3on3 - Can the Red Gophers’ go top two in this group?
In this segment, editors Harrison Murray and Chelsea Ryker look at the current hot sports talking point from a diametrical point of view

HM - As people had predicted all the way from Bridgehead to Warkus, the Red Gophers seem to be stationed in a difficult and tight group. The sense that anyone can hand out a defeat is strong throughout the tournament: number one Banija came home empty-handed from Nyareth Newydd, current title holders Harea Odolgarria look nowhere near their old form and even powerhouse Sarzonia is still on the lookout for a first triumph. But when it comes to potential chaos, group C flies the flag as all six matches could have gone one way or another. As such, two wins from as many games could be golden points this early in the stage. Will Warner’s team suffer defeats? Yes, of course, but with every win closely contested, it is crucial to be ahead early on. Based on the current form patterns, it is unlikely to see any team pull out a winning streak. Six wins might suffice for the top two and if that is the case, the Gophers are almost halfway there. This mental boost might be that valuable extra puzzle piece.

But that is not to say that the image of the squad is already quite visible: physical, hungry and with Shawn Lavarre front and center. Lacrosse is quite surely a team sport but the impact of the finisher cannot be underestimated. Attacker Shawn Lavarre is on fire and rises above himself when the circumstances demand so. Two points scored against TJUN-ia was a starter but with seven strikes past Devonta’s Sammy Watts, Lavarre truly started his hunt for the topscorer’s trophy. When quizzed about his form, the man himself obviously answered that he always is a danger to the opposition but it are the comments of his fellow Red Gophers which give hope for what is to come. Fellow striker Gaumont underlined the impact Lavarre has beyond scoring while captain Neilson mentioned his boisterous (some would say, lewd) goal celebration. “That’s just Shawn. It’s how he is, straightforward, not mincing his words. You either get annoyed or you embrace it and that’s what the group started doing.” If Lavarre can now not only propel himself but also the squad, he will be hard to stop.

And the enthusiasm from the attacker works in contagious ways as the fans were very eager to support his antics. No less than five thousand had found their way to Finbourne’s Meisters Field for the occasion. Together, they created not just a record-breaking crowd for lacrosse, but more importantly an amazing atmosphere to give Anewkansas a real home advantage. The ALAXA, the national federation, made use of that success to push a broader marketing campaign to get more fans to the next games. The next pair of home games, against the [redacted, probably a cat running over the keyboard] Draconic Territories and TJUN-ia could see another celebration of the sport at Meisters Field.

CR - Did lacrosse have a party in Finbourne last Wednesday? Most certainly so and it was a great day for what remains a minority sport. But a closer look to the audience makes you wonder whether that was a one-off aided by an advantageous run of the score (from 3-5 behind to 8-7 halfway, before running away with it in a glorious fourth quarter). By our approximation, half those present visited their first match and in a way, that’s a positive thing: people getting to know the sport as a spectator. A close review of those present tells that half the people came in for free and most others made use of a 2-for-1 deal or something similar. A clever move to attract interest, but one can wonder if the ALAXA will find more than a thousand people willing to pay full price once the novelty wears off and the Red Gophers suffered their first defeat.

Because there is no doubt that that point will follow once we take off the chauvinistic rose-tinted glasses and assess the level of the team. Anyone not carrying the blue-red-and-white in their heart would call our performance against the Jaguars an abomination. Warner decided to turn the opener into an open battle with as a low the coordinated effort to not just stop but injure key player Shonwahnonkon Sundown. Luckily, the star from the Jags won’t be out long but the Red Gophers crossed the line from physical to brutal play, and beyond. To the dismay of our hosts, Warner and his team got away with it due to a very lax refereeing crew and some questionable calls. That mistake won’t be made twice, not by the officials and not by the opposition: we saw the Devontans cleverly get out of the duels. Warner should know that he can only play this card once and now it is out of his deck.

And that deck looks increasingly shorthanded ahead of two difficult away games. Apalatci comes into the match on a high while the Kytler Peninsulae will be looking for vengeance. Based on the previous edition of the WLC, there is more to them than they showed so far. The Red Gophers will take on these opponents without three vital absentees. Cormac Duddy is not the highest profile player but his finger injury thins out an already flimsy defensive rotation. In midfield, man in form Banks Cantrelle is suffering from pneumonia and is unlikely to join the flight to Apalatci: he might appear the next game but not at full strength. An even bigger gap in the line-up is left by Antoine Gaumont as a calf injury sidelines him for at least two games. Most of the praise after the opening doubleheader befell Lavarre but it was his Panthers teammate who scored three against TJUN-ia to win the game. With his power, he seems more fit for this international style and losing him gives opposing defenders a lot less to worry about. While the wins from the Red Gophers deserve praise, the success feels fragile, both tactically and physically. To Warner and his team to prove me wrong.

Official Roster of the Busoga Islands for the 46th World Lacrosse Championships

Head Coach: Adam Oduya(Banija). 65 years old. 1st tournament.

Oduya is a Banijan who has been the longtime head coach for the Luguyala Patriots, in the Banijan Lacrosse League- until, of course, this unique opportunity came up to coach the Busogan national team. He has always wanted to coach in the World Lacrosse Championships, and with Tiyana getting the Banijan NT job, and considering his age, the opportunities for him to do that were running out- until, of course, the Busogans gave him a call. With the tournament on home soil for the first time, the Busogans really wanted to put in a major effort to try and achieve success on the field at this tournament, and so they got extra funding to do this- and plenty of it went towards the head coach.

It's a 2 cycle hire, technically, but everyone knows that, in reailty, it's a 1 + 1. They need some sort of success right away- bare minimum, the 40th ranked team in the sport needs to reach the knockout stages for this to be a success. It is not an impossible ask, although the group is tough- Baker Park are a stalwart of the sport, and then teams like Quebec, Cardenao, and the Free Republics all have pedigree within the sport. But if they get to the KO stages on home soil, well, many will consider it a success for the team, and the country.

Should Warkusian Fans Worry About Complacency Setting In?
by Thomas Blayney

Warkusian sports fans have been pretty happy over the past few years. Our country has finally made its return to the sports of football and basketball – doing better than we ever have before – while additionally making a splash in the world of lacrosse for the first time. We took our best ever finish in a world-level tournament at the last edition of the World Lacrosse Championships (WLC) when we won the third place playoff against Baker Park, who are giants of the sport. Our football team has yet to qualify for the illustrious World Cup, but they made a deep run into the knockout stages of the Cup of Harmony and a slightly less deep run into the knockout stages of the CAFA Cup. The national basketball team is also looking solid after making the second group stage of the forty second International Basketball Championships and then following it up with an appearance in the round of sixteen. There have also been big investments in the Warkusian Institute of Sport and significant education reforms that have made it easier for talented young athletes to get the development they need. Everything’s swell. Maybe it’s too swell.

Win or lose, Warkusians come out of every game happy and excited for the next one. It certainly helps that none of three teams, nor any of their individual players or coaches, have been riled in any devastating scandals and seem to be moving from strength to strength. The managers of all three teams, though they have differing personalities and approaches, are also likable figures which makes it easy to root for them. Jack ‘Princeps’ Blethyn has become something of a media sensation for entirely off-the-pitch reasons with the announcement of his relationship with Queen Eirian, but the combination of his side’s attacking football and superstar flair players like Llewelyn Rose has made him a popular figure among the hardcore fans too. Sean Thrower is, in some sense, a completely different coach. He doesn’t have a big public profile and he’s much more of a ‘motivator coach’. But Thrower’s enthusiasm has been getting his team the results they need and has even managed to get some of the Warkusians off the seats and cheering. Meanwhile Thomas Murphy is a veritable throwback: a player-manager who captained a hastily thrown together bundle of the country’s best players and led them on the pitch to Warkus’s best ever result at the world-level. He’s not a player any more, but he’s gotten the team’s second WLC campaign off to a great start with two wins from two games – including one against world number one’s Banija, who are the closest thing we have to a rival in any sport.

But wherever we’ve succeeded, other nations have shown that they can do better. Nations like Paradystopia, Stewartika and Anewkansas have progressed far quicker than we have when it comes to international football. In the WLC, Harea Odolgarria outshone us as the tournament’s strongest debutants by going on to win the whole thing against a Banija side that knocked us out in the semi finals. It’s surprisingly in basketball where we’ve pulled ahead of the other unranked sides from the forty second edition, as we currently sit eleventh in the IBC rankings – one spot above Tumbra and five spots above the Kytler Peninsulae. Even then, it isn’t as if we’ve had some historic rise to the top or anything like that.

We haven’t had a real howler yet, at least not in this era, but it’s inevitable that we’ll have one eventually. Blethyn’s side had a frustrating qualifying campaign for the one hundredth edition of the World Cup, although he made things up with his team’s Cup of Harmony performance by adopting a more fluid, less structured tactical approach. Now he’s more untouchable than ever: an exciting attacking manager who’s bought himself a cycle or two of security because he did well in two competitions that shouldn’t be treated as important as the qualifiers are and, to be frank, because he might marry the Queen in the coming years. Murphy and Thrower have likewise bought themselves loads of good will from the fans and their respective governing bodies with their team’s performances.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t be happy or excited about this new era of Warkusian sporting excellence, nor am I saying we should temper our expectations. Tempering our expectations too much is actually what I’m concerned about. Blethyn, Murphy and Thrower are all great coaches and I’m loving what we’re getting from them, but they’re not infallible. They’re not gods. They’ve earned the opportunity to fail once or twice, absolutely. Once or twice, but no more than that. If these sides start to falter and it becomes clear that they’ve taken their teams as far as they can, we need to be prepared to accept that. The directors of the Warkusian Football Association, Warkusian Basketball Association or Lacrosse Warkus need to be willing to step in and make the right decisions if, even though none of us want it to happen, those days come.

