Predicted Order of Finish:
## TeamThe Red League enters a landmark 25th season - the 35th season of professional football in Chromatika as a whole. Since IFCF 14 twelve cycles ago, the Red League has been the league with the highest coefficient in the multiverse, but it wasn't until last cycle that Crossroads became the very first Chromatik team to win the Champions' League. Just recently, Chromatika translated into the Prime Material Plane in the Rushmori subregion of Pavola. With threats abounding, changes made, and the slow march of time inevitably occurring, how do each teams' prospects look headed into the new season?
01 Crossroads
02 Myana
03 Z'ai'ai
04 Chromatik
05 Alnio
06 Tihon
07 Urrheddiao
08 Wirr Tsi
09 FK Shakhter Z'ai'ai
10 Anomalies
11 Tihon United
12 Lhor
13 Wirr Tsi Lightning
14 Lanar
15 Kynxe
16 Flames of the West
There is no denying the way that Crossroads is rolling right now. Gunnar Skeggestad, the Squornshelan legend who led the Crusaders to their very first Chromatik title, and then a double, and then the Champions' League title, left atop the mountain; and the search for a new Manager ended with Crpostranian Ivan Bakočević, a man more than two decades younger who has experience at both the club and national levels of Management. Having led the team on it's dream run to both the finals of the World Cup and the Independent Associations Championship in the same cycle, he will try to cut his teeth in the Red League. Most of the title-winning squad remains - and the only change is a massive one, the acquisition of Kamijiro international Keigo Nakaji from Tihon United for a hefty sum of money (20 million NSD). A team with five Chromatik National Team players on the roster, it's the presence of Elaine Howard-Dawes and the Lethbridge-Antonio twins that give the Crusaders the firepower to contend for the title once again. Add in Nakaji's playmaking abilities and the defensive core in front of Swanson, and there isn't really a reason on paper why this team wouldn't be in it till the end to try to complete the three-peat (and win their sixth overall).
Zhaxi Nanlei and Myana stuck to their guns this offseason after yet another second place finish. Some may see that as stagnation, but there is a reason why they think they have the pieces to complete the job this time. When you have a team with Laborious Hawk on it, there's always a chance - and Leandro Nyquist has established himself as the other piece in the midfield. Tanith Xu and Radoslav Blaha may be getting on in age, but they're still playing super well; Zahida Thakkar and Aryuna Pankratova complete a stellar midfield whose job is to get the ball to the duo of Bogdan Merino and Leona Tsang. It can be argued that the Islanders don't have the striking brilliance that the other top teams in the Red League do, but the pedigree of the logo and the way that Zhaxi Nanlei always seems to be coaching up his charges to be better as the sum of their individual parts cannot be understated. The Yueren is nearing seventy years of age, and has been Managing in Chromatika for twenty-one season - is the road coming to an end? This is the sixth season since Myana won their seventh title, will they break the drought?
Z'ai'ai surprised everyone by their ascendance last season, making their way into third place and qualifying for the Champions' League. Eric Chapman's squad is the talk of the town, and they made headlines by keeping their star striker, Aitor Cea. Maxim Mazayev's presence at the center of the defense will hope to continue their upward climb, but it's the trio of Samuel Lithobert, Aitor Cea, and Járnbrá Sol Vígmundsdóttir that give the Mountaineers faithful hope that they can cement themselves as contenders atop the league. Is there room to grow for the likes of Fyrek-nam, Ajay Aspnas, Nalet-Kresp Saf, and the Chromatik trio of Behai Griffin, Alina Bilous, and Haley Taylor? They aren't well enough known to draw the best talent from the world every offseason - to get to that point, a level of longevity must be attained. If last season was important due to the breakout potential, this one arguably more important to ensure that they stay in the spotlight.
Having fallen on harder times lately is Chromatik, who fell out of the IFCF CL berths for the first time in a long time. Jannick Kontiola called it quits, and Dénes Robineau returned home to Farfadillis. Enter Crpostranian Viktor Arjiensi, who is labeled as one of the country's finest tacticians. He's more of a tactics guy through and through, and the acqusition of Auprussian Huberdeau Audac will be a key piece for the team to move forward. Martin Seer is experienced but not a very sexy addition in the midfield; with the duo of Joh Fletcher, and Ngjunei Meigun, though, all he has to do is create some chances. With Ronan Pharlan in goal and an experienced Paul Amos in the middle of the backfield, Capitalizt will try to continue to keep up the defensive work they've been doing. Still, it's the first season under new Management - and though the fanbase is antsy after the last season.
