who IS Sporting Malcolm?

Postby Drawkland » Sun Nov 30, 2025 10:19 pm

The call for more teams in The Outbox League was met with trepidation. Outbox Restaurants and the League itself were allegedly making money hand over fist, if you believed the "clearly screenshotted from [spreadsheet software]" tables and graphs the League office interns put in their quarterly recap presentations. In addition to some ... "friction" with IFCF officials, TOL was incentivized to add more teams to the league, as well as adjust the schedule to be a little more travel-friendly by playing more head-to-head games between in-nation teams and reducing international travel.

The problem? TOL charged the Drawkian office with bringing two more teams to the Outbox cause, for a total of six entries from Sonnel. That proved to be a bigger challenge than previously thought: only one DLK team was willing to cross the aisle to TOL, that being the Hessport Pioneers. Like the Sadeg Strikers, the Pioneers were one of the more recent expansion additions to DLK, so moving to TOL wasn't uprooting a long-lived domestic legacy. No other team wanted to play Outbox ball, however.

TOL's Drawkian office was in panic mode. Without a sixth Drawkian team, their holiday bonuses were in jeopardy. This could not come to pass. So, with the deadline looming and options dwindling, they opted for the insane route. They had to sign a sixth soccer team to the league? Fine. There will be a group of professional players (because they're technically paid a wage) comprising a soccer team. The catch: they're all bargain bin free agent castoffs from DLK. Uncs past their prime. Noobs who never got drafted out of college. People with literally nothing better to do, who would rather play for league minimum than finding real jobs and actually contributing to society.

It was malcompliance at its finest. Appropriately, the guy with the idea/team owner/team manager was Vincent Malcolm, the middle-aged Social Media Manager in TOL's Drawkland office. He named the team after himself, Sporting Malcolm, and found a suitable home ground at Pliance Field (the venue owned and used by the high school Malcolm's children attend) in Drawk City. Malcolm kicked back and prepared to pull in the minimal TOL revenue sharing package and pay his ringers the bare minimum. Malcolm got money. The players got money. The league got money. Everybody wins!

Sporting Malcolm went without a logo in their debut season. Vincent Malcolm refused to pay for a real graphic designer, and the intern he tried to coerce into slapping one together said there was some issue with online image sharing software that made distributing the logo simply impossible. Sporting Malcolm plays in bright orange and cyan, because those were the only colors with a full team's worth of jerseys still available at the sporting goods store closest to TOL's Drawkian office. It's appropriate considering watching these has-beens and never-weres play in a 10 formation (or 0-10-0 if you're picky) is the sporting equivalent of drinking orange juice right after brushing your teeth.

Earning 30 points in their debut season wasn't part of the plan, but that's what happens when you trust your league management to some bawdy trollop named Lisa. Typical TOL antics! Whether Sporting Malcolm returns for TOL Season Five (and if TOL returns for TOL Season Five at all) is mostly contingent on whether those pesky Conflict of Interest lawsuits go anywhere during the offseason. Come Get What You Crave, assuming you crave nothing but chaos!

tol 5 drawkians

Postby Drawkland » Sun Mar 08, 2026 2:14 pm

THE OUTBOX LEAGUE - SEASON 5 - DRAWKIAN TEAM PREVIEWS

On rosters, * marks the captain of the squad, ^ marks a player who is immortal.

Some context on Drawkian quirks: Soccer is a female-only sport in Drawkland, making a natural counterpart to gridiron football which is traditionally all-male. A vast majority of soccer players ply their trade at Drawkian universities which offer 5-year degrees. After they graduate, they enter the amateur talent draft where they have a chance to be picked up by a professional squad. Each team in the Drawkian soccer draft is also permitted to select one player straight from high school per year, though some choose not to use this option depending on the available talent pool. This means that a majority of Drawkian pro rookies are 25 years old. Drawkian athletes experience their typical "prime" in the 30-35 age range. Many play through their 40s, though most players will retire before they hit 50 unless they have very great longevity. Drawkians have some interesting physical attributes different from the average human, which you can read about here. There's also some immortal athletes around here, though only one currently resides on one of these four rosters. You can read about that here.

So it turns out "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't work long term. After floating around the top of the league and the top of the Drawkian ranks in The Outbox League, Drawk Corps has fallen off a cliff. The last two seasons have seen the Corps fall to dead last among Drawkian teams and nearly the league itself (ignoring the farce teams like Sporting Malcolm and P&H).

It was time for a management change. Patricia Brady has gotten the hire, and it's not as easy as it seems. Across all major sports in Drawkland, Drawk Corps has been an elite franchise with title expectations year after year. Having great financial and talent resources in play is incredibly helpful as a manager, but it limits your ability to make excuses. When things go bad, you're the first person that the fans point to. Several managers have come into a Corps team and flamed out spectacularly, killing their careers long-term. Others have thrived and turned themselves into hall of fame managers.

Will Patricia Brady pull the Corps back to relevance as they should be? It's hard to see. The roster has seen plenty of shifting in depth signings, including a trade that brought in skilled attacking midfielder Lola Colbert. Whatever the case, Brady's leash will be short.

Through four seasons of Outbox action, the Jaffro Storm have been good but not good enough. Three of the four seasons, Jaffro has been the top Drawkian team in the table. Unfortunately, that's never translated to actually winning any silverware. Two second-place finishes, both tragically close to actually being a title, and just one cup round win in that span has been hard for fans of the Storm.

That being said, at least the Storm always feel like they're one big move away from tipping the scales in their favor and finally breaking through. This time that's manifesting in trading Eliza Chance and a draft pick for Marissa Mason from the Masteser Assassions of DLK. Mason probably won't be the pick to really move the needle, but you never know!

_________ PITTSENNAT REDS
Location: Pittsennat, Drawkland
Stadium: Metal Mills Park (103,350)

What are the Reds actually doing? This isn't meant to be a jab at Pittsennat, we're just genuinely curious. Their first four seasons were essentially the same. Finish midtable, several games out of contending, pretty much at the middle among the Drawkian teams at best. It's not terrible to be mid for a couple seasons, but the point is that there hasn't been any growth. Besides losing the Outbox Cup final in season three, the Reds haven't done anything of note in this league. Which is pretty bizarre, considering the caliber of teams that have managed to have impressive seasons.

