SIRENIA, LISANDER — Dantopia earned a crucial three points in their quest for World Cup 101 qualification, thanks to a 2-1 win over Lisander at the Estádio Sparta in Sirenia. First-half goals from Ezra Cunningham and Bradini Brunson proved enough to secure the points against Ricardo Navarre's side, despite a late, long-rang screamer from team captain Saber Neville. The result sees the Lions stay in pole position in the qualifying group table, though there is of course, a lot more football still to be played. However, the allure of the promised land — a maiden qualification to a World Cup finals, will undoubtedly be starting to cross the minds of manager Rick Bishop and his players.

The head coach made five changes from the eleven that won against Sudilia, with knocks to Alex Bullvale, Emerson Cromwell, Kai Watanabe and Johnny Kealoha keeping them out of the travelling squad. The other exemption from that previous side — Adebayo Adeyemi — was merely not selected, rather than injured. Bishop has a talented group of thirty-five players to select from, however, and rotation will be key for the Lions as they pace themselves during the qualifying round. Winston Akana, Makaio Cruz-Richards, Bradley Bing, Sam Hughes and Zaïre Thomas all made the starting cut, with six further changes evident on the bench, showing how much deeper the Dantopian squad is this cycle, as opposed to previous ones.

The Lions were able to carve out the first opportunity of the match, within two minutes, after a sensational run from Bradley Bing saw the 19-year-old beat two of his markers and drop the Lisanderian goalkeeper Anders Michaelichen, before laying the ball on a plate for Zaïre Thomas, but the Dartford Oilers winger couldn't hit the back of the net, his right-footed effort being expertly blocked by the defenders. There was absolutely no doubt it would have gone down as a brilliant assist, if not for the last-ditch defending of Luís Rosell.

It was a truly electric beginning to proceedings from the away side, as Dantopia earned three corners in as many minutes, but Lisander also showcased their counter-attacking prowess through the explosive Leo Artemon, whose burst through the defensive line earned Keegan Foster an early yellow card. Foster simply had to bring the run to an abrupt conclusion, else Artemon would have been through on goal. The Lisanderian crowd, irked with the cynical foul, made their displeasure clear to the Miruan City defender.

Michaelichen was forced into the first save of the match with Dantopia's strong start continuing. Yellow card recipient Keegan Foster was, this time, at the other end of the pitch, with another corner for the visitors. His powerful header was barely kept out by the Lisanderian number one, though replays clearly showed the whole of the ball had not crossed over the line. Moments later, a sensational looping pass from Ezra Cunningham found its way to the feet of Bradini Brunson, through on goal, but solid shadowing by Marian Valens meant that the defender could recover his position and block a further effort on goal — the ball going out for yet another corner.

Ezra Cunningham
It was from this particular set-piece that the Lions would get the goal that their superb start had deserved. Taramaia's flighted ball was headed back across goal by Keegan Foster at the back post, with team captain Ezra Cunningham in the perfect place to nod Dantopia in front. This would mark his third goal of qualifying already, and he could have scarcely asked for a more simple finish.

The hosts, however, were almost level just minutes later, when Lucas Brax's cross-field through ball found Lukas Hiltmann on the charge. Hiltmann, in his eagerness, had slightly overrun the pass, and could neither convert the opportunity for himself, nor square it to the wide open Artemon, who had barelled past his marker and into the penalty area. Lisander continued to threaten, with Milen Kaplanoski found in the area by Christian Nantel, but the left-back's shot was saved sublimely by Winston Akana in the Lions goal. The Vna-Chuhul Ravens goalkeeper would be tested again, but Brax's finesse shot from just inside the box proved to be a straight-forward catch for the 28-year-old.

Bradini Brunson
Both sides continued to trade blows until Lisander put together an excellent passage of play, which split the Dantopian defence. Inexplicably, Artemon's refusal to pull the trigger immediately when played through on goal by Tássio Camden meant that Makaio Cruz-Richards could aptly recover, making a swiping last-ditch tackle, which Akana could then palm away. Lisander looked threatening, but it was the Dantopians who would sniff out the next goal. A picture-perfect sliding tackle by Sam Hughes would find Jeremiah Taramaia on the break. The Lion City FC playmaker would have Zaïre Thomas to his left, and Bradini Brunson to his right during the three vs. two counter-attack. Taramaia opted to play it to his club-teammate Brunson, with the 28-year-old striker able to maintain his composure and slot away the chance with aplomb. Dantopia were able to maintain their two-goal advantage heading into the break.

Following a half-time substitution, which saw Sam Robinson-Tate make way for the more attacking DeAnthony Moorhouse, some might have been forgiven for thinking Rick Bishop wasn't happy merely for Dantopia to rest on their laurels. This would be further supported by continued threat from Keegan Foster on corners — the Lisanderians unable to prevent the 6'4" defender causing them all sorts of problems. Foster had another headed effort saved by Michaelichen, before the hosts would bring the ball up the other end and narrowly fire wide through Brax on the counter attack.

A rare slip-up from Foster almost let Lisander in when Artemon robbed him of possession in Dantopia's box, but his centre-back partner Cruz-Richards was on hand to make the crucial block and deny the 24-year-old Club Sparta player a chance to score for the national team at his club's stadium. Brave defending was evidently a theme of the evening, when Foster made up for his previous error by putting his body on the line to deny an acrobatic effort from Hiltmann, following a second phase attack from a home team corner.

It was Dantopia's turn to crank up the pressure again, as intricate interplay around the 'D' led to Ezra Cunningham laying one off to Sam Hughes, whose pile-driving effort squeaked past the post, with a relieved Michaelichen in net thankful it was off-target in the end. However, with mere minutes left on the clock, the hosts hit back with a stunner of their own. Team captain Saber Neville had marauded forward to the edge of the box, and after shifting the ball past a tiring Sam Hughes, released a rocket of his own, besting Winston Akana in net, who was partially unsighted by his own defenders in front of the effort.

Reinvigorated, Lisander piled forward in search of a late equaliser, but Rick Bishop's men were able to weather the storm, through some smart game management, and a series of late substitutions which helped wind down the clock. Bishop had been conservative with his changes up until this point, and was afforded four more substitutions across two breaks of play — the recipients of these run-outs being Dwight Krol for Kaleb Kahananui, Jeremiah Jackson Jr. for Zaïre Thomas, and Nehemiah Cunningham and Omari Opetaia for Bing and Hughes respectively. The three points solidifies Dantopia's position at the top of Group 4 after three games, a huge nine points out of nine so far for the Lions. This type of form had been unheard of for Dantopia in the qualifying stages previously. Might this finally be the year the nation can qualify for their first World Cup?

Football 101 - The Bounce Back

Postby TJUN-ia » Mon May 11, 2026 7:11 am

After a wacky cycle of both hope and dismay, the Jaguars of TJUN-ia found themselves 6th in Group 6 after the opening 6 games - not totally out of the picture, but certainly not where we want to be at all. Everyone is still being calm about it all, simply because of the format and because of it being PvO's first go around in WCQ and having teething problems only comes with the pressure and the circumstances, but you could be forgiven for being concerned, even if it isn't as intense as it was two years ago. TJUN-ia usually finds itself in a position where it has work to do; it has been a part of our national identity for a long while now, but that only means that we are comfortable with this sort of lifestyle. Maybe going 16-0-2 or whatever is just too boring for everyone, but that added drama doesn't mean we can flounder again. Everyone is hopeful that this pain is necessary for the gain of returning to the Dance, but it will be up to this team to prove that this is the case.

La Estadio Universidad Carlandas was a cauldron of noise as it hosted the #88 Pigs of Srewartika, a team who were also underperforming compared to their pre-WC ranking. Everyone in that stadium was hungry for a performance that would help keep that hope as high as it was, and in this one, we certainly did that. Diana Sharafutdinov, Sylvia Usabyimana, Belle Whitewater and Valentin Tubylov would all end up scoring past Jorges Grovalle in this game, as while the WC100 Participants certainly threw a lot at us over the course of the 90, our defence and Gloria Pon in goal were simply too good, and that would be the deciding factor. 4-0, you love to see it, and so we are back in this hunt.

Then came the trip to Cedarville Stadium to face the bottom side in this group - the Verde Lions of Cothe Saria. This game should've been simpler than it actually was, but that's just how the cookie crumbs in TJUN-ia and everyone accepted this reality a long time ago. As two teams playing similar games, we knew that Yanis Cunobelinos wasn't exactly going to lie down for us on home soil, but the true MVP performance had to come from the opposing captain, Samuel Ezras, in the sticks, who simply was on a mission to frustrate everyone in our Third Kits and was on point for much of the context. The winning goal we scored in this contest only happened in the 56th minute after a mix-up in defence, with Zaine Bowry doing the rest, but that was all we could do against this guy. Which is fair play. GGs to the Verde Lions, we hope you can take this performance as a confidence builder...just like we have for this window.

A +6 into the points bank moves us back up into 3rd, behind only the two teams ranked higher than us pre-WCQ. In some ways, this is the natural order restoring itself, but to the TJUN-ian fanbase, this is simply going back to square one on the mission to get Top 2. The Homestand is a double-header this campaign and Part 1 against Valentine Z has the potential to be a historic atmosphere at Beregozera Stadium in Szensky. After that, we head to Kepu Manu for a rematch with Quakmybush in a contest many will hope will spark our redemption in this group.

Two huge games on home soil. Simple as that.
GO JAGS!

MatchDay7 Results:
United States of Alpha 0, Choppyhausen 2

Summary: Yep, we suck. Got absolutely blasted off our own turf. Just f*ck it.

after the game:
Harrison_Delvi: Dude, we just got owned that game.

NotJustBry4: I swear to god guys, I shouldn't have tried to livestream the game. I swear those Choppyhausenians were stream sniping. I'm gonna go tell the officials.

noobus: Come on man, if anything, we lost becuase you were distracted with your stream instead of trying to play defense.[/i]]

JustBry4: Come on guys, we're better than this. If we had tried harder, then we could at least had a draw or win, but no. It's alright guys. Besides, we have to lock in tomorrow against Flavovespia. See you guys tomorrow! [/box]

MatchDay8 Results:
United States of Alpha 2, Flavovespia 3

Summary: Losing by that many goals almost makes me want to slam my desk. We did so good that game, and in the end it amounted to nothing. The only good news from this is that most teams ranked at our level don't perform as well as we do. But, the pain is real.

after the game
Hookem2019: Are you kidding me!? We were doing so well tonight. We got so close, and in the end those, uhhhhhhh, bozos slipped one past us. Complete bullsh*t.

noobus: Yeah, to be honest, I feel you. However, I know I've said this when we were down 2-0 against Eriadni, but we still have hope, even amid these circumstances.

ItzSarath: This place sucks man. Let's get out of here and get wrecked all over again.

NotJustBry4: Honestly, if we can come within a goal from Flavovespia at their stadium, then we can beat the Indusseans. And as a plus, they're our only opponent that we have experience against, meaning we know at least some of their tricks. Now, we gotta rest, lock in, and come back here tomorrow. Also, SCREAM SIX SEVEN FOR GOOD LUCK!

Olemmeko Vain Keskivaiheilla?

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Mon May 11, 2026 9:19 am

After a window that showed both the good and the bad, the Huuhkajat found themselves 3rd in a Group 1 that had turned into a Battle for 2nd. That was fine in the eyes of the average Suomen, as the Top 2 were auto spots, but that also meant that every game besides those against Ääniorjainen were going to be huge for our qualification chances. Pitkä Tie Takaisin was a long road for a reason, and Esko Laaksonen was hopeful that everything would turn out swell in the end...but this cycle certainly helped to dampen the Suomen spirit.

First, our opening trip to the Galaktien Colosseum in Lumikukkulat all campaign as glorious Länsi-Vdara came to town. Many were expecting this game to be tougher than you might think, especially considering the #70 ranking they had entering this process, but Vdaranin Kansandemokraattinen Tasavalta Läntiset Alueet (to give them their full name) and Ivanis Grigorelis were a sneaky bunch, and they managed to take the lead just 5 minutes in thanks to a header from Andrei Christodoulou. We spent a good chunk of this game trying to get that goal back, which we did in the 71st thanks to Eero Wirkkala, but after that? We couldn't break Dimitri Petrovic down again and so, we had to settle for the 1-1 draw. It took us down to 4th, but it wasn't the end of the world.

The Abanhfleft game? That one was just a whole world of pain. Of course, we knew that the Fleftic side was going to be tough foes, that comes with the territory, but the way in which we lost this was just...yikes. We took the lead in the 78th thanks to Ebba Persson, and so everyone was hype as all hell, with many people thinking that was a dagger. It was not. Instead, two goals in the 88th and 89th through Sacit Közalmaz would end up being the dagger 1-2 that crushed our very soul. In the moment, everything was quiet and bleak...and there was nothing we could do about it.

8 games down, we find ourselves in 4th with a 5 point gap to 2nd. The view we held of ourselves being, at the very least, decent was fading fast without serious medical treatment. The upcoming LumiDouble will be very key for everyone involved within the Huuhkajat setup, with both 2nd-placed Hanalinen and 8th-placed Andso Mangis on the docket.

Tarvitsemme pisteitä. Ja nopeasti.

FINALY ON THE RIGHT TRACK !!

Dear viewers, another round of qualification for the World Cup has begun. It is also the only major sporting event in which our nation has not participated.
My name is Stjepan Ružić and I will guide you through this biggest football competition and one of the biggest sporting events ever held.
The hosts of this year's World Cup are Farfadilis and Paradystopia.

