United Earth : Political Simulator

IC

2105 : 105 years have passed since the birth of United Earth, heir of the United Nations and the all-globe encompassing government that rules all of humanity, and today another historic date is marked : Musa Al-Sharakh, 4th secretary general of United Earth, has announced his step down and the end of "The Global Emergency", or the period of low-intensity war, terrorism and instability that saw United Earth and a large number of terrorist and rebel movements opposed to the idea of a United World Government that has been going on since 2016, when un-idenitified terrorists assasinated United Earth's 1st general secretary Kofi Annan in an effort to overthrow the United Earth's government and destroy it.

It is now time for free elections, as thousands of citizens band together to create political parties and run for office or simply have their ideas and needs represented in the Global Assembly, as United Earth and Humanity enters a new period of their existance.

OOC and INFOS

Welcome to this my new Polsim project, set in an alternate future where humanity was unified under a global government in 2000 and now faces its first free elections, with you being one of the candidates and the parties involved in the first free election ever.

United Earth is the Supranational Government that has been around since 2000, heir of the UN, who, in this timeline, have managed to be more proactive at maintaining the world peace and, through the fictional " New World Doctrine " managed to unify humanity in a single state by the year 2000, managing the earlier happening decolonization of Africa and Asia after the WW2 in a much more competent way, avoiding major conflicts and managing to make the US and the USSR sign a friendship treaty in 1981, and finally, after a UN voting session in 1999, which passed the resolution to unify all world governments and create United Earth, making it effective in 2000.

While many applauded the decision, many more didn't, which prompted resistance and insurrection against United Earth, culminating in the 2016 assassination of Kofi Annan, United Earth's 1st general secretary, prompting United Earth to declare the Global Emergency, which lasted 89 years, during which security forces and terrorist/rebel cells battled against eachother, causing billions of dollars of collateral damage and thousands of casualties among the civilian population.

United Earth is a federal republic under a directorial system, the last one recently implemented by secretary general Al-Sharakh to ensure no other general secretary will rule alone and act like a dictator.

the branches of United Earth's government are the Global Assembly (legislative), divided in Upper Chamber and Lower Chamber, counting 1200 assemblymen between both, the Executive Commission and the General Secretary ( executive ), and finally the People's Justice Commission ( judiciary ).

United Earth is divided in 19 districts ( North America, Caribbeans, Central America, South America, British Isles, Western Europe, Northern Europe, Southern Europe and Balkans, Eastern Europe, North Africa and Middle East, Western Africa, Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, Central Asia and Siberia, East Asia, South-East Asia, Indian Subcontinent, Oceania ), each governed by a Governor. Each district has its autonomy and parliament, although in the past the governors were nothing more but pawns or lieutenants of the General Secretary.

Character Name: Raymond Wallace
District of Residence British Isles
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 42
Character Job and Position: Socialite, Landowner and Patriarch of Wallace Family
Appearance: https://imgur.com/ogVKRjW

Political Affiliation: The Liberal Bloc
Main Strengths:

- Powerful Connections: Raymond has powerful connections all across the globe, and can definitely call a few favors for him if needed.

- Personal Wealth: Due to his personal richness and assets, Raymond he has a monetary advantage for his party's election campaign.

- Popular Figure: In Scotland, and in general the district as a whole, he's quite popular and known, making this land a fertile place to start his campaign.

Main Weaknesses:

-Profiteer: Recent political developments have led Raymond to try his hand at politics and expand, leading many to wonder whether there is actually spontaneity or just careerism in his recent choices.

-Shadows of the Past: His past is not that pristine, and many of its shadows are now coming right back to him to haunt him.

-Privileged: Raymond is part of the privileged class : his words may get the better of his peers, but fall completely flat when he talks to middle or lower class audiences.

Biography: Born in 2063 in the Scottish countryside, Raymond Wallance's parents were Kenneth Wallace, the previous Patriarch of the Wallace family, one of the Scottish families vying for control and power over Scotland and the British Isles district; and Matilda Wells, a wealthy socialite coming from a privileged family. Raymond was groomed to rule by Kenneth, as he was the heir of the Wallace family and destined to take over the family once Kenneth would die, and he was educated in all the subjects a patriarch should have.