Are we wrong in that we constantly count out Alnio as a title contender? Myung Hye-Jung's second season at the helm turned out to be better for the Brewers, snagging the fourth and final Champions' League berth. They've upgraded at striker by freeing Rhannon Aodhan from the Anomalies and obtained a new defender in Quentin Vale - but threats abound from elsewhere. Boris Obomsawin neeeds to have a better season, while Kandice Oriol will have her work cut out for her from the right wing. Closely behind them is Tihon, also under new Management - from Kelssekian Pietro Salinas, considered to be a bit of a risk as it's his first time coaching the Senior role. Sydnei Eason lots in at left wing, but it's the Rinaldi twins and Míkêl Lôçô that make this team tick, along with defensive lynchpin Eden Gundsdorf. Can the Tide get better play from Cyrile Resnais-Mahama and Maude Leanne Coupet?
Ruo Xiolan and Urrheddiao are still in the mix, though most of all that they've done is get Mourdiki Ou-Drake and Brynjólfur Zhenyasson Zhang, two veteran players of the Red League that have had their ups and downs. Ines Sheppard gives them the ability to stay in every game, and the defensive core of Stan Scott-Wilson and Keiki Todaka is still very solid; if Zhang can help free up Kahout and Teplyashina to set up M'bah-Pinho, United should be back in the mix. Believing in Wirr Tsi will take some doing, but new Manager Calvin Horrebett of Indusse hopes to duplicate what Eric Chapman has done. It's the acquisition of Aloyonka Kostyukevich and Tarbi Ksudach that should give the Shock some new hope, though - Ksuadch was for 30 million NSD, which is the highest amount the Shock has paid for a while. Dostoevich is a known quantity to hold down the left wing spot - with these two new players on the center and right, the Shock could threaten once again.
FK Shakhter Z'ai'ai shocked everyone by finishing in fifth place last season - but the small-town aspect of the club means that they don't have the finances to sustain that level of success. River Hanson did manage to retain everyone - good for her - and get one Hanna Hauser to help out in the midfield. Alexei Plant, Rostyslav Vashchenko, and Carl Yacizi are all getting on in age, but this team is definitely the kind that plays better together than individually. Perhaps continued success will lead to some more investment or new Management, but until then, they'll try to be just ahead of one Anomalies, who have truly fallen from grace. The acquisition of Vabwpetob-zok, Demitrius Eimpt, and Artemer De Juliennes-Carmot is the newest gander at new fortune for Jari Alonpaa, but it won't be easy for the squad that has become the third wheel of Chromia. Just making it to the IFCF CC will be considered a success for this squad.
Since Myung left, Tihon United have just tried to stay afloat. Margerie Pax is doing a decent enough job, but the quality of players has gone down - especially with Nakaji leaving for a better team. They've brought in one Kytleran and three Chromatiks to try to help, but it'd be considered a miracle if they can stay midtable. The de La Hay twins are the key for this roster, along with one Enoch Ingersleben. Lhor returns to the Red League after couple years off, Ahailaja Desh having her fourth season now. Marc-Equenois Sulle and Jack Heimdell will try to help the squad stay in the red League - though Fakswr-rof is the key at goal.
Wirr Tsi Lightning surprised everyone by surviving last season - and Victoria Schuett-Vralis did everything she could to keep people from leaving. Eva Brakken adds youth to the fullback spot; Bernat Formiga remains as the key playmaker, and it'll be on the core of him, Pabofen-nam, and Brakken to carry this team. Lanar, still under the tutelage of one Sandra Sybill, has Narges Isshtak joining the mix - along with Pykpyzwba-nam at goal and Denis Otto at midfield from last season. With so few foreign players on the roster, they'll need the young Chromatiks to step up to not be a one-and-done.
Rounding out the roster is Kynxe - who survived but lost their starting striker, and is having to do with some youth, and Flames of the West, with Thomas Hellyer and Lora Brunhilde-Chamberland as the key players.
With so many new Managers in key places and the transition to Rushmore, which teams will thrive in the new environs?