Image

Our team finally caught the rhythm and played together. After we literally spilled points because the attackers were imprecise, now the situation is reversed. Our balls finally end up in the opponent's nets. With two wins in a row, the momentum is finally on our side and with 6 new points, we have reduced the gap to the teams that are in the upper part of the table.

RASPOTOCHJE vs SREDNJACI 4-5

13' I.Gero 1-0 27' A. Natković 1-1
39' K. Gerotić 2-1
57' R.Kiltić 3-1 66' P. Marinović 3-2
82' R. Kiltić 4-2
85' I.Matković 4-3
88 ' V.Rublev 4-4
92' T.Tavano 4-5

At the national stadium in Kotiga, the hosts Raspotochje and Srednjaci played a heart-stopping match! A football beauty, a football rhapsody, a match of the previous part of the qualifiers...those were the headlines in the football media.
In front of a packed audience at the national stadium in Kotiga, our players turned the score from a 2-4 deficit to 5-4 and took all three points!
The hosts started aggressively and offensively from the very first minute. Our team was unable to organize itself into more than four accurate passes.
Ivan Gero, the right winger of Raspotochje, scored a goal with his left foot for a 1-0 lead for the hosts in the 13th minute of the game.
After that goal, our players seemed to have regained their composure a little and started to free themselves from the pressure imposed by the hosts. Our players cover more and more of the field and get in front of the opponent's goal. In one such action, an opportunity to score came out of nowhere, which Adalina Natković took advantage of. After one breakthrough, Natković scored to equalize in
27' of the game, 1-1.
The pace of the game was killer from both teams. The home team did not allow themselves to settle down after the shock of the tie and they continued to besiege our 16 team with creative football. It paid off for them in the 39th minute of the game when Katarina Gerotić scored a great volley for a 2-1 lead.
The home team's lead was maintained until the end of the first half, despite the opportunities that the players of both teams had. In the 43rd minute, Zimmer hit the post and Li Peng sent the rebound over the goal.
In the second half, our team opened up because we were again looking for an equaliser, which left plenty of opportunities for the home players to counterattack. It was from such a well-organized counterattack that we scored a goal in the 57th minute of the game, and the scorer was Robert Kiltić. It's not a good situation for our team because now we are 2 goals behind, the score is 3-1!
However, our players kept their composure and continued playing as if it were the very beginning of the match.
In the 60th minute of the game, Li Peng left the field unnoticed in this match and he was replaced by Petra Marinović.
In the 66th minute of the game, Tomljanović takes a great shot, the home goalkeeper barely saves the goal, and Petra Marinović reacts brilliantly to the rebound and reduces the deficit to 3-2. The match is once again completely open, but time is running out. Our team is once again trying to threaten the opponent's goal with quick transitions, but they are still leaving room for a counterattack.
Another counterattack was fatal for our team. The home players performed an incredibly fast counterattack, and Robert Kiltić broke out in front of our goalkeeper, scoring his second goal of the match and bringing the home team's advantage back to 4-2!
Our players start from the center again, the minute is 82' and the score is 4-2! It started from the center and our players organize the attack, after a few minutes Isidor Matković passes three Raspotochje's defenders and sends the ball behind the home goalkeeper's back... well, that's a gooooool for 4-3!! An incredible goal by our best player. Immediately after the goal celebration, Matković, our best striker, comes off the game, and Valery Rublev enters.
The home team loses the ball with a bad pass, our team runs into a counterattack, Rublev masterfully frees of Pavao Kerović and scores to equalize at 4-4 in the 88th minute of the game!! Unbelievable! Eight goals!
The Raspotochje players can't believe they've blown a 4-2 lead. Nervousness has entered their ranks and the assistant referee shows 4 minutes of added time!
Wan Su Huilin, the home team's central midfielder, hits the crossbar with a great shot but the ball is cleared by Danijela Majić far towards to the center of the field where Ilija Matić and Takanobu Tavano fights for the ball. Tavano was more successful and the quick-footed Tavano rushed towards the home team's goal. Matić fails to catch up with him and he tries to cut off his diagonal but Tavano hits the second bottom corner of the goal with a great shot and that's gooooooooool 5-4!!!!
It's unbelievable!!
Srednjaci managed to turn the score around!

SREDNJACI vs MYTANIJA 3-2
32' P.Marinović 1-0
47' Heon Min Ho 2-0
77' P.Marinović 3-1

After a great performance against Raspotochja, our main players felt tired and the manager left them on the bench.
Against Mytania we could not count on Li Peng, Isidor Matković, Takanobu Tavano, Ante Tomljanović, Adalina Natković and Danijela Majić. They were given a rest. But others came in instead and managed to play another great match against Mytanija, who currently holds the last position in the group.
Petra Marinović is in great form and she confirmed it with two goals in Melarit against Mytania.
Heong Min Ho got the chance to play from the first minute which he took advantage of and scored a goal. Min Ho played the whole match.

MELARIT

HISTORY

The history of Melarit dates back to ancient times. Melarit was an important city for trade.
Trade meant a lot to the city, where in addition to trade, shipbuilding, production of oil, wheat, salt, stone and shellfish also developed.
There are records that the production and export of shellfish was a very lucrative business. Melarit was proud of his navy, they were excellent sailors.
All this leaves a lot of room for the development of the city in education and science.
Melarit has developed over the centuries and today is one of the most beautiful cities on the coast. It is the second largest city in Srednjaci with 4.260,000 inhabitants.
In recent history, Melarit is the largest port in DR Srednjaci and one of the largest in the region. The cargo port carries an enormous amount of cargo. Apart from being a large port, Melarit is also a tourist destination with a large number of hotels and resorts. The rich historical and cultural heritage attracts millions of tourists every year.

Old Lorentine Names and Origins

This chapter takes on the Old Lorentines (Or more accurately, Lorres) that I, personally think are the most interesting historically. That doesn't mean it's all the interesting names but a lot of these are Ancient, legitimately older than a lot of the cultures around Auprussia today. These names have largely been out of favor with the modern Lorentine person but it is an interesting case of how things change overall.

Esqer:
One of the first Lorentine names ever documented, it was recorded by a scribe in 2459 BSE as associated with a wealthy patron of the arts. The information on his descendants is a bit fuzzy but multiple Lorentine families have claimed him as the start of their line. The most prominent being the Vinoleon family who have resided in both Chagris and multiple parts of Alba-Morgavin and are famous patrons of art inside Auprussia and you would think that since they resemble the man the most they would be the most likely descendants. Follow this though, Esqer apparently had multiple children with different women at various times in his life according to sources (albeit not very provable) and the Vinoleon family can only be traced back to the Settlement Era, what about the rest of the time before then? Historians are very split on the subject: It's possible that Esqer had multiple lines of descendants throughout the ages but there's not a ton of proof regarding well anything other than his wealth and the fact that he existed.

Hevalend:
A ruthless chieftain first recorded in 2206 BSE. His exploits and downfall were subjects of oral tradition before being written down by Tavarre Arendeleo (1610 ASE-1665) as La Fin de l'Autome. This is one of the few ancient Lorentine names that not only survived to the modern ages but have distortions and an analogue as well. Haval is the obvious evolution of the name and is the modern Lorentine version but "Havlande" has also been espoused by the other cultures surrounding Chagris. (Namely Auprussian, Basonic, Pied, Ostisse, and Crousault). Historians did manage to figure out that he did in fact exist but scenes from La Fin de l'Autome can't be verified totally. Hevalend did have confirmable descendants though and they eventually founded the prominent Ardansau family who are known for their influential scholars and military members.

Toren:
Toren was allegedly a King ruling a Kigndom spanning Northwest Chagris and stretching into East Basonia and was the subject of many old Lorentine stories at the time. Tales of a kingdom of rubies and sapphires ruled by a powerful king who eventually, got too arrogant and fell to an army of what the Old Lorentines called "Basouqour". Most historians don't exactly think this kingdom existed though and all evidence pointing to Toren's kingdom existing are just stories passed down orally. The only thing that puzzles historians is that term "Basouquor". The Basonic tribes according to consensus where still at the Basonic peninsula and will migrate out of that peninsula inland starting around 1900 BSE so a story about an invading army of "Basouquor" could indicate that the Lorentines occupied modern day Basonia and were kicked out but as noted, it's dubious at best and most don't know if there is a real connection between the "Basouquor" and the Basonic tribes. For all we know it could be another tribe who migrated before the Basonic tribes.

Gaida:
Gaida was a woman who had journeyed to Southern Auprussia around 2000 BSE. The accounts of her journey were written by a scribe by the name of Irol and these accounts described life in Southern Auprussia before the Settlement Era. She had run ins with the dwindling Trinitarists, the Teolanders who will eventually take over much of the west of Auprussia early on, a people called the "Verandi" who were in the middle of a war with a people called the "Autevins" who are now known as "Autevikens". Gaida then had run-ins with the hostile Aalmar tribes who were in the middle of a huge conflict at the time before moving back up north through the fledgling Morgavin states being raided by the Angevines who were called the "Argu" at the time before finally getting back to Chagris. A lot of the history of Southern Auprussia that we know now were due to accounts written by travelers and Gaida was the first recorded to do this. As for what purpose of the journey was? Irol purposely doesn't state it and merely says it was "an important journey" Make of that what you will.

warkASS frauds finally EXPOSED
by notpatql-df2

god, i’m so glad those frauds have FINALLY been exposed. the blethynball crowd are finally being forced to reckon with how idiotic and delusional they are. they got to the semi finals of the cup of harmony (a competition for LOSERS, mind you) and banged on about it like they’d won the world cup. if you take a look at their run it was pretty mid anyway, like they beat fellow bottler sides dhemixia and eastfield lodge (both teams being a gazillion times better than warkus btw, but dhemixia’s crappy manager literally died before the game and eastfield lodge were clearly phoning it in by that stage AND they got lucky) and then once they beat kandorith they ran out of steam completely. then there was the cafa cup: a competition for a ‘region’ that’s younger than most of the nations in it. did you know warkus reached the quarter finals? wow, so impressive! and they finished 4th in the totally not biased and rigged ‘arial system’ group stage! (any half-decent team would've won it or at least finished 2nd, but whatever) these incredibly meh feats were so impressive that they powered warkusians to the peak of their delusional arrogance. and now they’ve finally been brought back down to earth.

‘blethynball’ is the dumbest piece of nonsense propaganda ever, like it manages to be both braindead and pretentious which is why those warkusian morons ate it all up. blethynball is a ‘tactic’ where all the players run around doing whatever they want, swapping positions and going ‘inshallah castell or rose will dribble past the defenders and score’. in other words, it’s not a tactic at all. it’s the complete absence of a tactic. warkus fans really spent a good year and a half convinced that a guy with the same mind for football as a 5 year old playing his first game is the warkusian juan tzimisces.

‘b-b-but the possession numbers! the XG!’ bro who cares? you don’t get to qualify because you sometimes hold the ball more than your opponent or generate more made up goals for nerds. you wanna look at stats? here’s a stat: warkus SUCKS. source: one win and two draws in eight games. the ‘underlying numbers’ (always the refuge of any delusional loser btw) are underlying in the sense that they’re literally under the ground. you know what else is underground? warkus’s qualifcation chances. rip bozos.

and anyway, if you losers actually studied stats you’d know about this thing called ‘reversion to the mean’. basically, it means warkus can win some games even tho they don’t deserve too but eventually they will get found out, which is what’s happened if you’re not paying attention (that’s another thing: warkus fans don’t actually watch warkus games. no one watches warkus games. i am the ONLY person who watches warkus games, unfortunately. everyone else just watches clips and highlights online or just looks at the results without looking into whether warkus deserved to win or not. that’s why you have people out here genuinely believing that perfume and ugly jacket merchant llewelyn rose is good, cos all they know about him comes from those obnoxiously edited ‘LLEWELYN ROSE BEST GOALS & SKILLZ COMPILATION’ videos.) there are only so many games where your ‘world class’ forwards can fail to touch the ball more than three times before you have to admit they’re absolutely washed.

there are still some holdouts, obviously. collective delusions aren’t easily broken. ‘it’s a small sample size’, ‘it’s only been 8 games’, ‘they’ll turn it around and even if they don’t they’ll qualify next time real’ yeah, no. you’re out, warkusians. if you actually watched your team’s games you’d see how brittle they are. but no, all you guys do is watch clips and read thomas blayney articles (genuinely the lamest fence-sitting moron to ever come out of the blogosphere) about how warkus might be good but also might be bad and also might be okay but also it’s so complicated, look how nuanced i am! please give me a trophy for my insightful sports journalism!

the only other annoying thing is how some of the genuinely unwell warkus fans seem to believe they’d actually be able to compete under a different manager, with different tactics, with different players (you notice the more you talk to these people that even they secretly believe that warkus will only ever make it if they were a different country altogether). jack blethyn is a fraud, i want that to be absolutely clear, but i almost feel a little bad for him. cos everyone who has EVER been involved with that team has always been a fraud, every single one of them. they all suck. vladimir lucian sucked, manvu roost sucked, victor vos sucked (he’s arguably patient zero for the warkusian delusions) and every other player and manager, dead or alive, sucks. blethyn was the best they could get and yeah, he sucks, but the WFA will NEVER replace him while he’s dating the country’s queen and even if they did they’ll have to go overseas to find someone half-decent. not that they’ll be able to do that anyway, cos any manager worth their salt would take one look at that squad and run away from that job as fast as they can.

anyway, i hope you’ve enjoyed yet another reminder that i am ALWAYS right and I ALWAYS WILL BE. if you’re gonna cope and seethe about this post pls do so in the comments, it helps my engagement. and if you mass report me and get me banned again i’ll just come back on another burner to roast you again. see you losers in 2 years when warkus rebuilds and you go full delusion mode again because they go on a run of 3 wins and we have to put up with you droning on about the ~PhILoSoPhY~ all over again. until you collapse once again.

Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Zenic » Mon May 11, 2026 12:34 pm

"I don't know. I'm just the Federation President. I'm not supposed to micro-manage everything. I know what I know and that's it. I'll let you know if that changes. Find another national team to bother. Goodbye."

FZF President Luke Killian hung up the phone and tossed the cellphone on his table. That was the seventh attempt from the media to get his official statement on the Survivors situation in the World Cup Qualifiers and he had only been in the office for TWO hours! Was he as concerned about their recent form as everyone else? Certainly, maybe even more so than the others. But he wasn't going to let most of those vultures that call themselves 'journalists' know that.

Killian was accustomed to rough stretches of play as his time on the Survivors and with his clubs exposed to him to both the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. And this stretch of play from the Survivors was not as bad as he had ever seen but the media and social media were having a conniption over it. 6th place at the moment with a chance at finishing anywhere from remaining in 6th to as high as 3rd place before the second half of qualifiers start is not bad. However, Killian understood one of the necessary evils that comes with success: expectations.

Many of the Survivors fans currently supporting the team were either too young to really remember Killian's era or hadn't even been born yet so they had no idea that Zenic only made one World Cup in several attempts before the ZFS Conflict disrupted everything. In fact, their 'tournament' (that everyone expected them to qualify for) was the Cup of Harmony: three visits with one group won and a trip to the Quarterfinals. Could Zenic have established a history of making the World Cup consistently if it wasn't for the ZFS? Probably. Or it could just as easily have been a blip and the Survivors would have gone right back to being Cup of Harmony residents.

In the end, history is history and what matters most is the present. Zenic have won every single game at home so far, which is great, but are still heavily struggling on the road, which is less than great. The squad aren't completely useless on the road as they've managed to earn a win and a draw to accompany their three losses but Killian would have loved for at least one of those losses to have been a victory. If they can manage to beat Libegeist in Manacus to remain perfect at home at the halfway point of the Qualifiers, even if it (miraculously) fails to move them up the table, the momentum could not be ignored.

A squad dominating at home heading into the second half of World Cup Qualification where most of their games will be at home? Things were certainly looking up for the Empire. Of course, Killian would try to have a small chat with Zys and the crew to see how they can correct their traveling woes but if they can at least finish undefeated at home and steal one or two more victories on the road in the back half of the schedule, they should easily earn a spot in the playoffs. And once you're in the playoffs, anything can happen. Whether that would be an acceptable result was another question that Killian and the Survivors staff might have to answer for at a later time and date.

For now though, Zenic were still very much alive in the hunt to stretch their consecutive World Cup qualification record to 6 straight trips and Zys would see what he could do to make that a reality. Maybe he could....."Gee, wonder who THAT could be?" Killian picked his cell phone back up and flipped it to see the screen. He noticed it was a number he had not seen before and answered. "Luke Killian, FZF. Who am I speaking with?" The moment he heard the voice on the phone, Killian's rage resurged.

"Oh come on! Stop calling me! You know calling me from three different burners isn't going to get me to change my answer! I've got a federation to run. Goodbye!"

R2WC101-PARADYSTOPIA & FARFADILIS

We're back on the football scene and launching a new sports campaign. This time it's an adventure on the road to the football world cup in Paradystopia and Farfadilis.
My name is Katica Dorić and you are watching ROAD TO WORLD CUP on your Gladiator TV!

Image

Although our football team played the best game of the season and one of the best we have ever played, we lost in the end.
We had a big lead of 3-1 and 4-2 but Srednjaci managed to turn the score around at the very end of the match and win 4-5!
The National Stadium in Kotiga was filled to the brim. Despite the great support, we did not manage to win.

In the very next game, we were the hosts again, and this time the Bostopia team came to the same stadium as our guests.
We again had a lead of 1-0 and 2-1, but we were unable to capitalize on it into a victory. Bostopia pulled out a point and our players will have a big problem regaining their confidence in the following games.

Today we will introduce you to some of our universities where our athletes are educated.

WE PRESENT YOU: BAKINA STIJENA

BAKINA STIJENA - the university deals with sedimnets, geology, archeology and geography. It is located in the capital Kotiga but also has a branch in the town of Drum.
A highly esteemed university and beyond the borders of Raspotochje.
Archaeology is a popular science in our country, so it is not surprising that our famous archaeologists are leading experts in archaeology projects outside our borders. They are very much in demand when it comes to excavating old stones...if someone wanted them to be visible, they wouldn't be underground!... then the bones and graves of people and animals...leave the dead alone!
Forgive me for expressing some of my views, but that is simply stronger than me. Actually, if they like digging so much, why don't they dig canals for water and sewage installations, our country has a problem with labor anyway! Basically, when it comes to digging nonsense, our people are experts at it, that's what I wanted to say!

WE PRESENT YOU: UNIVERSITI OF KOTIGA

UNIVERSITI OF KOTIGA - The largest university in the country. It is located in the capital Kotiga and the university is respected and known throughout the region.
Kotiga University combines many aspects of science and technology. Biology, medicine, virology, these are the main branches of this university. However, many other sciences are studied at this university, but some things that are on the edge of science, supernatural phenomena and mythology! In any case, this is perhaps the most fun university because it is quite versatile. 15,000 students attend this magnificent building!

Look here’s the facts Andso Mangis won’t qualify , it’s always great to see the journey along the way. The 2 wins and one loss have been exhilarating, the losses not so much. In other news the Andsonian government has passed the anti 67 act this prohibits the use of the number 67 related to the meme for selling merchandise or services. Another law passed is the anti AI law limiting AI replacement in the workforce and the use of ai in creating or using IP’s hopefully next time around we’ll be back better than ever

"I know we've been keeping up with the World Cup and all and we're doing solid, not as good now with that second loss but things look good for the fortune, but most importantly I want to know if my cats are gay?"

"You want to know if your cats are gay?"

"Yeah, are they gay or are they just brothers?"

"Like look here. They're cuddling."

"Cats do that."

"But like all the time. Shouldn't they be fighting, shouldn't they be like taking their own spots. Are Cats not very solitary?"

"I mean sometimes. But like come on. Do they be you know....When I am away?"

"I mean what do they do when you're around."

"Lot of licking."

"I mean they are cats."

"But like all the time. Cuddling and stuff."

"How often do you think about if your cats are gay?"

"At least once or twice a day."

"I mean do you have gay cats? You could."

"Very much could. Like non-stop all over each other. Rarely ever fight."

"That is very interesting."

"And one of them is older, and one of them is more impressionable. I've never had two cats get along so well so quickly."

"Yeah. I mean usually they are used to being alone so introducing them can be a bit of a chore."

"Yeah, but when they met the first time the older one, newer to us wouldn't come out at first but he saw his brother and suddenly he was a social butterfly with him. Not with us. He is still a bit of a recluse the old man."

"Yeah I mean it happens. But who knows."

"Well can cats even be gay?

"I mean penguins can be gay so why not cats?"

"Fair enough."

"It is the conversation that is sweeping my friend group."

"I mean I get that but what does it have to do with soccer?"

"Oh I mean i get easily distracted and the team was so poor on the double road trip I figured I'd distract us."

"Fair enough."

By now, there is a familiarity with the kitchen when our athletes enter, they know the pantry, they know the lay of the land. The kitchen likely is going to need a psychologist once Motyka is done with it. She walks in first, carrying three chili peppers in her pocket “for emotional support.”

Solfroy notices immediately.

“No.”

“They’re decorative.”

“You said that about the emergency paprika.”

“And I was right.”

“It exploded in the fryer.”

“It exploded beautifully.”

Across the room, Davorka is still glowing from the previous win.

“We’re on the board,” she whispers excitedly to Ante.

“Yes.”

“We have momentum.”

“Yes.”

“You could at least pretend to be excited.”

Ante thinks about it for a second.

“...good momentum.”

Davorka gasps dramatically. “Growth.”

The Old Guys stroll in with their usual calm. Grimaud looks deeply content now that seafood (and butter) has restored his faith in the universe. Morris, meanwhile, appears exactly as serene as always. The Belfrage sisters step through the doors composed, but something seems a little different. The feel a little less cautious and aloog, less restrained. Socorra notices Motyka unloading an alarming quantity of peppers onto the counter already.

“...oh no. Already?”

Andarra follows her gaze.

“...yes,” she says softly. “Oh no.”

Iardwallon, clad in a fiery red suit, steps forward.

“Welcome back to Nine Circles to Glory. We’ve survived comfort food, street food sabotage, vegetable madness, and the sea itself..."

Henrik leans into his microphone. “...some of us barely survived Motyka.”

Motyka bows.

“Today,” Iardwallon continues, “we'll see what true survival looks like."

The lights shift red and the audience reacts immediately, knowing what is coming.

“Round Five: Spice & Heat.”

Motyka slams both hands onto her station. “MY TIME HAS COME.”

Solfroy closes her eyes instantly. “No. For the love of... anything, no!”

“Oh, yes.”

Chef Voss raises a finger. “Important clarification: this challenge is not about making food painfully hot.”

Motyka lowers one hand slowly.

“It is about balance,” Voss continues. “Layered spice. Complexity. Understanding heat. Make. It. Edible.”

Henrik points at Motyka. “We are all looking directly at you while she says this.”

“I feel persecuted.”

“You should.”

Iardwallon grins.

“And today’s stipulation...”

The contestants visibly tense.

“...each team must use at least three different kinds of chili or spice heat in distinct ways.”

Motyka tilts her head. "How is that a stipulation? I thought that was implied."

“Fresh heat. Dried heat. Oil-based heat. Fermented heat. Smoked heat. Build layers, and important, not just pain.”

Motyka looks inspired in the worst possible way.

Solfroy notices instantly.

“Oh no.”

“Oh YES.”

The timer appears.

90:00

“Your time starts now!”

The pantry raid is less frantic this time. Mostly because everyone’s terrified of what Motyka is about to do. She descends upon the peppers like a prophet returning to her homeland. Fresh chilies. Dried chilies. Fermented chilies. Smoked peppers. Some terrifying dark red paste in a jar nobody else even touches.

Solfroy catches up halfway through.

“Wiołeta.”

“No time.”

“Wiołeta.”

“I’m creating.”

“WIOŁETA!”

Motyka turns slowly, clutching enough peppers to legally concern several governments.

“...yes?”

“You are not making biological warfare.”

“Debatable.”

Back at their station, Motyka begins assembling flavours with alarming confidence.

“Fresh bird’s eye for brightness,” she mutters. “Smoked cascabel for depth. Fermented ghost pepper for mystery—”

“No ghost pepper.”

“But—”

“No.”

“But it whispers to me.”

“I don’t care if it sings opera. No.”

Meanwhile, the Belfrages do something unexpected: They loosen up. No tiny tweezers. No hyper-minimalist plating sketches.

Socorra grabs spices with actual enthusiasm. “What if we stop trying to make everything elegant?”

Andarra glances over. “...go on.”

“We know technique already. What if we make something bold?”

A brief pause before Andarra smiles, a real smile this time, with some sisterly mischief.

“I think,” she says softly, “that sounds fun.”

This immediately changes the energy at their station. They move faster now. Freer. Laughing occasionally.

Even Henrik notices. “Oh, this is different.”

The Old Guys approach the challenge cautiously.

“Spice should support,” Morris says.

“Yes,” Grimaud agrees. “Not assault.”

Across the room, Motyka dumps another chili into a blender.

Grimaud watches silently for a moment. "Speaking of assault...she cooks like a supervillain.”

Morris nods thoughtfully. “But a charming one.”

Storm and Sea remain terrifyingly competent.

“Paprika.”

“Yes.”

“Roasted chili.”

“Yes.”

“Ajvar?”

Ante nods once. “Good.”

Davorka grins. “We are so Mytanar right now.”

Ante actually chuckles faintly. The audience audibly reacts because apparently that’s rarer than eclipses.

"Did you just... did you..." Davorka is without words, but Ante just continues to cook.

Forty minutes in, Chaos and Fire begin deteriorating once again.

“This is too much,” Solfroy says after tasting the sauce.

“It’s layered.”

“It’s violence.”

“It’s passion.”

“It burned my soul.”

“Good depth then.”

Solfroy physically walks away from the station for a moment, staring into the middle distance.

“Are you okay?” Davorka calls.

“No.”

Motyka continues adding things unsupervised.

“Wiołeta!” Solfroy shouts immediately.

“What?”

“You are smiling like a mad scientist again!”

“I have achieved enlightenment!”

“You’ve achieved felony heat levels!”

At Team Belfrage’s station, however, something magical is happening, almost as if the discord within Chaos and Fire brought a newly found fire to the sisters. Freed from their own perfectionism, they’re cooking with instinct now.

Charred peppers. Warm spices. Rich sauces. Real punch. Socorra tastes the sauce and actually laughs.

“Oh, that’s GOOD.”

Andarra tastes it, too, then blinks. “Oh wow...that’s really good.”

There’s genuine excitement now, and the entire atmosphere shifts. No more control and precision, but actual joy cooking.

“Thirty minutes remaining!” Iardwallon's voice booms out.

The kitchen is drenched in spice aromas now, in smoke, chili oil, toasted peppers, something truly eyewatering from the most dangerous of cook station.

Henrik points accusingly toward Chaos and Fire. “My eyes hurt.”

“That means flavour,” Motyka replies proudly.

“That means evacuation protocols.”