Miri Windtide had to go. The Cenian manager seemed like she was in over her head since her first season with the team, which was also their first season of Outbox League action. It was supposed to be a non-Drawkian hire to give an international mindset to the team for the multi-national league, but it clearly wasn't working. Instead of making an intelligent decision, the Reds decided to cave to the whims of an insane fanbase. Wendy Parsons was the previous manager whose contract expired prior to TOL Season 1, and the Reds front office declined to offer her an extension in favor of signing Windtide. Ever since, Reds fans have clamored for Parsons to return every time the team underachieved.

So, here you go, Reds fans. Wendy Parsons is back. Will she unlock the potential of this team, finally? We'll see about that. Longtime Red Rebecca Quigley retired at last season's conclusion, and management packaged Teresa Lestrange and Raven Connolly in a trade for Kallie Wembley from the Shire-Port Pirates. God help Wendy if Pittsennat falls to the wayside yet again.

_________ SADEG STRIKERS
Location: Sadeg, Drawkland
Stadium: Spartan Veteran Stadium (107,500)
Style: +4 / 3-3-4
Manager: Emilia de la Fontaine (DRK, 74)

ps ## STARTERS nat age

Two Richard Outbox Cup titles. Two top three finishes. Three straight seasons being the second-highest finish for a Drawkian team. The Sadeg Strikers are looking to make that jump to actually winning a true league title, or at least be the best Drawkian team in the bunch.

With how their seasons have gone, there's no reason for high-level panic. However, moves have to be made. Rebekah Booker landed in their lap in the Drawkian soccer draft, adding another strong presence in the forward line to replace Nella Allegri. The team has a good core, but time is fleeting. Longtime captain Shelby Rider is 46 this season, so her retirement will be coming any day now. Let's see if the Strikers can actually make something happen with this solid base of talent.

_________ HESSPORT PIONEERS
Location: Hessport, Drawkland
Stadium: Maldhar Bay Stadium (126,400)
Style: +1 / 4-3-3
Manager: Kara Hoodson (DRK, 70)

CM 7 Eleanor Bannerman DRK 34

The Hessport Pioneers exist. They only arrived in TOL last season from DLK, and at least they weren't the worst. They did benefit from Drawk Corps being inexplicably shitty in season four to avoid nationwide ire. Still, a losing record (9-6-11), negative point differential, and 13th place finish is not really a good thing. Naturally, Hessport management have used the classic "nowhere to go but up!" line.

The good news is that there is some serious talent on the squad. Even as a more balanced team tactically, there are some good scorers dressing for the Pioneers. Team captain Gwen Butler is a legitimate star who will be getting national team attention soon, and recent draft pick Hayley Bell is also a budding star. There are a few weak points, but ultimately this team will be able to compete with most other teams in this league. Maybe don't expect a title run anytime soon, though.

The Chase

Postby Drawkland » Sun Mar 08, 2026 2:38 pm

It made a lot of sense. The Sadeg Strikers were perhaps the most complete team from the Drawkian side of The Outbox League, depending on how you rated the Jaffro Storm. After a few seasons of floating around the top the league, the Strikers were now firmly in the title race. They didn't make it easy for the chasers, either. Once the competitors suffered their first losses or draws on matchday four, Sadeg stood alone at the top of the table. The Strikers didn't even lose a game until matchday eleven!

That first loss did open the door for the challengers, though. Over a three week stretch starting with their first loss, the Strikers lagged behind and only gleaned 2 points over a half-dozen games. The Jaffro Storm surged at the same time, even tying Sadeg at 27 points on matchday fourteen. They fell behind by three points again, but a matchday fifteen-and-a-half tilt between the two teams held in Jaffro gave the Storm an opportunity to come level on points and snag a head-to-head advantage. Instead, crappy weather and excellent team defense on both sides resulted in a nil-all draw that kept Sadeg firmly in the lead. At least the Storm didn't lose any ground, but Jaffro fans would've preferred the six-pointer going in their favor. Go figure.

From there the Strikers only continued to gain ground on the chasers. Their lead reached as much as six points over second place on matchday nineteen, and fortunately for Sadeg their pursuers haven't taken full advantage every time the Strikers have dropped points. Draeg United, Ashialand, and Jaffro have all gone on hot streaks to keep them in the race, but they'll need to nearly win out to overcome the momentum Sadeg has on their side. If there's any solace, it's that both United and the Storm have matches against the Strikers in the final two matchdays. Both games are in Sadeg, but if either team keeps pace in the home stretch, their final showdown could prove to be a de facto title game.

The Richard Outbox Cup, named for Outbox's founder, has been the one place where Drawkians have found success. In four seasons, two have featured a Drawkian team coming home with the trophy. Both titles were won by Sadeg of course, but it proves that Drawkian teams aren't totally worthless in this league. Even in the two seasons that were won by other national representatives, Drawkland at least had a team in the championship game. For better or worse, TOL fans must always keep their eyes out for whichever Drawkian team will go on a run in the ROC.

Unfortunately for Drawkian fans, the hopes of a loaded semifinal slate were dashed. Only two Drawkian teams survived the carnage of the opening rounds (including Pittsennat crumbling against the lowly Columbus Constrictors on the road in the prelim round). To make matters worse, those two Drawkian teams (Jaffro and Sadeg) were set to play each other in the quarterfinal.

Now, friendly fire concerns aside, this was still a cinematic matchup. This game came only a couple weeks after Sadeg and Jaffro's tense scoreless draw that resulted in Sadeg retaining their lead on the field in the season table. Storm fans were itching to actually stick it to the Strikers, and this quarterfinal coming at home was the perfect time to do so. This time the weather in Jaffro wasn't so bad, but the defenses were still well-prepared for the attack of each team. National teamers Cam Cross and Shelby Rider were totally held in check. The home fans would have something to cheer for, though. Another Kick Corps member in Toni Dillan showed her stuff, executing a wicked pass to Amelia Severin that split the Sadeg defense and got back Blanche Dunbar for the lone goal of the affair.

