[PASSED] Commend New United Common-lands

Postby The Democratic Disney States » Sun Nov 23, 2025 8:32 pm

Hello all in the Security Council! This is my first time writing a commend for the SC. This lucky person I am proposing to commend today is New United Common-lands a legendary juggernaut of The Region That Has No Big Banks! He has served in multitudes of positions in NBB benefiting NBB’s FA and Cultural Standpoint. The character count is a grueling 5251.

The Security Council,

In a multiverse regrettably filled with many thousands of regions that have fallen into inactivity, there have existed millions of nations that were once inhabitants. One such nation amongst the masses, New United Common-lands, has lived a story so radiant that it serves as an illuminating beacon of hope,

Recalling the genesis of New United Common-lands (NUCL), which entered the multiverse in April 2020 and settling in a small, but rapidly growing region called The Region That Has No Big Banks (NBB); with NUCL seeing the enormous potential in NBB during its recovery from years of inactivity, they capitalized on the spark of life in the region and became determined to carry it through those hard times, leading the way into a new, brighter future; Through NUCL’s tireless work and the foundations they fostered as a result, they largely architected the basis for which modern NBB is built,

Noting with awe that during their tenure, NUCL shone in a plethora of governmental positions, notably serving as Election Administrator, Deputy Prime Minister, WA Delegate, 3x Elected Prime Minister, 3x Appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commissar General of the Bankless Liberation Forces, and Minister of Events, the culmination of which was receiving community recognition, with them being awarded the highest civilian title of Honorary Founder of NBB, by Prime Minister America the Greater, in January 2024,

Extolling their spectacular efforts, whilst working alongside Founder Yodle, to wholesale restructure the regional and governmental apparatus to modernize NBB, with major contributions including:
  • Comprehensively reinstituting key governmental pillars in NBB, first by kickstarting and facilitating the first Elections in NBB’s modern era, then by breathing life into the Executive Branch through the implementation of government departments and single-handedly rallying motivated natives to contribute their efforts, and finally by reorganizing the Legislative Branch through the creation and management of Parliament, which later led to the planning and implementation of a Constitution as NBB grew;
  • Authoring and co-authoring a total of forty-three bills in the Parliament, becoming one of NBB’s most prolific legislators of all time. Some notable bills were the Defendership Accords, the Establishment of the Bankless Liberation Forces, the Dual Citizenship Act, the Referendum and Petition Bill, and the Election Procedure Bill;
  • Reviving NBB’s newspaper, The Social Reformer, after a five-year dormancy and continuing to revise and improve on each edition during their tenure, publishing five between 2022-2025 and contributing to eleven other editions in the same time period;
Admiring that, following NUCL’s retirement as WA Delegate of NBB in August 2023, they took the opportunity to establish a Defender-aligned force called The Bankless Liberation Forces (BLF), taking the helm as the first Commissar General and leading participation in operations alongside a growing number of allies, and establishing a training regimen and internal recruitment efforts which grew the size of the BLF;

Revering NUCL’s accomplishments during their tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs, ushering NBB into a golden age of diplomacy and expansion, culminating in two landmark bilateral treaties, including: The Money Heist Accords, signed in September 2024 with The East Pacific, a cultural and mutual defense treaty that was notable as it marked the close ties with NBB’s oldest ally in the Pacifics; and The Accord of the Bankless Arboretum, signed in October 2024 with Forest, a cultural treaty that sought to formalize deep pre-existing connections between both communities dating back several years;

Impressed by the unparalleled impact that NUCL had in shaping the cultural development of NBB, in particular, the numerous festivals that they established, some examples include:
  • 12 Days of No Big Banks, an annual winter festival featuring twelve days of unique cultural events, media, and activities, usually occurring in the lead up to Christmas;
  • Summer Fest, an annual summer festival that features a wide selection of cultural events and scheduled gatherings for a wide variety of interests;
  • Summer Slowdown, a late summer festival that was held in 2025, aimed to slow down government activity due to burnout and promote mental health awareness and connection with nature;
  • Bankless Forest Chess Events, two bilateral chess competitions hosted by both NBB and Forest in 2024, with participation from numerous other communities,

Asserting that NUCL’s years of dedicated service to the continual betterment of NBB after jumpstarting its modern era have proven extraordinarily fruitful, ushering in unprecedented expansion and creating the foundations of a culturally rich, ever-growing community that has built deep cultural connections across the multiverse,

Hereby Commends New United Common-lands.

