• Raedlon Regional Football Federation expands to include the states of the Four Passages and northeast West Mesder Ocean
• Mesder Sea Football Confederation (to be renamed something along the lines of Novan Football Alliance) encompasses Australis and the islands of the Nova and southern Mesder Ocean.
• Gael Football Association expands, reincorporating San Jimenez, Townside, and Najimam
• Southern Sea Football Association and Confederation of Eternan Football Associations reform Confederation of Eastern Football Associations (until such a time comes to split them again)

Welcome all to the planning for the 2026 Western Isles Cup, the annual football tournament exclusively for nations in The Western Isles (TWI). To be sure that everybody sends their appropriate sportive professionals: this sport concerns the TWI equivalent of so called association football, as opposed to other varieties that may or may not exist in the TWI universe. This OOC thread is the place where nations can apply their teams to participate, to ask any questions, make comments, register concerns, and for the tournament schedule and more of such business.

This is an interregional competition, with the best national teams of the Isles convening to clash for ultimate bragging rights, national pride, and footballing supremacy in this not-to-miss football event!

Peter Jo Hing: Captain of the Wanganoan National Team. He also one of the Wangano’s Most talented players and is a very good striker. He won the Golden Boot for most Scored Goals at last Years IFAF Isles Cup in Wangano.
Jouna Dai Xinga: Jouna Dai Xinga is the Wanganoan Premier League’s Golden Boot winner from the last two seasons. He could also be a very vital player at this tournament.
Adam Mendoza: Is a very key defender who is known to get a little aggressive at times due to the fact that he is infamous for getting Red Cards.
Gordon Gillespie: Gillespie is one of two new recruits to the Wanganoan National Team. He has come in to replace Michael Belan who won’t be available for the Isles Cup this year due to injury. Gillespie is an up and coming player and has shown great leadership at Sporting Unos.
Nathan Li: Nathan Li is an exciting young player who scored at the last Isles Cup in a match against Hanselans. He also won player of the tournament in the 2023 Wangano Cup as well as he helped get Sporting Unos (his team at the time) get to the Semi Finals.

The Wanganoan Men’s National Team will be returning for this year’s Isles Cup after finishing second place and hosting the last tournament.

• Notable Players and Narrative: Historically isolated and cut-off from international football until the early 2000's, the Rahvee National Football Team has long languished in the shadow of it's regional peers, particularly when facing global contenders in Wangano, Elenai, and Tara Ika. Despite the team's perennial underdog status, "the Jungle" is consistently one of the most rabidly dedicated fan communities in the Confederation of Eastern Football Associations, and indeed the whole of Terrine. A reputation that has earned them notoriety for what some might call hooliganism, others a healthy amount of passion for their team.
  
  For this year’s IFAF Cup, the Beasts from the East are leaning into their underdog status and looking to catch Terrine’s football heavyweights off guard. Their biggest move so far is the signing of Wangano Premier League legend and former PK Lezen manager Chang Liuang, who is expected to guide the teams rising generation of young players like striker Ereb Li’inar, midfielder Tano Vannak, and goalkeeper Batur “Boulder” Proshti. If things click, Rahv could be on course for their best IFAF Cup run yet. And who knows, they may even find themselves challenging title contenders like Wangano, led by Chang Liuang’s domestic rival, Eric Wong Lu.

Defenders Ogata Negobegojo and Lase Gahaegehe are suspected to be members of Hedesexe Todere and to have taken part in foreign operations of that organization.
Midfielder Erebo Beloxexosele is married to the prefect of Borojama. Aside from being an influential politician (and being almost 20 years older than Erebo), his husband is also a writer of children's books and Erebo has drawn the covers of some of those.
Forward Wota Xalajajato is in a relationship with one of the singers of Woesasa, the feminist idol/metal group that represented Watao in the song contest.

Christer Drakenberg, Johan Hedman, and the Merry Men of Ekaterinaberg United - There is some enthusiasm, both for domestic football and the national team, for the first time in a while. Why? Ekaterinaberg United pulled off an ironman season, going unbeaten in the Talvistovan Football League for the first time since the 50's. As a result, their manager, Johan Hedman, was brought on, and league MVP (and rookie on last years national team) 23 year old Christer Drakenberg now has a staring Role. Various other Queen's Men dot the roster (Kinnunen and Pesonen in the revamped midfield, Palander, VIllanen and Partanen elsewhere)

Why is there only one of you up front now? - One of the biggest headlines this season was the retirement of Hector Eivisson. The all time leading scorer in the TFL, and only man to score for the Reindeer in the 2025 tournament, hung up the cletes after the domestic league season wrapped up 2 weeks before christmas, leaving a huge hole in the heart of the national football landscape. With that, the lack of domestic striker talent that isnt the blindingly fast triggerman from the Pheng Eagles David Hellquist, and the new manager, they've moved from the usual 4-1-2-1-2 to the new man's preferred formation, an aggressive 4-2-3-1.

Notable Players: Football has become more and more popular in Hanselans, but the level is still undeniably somewhat below most other national leagues. The Hanselanic top division, the Yfstadeild, is known as a place where aging players from abroad go to play professionally for a few extra years past their prime, or players from lower divisions in other nations coming to Hanselans to play in the top league.

The starter lineup for the 2026 Western Isles Cup has seven foreign-born players. Ašta Varkenke (29) and Dažan Bašra (25) from Takiv, Izumi Yuichi (33) from Yunogaku, Toby McKilroy (36) from Corkair, Marcus Bradshaw (23) from Great Altera, Nicolau Imodo (31) from Baumes, and Jaulino Quientas (37) from Wangano. Quientas, legendary in his homeland for his time with clubs like Sporting Tangara Phei, Highlander and Athletic Lezen, has come out of retirement to be the goalkeeper for the Blizzard Beasts.

For the Hanselanic players, Knattfélag Rósaborg (RFC) from Surtr, which has won the Hanselanic Yfstadeild-cup for the last three years, is represented on the national team by eight players, three on the starting lineup: Haraldr Brattbakki (25), Hróarr Strǫnd (23), and Eiríkr Hóftún (32), the team captain. Finally, newcomer Síneiðinn Jásið Síðan (21) from the Níðhöggr club Knattfélag Háborgar (HFC) is the youngest player on the team.

Long-time coach Njáll Arni Eggr has stepped back from coaching to serve as team manager. Replacing him is Manuel Josefo, often considered one of the best coaches in Baumes. Josefo was head coach for the Baumish National team from 2019, before suddenly being fired last year due to “contract issues”.
