I simply do not follow the Evangelical model of sin.

Judgement will come for us all. Yet if all sins were mortal sins, nobody would be saved. Sin or not, it cannot be mortal. Otherwise? What would happen to anyone who said "goddamn," who drunk beer, who had second servings, who stayed home on the sabbath due to illness, who feels anger, who engages in usury, who feels lazy, or who engages in pride? Are all artists damned to hell just because they feel proud of their work? Surely, not.

As for Sodom? They were not damned for homosexuality, they were damned for attempted SA and inhospitality. The way they're depicted in the bible shows that God's wrath was reserved for a city that committed *mortal sin*, not non-procreative sex. Otherwise, God surely would have struck down the Israelites for their *numerous* prostitutes.

That does not necessarily mean it is not a sin (I do not think it is specifically, but that's a LONG argument). Yet if it is a sin, it must be a sin on the same level as many other things people do on a daily basis. Unless you people are willing to go to confession for working on the Sabbath or watching drama youtube (gossip), I do not want to hear it.

Well, if I'm being uncharitable- God didn't maintain control over his own creations beyond just humanity and isn't perfectly moral in his decisions, if we take Old Testament at face value. God didn't take responsibility and undo what did backfire, when he surely had the power to do so?
Didn't have the best plan for making the entire world aware of him, commanded genocides and more.

Personally, I am sympathetic to the idea of a queer affirming Christianity, but it seems that however much we try, the idea of a church that is fully affirming of LGBT relationships simply has not gained very much traction. At this point, I figure it would be better to just suppress my sexual desires, be celibate, and gain acceptance from traditional Christians than to be in a same-sex relationship and be hated by practically everyone.
