Countesia has a large and commercially significant video game industry, supported by the country’s advanced technology sector, high rates of internet access, and strong consumer electronics market. Although the domestic market is heavily influenced by foreign companies such as Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, Countesia has developed a respected game development sector of its own. The industry includes a small number of major AAA studios producing high-budget titles for international release, as well as a much larger network of independent developers concentrated in cities such as Adenau, Urbem, and Valbruch. Countesian indie studios in particular have gained a strong reputation for experimental design, narrative-driven games, strategy titles, and technically polished smaller releases, several of which have achieved international critical acclaim and commercial success. As a result, while Countesia is not considered one of the dominant global centres of gaming hardware or platform ownership, it remains an important contributor to international game development and digital entertainment.
The Federal Republic of Countesia a highly developed, left-leaning democracy characterized by strong protections for individual rights.

The Gaming Industry in Greater Man

Postby Greater Man » Tue May 05, 2026 8:45 am

Greater Man’s gaming industry is sizeable and in line with most other countries of comparable size and development. Most gaming hardware is designed and manufactured abroad, and many of the video games enjoyed by Theden are likewise originally foreign. Increasing global uncertainty has contributed to a growing interest in developing domestic hardware and software products, especially as the Riche’s political system remains under marked criticism from pro-democracy movements and organisations. The need to satisfy the public’s appetite for leisure and entertainment is often considered by the national government in the struggle against excessive political reform.

Gaming hardware in Greater Man is typically console-based, especially home consoles similar to the imported Game Station console popular in the 1990s. Console development abroad has been rapid and has given everyday Theden access to increasingly sophisticated and graphically powerful games, such as the late remake of the 2003 fantasy roleplaying game, Witch’s Bane. Other gaming systems are growing in popularity, especially desktop and laptop gaming, but consoles remain ahead and won’t be truly eclipsed until the beginning of the next decade by current trends. Part of the drive is the rise of VR, which has gained significant momentum as more VR shooters and roleplaying games are released. The mobile scene is still lagging far behind and is currently restricted to foreign mobile games, as the only domestic ones are simple puzzle games or mini-simulators meant for workers on break. Criticism from media, social organisations, and statutory authorities on children’s screentime, pay-to-win systems, and loot boxes have discouraged heavy investment into a domestic mobile games industry.

Theden are broadly regarded as favouring a wide variety of gaming genres, with roleplaying games, shooters/hack and slash, and strategy games comprising the top three. Witch’s Bane is held high for its era and Wheelhouse, the successor company to the game’s original creator studio, has ensured the game’s continued popularity with its remake. A spinoff called Knight’s Bane is expected to be released soon to great hype. Competing for this level of popularity is the in-development sequel to Enad ('Wasteland'), a first-person shooter and survival game set in a post-apocalyptic zombie infested city.

Emulation hasn’t been widespread until recently and has coincided with the growth of desk-/laptop gaming. ROM hacking, modding, and indie RPGs made through the popular RPG Maker software are likewise on the rise, especially as more independent developers and startup studies try to break into the domestic games development market. In some earldoms, resident developers have been able to obtain grants to help fund their projects, likely because of internal statutory guidance seeking to grow the Riche’s domestic gaming development sector.

Dravania’s gaming industry is controversial. Due to limits imposed on imported foreign electronics such as phones, PCs, physical games, and consoles, consumers often buy domestically produced equivalents which are essentially unlicensed clones bearing almost comically fake names. For example, the two most popular console brands currently sold in Dravania are the Switchbox 2 and the Play System 5.

Physical games are also expensive, and access to foreign releases is further narrowed by state media controls. Games judged to contain fascist symbolism, monarchist themes, anti-confederal propaganda, foreign military glorification, or other politically incompatible material may be banned outright or denied legal distribution. Since Dravanians also lack access to major online distribution platforms such as Steam and Epic Games, many consumers rely on copied games that have had their copy protection stripped and burned en masse onto cheap CDs, often resulting in buggy or unstable releases. Those who are technically minded may instead jailbreak their consoles and download games onto them directly.

