I'm fine with that. The U.S. will be furious that Egypt launched a full-scale invasion without even giving Congress a heads-up, and it will therefore be willing to pressure the Ptolemies toward a negoatiated solution. There are ways to erode the Lagos Pact without risking nuclear war - the U.S. has been working on that for decades, and it's why there were already American advisors in Ethiopia - but this ain't it.

Military:

The Confederate Military is robust for a regional power and has a sizable budget of 69 million. The primary function of the military has been focused on the various Narco-separatist threats and other rebellious forces since the creation of the Confederation. In fact the unification of a jointly organized and funded military to better quash Cartels is considered a major reason for the foundation of the Confederation in the first place.

The military is a primarily defensive and counter insurgency force, though it does have some units created for more wide ranging operations even volunteering forces for security and humanitarian missions abroad.

The branches of the military are the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Public Security.

Public Security: Public Security has several aspects, Federal Police, Intelligence Services, Customs and Immigration enforcement, and lastly the GNE or Grupo de Neutralizacion Estrategica or Strategic Neutralization Group. This highly controversial force is perhaps the most effective tool in the ongoing Narco and Separatist conflicts as it specifically targets leadership and locations of these groups utilizing a doctrine of terror warfare not dissimilar from their targets. (Inspired by BOPE)

History:

Early to Mid 1980s: Transnational Cartels across Mexico and Central America have been rapidly expanding in power and influence. Weak regional coordination and corruption allows for the criminal groups to exploit the local populace and violate borders. In 1986 the first proposals for extensive joint anti-cartel task forces, intelligence sharing, and even coordinated customs and economic policies began surfacing.

Late 1980s: Regional economic instability and debt crises deepen national weaknesses causing separatists and insurgent movements to reemerge in peripheral regions many of which either become puppets or at least associated with cartels. These same Cartels expand their influence inside national governments while altogether acting as parallel governments in some regions.

Early 1990s: The first informal summits between Mexico, Guatemala, and Panama occur. By 1993 Joint Naval patrols in the pacific are jointly tested as well as Cross-Border military training exchanges which remain largely out of the public eye though not officially classified.

Mid 1990s: Cartel Violence escalates dramatically and several governments lose effective control of interior regions with many governments being outright indistinguishable from Cartel puppets. By 1998 Public opinion has heavily swung away from national sovereignty toward pragmatic regional solutions.

November 10th 1999: Mexico, Guatemala, and Panama sign the Security and Economic Cooperation Accord which is framed as trade harmonization, intelligence sharing, and joint counter-cartel operations. This is essentially the formation of the Proto-Confederation.

July 2000: A coup attempt destabilizes Honduras leading to troops deploying from Mexico, Guatemala, and Panama jointly identifying and cooperating as Confederation Forces for the first time, they are deployed at the invitation of the Honduran Elected government in exile. A brutal bombing campaign by the coup forces leads to further national collapse in Honduras as well as heavy destruction inside Mexico City as the government in exile was targeted. By August twelfth Confederation forces have largely occupied Honduras and restored relative order and by August 27th a referendum is called under security supervision. Honduras officially elects to join the Confederation with this being recognized largely as the point that the Confederation truly begins taking form.

October 2000: Soon after the conflict in Honduras begins to die down, conflict with Nicaragua begins igniting into skirmishes. Confederation Intelligence confirms the harboring of known Narco-Terrorist leadership and actively protecting Cartel logistics corridors. The skirmishes quickly spill over into open war which is short and decisive. Under pressure from the Confederation military and rampant corruption and rebellion against Cartel backed leadership, Nicaragua’s government collapses leading to another referendum held under Confederation Occupation. International groups suspect foul play in the referendum that follows but there is no official claim of wrongdoing and Nicaragua is annexed into the Confederation.

2001: Much of the solidification of the new Confederate Government occurs at this time. It is interrupted by the ongoing conflicts with cartels spread across Confederation territory. National Identities begin to erode as more and more of administration and government is handled by the Confederation rather than member state governments. The Confederate government and military are both formalized during this time making the Confederation a truly cohesive nation even if it is plagued by growing pains like Cartels and ongoing separatist and nationalist movements.