The Baker Park National Lacrosse Team began Group B play at the 46th World Lacrosse Championships with a pair of victories, avoiding the early hiccups that plagued several other top nations across the opening week of action.

A blustery afternoon wasn't a deterrent to the 10,000 who came out to Selvey Commons in Oceana to see the Elks dismantle Quebec and Shingoryeo by a final score of 16-5; matchday 1 was an unprecedented bloodbath for the rest of the top seven ranked sides, with only #6 Warkus joining BP in the win column as they avenged their semi-final defeat to Banija in WLC 45 with a comprehensive home win.

A trip to Free Republics was in store on MD 2, and the Elks showed they have plenty of firepower to go along with their compact defense as they rolled to a 20-2 win, propelling BP to the top of both the group and the overall standings although it's still early days yet.

The next two fixtures see Cardenao traveling to Hannover's Fritz Shafer Stadium followed by an away match versus the host nation Busoga Islands; BP swept the Islanders during group play in the last tournament, but the Busogans will certainly be keen to prove they have made strides in the sport as well as send a message to the second ranked Elks.

Both defending champion Harea Odolgarria and nine time winners Sarzonia have work to do after being swept in the opening doubleheader, although the Stars seem to be just slightly off their game after dropping their pair of games by three goals total, while the holders have been rocked in both defeats.

OOC Note: For IC timing purposes, this summer tournament happens before training camp ahead of NSCF 35

The Lakiska Daily

'Tis the Season- Busoga Islands chase lacrosse glory as they pursue the World Lacrosse Championships on home soil

LAKISKA, BUSOGA ISLANDS- It is time for the 46th World Lacrosse Championships, and for the first time, it is taking place on Busogan soil- as the BILF(Busoga Islands Lacrosse Federation) bid, unopposed, to bring the tournament home. "This is a sport that is a potential growth sport on these Islands- we believe that there are quite reasonable dividends, both on and off the field, that can come from playing this tournament on our own grass." The BILF President told reporters. "A relatively cheap tournament to host in comparison to some other ones, we will get some quality return on our NSD, and hopefully, we will have a strong team to build upon."

Strong team to build upon, indeed. The Busogan lacrosse set up is an interesting one. Most sports, the Busogans just tack a team or two onto the Banijan leagues, thanks to the history between the two nations- and for economic purposes. "The Busoga Islands are a small country- but teams that have access to the Banijan market, particularly those TV dollars, are so much economically stronger than the ones who don't." Said a Busogan TV commentator. "It's why you see the setup, again and again- Busoga's 14 professional soccer clubs are fully integrated into the Banijan (and Farf) soccer pyramid. We've got a couple of teams in the GFLB. We have teams in the Banijan baseball system. It is a system that works, and, frankly, there are winners everywhere- Busogan fans, Busogan teams, and even the leagues themselves."

But there are 0 Busogan teams in the Banijan Lacrosse League- a rarity. And so, 3 years ago, the BILF decided to launch the Lacrosse League of the Busoga Islands, or the LLBI, for short. A fully professional league, whose goal it is to eventually bring full-time professional lacrosse to the Busoga Islands. "It has always been ambitious- a 12 team, all-Busogan sports league on these islands." Said the BILF President. "But, we have to believe in this country- if we want strong national teams, we've got to have some sort of semblance of a domestic league system, and this, well, is a real semblance of a domestic league system. It is something that can be done- but we've got to be bold about it, and here, we are being bold."

The biggest move, for this national team, is the debut of Delbin Kasekende III- best known as the quarterback for LeBois Santura University- as a starting attacker for this team. His grandfather, if everyone remembers, spent a quarter-century as the country's second elected President- and his father was a former captain for the national soccer team. "While he's obviously best known as a college football player, he's a surprisingly strong lacrosse player in the Cardenao college lacrosse system." Said a Busogan TV commentator. "In high school, at Cass Tech, he led the high school team to a regional championship as a senior, and while obviously gridiron is his primary sport, the school let him come out and compete at the world championships."

He told reporters that he felt experience gained here would help him lead LeBois ahead of his senior season. "Look, we've got big goals- beat those Ranorian bastards, beat Alexandria, and win a whole bunch of playoff games." He told reporters. "But I've gotta lead the boys- hopefully, competing for my country at a tournament like this can help me in that goal." We'll see specifically how DK3 performs, but know this- he's bringing the star power. If the team makes a legit run... Expect some strong crowds on the Islands coming his way.

MD 1:
HUElavia 11–3 Nusandara

MD 2:
HUElavia 11–9 Sarzonia

Blitzing the Field

HUElavia opens up WLC 46 with a pair of wins, including a nervy and historic win over Sarzonia!

Lacrosse is a sport that has a unique history in HUElavia. Many years ago, the team was a surprise package and managed to win a WLC in a historic run. Since then, HUElavia has been trying to chase that high and success. A sport that while has gained a niche popularity in the country, it is mainly enjoyed by more upper middle class and wealthy HUElavians that can afford the prices to play the sport. Despite such financial barrier, HUElavia continues bringing out good talent to build off from Universities throughout the country. This is no different to this team in this edition, where new faces are joining this team that had a quarter-final run at WLC 45 to hosts and eventual runners up Banija, in an embarrassing 13-2 beatdown (refereed by a nation that gets our ire). Still, there is plenty of hope and aspiration to return to the WLC Final once again, and HUElavia does have a team that can make a deep run, but for now, they must focus game by game and make the knockouts first.

In the first match, HUElavia pulled out a dominating 11-3 victory over Nusandara to open up their campaign. Vina and Becerra had hat-tricks during the game, while braces from Cao and Komori and a lone goal from Curichimba accounted for the eleven goals scored during the match. Notably, Jelani had a pokal of assists for the opening game. The second match saw HUElavia agonize a see-saw battle against No. 3 and one of the favorites in Sarzonia, surviving a thriller in an 11-9 victory. Once again, Becerra had a hat-trick, with braces by Vina, Cantin, Jelani, and single goals from Licciardi and Fouquet gave way for HUElavia to edge out the late win. At the end of the two matchdays, debutants Tomerion lead Group E on goal difference with a 2-0 record, with HUElavia in 2nd place with 2-0, Nusandara and Veritas Project in 3rd and 4th with 1-1 records, and surprisingly Sarzonia in 5th with an 0-2 record, followed by The Golden Harp in 6th with 0-2 record as well.

The next two games will be against The Golden Harp and Veritas Project respectively, where Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos will look to go for victories and try to run away with 1st Place in Group E in order to get a more favorable position in the knockouts. Still, the group stage is just starting and plenty can happen between now and then. On to the next!

Ego.

produced by ReemSports

The air was filled with confetti. It was beautiful. But it didn't smell like confetti. It smelled like a bunch of sweat, disgusting floor wax, and the feeling of adrenaline right inside. Micah Day made his seat right on the bench; the sound of about twelve thousand Ardsk City Hoppers fans was silenced by the heavy plastic on his helmet. At nineteen, he was the youngest MVP in the history of the Natkrian Professional Lacrosse League (NPLL). He had just finished the season as the top scorer, finishing off what might be the greatest individual season of all time with a stunning goal to clinch the Ardsk City Hoppers' very first NPLL Championship victory that every reporter was calling the "Miracle at Skyhold".

But as his teammates began to celebrate intensely and pour champagne over each other in an electric mosh pit, Micah just began to stay still. It was weird. He was staring at his gloves. His father's older gloves.

To understand the talent, you have to understand the shadow.

25 or something years ago, Nahum Day was supposed to be the wonderkid of Natkrian lacrosse. He had an insane build among all of the other players, and more importantly, a shot that could probably break someone's bones. But his career didn't turn out well. It didn't end in a championship win. It ended in a bar fight. It ended in broken knees. It ended in an arrest. No one's team wanted a player like that. He now had a reputation for being "uncoachable". He was a man who had all the talent he needed and ended it in a disagreement at a bar. He would never forgive himself for that.

It ruined his life.

Growing up near the Outer Plains of Natkr, Micah never had bedtime stories. He didn't have friends. He had lacrosse practice and film sessions. From the age of around seven, Nahum would wake up Micah early at 4:30 a.m each day to train. Nahum would stand there in the dirty mud of their backyard, throwing multiple passes toward Micah's chest. If Micah missed it or dropped one, they started over. Nahum told his son something very important. "Talent is just a target for people who want to see you fail. Ego is the only thing that keeps you standing."

Nahum didn't want a son; he didn't want a kid to raise. He just wanted a reset. A clone of him. He came to every practice Micah had, yelling at the referee or even the coach sometimes. It was either about not playing his son too much or something else. There was always something he had to say. He lived through each and every goal Micah scored in the lower youth leagues, always complaining about something, even if Micah managed to score ten points. "You missed the breakway at the four-minute mark," Nahum would yell on the car ride home. "That's how losers play." "You're a Day. Play like it."

Sorry for the delay, but we finally got an interview, yup, I'm super busy.

LIVE FROM BUSOGA ISLANDS...