At the age of 10 he was sent to study at a private college, where he began to interact with other young members of the elite, in addition to studying subjects such as law and economics, philosophy, and literature, remaining to study there until the age of 18, when he would graduate and managed to secure a scholarship to the University of Edinburgh, where he would study Law and, after graduating, he began practicing law, and began to interface with the feud between the various clans of Scotland, which were intertwined with the fight of the Earth government against subversive cells during the Global Emergency.

In the meanwhile his father Kenneth had managed to become Mayor of Edinburgh, and used his position to expand the Wallace influence throughout Scotland, much to the chagrin of the other clans, who began waging a clandestine war against him; Raymond himself almost got killed by a random shooter, probably sent by a rival Clan, but was only injured.

This inspired Raymond to support his Family in this feud, and he became the family lawyer, often attending their trials and preparing to assume leadership of the family. Raymond also exploited his connections in the world of socialites, seeking to rally support for himself, and when his father died, he ran for mayor of Edinburgh.

Raymond won the race by leveraging his connections and continued his father's war against the rival clans, using the cause of the Earth government to suppress the Clans and terrorist dissent, and launching a campaign against the crime and instability plaguing Scotland. His tenure as Mayor of Edinburgh made him quite popular in Scotland and the rest of the district, and, with the global emergency now over, he decided to capitalise on the moment and create the Liberal Bloc political party, preparing to expand his influence once he had secured his dominance over the rest of Scotland.

-Highly educated and intellectually formidable
-Experienced military commander and strategist
-Deeply devoted Christian
-Charismatic and authoritative public speaker
-Strong administrator and organizer
-Passionate advocate for education and the preservation of Western European culture
-Fluent in several European languages, proficient in Latin

Biography: Karolus Karolingius was born Karl Karoling in Aachen in 2052. Fascinated from childhood by the history of Europe, he developed a strong belief in the importance of Christianity, education, cultural unity, and military strength. He joined the Western European Army in 2070 and served for thirty years, eventually becoming a general during the final decades of the Global Emergency. His military experience convinced him that lasting peace required more than military power: a civilization also needed strong institutions, education, faith, and a shared cultural identity. In 2090, he deliberately Latinized his name to Karolus Karolingius as a symbol of his commitment to Western Europe's common Latin heritage. After retiring from the army in 2100, he became Rector of the University of Geneva, where he promoted classical education, Latin, European history, theology, and the preservation of Western European culture. Following the end of the Global Emergency, he became active in the Fides et Justitia Party, seeking to strengthen Western Europe's cultural identity while maintaining its place within a united Earth.
Political Ideology: Karolus supports United Earth and believes humanity's political unity should be preserved, but argues that unity should not require cultural uniformity. He advocates strong Western European autonomy, the preservation of European traditions, Christian influence in public life, classical education, and Latin as a shared cultural and scholarly language. He supports a strong and professional military while insisting that it remain subordinate to civilian government. His central belief is that Western Europe should remain a distinct and confident civilization- Christian, educated, culturally diverse, and militarily capable -while contributing to the prosperity and stability of a united humanity.

Party Information Sheet
Party Name: Fides et Justitia
Ideology Summary: Christian Conservatism, Classical Republicanism, Cultural Traditionalism, Classical Education, Strong Militarism
Leader(s): Karolus Karolingius
Abbreviation/Nickname : FeJ, "Faith and Justice," and by detractors, "The Neo-Carolingians," though this is coming to be accepted by some members of the party.