The final stretch hits hard. The Old Guys produce a beautifully balanced spiced lamb-free stew with layered heat and smoked aromatics, while Storm and Sea put together grilled skewers with paprika marinades, chili oils, and roasted vegetable puree.

Team Belfrage create spice-crusted vegetables with rich chili glaze and warm flatbread. And Chaos and Fire... well, they create something glowing faintly red.

Solfroy stares at the finished dish. “...we’ve made a mistake.”

Motyka wipes sweat from her brow proudly. “We’ve made history.”

Solfroy sighs. "Yeah, but definitely NOT for the right reasons..."

“Hands up!”

The judges approach carefully, exceedingly carefully.

Henrik actually pauses near Chaos and Fire’s station.

“No.”

Motyka blinks. “No?”

“We’re tasting yours last.”

The audience erupts laughing.

Solfroy nods immediately. “Smart.”

“I hate all of you.”

Chef Voss gestures toward Team Belfrage first.

Socorra steps forward. “Alrighty, this is charred vegetables with layered chili glaze, toasted spice flatbread, smoked yogurt, and roasted pepper puree.”

Henrik blinks. “...you two made something aggressive.”

Socorra grins slightly. “We wanted flavour.”

The judges tastea and their reaction is one of both delight and surprise at the same time.

DeLuca points at them. “THERE you are.”

Chef Voss nods firmly. “This is your best dish.”

Socorra actually looks startled.

Henrik takes another bite immediately. “You stopped hiding behind elegance, you didn't cook to a plan, you cooked with feeling. It shows."

Andarra smiles softly. “Maybe.”

“No maybe,” Henrik says. “This has personality.”

For the first time all season, the Belfrage sisters genuinely look thrilled, not just content.

The Old Guys present next. Grimaud gestures lightly. “Layered vegetable stew with smoked spices and chili oil. Basically a lamb stew, just minus the lamb.”

The judges taste.

“Very balanced,” Chef Voss says.

DeLuca nods. “Comforting again.”

Henrik smirks. “You two refuse to cook bad food. It’s annoying.”

“Consistency matters,” Morris replies calmly.

Storm and Sea continue their momentum.

Davorka presents enthusiastically. “Paprika-marinated skewers with roasted chili puree, charred vegetables, and ajvar oil.”

The judges signal their immediate approval again.

DeLuca nods appreciatively. “Bold without overwhelming. It shows that when you embrace your inner Mytanars, your cooking becomes a lot more fluid and intuitive.”

Chef Voss points toward the puree. “Excellent restraint.”

Davorka gasps dramatically. “We learned restraint!”

Ante nods once. “Dangerous.”

Finally, the judges approach Chaos and Fire again, and it looks like they are trying to find a way out. Henrik clutches a glass of milk preemptively.

Solfroy looks exhausted already, while Motyka beams with terrifying confidence.

“So,” Solfroy says carefully, “this is smoked chili-roasted vegetables with fermented pepper glaze, charred citrus, spiced lentils, and—”

“—DESTINY,” Motyka interrupts.

“—and layered heat,” Solfroy finishes firmly.

Henrik points at the plate cautiously. “Is it safe?”

“No,” Motyka says honestly.

Solfroy sighs. “Probably not.”

The silence immediately after tasting the dish tells more than a thousand words could. Then, DeLuca starts coughing and Henrik’s eyes water instantly. Chef Voss takes three deep, calming breaths. “...wow,” she says finally.

Motyka leans forward excitedly. “Good wow?”

Henrik grabs his milk immediately. “AGGRESSIVE wow.”

“But layered?”

“...yes,” he admits reluctantly. "Layers of pain."

Chef Voss nods slowly. “The flavour is actually extraordinary.”

Solfroy looks vindicated. “THANK you.”

“But,” Voss continues carefully, “you crossed the line from balanced heat into endurance trial.”

Motyka looks genuinely offended. “There was a line?”

“Yes.”

“You hid it well.”

Henrik wipes tears from his eyes. “I think I briefly saw God.”

DeLuca is still coughing laughing.

The deliberation is agitated. Not just because of the discussion about who had won, but also due to the judges continuously drinking milk, eating ice cream and the likes. DeLuca keeps going back to Team Belfrage’s dish. Chef Voss looks deeply conflicted.

At the stations, tension builds hard.

Motyka paces. “Cowards. Weaklings. Mortals.”

“You weaponized ghost peppers,” Solfroy says.

“They’re misunderstood.”

Across the room, Socorra looks nervous for the first time. “I think we actually have a chance.”

Andarra nods quietly. “Yes.”

Davorka grips Ante’s shoulder again. “Okay but we’re in contention too.”

“Yes.”

“That feels good.”

“Yes.”

“You really only have one emotional setting.”

Ante considers.

“...two.”

Finally, the judges return to Iardwallon's grin. This one looked painful.”

Henrik side-eyes Motyka immediately. “It was.”

Motyka blows him a kiss.

Chef Voss steps forward. “Tonight featured the strongest overall cooking we’ve seen so far.”

She looks across the teams. “Three dishes could realistically have won. The first,” she says, “showed remarkable consistency and control.”

The Old Guys nod slightly.

“The second delivered bold flavours with confidence and identity.”

Storm and Sea straighten.

“And the third...”

She looks directly at Team Belfrage.

“...finally let go.”

Socorra stops breathing entirely.

“The winners of the Spice & Heat Challenge... Team Belfrage.”

The sisters squeal and fall into each other's arms. Socorra actually shouts. “YES!”

Andarra laughs openly for the first time all season as they turn and turn.

“We did it!”

“We did,” Andarra says warmly.

Henrik points at them approvingly. “That was the first time you cooked like yourselves instead of like you were defending a thesis.”

Socorra is still grinning wildly.

DeLuca nods enthusiastically. “That dish had soul.”

Chef Voss smiles softly. “Keep cooking like that.”

Across the room, Motyka points dramatically at the judges. “You feared my power.”

Henrik immediately replies, “Not so much your power, more your... choices.”

Solfroy folds her arms. “You nearly dissolved the judging panel.”

“And yet,” Motyka says proudly, “they survived stronger.”

“No,” Henrik says flatly. “I lost sensation in my tongue.”

Davorka laughs so hard she nearly falls over.

Ante quietly mutters, “Worth it.”

Motyka points at him immediately. “HE understands me.”

“No,” Ante replies calmly. “I respect chaos from a distance.”

THE CALL-UP FOR THE FUTURE?
Silvie Grace-Holtzer sat alone in a restaurant, meal on the table somewhat eaten already. This wait was confusing her.

After the NCSO Football Finals, where Trosspine Medical College shockingly triumphed over Luther College of Engineering & Tech, things have been... Weird, to say the least. For starters, the celebrations were great. Being able to see silverware and say, "Yeah, I won that," is a sort of feeling that is difficult to describe. Silvie knows that feeling now though. That trophy was the culmination of the team's efforts, herself included. They fought hard for that trophy, and they deserved to bear the title of champions alongside it.

Secondly, she celebrated with her parents. Silvie had known her mom and dad were watching the match in-person at the stadium during the half-time break. When her dad sent the picture of them being in the stands, it surprised her. She knew her mother wasn't good at travelling, yet she persevered for her. Well, another addition to the list of sacrifices some parents make for their children. They went out and had a family dinner on the more expensive side of Luther, since they could afford it during that moment.

However, her father told her of something significant. Something that would certainly affect her career path for good.

Leonardo Bianchi was a name synonymous with Aphrilian football. He was the man that helped this country win an IAC title and snag two back-to-back Quarterfinals appearance at the World Cup proper. A man who was once replaced for being unable to do his job, he re-invented himself and has created a new form of football, evolving his older tactics.

The name for the newfound tactics he developed for The Anchors was known as Neo-Bianchism. Or Bianchism V2, depending on which person you were asking. Though the general consensus agrees that Neo-Bianchism does sound better despite also sounding like a new, niche political ideology... Which it isn't. Silvie's more on the Neo-Bianchism side.

The reason this is important was because the manager of Aphrilia's national team had personally sent an email to her father, asking for some... Discussions about Silvie's career. And as it turned out, she herself had been sent the same email. It was later that she found what the contents included, asking for a meet-up among other things. After much discussion with her parents, they agreed that Silvie should go alone. Bianchi had clarified he would be with someone familiar. Who, Silvie didn't know.

"It's like... Twelve past fifteen. They should be here any moment." Silvie commented to herself, looking at the clock hung up on the ceiling.

Just a few moments later, the bell chimes as two people walk into the place. Silvie recognizes the man as Bianchi immediately, but not the woman that was accompanying him. There was indeed a sense of familiarity, just like what the message entailed, but where Silvie knows this woman was... Hazy memories at best. It slightly irks her, admittedly.

"Silvie Grace-Holtzer, yes?" Bianchi asks. She answered with a nod but instead of sitting down, the manager decides that he'll have to use the toilet first. What was this, some stupid test on whether she'd be worthy of being on the national team? Well if it is, then she's doing well so far because Silvie had no reaction to it. The woman with him sat down instead.

"It's nice to meet you, Silvie. I'm Amelia Haze." Silvie nods. Amelia Haze, one of the many center backs that the national team called up, a consistent starter whose brain has always been more valued on and off the field, along with the fact that she is considered to be one of the many keys to Aphrilia's success. But admittedly, Silvie hasn't seen her play as much as usual. "Is this meeting for me to be called up for the national team? Seems that obvious, but the message never told me this whole purpose."

Amelia sighs, figuring that they should be forward. Silvie doesn't know what goes on in the brain of probably her favorite player on the national team. "Yes, exactly. In fact... Don't tell anyone this but, you'd be my replacement specifically." Amelia's words were a shock for Silvie. Retirement? Why? "You still have plenty of years, no? Why retire?" The younger girl asked.

Amelia's answer was not something Silvie had expected. The woman who felt so familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, the brain of the team (Besides management of course), her favorite footballer, had an answer that was... Sad in tone. "You know how we Aphrilians are immortal to time. Despite that, our bodies are still as mortal as any other individual. My body is failing me, Silvie, simple as that. Loss of breath, exhaustion, shaking legs, the sort." There was a pause in her words, as if thinking how to summarize it all.

"I'm retiring after the next Independents, for a job on the national team staff. I want you to be my successor." Amelia finished. Silvie was at a loss for words.

Not that she was speaking much throughout this meeting anyway. Yes, all that Amelia had said was true. But Silvie's thoughts were conflicted. The one footballer she idolized was choosing her to be her successor. Her first thought when Amelia told her name was to jump up and fangirl, but she kept it down because this was meant to be a more professional sort of thing. And now she hears from her idol directly about retirement from actively playing football. Silvie will have to sort those thoughts later though.

"Why me? Why not anyone on the U21? Why not someone who is already playing professionally? I'm... Still a college student, despite what the team achieved." This was her first thought. Silvie knew there were many others perhaps more worthy of inheriting Amelia Haze's legacy. But instead, the player had chosen her directly. There were other weird things.

Like how Amelia was so casual with her. Sure, perhaps the two are both footballers. They play the same position, both are known to be individuals that use their intellect when they're on the field. But beyond that, they should just be associates. Yet Amelia was speaking to her as if they had met before. But as if Amelia knew she was thinking so hard about something, she broke the ice. "Remember that day? Alone on an empty, snowy field, I saw a girl playing all by herself. A girl I had a feeling was destined to play."

Silvie looked directly at Amelia, remembering that day now it had been mentioned. There it was, the familiarity that had confused her. This was the end point to start something new.
"...I'll never trust the same, I'll see friendship as just another game...! Full of winners and losers, selfish abusers... You failed to fly but somehow I’m to blame...!?"

Beyond a Good Sign

“[...]this is our opportunity to get out of it, and this team is more than ready for it.”

Fans of this squad had a lot of trouble believing the words Melissa Carey spoke at the team’s last press conference. Things weren’t meaningfully changing in terms of results, nor were there any signs that anything was about to meaningfully change. A home match against Xanneria, another team currently struggling in the middle of the table, wasn’t really going to change any of that. It would neither be an important win nor the away points this team desperately craved.

However, this team was about to find a different way to turn this match into a momentum changer…

“And Forsen takes a beautiful shot, and that’s gonna go right past the Xannerian keeper, 1-0!”
“Wow, that was a quick opening, it hasn’t even been 6 minutes yet!”

“Young brings it up to Forsen, he drops it back to Young, to Cromlin, to Meilling, and HE’S GONNA SHOOT FROM FAR, IT’S IN, 2-0!”

Within 14 minutes, the score was already 2-0. Something was happening in this match that wasn’t happening in any of the others the Owls had played so far. This was a team possessed, ready to take on absolutely anyone and anything the Xannerian squad could throw at them… and they wouldn’t let up for a second.

The rest of the first half was relatively slow, as the Maroons realized that trying to attack a team playing this aggressively wasn’t going to cut it. They started to drop back and play more defensively, but this defensive strategy could only work for so long as the Owls continued pressuring as hard as they possibly could.

“The officials have called for 3 minutes of stoppage time, one last chance to see if the Eshians can break through and basically end this game before it’s even half-over…”
“Come on now Karsten, we can’t be counting our chickens before they hatch.”
“Daniels to Cromlin, Cromlin up to Davis, he’s looking to find his opening…”
“Wait, Sandrie has an opening!”
“Davis makes the pass…”
“Sandrie takes the shot AND IT’S GOOD! 3-0!”

The Xannerian defense finally broke after 32 minutes of fighting tooth and nail to keep the score low. While halftime gave them some short rest to prepare their battle plans for the rest of the match, things didn’t go nearly as well for them as exhaustion started to kick in.

