Convenience Stores in YN

Postby Wairiensies » Wed Jun 25, 2025 2:37 am

Convenience stores are popular in countries such as South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and others. The well-known ones include 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, GS25, CU, Circle K, BP, Emart24, and more.

In America, popular convenience stores are 7-Eleven, Circle K, Wawa, Casey's, and others.

Convenience stores offer a wide range of items, including convenience foods, groceries, drinks, ready-to-eat meals like breakfast sandwiches, and a bunch of other items. They are open 24 hours.

In Japan and other Asian countries, it's different than in America.

In Wairiensies, the most popular convenience stores are 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and the Wairiensies convenience store chain named SwiftShack. It has a vibe similar to the Korean convenience store chain CU. It has stuff imported from both Korea and Japan, even Nestlé Milo (Wairi's favorite drink), and products from Wairi's version of Hostess Cakes called WairiCakes.

Convenience stores are generally small family-owned corner stores, usually doubling as a deli or cafe. The biggest "chain" is the Independent Shop-owners Association, or ISA. They provide coffee, snacks, and a myriad of drinks. Some but not all sell tobacco products as well.

Dacarbatia has a lot of convenience stores, but the most popular brands are 7-Eleven and its Dacarbatian counterpart and competitor Gunjiwine. Most convenience stores in the country primarily sell Dacarbatian-style versions of Korean and East Asian foods such as kimchi, sushi, sashimi, dimsun, and various types of noodles, with Gunjiwine having the most unique products, mainly due to the company being Dacarbatian and that any foods sold in Gunjiwine will be Dacarbatian-styled, adding ingredients and sauces to the products once it was purchased by a customer.

While supermarkets are the main retail markets of Southland, convenience stores do have a notable presence. They've become especially popular in recent years due to, well, their convenience and affordable pricing. Even though convenience stores as we know it started off as worker-run co-ops in the 1950s and typically ran on a municipal- or precinct-level, the notable ones nowadays are for-profit national chains. There are a couple that are family-owned/purely independent, but unfortunately they're starting to become a dying breed for a multitude of reasons. They typically serve sandwiches, reheatable foods, drinks, eSims, e-cigarettes, and small electronics, though some serve ethnic foods like shawarma and sushi, and the ones in New Francisca and Southland City are infamous for selling marijuana buds and joints.

The stereotypical convenience store owner is either a Yōkai or a Hundian (horned human), though regional variants exist. For example, in the Bangeano-majority provinces, the Oyghani people are stereotyped as such, while in the north it's Anthros.

The most notable chains are GrabNGo, 24 Circle, Grasshopper, and Maelle's for the for-profit ones, while the notable co-ops are HeightMart (called so because it was founded in the Golden Heights district in New Francisca) and The Underground Market in Southland City (because it was originally non-sanctioned).

In Matamorosia, Corner Stores/Convenience Stores are quite a staple of its suburban areas, though it mostly appears in urban zones. Now, they are different from Bodegas, also known as Miselanyites, Bodegas are non-company owned stores, which are smaller in size; topically only having one cash register. Convenience stores are company owned, bigger in size and having at least two, on occasion being paired with gasoline stations or placed in malls or airports

Their first appearance was in the early 1960s, when a Maspite, San Obregón Xavier bought an abandoned Gas Station and repurposed it into a small store dubbed OXXO that sold Drinks, Chips and Candy.
Eventually, the convenience stores spread quickly through Pre-Inkopolized Masp and everywhere else around Matamorosia, integrating beer, frozen food, necessities, pre-made meals, books and comics, fresh products, ticket selling, delis, bill payment services telecom plans, marijuana and pharmacies.

The biggest stores are:
- OXXO; 24,207 locations
- 7-Eleven; 13,293 locations
- KappaSale; 9,311 locations
- Kyakasaqi; 4,283 locations
- Pyatyorochka; 3,743 locations
- LeCien; 2,100 locations
- am/pm; 2,011 locations

Supermarkets and convenience stores are located close to the middle of population centres in general: the concept of huge stores at the edge of town is extremely rare. As far as (smaller) convenience stores go, they're only in big cities and around large-ish stations, and even then they're usually not open 24/7 (but close to it).

