colin Emrys, drops deep to play a 'false 9' role (this has, of course, led to debates over whether Warkus really plays a 4-2-3-1 formation instead of a 4-2-4). Both midfielders are expected to be able to play both as a Volante and as a more creative central midfielder. This allows them to swap positions to confuse their opponents, just as the forward wingers and strikers often do. Recently Jack has been issuing less instructions and relying more on player creativity and individual talent. Fans of the team's style say it's exciting, assertive, high risk and high reward football that allows for moments of individual brilliance from players like Llewelyn Rose and Siôr Castell. Critics say that this approach actually amounts to our players running around like headless chickens and only succeeding because the players are just that good, or perhaps because if our players don't know what they're doing then their opponents certainly can't anticipate their future actions!

The Dome of Virtue (110,000 capacity)

Each and every Warkus home game will take place in the Dome of Virtue, a 110,000-seater stadium in the nation’s capital Nyareth Newydd. It’s a black, gothic stadium inspired by the East Warkusian castle Caer Lloer in Dinas Wen. The venue has a reputation for being imposing, especially at night time, due to its dark colour and intimate lighting. But it’s also seen as a bit of a library because the Warkus fans are generally pretty quiet outside of important games. Locals have mixed feelings about the stadium’s appearance, because while it does look cool it is a little embarrassing having your city’s biggest stadium based on a castle from another city.

Nyareth Newydd (also known as ‘New Nyareth’ or affectionately by locals as ‘New Nyaky’) is the capital of Warkus and located roughly in the centre of the country. It’s often spoken about using the slogan ‘Neither eastern nor western’ because the city was founded while the east and west halves of the country were in the process of uniting. There’s plenty to do there: check out some huge libraries, go to the theatre, head to a jazz club – basically lots of artsy stuff. You’ll also find the National Museum of Warkus, which runs a massive permanent exhibition on the unification of the two Kingdoms. You can also book in to do a tour of Castell Siôr, which was built by the city’s founder and the first historically verifiable King of a unified Warkus in the late 1700s. It’s actually the home of the Senedd Warkus, which is the nation’s unicameral legislature.

SHIN-ZETSUBO REPRESENTATIVE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
Officially sanctioned by the Shin-Zetsubo Despairing Soccer Association

ABOUT SHIN-ZETSUBO
Shin-Zetsubo is a anarchic ethnostate with no designated executive, legislature or judicial system. The capital, Towa City, was given its role on the nation's founding as the only city in the country, which has since expanded from only encompassing the capital to a size of about 6,200 square miles. All citizens are of a uniform height, weight and build - Female, 5 feet, 5 inches in height, 99 pounds in weight, all wearing pink twintails with two hairclips (which they are allowed to customize) and all sporting blue eyes and a slim frame. All citizens of Shin-Zetsubo are extremely focused on despair and love spreading it between each other. However, they get easily bored if they follow a routine for at most more than a couple days.
OOC: Almost everyone looks and acts like Junko Enoshima from Danganronpa in this nation. Think of this as "what if Junkoland from Danganronpa 2 actually happened". I say almost, there's one girl on the squad isn't like Junko.

It's a weird era in the country. After making playoffs in a World Cup cycle that could make even the most bored Shin-Zetsubite get into the sport, the whole nation figured out that they weren't alone. Officially an Anaian country and with something known as an association having their backing, complete with a quartet of clubs who also compete in something called a LigAzeria, Chrystill Emoran's squad now has competition breathing down their necks for the first time...

KITS
Home - An all-red getup, aquired on their travels in Farfadillis before the 87th Baptism of Fire
Away - A black cardigan and plaid skirt, the "traditional" Shin-Zetsubite look minus the black and white tie

NOTE: All players in the national team were assigned to one of the country's four new clubs, with designations to be revealed in due course...

Chrystill EMORAN - Personality: Teacher

STARTING XI
Chrystill Emoran's tactics and squad selection are meant to be despairful. Nobody on the team is supposedly better than any other in their general position, so she can choose players on her starting squad as she pleases. In general these are meant to be based on the "eye test" from training sessions and matches. There is also no tactical formation set in stone - Shin-Zetsubites being completely bored after a while means that these players can easily play out of the position given to them.

HOME STADIUM
Despairing Soccer Ground - Towa City (2,500 capacity)
The Despairing Soccer Ground is... Well it's a stadium in the capital city. Built ahead of the World Cup 100 qualifiers when the nation suddenly realized they needed a place to host their matches, the place is nothing more than a pitch and a couple stands. Attendance can be sparse due to boredom, but now with LigAzeria matches the stadium actually has use outside of World Cup qualifiers. For those who come here, be prepared for a gaggle of giggling girls goading at your goal-scoring greats.

STYLE MODIFIER
The style modifier for Shin-Zetsubo is +5, mainly owing to everyone being out of position typically by the 30th-35th minute.

Eleanorian national team roster for the 102nd World Cup (I)

Postby Saint Eleanor » Thu Oct 08, 2026 10:25 am

Style Modifier: -2.269

Image
Notes
  1. Shirts: visualised to your right.
  2. Nickname: The White Stars is the historically-accepted nickname for Saint Eleanor, owing to the central symbol on their flag. Since their CoH84 win, the use of Falcons or Peregrine Falcons (previously lost in translation by Huayramarca's erstwhile Trome as "Peregrin Hawks") - a homage to the national animal, once avoided for fear of confusion with the Pink Falcons of Nova Aegis - has soared in popularity. Ahem.
  3. Race, ethnicity and species: Felaraneta is black [and ethnically Sochean]. Vickers is white [but half-Tinhamptonian through her dad, half-Prahecqois through her mum]. Matsuda and Fujiwara are Squidroidian [i.e. Japanese]. Sundgren is white [and ethnically Norrish]. Aldra is Brantid. Abdullah is black [and Quebecois]. All other humans are white [and ethnically Tinhamptonian].
Matsuda lives in a human body, but he is also one of Squidroidia's six feted Wunderbars, a victim/beneficiary of human experimentation intended - often, if not always, with success - to make the experimentees among the best footballers in the multiverse. Gentle Breeze, manager, is a pegasus (and the image of her linked towards the end of this roster was generously donated by EQS, only for Imgur to so cruelly take it away from my fellow Brits). Reniira Clevinger, co-assistant manager, is half-human, half-satyr. All others are fully human.
  4. No drama: Eleanorians play football the way they're entirely convinced it's meant to be played. No gloves (goalies excepted), no long-sleeved thermal underthings, no obnoxiously-coloured boots, absolutely no cutting off the bottoms of their socks and sticky-taping a new one on, and no unjustified whinging, moaning or faking: just getting on with the job, having "fun," and trying to win somehow. Some call it non-league standard. Others call it dour, evangelical Christianity (never mind only 70% of the population believes it). We call it one of the best forms of football in the world.
  5. Additional information: New players' names are in bold, like this. The names of all players and staff in the Biography section are hyperlinks to their interviews with Jamie Rodgers, where available; they should not be treated as part of this roster.
cica.da accounts of note are NOT in this roster, as they were in WCQ95; I've moved the list to my domestic newswire.
  6. Players' languages: All Eleanorians speak Image Terranean, it is the language of intrasquad communication, and many - including in this squad - will have a Westcountry accent. The vast majority do not know any other languages. Despite this...
--> Vickers also has a strong-ish understanding of Image Azertienne (her mum is Prahecqois and moved to Saint Eleanor between its independence and her birth).
  7. How to read my roster's short list: Every position in the short list has a colour code: goalkeepers are orange; defenders red; midfielders green; strikers blue; managers purple; assistant managers pink. The captain is in black; their vice-captain is in grey. Major palmares (WC, CoH, BoF ----- CAFA, AOCAF, ARC, CR, CE, CMFA, IAC ----- CL/CC, ChC/GC, AT, CWC, LBCT/SBCC, RSC/YC) are in golden yellow, and - for staff - distinguished by whether won as a [P]layer, [M]anager or [A]ssistant manager.
Takers of setpieces (LCK, RCK, FK, PK) are in very, very dark green after palmares. Simply because a player is down as the free-kick taker does not mean they take all free-kicks, however: those from wide positions, eighty yards from goal and so on will be taken by those in the best position.
Dual nationalities go at the end, after any other shortlist tags, even if the player in question has only ever been capped by Saint Eleanor. Currently these are Sundgren ("dual NRH;" flipped to the Eleanorians of her volition), Vickers ("dual PRH;" Prahecq's national team has never appeared at a major competition), Matsuda ("dual SQR;" appeared at WC91 and won IAC17), Aldra ("dual SRS;" was shortlisted for the Confederates prior to WC100 but was nowhere near making the cut), and Abdullah ("dual QUE;" played for Quebec at the Olympics way back when, although they no longer take part at World Cups).
  8. How to read my roster's player ratings: See between the Roleplay Permissions and the roster proper.
  9. Timestamp: This roster was ICly issued on 1st January 2020. Club information is accurate as of 1st December 2017 - just before TW52, which hasn't OOCly been held - and should be taken as an accurate information of the situation on that date. Faster IFCF cycles, please!

