A DRAW AT HOME, BUT A LOSS AT KRASNOGRAD
Iloilo City, Federal Capital Territory and Krasnograd, Pyazhnaya

The team are preparing for their matches against Bythia at Iloilo, and Pyazhnaya at away. The barra brava went up to lighten the stadium up and the fans were anticipating for a great match, ended in some attempts for some goals galore between the Lazarenes and Bythians. Zaldarriaga went up to beatdown the Bythians with his defense, and some chances made by Arnel Rahman for the forwards to score, but ended up either in the post or just missed it. Gella replaced Uemura to improve the midfield, but the Bythians were resilient, but not enough to take out the Lazarene defensive line. And it was scored just 0-0. The debut might end in a draw but the Lazarenes showed persistence to score goal after goal. "Well, it was tough for us to score some goals against these guys.", says Viray. "But I hope our next match will be a good one, I guess." "Our team has been staying to take out the Bythian defense.", says Usman. "But I hope that next game will be better." The game they will play will be against Pyazhnaya away from home. The Carabaos arrived in Pyazhnaya to face them. Training in some local fields in the Pyazhnayan capital, and having fun with the residents. And then, the game came. Where some of the Lazarene fans were vocal about their national team. And then the first half came, the Carabaos have the upperhand at first, but when a handball from Pangantihon came, a penalty for Pyazhnaya came and the Pyazhnayan player scored the penalty, doing a powerful kick against Ortega. The Pyazhnayan domination wouldn't end with some of the Pyazhnayan players humiliating some of the defensive line of Calderón, Pascual, and Robles, which are some of them are subs, while the captain remains here to lead the team. Because of this, another goal was scored for the Pyazhnayans before going to halftime. The Pyazhnayans and the Lazarenes go back-and-forth on the defense and offense before going to a penalty taken by midfielder substitute, Manolo Arnaiz, where he recently came on the pitch when the back-and-forth happen. Arnaiz took the penalty and missed it far wide. And the game is over, Pyazhnayan victory, 2-0. "It was hard to beat them, just because they have more experience in the World Cup.", says Pascual. "And facing Woodsmere will be a challenge for us." "Well, we didn't go well as it planned.", says Usman. "We're still looking for answers on how to beat them and win our first World Cup qualifier game." The Carabaos will go to Bohol to face Woodsmere and then to Avote away for the qualifiers. Will the Carabaos go to the World Cup for the first time?

MD1 @ Lisander
Soria Park, Soria, Lisander

Stoppage time of the first half had arrived and the Republican National Soccer Team was down a goal to nil in Lisander. They had come out absolutely flat on the road. As the halftime whistle approached, the Republicans had 1 last chance to equalize before half. Hippolyte Vargas moved the ball forward on the wing and passed towards Demeter Vayk. Vayk, realizing he wouldn't get an actual scoring chance, decided he was better off faking a foul to draw a penalty. Unlike in the Baker Park friendly, it actually worked this time as the official fell for it hook, line and sinker. All of the time spent practicing flopping in the lead up to the match had paid off as Saber Neville was called yellow carded for the phantom foul.

Sebastian Andersen, who was awarded the captain's armband by Rule Theriault prior to the match, would take the penalty for the Republicans. Andersen would go straight down the middle as Anders Michaelichen dived out of the way. The Free Republics had equalized and the cheerleading squad finally came to life along the Republican sideline. Moments later, the referee blew the whistle for halftime and the Federation of Free Republics had equalized going into halftime of a match where they had played very poorly. Afterwards, they quickly made their way to the locker room as the Lisander fans booed.

Once they were safely back in the locker room, Koby Theodore started speaking to his team.

Koby Theodore - Great job out there Demeter. You've clearly learned how to pull that off convincingly.

Demeter Vayk - I've been working hard on perfecting it.

Koby Theodore - Your hard work paid off for us. And Sebastian, there is nobody else I'd rather have taking a penalty in a clutch moment.

Sebastian Andersen - Thank you, coach.

Koby Theodore - Looking ahead, we have the Black Out match coming up in Happy Valley. I believe this will actually be my first ever visit there.

Alan Cindric - You've never been to Ren Rep before, coach?

Koby Theodore - I don't think I have. Back when I was a player or even when I was an assistant, it was mainly known as a football and partying school. And Republic College is literally in the middle of nowhere.

Alan Cindric - But it'll be extremely fun to play soccer under a Black Out.

Koby Theodore - Indeed, it will. I trust that our fans will make it a hostile environment and we will leave with 3 critical points. But first, we need to get back out there and win this match in the second half.

Hippolyte Vargas - Don't worry about it, coach. We'll take care of them.

It would not take long for the Republicans to gain a lead as Vargas would quickly provide the assist for a go-ahead Oskar Jakobsen goal. Andersen would score the third Republican goal just 3 minutes later on a long shot from outside of the box. Later on, he would score the 5th and final Republican goal off of a free kick in the 82nd minute to snuff out a Lisander comeback attempt and secure a 5 goals to 3 Republican victory.

MD 2 vs New Rotterdam City
Happy Valley Stadium, Republic College, Rensylvania, Free Republics

A capacity crowd slowly filed in for the Black Out match with instructions to be in their seats 30 minutes before the match started for pre-match ceremonies. Every single fan was dressed from head to toe in black. Anybody who showed up wearing inappropriate attire was turned away. An hour before the match's scheduled start time, the remaining tickets were reallocated to Ren Rep students and the gates closed. Nobody would be allowed out until the final whistle. Proof of citizenship was required to purchase a ticket and resale of tickets to non-citizens was strictly prohibited under penalty of being made a candidate in a future "election" if the Free Republics did not win. LiveMaster and all other major event ticketing platforms in the Free Republics upgraded their platforms to support citizenship verification for buyers.

The pre-match ceremony honored a great from each of the prior generations of the Republican National Soccer Team. Tonight, World Cup 85 champion goalkeeper Taras Sergeyev and striker Faredin Pozenel, the forgotten third wheel of the World Cup 68 side's striker trio, were the honorees. Following the ceremony, the Ren Rep marching band played the National Anthem with the Ren Rep Choir singing the anthem. Then they played and sang the old fight song of the World Cup 85 champion squad Rule Theriault.

Going into the half with a 1 goal lead, the home crowd was in a good mood but that did not stop the halftime "election" was returning a "Yay" result for an executive of an air conditioner manufacturing company who implemented a company policy to threaten frivolous lawsuits against anybody who dared to re-sell his company's products on the internet or even sell third party replacement parts that are compatible with his company's air conditioners. Following the vote, the executive was summarily executed via a military firing squad. To thunderous applause.

This would prove a fairly comfortable Republican win by a 3 goals to nil margin, the first home victory for the new generation. Following the match, there was no rush back to the locker room as the Republican players remained on the pitch to bask in the adulation of their adoring countrymen. Theodore warned them against celebrating too much for they had another away match coming up in Macbon then a very difficult home test against Juvencus. They also had to be back in class the following morning, or so they thought...