Early 2002: Surrounded by the success of the Confederation, El Salvador invites Confederation troops and humanitarian aid to help combat rampant criminal and gang elements. Within months there is a steep decline of urban violence however there are several international organizations decrying the draconian and militant methods used.

December 2002: El Salvador is formally admitted as a member of the Confederation.

November 2004: With rising Internal unrest and economic pressure as well pressures from the Confederation Costa Rica reluctantly joins the Confederation forming a corridor of Confederation territory bridging the North and South American Continents and leaving only Belize as a non-member state.

July 2005: Alejandro Tomas Ibarra Calderon is elected Federal Protector and his National Restoration Block dominates the Confederation government. They run on a campaign to bolster the security of the Confederation and minimize the influence of the ostensibly corrupt and outdated state government apparatus that remains.

2005-2015: There is a massive expansion of the Confederate Armed forces gradually as well as the Public Security and Intelligence Services forces of the government. Many Cartels fragment or go into a more underground approach in response to this expansion of the armed forces and the power of the executive to counter them. This inadvertently also leads to the Confederation having an international reputation for brutality and bloodlust despite its effectiveness.

2015-2020: The last remains of the old governments are largely absorbed by the Confederation with Calderon’s role increasingly dominant and the executive branch of the government becoming incredibly powerful over the rest of the governmental body. Opposition is tolerated but it is heavily constrained through the state media. Separatist movements spark and are frequently crushed only to spark up gain. Cartels and criminal elements often work with these separatist movements out of need of allies against the Confederation Forces.

2025: Calderon wins his fourth term election but it is by an incredibly narrow margin. Similarly the NRB only remains a slim majority in the legislature body. There are starting to be signs of serious political fatigue with Calderon and his supporters with debates about Calderon being a dictator becoming more commonplace only fueling the separatist movements. Despite that Calderon is immensely popular with the police and military though his actual voter supporter base is becoming increasingly regionalized.

Emile rubbed the sweat out of his eye as he tried to keep himself focused. Colonel Padilla was taking her sweet time inside with the men from the GNE unit. The thought of the Linea Negra and their methods made a shiver run down the young officer's spine despite the heat and humidity. No one wanted to work with those psychos, there were stories about officers that got dragged into more and more operations that included them and it never ended well.

"Ey, Jorda. How long did they say we were supposed to be here?" One of Emile's fellow Public Security officers asked.

He didn't respond. The idiot knew that they were stuck here until Padilla was content. That or the poor bastards that they had caught trying to smuggle guns and cash through the exclusion zone would finally keel over. Emile grimaced faintly at that thought. He knew better. GNE could keep a man alive for as long as they wanted while doing the kind of things to him that no one should survive. He'd helped in the clean up following GNE ops before an it was always the same. Better to burn it all than try and actually clean anything.

"Captain Jorda! Lets load up the men we have a location!" Padilla said as she limped out of the shanty building and on toward the up-armored truck. Her personal GNE bodyguards followed after her.

"You heard her, load up!" Emile bellowed as he dove into his own truck and slammed the door closed behind him. Anything was better than sitting here running security for the GNE killers.

No, it will be a limited humanitarian operation in Rostock. Possible further evacuations in Stralsund and other major population centers. There will be a huge backlash in media against the rescue operetion now its clear that several prison guards were killed, so the government will be very cautious with anything too rash from here on. And we will roleplay the government wanting to come up with a coordinated way forward with US and China.

I got no plan to fight the Dutch, it’s gonna be something Prussia is gonna begrudgingly allow but sooner or later it’s going to be ty and get the Dutch to leave once things cool down

Perhaps we can discuss how the rostock battle will go- the rebels have been fortifying for weeks so a grinding fight will be on, and shelling / rubble will create defensive positions for the defenders making it hard for vehicles to support. Bit like monte cassino maybe

Same here, I was thinking that The FSA would cross the border and Prussia would basically give them the full green light to go crazy as a form of retribution for the Berlin attack. Such an attack could include a hostage situation while the main effort is just the FSA on a revenge mission in Pro Prussian areas basically daring a harsh crackdown to be like “See they hate us” that Prussia uses in propaganda and the like.

Also if there is a governmental hostage situation I take it would mean a government building? Which would probably be extra embarrassing, especially if it goes like the actual Moscow theatre situation