Roleplay Permissions: Yes, but...
  • No fielding a starting lineup that's different to any lineup which I announce before cutoff (although introducing players as substitutes is okay)
  • No more than two red cards or other forms of ruling players out per match, unless I send you a telegram (from Saint Eleanor) or Discord message (from tinhampton) to the contrary
  • No injuries longer than one game or beyond the last sixteen, again unless I say otherwise
  • Please no other violations of bodily autonomy. Yes, that means no deaths too, here or elsewhere in Saint Eleanor. Or of Eleanorians elsewhere :P
  • No trying to remove the manager, her assistants, or Eleanorian government officials from office (this includes no giving my staff members, named or unnamed, red or yellow cards - an area of the IRL Laws of the Game which I strongly disagree with on principle)
  • Absolutely no destruction of Saint Eleanor or significant areas thereof
  • The Eleanorian media - especially SESB and The Reporter - reserves the right to fact-check obviously false claims about the national team and those surrounding it
  • Eleanorians do not take part in anthem protests, taking the knee or other similar political gestures in or around matches - but can, and sometimes do, speak their minds off the pitch

Channel 4 presents THE RACE TO THE WORLD CUP - World Cup 101, lead-up to first qualifying game
WHAT DO THE PLAYER RATINGS IN SAINT ELEANOR'S TEAMSHEET MEAN?

Report by Candy Hewitt, Channel 4 football analyst: With Saint Eleanor becoming a more and more important nation in the world of football - and certainly one of the most important pound-for-pound - it is just as crucial that people both within and beyond Saint Eleanor know exactly what they can expect from our men and women in black. While I have continued to publish my player ratings here on four.ex as always, you might have noticed that they are now included by SEFA in the official roster for the World Cup, not only giving them a wider reach but also requiring a bit of further explanation for those of you who might not be familiar with them.
First things first, I've given these ratings to everyone on the team - including the staff, as the attributes are based on broad-stroke quality and mental attributes rather than (necessarily) physicality. It's also important to remember that these are my opinions only (although they are well-informed ones) and may not necessarily be statements of fact (although they may well be pretty close to it).
Each person is assessed on an overall scale, and then on six discrete ability scales.
--> The first rating you see, the player In their position, is the most important. This is not a composite measure of the six ability scales. It is an overall assessment of the quality of each player, compared to other players in their positions. It is - for example - possible for an A-tier player to have S+-tier, S-tier, B-tier, or C-tier abilities, although they will generally be As.
--> The second rating is for Teamwork. This measures the player's ability to work together with their teammates, on and off the pitch, to achieve high-quality outcomes. Players with high teamwork scores have good relationships with their teammates in all aspects; extremely good relationships with most or all of the team provide a bigger boost.
--> The third rating is for Adaptability. This measures the player's ability to adapt to potential situations beyond the duties they are expected to perform in their position. Sudden changes, or switches in position, would count as adaptability; "sweeper-keepers" do not automatically get high adaptability scores.
--> The fourth rating is for Courage under fire. This measures the player's ability to cope with struggle, change, and shock - such as dressing room revolts, going 2-0 down inside fifteen minutes, and huddling together with a player down. Whereas adaptability considers positional and tactical surprises, this considers "permanent shocks" that require a full-throttled rethink in approach.
--> The fifth rating is for Creative thinking. This measures the player's ability to come up with innovative solutions to problems, on and off the pitch. Creative thinking is not the same thing as creativity or flair (or, heaven forbid, showboating) - it means being able to think of unexpected approaches that nevertheless work perfectly.
--> The sixth rating is for Diplomacy. This measures the player's ability to resolve disputes, matchmake, organise meetings, and keep everyone satisfied if needs must. It doesn't measure the same thing as teamwork, which focuses on the strength of pre-existing relationships rather than protecting and negotiating them.
--> The final rating is for Forthrightness. This measures the player's ability to speak their mind, make their expectations clear, and (to some extent) influence people. Eleanorians are tradtionally pretty good at this; players with higher forthrightness scores are more direct and more persuasive, those with lower scores are weak and waffly.
There are seven possible scores that can be assigned to each rating, each relative to other players in their positions. Scores can vary from time to time - who knew that Magnws-rym would be one of the breakout stars of WC99 at the start of BoF86?
--> S+ is, by definition, only given to one or maybe two players in each position - keeping in mind that some teams field two or three centrebacks, one or two strikers, CAMs and CDMs instead of flat central midfielders... - for a worldwide total of around 15 S+ players in their positions. (Of course, there are a notable number of players who may be S-tier or A-tier in their position, but who nevertheless have one or two S+ abilities.) These players are better than anyone else in their position at what they do. Lavrentiy Xuen-Zhukov is the S+ striker; Laborious Hawk is the S+ attacking midfielder. They could slot into any team in the world, not just - for example - Chromatika, Montreal Koreana, Valanora, and Myana. They are the starters on the World XI.
--> S is given to around 4-6 players in each position, for a worldwide total of around 55 S players. These players aren't the absolute greatest in the world - they'd be the World XI's substitutes and reserves - but they can certainly match up to the best teams and would have an excellent chance at starting for all but the most absolutely-stacked teams in the real world.
--> A is given to around 20-25 players in each position, for a worldwide total of around 250 A players. These players would be good enough to start for most teams in Qualifying Pot 1, or to veritably star for a good regionals-only team such as Taxhavn or Demot, but might not be necessarily good enough to break into the starting lineup of a very high-ranked team such as Valanora and Aphrilia (although that's not to say that the Elves or the Anchors don't necessarily have A-tier starters; the Eleanorians certainly have them in spades, despite their newly-found #2 ranking). Saint Eleanor has predominantly been an A-tier side since Gentle Breeze took over at CoH87 (WC95), as Saint Eleanor has improved - or, if you're feeling cynical, consolidated - in quality and consistently avoided missteps in qualifying.
--> B is given to around 40-60 players in each position, for a worldwide total of around 525 B players. These players are first-call substitutes for good teams such as Saint Eleanor, but are out-and-out starters for the kinds of team that flit between the World Cup finals and the Cup of Harmony. Any player who consistently hits the B-tier in terms of both position and abilities - no matter what their nationality - can consider themselves to have done a good job at this whole football thing. Saint Eleanor was dominated by B-tier players after qualifying for WC91, as new stars came through the ranks.
--> C is given to around 75-100 players in each position, for a worldwide total of around 960 C players. These players are of sufficient calibre that they keep turning up at the Cup of Harmony every other year, with varying levels of success. However, they don't quite have what it takes either to play in the World Cup finals nor to qualify for the big one. If they're on a good national team, you should expect limited game time from them, given their relatively low status in the pecking order. Saint Eleanor was dominated by C-tier players in its earliest years, as it started to find its level.
--> D is given to around 150-200 players in each position, for a worldwide total of around 1,920 D players. Saint Eleanor will be playing many teams without publicised rosters, as will virtually every other team in the tournament, but there's a good chance that a lot of their players on any of those teams will be D-tier, with a smattering of F-tier no-hopers. D-tier players are also milling around the lower professional realms of good IFCF league systems, the summit of new IFCF league systems, and the reserves of okay-but-not-good teams with known rosters. Some D-tier players are underdeveloped and need a bit of love; others have decayed from their peak; a few are hanging on for emotional support, encouragement, and continuity.
--> F is given to everyone else in the world, namely people who aren't cut out for international football. There are billions upon billions of F players. Everyone, or close to it, is born as an F-tier player with a full deck of F-tier abilities; it takes a lot of hard work over time to improve. You can lapse back into F status if you fall out of practice or you have disgraced your reputation so thoroughly - even if you're actually good at football - that you are de facto no longer welcome in the sport.