Grand Immortal Imperator's Palace
Republica

Doctor Kyle Kennedy was the headmaster of Barjavel Academy, the most elite private boarding school in the Free Republics. A school whose graduates were disproportionately represented among the Republican elite. And yet here he was being called into the Grand Immortal Imperator's office. Upon his arrival, he waited for a while before the Imperator's receptionist informed him that he could enter the First Citizen's office. Upon entry, he noticed that the Imperator was wearing his mask and military uniform as always. He never appeared in public or spoke to anybody without it. Besides maybe Lady Nova and Lady Scarlett.

Grand Immortal Imperator - Dr. Kennedy, it is good to see you. I hope you had a productive chat with Sister Polus and Secretary Chaloux recently.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Indeed, I did, sir. Sister Polus is a brilliant educator even if I do not share her religious views.

Grand Immortal Imperator - She has certainly had an extremely long and successful career. Very few women have ever been so powerful in Saintland.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - I assume this is not why you called me into your office.

Grand Immortal Imperator - Indeed, it isn't. I want you to put your school year on hold for World Cup qualifying to maximize the soccer team's chances of making the World Cup.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Sir, I too share your desire to maximize our boys' chances of making the World Cup but this would be very disruptive to our educational mission especially when World Cup qualifying lasts for 9 weeks. We have intentionally chosen not to have a summer vacation because this is proven to cause learning loss. I ask you to please reconsider!

Grand Immortal Imperator - I assume you would not protest this order without good reason.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Indeed, sir. We cannot afford to shut down our school every year for weeks on end. Also, I know the boys on the National Soccer Team and I know they would never stand for neglecting their education. If we were banned from educating them, they would simply homeschool each other.

Grand Immortal Imperator - In that case, is there at least some way we can make sure they aren't doing extra travel to return to school?

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Back in the day, there would have been. But you banned minors from possessing cPhones and cPads because they were undermining their development.

Grand Immortal Imperator - Indeed, I did.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - The downside of this policy is that it makes remote school virtually impossible.

Grand Immortal Imperator - Actually, I do know of a technology that would work. Have you heard of virtual reality?

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Isn't that primarily for video games?

Grand Immortal Imperator - Normally. But Citrus has a new virtual reality headset that permits a hologram of yourself to be physically present in a location and visible to everybody in that location. More importantly, they can communicate with other people in that location and other people in the location can communicate with them.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - How is this possible?

Grand Immortal Imperator - The electricity that I restored is not quite the same as our prior electricity. It possesses some magical powers that we obtained from the Ilysee gods.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Wait, you were actually able to obtain powers from the Realm of the Gods?

Grand Immortal Imperator - Indeed, I was. Granted, they only work within the territory of the Federation of Free Republics but that's good enough for our purposes here...

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - How soon can you get this implemented?

Grand Immortal Imperator - They should be able to virtually attend class tomorrow. I should also mention that those using these headsets will feel anything that happens to their hologram.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - That is most useful. And amazingly fast.

Grand Immortal Imperator - I will inform Senator Theodore immediately that his players are to return to their hotel rooms tonight. Safari will ensure that these devices are delivered to the hotel overnight. Also, we will be delivering devices for the cheerleaders so that they can continue to travel with the team.

Doctor Kyle Kennedy - Thank you sir.

OOC: I had originally written the first two parts of this RP based on the originally posted results that had me drawing Lisander 1-1 and beating New Rotterdam City 3-1. Was about to post when I saw Kytler's WCDT post. The equalizer off a flop was originally at the end of the second half to steal a point from Lisander which was more dramatic. Hopefully, the set of scores I RPed above is final.

SHOCKING RATINGS! Natkr Players React + 2v2 Showdown | World Cup 100 Video Game

World Cup 100 qualification is on! But how good are they really? We sat down with four players of the Natkrian national team-Captain David Lopez, Brayden Rodriguez, Jonty Hatfield, and Henry Smith to get their reactions to their new ratings in the upcoming game World Cup 100: West Pavola (available on Apex Systems). From outrageous results to disappointing stats, watch the trouble start as these 4 argue, whine, and eventually 2v2 each other in a thrilling match.

The teams:
Brayden Rodriguez, David Lopez
Jonty Hatfield, Henry Smith

Mr. Jones: Welcome players! Thank you for coming on the show. It’s time for the fun part of the World Cup. The games. Let’s start with the hippo, Natkrian captain David Lopez!

82 OVR CB

Lopez: Oooohh, 82. That’s good. I’ll take it!

DEF: 85, PHY: 82, PAS: 65, PAC: 58

Hatfield: 58 pace??? Dang! That’s too way much for you. They were very generous. They should see the way you run at practice.

Lopez: Pace is more a winger’s thing. It’s not my game. Look at that 85 defending! The defense is way better than the skill. 65 passing? It’s perfect. That’s a well-balanced rating. Nothing too excellent, just doing my job.

Mr. Jones: Next up, it’s that quick kid. The guy always on the wing, Henry Smith.

Smith: I hope I get something good enough maybe.

80 OVR LW (CAM)

PAC: 92, DRI: 84, SHO: 76, PAS: 70

Rodriguez: Dang Henry. That’s crazy. I knew you were fast, but I wasn’t expected this to give you.

Smith: Haven’t I told you, Brayden? I’m the fastest guy on this squad.

Hatfield: 70 passing? Who on Earth could give you a 70 passing rating? You can barely cross or pass the ball in practice, let only an actual football game.

Smith: Buddy, stop talking. My passes and crosses are perfect. You just don’t get it. Savadox, thank you! You got it exactly right.

Mr. Jones: The engine. The train. The tractor himself. Jonty Hatfield.

85 OVR CM, CDM

Hatfield: Yes bro. Thank you. Not a single thing missed. That’s what I’m taking about. Respect me!

PAS: 87, PHY: 85, DEF: 81, PAC: 75

Lopez: 75 pace? You were talking all that about me. See? You’re barely faster than me? I told you!

Hatfield: 75 is a respectable number for me. I’m an all-star. Look at my passing and my physical! I’m literally him. I control the field by myself. I’m the perfect player.

Rodriguez: 87 passing is good, but is it “the best on the team” good? We’ll see.

Mr. Jones: Finally… the creative genius of the midfield. Brayden Rodriguez

87 OVR CM, CAM

Rodriguez: Yes! Let’s go! I’m lowkey the best. I have the best rating right now. Take that, Jonty!

DRI: 89, PAS: 88, SHO: 81, DEF: 72

Hatfield: 88 passing.. I was pretty close. And 89 dribbling, that’s completely fair. I’m not gonna lie. It’s perfectly fine.

Lopez: 72 defending… I’ve seen the way you track back in games. Savadox definitely got that one right.

Rodriguez: 72 is more than enough.. My defending is just keeping the ball with me in the first place so the other team can’t shoot. It’s a playing rating, not a tackling one! 86 overall. This is a rating to compete for the World Cup!