Jaffro got the last laugh in the cup, but now the pressure to execute has only increased. The Storm are the sole Drawkian representative in the surprisingly cosmopolitan semifinal field which features one team from each of the primary TOL nations. Their chances of pulling out the regular season title may be slim at this point, but only two wins separate them from their first taste of tangible TOL silverware.

Another season of The Outbox League, another season in which the South Newlandian teams are not good.

Despite the best innovation in the history of the league, the Cuddle Division, in which the South Newlandian and Ranorian teams face one another three times each, the teams of Abel Wesoloski-Okafor and Lambros Tantalopoulos simply can’t get a good season together to save their lives.

The Lions have at least been sending some signs of life. Despite a perfectly even record and tenth place, they stand in the Semifinals of the Richard Outbox Cup thanks to strong wins over Draegynsreim and Herzegovina City. They also came close to becoming the first South Newlandian team in the modern era to make it to the Knockout Stage of the CEdC, picking up two wins and narrowly missing out on the best-third-place spots despite a 0-6 home belting at the hands of eventual runner-ups Blubeck.

Meanwhile, the Broncos, led by their Banijan manager, finished last in their CEdC group despite a shock win over 1899 Szbedansk. They have already been eliminated from the Richard Outbox Cup in the first round proper, and have dropped below the Lions in the standings, having looked quite weak in recent weeks.
According to insiders, Wesoloski-Okafor is likely to be relieved of his duties at the end of the season, which is understandable given the complete lack of any success in five years for Rüsselsheim.

For both teams, with merely 4 teams to play, the playoffs, for which they would need to finish top 7, seem impossibly far away, and the Blizzard have just about wrapped up the cuddle division title at this stage.

The only thing left to look forward to is the season series. The Broncos won 2-0 at home on MD15 thanks to goals from Dresdner and Heath, with the Lions providing little resistance. They’ll meet twice more down the stretch, on MD23 in Walstreim and for the season finale on MD25 in Rüsselsheim, where the Lions will be eager to at least level the season series, which would likely also see them ahead of the Broncos in the table. Given recent form, they seem likely to achieve this.

Rüsselsheim win the TOL Playoff Final

What the fuck was that?

Inexplicably and with no warning, the Broncos have gone on a seven-game win streak to somehow pull the division out and then went through the gauntlet of Draeg and Sadeg to win the Playoff Final. We’re still not quite sure how Wesoloski-Okafor pulled this off, but two players that must be mentioned specifically (beyond the excellent midfield duo of Bairei and Heath) are Gong Xiaolei and Napoleon Dresdner.

Gong seemed to outright will his team to victories down the stretch, posting four consecutive clean sheets. He’d been one of the best goalkeepers in the league before that point, but he became almost unbeatable for the final four games, in which time the Broncos somehow tracked down the Blizzard and took the Cuddle Division on Goal Differential.
The other standout was their diminutive star striker, Katzeburgian Dresdner, who provided an astonishing seven goals in that stretch, nearly doubling his output from the previous twenty-one. That included striking twice as the Broncos blitzed down the Lions on the final matchday, where the team scored three goals in less than 5 minutes.

Finding themselves in the playoffs, with home advantage no less, the Broncos managed to edge out the Blizzard in a see-saw back-and-forth game. Gong looked mortal in this one, with the Blizzard taking an early lead and later finding a 2-2 equaliser, but after Wouter Waal put the Broncos ahead on a corner, the Broncos defense managed to hold on against a late onslaught by Ashialand.

In the semifinals, both Gong and Draeg goalie Leon Maldonado had great games for themselves, with Dresdner ultimately striking again after a deflection just before halftime. Despite two great opportunities late in the game for Marvin Bolton, the Broncos managed to hang on to a narrow lead, sending them to Sadeg for the Finale.

Neither team got much going on offense in this one, with Gong and Blanche Dunbar taking care of what little the teams managed to throw at them. Shelby Rider had the best chance in the 76th, but her header after a corner went just wide. Without a goal, the game headed to extra time. There, it was once again the Broncos taking advantage just before a change of sides, with veteran defender Opio Bikya scoring the winner after a free kick from near the corner flag, and Sadeg simply had no answer despite growing increasingly desperate in front of their own fans.

And that’s how Abel Wesoloski-Okafor led his team to the first ever TOL title won by a South Newlandian team. Good for him.

With the Sadeg Strikers holding a four-point lead with four games to go, the math gets quite simple. Four-point trailers Draegynsreim United and the Ashialand Blizzard need the Strikers to drop points once. Draeg United specifically play Sadeg in the penultimate matchday, so as long as they win that game and Sadeg loses points elsewhere, they can pull the miraculous comeback to snatch the title. Ashialand needs a couple games to go their way, and the six-point dogs Jaffro Storm need two losses out of the Strikers (including a loss to Jaffro in the season finale).

The Strikers had no interest in making this home stretch interesting by any means. Three straight home games to end the season and one away game against Hessport (their easiest possible road game travel-wise) would make it quite difficult for any team to fumble, even though two of the chasing teams are on that schedule. Unfortunately for those chasing teams, the Strikers simply Took Care Of Business. Sadeg beat Hessport and the Corps in back-to-back games, retaining that four-point lead over Draeg United while Jaffro and Ashialand both lost games that effectively killed their title chances.

That aforementioned penultimate matchday still had stakes. Four points behind, Draegynsreim United took to the portal to face the Strikers in a matchup that was a potential title clincher. If Sadeg managed any points out of this game, they'd be impossible to pass and win Drawkland's first regular season TOL title. If United managed the win, then their chances depended on winning against Brigantine Town on the road and Jaffro somehow taking points off Sadeg in a similar matchup.

Rosie Woods had other plans. The best striker in Sadeg's nearly league-leading offense lived up to her billing that night in Sadeg, firing an early goal on a counterattack that proved to be the difference in the game. The crowd in Spartan Veteran Stadium absolutely lit up when the final whistles ended United's desperate equalizer attempts and clinched a championship for the Strikers. Sadeg was a titletown once again.