Interviewer 1: So, how's our nation doing for this Lacrosse Competition thus far? Well, 3 loses, 1 win, we really got whacked. Coach Wesley Hasbel thought it was a good idea to sign our nation up for this, so [everyone chuckling].

Interviewer 2: Well, I understand cuz of the rising popularity of Lacrosse recently, you know, but lets here it from Coach Wesley Hasbel.

Interviewer 1: Oh, here we go! Whoof! So, coach, how are you doing there, all over the oceansss in Busoga Islands.

Coach Hasbel: Thanks for having me, you know. It is an definite honour for us, umm, me and the boys serving our nation, so, but yeah, things have really turn up to be what we did not expect. Umm, is it safe for me to describe this tournament for us thus far, in like, two words?

Interviewer 1: Well, go on.

Coach Hasbel: Horrifying terrible!

[everyone chuckling]

Coach Hasbel: No, I-I-I'm serious, like dead serious, we are now like moles, getting whacked, you know like the whack the mole game?

Interviewer 1: Yeah, it is just like- the way you say it is

[both interviewers]: So f*ck*ng hilarious

Coach Hasbel: Umm, are you allowed to swear like this, you know, there may be young fans.

Interviewer 2: Umm... so how are the boys doing-

[everyone chuckling]

Coach Hasbel: What a way to change the topic, man. Ok, ok, so the boys, their okay, just a little exhausted you know. 4 matches back-to-back, we have like less than 7 hours of sleep, training for 4-6 hours, our trips to the stadiums and back are like 2 hours, and yeah, we barely have time to sleep.

Interviewer 1: Umm, coach, so I have a crazy suggestion-

Coach Hasbel: Ok, go on.

Interviewer 1: Like a crazy idea, a crazy one, you know.

Coach Hasbel: I'm all ears, I would like to hear it.

Interviewer 1: You know the motto, Let's do it, The Marble Way! CHAOS!!!

Coach Hasbel: Yeah, my boys and I made that motto up due to the ultras-

Interviewer 1: YES! YES! Remember IAC 25? The ultras caused-

Coach Hasbel: NO! I don't want chaos

[everyone chuckling]

Coach Hasbel: Ok, ok. I got your idea, I respect your opinion.

Interviewer 2: We listen we don't judge.

Coach Hasbel: Yes, but, bro, the flares man! We don't want us to get into trouble just because of an idiot burning down the stadium or the bar.

Interviewer 2: Or banging pots outside of hotels.

Coach Hasbel: YES! This IS NOT AN ICE PROTEST! Man! This is a Lacrosse match, so I would say, the ultras would give some good support, but don't make too much noise you know.

Interviewer 1: Isn't the job of the ultras is to create chaos and distract the foes?

Coach Hasbel: Ok, but please, we ain't gonna get into some stupid, ridiculous brawl. And we need our boys to focus. [whisper: My time is running up]

Interviewer 2: ok, quick final question, any opinions or advice for your next match.

Coach Hasbel: I would say, just trust in God and hope everything will- go well. Yeah.

Interviewer 1: I think that's all the time we have. Thank you for being with us, coach.

Interviewer 2: yup.

Coach Hasbel: My pleasure.

Interviewer 2: And be ready to meet- the ULTRAS!

Coach Hasbel: Oh HELL NO!

[everyone chuckling]

After 3 humiliating losses, Coach Wesley Hasbel has gone off to work to fix the team and get em' ready for their next match.
Meanwhile, he also got something to tell our good friends, the Huelavia team:

"Good job guys, man! 4 wins in 4 matches, we will always have your back, Hue! Forca Huelavia! Vamos Huelavia!"

Coach said that the team also need some support from the country, so about 17 million fans have poured into the Busoga Islands. The beaches are filled with Marbles. And yup, a bit chaos on the streets but overall, the fans are loving the weather.

Building upon the literature derived from similar studies abroad (see chapter 2), the insights of the Anewkansan sociocultural framework (see chapter 3) and the description of the sports landscape within the nation (see chapter 4), two surveys were conducted. Evidently, these were conducted along the methodological framework guidelines described in chapter 5.1 in which the respondents were grouped along their sociocultural group. These are either seen as ‘originals’ (born in Anewkansas before the independence or from a mother who did), ‘second-wavers’ (migrated on individual initiative after the independence or having a mother who did so) or ‘permitted’ (migrated as part of a yellow permit plan to transplant a larger community at once for employment in a specific subsection of the workforce).

For the first survey, the participants in the top level of each of the thirteen sports with the most airtime during the last twelve months (see section 5.2) were classified by their sociocultural group. For example, all participants to the last athletics national championship were classified, all (domestic) players in the Anewkansan Premier League and all boxers who fought a ‘belt’ duel. In cases where the heritage was unclear, the respective sporter was excluded from the sample. In table 12, one can see clear distinctions between the sports in terms of sociocultural top-tier participation. While a deeper investigation of the youth ranks would be preferable for a full insight (see Closing remarks), sports can be clustered along a three-dimensional space in terms of sociocultural position. There is a clear distinction between ‘original’ sports (such as lacrosse or shooting), sports adopted by the second wave (such as baseball and rowing) and those widely integrated across the social fabric, with athletics and football as prime examples. It is worth noting that at the moment, no sport has specifically materialized as a symbol for later migration, even if some claim basketball to be so. According to my first findings, the fractured nature of the ‘permitted’ group leads to this result (see table 12b in appendix).

Table 12 - Participation level by sociocultural group at the top level, split by sport

Sport Orig. SecW. Perm.
Athletics 39 34 27
Baseball 42 44 14
Basketball 29 41 30
Boxing 31 32 37
Cycling 47 30 23
Football 34 30 36
Gymnastics 27 40 33
Lacrosse 66 26 8
Rowing 54 34 12

Swimming 46 30 24
Tennis 52 29 19
Volleyball 42 27 31
—------------------------------------
Population (18-35) 41 33 26

We have combined the above findings with the details of the interest level in each of these thirteen sports by an indicative set of respondents across all three sociocultural groups. All those selected for interview had indicated that they have an interest in sports, either through visiting an event live or by following live broadcasts on television. In the questionnaire, the respondents were asked whether they would show interest in watching a top event (in example, an international game including Anewkansan representatives or a national championship) in the respective sport. The table below lists the percentage of positive replies. It is no surprise to see a strong correlation between the interest level of a certain group and the sociocultural representation at the top level. Nonetheless, there are minor disparities which show an interesting trend. Tennis and cycling, for example, have managed to obtain a threshold interest level from all groups despite being dominated in representation by ‘originals’. Other more typically ‘original’ coded sports stay behind. Keeping in mind the changing demographic structure of our nation, these sports are doomed to become marginalized unless they find a way into the other communities of our nation.

Table 13 - Interest level by sociocultural group per sport for people interested in sports, indicated per 100 respondents

Sport Orig. SecW. Perm. All

Margareth Compton, head of the national lacrosse federation ALAXA, violently tossed aside her newspaper. Her aide could see she was fuming and should have known better than to try and put out the fire after his years in service.

“It is just a poor choice of words, madam, and…”
“A poor choice of words? Do you still believe in Santa Clause, Michael? It’s a deliberate attempt to keep us down!”
“Well… The term is of course off, bu-”
“Marginal. Marginal! That’s not a bit off, that is putting down months and months of effort!”
“It did mention our success…”

With eyes that could cut through steel, Margareth Compton picks up the paper and pushes it in Michael’s face, slowly reciting the main headline.

Marginalized Red Gophers shock group with winning streak

Michael paused for a second as he contained the instinct to mention that the word was rooted in scientific work.

“What unites Anewkansan sports fans, madam?”

Margareth took Michael up and down. There was a good reason why she kept him close in her entourage.

“Tell me?”
“Hell, what unites all sports fans? An amiable underdog goes a long way. But a winning underdog, well… That’s a potential goldmine.”
“Go on…”
“They complained that we handed out tickets for the first home game. I suggest we hand out twice as many for the next one. Let us fill up Meisters Field for free. As long as we can keep the taps open, it will be a success.”

Margareth thought for a second.

“But it has to be a winning underdog, of course.”
“I’ll see for a better arrangement for the refereeing crews.”

Yes indeed, there was a good reason why she kept Michael close in her entourage.

MD 3:
Golden Harp 10–16 HUElavia

MD 4:
HUElavia 5–2 Veritas Project

Knocking down the house!

HUElavia continues their good run taking down two opponents to maintain good pace to the knockouts!

Continuing onwards at the WLC, HUElavia came into their next two matches looking for more victories, now that they survived Sarzonia, their main direct threat for 1st in Group E. Taking on The Golden Harp and Veritas Project, Ranked 21st and Unranked respectively, there was confidence in Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos to be able to show their Lacrosse might and sweep through these two games with ease. There was plenty of games to go, and the team was looking forward towards another set of good results.

The first game saw HUElavia have the lead early and not look back. Cantin had a Pokal this time around, with hat-tricks for Becerra and Yanovna, along with braces from Jelani, Avellaneda and Cao. Jelani once more had a great game with his assists, getting 5 total in this match, and 4 for Komori. The defense did have struggles though, conceding 10 goals, the most in a match up to now. While the team did win by a 6-goal margin, it is still concerning if HUElavia concede 19 in two matches. The second match was more tense and defensive, as Veritas Project really gave the offense a tough time during the match. A brace from Atenas and goals from Vina, Sanches and Fouquet were enough to get goals needed to get a 5-2 victory in the second match. Conceding two goals was the lowest allowed by the team up to now, which earned much praise from the HUElavian fans, who highlighted the interceptions of the ball and the quick passes to get the ball out of danger.