Mr. Jones: Alright, guys! It’s tiebreaker time. You four will play a 2v2 on kickoff mode using the national team on Savadox Games’ World Cup 100: West Pavola. Winners gets bragging rights for future purposes.

Team Unc: (Brayden, David)
Team Miss: (Jonty, Henry)

The game officially starts.

Smith: JONTY! JONTY! Pass it to my winger now! I need that 92 pace so bad!

(Jonty sends a through ball to Henry, who runs past Lopez)

Lopez: Bruh. I can never catch up with you kids. That’s why my pace is 58. Stop running around, Henry!

(Henry takes a shot, and the GK saves it)

Hatfield: That was a poorly taken shot. We need Brayden’s elite shooting to be honest.

Rodriguez: Speaking of which…David. Switch over to me. Give me the ball.

(Brayden dribbles around Jonty easily, doing an rainbow flick)

Hatfield: Oh no, you don’t! Not on my watch. You don’t even have good defense.

(Lopez makes a great slide tackle on Jonty)

Lopez: That 85 defending is lowkey coming in clutch for me. I might be old, but I’m cooking. Unc are delivering.

(Brayden runs the ball up the field after getting it. He decides to shoot a stunning long-shot which turns into a goal)

Rodriguez: GOLLLLL!!! A long shot at the top corner!!! The crowd goes wild! The game gave me good shooting for a reason guys. That’s game.

Smith & Hatfield: Are you kidding me right now?

Lopez: Team Unc officially wins!! The World Cup has come to our rescue, and the trophy is staying with us at home forever.

Hatfield: Great game, we’ll get you next time. You got pretty lucky. And Savadox: keep my pace at 78. Don’t listen to any stupid thing David says. Just saying.

Rodriguez: Pre-order now, fellow Natkrians! And check out my amazing 86 overall rating. See you at qualifiers! Peace.

Competitive Games (Curated by Rifiño in Geektopia) edited by Andreika Rararch Sigi in Aimena) <======= You are here.

Image
Greetings and salutations! I am the editor Andreika Rararch Sigi, editor to one of nine mononymic Geeks who didn't resign independently or get sacked in a wave of plagiarism scandals over the myriad span of annums between the last internationally-designated Geektivities article and this one. Not bad, if you don't look into how this really didn't displace too many curator heads. I think it was.. just Blard and some of the other Math-fearing ones like Nke and Rehnstrōhm; El Baraka over in the Multiverse category can't wade out of the bad faith attempts to sully his name by myriad those who believe his editor and wife Eva Mariska II Purrlicious Chowder Chocolate have dirt on this news association. Not my business, except some of that sort of is my business, as in, does Eva still reside in the Islas? I should ask her.

Anyways, gain a friend by giving horribly arranged food to any person with citizenship in Geektopia or some of the other Kwandoan states like Aimena or Burur cak Noaqsi if you want to look at more features on this website, or even dig through metaphorical sand and metaphorically bury yourself in some of what I've done over my fifteen years (that is, 1380 annums), and the "matériel scientifique" of Courtieux in her many web-brochures (metaphorically, of course). There are days in the month where you get to see more of my face, less of it, more of my prose, less of it, and more of my interactions, or less of them: specifically, I edit by myself on Saturday and Friday, touch up my (and Rifiño's) bio every year in the eighty-fourth annum (or the eleven-twelfths period), and act as "research person" in the same room with the duo Isa Erekin and Jurgelevičiūtė.

Hotter than Fodder? Video game expert Isa Erekin, gaming expert Jurgelevičiūtė, and editor Andreika Rararch Sigi deliberate over... well, if you were given a name at the beginning of this, it wouldn't be any fun.

IE - Today, we are fortunate to celebrate anything we want to in this Hotter than Fodder!

J - Anything WE want to? Why, what do you know about giving me the power to deliberate over what I want to celebrate?

IE - Yes, deliberate! That is the name of the game, Jurgele. But in technical terms, or looking deeper from the outside to the inside, there is no point in asking these questions! When your researchperson/editor/mister reliable collaborates with any one person from outside of Kwandoa, in the sense that he exists and I exist and you exist, Jurgele, just as this show exists, it should make you very happy as it does me. And you know there is nothing to deliberate over in such a state of happiness as this news should give all of us, not just including me!

ARS - To tell you the truth, I am happier in the sight of a person giving me undue credit. You know that this was an impossible situation for me, and I am impossibly lucky in making the best of that situation! Also, let me continue: to be a mister reliable is not to have a job, unlike those other titles such as "researchperson" or "editor" which are very job-centric.

ARS - There is the matter of the video game, which by itself, swoons stars and moves suns out of orbits with their moons when those stars or moons or both look upon it's cover, and then, well, my curator has agreed to continue to set this up, where I am in the room with you wizened mensches. I thought that maybe we'd run past a month without Rifiño's material getting selected in the international designation, but then, you know, this all comes to pass and as the multiversal designation comes up my curator's name is at the top of the bill. I'm having less trouble sleeping, but still, you know, the editors, and especially editors who ask their curators to feature them in material, always take the sack before their curators. Not that there's anything wrong with that..

J - And besides! You know that there is a myth circulating that in the whole of media outlets in the country, there is a competitive environment of magazines who could hire you based solely on what you'd done with your curator. Common sense says to that, no! Only this and that other one which circulated Geektopia's national anthem to the multiverse in an attempt to unsuccessfully gather praise and revocation are still popular destinations for writers or editors since the plagiarism incident which, unlike ours, pretty much took out GeektivitiesTech™. It would be too much pressure, facing those questions from employers which are increasingly plagiarism-centric, and only because those who have been sacked mostly are of a persuasion that tends to think writing down the notes of other journalists and crediting them as their own is cool and could totally pass for a transformation of that work! What a mess this place is, aye aye aye.

J - Put yourself in someone's shoes, for once, that of the person who takes a look at the material all Geektivities hired has made, and picks among the best to show Aimenans, Noaqsians, Sainterrissiots.. now imagine why they'd choose the Competitive Games category AHEAD of time for the multiversal thingamajig.

IE - Could competitive games in this instance mean.. subjects that are concerned with the eighth transfer window of R.I.N.K.?

J - Wrong direction, but right sport, Isa. I watch some of this stuff myself over beers and chocolate-covered ham wraps with dino nuggets on the inside of said chocolate-covered ham wraps.

ARS - How would he know the competition, Jerg, when I see you hammocked out, still living on my couch, going from reality television show to cooking show to reality television show. Heck, you sure watch a lot of stuff, but we're not in with you when the type of thing you watch is association football-centric, never mind what competition.

J - I've already narrowed down the range by eliminating one VERY popular option that this country has been obsessed with. And what would you know about defending the honor of Isa when they haven't spoken for themselves on what I've said, yet on how you keep falling into the error of speaking for them as if you were them? What would you even know about my question, Andreika? Surely a lot less than what I know about gaming.