The one supermarket chain that branched into these smaller locations is Tehlegen, usually found mostly in northern and central Ko-oren. Viola and Kyandar have followed suit but with a far smaller footprint. On top of those, there are smaller regional and local chains as well as mom-and-pop shops - but the latter definitely aren't open anywhere near 24/7.

Considering that Huaxia is the successor polity to the People's Republic of China, the country has the largest amount of convenience stores on Earth, numbering at the hundreds of thousands according to the Huaxia Chain Store & Franchise Association, more than any other nation. The overwhelming majority of these chains are local such as Bilibee, Meiyijia, uSmile (operated by PetroHuaxia), and EasyJoy (operated by Sinopec). Not only that, but unlike other nations, Huaxia is also the only nation to have fully-automated self-serving services in convenience stores, especially after working hours. Since Huaxia has extremely-high levels of safety, immensely-low rate of crime, and overall high social-trust, it's no surprising that customers can still walk into a convenience store during after-hours even without the presence of any workers. Widespread smartphone penetration even across rural communities, ubiquitous mobile-payment wireless services like Alipay and WeChat Pay for quick cashless payment, extensive network coverage of bleeding-edge ultra-high-speed 5G, 5.5G and 6G wireless mobile communications, high population density among cities, and ever-growing numbers of urban commuters who value convenience and efficiency makes Huaxia a fertile land for fully-automated cashier-less 24/7 convenience stores. In fact, when walking into the averagae Huaxian convenience store, customers would see multiple self-service checkouts for their use, robotic food & drink booths that automically prepare beverages and meals ordered by customers, and fully-automated 5/5.5/6G network-connected humanoid robots from local companies like Unitree and UBtech stocking-up shelves and handling both goods and produce. Not only that, but residential complexes across Huaxia are organized into self-sufficient neighborhood units called xiaoqu, with each featuring a set of amenities including grocery stores, barber shops, general stores, restaurants, shopping arcades, fitness centers, retail shops, convenience stores, coffeehouses and dining outlets, entertainment facilities, leisure areas, clinics, post offices, a library and others, as well as containing mixed-use business and commercial buildings, landscaped areas and parks, walkways, plazas and courtyards. As a result, compared to car-centric suburbs of foreign nations, people in Huaxia can simply walk downstairs from their apartment and head to their nearest local convenience store if needed, even in the middle of the night for whatever reason such as buying instant-meals like instant crayfish-porridge or self-heating hotpot, all while simply paying wirelessly by scanning QR codes using one's smartphone.

The government of Jonas Land made convenience stores where people can get things like slushies, chocolate gas and magizines for no money at all, all they need is their ID card. There are 2 different "brands" of convenience stores (as we are not capitalist, we do not have companies or brands that are privately owned, just government owned ones). One is called The Goat's Hoof. It is mainly found in the Turkmen and Uzbeks SRs. Here is a picture of a Goat's Hoof: Image We also have another convenience store called "T8L 1-SK". It is mainly found in the Caucasian SRs. Blunis is of course very small business oriented. This is due to distributist ideals in the economy. Therefore, convenience stores are quite common with stores that sell many things from basic retail products to specialized goods. Many consider the retail industry to be a backbone of the Blunisian economy. One of the largest chains of convenience stores is Hollos’ Foods and Goods, founded by Grant Hollos.

In Dravania, convenience stores are usually either commune-owned local shops or worker-run cooperatives. Before the economic reforms, most were operated through by the communes retail networks, but modern convenience stores are often small worker-owned businesses supplied through local distribution systems.

They sell the usual basics, such as food, drinks, cigarettes, newspapers, household goods, transit passes, and phone cards. but in rural communes they often double as post offices, payment points, or local notice boards.

The concept of convenience stores in Curtus manifested as an extension of the medical system. Unlike clinics, which are designated by red crosses and provide medical services, these Curtusan convenience stores, called Commodities, are designated by green crosses and provide medical products. Aside from acting as pharmacies, these Commodities are a fusion between mini-marts and health food stores, hence making every consumable product inherently medicinal.