****** The Grand Republic of Saint Eleanor - area 2,863mi2, population 489,816, 1.6 cups of coffee/Eleanorian/day - it's 2000 (OOC: obvious Tinhampton puppet)
BoF76 quarterfinalists --- WC91 participants

Why? George Mitcham, General then and now, cofounded the National Liberation Front in 1971 to demand a free Saint Eleanor. He got his wish in '75 after a 15-month war: becoming President, appointing notable NLF friends and some charity's executive director as VPs and calling them legislators. He has retained power through oil money; zero income tax; free healthcare, schooling, public transport - and markets; tolerating dissent on apolitical matters; allowing private gun ownership (with plenty of training) to protect against future invasions; high-quality PR; and football.

Eleanorian national team roster for the 102nd World Cup (II)

Postby Saint Eleanor » Thu Oct 08, 2026 10:25 am

The Eleanorian roster will be in two parts due to its length.
Part 1 (above) contained a list of players and staff, a comprehensive guide to player ratings, and a series of OOC notes about the roster.

Biographies (written by Jamie Rodgers, chief football correspondent of Saint Eleanor State Broadcasting)

Player ratings are in the measured (and potentially inaccurate) opinion of Candy Hewitt, long-serving football analyst of SESB's fierce commercial rivals Channel 4, relative to other players in their positions:
S+ = best in the world ~~~ S = world-class ~~~ A = worthy of a regular starter ~~~ B = worthy of someone "on the bubble" ~~~ C = worthy of a reservist ~~~ D = barely up to minimum standards ~~~ F = unsuitable for the team

1: Kirsti Sundgren --- position: goalkeeper --- age: 34 (born 1985) --- club: Athletic Saint Eleanor [EXT] --- height: 6ft1¼in (186cm) ~ Norrish dual national by birth
Ratings: In her position: S --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: S --- Courage under fire: S --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: would much rather have a herbal tea instead --- appearance: light brown, normally-ponytailed hair; almost-obviously high cheekbones; the weight of interregional expectations --- parental occupations: massage therapist (father); pet groomer (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: lurking from dodgy tabloid to dodgy tabloid, pushing out ranty freelance opinion pieces

While the callups of several Eleanorian footballers has been questioned in the past, few have been challenged more vigorously than Sundgren's introduction to the squad, having until very recently served quite the tour of duty with Norrhem's national team in recent Cope Rushmori. Although about as good a fit for the national mould as you would expect a dreadfully sarcastic lady who joined Athletic almost by accident from the Ko-orenite third division to be - that is, a rather good one - arguments have raged about offering her citizenship in the first instance was even proper. All parties officially involved think it is, however, and it might prove to be an inspired one given her command of things and the fact that she has proven to be a more-than-effective member of possibly the greatest defensive unit in League history, outside of Indy and the 1980s Army.

2: Edward Ruthan --- position: leftback --- age: 31 (born 17/11/1988) --- club: Hiyashi Celestia [EXT] --- height: 5ft9in (175cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: trimmed brown hair; blue eyes; the nariest hint of a beard --- parental occupations: Intershop store manager (father); florist (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: filling in what few potholes remain in and around Broadlands district

It has often been said that the White Stars are "a great team made up of good players" - and Ruthan certainly would not see himself as one of the greatest ever to do it, having been a quietly competent part of Celestia's backline for about as long as he has actually been at the club. It is clear that he has gotten a good chunk of the advanced stuff right, as well as all of the basics: certainly a good quality to have in a man who is likely to serve out a few cycles playing in perhaps the most underrated position of all in any starting lineup, never mind post-Coombe Saint Eleanor, before checking out. The team's success may hinge more than you think on his ability to work well with and without the ball, or someone on his tail.

3: Keith Barnett --- position: rightback --- age: 31 (born 27/05/1988) --- club: Good Hope Club [EXT] --- height: 5ft9in (175cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: well-kept black hair; brown eyes; barely noticeable facial hair, on a good day --- parental occupations: Eleanorian Post deliverer (father); hairstylist (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: selling tickets to the Good Hope Stadium, while looking for a less morally transient job

Like many of Saint Eleanor's newer players, Barnett is a thoroughly boring player: someone who can, and arguably must, do his job; who has a firm grounding in both sides of the game; who has been perenially tipped for a move to somewhere, perhaps anywhere, else; and who has very much adapted to being a jack of many, if not all, tricks - all very "nothing to see here." However, his relative youth comes as an advantage: he is "only" thirty, still has many cycles ahead of him, is one of Mary Kirkport's most cherished players, and is hardly hated by anyone (although his relative lack of star power might account for that, as well).

4: Lydia Vickers --- position: centreback --- age: 32 (born 06/09/1987) --- club: Athletic Saint Eleanor [EXT] --- height: 5ft11in (180cm) ~ Prahecqois dual national by birth
Ratings: In her position: S --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: S --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: short blonde hair; green eyes --- parental occupations: decently high-ranking Eleanorian government official (father); cleaner (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: an Eleanorian diplomat of some sort somewhere in the azertophonie world

As well as having made an instant positive impression on everyone involved - even the Indy fans - Vickers is tough, somewhat irritating to get up against and almost a pure defender (if not exactly, given that she's been known to get forwards when appropriate); some would describe her as a better-behaved, less vocal Sam Newbridge. Although privately-educated, firmly religious and softly-spoken off the pitch, there is almost no mistaking either the excellent relationship she had with Launceston (and subsequently with Wilson, despite the club rivalry) or the strong nature of her defending, whether physically or attributionally - and her election as captain has already vindicated many of her supporters, given the output.

5: Rosanna George --- position: centreback --- age: 24 (born 01/03/1995) --- club: Golden Unicorn [EXT] --- height: 5ft11in (180cm)
Ratings: In her position: S --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: S --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: S+

coffee preference: milk and one sugar --- appearance: poker-straight blonde ponytail; blue eyes --- parental occupations: ambulance driver (father); interior designer (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: the drill sergeant for a wanton band of private military contractors

It is always a compliment when Jaclyn Foley - not one to shy away from a good argument herself - calls you "possibly the sassiest person I have ever worked with." Aside from landing on the inside back cover of the newspaper once every few weeks, George is genuinely a good defender: it helps that, much like Vickers, she has a Charles Trump Shield gold medal and tenure with the cheer squad. Her ability to command the press and the defence should also come in useful, especially if she can avoid trying to overtake the much-loved captain - and, in practice, nobody should have any good-faith complaints about her interpersonal acumen, willingness to break open attacks and defend further forward when the situation requires it.