“And Forsen makes it 4-0!”
“Young’s shot is good, 5-0!”
“And Sandrie’s penalty kick makes it 6-0…”
“HAT TRICK FOR KEIAR FORSEN! 7-0!!”

“IN THE DYING MINUTES, WILL SANDRIE ADDS THIS GAME’S SECOND HAT TRICK, 8-0!”
“This is tied for the most goals ever scored by the Owls in an official match…”

The Maroons were broken. Eshialand had figured out exactly how to get past them, and they put 8 past them in total. Not only was this in fact tied for the most goals they ever scored, but it was 2 goals past the most they ever had in a clean sheet, and also 2 past the highest margin of victory they had ever recorded.

Although winning at home was very much the status quo, a win this big very much wasn’t. When the team’s manager said that they were ready to get out of the rut they had been in, this was exactly what she meant. The real test, however, would come away in the Allamunnic States, where the quest to not drop points away against Slushier Pot teams would continue.

The momentum they built up in their home match, for once, would not let up. While playing on their opponents’ home ground naturally meant that things would be a little more subdued than they were in the previous match, Lani Garrett didn’t let anything slip by her and the goal support the Owls were able to give her was more than enough. The final score? Eshialand 3, Allamunnic States 0.

This win was exactly what the doctor ordered. All confidence in the Owls’ ability to perform was back as they barreled towards the midway point of qualifying, which would be marked by a two match homestand against Sudilia and Lisander, who both exactly matched Eshialand’s 5-0-3 record in the campaign so far.

“These are difficult teams, that goes without saying,” Mel Carey said in the post-match presser, “but we’ve had the home performances, and most importantly now we have the momentum. We can’t let up now, and I have full faith in this team’s ability to get it done. We’re only halfway done, it’s time to wipe our slow start away and focus on what’s coming next.”
Anything I say is IC unless proven otherwise by a court of law.

World Cup 101 Qualifiers Game 7: Quakmybush 0-3 Chromatika
Goals: Jean-Baptiste 15', Oriol 31', Lee 71'
Starting XI: Swanson (C); Lehmann - Han Cunningham - Ataciara; Oriol - Holgersson - Lee - Mátyás; Þyrill; Jean-Baptiste - Baïe-Verte.
Substitutes: Nana -> Han Cunningham (60'), Hrönn -> Holgersson (60'), Mesic-Mizayaki -> Þyrill (79'), Panaś -> Mátyás (79'), Heimdell -> Baïe-Verte (86')
Summary: For the first time in a long while, the Anomalies practiced going into a 4-4-2 after taking a 2-0 lead into halftime, with Nana and Hrönn Sæsdóttir coming in to play the two central defenders and the midfielders moving to the center. They did all right after the shift, scoring the third goal off of the left foot of Lee Hyun-Seol as the reserves made short work of Quakmybush on the road. This was the very reason that the Sæsdóttir twins were brought onto the team, and the team didn't look half bad running the formation. If it's needed, it will be in their back pocket.
World Cup 101 Qualifiers Game 8: Chromatika 2-1 The Republic of the United Marble Tribes
Goals: Jean-Baptiste 41', 83'
Starting XI: Swanson (C); Lehmann - Han Cunningham - Ataciara; Oriol - Holgersson - Lee - Mátyás; Þyrill; Jean-Baptiste - Baïe-Verte.
Substitutes: Karjalainen -> Lee (58'), Bittencourt -> Baïe-Verte (58'), Sullivan -> Oriol (75'), Vallaki -> Holgersson (75'), Prenn -> Þyrill (82')
Summary: Kaytlyn Jean-Baptiste completed her brace late in the game to keep the Anomalies perfect on the qualifying cycle with eighteen points out of eighteen, having some issue with The Republic of the United Marble Tribes.
World Cup 101 Qualifiers Games 9 and 10: @ (395) Serenitas Novae, vs. (88) Stewartika
Starting XI: Swanson (C); Lehmann - Han Cunningham - Ataciara; Oriol - Holgersson - Lee - Mátyás; Þyrill; Jean-Baptiste - Baïe-Verte.
Substitutes: GK Jessika Aniston, GK Hear Courtois, DCR Caro Theirs, DC Nana Sæsdóttir, DC Hrönn Sæsdóttir, DCR Ineke Van der Plas Bouwmeester, WBR Lily Sullivan, WBL Róża Panaś, CDM Valentina Vallaki, DLP Alija Mesic-Mizayaki, AP Linnea Karjalainen, AM Maddie Prenn, AF Adélaïde Bittencourt, CF Jack Heimdell, AF Elaine Howard-Dawes
Preview: Still only six points clear of second place with Valentine Z also winning their matches, the Anomalies will field their reserves for two more matches before taking on The Ko-orenite Constellation, TJUN-ia, and Valentine Z in the next four matches. Jill Swanson has proven to be a good keeper, and the team is playing well even with the added pressure of success. Long may their form continue.

The state of amateur football.

Unbeknownst to the casual fan, there are more than just the sixty-four teams in the Rainbow League System - Sixteen each in the Red, Orange, Yellow, and Green Leagues. There are four levels of Regional Leagues below that - separated into the Eastern, Western, Island, and Capital Leagues. It is in the bottom tier of those Regional Leagues - the Fourth Division, effectively the eighth tier of Chromatik football - that trouble is starting to brew.

For the last three seasons, the Rainbow League System, sponsored by the Chromatik Football Federation, has had to provide financial support to ten clubs in the fourth level of the Regional Leagues to keep them afloat. Without equally sized divisions/leagues, competition is irregular - which isn't good for anyone. With the understanding that a lot of the issues are due to the pocket dimension/plane experience and the political turmoil, the bigwigs of Chromatik football were willing to part with the few hundred thousand NMS that would take to keep the smaller clubs afloat.

No longer. The Rainbow League System has announced that in order to qualify for the financial surplus program, each team would have to show sufficient proof that they are in the process of getting back on the green. As Chromatika adjusts to existence within the pocket dimension/plane, it's not just up to individuals to get used to living in the new reality - organizations must as well, and they were done being just a free supplier to those not willing to do the work.

What will they do if teams actually fall defunct? The CFF is optimistic that there are other investors that are just looking for an opportunity to get into Chromatik football - even if it's at the eighth level. Football is by far the biggest, most popular, and most lucrative sport in the country, and with the impact that sports continues to have on the Chromatik psyche, especially in terms of national community, national spirit, and just the Chromatk way of life, it makes sense to assume that things will take care of themselves to a certain point.

If that falters, though, Chromatik football will start to crumble at its most base layer, the player base where everyone is an amateur just enjoying playing the game, with couple diamonds in the rough starting to get noticed by better teams with the potential of becoming the next player to somehow crack the Green League. Such players may never get the international nor national accolades of established stars, but they are known locally as heroes that have made many a weekend more enjoyable with their ability of play.

Chromatika doesn't want to become a country that just has professional teams in football - though it remains the only sport in the country to work that way, as all others have a set professional structure. If they are to keep the novelty of amateur football though, they'll have to keep it alive.

Whether they will be able to or not may have far-reaching consequences to the Chromatik people at large, and the country as a whole.

"Wow!"

"What"

"We got a result against Valanora!"

"What?!"

"Exactly"

"When was the last time that happened?"

"Almost certainly before anybody on the squad was born and most of Milchama was born"

"That's crazy"

"It's nuts, we don't get results against the Elves"

"They're nickname is the Marauders"

"I know but they are still Elves"

"Only some of them"

"As long as Laborious Hawk is on the team, Elves"

"I guess"

"So we tied the Elves!:

"Marauders"

"Them too!"

"So what's next?"

"Well we'll miss the next cutoff and work from there"

"Why are we missing the next cut off?"

"Mostly because we forgot to write on Saturday and Sunday got busy"

"Really?"

"Yeah, we kinda had to write tonight because tomorrow we're seeing the game and it's a whole thing"

"Which game?"

"Do you think I'll give away my positionality in a public place like this?"

"No, I guess not"

"Though I do need to tell you something to abruptly change the subject"

"Oh what is that?"

"It turns out Frayston is real"

"Really?"

"Yeah they just spell their name ridiculously stupidly so you can never find them"

"How dumb could it be?"

"Frayst0n"

"Oh my god, there's a number in the name, is it a bad metalcore band from the 2000s?"

"Possibly"

"Or some mediocre indie band trying to do SEO?"

"Chrvches is good!"

"Yes but they are still pronounced with the weird V and that's weird"

"Also Alvvays, who are also good, but have the weird vv thing"

"Consummate!"

"Irrelevant"

"What music do you think they listen to in Frayst0n?"

"I assume Attack Attack"

"Not 311?"

"Maybe them too or like Twenty One Pilots"

"Spell it write, 21 Pilots"

"I think they like the whole word spelled out"

"This argument doesn't make sense in what is technically an oral medium that we should be communicating in"

"Eh, we've broken the 4th wall so many times during this RP that doesn't matter anymore"

"Fair enough"

"What about 2 Chainz?"

"That could work also"

"That's pretty eclectic taste"

"I mean it's a whole nation, do you think a nation can survive on metalcore alone?"

"Tikariot does"

"No, it's all metal which is a pretty diverse genre"

"Do you think Tikariot ballads are just folk metal songs that are kinda slow?"

"Probably"

"That sounds awesome"

"Yeah, I mean we have klezmer music that goes top 40 so we really shouldn't complain"

"Sure but most of the big songs all sound like Hotelier knock offs"

"Either that or ridiculous story songs"

"Yep"

"Weren't we discussing football?"

"Meh, music is cool too"

"True"

"Very true"

Somewhere Near the Imperial Hippodrome...

Juan Tzimisces looked out of the window of his office with something resembling wistfulness. Down below on the training pitch, Simeone was attempting to drill into the shoggoths the need to not grow any more spur-of-the-moment pseudopods while defending in the penalty area, and the need to keep any existing pseudpods placed above human waist level behind them. This was going about as well as expected, with the squad seemingly incapable of controlling their urge to grow random limbs, teeth, and eyes at random. No wonder the Elder Things had ultimately been incapable of controlling them back in the day.

He went back to his paperwork. The Holy Empire Football Association was undertaking a review of the disastrous qualifying campaign before the midway points of qualifying had even been reached. After the first two encouraging victories, the Empire had gone 1-1-4, with some of those losses startling in any context; alright, so the Tikariot result could have been anticipated, but some of those other results... the 6-5 loss to Myrtle Beach particularly rankled, even if it had taken a particularly incompetent referee to award those four penalties to the opponents. But to be mired in fifth in the group, nine points behind second-placed Kanzlia, after only eight matches... Tzimisces had been through a lot over the last 100 world cups, but this somehow seemed ... different.

HEFA officials were proposing several reasons for the team's current predicament. The suggestions were about as useful as you might expect from a group of Imperial bureaucrats with little experience of Ordinary Reality.

1) Tzimisces should patch up his rift with his old flame Margaret: An absolute non-starter. Mags was an amazing female anthropomorphic personification of a concept, but it simply didn't work when one anthropomorphic personification of a concept tried to maintain a relationship with another anthropomorphic personification of a concept. Billions died across the multiverse the last time they were together; when he said that Maggie was a 'bitch who could only be bedded on a mattress of corpses', for some reason the mundies thought he meant it metaphorically. Anyway, he didn't want that on his conscience again. Anyway, Madge had promised when they were splitting that she wouldn't let their past impact her approach to imperial football matches - she would treat the Empire just like any other team - and whatever her faults, she was an anthropomorphic personification of a concept who kept her word.

2) A temporary excess of RPnin, that mysterious force that bound the multiverse together: While Tzimisces had some sympathy for this perspective - remembering that some realities spelled the name of the force somewhat differently - he was loathe to blame the principle. True, RPnin seemed to be going through one of its occasional periods of waxing in strength, and impacting the current World Cup more than had been the case for many a tournament, and it was also true that its influence would always be somewhat subjective - imperial oneirologists described it as being akin to Ordinary Reality quantum physics in that while you knew RPnin had an impact, it would always be unclear to what extent an influx or dearth of RPnin was impacting specific events - but at the same time all participating teams faced the same impacts of RPnin. And besides, the Dreamed Realm existed outside the multiverse, so it was hardly as if the current excess of RPnin could be impacting the Holy Empire's home matches ... could it?

3) Referee bias against the five-time champions: This was silly. That referees were unfamiliar with shoggoths, that inexperienced referees were clearly making mistakes when faced with a team of shoggoths, did not mean that referees were biased against shoggoths; or the Holy Empire more broadly. They simply needed to be better briefed. That said, it was disappointing that the refereeing committee had failed to respond to the two letters HEFA had written on the subject.

4) Failure of other teams to engage with the shoggoths: An unhinged and deeply unserious suggestion. While it was disappointing on some level that other nations' media reports seemed oblivious to the nature of the Holy Empire's squad, a more positive interpretation was that mundies were now so used to Holy Empire teams - not that those teams were in any way unusual from the perspective of the Dreamed Realm - that a squad of shoggoths was simply accepted as no more unusual that past imperial squads. What were shoggoths, after all, compared to Mexican jumping beans or bloodthirsty fluffy bunnies? Perhaps Holy Empire squads had simply become normalised for Ordinary Reality.

5) The impending collapse of Ordinary Reality: Tzimisces sighed. Even if he accepted that time needed to be linear for the purposes of World Cup dating, the end of the multiverse was still at least 750 World Cups away; this might be a blink of the eye to a Dreamed Realm bureaucrat unused to linear time, but it was an eternity for mundies. There was nothing 'impending' about it.

Totally absent from the document was any sense that maybe, just maybe, asking Tzimisces to field a team of sentient entities utterly unsuited for football, and who were virtually incapable of communicating with other sentient entities beyond their occasional screams of 'tekeli-li!' was perhaps more than a little misguided.