The Security Council,

In a multiverse regrettably filled with many thousands of regions felled by inactivity, there sparks the birth of millions of nations. Once upon a time, one such nation amongst the masses, New United Common-lands, lived a tale so radiant that it serves as an illuminating beacon of hope,

Recalling the genesis of New United Common-lands also commonly referred to as “NUCL,” entering the multiverse in April 2020; NUCL, a gem of light and hope, settled in a region called The Region That Has No Big Banks, also recognized as “NBB,” a small but quickly growing community at the time with enormous potential, undergoing a spark of life after multiple years of inactivity; NUCL, seeing the darkness NBB was recovering from, shone and became determined to carry NBB through those hard times, leading the way into a new, brighter future; Through NUCL’s tireless work and the foundations they fostered as a result, they largely architected the basis for which modern NBB is built,

Awestruck that during their tenure, NUCL shined in a plethora of governmental positions, notably serving as Election Administrator, Deputy Prime Minister, WA Delegate, 3x Elected Prime Minister, 3x Appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commissar General of the Bankless Liberation Forces, and Minister of Events, the culmination of which receiving community recognition, with them being awarded the highest civilian title of Honorary Founder of NBB, by Prime Minister America the Greater, in January 2024,

Extolling the spectacular efforts, working alongside Founder Yodle, to wholesale restructure the regional and governmental apparatus to modernize NBB, with major contributions including:
  • Comprehensively reinstituting key governmental pillars in NBB, such as the institutions of Elections, Parliament, and the Cabinet, which consists of the Executive Branch;
  • Authoring and co-authoring a total of forty-three bills in the Parliament, becoming one of NBB’s most prolific legislators of all time. Some notable bills were the Defendership Accords, the Establishment of the Bankless Liberation Forces, the Dual Citizenship Act, the Referendum and Petition Bill, and the Election Procedure Bill;

  • The Treaty of BANKS-EU-RO-224, signed in November 2024 with Europeia, a defense pact featuring unique cultural and technological provisions that highlight the significant influence of Europeia’s media on NBB;
Hailing the invaluable contributions NUCL provided in co-authoring Security Council Resolution #516: Commend Yodle, a resolution that sought to recognize the many accomplishments of and honor the legacy of NBB’s Founder;

Impressed by the unparalleled impact that NUCL had in shaping the cultural development of NBB, in particular, the numerous festivals that they established, some examples include:

Glad to see this proposal, my position is that without NUCL there isn't really a modern NBB that is even close to where it is today. He was the most major reason for its success in the modern era and is deserving of the recognition.

I do want to note, however, NUCL was not involved in the BANK-EU-RO-224 treaty. Looking back at the group DM that it was negotiated in, he resigned as MOFA and left the DM roughly two weeks before the idea of a treaty was floated.

First impressions are favorable, a number of boxes ticked: well written, comprehensive research.

A couple of points:

To me this clause feels a bit fluffy, a bit of filler. Can’t exactly put my finger on why, but that’s how I felt about it on reading it.

Hailing the invaluable contributions NUCL provided in co-authoring Security Council Resolution #516: Commend Yodle, a resolution that sought to recognize the many accomplishments of and honor the legacy of NBB’s Founder;

Writing one SC Commendation is commendable, but not Commendable if you see what I mean. I’d lose this clause entirely as it adds nothing to the case you are building.

Apart from that, nice work.

Full support. NUCL has always been great to work with, whether that was as MoFA getting the HBC started or as Head of Events putting things together, and I can’t think of anyone currently more deserving of a commendation than him.

Good morning.

Sure, why not. Seems commendable to me. A well-researched draft with a handful of linguistic considerations to make.

The Democratic Disney States wrote:there sparks the birth of

The Democratic Disney States wrote:entering the multiverse
=> "which entered the multiverse"
The Democratic Disney States wrote:NUCL shined

The Democratic Disney States wrote:the culmination of which receiving

The Democratic Disney States wrote:establishing the roots that the current BLF has been built;

You also can't really say something was beyond fruitful, honestly. It just makes it sound like something is somehow too fruitful to be fruitful. I'd take a look at that.