Consoles older than sixth generation are almost non-existent in Dravania. To play retro and old-school games, Dravanians usually rely on emulators.

Foreign companies such as Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have attempted to issue fines and licensing claims against Dravanian firms producing knockoff consoles, but these are routinely ignored. The government generally presents the industry as domestic electronics production and insists that nothing has been manufactured without proper authorization.

A niche, unofficial export market for Dravanian knockoff consoles has also become popular among dedicated video game collectors, largely due to their bizarre branding, unofficial hardware variations, and the strange mix of rugged construction and legally dubious design.

Being a technologically-advanced global juggernaut itself and taking advantage of the nation's absolute dominance over most fields of bleeding-edge critical-technology, such as advanced radiofrequency communications like 5G, 5.5G, and 6G, as well as leveraging the nation's globally-unmatched Internet infrastructure thanks to the absolute ubiquity of fiber-in-the-loop ultra-high-speed fiber-optic communication Internet services and satellite Internet broadband, video games is one of Huaxia's numerous forms of soft power display, along with other mediums such as drama series, films, and novels.

Since Huaxia is literally the successor polity to the People's Republic of China, the nation's gaming industry is the world's largest and most lucrative market, valued at over hundreds of billions of NS$, and serving an audience of more than a billion players. Dominated by mobile gaming and tech giants like Tencent, NetEase, miHoYo, and Kuro Games, and globally-celebrated premium AAA+ and AAAA gaming studios such as Game Science, Everstone Studio, S-Game, HYPERGRPYH, Amazing Seasun Games, and Naked Rain, Huaxia's gaming industry is known for its absolute dominance in mobile and gacha games, as well as its highly-artistic and high-quality AAA+ and AAAA games. Companies like miHoYo (known for making Genshin Impact) and Game Science (known for making Black Myth: Wukong) have reset global expectations, transitioning the country from primarily an outsourcing hub into a premium creator of AAA+ and AAAA, globally-resonant and highly-creative intellectual properties with uniquely-Chinese franchises that provide a non-western, eastern-based cultural flavor with unique stories influenced by Chinese traditions of story-telling.

Because of its absolute market size and production of globally-successful high-quality games, Huaxia has been described as the "Games Industry Capital of the World" and is home to the largest video game companies. Known for its immensely-strong competitiveness and absolute resilience in the global market, Huaxia is renowned for publishing high-quality critically-acclaimed titles such as Genshin Impact, Arknights: Endfield, Naraka: Bladepoint, Phantom Blade Zero, Mecha Break, Where Winds Meet, Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium, and Black Myth: Wukong thanks to technological innovation, creative narrative-driven story-writing from a Huaxian perspective, content creation and global market adaptation, which also reveals the industry's development trends and opportunities in the market environment. The country has also been a major factor in the growth of esports, both in player talent and in revenue, with Huaxia having full dominance over the esports scene. Online gaming in Huaxia represents one of the largest and fastest growing Internet business sectors in the world, with the country being the largest market for online games. Online games in Huaxia fall into two primary categories: MMORPGs and MOCGs. The former have a predilection for persistent online worlds where hundreds to thousands of game players can interact simultaneously; the latter is a generic term for games played competitively online without the existence of a persistent online realm.

Huaxia's gaming giants such as Tencent, NetEase, Perfect World, and Shanda are noted for their heavy investments in foreign video game developers and for making strategic agreements with other entities to serve as the Huaxia-based operating arm for foreign interests to meet Huaxian government media regulations. Notably, Tencent's acquisitions have included: US$400 million to acquire Riot Games in 2011 to gain right to the online game League of Legends and US$8.6 billion for Supercell in 2016 for its mobile game Clash of Clans. Among major investments include approximately 5% of Activision in 2013, a 40% interest in Epic Games in 2013, and a 5% interest in Ubisoft in 2018.