IE - What, video gaming? Or gaming, as in, challenging what bodies that oversee the gambling industry do?

ARS - He's right to be confused, Jergele, about your occupation, that is. How come when you're living with me, I don't hear a PEEP about the regulation and creation of rules, the triumphant moments, even anything so far as some of the non-classified activities you do in your place of work are concerned? Are you even earning enough to break even in two years? I THOUGHT we said it would be two years, and it's already been one and a half; you still look like you haven't couped your losses from the time that maniac took out the catalytic converter on your Mudskipper. By the way, I'm still sorry I didn't answer your calls. It was a work thing: the work prioritizes the phone like it does the driving, you know that. I'm sure if we swapped bodies when this happened, you would have done the same thing.

IE - I believe we were talking about why Andreika himself still has a career, not the other way around. I don't mean any offense to you, Jurg, but we should really clean up the room before we get into this. Is that a medkit?

ARS - Oh no, Jurg actually said we needed to put the chairs in the center of the room next to that table, there, and then the others against the wall on top of the other tables, like with this. I'm not offended, you Geek, I know it's my room, but I'm still not offended, because you know I don't gripe at you for leaving your stuff in here. What is that medkit from, anyways? One of your little illegal good-capturing vetting and licensing adventures?

IE - Anyways, what are some of the rules you took a good look at on your first day, Jurg? I can ask questions from farther back if it's no offense to the aspects of your work in Nīro which are classified. Like, for instance, do you know what you were primed on in your first interview? Were you grilled? If yes, how badly?

ARS - Oooh, actually he has talked with me about this. One of the second questions the interviewer, bald with patches on his head, by the way, gave to him had to do with a video game. It's why you're so interested in video games, right, Isa?

IE - Not really, I can't say I would be any more interested if I knew what the question was. I would be more interested in what was going on in the mind of the interviewer himself, and if it wasn't all right in there, did he or another interviewer make up for that silliness after the fact? Haha, I'm kind of losing my mind thinking about it.

ARS - Let's put a cap in it, because the interview dork's query has entirely to do with the process which went into my curator's category being selected. Geektopia is in a sports fever right now, and there are not less than a few sports video games being tailored for use in Geektopia which come from other places in the continent, in the multiverse, even! I can think of Natkr being a place where this "sports fever" phenomenon is more pronounced, but then again, they've probably (emphasis on probably) been to a few of these "events" in a row, while no one's seen this place at a level where it competes with other nations for I don't know how long.

IE - That's right! We're going tête-a-tête with nations, trying to see if we can be more diplomatic than they can to us in the.. uh.. qualification of Kwandoa to the qualification of the 100th World Cup? I know that if there's any doubt at all about international football, none of it's wasted on how diplomatic Geektopia has to be to Byrrandhiria, Gatetsu, Kings Gate, et cetera, et cetera. The foreign nationals are in R.I.N.K., and it's kind of concerning how much of a foothold they have now over these clubs, right?

J - You could at least try to objectively hide your protectionism stance on dual nationals and foreign nationals, Isa. But yes, Geektown is in the avenue of international football, although there isn't and hasn't yet been a continental association which makes qualifying to the WCC's qualifying phase something every Kwandoan demarcation and hovel in the sand will be required to do (that is, if the makeup and populations in those said state/s yield sufficient interest in association football to give their national associations some level of funding). Just as how the only way energy can be transferred comes through work or loss/gain of heat, you know that the only way Nijchōh I and their squire daughter can tap into the Amoresierran mode of thought comes through visiting Oriental de la Plata or doing the same thing as to Amoresierra. It would be foolish to say that culturally they are the same, but you have to say, the intensity with which food is celebrated in both places is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in those types of conversations.

IE - Okay, but as you errantly said, I have a protectionism stance on the "slots" rule; it's not a protectionism thing, I know that all these styles of football and whatnot are going to bring the league to it's knees. If you don't have one uniform archetype or stereotype that defines most every club in the seventeen, people are going to lose track and interest.

ARS - Ah, but according to this person here on the search engine haywa.com, from the overview I can read, you cannot keep politics out of sports OR video-games. It is relevant to what we will discuss here, keep it in mind, Isa. And don't try to make Isa forget, Jerg!

J - I remember playing an iteration of this when it came out, so many years ago.

ARS - Yeah but this came out in, uhh, was it 7867 or 7683? All I know, El Enfriamiento IV's been out for AGES.

J - Name translates to "The Quenching," and it's an interesting look at the use of dual-screen mechanics in general. Before we get into this, I would like to say that in terms of video game advice, no company should listen to us; I was wondering where the LAN party aspect came in, until I realized there was no option that supports this kind of thing in-game. So really, your character's name is Inicio and his origins in the universe are cloudy. For the purpose of progression in the game, you have to manage to make the original Inicio look normal and secret-free as he goes to college in "quick-time" scenarios, but the splitscreen on Inicio's clone, Inicio II, makes it clear that we're dealing with a much darker side of things here, in this "fictional" universe.

IE - In the view of Inicio, you have to hit the right notes for twenty seconds every three minutes for nine minutes straight in these classes that he goes to, because there are patriotic recited verses before the start of his classes. If you mix up your words or chew food with your mouth open during "lunch summons," it raises the incredulity on your incredulity bar; this gameplay mechanic isn't on the left side of the screen where you can also control Inicio II, for whatever reason and it also is only interconnected in one way: if you control Inicio II for more than thirty seconds, it gives Inicio's original body a headache, affecting the difficulty of quick-time scenarios.

IE - As the story goes, your clone is the head of a "big three" gang filled with a crack team of heist specialists. Generally, you're trying to peddle money from Inicio II to Inicio by taking some of this from banks and some of that from escaped prisoners with the help of the debt collectors who try to kill those escaped prisoners. The end condition is satisfied when Inicio collects one hundred thousand austral pesos.

J - Wait, why are the debt collectors actively trying to wipe out this section of their market? Nice premise for a game, by the way.

IE - I'm not sure, but thankfully there is dialogue which sort of explains that away. You see, the "escaped prisoner" demographic makes up less than four percent of money that these debt collecting agencies collect by the year, and on top of that, criminals who've gotten out of the system lawfully or unlawfully still aren't generally liked by anyone. Another parallel with the general culture and opinions of the Oriental de la Plata public.

IE - The last VERY important mechanic which isn't totally unique, but was for it's time, consists in that if either Inicio or Inicio II see each other, your run ends. It's sort of like what happens in the "grandfather paradox," but with clones. Time doesn't stop for Inicio or Inicio II when you switch POVs, but instead either body in all cases is controlled by an artificial intelligence model which saunters toward the other body. There are sections in the game where Inicio and his clone come VERY close to seeing each other, and you, the player, have to ease your way out of these difficulty hurdles.

J - Isa, our good friend, will try to complete the first chapter of the game on his own.

ARS - Are you on easy or hard?