As a public service rather than a private enterprise, these Commodities are technically state-run entities; however, what products and produce lack in quantity, they compensate with quality. For example, medicinal cannabis, cocaine, and caffeine are laboratory grade products at minimum, hence sold as flavored single-use digestible tabs in blister packs. Another instance is junk food, such as chips, which are made from protein powder instead of potato or rice flour; likewise, the average Curtusan chip bag is small (equivalent to a 15cm cheez-it bag).

The further points to drinks, such as soft drinks, which are more like electrolyte-loaded herbal adaptogen infusions, and candies, such as bars, which are more like nutrient dense, slow releasing carbohydrate snacks. This also includes the standard packaging, with drinks sold in 100ml aluminum cans, while candies are sold in rigid aluminum tubes. Even in pre-made meals, such as instant noodles, they are sold in tactical polymer bags or medical-like pouches.

As with all modern Curtusan structures, Commodities have standardized floor plans, each having three aisles, which are divided into three sections: solids, liquids, and gasses. Depending on the products and produce sold, Commodities are either refrigerated or temperated climate controlled establishments. Most importantly and consequentially, Commodities are booth-like places, with the customer purchasing products from a counter, whereas the employee/pharmacist operates behind the counter.

In the solids section, everything from bars, candies, capsules, cookies, chips, pills, produce, and tablets are stored, processed, and sold. The presence of fresh produce is noteworthy, because there are situations where someone has an allergic or medical reaction to certain products, such as gluten sensitivity, diabetes, and alcohol intolerance (both in hard drinks and in medicinal products). Hence, whenever supplements are not possible, someone is able to receive fresh produce and expected to consume - whether raw or cooked - them for their own benefit.

In the ‘liquids' section, everything from rehydration fluid, soft drinks, and hard drinks are stored, processed, and sold, including acids, detergents, gelatines, moisturizers, ointments, and pastes. Like the other sections, depending on the products sold, it is either a refrigerated or temperate environment, with liquids being the most sensitive and most common example. Because antibiotics/probiotics, biologics, insulins, and vaccines are stored here, they are not only highly secured and monitored, but immediate treatments and administrations (i.e. injections) can be permitted.

In the gasses section, aerosol cartridges (i.e. inhalers) and sprayers (i.e. repellant, hair spray, and deodorisers) are stored, processed, and sold, including infusions, canisters, and air fresheners. As such, citizens own a collection of high-quality, reusable aluminum dispensers (a reusable hairspray nozzle or deodorant spray body); hence, whenever they go to a Commodities, he/she is only buying the standardized, compressed gas replacement cartridges. The system scans the spent canister, verifies it is empty, and only then authorizes the pharmacist to dispense the new one at a subsidized rate; hence, the state then remanufactures and refills the old canister, achieving a high recycling rate for pressurized goods.

Fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy food are common in local convenience stores, and they are often located within 15 minutes walking distance and some are open 24-7.

There are many Outdoor vending machines and many of them have fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy food in them as well as some other items. They try to have at least one per town in a common area.

public bathrooms are often open 24-7, many include a bidit and a shower(some are a pay shower pays for water, some have free water in a limited amount that automatically turns off) small disinfectants are sold in a vending machine near by. They try to have at least one per town that's open 24-7 in a common area.

Small sleeping pods and showers are sometimes available to the homeless to use for free.
They try to have at least one small camp ground per town, that homeless can often stay at for a certain period of time for free.

Convenience stores in Tyrol tend to take a somewhat different form from the dedicated 24-hour shops common in some other countries. Small neighbourhood supermarkets and grocery stores are widespread throughout towns and villages and generally stock everyday food, drinks, toiletries, household essentials and other basic goods. These stores usually keep conventional retail opening hours rather than operating throughout the night. The largest chains in this part of the market include MPREIS, SPAR and BILLA. MPREIS is particularly prominent and operates a large network throughout Tyrol, including its smaller miniM format, which is specifically intended to provide local grocery shopping in smaller communities and neighbourhoods. SPAR also maintains a widespread network of ordinary supermarkets, alongside SPAR express stores that operate primarily in the convenience and petrol-station market.