Colors and Symbols: Blue and Gold are the party colors. Its symbol is a red cross upon a gold circle, inspired by the symbol of the Paneuropean Union. The cross represents Christianity and the moral foundations of European civilization, while the gold circle represents unity and the common destiny of the peoples of Western Europe.
Main Demographic: Christian conservatives, traditionalists, military veterans, academics and university students, classical-education advocates, European federalists, and culturally conservative members of Western Europe's middle and upper classes. The party also attracts younger Europeans interested in preserving European history and identity within the increasingly globalized society of United Earth.
Reputation and Influence: An ever-growing but controversial conservative movement in Western Europe. FeJ is respected for its emphasis on education, public service, military preparedness, and cultural preservation, particularly among Christians, academics, and veterans. Critics accuse the party of romanticizing Europe's past and promoting an overly Christian or Eurocentric conception of civilization. Under Karolus Karolingius, however, the party has emphasized that it supports United Earth's existence and rejects the restoration of the old European nation-states, instead advocating a strong and culturally confident Western Europe within a united humanity.

We're currently running to receive the majority of votes in the Assembly and, once counted all votes, the party with the most votes ( or the Coalition with the most votes) will occupy the proportional seats in the Assembly, Executive Commission and its party leader will be elected Secretary General

Also, all of the 19 districts are having their elections to elect their governor and district assembly

Character Name: Phillip H. Maltrom
District of Residence: North American, in the region formerly known as Michigan of the United States.
Character Gender: Male.
Character Age: 68.
Character Job and Position: Former Actor and talkshow host.
Theme Song: Bully - Kanye West.
Appearance: Joel Silver.
Political Affiliation: Sovereignty Now! (SN)
Main Strengths: Once a world-famous, cast-topping actor, Maltrom’s political identity revolves around one, simple fact… he is completely and utterly insane. His eyes constantly bloodshot and his mouth constantly frothing, Maltrom is regarded as a bit of a “lolcow” online, his screeching voice a well-known sight across the forums of the web. Phillip’s swing constituents will likely be the irony voter, that young, disillusioned independent who simply wants someone to laugh at. However, this doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be taken seriously; his base will follow him off a cliff, and he knows how to whip up a crowd. Befitting his theatrical reputation, he is both a master attack dog and retail politician, and his firebrand speeches are a common clip… even if they are prone to dissolving into furious, downright nonsensical rambling.
Main Weaknesses: However, his greatest strengths are also his greatest weaknesses. Suiting his uncompromising politics and bombastic brand, Maltrom is a man who is very, very easy to rile up. A staunch contrarian, he cannot stand being left out of the conversation, and will always intrinsically desire to be the centre of affairs. To say he's a loose cannon would be the understatement; he's been disgraced by the mainstream for a reason, and his presence is terrifying to moderates. That's not even to mention that this election is his first foray into politics! To everyone who isn't his diehard supporters, he is a man who seems entirely driven by personal grievance, the champion of a people who don't deserve to be heard. Surely, nobody with this many weaknesses and with this many enemies could ever gain power. Surely.
Biography: Phillip is a man who has only recently been turned away from every dream he has ever had. Born on April 17th, 2037 in Lansing to a middle of the middle class family, Phillip came into the world at a strange time; the relative adolescence of the United Earth, when the world was settling into being part of one government without getting complacent. Bored with the direction of his family and wanting to escape his small town, Maltrom would reject the sterility of the office, coming to desire the thrill of the theatre. Throughout his young adult life, he would rise the ranks of the area's community drama groups until the age of 26, when he would be drafted as the main character of a small production by the name of Uptown Girl (2064). Turns out, the film would be a surprise smash at the box office, pole vaulting Phillip to stardom. For the next few decades, Maltrom would enjoy a prosperous career, starring in such bestsellers as his tenure on Saturday Night Live (1975-2078), Undertale (2068) and Deltarune (2070), Sorry!: The Movie (2072), McBain (2075), and even the live action adaptation of Shark Tale (2076). He was a jack of all trades, a man who could play any role you asked of him and do it really, really well. The crown jewel of his success would come with his internationally-syndicated, decades-long late-night talk show, What's On With Phillip Maltrom (2080-2103). He was a titan of pop culture, bristling at the lips of any critic and causing any director to salivate.