A Sadeg win on the final matchday (coupled with a demoralized United squad getting blasted by BrigTown) raised Sadeg's point total to 53, creating a 10-point gap between them and second-placed Draegynsreim. This is by far the largest gap by any TOL champion, breaking Multi's 6-point lead over Jaffro set last season. It also placed the Strikers level with United on both goals scored and allowed: 49/29 for a +20 differential. Whatever the case, this season was dominant. There was no typical Drawkian choke, there was simply excellence on the pitch. Everybody on the squad did their part to earn the first title for this young franchise.

Then some playoffs happened for some other new pointless trophy/title, but that stuff is totally irrelevant. Pay it no mind! Totally not important! The Sadeg Strikers are The Outbox League champions! And we know IFCF administration agrees with this assessment.

The regular season for the Jaffro Storm didn't really go the way the team hoped for. They missed their chance to catch the Sadeg Strikers by dropping points in the home stretch. By all accounts, their season should be over ... except the Richard Outbox Cup still provided some stakes. The Storm combined for a single win in the last four cup tournaments. This time, though, Jaffro actually played their way into a team-first semifinal berth.

That semifinal came against the Ashialand Blizzard, who also just played their way out of TOL table title contention. It was going to be an energetic affair for both teams, hoping to scrape some sort of silverware from the season. The Storm were fortunate to have this game at home, and they took full advantage. The normally stout Blizzard defense had been mediocre all season by their typical standards, and that was on full display here. Cam Cross, Toni Dillan, and Lisa Baylor all scored in the first half, and the Storm switched to a tough defense in the second half to lock down the win. The Blizzard were blown away early and melted down in the second half by the Storm, and Jaffro punched their ticket to the Richard Outbox Cup final for the first time.

Jaffro may have given up in the final stretch of the regular season, but with the TOL Cup final in the near future, manager Katherine Henson felt it was better to keep the squad healthy for that mini-title matchup. The one problem was that (of course) the Drawkian team would have to travel to Columbus to take on the other competitor. This season it was Multi Columbus hosting the game, the Dhemixian squad also looking for some silver lining in their mediocre season.

The cup final might have ended world hunger (specifically in nations that paid attention to TOL). Jaffro and Multi had their team talent on full display throughout this game, going blow-for-blow from end to end. Cam Cross opened the score with a fantastic free kick goal, but Gustavo Poole responded in the second half by completing a corner kick from Isaac Frost to tie the ballgame. Neither team could break through in regular time, so it would have to go to extras. This was a little worrying for Jaffro, as Multi already had an extra time win in their semifinal against Walstreim. Bradley Holcomb applied the pressure early with a goal, but the Storm didn't panic. Naturally the Multi defense gravitated to Cam Cross to prevent the immortal forward from getting even the tiniest open to score, but Cam knew how to handle that extra attention. She executed a perfect pass to offseason trade acquisition Marissa Mason on the edge of the box. Mason had found a soft spot in the defense and fired a shot past Wesley Williamson before anybody could react.

You might've been able to hear a pin drop in Dhemix Stadium, as long as you were nowhere near the visitor's section where the Storm fans were fired up. Once again the tiebreaking goal couldn't be found in the waning minutes, so things would go to penalty kicks. Who doesn't love penalty kicks to decide a championship? Angelique Morse certainly wasn't the best keeper in the league, especially next to Williamson, but this night the strikers would decide the ballgame. Yashida Roku started things off on the wrong foot for Multi, responding to Jetta Romano's opening goal with a shot that clanged off the left post. The next five shot-takers would strike true, Toni Dillan and Cam Cross making things look very easy for Jaffro. When Marissa Mason found the next for the second time that night in the fourth shootout round, it became sudden death for Multi. Down 4-2, a miss would give the cup title to Jaffro, and even a make would be useless if Jaffro found the net even one more time. Eric Workman came to the mark for Multi, his team's season on the line ... and he skied it. The ball spun into the eighth row of a nearly motionless crowd. The Jaffro Storm had finally won the Richard Outbox Cup!

The Jaffro Storm may have sold their chances of winning the TOL table (again), but they finally had a Cup run to hang their hats on. Ironically, this was nearly the worst TOL season for the Storm. Their regular season finish of 5th in the table with 39 points equaled their worst result (S2), and their 33 goal output was the worst on their record by far, though their 27 goals allowed was a best mark. This was also affected by a 25-game schedule as opposed to 26, but still. All that to say, the cup title certainly does a lot to make this season more of a success. Can this core finally put it together to win a real title, though?

Debrief for the other squads:

Pittsennat Reds: Coming a bit out of nowhere, the Reds floundered for most of the season before a potential wild card spot in the all-new TOL playoffs incentivized a late run in the regular season. Though their offense was once again unremarkable, their defense was on par with the league champions and most of the solid defensive units in the league. Rachael Bright had another spectacular season worthy of the national team star, and may be playing herself into the Drawkian soccer Hall of Fame. Wendy Parsons certainly did enough to keep her job another season, pretty much equaling the best campaign led by her predecessor Miri Windtide. The steps forward will be expected in future seasons, though.

Hessport Pioneers: Their second season of TOL action was a marked improvement from their debut year. Finishing top ten with an even record and a positive point differential is ... progress! And though their defense wasn't as good as hoped, the offense was second only to the top two teams in the league. Gwen Butler has really made a case for a Kick Corps invitation, and the Hayley Bell draft pick was an absolute hit. The forward pair combined for 30 goals, many of which were assists from each other. If this duo keeps kicking with an actually competent defensive line, the Pioneers may be a problem in the future.

Drawk Corps: Patricia Brady might be out of a job after one season. Maybe you can call the entire roster dysfunctional at this point, with this being the second consecutive season the Corps has bottomed out the Drawkian TOL teams and only outpaced the farce team(s) and worst actual team in the league. The craziest part is that the Corps had the fourth-best offense in the entire league. Cali, Fields, and Santana were cooking all season long. Unfortunately, the defensive holes were horrific. Having 48 goals allowed means the Corps had by far the worst defense in the league from all teams that don't have a nice cut of ham on their crest. If there isn't improvement coming soon, there may be very serious consequences across the Corps soccer organization.