For purchases outside normal shopping hours, petrol-station shops and stores located at major railway stations and transport hubs fill much of the traditional convenience-store role. SPAR express is especially common in this sector, with some locations remaining open from early morning until late evening every day of the week. BILLA also operates several petrol-station convenience formats, including BILLA stop & shop, BILLA Unterwegs, VIVA BILLA and BILLA NOW, offering smaller selections of groceries, drinks, snacks, fresh food and household essentials. Bakeries and cafés also form an important part of the convenience sector, particularly for breakfast, coffee, sandwiches and other food-to-go, while shops in major tourist resorts often maintain longer opening hours to accommodate visitors. Hofer and Lidl are also widely encountered as food retailers, although they function primarily as discount supermarkets rather than conventional convenience stores.

Major convenience store chains in Neighland include Véeńdhetas (lit. “I forgot” in Ponish, often romanized as Venditas), with 1824 locations; Moonlight, with 766 locations; High Hat, with 647 locations; and The Little Merchant, with 618 locations. Venditas is almost completely exclusive to Pony Country and Moonlight to Deer Country, while High Hat is well distributed across the country. The Little Merchant, a Saddle Arabian-based chain, is mostly located in the southeastern portion of the country around Violasfarne but has a surprising presence in Rutterdam.

Another notable chain is Company Store, which as its name suggests has its roots in the Southeastern Haybaling Corporation that founded Violasfarne. It used to have 380 locations in Violasfarne alone and 204 elsewhere, but competition from the Reinsburgh-based Venditas and The Little Merchant among others have eaten into its market share precipitously, and a food poisoning scandal in its donuts in GH 1375 greatly hurt its reputation. Most of its locations were bought out piecemeal by competitors (the antitrust division of the Ministry of the Economy failed to approve a merger with Venditas in GH 1390) or completely liquidated; but eighteen remaining franchisees decided to buy out the remaining corporate shell and reorganize as a co-op; it has somewhat recovered its earlier reputation and remains something of a Violasfarne icon.

In many places, convenience stores are the only places where one may find preserved and processed meats, particularly where Griffins are a significant population. Curiously, many stores will sell cookware office supplies, and professional art supplies, but not candy or coffee, as those goods had historically high tariffs. Auto supplies are also uncommon particularly since gasoline-based vehicles have been all but banned. High Hat stores also usually a have a pharmacist on staff to perform routine compounding of Federal Apothecary (the state-run pharmaceutical manufacturing monopoly) drugs, whereas most others simply just sell the standard over-the-counter medicines.

Convenience stores are massively popular in the Republic of China. As of 2024, the Chinese Store & Franchise Association estimates that there are 503,000 "convenience stores" within the country. The "Big Three" domestic chains - Hi-Life, Shoulian, and Wumart - command approximately 15% of the market, while foreign chains such as Seven Eleven, Carrefour, and FamilyMart play an important role. Convenience stores first emerged in the 1970s on university campuses and other densely populated residential areas of major cities. They achieved national prominence in the 1990s as brands such as Hi-Life and Wumart expanded across the country and the supermarket chain Shoulian started to launch its own convenience stores. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, convenience stores had to introduce new services to compete with their rivals. Hi-Life introduced postal services in cooperation with Pelican Express, while Wumart launched its prestigious Wumart Premium membership initiative that allows members to access a range of discounts, free goods, and a "Community Library" at select local stores, offering free book & DVD rentals as well as cheap rentals for power tools and cleaning appliances.

In recent years, convenience stores have become launching points for new innovations in the retail industry. Hanshe currently operates a portfolio of 147 "smart convenience stores" in select cities, largely on or near to its various corporate campuses but also adjacent to major shopping centres. These stores are staffed for twelve hours a day and remain open but unmanned for the remaining twelve hours. After staff go home, the stores can be accessed by using a Yongshe payment app code and goods can be purchased using the app.