6: Maria Morgan --- position: central midfielder; will fill in anywhere nearby if necessary, especially CDM --- age: 33 (born 06/12/1986) --- club: Hiyashi Celestia [EXT] --- height: 5ft9in (175cm)
Ratings: In her position: A --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: C --- Forthrightness: S+

coffee preference: milk and one sugar --- appearance: black ponytail; dark blue eyes; an almost neatly circular face --- parental occupations: barista at Broadlands Metro station's coffee shop (father); vintage clothes retailer (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: conducting undercover investigations for the Evening News

Morgan is about as enigmatic as you would expect an Eleanorian to be, which is "reasonably so, under the circumstances." Conventionally a common-and-garden central midfielder, she has all too often been typecast - including by many of Celestia's faithful and even in this very roster - as a pivotal defensive midfielder, perhaps rightly so. Yet her occasional attacking verve must never be underestimated when it emerges from the deep, she has nowhere near the aggressive reputation of her forebear Nicholls... and she might as well only ever utter sarcasm, given her general dislike for extraneous conversation and her preference for good literature and, occasionally, good cinema.

7: Elizabeth Wootton --- position: left midfielder --- age: 26 (born 03/12/1993) --- club: Independence 1975 [EXT] --- height: 5ft7in (170cm)
Ratings: In her position: S --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: S --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: S+ --- Diplomacy: S --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: no milk, two sugars --- appearance: black ponytail; blue, and occasionally shifty, eyes --- parental occupations: general practitioner (father); Central District Council's head of internal communications (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: a multiversally-famous pop singer who wants to relish the limelight but secretly hates it

It is ironic that the woman who once said "I like following orders!" with undeniable enthusiasm in a television interview - albeit in a country of people who like following orders - is, in all reality, pretty good at setting the pace for Indy's attack when it's called for. Wootton's ability to time herself, get the ball where it's needed (even if it sometimes seems like it's in the wrong place altogether), and keep her opponents and her sanity in check are to be noted. Entrusted with an immediate starting position for country as she was for club, one would hope that her performances exceed her diligence or her typically dry humour.

8: Kichirō Matsuda [Wunderbar Quatro] --- position: central midfielder, leaning CDM --- age: 35 (created 1984) --- club: Independence 1975 [EXT] --- height: 6ft2in (188cm) ~ Squidroidian dual national by birth
Ratings: In his position: S+ --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: S --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: black, but with just a little cream --- appearance: almost-perfect black hair; brown eyes --- parental occupations: none; created in a lab
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: an engineer for some vehicle manufacturer you've never heard of. But we all know he was doomed to be a footballer

Does this man need any introduction? As it turns out, yes: one of the six Wunderbars who took Squidroidia to such places as the World Cup knockouts and the Independents Cup trophy-lift, Quatro moved to Saint Eleanor shortly after his homeland's withdrawal from international football and has arguably done better for himself than any of his peers. On his best days, he can be one of the best in the world, just as originally advertised: calm, composed, able to shift from attack to defence without a second thought, and proven quality on the highest level (including the knockout stages of both major IFCF tournaments, two Cup Winners' Cup finals and multiple World Cup rounds of sixteen). On his worst days, though, he can get mad - very mad - and has already clocked up a few red cards for the trouble. It's very likely you'll get the nice Matsuda when it comes to it... but it's absolutely not certain.

9: Isabella Bright [Army rank: Private] --- position: striker --- age: 30 (born 19/01/1989) --- club: Army and Navy [EXT] --- height: 5ft9in (175cm)
Ratings: In her position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: C --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: standard-issue black --- appearance: reasonably short, dark brown hair; hazel eyes --- parental occupations: warehouse stockist (father); assembly line worker at the Hiyashi factory (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: literally blowing things up on behalf of the Army. which she already is doing, anyway

As befits her name, Bright is one of the most imaginative and provocative members of the national team... off the field. She has said - with various levels of believability - that she voluntarily chose to serve in the Army for non-sporting reasons, that Army and Navy itself would be better if they adopted a more attacking tilt, that Lydia Vickers would make such a good captain because "she knows what she wants" (before she got elected) and that she herself is "probably not good enough to start" (even though that fate has now been thrust upon her). Despite being reasonably unremarkable as an actual player - just about fast, strong, and accurate enough to force her way past opponents - her relatively goal-hunting attitude to the game does at least manage to distinguish herself from many of her compatriot strikers.

10: Gisken Aldra --- position: central midfielder, more attacking if anything --- age: 29 (born 1990) --- club: Polytechnic Institute [EXT] --- height: 5ft8in (173cm)
Ratings: In their position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: short black hair; brown eyes; just the slightest touch of mystery around them --- parental occupations: not known to SEFA
if they weren't a footballer, they'd probably be: a much less bookish socialite than Katie O'Donnell ever would be

Aldra is not only more dramatic than most, but might be the most outrageous footballer Saint Eleanor has ever seen - whether it be their tendency to go all-out when going out, their status as the only non-binary player in the League not to hail from Qusmo, the circumstances surrounding their marriage, or the fact that they flipped to the Eleanorians almost out of dissatisfaction with being overlooked by the Squornshelan FA. On the field, they have unsurprisingly been a rather effective member of the Polytechnic's attacking setup, and one who was rather lucky never to actually get sent off despite their rare tendencies to go off the handle ("the one and only time I'll ever accept comparisons with Wunderbar," they said after one such incident). Anyone who can do well on a team that was for many years infamous for its low quality will surely do just fine for the second-best national team on the planet, not even two points behind the world champions... yes, the very same Squornshelan Remnant States.

11: Naclé Öhân --- position: right midfielder --- age: 31 (born 05/05/1988) --- club: Sword and Shield [EXT] --- height: 5ft7in (170cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: standard-issue black --- appearance: short black hair; blue eyes; usually clean-shaven --- parental occupations: bartender at one of the local private pubs (father); certified firearm safety trainer (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: trying his level best to work the night shift at his nearest White Star fuel station

The first ethnically Rulandese player ever to turn up for the White Stars, Öhân has been pointedly described by former Arsenal captain and national team member Hugh Roanoke as "a good method actor." As usual, the comment is not that far off the mark: he is an effective, if somewhat disorganised, operator who has all the attacking skills expected of a wide player, is about as good at defending as you would expect a Rulandese man in his position to be, and has shown enough further dedication to his craft that he is already appearing in the starting lineup, having beaten out allcomers and then the once-remarkable Northend into the job.

12: Michelle Addison --- position: right midfielder --- age: 29 (born 27/02/1990) --- club: Polytechnic Institute [EXT] --- height: 5ft6in (168cm)
Ratings: In her position: B --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: B

coffee preference: almond milk and no sugar --- appearance: almost overly-curly brown hair; brown eyes --- parental occupations: murdered on peacetime Army duty (father); Eleanorian Water customer support agent (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: the somewhat-unhelpful bookseller who keeps the Polytechnic's bookstore open past 7pm

One of the more remarkable annoyances in the modern Polytechnic Institute's history, Addison is refreshingly at home with the national team's flexible setup, if still only a substitute at that. Her ability to run the line, manage her pace (and, if necessary, place), get focused crosses into the box, and confuse opposition defenders is on a level unmatched not only among her forebears at the Poly, but also among just about any other Eleanorian wide midfielder of her age. Despite being a child of the 4-4-2 system who has never really seen fit to be a perennial goalscorer, Addison is nonetheless an effective attacking player in most other aspects, and one who is therefore ideally placed to provide both emergency and not-so-urgent backup.