In esports, Huaxia is globally-renowned for being the world leader in terms of tournament winnings, possessing some of the best talents in the world across multiple video games, as well as the largest pool of video gamers. The overall majority of the top 20 highest earning esports players in the world are Huaxian while the entirety of the top 10 most successful esports teams are all from Huaxia. Hosting numerous domestic and international esports tournemants, Huaxia has the largest esports scene on Earth, which is further reinforced by actual backing from the state. Due to both government encouragement and industry investment, the number of professional esports players in Huaxia numbers at the hundreds of thousands. Huaxia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security includes both "professional gamer" and "professional gaming operator" as an officially recognized job on its Occupation Skill Testing Authority list, with around hundreds of thousands of people registering themselves as "professional gamers" under this, and are making an average of three times the average salary in Huaxia. The Ministry states that they believe the professional esports sector in Huaxia provides tens of millions of jobs. This expansive growth has led several local governments to offer incentives for bringing esports to their cities. For example, the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government is making strong efforts to make the cities of Hangzhou and Ningbo into the global esports centers in Huaxia, which has resulted in other provinces such as Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hunan, and Sichuan investing in similar efforts. In addition to talent and hosting tournaments, Huaxia is also the largest consumer of esports. The 2036 Naraka: Bladepoint Championship, held in Changsha, drew an estimated 937.2 million viewers from online streaming services with 83% of them from Huaxia.

Huaxian gaming companies have emerged as globally-dominant players in the international gaming industry, driven largely by their strategic focus on both mobile gaming and producing premium AAA+ and AAAA titles. This approach has enabled them to establish and maintain an absolute grasp on the international market. Among these companies, Tencent and NetEase have led the charge by prioritizing mobile-first game development, utilizing technological innovation, and tailoring content to local markets. Their global success is a direct result of adaptive strategies that have allowed them to capture significant market share across continents. Mobile gaming is the largest segment of the global video game industry, with Huaxia playing a pivotal role in shaping its evolution. In 2036 alone, Huaxia accounted for more than 91% of global mobile gaming revenue.

Technological innovation has been a cornerstone of Huaxia's gaming industry, with Tencent and NetEase leading the charge through advanced cloud gaming platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) integration. Tencent's cloud gaming service, START, enables users to stream AAA+ and AAAA games such as Where Winds Meet or Phantom Blade Zero on underpowered devices, thereby eliminating the need for expensive hardware and expanding access to high-quality gaming experiences. This partnership leverages microchip technology to deliver a seamless gaming experience comparable to playing on a local gaming rig. Similarly, NetEase has integrated AI-powered features into its mobile games to enhance player engagement and retention. For instance, in the development of Cygnus Enterprises, NetEase's Team Miaozi utilized AI to create dynamic non-player characters (NPCs) that interact with players in a more lifelike manner, thereby enriching the gaming experience. Furthermore, NetEase has incorporated AI technology into its mobile game Justice Online Mobile, allowing players to engage in complex, AI-generated dialogues with NPCs, which can influence in-game events and character relationships. Everstone Studio also added AI technology to its hit game Where Winds Meet, allowing players to have conversations with NPCs as well as giving NPCs more lifelike behaviour even when not interacting with players. These technological advancements have not only enhanced gameplay in Huaxian video games but also contributes to significant financial growth. By leveraging Huaxia's technological dominance including on cloud gaming and AI technologies, Huaxian gaming companies are able to deliver personalized and immersive experiences that is globally-unmatched, thereby fostering greater player loyalty and further-expanding their global footprint. Cross-platform integration has significantly bolstered the gaming ecosystem cultivated by Huaxian companies, particularly Tencent and NetEase. Tencent's implementation of cross-play functionality allows players to transition seamlessly between mobile, PC, and console platforms, thereby enhancing user retention and expanding the potential player base. This strategy aligns with Tencent's broader objective to create and support more cross-platform, and AAA+ and AAAA games capable of dominating in the high-end market.