Just minutes remain until the ball will roll on the final Matchday of The Outbox League Season 6.
For the first time ever, a final matchday will have nine different games; and there’s still a lot on the line for teams all over the table.

Starting at the top, Brigantine Town have the chance to clinch their second title since the inaugural season with a win in Draegynsreim. They are chased by Jaffro, who will be playing in Pittsennat needing to win to have a shot. Additionally, the Sadeg Strikers still have outside chances to repeat as regular season champions, hosting the Drawk Corps, but they certainly will not become champions literally today. As a reminder, a tie on points in the final standings will trigger a winner-take-all match for the title; which could either be Brigantine-Jaffro or Brigantine-Sadeg, depending on results elsewhere.

Additionally, Brigantine is not the only team with things to play for in The South Pacific. The Constrictors will host Multi in an all-Columbus battle for the second Dhemixian Champions League spot, with the Sneks needing to win at home to take it away from Multi; and on Cantilever Memorial Field, Holderbridge Ununited and Placeham sans Holderbridge are duelling for the final Challengers’ Cup slot; with Placeham needing a win to jump their rivals.

Elsewhere, the Revolt are hosting the Blizzard in Richardson in yet another direct battle, this one for the Cuddle Division title. The Blizzard need to win on the road to jump Richardson for this important honour. The Drawkivision title will be settled in the previously mentioned Sadeg and Jaffro games, while Brigantine has already had the Dhivision title sewn up for weeks. In Esportiva, the Lions are hosting the Broncos to settle the title of least-bad South Newlandian team in, you guessed it, another direct encounter, with the Broncos needing to win on the road.

And all of that is not to mention the Playoffs. Only four teams -- Brigantine, Jaffro, Sadeg, and the Revolt -- have already clinched their spots, and no fewer than seven teams remain alive to jostle for just three remaining places in the TOL Postseason. The games are about to be started, so we’re going to take one final look at the standings:

Sadeg is immediately going to work right from the kick-off. Traverso carrying the ball up the middle, quick pass to Booker, who taps it back to Kearney, and the veteran midfielder takes a chance from distance. Pauline Mondo flies as the ball flies narrowly above the crossbar of her goal, but Sadeg is sending a message early.

The Ashialand Blizzard is getting some pressure going early. Jack Nightingale with a corner kick, and it descends dangerously into the box. Mack Ford tries to clear it, can’t quite get it out of danger. Lanning with the second cross, Rick Bennewitz rises highest, but the header is easily caught by Gray.

Gregory Baker carries the ball upfield for Draegynsreim, keeps his head up, plays the perfect pass for Bolton, who’s faster than Onnelsuks on the backend. Shoots, but Atkins with a spectacular save with the foot, the ball goes out of play. A scary moment for Brigantine early, United clearly isn’t interested in letting them cruise to the title.

Jaffro still hasn’t really been able to take control of the game here in Pittsennat. Here it is Toni Dillan with possession, and she’s got an idea -- long pass to Leblanc on the wing, she’s got space, cross into the middle, finds Severin, header -- goal! 2-1 Jaffro!

The Privateers strike! In what has been a rather slow game so far, Ranoria City has taken the lead in Dietrich, it was Frank Sprinkle who came up with a shot after the ball bounced around in the box following a corner. No chance for Linus Weidemann.

Defender Fritz Nostitz with a long clearance out of the box of Richardson, and the Revolt have a counterattack rolling. 2 on 2, now 3 on 2, Quattlebaum with the ball, to Howard, back to Quattlebaum, who has just the keeper to beat! Leiber tries to come out of the box, but Quattlebaum keeps his head up, finds Schönfield open, and the Ranorian slots it home for the equaliser. The Revolt tie it up, 1-1, and retake control of the Cuddle Division!

The Reds remain active, it’s a very even game in Pittsennat. They’ve got a promising-looking free kick here, to be taken by Alanna Hanson. Played short, Wembley with space, takes a chance, but denied by a brilliant save from Morse between the sticks of Jaffro, who remain just one goal short of the top.

It’s half-time everywhere now. Brigantine, despite not especially threatening to score, remain in the driver’s seat, but one goal in either Pittsennat or Draegysreim could change that. The Blizzard and Lions are just one goal away from jumping into the playoffs, so there’s everything still to play for in the second half.

Draegynsreim appear lifted up by their lead and now look like the better team for this stretch. Peters to Harrington, on the left side, pushing the ball upfield, fouled by Holland, who already has a yellow card, and is lucky to not get sent off here. Free kick is played quickly, a shot, and Baker’s attempt goes off the post, Draegynsreim keep possession and look to build up another attack.

Brutal foul there by Olson, and the referee has sent him off! A second yellow for the Draegynsreim defender, and United will have to defend the final five minutes or so with 10 men. Free kick for Brigantine as well, Obisana will take the ball. A five-man wall by United, trying to hold on. Obisana crosses the ball in, McMahon!! Goal for Brigantine, McMahon with a header, only 1-2; Brigantine carries the ball out of the net and to the center spot, trying to restart play as soon as possible.

The Dragon Went Down To Drawkland

Draegynsreim United is about as wild a team as you can get. They sucked in the first two cycles, somehow won the whole thing in S3, and then went back to being horrible in the last two. You are unable to predict what they'll do any given season, let alone any given matchday. I'm frankly surprised that the fans are still as passionate as they were at the club's inception. Point being, United is Outside Looking In FC. Until S6.

Draegynsreim will end the sixth season of TOL play at ninth in the table, missing the playoffs and being sent to the CC for what feels like the hundredth time. In the first five seasons, no Dhemixian team had won the Richard Outbox Cup, yet they'd managed to win the league thrice (look away Constrictors fans). Sadeg has two, Jaffro beat Multi on pens for their one, Istria from Banija has one, and even the Blizzard have one, but no dice for the Dhemixians.