IE - Depends on how I feel. Easy it is.

ARS - There was this scuffle in the later stages of development for this game, where one visual medium which outlined a user interface for the feature of suspicion was unceremoniously dumped by another visual medium, a compass which pointed to the artificial intelligence objects which represent non-playable characters in the game. Then on the final week, the studio relented to some public pressure and decided to implement the other visual medium, a dotted line which would also show up in eye-contact situations and point to the non-playable character, in easy mode. Point being, those were visual mediums developed by different members of the team.

IE - Dun dun dun dun, dun dun, dun dun dun. Love that! This would have felt emptier if they decided to do away with an opening cinematic.

J - Interestingly, Cornucopia, that is, the name of the studio which dealt this out to agents in the video game industry, did have a conflict of interest with a few of their team members. We have to keep in mind, conflicts of interest at studios with less than twenty members make for great stories! Anyways, Senior Coordinator Bartolomeo Berezza (not related to Edtacio Berezza) and the filthiest intrigues of the powers that be led Miguel Barović, creative director at the time, to the sack. Something about giving financial favors to a person who would help keep the dealings between Bartolomeo and his fourteen-year-old wife under the kosh.. I mean, under wraps! The studio needed less people because more people hemorrhaged profits, but after release the team decided to honor some of Barović's ideas by keeping that one eye contact design in the game.

ARS - How's that for a cinematic?

J - I'm still calling them Chistecopia to this day.

IE - I'm serving hundreds of people at a canteen near my dorm and they're ungratefully looking at me while they chew, like I somehow haven't served them enough food! The social dynamics in this one don't figure, or at least, are very hard to pin down. Is this how things are in the Oriental?

J - No, not hardly. Well, I've only been there once, but it was nice.

I'm going to go into more detail when I receive a telegram back from the user I asked for RP permissions from. For now, I hope you have enjoyed this! Also, it was inspired by Kita-Hinode's first post on the World Cup 80 roleplay thread, what with the picture and bio above the content and all.

Know your Team!

With the Centenary Edition of the World Cup on the way, Indusse is all set with their squad to compete their way into the final stage. While the team has a few familiar faces in them, there is a bunch of players who are here in the national camp for the first time. "Know your Team!" is a special section of our reporting that focuses on introducing the team to our readers. Two players will be introduced to the readers, every issue.

Image
Jahangir SHEHZAD
Position:
GK | Age:30 | Club: Image Syneca AC | Apps: 104

Born in the town of Shahzalabad located seventy kilometres north of Riveria, Shehzad continues to be the first preference keeper for Indusse. Joining the camp during the World Cup 94 Season, Shehzad proved himself to be a worthy successor to Steve Leghorn. Starting his career through school teams and college teams, it was his performance for the Mir Azmal College (MACPS) that got him into limelight and eventually got him signed by Sindvpore FC. From his debut in Liga Prime, he has been a constant contender for the Golden Gloves while playing for Sindvpore FC and later for Southbay Riveria FC. Even though he was present in the list for Golden Gloves, it never became his. After his stint at Southbay Riveria FC, he left to join the Squornsheleous side Sivolvia Capitalizt where he played for seven seasons of SCFA as their first choice keeper winning three championships. Shehzad was then transferred to another SCFA Club, Syneca AC as their first choice keeper. Shehzad has been a constant presence in the national team with his flexible and skilful performances. His calm composure also plays a major role in his focus and success in the game.

Image
Mathias PAULSON
Position:
CB | Age:40 | Club: Image Napoleon St. Bernadine | Apps: 368

Born in Riveria to a wealthy Catholic family, Paulson was not that kind of a kid who had football in him since his young age. Paulson started his career at the age of fifteen playing for local clubs and school teams. A Graduate in sports medicine from Saint Louis University in Jawaruyah (20 kms east of Riveria), he played for the university team and then played for a local club in there known as Jawaruyah XI. While in Jawaruyah, he even served as a Fitness Trainer in the university and club teams. He was then transferred to Rockies International FC who decided to convert him to a full time defender. He turned to be a key player for the club eventually getting a call to the national camp. He was then sold to Southbay Riveria FC while he was the captain for RIFC, his performance for Southbay turned him into a well sought defender in the nation. After a few years playing for Southbay, he was transferred to Taxhavn side Napoleon St. Bernadine as a Free Agent. In his first season for Napoleon St. Bernadine, he played as a defender plus coaching staff and in the next season decided to retire from Domestic Football. Paulson now serves as the Assistant Coach for the Taxhavn club Napoleon St. Bernadine.

Kick Start to Qualifying!

With the first two matchdays for the World Cup 100 Qualification stage done, Indusse is in high hopes as well as slightly disappointed with their performance till now. During their first match in Group 24 against Bruinswik, Indusse seemed like the overlords. Starting the game with complete power over Bruinswik, the team held possession with a dozen of shots in the opponents' net. From long rangers to close shots, Indussean strikers were unable to find a goal that could bring them the lead. Bruinswik had very little movement in their attempt to score a goal, and this game was more of a match between the Defense of Bruinswik with the rest of Indusse. The fans went all disappointed when a last minute goal by Grundjee was deemed to be an offside, finishing the game in a goalless draw. The fans after the match was very much disturbed and said that the attack should be improved or else the departure of Butea will be making a huge impact for the team's performance.

In the next match against Knights of LUSITANIA, the team wanted to improve from what happened in the last match. The fans were in prayers since they did not want a upset to happen. The squad had no changes from the previous game and wanted to prove that the team was not in fault. The match started with a rise in Indusse's possession and as the earlier game the team started to make a bunch of shots towards the goal. But this time unlike Bruinswik, LUSITANIA had other plans. Their players on the attack was not as silent as the opponents of Indusse in the last game. They also made some noise with a bunch of shots towards the goal, and even one going inside the net. Thanks to the blessings of Margaret, that one was deemed offside. With both the teams playing with the same effort, the first half ended with no goal. At the beginning of the second half, a mis pass from Adhaan reached the legs of a Lusitanian midfielder. This player eventually started his run towards the goalpost and making passes to the rest of their attack, and within a few metres away from the penalty box the player made a strong shot towards the goal. Shehzad unable to get the ball into the hands falls to the ground and Lusitania ends up leading the match.

The whole stadium went silent after the goal thinking that its game over for Indusse. Indusse and LUSITANIA continued to have another round of attacks in each others goalposts where none of them came into fruition. Then at the eighty fourth minute, from a long ranger of Paulson towards Grundjee the team was able to make a quick attack. Grundjee went deep to the left corner with the ball eventually making a cross towards Rahul Kumar. Rahul who was able to capture the ball with his chest, quickly kicked it into the post. GOAL! The team has been able to make a draw. The stadium erupted hoping that they will not be losing at home this time. The game came to close where the fans decided that it was another draw in the record sheet and suddenly Mersiás made a quick interception from a LUSITANIAn midfielder and started a sudden attack. Calling Djenkzo for a company, Mersiás went forward with passes made to Djenkzo and back. Suddenly while the opponents were waiting for Mersiás to make a pass towards Djenkzo, he turned and made a quick dribble across the defenders and took a shot to the goal. The opponents were startled with that sudden movement and before they could do something, the ball was in the nets. A lead! A Goal! Indusse makes a lead and within a minute the final whistle gets blown. The Stadium erupts with joy marking the team's first win in the Centenary World Cup season.

