Completed Zero Company. Very good game, enjoyed it quite a lot. I dont think its as good or as replayable as XCOM2 is but its a solid game, i had a lot of fun with this one. Highly recommend it to anyone who is into star wars or strategy games.

Yeah, felt like a good length to play the game, didnt feel like it was overstaying its welcome or anything.

Just casually saw a ZCOM ad out in the wild and I properly noticed that the Umbaran squadmate has a sniper rifle. Yeah, buddy, I don't think you'll be joining us in the field. There's only one sniper in this house and that's me.

My squad has largely revolved around Trick, who's been respecced to be a Heavy, and Jae the Executioner. Fourth is a wildcard, but I've been enjoying Tal-Rea more than most, her auto-heal perk is nice for a frontliner.

To put some meat on that - We've pretty much known that Star Wars was going to be in the game ever since someone spotted that AT-ST foot in the background of the reveal trailer. It's just what else is in the achievements list I'm trying to avoid.

Well, I guess I have reason to replay the game in the future, the Umbaran left because I didn't have the insane amount of intel his personal shit demanded. Never had an issue with this before, saving stuff for the final turn. But I guess this teaches me to stop overwriting my manual saves each day.

Yes there is a time limit for every mission in the game, you have a set number of turns before they can expire. Luco is a good squadmate, i really enjoyed having him around in my team. I managed to complete all the stories the main cast have in my first run but it can be quite easy to miss out on some of them due to deaths or time expirations.

I feel like this whole situation highlights my biggest criticism* of the game: everything feels so completely inflexible. If you miss a single step, like I feel like I did with this Luco business, you're just fucked. You to intuit exactly when to do these kinds of quest around all of the critical operations, critical missions, crisis operations, crisis missions, and other personal quests going on on any given cycle. The game feels so completely scripted, you gotta do everything at the exact correct times.

*That all being said this game has been amazing so far and any other criticisms I have are miniscule in comparison.

Also, I have no idea how the hell Huskar completed this game in only 26 hours when I just crossed my 30th hour. I don't even think I'm even close to the end of the game.

Really? Thats interesting, i saw a lot of folks online say the game usually takes about 25-30 hours. I just progressed through at a normal speed but maybe i was going faster than i thought lmao

You can probably tell where I'm at. I just effed up Luco's quest, I just completed Tel-Rea's, and I'm going into a huge plot mission. Where am I, percentage-wise?

Id say probably about 80% of the way through? Quite late into it anyway.

!!!!!!??????

HE CAME BACK!? What the fuck!? He actually came back! I thought for sure he was going to be gone forever. I guess I spoke too soon. Good to have you back, Luco. I'll try to do better for you.

Also, that was one HELL of a fight I just went though, it really came down to the wire, everyone but Trick was down to single digits. Respeccing him to be a Heavy was so unbelievably worth it, the ability to Taunt the enemy when I needed them off the rest of the squad truly saved the entire team.

I'm deeply surprised at how downright easy the fight with the Second Sister was. The mission was billed as "extreme", but there were never more than a few troopers on the battlefield at any given time. And the whole "gimmick" of the fight really just seemed to be "don't attack the Inquisitor". At all. For any reason. And sure, Tel-Rea ate some damage, but nothing that a single med-pac couldn't handle. Probably the most disappointing mission in the whole game.

Tel Rea straight up almost died for me in this mission, she got downed twice lmao. Was really really cool to see Second Sister though, i always liked her from Fallen Order

How the hell have our playthroughs been so dramatically different? I've reached 45 hours with no apparent end in sight. Is it a difficulty difference? Did you ever spend time waiting out the timers and building up the base?

And in the case of that specific mission that I just mentioned, I wonder if its an upgrade path diff. I slam the health upgrades every time I see them. This is my first ever proper XCOM experience and I'm daring to play on Hard*, my educated guess was that health was going to be the most valuable resource on the battlefield and I've felt vindicated throughout the whole game.

* I convinced myself that my good experience with Baldur's Gate 3 and my not completely atrocious experience with Into the Breach was close enough to justify getting into ZCOM with no punches pulled.

You should 100% get XCOM2 at some point, its amazing, one of my favourite games of all time.

53.5 hours and it's finally over.

I got my ass BLASTED by Typhon and his gang. I was miserable and thought I was going to be doomed. But then that nightmare ended and I entered the fight versus Fathom herself. And I absolutely DUNKED on her. Just absolutely roasted her over a fire. Spared nothing for anybody else on the field. All forward firepower intensified and concentrated on her alone. She didn't get more than a single turn to act.

I'll have more thoughts to share once I finally rest and take time to consolidate them.