But then... then came 2102. Phillip seemed untouchable, but his eyes couldn't help but wander to what he wasn't the smartest in. Maltrom, the heart of a Midwesterner still beating within him, was always a bit sceptical of the project of internationalism. Thus, dropping his long-curated mask of apoliticism, he would post at least a few dozen tweets upon his thoughts on the whole United Earth affair. And just like that, he was blacklisted. Brands dropped him without a thought, his co-stars apologised for even starring in the same films as him, and his supermodel wife left, taking the kids. Now, his life in tatters and with nothing left to lose, Phillip migrated to the area for any washed-up, haggard celebrity; politics. By that point, Sovereignty Now! - once the primary voice of opposition was a group in a spiral, caught in factional struggle between it's left and right. But Maltrom, with his swaggering stride and strange charisma, unified the party behind his presence, coming to be known as his leader. Now, with a base that will do anything for him, Maltrom seeks the position of General Secretary; and soon, revenge against all who wronged him.
Political Ideology: Hard-right nationalist. Hates with a passion the globalists, the bureaucrats, the oligarchs, the mainstream media, and pretty much any group that comes to his head. Believes all of them tie into some ancient Freemason plot, so they and all of their instruments must be eliminated without compromise. Of course, the United Earth is the greatest of said instruments, and must be abolished posthaste. Beyond that, his politics dissolve into a spread of more recent, fantastical flights of fancy, including aliens, lost continents, and alternative medicines. Of course, someone with such insane beliefs couldn't possibly receive any votes... right?

Party Information Sheet
Party Name: Sovereignty Now!
Ideology Summary: Anyone and everyone who believes in the dissolution of the United Earth as it stands. Communist revolutionaries, radical nationalists, conspiracy theorists, and anyone who doesn’t have a very positive relationship with their parents.
Leader(s): Philip H. Maltrom.
Abbreviation/Nickname : SN, alternatively stylised as SN!. Supporters like to call themselves "Sovereigns."
Colors and Symbols: The clenched fist, representing solidarity of the nations of the earth in their desire for independence. This shade of green is their primary colour, representing their naturalness in contrast to the United Earth's artificiality.
Main Demographic: To themselves, the silent majority, the brave resistance fighting the evil empire. To everyone else, terminally online chuds who have never thought about policy nor can buy alcohol.
Reputation and Influence: The party of creeps, weirdos, and losers. Active for decades, it has constantly been regarded as the eternal opposition. Of course, since before it’s formation, criticisms of a one world government have existed, but the political mainstream have successfully branded them as wanting a childish return to tribalism. Reputation has only declined further with the waves of violence, with some arguing the party should be outright banned from politics.

Character Name: He Jun
District of Residence East Asia
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 62
Character Job and Position: Governor of East Asia
Appearance: https://imgur.com/zjcNnz9

Political Affiliation: Change and Revival League

Main Strengths: Governor He's main strengths could be reassumed in three words :Persistence, Resilience, and Idealism: He Jun has been always hell-bent in fighting for the causes he truly believed and his ability of always coming back up after some hiccup or problem, never giving up his ideas and visions, made him stand out.

Main Weaknesses: He Jun is an old man, and as he grows older he grows more tired of the political machinations, moreover, his past as Governor has attracted the attacks of detractors, calling him a collaborator of the regime and profiteer

Biography: Born in the bustling and chaotic metropolis of Shenzen in 2043 from two corporate workers, He Jun seemed to be destined to a totally diferent life : Since he was a child he had shown to be very good in STEM subjects, and showed great skill in mathematics, and his parents were sure he was destined to something great, but the context in which Jun lived changed his lifepath :

After passing the KSAEE ( Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Evaluatory Exam ), the standardized Exam that every senior student in high school had to partake in to conclude his high school journey and starting a college career, with the highest grades possible, He Jun was offered a scholarship to Bejing University, which he accepted right away to go study Mechanical Engineering. During his stay in Bejing he also began volunteering in an association to help those in need, along with becoming more interested in politics, as he joined a Student's Union

What changed his life path was the dreaded events of the 14th March of 2061 : A terrorist attack on Bejing organized by a Anti-United Earth group and the subsequent sweep operations organized by local and federal law enforcement transformed Bejing in a warzone, and the subsequent protests of the students and activists against the militarization were met with suppression and arrests : even He Jun himself was caught and spent 3 months in prison, where he was brutalized by fellow inmates and penitentiary officers alike : In those 3 months he reached a conclusion : if in the fight against terrorism the government had to resort to these draconian methods, not only not caring about the suffering of the common man and its problems, but crushing with violence the protests of those who care, then it was no better than the terrorists. In those three months he also approached socialist thought, which he took with him and decided to modify with his personal ideas and, once out of prison, he decided to dedicate himself to politics.

