Looking ahead to other RUCT places, the Fancymen look to be a determined unit wanting to make amends for last season when they missed out on RUCT qualification on account of the Tinkers gaining a spot through victory in the Doogie MacDoogal Distillery Shield. They did however, fail to claim a little revenge against the Tinkers with a performance that starting strong but petered out in week 14. They fell to a 40-24 loss at home; a scoreline that possibly belies how close the majority of this match was. The Pantsdon Redsocks find themselves occupying the fourth spot at the halfway point, and few would've predicted the Pantsdon team to be sitting above the likes of T'auld Hoos, or last season's surprise; the Oeopolis Pinkcaps. Likewise though, few could say this current placing is unjust as the team have been quietly dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's against lower ranking opposition (With the exception of a controversial late loss to KRU Urbsclawydraeksterlutrja in week 8 in which a somewhat harsh decision saw the Urbsclavium team awarded a penalty try as well as the Pantsdon hooker presented a yellow card with under ten minutes to play. With the scores evened, and Pantsdon down a man, momentum did the rest to see the Otters sneak a victory on the cusp of the clock turning red).
Just outside the RUCT places currently sit both Farslum teams, the Pinkcaps, and the Gooston Breuers. With T'auld Hoos driving to finally break into RUCT qualification, the Young Boys hoping to get one over on them by beating them to it, the Pinkcaps hoping to repeat last season's triumphant announcement onto the rugby scene, and Gooston still hot on everyone's heels, it's shaping up for an explosive and highly contested second half of the season.