Cheers.

Ayyy, a commendation from a regionmate for a regionmate? My patriotism compels me to support.

Jokes aside, I do have actual reasons to like this. While I haven't personally talked with NUCL much, as I' m not very active in the community, sadly, I quite enjoy helping the BLF out with liberations and fash bashes. Without him, I wouldn't have enjoyed my time on NS as much as I have without him.

This is a really good draft and honestly I'd probably vote in favor of it as-is.

That being said, here's some feedbak:

Recalling the genesis of New United Common-lands, also commonly referred to as “NUCL,” which entered the multiverse in April 2020 and settling in a small, but rapidly growing region called The Region That Has No Big Banks, recognized as “NBB;” with NUCL seeing the enormous potential in NBB during its recovery from years of inactivity, they capitalized on the spark of life in the region and became determined to carry it through those hard times, leading the way into a new, brighter future; Through NUCL’s tireless work and the foundations they fostered as a result, they largely architected the basis for which modern NBB is built,
I agree with BBD that this seems to be a bit fluff - not that it's a bad thing since it's clearly narrative fluff, but it can probably be condensed while still carrying the main idea that NUCL revitalized NBB into the modern region it is today. Also, "NBB;" should be "NBB"; - assuming that was a mistake heh

Noting with awe that during their tenure, NUCL shone in a plethora of governmental positions, notably serving as Election Administrator, Deputy Prime Minister, WA Delegate, 3x Elected Prime Minister, 3x Appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commissar General of the Bankless Liberation Forces, and Minister of Events, the culmination of which was receiving community recognition, with them being awarded the highest civilian title of Honorary Founder of NBB, by Prime Minister America the Greater, in January 2024,
I don't really think this clause adds much - all it serves is as a laundry list of positions that doesn't tell what they did, and it doesn't add much to the resolution. Additionally, commending someone because in part they got an award is essentially awarding someone cause they got an award.

Thus, my suggestion would be to completely scrap this clause and use its characters (+ characters from simplifying the first clause) to make one or two more clauses detailing on other achievements of NUCL.

[*]Comprehensively reinstituting key governmental pillars in NBB, such as the institutions of Elections, Parliament, and the Cabinet, which consists of the Executive Branch;
It's not really clear what this means. Did NUCL help draft a new constitution? Did they play a role in brainstorming the new government structure? Probably better to be more specific here.

[*]Authoring and co-authoring a total of forty-three bills in the Parliament, becoming one of NBB’s most prolific legislators of all time. Some notable bills were the Defendership Accords, the Establishment of the Bankless Liberation Forces, the Dual Citizenship Act, the Referendum and Petition Bill, and the Election Procedure Bill;
This reads fine as-is, but one neutral suggestion I have is maybe instead of listing some bills, you could focus on one exemplary bill NUCL wrote and state its impact? I mean I think this is fine either way, just wanted to offer another way to do this if you wanted to

Admiring that, following NUCL’s retirement as WA Delegate of NBB in August 2023, they took the opportunity to establish a Defender-aligned force called The Bankless Liberation Forces, commonly referred to as the “BLF,” taking the helm as the first Commissar General and leading participation in operations alongside a growing number of allies, and establishing the roots upon which the current BLF has been built;

I think it's probably worth expanding on this if possible, since BLF has been a pretty sizable defender force based on my limited observation. How exactly did NUCL start the BLF - did they train future officers? Did they recruit a large number of pilers? What in particular were the roots they established for the BLF? Did BLF ever undertake its own operations under NUCL, outside of Libcord?

Full support. NBB would not be a region right now in my opinion without NUCL.

In a multiverse regrettably filled with many thousands of regions that have fallen into inactivity, the emergence of millions of nations is born. One such nation amongst the masses, New United Common-lands, has lived a story so radiant that it serves as an illuminating beacon of hope.

The bit I’ve highlighted in red doesn’t make much sense to me, not quite sure what you’re trying to say. I’ve also made a grammatical change shown in green.

Also you should have this first clause after the line “The Security Council” rather than before.

We’ve implemented the changes into Draft 4, so it should reflect the fixes!