13: Abdullah Ibn Salam --- position: goalkeeper --- age: 25 (born 1994) --- club: Good Hope Club [EXT] --- height: 6ft6¾in (200cm) ~ Quebecois dual national by birth
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: S --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: "coffee" --- appearance: long dreadlocks; clean-shaven face; about as much as an ego as you'd expect --- parental occupations: Quebecois citizen, occupation not known to SEFA (father); low-level Eleanorian Post staffer (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: doing anything that pays a decent wage and gets him into something resembling middle-class life

Already being one of the wilder characters in Eleanorian football history comes with the territory for Abdullah - a man who was, and arguably still is, desperate to escape from the Dockside, continues to play for the local club out of some kind of loyalty, served an Olympic cycle with Quebec and did so on just about the right side of "a dubious pretext," has been known to go to parties and then wake up in places much more unexpected than his personal home, and is possibly warier of making new friends than almost anyone else who's even made it onto the team in the past two decades. On the field, he is actually a dependable character, albeit one who can have his moments of madness; off it, he rivals Gisken Aldra in terms of pure controversy and infamy.

14: Lily Emmerson --- position: left midfielder --- age: 33 (born 20/09/1986) --- club: Occidental Olympic [EXT] --- height: 5ft6in (168cm)
Ratings: In her position: B --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and one sugar --- appearance: light brown ponytail; darker brown eyes --- parental occupations: OPAL warehouse forklift operator (father); customer service agent (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: delivering government-mandated gun safety training at her local World of Safety firearms store

Praised early on in her career by Naresmet taFrexala as "almost as annoying as she's good" - not a bad compliment from one of the defenders who's gotten to know how she plays best - Emmerson inherited Olympic's left from former captain Samuel Short and has since proceeded to behave almost exactly unlike him. She more than knows how to attack and go for goal with aplomb, she has enough skill in her to really evade defenders, she can be assertive when she has (even physically so, despite her size) and she is generally an extremely creative player in a team and a league that values creativity little. If she can't deliver, hardly anyone in her position can.

15: Lydia Nicholls --- position: central midfielder; now fairly adept at CDM --- age: 39 (born 11/10/1980) --- club: Heart of Saguenay [QUE] --- height: 6ft0in (183cm)
Ratings: In her position: B --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: standard-issue black --- appearance: short ginger hair with the freckles to match; brown eyes --- parental occupations: line manager at the Hiyashi factory (father); actually-trustworthy car saleswoman (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: working for the First Bank of Saint Eleanor's investment banking division

In the absolutely politest sense possible, Lydia Nicholls has no morals whatsoever. Some of those who have met her insist that she is a rather nice - even wonderful - person who'll most likely leave you alone but has no tolerance for inane bullshit or otherwise veiled threats. This might be true off the pitch (please ignore the fact she has two young children already), but there is very little chance of her leaving you alone on it, especially not if you look like you might be threatening a goal. This is not to say she is indiscriminate or that stopping the opposition at all costs is her only strategy - of course she also knows how the old Eleanorian arts of distribution work, despite not being particularly fond of going forward for the most part - but it is, at least at this moment, what she is best known for. That and her lob from the halfway line against Juventud many moons ago. And what she did in the IFCF after that.

16: Diana Gray --- position: centreback --- age: 29 (born 23/07/1990) --- club: Occidental Olympic [EXT] --- height: 5ft10in (178cm)
Ratings: In her position: B --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and one sugar --- appearance: long black hair; brown eyes --- parental occupations: owner of the local Torch franchise (father); fuel station attendant (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: shooting and killing local wrongdoers on behalf of the Army

While a grossly underrated player, Gray has won enough plaudits at the club level that her callup to the national team is surely a sign that the long centreback crisis is finally over. Ironically, she has a fair amount of similarities to Esther Launceston, the woman whose arrival heralded it for seasoned watchers of the game - she tends to stay back, move the ball about, and is not afraid to win it back if needs absolutely must - although she's much less accomplished, not that tall, not one to cheerlead when it's not necessary, and quite obviously a bit less creative on and off the field.

17: Kevin O'Leary --- position: striker --- age: 27 (born 06/03/1992) --- club: Premier Club [EXT] --- height: 5ft10in (178cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: S --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: B

coffee preference: milk and one sugar --- appearance: fuzzy black hair; brown eyes; well-trimmed beard --- parental occupations: retired Army sergeant (father); hotel receptionist (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: the resident conservative talking-head/punching-bag on Channel 5's World Perspectives

O'Leary is undoubtedly a controversial figure, not because of any of his personal scandals (he has the expected zero) or even his incompetence (he's been widely praised, as much as a Premier man can be), but because he was romantically linked with Lydia Falconer - whose Atlas CS beat his Boys Prep to the Charles Trump Shield - for a few weeks in the summer of 2015. Almost forced to become a complete striker by the situations that Premier Club often find themselves in, his fluidity, pace, positional awareness (which does actually exist), and undeniable ability to get his shots on target if not better should serve the team well should his services ever be required in place of, or even alongside, the contrasting Bright - much as she commended herself after Olympia Woodward's many unfortunate injuries.

18: Matt Morrison --- position: centreback --- age: 32 (born 10/06/1987) --- club: Independence 1975 [EXT] --- height: 6ft0in (183cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: no milk, two sugars --- appearance: short, somewhat shaggy blonde hair; blue eyes; the look of frustration --- parental occupations: garden centre employee (father); bartender at one of the private pubs (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: loitering on the street, looking to show random yobs their place in society

Morrison has repeatedly sworn up and down that, for all her mentoring, he is not just the male Katy Wilson. You could be mistaken for thinking that they had similar playstyles - both are tough, fair, and distributional - but Morrison has nowhere near her leadership chops, is markedly less middle-class, doesn't have as many remarkable individual achievements, and would much rather speak his mind if that means getting a few people upset. By the admission of many, he is largely here to tide the squad over while a new generation of defenders comes through the ranks, but this is obviously not to demean his essential role as one of the defensive bedrocks behind his club's recent accomplishments, or perhaps his ability to influence change in this ongoing soft-transition period.

19: Bill Henderson --- position: attacking midfielder --- age: 25 (born 08/12/1994) --- club: Newbanks United [EXT] --- height: 5ft7in (170cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: S --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: black hair; blue eyes; perfectly-shaven face --- parental occupations: retired Army lieutenant (father); secondary school head of geography (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: the man who does press conferences on behalf of Central district's Major

To say that Henderson has been an instrumental part of Newbanks' United recent successes, or at least lack of failures, would be a gross understatement. He has drawn comparisons to Steve Pilchard - you be the judge of how warranted they are - given his willingness to set up the play, work in true harmony with his strikers when attacking, and know exactly when and how to go for goal. It also helps that he can hold onto the ball well, something Pilchard was never particularly famous for, and that he has consistently spoken up about any manner of things, even in private, without being obnoxious - both of which are helpful attributes to have when it comes to helping the team out, even despite Aldra's continued dominance of the attacking midfield position.

20: John Millcroft --- position: rightback --- age: 25 (born 20/02/1994) --- club: Athletic Saint Eleanor [EXT] --- height: 6ft0in (182cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: standard-issue black --- appearance: black hair; brown eyes; a half-decent beard --- parental occupations: convenience store owner (father); Ministry of Finance caseworker (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be:

The much-beloved "Big John," for all his imperfections, has evolved to become perhaps Saint Eleanor's first genuinely good fullback since Keith Barnett. Much like Barnett, he is pragmatic, but he differs in not necessarily being a perfectly flexible player; he tends to stay behind when the press doesn't call him to do otherwise, has helped to rouse oncoming left midfielders - if not by force then by keeping them long enough to make a mistake - and is a sharp passer as we have expected from our defenders for years. Millcroft's more defensive tilt might well work in his favour if he's given the opportunity, beyond his simply being a skilful player, given Öhân's longstanding pattern of attack-mindedness ahead of him.

