There's still just under nine days left to submit a host bid, and signups remain open as well!

As it is looking likely that I will get to host this Elephant Chess Cup, I am going to quickly present my planned format, assuming that does happen. Happy to take on some feedback!
Also, Signups remain open! Looking to close them this weekend with a start in early December in order to finish the tournament before Christmas.

IC location: Ivory Crown Hotel, Newport. As usual.

Scorination: xkor 0.3.3 with the updated team chess formula initially developed for ECC3

Format:
1) Casaran Stage
All teams (I am going to try for an even number) will enter a Casaran (Swiss) Stage, spanning 5 cutoffs and 9 matches (2/2/2/2/1). The first round matches will be random, with all subsequent matches determined via Swiss pairing methods (I am planning to do this by hand, as I still have not found a Swiss pairing generator for Team Chess that I am happy with).
After nine matches, teams will be ranked by Match Points, followed by Board Points, Buchholz Points, and SBB Score.
The top eight teams will advance to Stage 2.
2) Group Stage
The remaining teams will be placed into Groups A (1st/4th/5th/8th) and B (2/3/6/7). Points will not be carrying over from the Casaran Stage. Teams will play a single-round robin for 3 matches across 3 cutoffs. The teams will be ranked by Match Points, with any ties broken by their placement in the Casaran Stage. The first-placed teams will advance to Stage 3.
3) Final
The two remaining teams will play in the final on the last cutoff. In the event of a tie, the team that placed higher in the Casaran Stage will be the Champion.

Notes on RP Bonus:
Cumulative bonus has been the norm at previous ECCs. However, various NSS tournaments in the recent past (such as WC100) have capped the total amount of RP Bonus available, but have allowed teams to gain all of that basically immediately. I have experimented with similar methods during the recent (and ongoing) MCC, and will be using the following method for ECC12:
ROSTER BONUSx1.5 + HIGHEST RP BONUS + SUM OF ALL RP BONUSx0.5 + MOST RECENT RP BONUSx0.5.

This attempts to split the difference, giving teams a chance to achieve a big gap early, while still allowing active Roleplayers to slowly gain seperation from teams with a roster only. Additionally, as the difference between a roster and an RP can be hard to tease apart, the maximum available scorination rank will be capped to what would have been achievable without a roleplay entering the first cutoff. (Such RPs will still be useful, as they will still be counting unless you plan to score a perfect RP bonus every time, which will not be easy). As usual, RPs will be graded for quality rather than quantity.

Have you tried the Casaran Scheduler that I wrote years ago? The sort order is hard-coded to the BoF 52 sort order (not the simplified World Bowl XXII sort order that Legalese originally came up with for our WC67 bid) and it flags rematches for manual swapping.

The readme tells me it requires java, which I do not have, and it also seems to be tuned to football (such as 3/1/0 points). The effort required to make it work for what I need is almost certainly much higher than the manual work would be, speaking from experience of having done the same thing in previous ECCs, some of them larger than this one.
