RQFA Announces major Coupe de la Reine change, intending to maximise mid-competition competitiveness

RENEEGRAD, JOONGYEONG FEDERAL PROVINCE - The Coupe de la Reine, this country's primary cup competition (sorry Mossun Cup, at least we know your pockets are thicker), will look slightly different this season, as a major change is expected to change the competitive makeup of the competition.
The competition's main fixture, that of a 32-team fixture once the Coupe enters the fifth round that's considered earliest round to be nationally televised, remains firm. The Royal Quebecois Football Association (RQFA), the sport's governing body, has put the seeding of all teams in later stages of the competition to be a 'non-negotiable', citing its necessity in the competition.
Where the big changes are being made, however, are on the hosting of the home matches. The RQFA has announced that the three mid-stretch stages of the competition from fifth round to quarterfinals of the competition will be hosted by the lower seeds of each matchup, meaning that the top Q-League sides, who until recent years have performed admirably on the IFCF-level competitions, will be expected to face hostile away crowd expected to bide for upset victories.
The RQFA President, Glenda Hanrahan-Boutet, explained that it's a matter of competitive interests across the board. 'The general consensus that many had raised in the recent years were that the nature of the cup competition, where teams are to head into each and every match thinking everything and anything can happen, is being violated due to competitive gaps,' she said.
'It is something that the public has made it clear, one that the RQFA agrees with and intends to follow along. No more, no less.'
The recent years of the competition have no doubt fit Hanrahan-Boutet's explanation. Montreal Koreana have been the most dominant name in the competition, having made last four straight finals including two victories, while last five editions have seen four instances where the top seed has reached the final with two victories (both by Koreana, no less).
Having won the Coupe last season, on top of their back-to-back Cup Winners Cup campaigns last two seasons, the Blue Devils are expected to be ranked as top-seed barring unexpected underperformance in the first half of the Q-League season.
Their title defence, however, will be put on a critical challenge as Zenit Attawapiskat intends to challenge them after coming short on an 0-1 loss that was decided by Lauren Engle's tournament-winner. With Zenit having missed the IFCF competition, something that's expected to put pressure on their manager, Tessa Maitfield, there is a certain layer of optimism where the Aeromen would serious target both the Coupe de la Reine and the RQFA League Cup to recover their sluggish form.
