Manuel Quezon has been updated from Post lighting Sidious to Pre lighting Sidious. Very good for him.

edit: oh my god Arthur Percivel what the fuck is that first portrait

I do love those two paintings though, the one of the Nationalist Chinese soldiers fighting in the factory in particular is quite awesome.

The wall is not just for show, it does have a small but noticeable entrenchment bonus for any unit that is standing on a province that is covered by the wall. It may be old, but it still provides some decent cover!

It’s so peak. I might just shed tears of joy.

Real. That's mostly why I prefer CK2 over EU4. CK2 has more events to keep me engaged.

Its a slower burn than eu4, and then on top of that micromanaging doesnt seem all that worthwhile when the ai can simply do it for you and spare you from the garbage UI.

I have absolute disdain for the new military menu. It should have just been like ck2s.

Okay. So. My first experience playing EUV:

It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to move my capital. You'd think it would be some niche button on the provincial screen. Nah, they shoved it into a tab that has nothing to do with building anything.

I was hit by two plagues that killed half a million people . . . that were NOT the bubonic plague. Literally in the first few years of the game.

A million numbers in this game, almost none of which explain themselves. I just wanted to know what numbers are actually good when it comes to supply and demand. Genuinely ZERO information.

It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to build roads. You'd think it would be in the production tab. Nah, that sort of unimportant thing is found only in the provincial screen. Not something worth doing en masse.

Decided to try something "simple" and experience the war systems. Declared on Portugal. They had no allies. Aragon joined anyway. Magically.

Activated debug mode so I could throw the cheating filth that is Aragon out of the war. Ran into a dozen completely arbitrary obstacles that stopped me from doing that.

Quit the game, loaded my gun, and blew away my computer.

My first impressions: This game can go fucking die in a ditch.

EDIT: Oh, almost forgot the best part. The tutorial broke and I couldn't progress it. That should have been the very first note on this list of misery and rage.

I did notice that right off the bat the game allows rivals to join in wars. This can be especially dangerous for teutonic order who gets rivaled by both lithuania and poland at start. Allowing poland to join in whenever they feel like it. Although seems like the ai arbitrary if they want to join in.

Its either go all in and have a hard game of figuring out what your doing or have the ai automanage your economy with slight adjustments on your end.

For my campaign, Teutonic Order economy was absolutely dogshit because no control, no infrastructure really at start. Only way to make money was begging for it across the catholic world. The moment I clicked automanage for the economy, buildings, trade. It gradually turned me into one of the most powerful economies in the world with very little time or effort. It made me realize there was a beauty in the abstract "simplicity" to euiv.

No player can do very wrong if, upon acquiring some savings, they build whatever the most immediately profitable buildings are on whichever of their locations have the best Control and Market Access. The EUV economic system is complex, but there's very little strategic depth to it.

Messed around with Japan briefly in the new CK3 dlc, i quite like the house alliance mechanic where different noble houses all over Japan ally with one another around a similar goal/agenda, its kind of neat.

Has anyone played After the End in CK3 recently? Is it in a solid playable state at the moment? It's been a few months since I've played CK3 but if ATE is good right now it might motivate me to jump back in.

The only thing I can say is that you'll have to roll back the game in order to run the mod, they haven't updated to 1.18 yet.

The random leader feature is neat. Could probably do some insane stuff pretty easy with that…

Somehow I completely missed the HoI4 DLC release, but here's it's post-release diary.

Not gonna miss the Infernals release, tho, a little over an hour ago.

If Stellaris Evolved ever gets updated I have quite the campaign plan. I plan on playing as synthetic crusaders that aim to attain perfection by forcing everyone else to transform and join their virtual reality paradise. Once I reach critical mass I am going to use a submod that allows mind melding to create a unified gestalt consciousness waging endless war until all advanced civilizations are conquered and assimilated and the pesky ones eradicated. Then I will return to a few core worlds and seal my paradise off to allow the primitives to advance only intervening if the crisis arrives.

Once they are ready to assimilate I will spread forth and welcome them to their rightful place. If Cetana should intervene I will start getting ready to explode the galaxy and unite our consciousness into a new deity. Otherwise I will prepare all worlds in the galaxy as Gaia worlds to ensure new life can form once again.