He became an Activist, protesting the draconian actions of the United Earth government and advocating for the solution of the problems of the lower class, which made him a beacon of hope among the people, and a problem to the government : But he didn't give up.

At 35 years old, in 2078, he ran as an indipendent for the District's assembly elections, and he managed to be elected, and he would spend the rest of his mandate fighting for the lower classes of East Asia, managing to push a bill for affordable housing in the East Asian Assembly that would become law in 2080, while also pushing for more pro-worker and anti-extreme capitalism policies.

After serving three mandates in the District Assembly he decided to ran for Governor in 2093, and, while the task proved to be difficult, he wanted to demonstrate and show that a common man against the establishment like him could win, and he did so : He won and became Governor of East Asia and spent his term implementing policies that would benefit the lower class, and he succeded : by 2103, East Asia was one of the Districts with the most public housing apartments, the one with the most strict worker-protection laws and the only district who planned its economy.

He Jun then proceeded to found his own political party in 2104, ready to expand his policies in the rest of the world, and now, in 2105, he's ready to run his campaign to win the most votes in the Global Assembly and get his position in the General Secretary

Political Ideology: He Jun believes in the Socialist tought and also believes that United Earth needs to go under some radical changes to finally and definitely exit from the dark times of the Global Emergency before undergoing a Revival that will bring Mankind to its highest peaks

Party Information Sheet
Party Name: Change and Revival League ( CRL )
Ideology Summary: Socialism, Riformist Socialism, Planned Industry, Pro-Workers, Pro Minimum wage, Pro Affordable Housing, Pro-Direct Democracy, Anti-Capitalism, Anti-Extremism
Leader(s): He Jun
Abbreviation/Nickname : The Green-and-Orange League

Colors and Symbols: Green and Orange
Main Demographic: Lower Class, Workers, East Asians, Southwest Asians, Socialists
Reputation and Influence: The League has been branded by many political commentators as a Wave that could sweep in and establish a majority in the Global Assembly, although it isn't sure how well the League is going to fare when He Jun dies, as the League has been revolving much of its consensus and popularity on the East Asian governor's figure.

The Planetarian Confederation

A Global Government that spans the entire Planet, divided between the constant fight between Autonomism and Centralism

Immagine if Switzerland and Early USA had a son, and It ruled a Planet

Despite the name the Confederation is a MT/early PMT Nation

I am definitely interested in this RP, and I’ll try to come up with a good character idea.

Kasdados wrote:Character Name: Phillip H.
Throughout his young adult life, he would rise the ranks of the area's community drama groups until the age of 26, when he would be drafted as the main character of a small production by the name of Jesse's Girl (2064).

Political Ideology: Hard-right nationalist and right-populist.

Finished!

Now, onto the questioning:

“Good afternoon, Mr. Wallace. Charles Bawley of Britannia News Corporation. As you may know, former actor Phillip H. Maltrom of the North American District is rising steadily in the polls of the upcoming elections. Best known as Billy in 2064’s Uptown Girl, Asgore in 2068’s Undertale, and Mendoza in 2075’s McBain, since his controversies in 2102, he has found new life in the Sovereignty Now! party. In campaigning, he has called you, and I quote directly, an ‘agent of the Antichrist’, a ‘puppet of the banking cartel’, and a ‘100% lizard person’. He has accused you of conducting Satanic rituals at your estate, and your family of funding the terrorist organisations involved in The Global Emergency. Do you have any response to his comments?