Bruinswik 0–0 Indusse

“They told me to do some commentary about current events, like adventurous times of unknown visitors and strange destinations or the long road still ahead,” said Sigismund Schiltze and adjusted his feathered green felt cap, “but how can you say something about today and tomorrow without firstly discoursing protractedly on the many yesterdays of time gone by,” he continued and took a long swig from his stein while seated on a wrought iron bench in the middle of the rose garden on Schönes Brinterberg Allee, just across from the Ministry of Recht. “So while you might expect a small treatise on foreign lands and visiting foreigners, I instead invite you to sit down and marinate your loins in the juicy story of How The Horkenheimers Ended Up Here.” Herr Schiltze devoured his last bite of a particularly buttery streuselkuchen and smacked his lips in contentment, before continuing: “Call me old fashioned, but when the cake is layered, you must start with the thickest tier, and so I suggest we now proceed to Part 8, wherein the game becomes a proper societal fixture with emerging stars, that still left people wanting more.”

”The years went by, and FußBall—once the unruly cousin of respectable athletic pursuits—slowly but surely ingrained itself into the fabric of Seebergundian life. It was still very much a pastime for the working classes and lesser academics, but over time, even the upper echelons came to tolerate it. Much like they had previously come to tolerate public hand-holding, and how they would eventually come to tolerate jazz music and women wearing trousers.

The new sporting associations developed, becoming increasingly adept at managing their growing organizations. They started running regularly scheduled training sessions, introduced age-divided subdivisions and concocted rules and procedures for picking members best suited to feature in the yearly Brinterberger Cup. The Cup quickly grew in popularity after its inauguration/rebirth and soon became the most anticipated yearly event for large parts of the proletariat of fair Brinterberg. Excitement started brewing in early spring, when the ministry released the determined fixtures and people could start talking about initial opponents and building unrealistic expectations about glory to come. Would your team of choice be up against the likes of Felina FußBall, with their violin-factory precision and unrelenting midfielders, or perhaps other southerners like the boys of Ballspielverein Gneis, known for their aggressive pressing and questionable hygiene? Could your team dent the smugness of FußBall’s posher elements by knocking out Staad FußBallverein or Sportsverein Brinterberg, who prided themselves on playing with elegance and losing with dignity, or would they fall prey to the likes of Münsterheim FußBallverband, whose tactical rigor was matched only by their fondness for sauerkraut? Oh, the Aufregung of it all!

The Cup itself was played over the course of two weeks in late may and momentarily transformed the face of fair Brinterberg. Matches were attended by hundreds, discussed in cafés and dissected in the pages of lowlier publications like The Brinterberger Beobachter. Children wore the colors of their local teams, and grown men argued passionately about formations, rulebreaking and the judge’s decisions, often without really knowing what either meant. Star players emerged and became heroes. Names like Rolf-Dieter Schnitzelkopf, the left-footed maestro from Knackwurst FußBall, and Lothar-Lothar Mauseer of Ballclub am Fluss, who became known for his thundering shots, are among those still known and revered by FußBall enthusiasts to this day. The earlier overarching geographical loyalties remained, but simultaneously these years also saw the development of new, more localized, rivalries. A northerner would always support Dinkelbrot against Knackwurst, even though he or she was perhaps primarily a Münsterheim supporter, but over time people would run into the issue of local teams being pitted against one another and soon enough an unavoidable social process of tribalization sparked fierce local rivalries, especially so in the northeast where earlier fellowship tendencies eventually devolved into bitter feuds.

The only real problem with the Brinterberger Cup, from the perspective of the participants and the spectators, was that it only happened once a year. Even though the emotional buildup was prolonged, and most definitely an appreciated tradition, the event itself seemed to fly by in an instant and the fate of waiting another whole year until the next time was heartbreaking. Over the years, this dissatisfaction grew. Alas, the authorities were hesitant to give in to popular demands for more Fußball. The introduction of the new game was indeed deemed a great success, with the dispelling of HändeFußy to the Schrottplatz of history and the channeling of proletarian energy into a more socially acceptable pastime. However, there were still potentially adverse aspects of it all, for instance the enormous outpouring of emotion associated with different teams clashing on the pitches. The physical dangers on the field of play were less of a concern, due to the meticulous ruleset and diligent judges, but the crowds sometimes worked themselves up into a most un-Seebergundian frenzy on the sidelines. Professor Theodor Adorableheim, of the Institute for Sozial Research down in the St. Paulina Quarter, did his part in fuelling government paranoia with his acclaimed work within a Critical Theory subfield - Critical Group Psychology - where he drew on field work before and during the 15th Brinterberger Cup to develop his theory on guided mass hysteria and charismatic revolutionary leadership as a potent potentiality for subverting hegemonic societal structures.

Official hesitancy lingered, while popular demands for Mehr Fußball continued. The resources and ßa-manpower devoted to keeping the social order intact during the Cup-Wochen was significant, and the ministerium feared that allowing a competitive expansion would prove overwhelming and erode the fabric of society (like theorized by Professor Adorableheim!). There were examples of things going awry, like when overly refreshed supporters of BSV Oxwaldstadt and Dinkelbrot Fußball got into a heated exchange and started calling each other names outside of Die Alte Bäckerei on Rheingutstraße in the heart of fair Brinterberg, severely discomforting the upstanding patrons, or when a young man was sternly told off by the locals after he wore a scarf with the light purple and yellow colors of Felina FußBall when visiting his grandmother just off Saiteninstrument Platz up in the eastern Heilige Birgitta Quarter.

There were different factions within the government, divided along familiar lines, concerning the future of FußBall. Some wanted to end the uncouth experiment of FußBall altogether, like old VfdaRdB backbencher Adolf von Magamann - known for his particularly shiny riding boots and longstanding political struggle to build a wall around the central parts of fair Brinterberg - who proposed to outlaw the game and make sure people gained the proper understanding by releasing the purpleshirts and giving them free reigns to make the point abundantly clear. Rumours have it that von Magamann and a few of his allies actually conspired with elements of the ßa - mostly retired officers that still held considerable sway - to manufacture elaborate preemptive strikes by concocting undesirable situations and provoking violence in connection with Cup games during the 21st Brinterberger Cup. These plans never came to fruition though, because old Adolf died in a bizarre ceremonial sabre incident after an arrack punsch-fueled bender during a hunting party in the spring months before the Cup-Wochen. Sad.