In the meantime, the Strikers were going on a generational run, having won the league in both S5 and S6, running circles around the rest of the league in the playoffs, and earning a date with Draegynsreim for a shot at the extremely (not at all) illustrious TOL Double. No one had ever done it before, but S1 BrigTown came close. They ended up falling to Sadeg at home in the final, which would constitute the first half of their title defense in S2. In the S2 final, Sadeg would walk into Firebreather Park and escape with a narrow 3-2 victory over this very same United squad. Any Draegynsreim fan from the start would tell you that they thought S6 would be a repeat of S2, and it's easy to see why. The Strikers are stacked, and Draegynsreim's striker just retired midseason in his prime.

The only guy worth anything left is Gregory Baker, and fortunately for Drawkland hatewatchers across the multiverse, he would single-handedly prevent the first double in TOL history.

TOL appointed commentator who is very obviously Dhemixian wrote:24th minute here and this one is a lot more tame than the S2 matchup was. We had, what, five combined goals? Today it looks like neither of them will score until penalties. Guerrero in to Baker, he's got a run in! Takes a touch - and he's taken down! The referee points to the spot! Bellrose pleading her case but it won't matter! How's that for penalties?

Baker wanted the opportunity to both win it for Draegynsreim and mildly the Drawkians in attendance, and he did exactly that.

TOL appointed commentator who is very obviously Dhemixian wrote:Gregory Baker steps up to the spot. He'll take a deep breath, stutter steps, fires - AND HE SCORES! 1-0 good guys! If there's anything this group loves doing, it's annoying and pestering Drawkland.

You can imagine they were fairly annoyed when they lost the double to Dhemixia. Baker would put another one in the net in the 72nd to ice the game, and Draegynsreim hasn't looked back since. Disregard the fact that the Constrictors made the CL and they didn't, Draeg's entire regular season was a fluke. This is the true Draegynsreim team we were watching the whole time; we just couldn't find them until it mattered.
It's empty.

When you have the most successful season in your team's history, it makes sense to run it back. There were no free agents leaving after the season, veteran franchise legend and former Kick Corps member Shelby Rider was back for one more ride, and the team was killing it in the offseason. The Strikers made it all the way to the Round of 16 in the Challenger's Cup, by far the best international performance by any Drawkian team in the IFCF era.

Compared to last cycle's offseason which saw 6 players moved in or out of the Sadeg club, this offseason only produced one real addition to the senior squad. Foward Juliet Alders was drafted from the University of Emesamie, a well-known college in western Drawkland. With the near-retirement Shelby Rider likely to be used intermittently throughout the season, it provided the opportunity to give a young prospect more playing time than usual while still leaving room for their development.

All that to say, things were looking up for the Strikers coming out of training camp. Key defensive pieces Blanche Dunbar and Amy Kay both looked sharp. This was especially surprising in the case of Kay, who is due for age regression at any point. Carla Kearney also started experiencing a late career renaissance as a dependable and versatile winger. And of course, outside of the Rider/Alders tandem, the rest of the Striker strikers were on point.

It was clear very early into TOL Season 6 that the Season 5 Strikers were not a one-cycle wonder. Sadeg went undefeated in the first seven games, and though they weren't alone at the top (Jaffro collecting a similar record and Multi Columbus outpacing them by a point), it was easy to tell that the Strikers were still a potential juggernaut. The league wasn't keen to simply hand over the titles this time, though. Jaffro and Sadeg played to a tight 1-1 draw in Jaffro, and a couple days later they'd meet again in Sadeg. That latter match wasn't a battle for points at the top of the table, but the supercup pitting the league and cup champions against one another.

The supercup matchup was nothing short of cinema. Similar to their regular season game a few days prior, Jaffro and Sadeg battled to a 1-1 affair through regular time. After that, all bets were off. The normally offensive teams were careful to shore their defense when playing each other, but extra time threw that approach out of the window as the defenses tired. Jaffro actually took a 3-1 lead in the first half of ET (thanks to Cam Cross and Toni Dillan), but Sadeg crawled back thanks to a pair of untimely but fair foul calls on the Jaffro defense. Shelby Rider and Rosie Woods both converted set pieces into goals, and that 3-3 score held tight to force a penalty shootout. The drama persisted. Both goalies were victimized through the first 4 shots, until an uncharacteristic Jetta Romano airball gave Sadeg a chance to snag the supercup. Instead, Angelique Morse tapped away a Taylor Traverso shot to send it to sudden death. Unfortunately for Jaffro fans, Blanche Dunbar picked the right side against Mavis Leblanc and smothered the shot. This time Sadeg's shot-taker would send the fans in The Vet home happy. Carla Kearney buried a shot in the upper corner, and Sadeg had more silverware.

The actual Richard Outbox Cup for this season had a rather similar game transpire. The Strikers had a first-round bye (which they used to play the supercup with Jaffro), and once they got in they proved several points. Aided by home field advantage, they took down Multi Columbus 2-1 (which helped kickstart Multi's fall down to midtable after their hot start to the season), then easily outscored the Ashialand Blizzard (who were one of the highest-scoring squads in the league along with Sadeg themselves). By then the Strikers found themselves with a third straight home game, this time against the cup-only invitees in Herzogovina City FC. This was the match that most resembled that supercup duel with Jaffro. This time the match went 3-3 in regular time before advancing to a defensive extra time that yielded no scores en route to another penalty shootout. Once again, a few clutch saves by Dunbar allowed Sadeg to survive. They proceeded to lay an egg against Draegynsreim United in Columbus, but that's fine. A triple crown would be a pipe dream and the Strikers already had a couple cup titles in the trophy case.

If you haven't noticed yet, the biggest strength of the Strikers is their offense. The aptly-named franchise absolutely terrorized back lines across the league, though there were several extremely high-scoring squads in TOL this season. The aforementioned Blizzard were one, while Brigantine Town held the pole position for goals scored and points since midseason. That said, the Strikers defense was nothing to sniff at either. They were an all-around great ballclub, but that wouldn't be enough to win the title again.