After four matchdays, HUElavia leads Group E with a perfect 4-0 record (one of three remaining teams with such a record), followed by Tomerion with a 3-1 record in 2nd, Sarzonia in 3rd with 2-2 record, Nusandara in 4th with a 2-2 record (separated by goal difference), Veritas Project in 5th with a 1-3 record, and The Golden Harp in 6th with a 0-4 record. HUElavia will take on Tomerion and Nusandara for matchdays 5 and 6, with the latter being the possible first sweep of the group for Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos. If results shake out right, HUElavia could inch to a knockout spot by the end of Matchday 6. Still, the tournament continues and HUElavia is warming up to be a team worthy to be heard and respected in this competition. On to the next!

Three quick teatime questions for Tomerion's very own Ashanti Calthorpe
Posted by Aaliyah Berrabah on February 27, 2026

For those of y'all who don't know about it already... well, teatime is a rather-big deal here in the Tomerian archipelago (the way it is in different iterations of the Britannic nation on a couple of other planes in the multiverse), even if the specifics may differ. Exhibit A: Gebonia's cuppa tea may be black with milk and have nothing additional in it, but Adelia's tends to have boba pearls like those chilled bubble teas you've probably had before, and so on...

But, okay. Enough 'bout the specifics of a Tomerian teatime. How about we take a moment to introduce our special guest to the multiverse? (We did a video interview on the Zoom-like Vidyafone for this post just FYI because I'm still based back home in the Tomerian city of Dataville whereas Ashanti's out and about in the Busoga Islands... but for brevity, I'ma highlight three of the most important Q&As from that interview for y'all, so please press play on the video below if you wanna watch the full interview.)

*insert video embed here*

Me: So, how would you describe the Tomerian national lacrosse team's second-place ranking in WLC46 at present?

Ashanti: Pretty good for a group of multiversal-stage noobs, I must say. My team was literally playing against two different nations' teams across two days - day one with Veritas Project and day two with Nusandara - and managed to beat the former by six goals. How nice is that?

Me: Sounds good. By the way, you didn't join the Tomerion-v-Veritas Project match until, like, seven minutes in - at that point, Michelle Kashino (the starting goalkeeper of our national lacrosse team) had to withdraw from her goalkeeping duties after emergency teams at the match's venue rushed her to hospital over an apparent case of food poisoning. What words do you have for that situation?

Ashanti: Well, at first I wasn't completely sure about what Michelle had eaten pre-game to end up in hospital, but from what I've gathered since, she'd had breakfast with Taylor Yeung (who's a bench player like me) at some Busogan sohbaneh joint called House of Salmanzadeh. And to think about how a lot of locals had started reporting recent food poisoning incidents as well after eating at that same joint by the time I'd woken up... All that said, I wish her (as well as Taylor) a speedy recovery.

Me: Oh, okay. Now, please reveal some tips for your fellows at WLC when it comes to self-care.

Ashanti: Number one: the 4-4-4-4 breathing technique - I recommend that y'all inhale for four seconds, hold for the same duration, exhale for the same duration, pause for the same duration, and rinse-and-repeat if you're looking to calm down. Number two: I know it can get stressful, but try to sleep well for at least 8 hours a day once each match day's over so you can wake up with a fresher look than heavily-rusting iron. And number three: always speak to a pro therapist if you're not sure whether any of these methods are working for you. That's the dealio.

Tome☆rion (MT with a bit of PMT) = a nation that exists in the same world as Britonisea, Treileia (my first Novapax-based puppet), Auryia (my second Novapax-based puppet), Darkmania, Aenglide, and Mercedini + is also the new main of the player who used to be behind Rhim Flavezz⍋towland and then Haku☆shiya

Little War Logs: The Battles of Gear-Changing

Postby TJUN-ia » Fri Feb 27, 2026 11:39 am

After two Battles that helped us rediscover ourselves, the Little War Jaguars of TJUN-ia were back up and running, and everything seemed to be...OK. A 1-1 start, one close defeat and one big win, were certainly some data points that can be used to reflect on our performances and while that opener had some regrets involved with it, Ty Halftown was still confident that this team had what it took to press on and do well...which is all that matters in this sunset season for the team. So let's press forward - we have a home double-header to talk about.

The Kytler Peninsulae, #14 in the rankings, was up first to enter the HTWT and Deganawidah. Just like the Anewkansas clash, this one was tightly contested, with both teams giving it their all and everyone seemingly hungry for success, but things really started to shift in the 2nd half of affairs. Henry Corcoran and Daniel Hutchinson-Blake were making us work for this win, that cannot be denied, but the combined power of Shonwahnonkon Sundown, Nadin Qaraqra and Nayu Ueno was just enough to take this one 9-6. It wasn't easy at all, but we just got the job done.

Then came the United States of Devonta to town and like the QDT game, this one wasn't close. At all. When Sergei Kuzmin was the best on the opposition with just 2 goals, you know things weren't exactly going well for the opposition. Shonwahnonkon Sundown grabbed 8 on the day, just a beatdown of epic proportions, in a 14-4 that took us to 3-1 and 2nd in this group as we approach halfway.

Road trip next up! Hopefully, this momentum can continue.
MARCH ON, LITTLE WAR JAGS!

Gaelic Gamers
Presents...

The Lacrosse Lamentations
with Reagan Lucero

I don’t want to speak for anyone else, but lately, hasn’t it felt like the winds of change have been blowing especially hard? I’m not really sure if I can put this feeling into words, but I’m definitely going to try. Gaelic Gamers has been around for an incredibly long time. Like, I’m sure that it’s been around long before I was even born. It seems incredible to think that a website that started off as just four cousins from Markovsky with Irish ancestry who wanted to shoot the breeze has now become one of the most popular sports blogging sites in all of Abanhfleft. But obviously they can’t just keep it going all by themselves, and now here we have the next generation of Gaelic Gamers, and none of them even speak Gaelic! At least as far as I can tell anyway. And I’m not about to learn the language now, since it’s not really a requirement. At least I don’t think so. Anyway, the old guard of Gaelic Gamers is slowly but steadily leaving behind their website to the hands of their chosen successors. Gosh, that looks so silly when I typed that. But they asked me to do it, just so everyone knows that The Lacrosse Lamentations is now under new management. Goodbye, Aisling Keane. Hello, Reagan Lucero.

Okay, so who in the world is Reagan Lucero? Well, if you’re a long-time fan of Fleftic lacrosse, you probably know who I am. But as I’ve been told that Gaelic Gamers has picked up a substantial international following since its inception, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Reagan Lucero, and I’m a former player for the Fleftic national lacrosse team. Wow. Five years after hanging up my shoes and I’m still trying to get used to life after playing. It’s like the only thing I’ve ever really known for most of my life, so it’s not as if I made the decision to walk away from it all lightly. But I’m getting a little bit too ahead of myself. I started playing lacrosse at a bit of a late age, like first year high school late. Because of that, I wasn’t really much of a star during my high school years, but I was still good enough to get a scholarship from the University of Calfragilis once I graduated. It would be in college where I would get my big break though, and I would lead the Scarlets to two straight conference championships in my sophomore and junior years. We could have gone three in a row, but in my senior year Kimmirut State ate us alive, so that was that dream gone.

That was just my collegiate career. After I graduated, I immediately got an offer to play for the Riuwiee Nighthawks of the Lacrosse League of Abanhfleft. Now let me tell you how rare of an occasion that is. Okay, first of all, despite the amount of success Abanhfleft has had in lacrosse, it’s still practically a niche sport in this country. Yeah, there’s enough support for a league, but it’s also not big enough to make a draft system practical so the best players don’t always go straight to the Lacrosse League of Abanhfleft. Most of us end up playing for localized minor leagues, that is if we’re still interested in playing after college, which a lot of players don’t end up doing. What, did you think that the likes of Fatima Alsambis and CeCe Cuvimi were living it up when they led us to back-to-back World Lacrosse Championships all those years ago? No, they didn’t. They might have international superstars but there aren’t a lot of people who can remember where they played locally. But, again, I’m getting a little bit too further ahead of myself. A lot of the players in the Lacrosse League of Abanhfleft didn’t start playing there immediately, but I was one of the rare exceptions. I try not to get too caught up in my own hype, but even back then I could already hear and read rumors that I was going to be the next big thing in Abanhfleft when it comes to lacrosse. And, speaking of which, I actually have Gaelic Gamers to thank for that. Aisling Keane was one of my first big believers even before I had properly broken out, either in LLA or the national team, and I guess it’s Aisling’s belief in me that’s led to this moment of me finally taking over The Lacrosse Lamentations for her. So, uh, thanks for that, Aisling. Seriously.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah. What did I do during my career as a professional lacrosse player? Oh, nothing much. Just four LLA championships under my belt, two with the Nighthawks and another two with the Olistan Polaris. Really, I should have had three rings with Riuwiee though. If it weren’t for the Suwkpel Rush absolutely steamrolling us in the conference final, I’m pretty sure that we would have beaten Jasvirabad in the LLA finals. We wouldn’t have underestimated the Jays like Suwkpel did, and we would have beaten Jasvirabad like how we beat them in the regular season. Oh, well. Sometimes things don’t go your way. Also, internationally speaking, I also have one World Lacrosse Championship in my trophy case. But I won it in my very first appearance in the competition for the Amazons, so can I really say that I did my part in winning the WLC for my country? There are a lot of people out there who will say that I did my part, but personally speaking, I was really just a benchwarmer. I didn’t score any of the really important goals that got us over the line. I was just… there, more or less. Just doing my job, coming on when necessary.