Other factions included those who were content with the status quo, some that proposed increasing the amount of Cups to two a year, with one held during late spring and the other in early autumn, and finally a growing group of proponents for meeting public demand by instituting a serialized and seasonal form for league competition. The latter contingent was spearheaded by the newly appointed Kanzler, Doktor Willy Krautheimer - a suitably reactionary progressive - and it was therefore unsurprising that it eventually, after much deliberation, tea, and passive-aggressive correspondence, ended up as official VfdaRdB policy. The reasoning behind this turn was not merely giving in to the movement for Mehr Fußball - even though it is said that Doktor Kanzler Krautheimer secretly held an interest in Fußball and was rumored to be a SV Brinterberg supporter - but rather a strategic-pragmatic manner of trying to contain public excitement by directing it into a properly institutionalized framework.

So, at the conclusion of the 25th Brinterberger Cup - where Staad FBV had been crowned champions after dispensing with BSV Gneis - the founding of the Seebergundian Fußballverband was announced. It was to be the new overseeing and governing body of Seebergundian Fußball, and they were tasked with both the formation of a seasonal competition for the capital - to be called the Brinterberger Liga - and ensuring the propriety and safety both on and off the playing field.”

"More turnips please. For a matter of, well ..."

The figure leaned in closer an spoke in hushed tones

"... national security."

The elderly grocer cast an inquisitive gaze upon the suited gentleman stood before him as his mind pondered over any plausible correlation that could exist betwixt national security and root vegetables.

"Turnips, tha sez?"
"Indeedio."
"Fuh national security?"

The well-dressed figure tapped the side of his nose, accompanying the gesture with a sly wink.

"... Well ... Each tuh tha own, Ah sez. Ah'll see wut wiv gorint back. Thez a birrova shortage ah them turnips currently."

With joints creaking like an ancient tree in a moderate breeze, the greengrocer extricated himself from his seat, took up his trusty walking stick and hobbled uneasily into a back room.

As the purveyor of fruits and vegetables passed from view, the charming demeanour of his customer dropped and Error wrung his hands in frustration. Three-nil they had been beaten by Aphrilia in spite of his apparently-patented penguin defensive wall strategy. The back line was supposed to be rock-solid. Three-nil. For fuck's s...

"Ah've gut sum swedes back 'ere. They any gud fuh that national security or wutnot?"
"Oh, ermm ... Turnips would be preferablacle."
"If tha sez so, laddy. Gi uz another minute then."

The main issue had been that Filthy had seemingly taken offence at Kevin Lacey breaking through this supposedly impenetrable back-line once too many times and about 30 minutes in to the game, seeing the Aphrilian striker once again evade a porrly sprung offside trap, Filthy had charged out of his goal mouth to challenge the ball but got about 100% of the player, and 0% of the ball. Needless to say, it was a straight red card and Charles was substituted off to make way for an impressively huge sack of Turnips to be located in the Paradystopi goal.
Now, it was already a risky strategy to face the nineteenth best national team currently in existence away from home with your goal defended solely by an inanimate sack of turnips, and even more so if this aforementioned sack failed to obstruct the entire goal. It hadn't taken long into the second half for the Aphrilia team to start to get their eye in aiming for that open spot in the top left corner and it was perhaps fortunate for Paradystopia that they had only found that spot three times by the time the match was brought to a conclusion.

"Kohlrabi? That any gud fuh yer?"
"Turnips please."
"Ah'm strugglin' tuh find any orrem back 'ere, tuh tell thi the truth."
"Would you happen to know anywherewhenorwhom I might find some?"
"Ah wudn't know, kid. Az ah sez, thez a shortage orrem currently."
"Okay, well, thank you kinderling for your time."

Despite thinking he'd be received as a national hero, Olii was instead squirted rudely in the face with a water pistol.

"Bad pussy!"
"Hey! What?"
"Then what do you thinkidink this is?"
Paradystopia 4-0 Ralsalin
Olii 22', 26', 49', 78'

"Us winning?"
"Yes. And what else?"
"Me scoring?

Another vicious jet of cold water erupted from the pistol into Olii's face.

"Bad bad bad pussy!"
"Hey! What? We won, didn't we?"
"Yes, but I'm meant to be scorinatoring the goals!"
"Does it really matter?"

A further spray of water connected with the confused Xat'

"YES. Look, I am trying very verily hard to prove to everyone that I, and I alone, can elevator the Paradystopia football team beyond their current ineptitudles."
"Ok, but we actually did pretty well in the Campionato Esportiva under Pe..."
"Don't you dare say his name!"
"Whose? Pepe Papa?"

Unfortunately for Olii, Paradystopia's current secretive home ground is based on a very small island, surrounded by the tumbling waves of the ocean and upon stating the name 'Pepe Papa', Error saw that the clueless Xat' was hurled from the nearby coastline to make closer acquaintance with this large body of water.

PART 1 / The Basics to Aphrilian Horse Racing (Educational, Informal)
Written by Emma Rhodes
With the centennial edition of the World Cup coming around the corner as well as the first sets of qualifying matches having been played, once more, the Aphrilian Sportsplay Forums has seen a increase in traffic due to The Anchors being back on the field once more. Football is indeed one of the most popular sports in Aphrilia, with others being of notable pedigree as well. Racing in particular has been a sport that stuck around within the public consciousness, but when you speak of racing, a majority would think of auto racing. Think open wheelers, stock cars, and motorcycle racing. But what if I told you that there is another form of racing that is popular within Aphrilia? One that is regarded as a highly prestigious sport in it's own right and is well known within the world of Eluwa itself? Doesn't that pique your interest in the slightest?

Hi, I'm Emma Rhodes. Blog writer, reporter, and analyst for ARNN. You likely are here due to: A. Clicking on one of the advertisements on the ASF, or B. You're a regular to the website. Either way or if you're not here due to that, welcome! Horse racing in Aphrilia is a big sport, with a lot of history and prestige involved in it. When I pitched this idea to my boss, he honestly wasn't sure about it. But I'm going to prove him wrong right here, and right now. Welcome to "Racing For Rookies," a new series I'll be writing where I explain to you everything about horse racing in the kingdom. Well, okay, maybe not everything. Going too deep into the history of the sport is something most writers don't do, even with a ten foot stick. Actual record keepers and historians do that, and they're as much respected in the industry as they are because of the sport's long history.

Let's start with the basics, alright? The name "horse racing" makes it simple enough. You race horses, the absolute basics of it don't get any more complex than that. But in Aphrilia, we have two types of racing. Flat racing and jump racing, or national hunt as some like to call it. Flat racing means we essentially race on flat ground in that the horses just run over a set distance. In jump racing meanwhile, they have to jump over obstacles which primarily include fences and ditches. We've used more than just that in Aphrilia though, like small streams of water! For this time however, we'll primarily be covering flat racing largely due to jump racing also having an insane amount of history itself and covering the incredible history of two different categories could be confusing to plenty if I do it at the same time. So let's go further now.