Who knows, perhaps one day HEFA would actually allow him to pick a squad himself, rather than insisting that he simply try and manage a squad randomly picked by a bunch of bureaucrats on some random whim, irrespective of whether or not the squad could actually play football.

But he wasn't going to hold his breath.

And the Emus’ purple patch in World Cup 101’s qualifiers has finally come to an end, as the fourth window had two rough results that made us fall from first to fourth in group 2. First, we had a 1-1 draw with Vdara. The Vdarans got up early with a 28th minute strike by Sophia Kyprianou that, basically from the moment Sapphira Mariou crossed the ball to her, was a certainty to go in. You could see the inevitability of that goal in the Emus’ eyes. Ryan Reuqa had no chance of saving that rocket of a goal. So, the Emus moved into attack mode very quickly afterwards, in order to search for an equaliser. They got that equaliser shortly after halftime, when Ella Vidya converted a spot-kick, after Ali Are was injured by a poor slide tackle from Grazzja Le Brun. Then....nothing. The Vdarans and Emus pushed at each other both ways over the next half hour but neither side could get the elusive winner they so dearly desired. So...we split the honours and move on to the real problem game. The 2-1 defeat to Estorvipa and Estorpiva.

Yeah, so it wasn't good from the start. Bohdan Tatulyan scored in the 12th minute for the Estorians, after sloppy defending allowed him to break away from Lara Jraena, receive a long ball of the boot of Larisa Olefirenko, and then he finished the job and put the Estorians up 1-0. A second goal followed shortly before halftime, when Kostyantyn Zazroyev headed in a corner, narrowly beating a pack of Roosians to send it into the back of the net, and we went to the break 2-0 down. Great.
The second half looked more optimistic though. After pushing and pushing, about 20 minutes into the second half, Alana Kerr managed to break away from her marker in the final third and got possession, before striking a screamer into the top right corner of the net. But, that wasn't enough. To even salvage a point from this, the Emus needed a second. But, the Estorians seemed to be hell-bent on not letting that happen. So the Emus supporters were thrilled, when in the 87th minute, debutant Eva Ngadjuri seemed to have secured a goal that would've kept the side's unbeaten start to qualifiers intact. However, VAR had other ideas. It turned out that Ngadjuri was marginally offside when Selene Sopa passed her the ball and started the scoring play. and so, the Emus go into Window 5 with a video-created injustice that will hopefully end up being only low point of the qualifiers for the Roosians.

It's not too hard to sell out a stadium in Reçueçn, a small nation whose venues are dwarfed by some of the arenas found in other parts of the multiverse. But still there was something special about the crowd that gathered at the Stade National for Les Licornes' game against Kwrpania. Since the two sides comprised the top two seeds of their qualification group, the stakes were high.

Reçueçn had taken an early lead in the standings when the Eels lost their road opener against Bhumi Matawis' White Tiger team. The ÉNRF failed to find wins against Taeshan or Eastfield Lodge, but remained undefeated through the first six matchdays of qualifying. Reçueçn's undefeated streak spanned 18 games—the IAC, four friendlies, and the beginning of qualifying—with the last time the team lost being its elimination in World Cup 100's round of thirty-two. The draw against Eastfield Lodge meant Reçueçn lost its spot atop group 13 that it had taken on matchday 5 after just one game, but EFL had conveniently won against the Eels the match before, meaning Reçueçn was still two points ahead of Kwrpania going into the two top-seeds' match against each other.

A win at home would be Les Licornes' best chance to strike a blow to win the group, so the fans were keyed up as they waited for the game to start. A loss would put the Eels ahead of the ÉNRF and probably condemn Reçueçn to second place, at best. Win or lose, the result would be decisive (while of course a draw wouldn't be great for either team). As the fans who'd been able to get tickets for the sold-out event filed into the stadium, large crowds of even more supporters gathered outside the Stade National to watch the game on the large screens set up outside. Fans drank, danced, chanted and sang. Sure, it was just a qualifying game, but Kwrpania was a top-ten team, and this was Reçuecians' chance to see world-class soccer in their own nation.

The whistle blew and the clash began. Kwrpan soccer was the antithesis of the Reçuecian game—while the home team was cautious and defensive, the Eels were fast, and constantly on the attack. The ÉNRF found itself immediately on the back foot, trying to close off space, break up possession, and slow down the pace of the game. Parking the bus had always been the goal, but Reçueçn hadn't been prepared for the Kwrpan tempo, and the defense began to look increasingly desperate.

It was just 24 minutes before Magnws-rym chipped in the first goal for the Eels, tidily lofting the ball over a leaping Streuli. The stadium, packed with Reçuecian fans and only a handful of Kwrpan supporters, groaned collectively as the ball dipped into the far corner, away from Ziswiler, diving, wrong-footed, and trying somehow to change her momentum in midair.

Les Licornes, however, would find their answer in stoppage time just before the half, with Konig intercepting a pass Pabofen-nam sent forward into space. Konig threaded the ball to Asselineau, who ran down the field on a breakaway, proving that some Reçuecians, at least, could keep up with the Eels' pace. Fakswr-rof came out of the net to cut off Asselineau's shot, but she fired through his legs to find the back of the goal.

The mood was tense at half-time. Héloïse's goal just before the whistle had lifted spirts somewhat, but it was clear that the Eels were outplaying Les Licornes. While coach LeBouffe gave his team hushed, earnest tactical instruction, trying to brainstorm how to rebuild the defense, the fans in the stands above fretted.

The Reçuecians kicked off the second half with the ball, but Vabwpetob-zok promptly dispossessed Théophile Theriault, and within three minutes, Kwrpania had scored again to take the lead 2-1. The TV cameras showed LeBouffe on the sidelines, holding his head in his hands. His fears were being confirmed. The équipe nationale simply couldn't keep up with its opponents.

Reçueçn was losing. Something needed to change. It was time for a big strategic move. LeBouffe made a sign to the fourth official—he wanted to make a change. The fans watched as the referee held up the sign with a red 21 and a green 13, to take off Lauretta Giordano, the center forward, and put on Blaise Gauthier—a sweeper.

The Reçuecian fans took this in stride. Doubling down on the defense while already losing the game didn't seem to surprise them in the slightest, even if it was certainly a strategic choice no opponent would have predicted. The play was true to Reçueçn's roots, straight out of page one of the ÉNRF playbook. The "Çuecian Swap," TV announcers in other countries were calling it. Taking off a forward and putting on a defender, all while down by a goal or more—surely, no other team in the multiverse was more committed to parking the bus.

Yet from the Reçuecian point of view the logic made sense. The Electric Eels were still outpacing Les Licornes, dominating possession, finding dangerous space, and creating threats. How could the ÉNRF hope to get back into the game if it couldn't even shore up its strongest facet, its defense? Before Reçueçn could hope to score a goal, it first had to regain control of the tempo, settle things down, catch its breath, and eliminate any threat to its own goal. The Kwrpans could do nothing but watch in disbelief as Gauthier came onto the field, yelling out instructions LeBouffe had given him to pass on, and then the Reçuecians finally retook possession and began to run down the clock—all while losing 2-1.

Les Licornes were essentially playing a 6-2-2. At last they were able to set the pace of the game—and it crawled, dragging itself on hands and knees while the few neutral and Kwrpan fans who were in attendance booed at the snooze-fest. The Reçuecians passed the ball around among themselves, sometimes tentatively venturing into the midfield, but always hastening back to safety at the first sign of pressure from the Eels.

Finally, in the 67th minute, (haha! 67! you seriously can't make ts up) Laurent Lapix was able to work some magic. The ÉNRF captain, known for his tactical clairvoyance, orchestrated a beautiful back-and-forth with Theriault to pass the ball up through the midfield and attack the Kwrpanian half for what felt like the first time. Lapix dodged traffic masterfully and at the last moment when it seemed too late, got rid of the ball to Ravenna Cocci, who simply tapped it in. The fans were all on their feet, cheering. Cocci ran to Lapix to hug him, and the rest of the team swarmed them to congratulate them. Cocci took Lapix' wrist and held his fist in the air like a winning boxer, thanking him for the assist. As the team walked back to the center line for kick-off, there was a new bounce in their step, and something in the stadium's atmosphere had changed; for the first time, the fans were wondering if Reçueçn could actually win.

There were twenty minutes to go. A quarter of an hour went by. The équipe nationale seemed content to keep defending—LeBouffe had clearly instructed them that since they were ahead in the standings, a draw was a fine result. No sense risking everything for a little glory, especially not against a team that had made it to the semis of the multiverse's largest-ever World Cup a year and a half ago.

But caution wouldn't be enough. Despite Les Licornes' best efforts, the Eels were still... well, just better. A long shot from Vabwpetob-zok, 26 yards out, made the score 3-2 with just four minutes left in regulation time. Immediately, the attitude in the crowd deflated. It had been a hard-fought, back-and-forth game, but the result was going to be a loss. No exciting upset for the underdog, no more Reçueçn at the top of the table—just mediocrity.

After the game, LeBouffe tried to encourage his players. He gathered them all in the locker room, along with Rébecca Firaut, who had attended the game despite her injury to watch the team play.

"I know that was a frustrating loss," the manager said. "But you should be proud of yourselves. We did our best. We learned how they play. Next time we go up against them, we'll be ready—even if it has to be in their stadium. We still have more than half of our qualifying games ahead of us, and we can still qualify from second place. I don't want you to walk away with nothing but the feeling of losing. I want you to walk away from this with a lesson learned, and next time, be ready to win."

The Robin Franz Papers - Document #5
In which Otto and Robin attempt to be invited into the Katzeburgian Royal Court...

In all my years spending time with Otto, the numbers of plans and schemes we attempted to be invited into the Royal Court was almost immeasurable. Even now, as I sit down to remember some of these plans, there are too many for me to name and go into detail about because I simply cannot remember the vast majority of them.

So the next few writings which follow is merely an attempt to highlight some of the plans which I can only remember minute details of, in the hopes of sparking my own brain enough that I can recall some of the more important plans to get us into the Royal Court that Otto and I worked on over all these years.

The 'Tre! Buchet' Plan - about two city blocks south of the Royal Court is a small green parkland which is often dallied about in by a number of highborns and those looking to spend some time away from the hard toils of that day's labour. The plan was to bring a trebuchet to the park with a view of firing myself and Otto onto the roof of the Royal Court for that evening's performances, where we could then sneak down into the building itself. Abandoned after initial tests for accuracy saw a number of pumpkins destroyed due to hitting things at great speed and a final test accidentally sparking the Great Fire of Katzestadt.

The 'Kaiser's Proclamation' Plan - there are numerous times of the year when the Kaiser would declare of a certain list of people to be invited into the Royal Court for an evening, most often those highborns displaced from wherever the royal army was fighting that month. Our plan was to dress Otto up as the fictional highborn Rhys Fishfinger of Ynysgard and we make a big song and dance about his arrival along with a falsified proclamation from the Kaiser stating that we were to be allowed entry due to the ongoing battles in the Katzeburgian Sea. Ultimately was quite similar to a plan we had done earlier and fell apart once the guards realised we were using a false document and that in fact the Kaiser was in the Royal Court that evening and had never heard of a Fishfinger family.

The 'Taster by Royal Decree' Plan - The Royal Court often sourced a majority of its beers from local breweries and pubs around Katzestadt, with these brought in on a regular basis to satiate the evening crowd. However, they did no quality control checks on the beer being brought in - which resulted in one batch poisoning a number of guests the week before our plan when it turned out the beers from Ratpiss Brewery turned out to live up to its namesake. We would approach the guards stating that we were sent by the Kaiser to serve as royal beer testers for that evening, upon which being granted entry we would abandon our jobs and sneak into the main area. This plan failed after learning mid-beer that Otto had a very significant allergy to hops.

The 'Demon Remover' Plan - During one of our regular dalliances to the Katzestadt Library (often to research various things to settle arguments we would have during the day), we came across an old document which suggested that the Royal Court had been buried atop a former plague pit in central Katzestadt. And thus a plan was formed. We arrived at the Court dressed as traditional demon remover specialists, and told the guards at the front that we had been ordered to attend by the Kaiser as the Royal Court was haunted and we were there to provide some sort of ghost busting service. Ultimately failed when upon being led down into the Court's basement, Otto got too scared to continue and instead begged to be removed from the building.

The 'Bear-y Musical' Plan - After coming across a huge bear rug for sale at the local market one afternoon, a plan clear as day formed in Otto's head to use it to get into the Royal Court. His plan was a simple one on parchment - use the rug to dress as a bear and then have me lead him to the Court to and attempt to get in by saying the bear, which could play the harpsicord (despite the fact Otto doesn't have a musical bone in his body), was that evening's main attraction. This one did initially work, as the guards let us through the doors - only for it to quickly fall apart as the rug (now known to be several dogs glued together to look like a bear) disintegrated as we entered, leaving Otto bare-naked as he had taken all his clothes off because of the heat of wearing the rug. What he would have done had the plan been successful of course, remains unknown to me even now.

Win in Libesia not enough to arrest Katzeburgian collapse following government ruling

By Otis Huffman, KBC

Despite having extended their unbeaten streak to four games, four points split across Nusandara and Libesia hasn't been enough for Katzeburg to retain ground on the runaway group leaders in the World Cup 101 qualifiers.