If there’s one thing of consequence that happened for me during WLC 36 though, it’s the fact that that was the very same tournament in which I was first called “the next big thing.” Aisling, I know that I’ve already thanked you for your part in supporting me and hyping me up throughout my career, but now it’s time for me to tell you off for doing the very same thing because, and this might actually come as a bit of a shocker for some of the people reading this, you put too much on my shoulders, girl! I don’t want to go out there and claim that you hyped me up too much for my own good, but now that’s exactly what I’m going to say! (Just for this part though; Ash has still done a lot to help me out through the years) Aisling Keane was here on The Lacrosse Lamentations shouting on the rooftops that I was going to be Abanhfleft’s “next big thing,” and that I was going to be Jenelle Eure’s successor to the captaincy. Wow, thanks a lot for all of the added pressure, Ash! Now I can’t just be myself out there. I have to be the shining star in the middle of it all! Do you even have any idea how much that kind of pressure and expectation messes with your head?! I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy! Well, actually, no. There are some people out there I might actually wish all of this BS on, just because I know that they’re gonna fold under all of it. Call me petty but if I knew how certain people are going to react under all that stress, I might actually pick and choose who I can make suffer. If I can, that is, which we all know I can’t really do.

Well, that went off the rails just a tiny little bit, didn’t it? I promise I will try to keep that to a minimum in the future. I just had to get those things off of my chest before I can move on. Am I just shifting the blame for my failures in my career on to other people in order to avoid the full responsibility? There’s probably some truth to it. These things are complicated. But personally, I really do believe that the hype train on my behalf played a part in derailing itself in as much as I pushed myself potentially beyond my own strengths and capabilities in trying to chase after glory. You know, just “next big thing” and “future captain material” things. Captains are supposed to lead and set an example, right? Well, when it was time for me to lead and set an example out there, I can’t really say that I did all that well in that. I mean, three consecutive third place finishes. Are you kidding me? There was a time when that would have been a great achievement, and I know that there are teams out there that would kill for even just one bronze medal. Yet after having won the world title six times, really, anything less than the championship is and should be a failure for the Amazons.

Well, maybe I really shouldn’t be so harsh on myself. After all, getting that seventh WLC title was a nationwide mission, not something that was just given to me and me alone. There is no “I” in “team,” after all. Then again, winning that so-called “lucky title number seven” became a bit of an obsession during the whole time that I was with the team. And I don’t really know what sucks more, the fact that I was never able to complete the quest for “lucky number seven” or the fact that this obsession coincided with Sarzonia’s unexpected (for some, maybe) resurgence that led to the Stars winning four straight titles. Four straight titles! Anyone who wasn’t a fan of Sarzonia really was not having a good time during those years, and I think that goes double for anyone who supported Banija during that time. Like, bro, how unlucky can you actually get? Any team that lost three straight finals to the same team every time has to feel like they’ve been absolutely cursed by (insert name of god or deity or higher power here). If I was playing for the Lions or even just supporting them, I’d have lost my mind! Then again, it wasn’t as if supporting or playing for the Amazons was any better. Heck, we even had the added downside of falling in the semifinals and having to settle for bronze!

I have to admit that the fact that I was unable to claim a seventh title for Abanhfleft while I was playing for the Amazons still stings me a little bit to this day. It was something that the rest of the team was already talking about almost as soon as we were done lifting the trophy at WLC 36. When Jenelle Eure retired from the national team, she told me that the responsibility was eventually going to fall on my shoulders, and I had to be ready when that happens. Yeah, I don’t think that was enough preparation for what was going to happen next. Hindsight really is 20/20 because who could have predicted that Sarzonia was going to raise another golden generation of lacrosse players that would carry them to four straight titles to put them way ahead of everyone else in the competition? Certainly wasn’t going to be me! And ten years on from my last game with the Amazons, we’re still searching for “lucky number seven.” Are we going to be able to get it within my lifetime? I want to believe we can. I really want to believe. But things really aren’t looking so good for us at the moment, especially now that the SLA (Samahang Lakros ng Abanhfleft) has decided to blow up the entire management and training structure of the team in the hopes that new faces would bring new ideas along with them. But will it actually be successful? I hope so. I really hope so. But there’s no way of knowing if it actually has any chance of succeeding or not.

Now I have no idea if I’ve actually made a good impression on you guys, you who have followed The Lacrosse Lamentations since the beginning. Probably not because I might have actually done some trauma dumping when you guys didn’t really deserve any of it. Clearly, there are things that I still have to work through because I had no idea I actually had to work on any of it until now. I swear that The Lacrosse Lamentations is not going to become a therapy session for me or for anyone else, for that matter. I’m only here to talk about lacrosse, and I can only hope that the content I make from here on out is even just a quarter as good as what Aisling gave you all during her time here. Thanks for putting up with me, Reagan Lucero, and I swear I won’t derail the next one. No, really.

What Does Willard Cahill-Vaughan’s Election As Vice President of the World Lacrosse Council Mean for Warkus?
by Miranda Brewer

Long time Warkusian lacrosse giant Willard Cahill-Vaughan has been elected unopposed as the next Vice President of the World Lacrosse Council. His term will begin following the end of the ongoing World Lacrosse Championships. This marks the first time that a Warkusian has been elected to a key executive role in an international sports federation. This news follows Warkus’s recent shocking less at home against unranked debutants Libgeist. Cahill-Vaughan’s nomination and subsequent election is being perceived by other national Lacrosse federations as a demonstration of Lacrosse Warkus’s intent to continue participating in future World Lacrosse Championships.

What is the World Lacrosse Council?
The World Lacrosse Council, like the World Cup Committee and the International Basketball Organization, is an international sports federation responsible for organising its respective sport’s premier international competition – voting on host bids, maintaining the official rankings, promoting the sport, making decisions about how the sport is regulated and so on. In other words, the World Lacrosse Council is lacrosse’s premier international governing body. Warkus recently became one of fifteen World Lacrosse Council member nations following the last tournament.

Who is Willard Cahill-Vaughan?
Willard Cahill-Vaughan is the former President of the Sun Fort Blaze and most known for playing as a defender for their Senior A team for seventeen straight years. He also served as part of Lacrosse Warkus’s board of directors for a time but stepped down prior to being nominated for the position of World Lacrosse Council Vice President.

At sixty years of age, he is the oldest living member of the Cahill-Vaughan family, which is one of our domestic lacrosse scene’s ‘Five Families’ and the only one not represented among the national team’s playing squad or coaching staff.

Who and what are the ‘Five Families’?
The Warkusian lacrosse community has historically been rather small and insular. Many players, especially at the highest level, come from longstanding lacrosse-playing families. The most noteworthy and influential of these families are known as the ‘five families’. These days the five families include: The Worthingtons, the Hawthornes, the Treharnes, the Cahill-Vaughans and the Bianchis.

The Worthington family have been based in Dinas Wen over the last half century but originally come from Llanwern. The Hawthornes are the other big East Warkusian lacrosse family and can be found in Verdanforest. The Cahill-Vaughan family are based in the Saifiri Isles. In the past, they were two separate lacrosse-playing families – the Cahills and the Vaughans. The Treharne family is the second newest member of the five families, having been recognised as such in the last one hundred and fifty years. The most recently recognised member of the five families are the Bianchis, who are based in Llanwern and filled the hole left by the departure of the Worthingtons.

There have been other members of the five families in the past. As previously mentioned, the Cahills and the Vaughans used to be two distinct families – the former based in Peach Town and the latter based in the Sun Fort. The Aabergs were the only example of a recognised family based in Reuchin, but they became extinct as a result of their younger members dying in the North Rail Incident of 1886.

Why is this significant?
Cahill-Vaughan’s decision to leave his position at Lacrosse Warkus and accept the nomination entails a level of commitment to the World Lacrosse Council and by extension the World Lacrosse Championships. He will be expected to serve for a three cycle term and it is generally accepted that as a matter of convention that, in addition to this, Warkus will participate in the next three editions of the World Lacrosse Championships. Having someone from your nation serve in an executive role in such an organisation is generally, though not always, correlated with an ongoing commitment to the sport and some degree of past or future success. This is why some see Cahill-Vaughan’s election as a move signalling Lacrosse Warkus’s intent to persist with the World Lacrosse Championships. It also signals Lacrosse Warkus’s willingness to do without one of their senior board members, which may indicate that they feel confident in their financial and organisational position without him.

Banijans will welcome Warkus to what should be a raucous home environment on Matchday 6

HERZEGOVINA CITY, MORAVICA- The World Lacrosse Championships, historically the group stages have been a rather sleepy affair- especially for the big boys. They'd cruise through group play, and although maybe a shock loss or two, there wouldn't be much doubt about their ability to actually reach the knockout stages. But this cycle- none of that is true. The Banijans, who are used to winning their groups with ease, are suddenly locked in a 3 way tie for first place in this group- Warkus are top of the table, and Libegeist are right behind them, with Banija in third. That's three different teams tied, at 3-1 each. Of course, it's still earlyish, only 40% of the group stage has been played. But Warkus are a legitimate title contender, and once again, it is a highly skilled tournament debutant, Libegeist, who are giving the Banijans loads of trouble.