Video games have evolved from simple entertainment to significant cultural and diplomatic tools, embodying the concept of soft power. Video games, as a widely consumed form of storytelling and cultural representation, have become an effective medium for soft power, allowing Huaxia to share its cultural identity and traditional storytelling on both national and global scales. Recognizing their economic and cultural significance, the Huaxian government strongly-supports video game development as tools for public diplomacy for communicating "Huaxian stories through various media, including video games, and fostering national pride". This strategy enables Huaxia to present its traditional values, narratives, and cultural landmarks globally, as well as introducing global audiences to traditional Chinese culture and history. The impact of Huaxian cultural elements on player loyalty in video games helps further increase popularity of Huaxian soft power abroad.

Fun Fact: Due to the ubiquity of video games in Huaxian society as well as nerd culture being normalized, there are various Huaxian drama series out there that are centered around gaming. For example, there's the 2024 drama series Everyone Loves Me that involves the main characters working at a game studio developing a AAA+ video game, or the 2019 drama series The King's Avatar which centers around the fall and rise of a top-tier MMORPG player and esports team captain. Characters who are gamers and video game developers in these drama series are known for being portrayed by attractive actors and actresses.

Our gamin' market is export based. Japan is the primary provider. Nintendo was the dominant market circa 1990s - 2010s. Emulators came to be circa early 2010s along with Play Station systems. PC & Mobile titles were dominant for a time as well. (Particularly Star Wars titles & GTA:Chinatown Wars). Xbox gained rise from the mid 2010s into the 2020s. A nascent KN gaming project was in development at some point in the past.

In PC and mobile, piracy is rampant - you have pirated EXEs and APKs being redistributed in Sectiyera like apeshit. Gamers tend to reuse old server PCs and just put more RAM and better graphics in them. Due to Android lording over Sectiyera by a 90% market share, Android versions of mobile games get way, WAY, WAY more Sectiyeran revenue than their iOS equivalents.

In the console space, Xbox controls a huge amount of the market share - PlayStation is a distant second, and Nintendo barely croaks at all in Sectiyera.

Sectiyera isn't known for any AAA games at all, most games out of Sectiyera are niche indie games.

Electronic gaming was unheard of until the 1960s, when the computers arrived in Naui Tu. That way, when computer science was teached in Naui Tu, many programmers began to code games in early computing and formed one of the first teams in Nauitese gaming, Gata Computing (literally meaning Free Computing, free means "gata" in Tuunitas language). It was renamed to GataData Computing in 1972, and GatadaGame in 1989. and began creating hit games in Naui Tu for the PC such as F-15 Fighter (today the Armyfighters franchise, a competitor of War Thunder), GatadaGame's catalog of games (GatadaFun) for the NES and Game Boy, and Gatada Battlegrounds. Today, it is known as GG Games after being renamed in 2004 (both because of the rise of the term "GG" and they wanted a memorable name while keeping the GatadaGame legacy).

The rise of PC gaming in the 2000s and early 2010s contributed to AAA game studios such as EA with "The Sims" and "SimCity" franchises, VALVe with the "Half-Life", "Counter-Strike" franchises, and "Team Fortress 2", and Rockstar Games with the "Grand Theft Auto" and "Red Dead" franchise. These were the main types of games found in internet cafes, were expensive in physical copies, and were available to download with easy digital download services such as Steam later on. Indie game studios were the mainstream in the late 2010s and 2020s, such as Jack 'N' Jill Studios, originally creating the famous "One-Shot Trickshot" Flash games which involved trying to do hard trickshots, and was even adapted to Steam in 2019 as "The Ultimate One-Shot Trickshot", finally becoming an actual indie game studio.

Console gaming started in the 1980s with the NES. Actually, Naui Tu is one of the first countries to recieve a Japanese Nintendo game/console, and combining Super Mario Bros. with GatadaFun became a trend in the late 80s and early 90s, including the launch of the Game Boy and the GatadaFun games.