See, Brigantine Town had an iron grip on the league lead for weeks. Sadeg, Jaffro, and even Richardson made passes at the top of the table, but none of them could make it stick. BrigTown simply had too much momentum. They were not invincible, though. Sadeg had one game in their direct path where they could really affect their destiny. Matchday 23 of 27, the Strikers would host Brigantine at The Vet. A vintage performance from Shelby Rider (2 goals and an assist to Rosie Woods) put Sadeg up 3-1 against BrigTown, and that one match changed the complexion of the title race. Now Brigantine was vulnerable. Just one more loss in their final stretch could be lethal.

Pittsennat, bless them, were still useful. The Reds got close to relevance last season, but this year appeared to be a slide back to the pits of mediocrity. Despite that, they found a way to piss off Dhemixians. In their penultimate home game of the season, BrigTown hosted the Reds and received a belt on their ass. Pittsennat's Kallie Wembley picked up two goals in a 3-0 performance that set the stage for the final week of play. Brigantine Town was up 2 points on Jaffro and 3 points on Sadeg. No team could risk anything less than perfection. Going into the final matchday, that's what everybody did.

One final match to decide the league title. Brigantine on the road against Draegynsreim, Jaffro on the road in Pittsennat, Sadeg at home against the Corps. The stakes were obvious for the Drawkians. Win, then pray.

Unfortunately for Jaffro, the Reds weren't done on their crusade to fuck over a title contender in the final month. Just as Pittsennat shut down Brigantine's offense to make this final matchday a real contest, Pittsennat shut down Jaffro's front line to the tune of a single goal. When you're playing Redsball, you don't need much offensively to win. Unfortunately, 1 isn't enough to cut it. The Storm drew 1-1, and their chances of winning the league dropped to zero.

Sadeg had to take care of business against the Drawk Corps, which has been spiraling the last few seasons. The stress came off early as Carla Kearney fired home a goal after a lengthy sequence, but a draw wouldn't suffice. The Sadeg defense had to play hard for the entire match, but with how well the team was holding possession and pressuring the Corps defense, the job wasn't that difficult. Really, there was a feeling that the Corps were on their heels the entire match. The Vet had a chance to really cheer when Shelby Rider finally appeared out of nowhere and gapped the Corps defense for Sadeg's second goal. Rider was subbed out for additional defense, and the Strikers cruised the rest of the way to a win.

Then came time to watch Brigantine Town, one goal down to goddamn Draegynsreim. It was fitting and convenient that the last game needed to determine the champion lasted the longest. The added time period for the Draeg-Brig game made it so that the Strikers fans and players could watch the final minutes on their own big screen. If the United defense could hold for a few more minutes, the title could return to Sadeg. After a nail-biter of a corner kick was deflected, the final whistles rang out. Brigantine Town and the Sadeg Strikers were even on points.

That meant things would go to a tiebreaking game. Held in Sadeg due to administrative reasons, this would decide the actual league champion. Once again, Amy Kay and the Striker defense held a masterclass. Just as Brigantine Town were held quiet against Sadeg and Pittsennat in the regular season, they once again faltered. Rebekah Booker and Rosie Woods both scored in the first half to put Sadeg up, and even though the 2-0 lead never felt safe in the second half, the Strikers did their job to secure the trophy (especially thanks to two spectacular saves by Blanche Dunbar in the final ten minutes).

Then it was time for the TOL playoffs. The new invention from Season 5 took advantage of the divisional format by establishing a postseason playoff to pit the best regular-season teams against each other for an additional title. This conveniently happened the exact season a Drawkian team finally won the regular season table, making that title seemingly less valuable. Naturally Sadeg fell short of the playoff championship last season, and they weren't going to let the same thing happen again.

The league title win against Brigantine Town did more than give Sadeg back-to-back silverware, it also gave them a first round bye in the postseason. The first action for the Strikers in the semifinals came against the pesky Constrictors of Columbus. Yet another home game held at The Vet, which has become a bona fide soccer haven in addition to its classic status as a gridiron venue. This time both defenses played their asses off in regular time, and shit got real once it went to extras. Grant Clarke put the Constrictors up in the first two minutes, but the Strikers tied it off the foot of Franco before the first break. In the 112th minute, Juliet Alders (who was subbed in for the tired Rider going into extra time) came through with beautiful footwork to carve up the Constrictor defense and give Sadeg the lead for the first time all game. The Constrictors couldn't respond, and the Strikers were going for the double.

It wasn't a double in the traditional sense (cup + regular season), but the Strikers would be sure to count it if they won it. Who would be awaiting them but Brigantine Town, searching for vengeance. Sadeg denied them a title. It was only fair that they return the favor! This time, at least, they wouldn't have to do battle at The Vet. The playoff championship was held at a neutral site, and this year it was perhaps the anti-Sadeg.

That's right, the TOL champion would be decided in Cavsar, Drawkland. Roy Memorial Coliseum held around 164k for Cavsar University football games, but their success in NSCF and DOCA inspired a refresh of the venue. Fresh off the refurbishment, Cavsar looked for a way to show off the improved stadium. The TOL championship was a slam-dunk, especially since the league's replay office was located in town.

So Sadeg fans were forced to travel to Cavsar to support their team. They did still arrive in droves, but the huge capacity allowed for plenty of Brigantine fans to come through the portal and show out for their squad.

The complete lack of defense was perhaps expected given how many games both teams had played that season. The teams were tired, and the Drawkians just had the better endurance. Play was sloppy, but delightful for the crowd and those watching on TV, or streaming, or through the radio call beamed into every Outbox location instead of background music.

And they all witnessed Sadeg dropping one final dump on Brigantine's head this season. The all-time offense showed off their prowess one more time. Woods started things off, then Booker, then Kearney. Things got shaky when Brigantine stormed back late in the match, Bush and Obisana both getting on the board to make it a 3-2 match. Then, one final time, Shelby Rider delivered. Woods got mobbed in the box and Sadeg was awarded a penalty kick. Rider went out to take the kick with 6 minutes left in the match. It was a potential dagger. It was almost certainly the last shot of Rider's career. With the crowd of both fanbases roaring, Shelby Rider stared down Colin Atkins ... and Atkins blinked first. He dove left, Rider booted right, and the ball skipped in to make it a 4-2 Sadeg lead. Minutes later, Strikers fans were celebrating their first playoff championship.