At this point- it's those quality debutants that are Banija's achilles heel. All the way back to WLC 35, where HUElavia, at their maiden entry into this tournament, beat us in the Final, a final that we were desperately waiting for- extending our wait for our first WLC championship by a further 5 cycles. Of course, we don't have to go that far back- just last cycle, Harea Odolgarria, who were tournament debutants, won the whole damn thing. And obviously Warkus are not debutants- hell, one of their people is going to be the Vice President of the World Lacrosse Council- but it is just their second tournament, and they dominated us. We should consider it maybe a bit fortunate that we were able to beat Libegeist at home on Matchday 2. But that rematch, surely is not going to be easy- especially traveling away from home.

So what's next for the Banijans? First, the United Marble Tribes. It's a complicated matchup for the Banijans, to be sure. We will be favorites- but, as everyone knows, nothing is promised in a tournament like this. A challenging opponent who have been known to cause problems, it is a game, considering the rest of the group, that might border on a must win. Why? If Libegeist and Warkus keep pacing ahead of us, and we lose this one... We could suddenly find ourselves on the outside looking in. We have not missed the knockout stages of this tournament since WLC 29, which was on home soil- 15 straight appearances in the knockout stages. Finally climb back to #1 in the world, and choke it away on a group stage elimination? Simply cannot allow that to happen.

"A tough game, a hard place to travel to- but we've got confidence in the squad." Said the team's head coach, Birta Tiyana. "We'll need to change things up, keep things fresh- but we'll be ready."

And then, of course, Warkus. For it being their second tournament, we're developing a ton of familiarity. We're in the same group as them, again. So, it'll be the fourth time we've met between WLC 45 and 46- all in the group stages. "Warkus is a team that we've got respect for- getting top 3 in your debut tournament is an impressive feat." Said the team's center, Sana Sanneh. "We know exactly how good they are- they smacked us around pretty good, at their house, on Matchday 1. Ever since that, we've had the return match to Banija circled on our calendars. The game is not passing us by into a new era, not by a long shot- Banija is a permanent fixture in this sport, and proving that to the world will start at Kizza I Field, in Herzegovina City, on Matchday 6."

Big games upcoming- we'll see if the Banijans rule the roost, or if we'll spend the last four matchdays desperately chasing a spot in the knockout stages.

The Less I Know The Better: Autopsy Turvy

CW: Somewhat sexually implicit and in nature for a spoiled part.

She wasn't someone that did Russian cuisine, but when it came to her target, she knew that she couldn't use another prostitute to get close to him. He was very picky with his choices, so Belladonna had to be the one to do the job herself. Say the right stuff to act like she will follow every whim that he gives her. Her target was busy with a phone call, lounging back at his chair with a golden chain around his neck. His hands were retching of hand sanitizer, much to Belladonna's confusion.

Naturally, she knew what he wanted from her. He wanted sex. Sex with a fantasy in store. He made the arrangements on the phone, when he was thinking that he was getting himself a woman to satisfy himself, but he didn't realize that Belladonna was there for him.

Anyone that went against what Belladonna had in mind, they were punished.

After dinner, her target brought her back to his apartment to which he made it clear to her to get the nurse outfit on. It wasn't even a nurse uniform from the nearby hospital, it was more of the risque nurse costumes for Halloween parties. One that made her chest more visible. Whatever, she knew what she was here to do. She had brought her bag along with some instruments. She did find the meat tenderizer in her victim's kitchen and saw the benefits.

She went into the living room to see what he was up to, only to see him already in the hospital gown. "I'm here for my physical..." he said, lounging on his couch, though Belladonna gave a smile to him. A smile that hid her desire to kill him. That was until she showed him the duct tape. "It looks like the hospital is undergoing a code black. Anesthesia is limited, so how about we get you into a more comfortable position." Belladonna said, managing to get his guard down, so she can bind his hands and legs down.

"Now, what will your safe word be?" she said, as she was showing him the medical tongs. There was a nod of approval from him.

All she needed to do was get it under his gown...

It was the first time that she heard the word "banking" be used for a safe word.

He kept saying it multiple times, until all it lead to was just screaming.

It wasn't screams of pleasure, either.

She used her instruments with specific motions, before she finished it up with a blow to the head with the meat tenderizer. She might have accidently tugged too hard on his crotch.

"What do we have?" Ron Highmore said, checking in with his supervisor at the intelligence agency Oversight Securities and Services. He rather not be forced to do any more tasks that had to do with sewer searching. Not that he cared about the smell that he got from it, he knew what shampoos to take. It was getting all scratched up from the lack of infrastructure from underground.

"The death of an informant. We know that the fixers are involved, but there is something more." his supervisor said, being at his desk, as Ron looked over the information. "Your main objective is to determine a possible mole within the country. Our informant was in the middle of verifying this information before the fixers got him. As of now, you are to have the fixers turn over any information that they have obtained and grant it to us."

Ron scoffed at knowing the deal.

"Great. Which fixer are we dealing with?"
"Belladonna. A woman matching her profile was sighted at a Russian place back at Fairfax, where our informant was killed." the supervisor slipped a file out from a drawer to give to Ron. "Have you and your partner look over the information to contact her to arrange a meeting. We cannot let things get messy out there."

Ron had to arrange a meeting by the riverside at a subway station. A decent amount of people and it allowed Belladonna to blend in. Still, there was something strange at being inside of a subway station that was all yellow colored. A subway train went by, as Ron Highmore and his partner Frank Widdicombe were pretending to watch for their own train. Frank nudged at Ron's shoulder, when he saw her come.

"There she is."

Ron did admit. When there was a fixer that went by the name of Belladonna, he assumed that she would be beautiful as she was deadly. The nickname she gave herself held up well. Short chin-length blonde hair. Icy cold blue eyes. Black lipstick. Wide hips. A dress that sparkled in a reddish-pink. A pearl necklace with a crocodile skin bag. She knew who the agents were and she knew what they came for.

Ron moved his hand down to his pocket, where his gun was hidden.

"Gentlemen." Belladonna said softly, standing next to them, acting as if she was also waiting for the train. "To what do I owe the pleasure for the OSS?" Belladonna cooed to see if one of them would let their guards down.

"We know that it was you that killed one of our own at Fairfax. We do not care about him, in general. We just know that you came to get something from him." Ron made it clear to her, though she was not intimidated.

"Termination is my business, but I do not want to make things difficult for your legal eagles. Yes, that was me that got rid of him, but you managed to give me an excuse to give you gentlemen, this." Belladonna slipped something from her purse and into Ron's hand. It was a memory drive. "Snatched this from his office. I was tailing him to see if he had any involvement with some traffickers that would be bad for the nation's economy, but it appears that you are giving him more resources than I thought."

"It's a national security thing. We can't let the Homeland Security Agency get involved." Frank mentioned to her, though she knew the whole score with the HSA.

"Calm down. I know the whole deal with HSA. I think you should be careful on which informants you hire next time." Belladonna said, until a train arrived in front of them. Those that were on the train had exited within a crowd, as Belladonna snuck through with those that were awaiting the train. "Catch you later, gentlemen."

Ron took a look at the memory drive that Belladonna gave him. He slipped it to Frank.

"You think it's something?" Frank asked him.
"Belladonna may be a psychopath, but she knows that when the government gets involved, she grants us something to get us off of her back." Ron said.
"I send this off to HQ to see what is on. This conservation has never happened." Frank said, with the two men departing the other way.

Ron left through another train, making sure that no one was following him. He was within another part of the transit, until there was a woman in distress while pacing around in the station. "No no no..." she didn't look like someone who was a local. A tourist, perhaps? Maybe from one of the other cities?

"Something's wrong, ma'am?" Ron made sure that she didn't see the gun.
"I lost my suitcase! I was trying to see which stop I was on, but I left it on the train!" she said to him, though he wasn't too concerned.
"I'm sure that they will take your bag to lost and found."
"No, there was this scarf that I put in there! It was a gift from my mother and now it's gone!"

"Hey, maybe I can try to get in touch with someone. See if someone has found it. People get cautious when people leave their bags behind." Ron said, knowing his experience in suitcase and backpack bombs. "You wanna come?" Ron offered her hand.

She decided to take it.

Frank Widdicombe sent the memory drive over to HQ, while he was having dinner with a girlfriend of his own. Though, afterwards, he had her take her hair down, since he thought it looked better for her than with a hairpin. Two texts appeared on Frank's phone. One from Ron, which he texted from a hotel room, to which he was getting to know that tourist woman he was with. The other text was from HQ. They were still checking on the contents of the memory drive, but there was a person of interest. Frank saw the picture attachment in the text. A bald man with a tattoo of numbers around his eye.

Somewhere else, among the glam of the nightclub, in which a rave night was happening, the same man was there. No hair on his head and a tattoo of numbers around his eye. He passed through the dance floor, to which someone gave him a glance. He gave a glance back, before he vanished among the dancing revelers.

Coach Wesley Hasbel --- Team spirits are up thanks to support of fans.

We secured our second victory, but still 4 losses. For Coach Hasbel, having another loss means our survival is over.

For now there will be an estimate of 25 million fans in Busoga, with 10 million more to come.