21: Tina Falconer --- position: leftback --- age: 37 (born 25/03/1982) --- club: Good Hope Club [EXT] --- height: 5ft6in (168cm)
Ratings: In her position: B --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: no milk, one sugar --- appearance: neat brown ponytail; brown eyes --- parental occupations: tree surgeon (father); NLF Club administrator (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: a nurse with the Eleanorian Health Services

Part of one of the best generations of footballers ever raised by the Trident Community School, Falconer has proven herself to be an eager fullback... perhaps too eager. More of a conservative, linehugging sort than most, she has slowly started to gain a reputation for pushing up as needs be when the designated wide midfielder cuts inside (and many of them do, even at GHC), while also proving herself to be hotheaded in her dealings with attacking players from the right flank even when they aren't playing for Grand Beach. Yes, she can be a fun person on and off the pitch - and often is - but her serious side is outrageously driven, even if it's relatively harder to get on the wrong side of it just through your own actions.

22: Ian Marks --- position: striker --- age: 33 (born 05/07/1986) --- club: Independence 1975 [EXT] --- height: 5ft11in (180cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: B

coffee preference: standard-issue black --- appearance: well-trimmed brown hair; imperfectly-trimmed facial hair, on a good day; blue eyes --- parental occupations: electrician (father); died during peacetime Army service (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: illegally selling inordinate numbers of cigarettes on the streets of Buckhead

Marks is, almost by necessity given the setup at his club, a good-old-fashioned centre-forward who will hang out in front of goal, bang in a bit more than one every two games and annoy a fair few people - as well as someone who can and will work with Kavezalea Felaraneta, or indeed whoever is around him, in order to make sure that no attacking opportunity goes to waste. Although he is no Dortmün Çídh, he is more than good enough to get the job done virtually every time for a club that is desperately looking to regain its long-held mantle as the nation's best, and should do the same for his country on the rare few occasions that he gets a chance to.

23: Robby Ellis --- position: goalkeeper --- age: 35 (born 16/10/1984) --- club: Independence 1975 [EXT] --- height: 6ft0in (182cm)
Ratings: In his position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: B --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: "coffee" --- appearance: shorter-than-average black hair; blue eyes --- parental occupations: firefighter (father); Army logistics worker (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: Bill Patrick's assistant manager at the Eleanorian Academy

There are two things that can readily be said about Robby Ellis: he is boring and he has had the good fortune to crest a recent wave of excellent finishes for Indy. A solid but nondescript goalkeeper who can handle just about anything that comes towards him, he isn't a man-manager so much as he is someone who can mind his own business and leave the better defenders out of it. When you're with the national team, or the nation's team, you know you'll have good defenders (almost interchangably so) - meaning that he won't have much of a problem beyond getting stuck behind the two best goalkeepers in the country in the pecking order.

24: Katy Wilson --- position: centreback, "without apology" --- age: 35 (born 23/07/1984) --- club: Independence 1975 [EXT] --- height: 5ft10in (178cm)
Ratings: In her position: A --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: A --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and one sugar --- appearance: short but wavy black hair; brown eyes --- parental occupations: primary school headteacher (father); hospital clerk (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: selling tobacco to anyone who needed it, for "a fair price"

Wilson's callup to Indy was a bit of a gamble. It paid off, judging by the fact that her callup here is not. What can easily be said about her is that she is one of the most responsible players this nation has ever seen - she took Matt Morrison under her wing a few years into her career; both now both play for Indy and just about any defender can learn her lessons on how to get the ball cleanly, how to pass it to the right person at the right time, when to co-ordinate the press (if it's necessary)... and, as Avondale City once learned, when it's justified to get out there and latch onto that setpiece. Though her time in the starting lineup has been and gone by now, she will always be one for the future - a cult hero, so to speak.

25: Âlárî Dírò --- position: attacking midfielder, at least on the chalkboard --- age: 25 (born 16/07/1994) --- club: Occidental Olympic [EXT] --- height: 5ft9in (175cm)
Ratings: In his position: B --- Teamwork: B --- Adaptability: A --- Courage under fire: B --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: short black hair; brown eyes; sometimes deep in thought --- parental occupations: died while on duty with the Eleanorian Fire Brigade (father); graphic designer (mother)
if he wasn't a footballer, he'd probably be: a pushy maths teacher whose methods get his students just-about-above-average results

In letter the heir to Steve Pilchard at the rear of Olympic's front three, Dírò is in spirit a somewhat more proactive, pragmatic man - someone who can move the ball to his strikers (and wingers), move the ball past his strikers (and the backline), and move so far away that he might actually stand a chance of helping out the defence (his personal background be damned). Although a relatively typical figure other than that, with his willingness to speak his mind and his rarely-utilised yet powerful ability to surprise when it counts, he should be ready for most of what comes at him if he is fielded, and perhaps all of it given enough time and space.

26: Jessica Black --- position: striker --- age: 25 (born 11/11/1997) --- club: Athletic Saint Eleanor [EXT] --- height: 5ft10in (175cm)
Ratings: In her position: A --- Teamwork: A --- Adaptability: B --- Courage under fire: S --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: B --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and two sugars; would secretly rather get an iced coffee from the supermarket --- appearance: long brown hair; brown eyes --- parental occupations: IT support worker (father); died of breast cancer when Jessica was aged two (mother)
if she wasn't a footballer, she'd probably be: a nurse, and probably a willingly overworked one at that

One of the most widely-praised talents to come up through Whitehammer CS - and the first member of the national team to be born after their Baptism of Fire - Black has been as determined and courageous, if not quite as seeping in modernity, as you would expect her to. Black has tended to trust her midfield to make attacks happen, and has been happy to help them see it through when they've been better-placed to take the opportunity; though she is not a particularly remarkable striker in any regards, unlike how Rick Goldsmith for country or Amalie Selnes for club were fast but not always perfectly accurate, she does tend to at least come close to finding the target when she has the opportunity - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a solid striker who plays for one of the nation's best attacking outfits being on the team.

==========

Manager: Gentle Breeze --- former position: goalkeeper --- age: 51 --- clubs of note: Whitetail Foresters [EQS], Ponyville Galaxy [EQS], Mardi Lopunnies [NSI], Astograth University [ASG], Northbrook Diamonds FK [PIS], Dwile Warriors [APX], Celtic Noviodunum [NGD], AC Izotz Zubia [AUD], Wyvernscrest [MRN], Herzegovina City FC [BNJ] --- height: ~4ft (122cm) on four legs; ~6ft (183cm) on two legs, but would rather fly if needs must --- nationality: Equestrian
Ratings: In her office: S --- Teamwork: S+ --- Adaptability: S --- Courage under fire: S --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: would much rather have a cup of tea --- appearance: yellow fur, blue mop; take a guess --- parental occupations: not known to SEFA
The record says it all, and not just because it's exhausting to read out. Priscilla Evans, Saint Eleanor's first manager, ran into one clique too far - she was taken down due to a combination of arguably the most unimpressive qualifiers in Eleanorian history, a widely-criticised failure to properly manage the "Class of 2007" on the field, and the largest player revolt ever at the end of it all. Gentle Breeze - one of the greatest Equestrians ever to play hoofball - handled the transition with rather more dignity in her first cycle-and-a-half after retiring from playing; she's kept the more defensive tilt that the side adopted in Evans' final days, although this doesn't indicate that she's a defensive manager so much as it does that she is a manager with a firm but flexible gameplan of the kind that Evans could lack at times.