In the first two games to be played following the delivery of the findings from the Katzeburgian Committee on Sporting Achievement and Infrastructure Development, Katzeburg laboured to a 0-0 draw at Maplewood Park against a hugely unfavoured Nusandara side, failing to walk away with a goal on home turf for the first time since a 1-0 loss to West Barack and East Obama back at the tailend of the World Cup 99 qualification campaign. The Blue Cats dominated play but found themselves unable to find a much needed winner, with substitute Walton Hershey coming the closest to snatching a dramatic goal in the 87th minute after his effort from the edge of the box ricocheted off the crossbar and bounced back off the goal line.

With runaway group leaders Bonusia and Aphrilia furthering their automatic spot leads, Katzeburg headed to Libesia needing all three points to keep their rapidly fading campaign from crashing and burning as the campaign reaches the halfway mark - and thankfully, the side delivered.

Meriel Arkwright opened the scoring for the Blue Cats away from home in the 29th minute with a pinpoint shot into the bottom left corner from range, catching out Thusego Mothanka in goals who failed to cover the shot in time. It would be the only goal of a temperate first half, as fouls steadily continued to climb from both sides within the opening 45 minutes. But it would be the hosts who would swing out of the half time break on top, and Libesia would be rewarded for their period of dominance with an equalizer in the 63rd minute - Mikhail Tsekani cutting between Cale Fux and Laurence Herman in the backline to curl their effort around Ry Whinery and tie the game up at 1-1.

The goal would serve as a sucker punch for the visiting Katzeburgians, and it - along with some timely substititions from manager Becka Haberkorn - would shake the Blue Cats back to life; restricting play down the wings from the Cheetahs and sneaking in behind the backline with probing through balls. This change in structure and approach would pay huge dividends in the 84th minute, as Leith Coburn nabbed a goal from the bench after being on the receiving end of a Serena Plank longball - cutting behind the backline and thundering a shot past Mothanka to restore Katzeburg's lead. The Blue Cats would hold their nerve to the final whistle from there - a massive victory which many are hoping can spark a revival to the side's fortunes as they approach the second half of the qualifying campaign.

"It can't be understated just how huge that goal will be in our campaign," Haberkorn told media after the game. "To go to another country, no matter how far down the rankings they are, and pick up all three points is a massive success and a huge boost to squad morale and I'm proud of the team for going out and refusing to lay down after that equalizer - they showed the mettle we need to really fight for our spot over the rest of the campaign.

"It's a really tough spot that we are in at the moment following the handing down of those findings from the committee - and while I personally agree that a lot of the recommendations are going to reshape Katzeburgian football for the better, you'd understand that we are in a bit of a perilous situation. Depending on how the vote itself could go, we could lose all funding and the setup could collapse overnight as the powers that be decide we need to scrap it and start from the beginning once more. All we can do as a team - and this is what I'm telling our players in that locker room - is to keep performing as good as we know we can be and keep picking up those wins. If it all collapses around our ears, we at least know that we've put in the best effort we could."

Katzeburg have a golden chance to close the gap at the top of group 14 in the next two fixtures, as the side returns to Katzeburg for both games - hosting an out of form Beal an Mhuirthead at Maplewood Park before taking on Aphrilia at Katzestadt Arena, a game where the Blue Cats need to try and steal a win against the highly ranked side to have any hope of catching up to an automatic qualification spot - anything less will represent a ceiling of a playoff appearance at best.

It comes in three's 2
Lisander 2-0 Saperetia

After suffering back-to-back losses, Silivia is looking to restart the momentum of this team with hopefully a result against the next team. If there is any time to do that, it seems to be now, as we go against Lisander and Dantopia in the next two match days, the closest-ranked opponents to us with the former being twelve ranks and two seeds behind us, with us both being the higher seeds of pot 6, and tge latter being 30 ranks and nine seeds ahead, being the absolute bottom of pot 5. Bringing home results against two similar teams to us would show our players (and fans) that we can do it. It is with this mindset that the SAP 4-3-3 lined up against the LIS 4-3-3:

Saperetia: GK Hranislav (C) DEF Abdelkader, Carloza, Damjan, Anatoliv, Simmage MID Gil, Inget, Camilo ATK Jacques, Seppel, Seppo

Lisander: GK Michaelichen DEF Kaplanoski, Rosell, Valens, Florian MID Camden, Neville (C), Nantel ATK Hiltmann, Artemon, Brax

Despite being close in rank, the match began very one-sided with the Lisander side heavy on the attack with the Saperetian players finding themselves on the defense, this owing to the different playstyles of the two teams. For a while, none of the Lisander players managed to find a way to get an attempt on goal, while none of the Saperetian players headed for an attack. This was the state for the entire first half with there being only a few accurate attempts between both teams, and both headed into the locker rooms dissatisfied with the state of things. Both Silivia and Navarre used the break to try and get their players focused and to set up the second half in their favour. This seemingly worked for the home side as a pass by Camden sent Artemon free, who hit a shot over the lone goalkeeper to give the lead to the home side just a quarter after the game resumed. Just six minites later, from a Lisander corner, this lead would be extended as a missed header had the ball fall into the mix of players from where Neville would hit it through everyone and into the net. The home side attempted to press their momentum from these two strikes to score even more goals but The Crimsonite defense held out until the finals whistle, the end result a 2-0 victory for the home side.

A third defeat in a row, this time being a bit more lob-sided (two goals compared to two ones), especially against a team closer to our rank comapred to the previous two, is devastating. Instead of pushing to start building momentum, Silivia has to pull this team together, and then head into the next match. Fans have doubts whether he will be able to perform such a feat, but Silivia has at least one believer: himself. He has claimed to the media that he "will do it" and to not give up hope. Fans hope that the results will reflect this mentality in the upcoming games.

It comes in three's 3
Saperetia 3-3 Dantopia

In preparation for this match, Silivia has worked in an attempt to keep this team together and to prevent it from falling apart even further. In this match, he will have the support of the home crowd behind him as we host Dantopia at the nationals ground. Perhaps, with enough fans making enough noise the skill deficit of this team can be overcome. And if it was dependent on the fans, we would have a great chance as they roaded loud when the SAP 4-3-3 lined up against the DAN 4-3-3:

Saperetia: GK Hranislav (C) DEF O'Connel, Carloza, Damjan, Simmage MID Hardin, Inget, Shah ATK Jacques, Seppel, Seppo

Dantopia: GK Bullvale DEF O'Higgins, Robinson-Tate, Foster, Kahananui MID Young, Opetaia, Bing ATK Adeyemi (C), Edwards, Thomas

Both sides began the match relatively passively, not wanting to risk an opposing counterattack and potential goal. Urged on by the crowd, The Crimsonite attack made some attampts on goal in the first quarter, but none managed to find the net until an attack in the 22nd minute from Hardin and Inget on the left sent a cross to Seppel's head, which was knocked down and around Bullvale to give the home side the lead for the first time in three match days. This lead lasted for only a short while as just three minutes later a free kick just outside the penalty area was sent over Hranislav and into the goal by Opetaia, leveling the score. Before the end of the half, another solo attack by Edwards saw him bring himself 1-on-1 with Hranislav, which the goalkeeper had no way of stopping, gicing the visitors the lead. The remaining 5 minutes in the half were marked by an unwillingness from either team to risk conceding another goal, and the three minutes of injury time seemed to go down a similar path, until again Edwards was brought 1-on-1 by a pass to pass all defenders and get the ball past Hranislav, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead in the last minute before the whistle ro end the helf blew. Both teams headed into the locker room, one retreating, the other walking confidently. And while Silivia is known for his disasterous team talks, this time he seemed to get the hang of them as just 6 minutes into the new half, during a seemingly routine attack, Jaques shot a cannonball over everyone into the inside side netting, cutting the deficit in half. The seemingly reinvigorated crimson team wanted to continue pressing their momentum, but they lacked the experience to do this, and the match turned into box-to-box action, with both team tiring themselves out. By this point, fans of both sides had given up hipe of any action until a free kick quickly taken by Shah equalized the score 4 minutes before the end, a score on whcih the match would end.

"A draw is better than a loss but worse than a win" said Silivia in the post-match conference. It was true, at least we had a result, but fans would rather have the few recent close matches go our way, and they called on Silivia to focus more on training clutch moments. Silivia did not seem to acknowledge this wish, but instead talked about "[his] method", which the fans pointed out has seemingly not worked well for him so far. The rift between the manager and fans seems to be growing, and we will have to await results to see where it goes.

Changes doing the Job?

Camanin's new changes to the playing eleven seems to be making a difference. Preetham Singh has replaced Jahangir Shehzad as the starter goalkeeper and Lhazang Tsang Po has replaced Akshay Adhaan as a starter defender. Camanin believes that letting them on the bench would help them to train more away from the stress and spotlight. Indusse went on to face Flavovespia in their first match with the change. Expected to be the hardest match in the group stage, Flavovespia is one of the top ranked teams in the world and was expected to be a huge threat to the Flocking Blues.

As the game started, Flavovespia had already begun with their attacking spree. Fans started to doubt whether the changes would cause issues like never. Soon after, Flavovespia scored a goal making sure they get an early lead. There goes the hope for a clean sheet! Now the Flocking Blues had just one aim, make sure you win or at least get Flavovespia caught in a draw. Few minutes into the clock and captain and saviour Mersiás came in with the equalizer off a cross from Grundjee. Even though it was an away match, the stadium had a corner packed with Indussean fans. That goal made that exact portion erupt with joy.

As the game went on for half-time, the team was expected to come back stronger. But within minutes after the game resumed, Flavovespia made their move and increased their lead with a marvellous goal. Now Indussean players were not having it, they tried their best to make the scores level but almost all their attacks were a failure. Soon after the fans started to doubt if the game is going to end this way and suddenly the moment that they were waiting for happened. Djenkzo scores the equalizer from a cross by Djetson at the left corner. How beautifully was the ball trapped and delivered! There it goes a draw in the team's name.

That draw did mean a lot and Indusse was back home for their match against Drawkland. This match also marked the 400th International match for Mathias Paulson who has now equalized the record for most international matches played for Indusse. He shares the record with retired veteran Bechun Butea who is also at 400. Indusse has faced Drawkland twice before and had to accept defeat. The last time Indusse faced Drawkland was during the fifteenth edition of Independents Association Championship and Indusse lost for a score of two goals against three. Now was the time, a time for revenge. Drawkland's squad is here at home, at the prestigious Aditya Varma Kulashekara Stadium and the moment witnessed by thousands and thousands of fans.

Indusse was keen on the revenge, they had to make sure it was properly delivered. From the very beginning they played attacking football. It was a situation of complete chaos, the attackers ran Helter-skelter keeping up with their attacks every minute. Soon the first goal was born at the twenty second minute, from a header by Mersiás. A goal and the stadium erupted with chants! Now things were a bit peaceful for a while and the half time whistle was later blown.

As the game resumed, the fans wanted more action. They wanted a more fancy win and not something with just a goal. I guess Margaret heard the prayers and the second goal was born. Rahul scored the second one with a fantastic bicycle kick and within the next ten minutes Tsang Po got the lead as high as three goals. Sixty minutes were done and a comeback for Drawkland seemed tough and in the seventy nineth minute, Djetson sealed the victory with a chip onto the goal.

The Flame of Hope

Phuentshang Street, around 7:10PM.

Yuko Tanaka did not notice that frost was already beginning to form on his skin due to standing around outside in this cold—but his mind was too preoccupied to pay attention to what in that moment believed to be a mundane worry. His hands trembled as he held the letter in his hands, he could hear his pulse in his throat, racing as if he was running away from a terrifying beast. All his struggles, his family’s struggles, the cruel world he lived in—all of it seemed to vanish in that instant like a distant memory.

“It cannot be real…Is this, for me?”
For all he knew, he was the only “Yuko Tanaka” that lived in Kanazawa. There was only one Tanaka family that was listed in the census reports of the city. This letter could not have been for anyone else but him.

And then, something happened.
For the first time in his life, he felt it. That strange feeling that makes you think that life is still worth living. That feeling which keeps even the most battered soul carry on in the face of even Satan himself. The greatest feeling that man could encounter, that drives away all troubles, resentment, and vitriol. The treasure that Pandora had released upon the world as atonement for her blunder.

“Is this..what hope feels like?”

It was something he only graced upon in literature and film prior to this moment. His entire life, he’d only known the face of despair—a dark force that always extinguished whatever flame he had left in his very spirit. But now, it came rushing to him—like how his mother would have held him in his arms if he hadnt passed away giving birth—a soothing embrace that eases away all troubles.

“I cannot believe it…it’s…it’s real. This is for me”, he said, still in denial. If there were stages of joy, he would be in the first stage. Denial that hope could ever reach him. But now, he was willing to accept. He had to accept what felt like a grace from a God that finally felt pity on him. It was a light at the end of the tunnel, a chance for a future he’d only known in his dreams. What used to be an escape from his cruel life, now felt like a reality.

Excitedly, he ran back home to his father, who was slouched over a desk full of due payments, checking his wallet if he even had enough to survive another month. He counted precisely 20,000 Ngultrums, enough, barely enough to keep the Tanaka standing. The dark circles that had formed beneath his eyes now reached his cheek, eyes instinctively closing from fatigue. He hadnt slept in days. When payments are due, he forgoes all sleep, barely eats, and instead, works—taking all the shifts in 24 hour establishments for double the minimum rate to make his ends meet. It was a phenomenon that was unfortunately, commonplace in Raijugang. So common, it had a term. Jat gung, meaning “a day of work”.

He was so tired, he barely heard the excited screams of his now sixteen year old little boy until he was startled when he was already loudly banging on the door, kicking it ajar.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing? I dont have the money to fix that by winter!”