"We need the support of the people," said Coach Hasbel. "The people are a symbol of unity and passion."

MD 5:
Tomerion 4–18 HUElavia

MD 6:
Nusandara 4–9 HUElavia

Rolling Through The Competition!

HUElavia continues their good streak imposing over Tomerion and Nusandara to edge closer and closer to a knockouts berth!

Entering the midway point of the WLC, HUElavia was on a very surprising roll in their matches. 4-0, have the 12th best offense in the tournament, but the 3rd best defense up to this point, Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos were playing a lot better than one would anticipate. Even with that, the team knew they could not let off the pedal. There was this desire in the team to continue showing their might throughout the matches and prove they were worthy to be viewed as one of the best in Lacrosse throughout the Multiverse. While one would say that they were favorites in these matches that were coming up, the players still had the mentality to take it a game at a time and dominate throughout the game.

The first game was HUElavia's best win in the tournament, best since Matchday 1 against Nusandara. HUElavia obliterated debutants Tomerion in a blowout 18-4 routing that was a fantastic performance from the get-go. Atenas had a double hat-trick as he was leading the score, followed by hat-tricks from Yanovna and Vina, and braces from Avellaneda, Jelani, and Noia to round out the 18 goals the team scored. 7 assists from Jelani and 4 from a surprise performance from Curichimba in defense getting all those assists. It was a great high point for the team entering the 2nd half of the Group Stage. The second game had Nusandara learning from their beatdown on Matchday 1 and playing a more defensive game against HUElavia. Despite the efforts, a hat-trick from Becerra, braces from Vina and Cao and single goals from Komori and Aris were enough for the team to get a 9-4 win, once again, conceding very little goals.

With the two victories, HUElavia still sits in 1st with a 6-0 record, having the 6th best offense, but 1st overall defense in the tournament. Despite having such a horrible blowout loss, Tomerion sits in 2nd with a 4-2 record, followed by Nusandara in 3rd with a 3-3 record. Veritas Project is in 4th with a 2-4 record and surprisingly Sarzonia is in 5th with a 2-4 record, with The Golden Harp sitting in 6th with their 1-5 record. HUElavia take on Sarzonia and The Golden Harp for the next two games, where a single victory should clinch HUElavia a spot into the knockouts with games to spare. While these are the two strongest opponents for Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos in the group, with how the team is playing, they're confident they can get the job done and make a statement on their value to this tournament. On to the next!

Close but not the Fish
Jags halt winning streak of the Red Gophers in tumultuous third quarter

Despite suffering their first loss of the group phase, there are a lot of positives to take away from the confrontation at Meisters Field for coach Warner and his still inexperienced crew. Their opening match triumph in Deganawidah felt a long time ago but it was clear that the TJUN-ian team had learned their lesson after that game and the number five of the world flew over to Anewkansas with a different playbook and a tickled motivation. While on paper, this game could be an early decider for the number one position of group C, this was mainly a litmus test for Anewkansas’ success so far: just a lucky series or a genuine basis to make an impact when traveling to the Busoga Islands? Based upon what Warner’s troops cooked up last night, we are leaning to the latter even if the Jaguars handed out a masterclass in precision when it mattered.

Our national team stepped onto the pitch with their confidence at a zenith. The previous confrontation with the Qyzzyxzyan Draconic Territories saw the Red Gophers take the win both at the physical, technical and mental aspect of the game. Whiner and nitpickers might claim that the opposition ran out of steam earlier due to the lack of selection depth, but we must take that the rotation options developed over the games as a positive, as all but Gaumont had returned from the sick bay. (The Panthers’ forward should rejoin the squad for the next window.) Additionally, quite a few goals came from routines set out by the coaching staff, something which shows the increasing cohesion within the team. Last but not least was the impact from the crowd, who came up with an ingenious plan with the score at 11-9 at the end of the third quarter. Their chants of Papa Pepe initially only dismayed one of their coaches but once they got the rest of the audience to fall in, other loyalists of the Pavlian Order lost their focus. Goalkeeper Frater Pepino even started to explain the merits of his canonical insights to bystanders, which made him lose sight of some sharp counterattacks from the Red Gophers. Distracted and divided, the Draconic selection fell by 19 to 10.

Similar mischief would be impossible with the more professional Jaguars but with over eight thousands supporters for the booming Gophers, it is fair to call the public interest once more a success. As they had done in the opening game of the campaign, the team chose for a physical defensive plan with a high turnover in substitutions and the occasional under-the-radar fault at the expense of the TJUN-ian selection. The visitors responded by playing further away from the goal of Frost. While they dominated in terms of chances created, only a low percentage of them found the target and when they did, Brady Frost stood tall. The goaltender of the Anewkansan selection might have his weaknesses but as a shotstopper, he stands more than his ground. At the opposite end, the team created little but there always is a Shawn Lavarre goal to rely on and Keith Lim had his best match of the campaign with two delightful strikes. The 4-3 lead for the Red Gophers was flattered but not less of a fact.

Realising that a second road loss in a row against group underdogs might start to impact his position, TJUN-ian manager Ty Halftown pushed his chips on the table and his players back into the danger zone. The game became a bit more physical again and contrary to the previous leg, the refereeing crew did not let the defenders get away with it. Both Francis, Hartman and Simon spend some time in the penalty box but it would be too easy to blame the powerplays for the shift in the score: it already was 4-6 when Francis got called out for cross-checking. Shonwahnonkon Sundown led the charge for the Jaguars with four points in total, supported by youngster Douglas Higgins (2G, 2A). By the time the dust had settled, the game had slipped from the hands of the Red Gophers to 4-9. To their credit, they did attempt to drag themselves back into it in the last quarter. A fast and spectacular strike from Moises Cano left open the suggestion of a remontada for the final fourteen minutes but in the end, the TJUN-ians left few opportunities for Warner and his team to pull that stunt.

And so, Anewkansas suffered their first loss but showed themselves a respectable opponent for a team many had considered to be far superior in advance. As the team left Meisters Field with a heartwarming and well-deserved applause, coach Warner praised his Red Gophers. “It might be a strange thing to say, but in some ways, this was our best game so far. When we visited TJUN-ia, we saw an opponent that was not yet at full strength and we caught them out. Now this top team came here with all guns blazing and we made them work for it.” It might be manager's motivation, in line with his calming down of the expectations after previous wins, but Warner’s words were not entirely unfounded. Six games in, the Red Gophers have surprisingly presented themselves as a side to keep track of and now the goal is to confirm the knock-out qualification as fast as possible. The visit to Devonta’s High Tree Sporting Arena could come in early for that but the hope is that a home win against the incalculable Apalatci might seal the deal.

hey everybody... ik my older sister @dryhatyuna has already advanced to another level in the Cenian Open based on what I saw on the tmrw.today livestream of that match between her and that Nithya Raj person from Indusse and... I'm glad she managed to defeat the odds against her :) hope this will lead to those of y'all participating in Tomerion's team for WLC46 being even more motivated to maintain that top 2 position (and potentially even become top 1 again there)...

(and btw I've already signed up to be part of the women's skeleton in the upcoming 20th Multiversal Winter Olympics in Liventia so... good luck to me ig :P)

Got confirmation earlier today from the Kaveh Mohammadi Hospital in Lakiska (where I was hospitalized for quite a while) that I've recovered from that food poisoning incident at the House of Salmanzadeh along with one of my homies (@taylorzyeung_y2k) and nearly everyone else who was there for breakfast on the same day as mine...

So it's no surprise then that another of my homies (@itoheunice) volunteered to take a photo of me and Taylor after we both got discharged along with her bouquet of flowers :)

good technique? bad technique? whatever... I don't rlly mind rn cos I bought myself some corndogs before returning to my dormitory :P

also on a more match-related note I still can't forget that time when I ended up being ejected during the TMR vs HUE match alongside Yusa Komori from HUE for the fact that both of us argued with the referee who was there over some pro-life BS... at least none of us got suspended from our respective teams so

The Lacrosse Lamentations
with Reagan Lucero

Man, it almost feels like it was just yesterday that I got the job of carrying on the legacy of The Lacrosse Lamentations from the one and only Aisling Keane, and now the group stage of the 46th World Lacrosse Championships is more than halfway through. Of course, at this stage, everyone wants to see our own country get through to the next round without a single loss to their name but that’s not always possible. I mean, have you seen how many new faces there are just in the coaching staff? Like, the SLA literally just went “Burn it down!” and now we’ve got Hannah Jurtanek in charge of the Amazons. Now I’m not trying to stir things up or anything, but personally, I’m still not sure if Hannah is the right woman for the job. Don’t get me wrong, I like Hannah. She’s got a much more impressive resume than I have, but isn’t it a very big leap going from coaching a college team to coaching the national team? Because that’s what Hannah was doing before the SLA hired her, coaching the Orange University Tigers before her “big break” taking over the Amazons. Again, I’m not trying to disparage her. I’m really not. It just feels weird to me, is all.