Assistant Manager: Reniira Clevinger --- former position: centreback --- age: 52 --- clubs of note: Sabrefell Athletic [NPH], Herzegovina City FC [BNJ] --- height: 6ft8in (203cm) --- nationalities: Nepharan (by birth), Eleanorian (by naturalisation)
Ratings: In her office: S --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: S --- Courage under fire: S --- Creative thinking: A --- Diplomacy: A --- Forthrightness: S

coffee preference: "coffee" --- appearance: blue skin; massive pair of horns up top; otherwise perfectly normal --- parental occupations: also not known to SEFA
Roped into the Eleanorian setup on the behest of the new manager, and almost certainly because they both spent their final days with the Trumpeteers, early indications would appear to suggest that Clevinger's other main purpose on the team is to get it moving again (on which count it looks like she's more than succeeded). Something of a goalscoring defender in her time as a player - and I must remind you that she was still playing for Nephara when Saint Eleanor won their Cup of Harmony - Clevinger will broadly be handling the "general outlook" for the team, while Mitcham looks at tactics and Gentle Breeze at the more micro aspects of the system. Whether that means helping to plug gaps in the playbook when necessary, pushing the team to transition between roles more effectively, identifying the best interplay between different positions or telling the press what she's really thinking... well, it means all of those things. Who would I be kidding?

Assistant Manager: Stephen Mitcham [Army rank: Lieutenant] --- former position: none --- age: 54 --- clubs of note: none --- height: 6ft1in (185cm) --- nationality: Eleanorian
Ratings: In his office: S --- Teamwork: S --- Adaptability: S+ --- Courage under fire: S+ --- Creative thinking: S --- Diplomacy: S+ --- Forthrightness: A

coffee preference: milk and no sugar --- appearance: black hair, short back and sides; brown eyes; inappropriately ginormous beard --- parental occupations: President (father); First Lady (mother)
Being Priscilla Evans' assistant was not a fun job. Serving as part of Gentle Breeze's fairly limited experiment in rule by committee has already proven more exciting for Mitcham, who has indicated he will carry on serving the national team until he reaches "an inappropriate age." Having been effectively forced to learn the arts of good communication, better tactics, even higher-quality informal mental healthcare and possibly the best emergency announcements in the world in his first decade on the job, it is the Lieutenant's hope that he will be able to teach the new people the ways of handling a completely unfamiliar squad that may well not be what they're used to. Certainly they will be less stubborn than Evans was...

He has retained power through oil money; zero income tax; free healthcare, schooling, public transport - and markets; tolerating dissent on apolitical matters; allowing private gun ownership (with plenty of training) to protect against future invasions; high-quality PR; and football.

.Naugle-Ancher Gardey Aeráy - National Airannian Football Organization.

Background — After a second consecutive failure to qualify for the World Cup via play-offs (out of two qualifying runs), the Drills are more motivated than ever to, at last, make their debut on the international big stage. The Masrayan goal, scored from the head of Azman Arifin in the 82nd minute nearly two years ago is still burned into the retinas of any fan of the Airannian national team — but unlike last time, this time the national team's happened upon some stability, with a majority of players in Rémenessa's selection having already played in the previous series. More importantly, the national competition has started up again last year, and the first "new" trophy of the national competition is about to be awarded to one of three teams that find themselves in a neck-and-neck race; to be concluded around the same time as the qualifying series' round robin! This promises intensity, excitement and tough scenes; but more importantly raises the question... who in their right mind designed this schedule!?

Quietly the best team in the Constellation. They're not arrogant about it (out loud, that is) but they hang with the best in every Championship. Team is a pretty good mix of everything (ages, positions, styles) but as a result doesn't always have a clear plan.

The original league, if you will. The capital of the Constellation - they like to say this about themselves - but in football they've been overshadowed by bigger, better teams for a while now. That doesn't mean they're all bad, but they're perhaps a little overvalued.

A little slept on by the Constellation but they did beat some quality opposition in the Championship. But we might still not be sure what this team actually is, how good they are, etc. We're going to need a bigger sample size.

OOC Ko-oren puppet.
IC collection of meritocratic nations, with the collection as a whole under Ko-orenite control even if some of its member states can be a little difficult. Some are in free association with Ko-oren, some are fully independent.

Been five cycles since the Martians started competing. How fun. So far, qualifications: one. A new manager has been paid our money, but he'll be sacked if all we get is Harmony. Playoffs at minimum, first is ideal (though second's more realistic, to be real) and we'd like to see something more than our current ranking of fifty-four.
Information
Nickname: The Spiders
Formation: 4-4-2
Colors: Black and rust orange
Manager: Dav der-Ghavyr (EDS)
Captain: Rohan Jowling
Style: +1.618 ((1+sqrt(5))/2, to be exact)
Good? I mean, not reallllllllly.

Bolded players usually start. Feel free to make a couple changes.

GK - Txomin Lizzaralde - 25 - CD Silbhería (PCT)
GK - Ambrose Pritchard - 27 - Katzestadt Rovers (KAT)
GK - Pavl Zinchenko - 18 - Boerne Milers SC (HCT)

Third place at CAFA 14 on home soil means not that many changes have been made, apart from some older backups moving on from the squad even as they continue their careers abroad - in Edwin Mercurio's case, that's CS Fetto in Pomachetti, though the first-choice keeper Lizzaralde will rival him in that nation. It's rather interesting, because Pritchard is definitely better on paper but has failed to step up when needed most. He might see playing time against some of the minnows this tournament, but that also might not happen because the Martians need every point they can get. Plus, Lizzaralde is taller by a good four centimeters. Zinchenko is there for travel and work experience and cynical comments over Earl Grey tea on early morning ferry rides but not much else.

DF - Scarlett Fenton - 26 - Sansarria (PCT)
DF - Li Cheng - 28 - CS Eundrán (PCT)
DF - Abir Mohammed - 23 - Limmiera FC (SGD)
DF - JJ Norton - 24 - Claon Miele (PCT)

DF - Yulia Qiu - 23 - AS Virtus 1904 FF (LIS)
DF - Adarnase Yenukidze - 29 - Random Penguins XI (PDT)
DF - Miroslav Jovanovic - 22 - CS Coecria (PCT)
DF - Dwayne Bexton - 21 - AC Urbsclawydraeksterlutrja (PDT)

Pomachetti's clubs came in and picked up a bunch of NTers near the end of the window. Mohammed's the only starter not there, instead plying his trade rather non-pacily for a right back at Limmiera FC in Solgavden. Scarlett Fenton is rather good at backgammon but there's not much interesting about her. JJ Norton spent some time in Taxhavn before mysterious events send them onward. Li's favorite word is "quincentennial". Bexton on the left for the backups, Qiu and Jovanovic in the middle, Yenukidze on the right. If Arran was still manager Bexton would be better than "last listed player" but ah well. Yenukidze might get a bit more playing time given that he only has this and maybe next cycle left in him.

MF - Giovanni Caballi - 28 - Querentes Oeopolis (ERP)
MF - Albert Carver - 34 - CSC Elto (PCT)
MF - Harvey Astor - 30 - Atlas FC (LIS)
MF - Duncan Sato-Gray - 22 - Bul Khungur Miners (TKT)

MF - Andrey Ivanov - 26 - Aeolis United (MIR)
MF - Kristyn Zardano - 22 - Club Sparta FF (LIS)
MF - Nombeko Chase - 29 - Sunrise Aeolis (MIR)
MF - Alice Dodgson - 18 - Ranford & Willsbrook (KYP)

Caballi and Carver's last journey out there into World Cup Qualifying together begins here, as the latter has indicated his desire to retire from NT play at the end of this cycle. Astor is underappreciated because he doesn't score a ton of goals, but he's quite useful just as a central midfielder. Sato-Gray is making the most money of any midfielder, which feels wrong but so goes Tikariot. Dodgson seems to be the next big thing, while Zardano seems to be the next small thing, and Nombeko Chase is the current small thing.