He paused for a moment when he noticed Yuko’s face. Most notably, he was smiling. He had never seen him smile ever since he was old enough to understand his place in this world. Riku could still remember him when he was but five years old—he had dreams of becoming a prince, or the owner of one of those businesses that towered over Raijugang. Those dreams vanished alongside his smile many years ago once he started working at just ten years old.

“I havent seen you smile in years, Yuko. You’ve always been so serious ever since my failure forced you to work at such a young age. Why the change now? Have you found a job that will lift us out of here?”

Yuko excitedly handed over the letter that he was holding. “Read it.”

His father immediately sighed. “What is it, more payments for me?”, he sarcastically commented as he opened the letter. His eyes opened wide, speechless just like how Yuko reacted when he first saw it.

He saw the name first this time.
Chen Hou-yin.

Chen Hou-yin, and the Past of Kanazawa

CHEN HOU-YIN was a name that held enough significance for Riku, that he recognized that man immediately. It was someone he had seen when he was still young, during his time at Viridian Bank in the 2000s. Hou-yin also grew up in Kanazawa, in conditions only slightly better than they were living in now.

They never talked during their childhoods, as Hou-yin had left Kanazawa at a young age once his father, Chen Hsueh had struck it big working for Gaszol many years ago. But hee remembered the day he had met Hou-yin at Viridian Bank. He was neatly dressed in a fine suit, the emblem of the University of Raijugang pinned onto his chest. Though they had never talked during their childhood, Riku vaguely remembered his face as one he had seen roaming the streets of Kanazawa selling rice congee to starving drivers stuck in traffic.

He mentioned Kanazawa in a passing comment as Hou-yin was consulting him for a loan from Viridian, testing if he really was that kid. Hou-yin immediately recalled seeing Riku’s face during his childhood in Kanazawa. This time, it was seeing him playing football with his friends at the local field after school. Hou-yin was never blessed with the physical strength Riku had in his youth, he was born with a rare physical disorder that made it hard to stand sometimes without a walking stick, though it did not stop him from still selling his rice congee during his childhood.

They got into a lengthy discussion about Kanazawa—how the city had not changed since the 1950’s, while Raijugang prospered and rapidly advanced into technological modernity. While Raijugang moved forwards, it felt as if Kanazawa was moving in the opposite direction. While Raijugang built new highways, Kanazawa’s streets had potholes that had not been filled since the time of dynastic rule. Raijugang’s lights always glittered in the night skyline, but Kanazawa only relied on its faint glow for lighting its streets in the dark.

Their conversation about Kanazawa lasted for so long, both Chen and Riku had forgotten that they were supposed to negotiate a loan before the alarm for the next appointment rang.

“Oh shit, I had completely forgotten the purpose of our meeting here. We were supposed to negotiate a loan. I sincerely apologize for my blunder.”

Chen laughed. “No need to fuss about the past, sir. You’ve really brought me back to my childhood. Everything felt like a distant memory ever since I had graduated from UniRai, and now the work for its administration. What’s the terms then so you can proceed to your next appointment. I want 1,500,000 Ngultrums. State your condition.”

“20 percent per annum. Five years.”
“Those are terms I am good with. Pleasure doing business with you.”, he said, shaking Riku’s hands.
Hou-yin didnt even ask for his name before leaving the office room. Come to think of it from the present, Riku felt that it was ironic that his whole job prior to this mess was negotiating loans for Viridian Bank. And now, he himself was caught up in a loan sharking scam by a powerful criminal organization.

But the loans he gave out were helpful. This one he had on his name, it was a harmful one.

Just Go!

He hadn't even read the entire letter yet. Just the name “Chen Hou-yin” at the bottom. Yuko was still standing there, completely dumbfounded as to why Riku was already lost in his thoughts just by reading a name that was to him, as meaningless as any other name in Raijugang aside from the Yazawa.

“Did you even read the entire letter, Father?”, he asked.
Riku snapped back.
“There’s more to it?”

Yuko tilted his head in astoundment. “This man hadn't even read the entire letter yet.”
Riku laughed.

Riku unfolded the entirety of the letter, and finally he gazed his eyes on the text “UNIVERSITY OF RAIJUGANG — SCHOLARSHIP DEPARTMENT” in capital letters. Once again, he was caught by surprise.

He read the entire thing over and over again just as Yuko had done, in denial that it was even real. Yuko knew what he was experiencing. He was experiencing for the first time, in a very long time, what the feeling of hope felt like.

“This is for you?”
“It seems it is.”
Riku stood up, and held his son by his shoulders. “If it is, then you have to go! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! You have to!”
“I was already planning to.”, said Yuko. Then he glanced around the house, at the piling bills, the decrepit condition, Riku’s malnourishment.
“But what will happen to you? If I leave you here, you–”
“Dont worry about that! YOU MUST GO!”
“But father..”
“I can take care of myself!”
“You seem past that point already.”
“Nonsense. I can simply work more to—”
“You hardly rest at all.”

For once, Riku didnt have an answer. He was already at the point of pulling 24 hour days every other day to earn enough to survive. Yuko was right that he couldnt really work more, especially now that he was past fifty years of age.
“It seems I’m right. Guess I’ll stay here, maybe I’ll be able to find work to support you, I’ll—”
“Wait here.”, said Riku, rushing upstairs. The audible sound of rummaging could be heard from the ground floor.

When Riku emerged, he produced from his hand a small, worn-out envelope. Inside were almost 15,000 Ngultrums, or 500 dollars worth of cash.
“For you. I am begging you to go.”
Yuko was surprised. “Dad this—this is a lot of money.”
“It’s all I have left after paying most of the bills.”,
“You only had 20,000 to begin with.”
“I know. But those bills have been paid enough for them to stop knocking. The rest is yours.”
“Dad you need this more than I do. You haven’t paid the Yazawa their share—”

“It is true. I have not paid those leeches their share. But I do not care anymore. I am fifty years old, edging closer to retirement every year. It isn't long before I myself depart from this world. If the Yazawa wants to kill me, then so be it. You have your entire life ahead of you, it is you who need this the most.”, he said, nudging Yuko to take the money.

Yuko did not take the money, he just stood there, tearing. “You cannot be serious, you cannot die here!”
“I am. Just take it already”!, he shoved the money into Yuko’s hands, tears flowing down his cheek. “Go now! Class starts in a few days! Leave me behind!”
Yuko did not move. “I cannot do that.”
“I plead you to.”
“Shut up!”
It was the first time Yuko had ever screamed at his father. Not out of anger, but of concern. “All the years, we have struggled. But we shared that struggle together! We weathered the cold, we braved through the hunger, weve fought through side by side— And now, you want to take all the blows for me. Arent’ we family?”

Yuko noticed that Riku remained stone-faced, when in reality he was trying his best to hold back his tears. “Dont you feel even a little concern for yourself? This city will devour you if you let me have this. I’m only young, but I already know what happens to those that displease the government, the Yazawa.”
Yuko offered the money back to Riku. “Go, have it back. I’ll just work to support my studies.”
“Do you understand how much education costs in this goddamn city?”, Riku said. “No amount of minimum wage will get you to Uni-Rai, even with a scholarship. That is my parting gift to you.”
“You cannot leave me without me at your side! Please, we’ve already lost Mother. You cannot leave me as the only survivor of the Tanaka—I can just work. I dont need to attend university if it means you have to sacrifice everything you have left. You’ve already given enough!”
“Just go!”, Riku screamed, pushing Yuko outside before locking the door.
Yuko frantincally knocked on the door. “Dad! LET ME IN! You cannot be serious rn! Dad! Dad! Dad!”

No one responded.

After fifteen minutes of knocking on the doors and windows without avail, Yuko sighed, and left home for possibly the last time, bound for Raijugang. Inside, Riku finally had the alone time to let out his own tears as he watched his son disappear onto the streets.
“I’m sorry Yuko.”, he said, the tears interrupting his voice. “But I had to do this so you would finally go.”
The date was 30 March, 2026. On the 1st of April, the Yazawa would come knocking. By this point, he owed them almost 6.6 million Ngultrums, and the Yazawa were beginning to get impatient. He’s already heard rumors that the Yazawa were taking out false life insurance policies on his name, worth the amount they wanted to collect.

This would likely be the last day he would see his son before he dies.

As his son vanished into the distance, Riku whispered to himself.
“Fly high Yuko. Higher than I’ve ever flown. And when you return, lay me to rest on the highest peak you can find….”

Matchday 7 and 8
Loss to Atheara, draw against Kytlerian Soccer Team

Matchdays 7 and 8 have just passed in the 101st World Cup qualifiers, and as your sporting correspondents for Yangchenia, it is our duty to provide you with the latest news of what is happening out there in the field. I am you writer, Tsao Tsao-tung, and today we will dissect what occured for the Blazing Dragons on the 5th and 6th matchdays of the qualifiers.

Following the victory against Mytanija, the team returns to Yangchenia's Yurt of Ilanara to face off the team of Atheara. On the way, it was reported that an arguement erupted between Sakai Hirokumi and reserve goalkeeper Hargalai, the causes of which are unknown, but some have speculated it was due to rival football team allegiances, as football on the Msalkan continent is a hotly debated topic, with many treating their city's football teams as if it were the army heading off to war.

The game begun with an early stalemate between the two teams, but it was Yangchenia that went on the offensive first. Shwedaung Tiger's Wu Hsaing quickly disorganized the Athearan team, but was unable to score a goal by halftime. Atheara made up for the early stumble with a sudden goal from their player Zarbir on the 78th minute, ending the game in favor of Atheara.

Following this defeat, the Dragons move on to the Kytler Peninsulae, the highest ranked team in the bracket. Many in Yangchenia were already predicting the worst, with Belvedere Sports Bettings in Raijugang reporting that 76% of betters bet on a Kytlerian victory in the upcoming match. The pressure was notably on for the Dragons, with Sofia Alezaria, a Raijun celebrity and goalkeeper of the Dragons posting on her Twitter account saying:

"All of you have your eyes on us, and I will deliver our team's salvation"

As soon as the match itself began, the Kytlerian team immediately struck. Hjördis Sigurdsdottir scored an early goal for the Kytlerian team on the 11th minute, after routing Sofia Alezaria. Joanne Walgrave would score another goal on the 20th minute, bringing the score to two-nil. Wu Hsaing managed to get in a goal for the Dragons on the 38th minute, but not before the Kytlerians responded with another goal from Hjordis on the 35th minute. After that third goal for the Kytlerians, Sofia Alezaria managed to prevent TKP from scoring more goals until halftime, blocking at least five attempts for the goal, bringing the game 3-1 into halftime.

For the first time in Dragons World Cup run, the first substitution happened, as the feared and legendary "Last Judgement' Hargalai stepped onto the field to serve as goalkeeper in place of Alezaria, who by this point was getting battered. The tide begun to turn for Yangchenia, as TKP failed to score their next three goals against Hargalai, who stood in front of the goal like the Great Wall - titanic and unmoving. The Dragons took this opportunity to score a goal on minute 65 and 72, both by Bahatai Yehe-Nara. The Kytlerian team scored a goal on the 82nd minute, as Charles Packard managed to scoot a goal through the mighty Hargalai, much to the shock of onlokers. But before the game could end, Wu Hsaing scored another goal on the 89th minute, ending the game in a draw, to the joy of Dragons fans, and to the dismay of the Belvedere betters who bet against their own nation.

Previously on WC101, KP wrote:"Wait, the PKP have literally got a Nolympian on their front bench?"

"They've literally got a Nolympian on their front bench."

And with that, multiple tabs on at least one screen in that room were diverted from cica.da weaponised doomscrolling to the graphic design software that would be used to knock up campaign material...

The campaign pamphlet, for the most part, basically wrote itself. There were different versions of it to knock up - one for physical posting, another for cica.da, there were a couple of other digital platforrms to consider - but the headline quote was right there, front and centre. And so was the takeaway message, given the prominent big bold text and possibly even capslock (which the Workers' Party don't tend to use in their electoral material, but they've made exceptions before and they were considering an exception here): YOU CAN'T TRUST THE PKP WITH OUR SPORTING LEGACY.

A more senior nerd - complete with hair that was grey trending towards non-existent - came along to, apparently, provide final approval. "This is what we need," he purred. "This is what will deter wavering voters, especially in the Expansion" - referring to the ex-Albundanian lands on the eastern fringes of the country near the border with, and with a sizable population from, what may or may not still be Græntfjall. That Græntfjaller population had a distinctive political profile that shaped the electoral terrain across the Expansion more broadly - culturally conservative in some regards, typically more pro-business than the Workers' Party allowed themselves to be seen, but often involved in competitive sport and consistently against a return to The Isolation. They were the prime target audience for the PKP - and polling suggested that would indeed be where they made most headway.

But if the Workers' campaign could associate the PKP with pro-Isolation sentiment - even if it was off the back of one senior member's thoughts from the era the country was so proud to leave behind, and from when he represented the party behind it rather than its avowedly centrist spinnoff - everything could change...

Ko-orenite Railways presents National Rail Map

The map can be found here and shows all the stations that Intercity and High Speed trains will call at, but not all of the all-station service stations (of which there are several hundred more). You can finally plan the optimal journey from Razahnbahna to Ethuweri (High Speed train to Gehrenna, change to High Speed to Igoshi, then change to High Speed to Ethuweri).

Several lines are shown in colour - these are the most used lines. The shaded areas are larger cities with multiple stations that also have some form of local light rail as well. Take Garihnkatar, the massive blue blob in the south - in addition to its impressive 16 stations, it also has an extensive metro network that connects, say, Dhipili to Wahgaran Dana (no need to go all the way to Garihnkatar central first). So for trips within cities - or to very specific locations in Ko-orenite metropolises, consider local rail as well.