I suppose it’s just normal for anyone to get some nerves and jitters when it’s their first day in a job, any job. I wouldn’t know if I would actually be proud of Hannah or call her out for lying if she had said that she wasn’t nervous when she took charge of her first official game for the Amazons. Of course, it doesn’t help if the team loses what was widely expected to be an easy win against Natkr, but again, I’m not sure if we should blame Hannah for losing that game or not. She’s just the easiest to blame because she’s the one whose face is out there the most simply by virtue of being the national team’s head coach, but Hannah’s face also isn’t the only one that’s new out there! Remember, the SLA blew up the entire coaching unit because of what happened in the last WLC and placed all new people in there. Look, there’s no shame at all in losing to TJUN-ia, all right? I just wanna make that clear. The real shame, at least as far as the SLA was concerned, was the fact that the Amazons got themselves knocked out in the Round of 12. Yeah, from that point of view, I can definitely see why someone with some power in the SLA would want to burn it all down and get rid of everything in order to have a fresh start. How many years have we been trying to win “lucky number seven,” huh? How many girls and boys, men and women have come and gone in the name of this quest? I don’t know, but I was definitely part of that group that tried and failed to bring that seventh chip home.

Oh, no. Here I go again getting myself sidetracked by the things that come to my mind. I promised myself I was not going to let this happen after so many times but it just keeps happening! Maybe it’s a sign that I really shouldn’t try to fight it anymore. But I’m also trying to give some sort of analysis about the games that the Amazons have played in the WLC, so I can’t always let my intrusive thoughts win all the time! Unless that’s exactly the reason why The Lacrosse Lamentations took off the way that it did, but surely not. You’re all here because of the hard-hitting analysis that only the likes of Graham O’Doherty and Aisling Keane can give, right? Right? Oh, goodness me, what have I gotten myself into? All she said was she needed someone with some lacrosse knowledge to come in and fill in for her when the time comes!

Okay, Reagan, get a grip on yourself. You have to do what they’re paying you to do now. Okay, now where was I? First game, first loss against Natkr. I mean, that one really came out of the blue, didn’t it? Or did it really? The Amazons have not been playing at their best ever since the previous WLC, which is why I can honestly say that I wasn’t really that surprised anymore that the Amazons lost their opener in the Busoga Islands. I don’t know how I know, and I can’t really explain it. I’m really tempted to say “just trust me on this one” right now, and I’m really fighting hard against it, although you could probably say I already did. Look, all I’m trying to say is that there definitely was a chance that the Amazons were going to lose their first game of the tournament, and that’s exactly what happened. Now how and why did it happen? I’m not sure that I’m really qualified to do any of the unpacking for this, but that’s not gonna stop me from trying. And… I got nothing. I’m not really sure who’s to blame for this L, or if there is anyone to blame in the first place.

All right, fine. I’m going to take the bait that’s been hanging right in front of me from the very start. Did Hannah Jurtanek make the team lose? Definitely not! Not accidentally, and definitely not on purpose like I’ve seen some of the more stupid members of social media kept circulating over the past couple of days. Hannah’s a competitor, something that the terminally online probably can’t understand, so of course they’re gonna say that she threw this game on purpose when it’s clearly just not true! I mean, just think about it! What kind of coach or manager in their right mind is going to willingly throw their very first game in charge of a team if there’s no money involved at all?! Now I’m not saying that Hannah lost because of money or gambling or whatever. What I’m trying to say is that Hannah Jurtanek simply had no reason to want to lose her very first game in charge of the Amazons. Just think about it from her perspective: the SLA has decided that the Amazons needed new management in order to finally get that elusive seventh title, and they’ve picked you for the job. Surely the first thing you’re gonna wanna do is to impress your bosses and prove that they made the right choice by winning your very first game in charge! Ah, now I think I get it. I now get why the noisiest and dumbest people on social media can come up with some really backwards takes. The very same people who peddle this bullshit about Hannah Jurtanek intentionally throwing her very first game in charge of the Amazons are the very same people who have very clearly not worked a single day of their lives. These people clearly believe that working only involves doing your work when you feel like doing it and then walking away whenever it suits you. I mean, hello! Aside from the million other reasons why it’s simply impossible for Hannah Jurtanek to have thrown our very first game in WLC 46 against Natkr intentionally or not, how is a loss on opening day gonna get us any closer to winning lucky number seven, huh? Anyone out there care to answer me on that? If you do, there’s a comments section down below. I’ve been told that I have to plug that somewhere in case people actually forget we have a comments section. God, why are some people just so fucking dumb?

So if the coach isn’t to blame then who is? The players? That’s a bit unfair on them, don’t you think? Just like what I said about the coaches, I really don’t think there’s a single player out there who actually wants the Amazons to lose their first match in the WLC. And before someone says it in the comments… No, I don’t believe that there’s anyone in the team who’s got some money on Abanhfleft’s opener ending in a loss, so get that gambling BS out of here. I can’t really vouch for anyone else not placing any sort of bets about the national team, but I can assure you, back in my day that shit would never fly. “Oh, here goes Granny Reagan reminiscing about the good old days again!” Just cut it out, will you? There’s no other way for me to get the point across without using the words “back in my day”! You just wait until you start using it in your conversations as well. It happened to me. It’ll happen to you!

No, but in all seriousness, if the coach isn’t to blame for the loss against Natkr, then should it really go to the players? Before anyone else answers that question, think about this first: does anyone in the team actually deserve the blame? There are twenty players in the national team that made the trip to the Busoga Isles, twenty players who may or may not actually be at fault for the Amazons tripping up in the first match of the Hannah Jurtanek era. Is there a woman or a man there who actually deserves to have all the fingers pointed at them? Those of us who are very quick to judge will immediately point to the likes of Mae Sangalang or Leilani Horacio as being the ones responsible for Abanhfleft losing the game, and much as I hate to admit it, these people may actually have a point. From a certain point of view, at least. In the grand scheme of things, you can’t really blame either one of Mae or Leilani for the loss since these things don’t always come down to the actions (or lack thereof) of one or two players. But since they were the two players who had the last two chances to put the Amazons back on level terms and failed to do so, it’s practically inevitable that they’re gonna get blamed. But really, I believe that’s a little bit harsh. Just a little bit and not very harsh? Eh, it depends on the person handing out the blame. Some just say, “She couldn’t score the tying goal” and go on with their day, hence just a little bit harsh. Others go all in with claims of gambling or match-fixing or whatever, hence very harsh.

Where am I going with this? I’ll tell you all soon, but first, how about a story? Let’s go back to my time with the Calfragilis Scarlets because this was something I’ve witnessed myself. We were playing the Presbyterian University of Olistan and we needed to win against the Rockhoppers, although this was more for pride rather than anything else. Even if we beat PUO, we weren’t going to get into the conference championship or a spot in the national playoffs, but we could finish with a .500 record if we could beat the Hoppers. Much like the first game between Abanhfleft and Natkr, the score was 12-12 with only a minute left in the fourth period. Scarlets attackers were passing the ball around, trying to find a gap in the Hoppers so we could score the winning goal. Eventually, the ball finds its way to a freshman who had just come on as a substitute, and she has a great shot at the opposing net. All she really needs to do now is take the shot and the Scarlets are going to win without having to go to overtime. For a moment, she actually looks like she’s going to take the shot, even if it is some distance away from the crease and such. But this poor girl chickens out, passes the ball to her teammate who actually takes the shot, which ends up being an easy save for the opposing goalie. We would end up losing the game in overtime, and that poor girl who had the great shot to win the game got an earful for not taking it. She got stick from the coach, from the assistant, from her teammates, even from the janitor who cleaned up the locker room after the game. All in all, it wasn’t a really nice experience.

Now why am I telling you all this story? And what’s this got to do with the Amazons losing to Natkr? Okay, first off, I’m gonna come clean. The girl in the story I just told you all was me. I was the freshman who had a great shot to win the game for Calfragilis, and I didn’t take it. I chickened out and passed it off to Win-win Salazar because I didn’t think that I should be taking that kind of a shot since long shots weren’t really my specialty. Never have been, never will be. But maybe I should have tried training to take them at least once or twice because not taking that shot almost made me not want to continue playing lacrosse anymore. Then maybe I wouldn’t have gotten yelled at by my teammates for not being brave enough to take the team’s fate into my own hands. At the same time though, the coaches and even the janitor were calmer about the situation than my teammates. Yeah, I was a freshman, but I didn’t need these things to be hammered into my head the way my teammates did. Sometimes, a calm telling-off or two could actually work more wonders than shouting and yelling ever can.

So what’s the point that I’m trying to make here? My point is that the blame game is a game that all of us play at least once in our lives. Some of us definitely play it many, many more times than others. And after the Amazons lost to Natkr, a lot of us began playing it with the aim of making either one of Mae Sangalang or Leilani Horacio the loser just because they didn’t do something a lot of us wanted them to do. Either one of them might have had a reason why they didn’t take the shot. It doesn’t matter if that reason isn’t good enough for the rest of us, so long as it’s good enough for them. What I guess I’m trying to say here is that we the fans shouldn’t go in too hard on our girls and boys. Mistakes are always going to happen. There’s no use getting angry over something that’s already happened. We’re all better off moving on and supporting our Amazons so that they don’t end up making the same mistakes once again and cost us all the game…

Oh, no. Oh, goodness me. I’ve done it again, haven’t I? I’ve trauma-dumped on all you poor people once again, haven’t I? It’s just that this thing with Mae and Laelani really caught me off-guard and brought back memories of my college freshman days, memories that I thought I’d already forgotten and moved on from. And now it looks like I won’t have the time to talk about the second match between Natkr and our Amazons in the World Lacrosse Championships. I swear, this time is gonna be the last time I do this. But this time it’s actually for real! I promise, the next time I talk about the WLC, it’ll be more about the actual game than memories of my career. Promise.