FW - Rohan Jowling (c) - 36 - Emerald Coast AC (SRS)
FW - Luke Garamond - 30 - Vennesberg United (SGD)

FW - Feliks Kalnins - 20 - Wonghia Saint Lupain (SAT)
FW - Ana De La Cruz - 20 - Kosmo Lunaris (SGD)

Jowling says "I've got one more in me" and he may, but he certainly doesn't have two more in him. We love Luke Garamond but we don't love his ego but Jowling can get him to chill out. Quinn Taupling is injured and didn't get a callup but might out of all the people not rostered show up once or twice. It's unclear. The two youngsters are protecting their spots on the NT, anyway, as Kalnins impressed at the Di Bradini Cup.

The Spiders will play their home games against Ko-oren, Yesopalitha, and Tomerion at National Stadium (cap. 10,000) in Aeolis Base, the capital of the MIR and home to Aeolis United. It will always be cold and never be windy there, and you'll have to wear special clothing and use a special ball to make it feel like normal football - the ball will soar slightly higher due to the weakening of the magnets, but it's the closest that we can do. They will play their home game against Myrtle Beach at Xuesen Stadium (cap. 3,200) in Aeolis Base - same conditions as National, but the fans will be louder and closer to you and wearing more red. They will play their home game against Afinnaus at James Stadium (cap. 4,750) in Huygens Base - slightly warmer, same weird ball, better pastries at the stadium, worse public transit. They will play their home game against Tikariot at Kovalevskaya Field (cap. 800 + standing room) in Milankovic Base - cold, miserable, cold and miserable, and very Russian-speaking. Expect a lot more than 800 people there, and also expect to watch this game on streaming services.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes - individual Martians are generally less likely to score multiple goals in a match, but this isn't a hard-and-fast rule.
Godmod scoring events: Ask first (DM preferred but TGs are also fine)
RP injuries to my players: Yes
Godmod injuries to my players: Ask first (DM preferred but TGs are also fine)
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out red cards to my players: One's fine, otherwise ask first (DM preferred but TGs are also fine)

If they, for some reason, find it necessary to represent my players with images, will solely use these: Images made by M. C. Escher

Loyo returns to WC Qualifying with a new manager and new hopes. Vasily Markov is the team's first international manager, coming from The Martian Independent Republic, having won a domestic title with Combination Milankovic. A former engineer, the Loyons will be hoping that he can engineer a miracle out of a squad with very little advantages. Sato Sikini sits at 6'5 (197cm), and will need every bit of height to help defend the net. Watch Padras Topea and Feliks Asimov for crucial transition passes from the defense to the middle of the field.

Their chemistry is exceptionally valuable for a technically weaker squad. Jean De Manslois is a box-to-box presence that showed hints of promise in Loyo's ARC outing just a year ago. Bashar Glevestian is the closest thing to a captain in the midfield, offering solid touch and an ability to control the tempo when the team is in possession. If the team is to have any success, Ludwig Gros will have to play physical football, pressing without being penalized.

Penalties were a problem for the Loyons in their regional competition, so the squad will have to keep their wits about them to maintain composure in the biggest challenge of their careers thus far.

Official Rovenza Squad for World Cup 102 Qualifying

Rovenza have officially entered their first ever world cup qualifying and will compete for a place at World Cup 102. After reaching the quarter-finals of IAC26 as debutants, and despite going home from the BoF without a win, hopes will be high. Can they deliver Rovenza their first ever world cup?

Coaching Staff
Head Coach: David Alfrederick
Assistant Coach: Anthony Charles
Goalkeeping Coach: Miguel Anthegela
Fitness Coach: Pedro Alexeñol
Chief Analyst: George Richwave
Sporting Director: Thomas Larthen

Style of Play
Typical Rovenzan football- and the tactics that the national team uses- involves high pressing but also a very technical game and weakness in the air. Forwards use relentless high pressing to try and regain possession quickly when lost, and all players use intelligent positioning and moving over physicality. Full-backs overlap and join wingers in attack, although wingers also track back to join full-backs. When in possession, Rovenza uses short, quick passing to move the ball around mostly, although long balls into space are not out of the question. As mentioned before, Rovenza’s main weakness is in the air, and they are not very good at set pieces. They prefer open play, with the ball on the ground, and a technical system. The typical formation is 4-3-3.

Typical Starting XI
GK Sebastian Yorkel (age 30)

LB Matthew Langarth (age 24)
CB Edward Igerson (age 18)
CB William Chernell (age 29)
RB Richard Erthwight (age 24)

CM Charles Markon (age 25)
CM Zachary Arnolds (Captain) (age 28)
CM Ivan Torris (age 25)

LW Finn Grotheros (age 26)
ST Alexander Soțh (age 29)
RW Carlos Quinya (age 26)

Typical Substitutes First XI
GK James Davidson (age 20)

LB Adolf Pharel (age 23)
CB Austin Kansa (age 30)
CB Victor Athe (age 33)
RB Harold Trethcall (age 20)

CM Dorian Amia (age 31)
CDM Edward Leth (age 20)
CM Tom White (age 21)

LW Patryk Pezza (age 23)
ST Zayne Ugetha (age 17)
RW Alex Wilan (age 19)

Other Players in the Squad
CB Xander Lo (age 27)
CM/CDM/CAM James Karn (age 22)
LW/ST/RW Yoshua Hedben (age 20)

The Youngsters Who Could Be Crucial
Zayne Ugetha. Edward Igerson. Alex Wilan. Ages 17, 18 and 19. And yet already all cemented into this Rovenza squad, whether in the first eleven or to bring some energy off the bench. Others may read the roster and think that they will let the team down. No. The team lets them down.

Zayne Ugetha is the youngest in this Rovenzan delegation, and yet he is already Rovenza’s third all-time top scorer, with 9 goals, three behind 29-years-old Soțh and six behind 28-years-old Arnolds. Sometimes Ugetha even takes Soțh’s starting spot, he’s that good. Don’t put it past him to score on multiple occasions in this world cup qualifying, but even if he doesn’t, his overall performances will likely be extraordinary, especially for his age.

Edward Igerson. Eighteen years of age. And yet already in the starting eleven, alongside Chernell. Beating thirty-year-old Kansa, thirty-three-year-old Athe and twenty-seven-year-old Lo. And not just that- he already has three goals to his name in a Rovenza shirt. And he’s a centre-back. His performances during the IAC were incredible, he was good despite the team in the BoF, and contributed to Rovenza’s Althin Friendly Cup success. To have done this at just eighteen is incredible. What’s next for Igerson?

Alex Wilan. Nineteen years of age. Not even twenty yet. His pace is blistering, and his assists stats already is incredible. He can play left-wing, but also can drift into the centre if necessary and track back if needed. He’s an all-round player, and the future looks bright for him. He lead his club to Rovenzan Cup success despite the dominance of Verdevale City.

Conclusion
Rovenza may have never qualified for the world cup before, but they enter this cycle with renewed hope of the success of the IAC and Althin Friendly Cup, although the disastrous BoF performance may be a dark omen of what’s to come. Don’t underestimate Rovenza- they might not be favourites to qualify, but they have the talent, hunger and mindset needed to make it.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes (but be realistic)
Godmod scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes (but not too serious)
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes (but don’t spam them, and not to Zachary Arnolds)
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes (as long as two of your players gets booked and a limit of one red card for my team)
Godmod other events: No