2 cup titles.
2 league titles.
1 supercup title.
1 playoff title.

The future of The Outbox League may always be in flux, but the Sadeg Strikers have put themselves firmly in the conversation as one of TOL's best. It's possible that another team wins a double, or even a triple crown. In the meantime, though, Sadeg got closer than any team has in the past. Could this be the first true TOL dynasty in the making?

*after the game ended 0-2 on the field, Herzegovina City FC was disqualified after it was discovered that the Banijans played with cleats two millimetres longer than permitted.
**after the game ended 4-0 on the field, Istria City FC was disqualified after it was discovered that the the replacement goal hastily brought in before the match was crooked, with one post three inches longer than the other.

The Outbox League Season 7 Preview
qorpsguy quickie

This season, I'm refusing to expend true energy on Drawk Corps soccer. Why should I? They've been borderline unwatchable every single season since they've moved to The Outbox League. One second place finish, which was actually a horrific second half choke that should've been a dominant title run. Besides that season, they've finished either 6th or 14th in the season table. One decent cup run. Multiple managerial firings. Whatever cosmic force that despises Drawk Corps entities in international competition has been licking its chops ever since the founding of TOL. What an absolute joke.

There's not even much to speak of for offseason moves. The actual roster hardly got better. Marla Cummins, who we drafted barely 2 years ago, got demoted to the dev team. Adrianne Eaton was finally offered a deal of "retire before we fire you in disgrace" and didn't bother testing free agency. We got two draft picks, Tameka Simmons and Flora Buckley, who are pretty much going to ride the bench until they're actually good enough to play meaningful minutes. That may even take awhile in Buckley's case, since she was a high school graduate "lottery ticket" pick. It sure as hell worked for Addyson Santana, but I don't think Buckley has that kind of sauce.

The one thing I'm excited for from a player dev standpoint is Marlene Watson. Last year's first round pick, it looks like she's going to get a majority of starts on the wing over Lola Colbert. Would love to see if Watson helps pick up some slack (and ideally help on defense, because our back line might be yet another unwatchable trainwreck). Ultimately I expect us to crash and burn again, defying all logic and reason. Toodles!

Drawk Corps TOL Midszn Review
qorpsguy quickie

People keep trying to bring up my preseason malaise regarding Drawk Corps soccer like they're "exposing" some sort of "cold take." Listen man, I'm not impressed by Drawk Corps not tripping over their feet for the first dozen games. Talk about the table all you want. Yes, the Corps has a 3-point lead on second place, even after 2 draws in the last 3 matches. WHO CARES? There's literally a 6 point gap between Drawk Corps in first place and Richardson Revolt in tenth. SIX POINTS. TWO GAMES. A three week cold streak would send the Corps right back to the gutter. All the real Drawkian teams (which somehow includes Hessport this year) are absolutely frothing at the mouth to take advantage of a series of Drawk Corps mistakes. Everybody knows it's coming. I know it. You'd know it too, if you weren't so desperate to ride off my internet fame that you were trying to deride my perfectly objectively correct takes for attention!

That said, Addyson Santana for MVP. Holy shit she's so good. And Riley Fields might've delayed her retirement by another 3 years with the campaign she's putting together. Great work up front, terrible work out back, just like we expected. Pauline Mondo is a saint for putting up the save numbers she has without killing at least one member of the back line. Wake me up when the Corps actually has the title in hand. Until then, I'm right, and we all know it.

Drawk Corps TOL Final Matchday Preview
qorpsguy quickie

I told you guys. I fucking TOLD you, and you refused to listen. But here we are. Oh yeah, Drawk Corps soccer was topping the league. They were setting the line from wire to wire. Everybody else was just riding in their wake, hoping for a faltering that would never come. And then it came. I said last month that our home game against Hessport would literally decide the title. And I'm pretty much correct! By completely shitting our pants in front of the home crowd and losing 3-0, it confirmed that we'd choke the title away. To make matters worse, the Pioneers turned around and shit the bed even worse at home against Jaffro. So now it's not even a Drawkian team that's going to walk away with the TOL title, it's the goddamn Columbus Constrictors!

Many have said TOL should be obliterated off the face of the planet. I myself have said this at times. But if we unironically allow the CONSTRICTORS to win a title, it's officially over. I'm so sorry that Drawk Corps is technically responsible for this horrific fate. You could blame the Pioneers, but nobody expected them to be good. People expected the Corps to pull it off, and they didn't. Go ahead and score 12 against Malcolm next week, Hessport, you fucking frauds. Not gonna change the fact that you let this title slip through your fingers. Good riddance, both of us.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COLUMBUS CONSTRICTORS WELCOME TO HELL

NEVER DOUBTED THE CORPS FOR A SECOND

I WOULD HAVE ADDYSON SANTANA'S BABIES IF SHE ASKED

*ahem,* my take technically isn't wrong. Salty Dhemixian losers established with Sadeg's regular season title two seasons ago that only the playoff championship title matters nowadays, so there's still plenty of room for Drawk Corps to choke this shit up. That said, I WILL be binge drinking to honor this occasion. REGULAR SEASON TROPHY STILL COUNTS, BABY

TOL Semifinal Review
qorpsguy quickie

Let the record show that I am never wrong. Let the record also show that I am in deep, unbelievable pain. Imagine going up by one goal, then letting three through in the second half. I got to see the fucking Hessport Pioneers rip my heart out live and then stomp on it with steel toed boots. Whatever. These losers better not give up their chance to win a real title. Side note, how the fuck are we still allowing the Constrictors "dream season" to continue? Sadeg are frauds. Rano City are frauds. Hessport we already know are frauds, so this timeline is officially cooked.

At least Drawk Corps finally won A title in TOL. This whole experiment wasn't a total loss. It was only 96% of a loss. That's good enough for ownership to pretend that we're still a real franchise!
