I watched PMMM Walpurgisnacht Rising yesterday after reading the manga a few days ago. It was a bizarre movie and reminds me of the experimental animations made by some Japanese college students which are shown on Youtube channels.

So here is the spoiler for PMMM Walpurgisnacht Rising.

One of the main antagonists is none other than the personification of Walpurgisnacht. Like a certain magical girl introduced in the present gacha game, she technically has more than one moms as Walpurgisnacht is a conglomeration of many souls. The crappy witch system which featured soul gems is a result of this woman's nature as a magical girl who replaced the core system in which magical girls turn into 'demons' (witches with no grief seed drop) and she is the second female Christian saint to receive a character arc in the Puella Magi franchise.

From Up on Poppy Hill - Not a fan. Especially with that midpoint twist.

Eternity - Great movie. 100% recommend.

ParaNorman - Surprisingly funny. Very solid, though not at same level as say Coraline.

I watched many movies recently. De Gaulle is a great movie, The Sting is good too.
I am getting way more tired recently so I will be taking more breaks from NationStates and I probably will not continue fleshing out my non-existent lore.
I will sometimes be present on F7 though.

No, Experina, I will still make sure I will not CTE.

The Social Reckoning, Sorkin at his most up his own ass. Characters correcting each other on mythology and movie musicals, monologues as far as the eye can see, repetition of things tossed back and forth between characters. Without Fincher's direction the raw 'this is pretty much a play, right?' feeling is inescapable. I don't think he actually understands the mechanism used to feed extremism so it's never really well explained in the movie. I almost laughed out loud at one character's impromptu wildly articulate spontaneous monologue.

Thing is if it was a play it might not have felt so silly and out of place. But it's not. He did do a better job of getting closer to his Colonel Jessup level of 'a reason to feel right and justified' to the antagonist by walking up to the 'free speech absolutist' argument being that it's unethical for them to become arbiters of what is and isn't 'true' but instead leaned on their argument being that it's 'hard' to support the movies definite stance that it should do that (I'm not on Facebook's side on this, but if I'm watching a narrative I want the conflict to be presented not for me to agree but to engage...not really explaining that well.)

Anyway, obviously still a strong writer but with every new project the pageantry of his writing gets more and more pretentious and self satisfied.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Good Cinematography and VFX but the worst pacing and obvious plot armour I've seen.

Rewatched the original Exorcist 1973 with a friend who had never seen it before. I'm glad this movie can still shock people even today

Excellent film

Escape From East Berlin. A reasonably well-made anti-communist propaganda film, but entertaining.

Hanuman ansh, it was a good movie, with some parts being really good, but I'm not much of a fan of any religious shi-, which coupled with its cinematography, and graphics lets me give a rating of 5.5/10

Forgotten Island, it was actually pretty good, and as a Filipina-Australian I'd say it depicted Filipino culture pretty well. 9/10.

I got to see two movies in the theaters over the long weekend here with my fiancé, enjoyed both quite a bit!

The first movie we saw was a reshowing of Gone With the Wind, neither of us had seen it prior. There truly is nothing like Technicolor; every shot is like a liquid painting poured out upon the screen. Colours pop, shadows are bold, and everything is a veritable feast for the eyes. It was a fascinating glimpse into a an America long gone - and I don't mean the time period depicted. That there was once an America where the Confederacy was viewed in such a romanticist lens, a film where a character states that he treated his slaves well - uncontested - could even exist, let alone sweep the Oscars as it did is a fascinating window into an ever-receding past.

The second film we saw was Primetime - genuinely hilarious movie. The sudden pop of off-screen tasers when the cane-bound predator departs; when the police chief's greatest disgust at finding out a DA he's been working alongside for years is a predator is reserved for the fact that the DA is a Democrat; just genuinely hilarious delivery in those moments (and many others!). I loved the way the firm was shot, the hazy, dream-like quality of every scene makes the whole film feel like a waking nightmare as the characters spiral ever deeper into obsession. There's obviously a heavy layer of metacommentary on the exploitive nature of network television, how the demand for ever-increasing attention and ever-more eyeballs on the screen drives the higher ups into desperate madness & chews through their underlings. Great movie, loads of fun.