In The Kingdom of Aphrilia, horse racing is managed by two different entities. First is the Aphrilian Horse Racing Association, or AHRA. Founded in 1933, they oversee what in the country is known as "Central" racing across several tracks that host the major horse races, best known as "Grade I" races. The AHRA is an independent organization which operates under what is known as the Articles and Laws of Horse Racing (ALHR), but like many organizations, cooperates alongside the Aphrilian Ministry of Sports. The second entity is the Aphrilian National Racing Commission, better known as the ANRC, having been founded in 1951 in order to ease the workload of the AHRA. The ANRC oversees local, or rather, "Regional/Local" horse racing and operates under a similar albeit different set of laws compared to the AHRA. Not every major race that the ANRC oversees is considered as "Grade I" status due to the difference in level. And before we dive into the grade system, let's talk about a bit of history. In essence, how current horse racing came to be in Aphrilia.

The concept of racing horses has existed for centuries in Aphrilia, with the first instance of horses racing against one another being all the way back in 1478. However, these "Ancient" races work differently compared to that of the modern era. Usually these were match races, where two horses and their riders went head to head against one another or "Regiment" races where multiple horses and their riders (Usually in groups of three or four) would form a team as a regiment and race against another regiment. The roots of modern horse racing only sprung up to life in 1812, when the now defunct Estreal Racecourse hosted what is known as the first ever true flat horse race. Eventually, a few races would stick out as the most prestigious within the country, all of varying distance and courses. But it wouldn't be until 1984 where Aphrilia actually implemented a grading system for races. Now let's talk about the grading system for the races here, which I am actually unsure if it's different compared to other countries or not.

Horses typically start their racing career in a "Maiden" race, races for unraced horses. To enter higher stakes races, it's usually a requirement to have a certain amount of winnings or a certain amount of wins. In Aphrilia at least, there are "Open" and "Listed" races. Open races in Aphrilia are usually for horses that didn't win a maiden, and Listed races usually have some competition to them. Then comes Grade III and Grade II races, steeper competition but not the absolute most prestigious. These races usually serve as standalone graded races or as trial races for the biggest races in the country. Though unofficial, the terms "Super Grade II" and "Super Grade III" exist and have been used by writers and journalists such as myself, usually given to races where there are multiple competitors of a level above that race's specific grade. Speaking of grades, of course as mentioned previously, Grade I races are the most prestigious in the country, but also have the most competition. Some of these races are limited to the gender of the horse, their age, or even both! In fact, that's true for essentially every graded race. And in regards to graded races, Aphrilia is host to about twenty six Grade I races, but only by AHRA standards. This is because AHRA G1s are recognized by the Eluwa Union of International Equestrian Activities (EUIEA) while ANRC are usually local races only. They follow the same grading system, except the graded races under their supervision are known as Regional Graded Races, for example, "Woodword Grade III," with Woodword being the region where the race is held and Grade III being the level of the race according to the ANRC.

Still with me here? Because it only gets more complex. Regional Races are usually held on dirt surfaces, whilst Central Races are mostly turf races. For this series, we'll primarily be covering Central Racing since the history and lore of Regional Racing can be complex and muddied at certain times as it also depends on which region. In the previous paragraph, I've mentioned that Aphrilia has twenty six G1 races under AHRA oversight. However, that's a sort of as lie, as one of the races categorized as an International Grade I race is actually managed by the ANRC itself. It's confusing, yes, but it's one of a few races with... Unique circumstances when it comes to the race's off-track matters. Either way, the races themselves is what we'll cover next time, along with the stories of these races themselves. And for the next part of this series, here is a schedule of Aphrilia's G1 races for future reference.

See you all in Part 2 of Racing For Rookies.

Starting Win For Soviet Kem

As World Cup 100 qualifying kicks off Soviet Kem wins 1-0 at Shiverian Republics.
The game started with an early 7th minute chance for Roynk, but he fired wide. In the 22nd Minute Fendski halts the counterattack with a tactical foul, receiving a yellow card. Shiverian Republics player Rosman Strobov to the free kick, going for goal, but he went off the crossbar, resulting in "Iron Wall" Zoinski collecting the ball. Eventually Genish II made a wonderful threaded pass to Gligimesh, who curled it low past the Shiverian Republics keeper in the 39th minute. In the 53rd minute Nort was substituted for Fenski, in the 62nd minute "Iron Wall" Zoinski intercepted a cross from Shiverian Republics player Froni Hytrin. A 90+2nd minute push by Shiverian Republics player Froni Hytrin was tipped over by "Iron Wall" Zoinski, the resulting corner was cleared by Gligimesh. The Final whistle blew, with Soviet Kem winning against Shiverian Republics 1-0

This Kanzlian narrow-body regional jetliner remains in service till this day. Kanzlian officials are carried aboard this liner for diplomatic visits.
■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ✹ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■

So, ever wondered why Kanzlia don't have a national airline? Trains, thats why. No, really. Kanzlia's rail network has been the priority of so many previous governments that its practically been modernised to an impressive degree. Just recently a new high speed rail line connecting the cities of Trystophania and Morton had been completed, and that came in underbudget too. Point is, rail transport has been the go to method to traverse Kanzlia ever since the industrial era. And when the age of jet travel came knocking... frankly not a lot of people were interested.

Air travel in Kanzlia had always been reserved for either the wealthiest of the wealthy and/or humanitarian missions to access inaccessible islands in Kanzlia's frontiers. When jet travel came around, it was seen in Kanzlia as a mere upgrade of afforementioned niches instead of revolutionising passenger travel. One pivotal moment permanently soured jet travel for the Kanzlian public, and that was when the 'Szbedansk Mafia', the ruling Kanzlian National Party government, left the country during the Kanzlian Collapse aboard one of these jet liners. This unsightly sight paired with air disasters happening elsewhere only further peeved the Kanzlian public. As a result, air travel never really took off the ground.

Trident Aviation, or just Triav, is the premier Kanzlian civilian aircraft designer. Unlike giants Avioibsia or Schatzki, Triav prioritise civilian designs over military ones. But how would they survive doing so in the Kanzlian market? Easy, they don't! Though their factories may lay mostly in Halia province, their customers are almost entirely foreign. They were producing mainly utility aircrafts and small business jets and the like. In the late 1980s and into the early 1990s however, the business of business jets were in high demand due to several factors outside of the Museums concerns. Triav were able to easily provide for domestic demands for small jets and they even quickly cemented themselves as the number one manufacturer for civil utility aircrafts in Kanzlia with their Triav Series G. Were things looking up for Triav and the civilian jet market?

No, not really. As with trends and the like, the business jet fad was short lived. Kanzlia's airports were pretty bad in those days and options to fly was not numerous in the slightest. The Series G was still popular as it could rely on smaller airfields scattered throughout the country but it seemed like thats all Triav could squeeze from the domestic market. Something spectacular must happen for the domestic market to regain interest. Surely an overblown PR disaster during an international visit wouldn't be enough to do it in.

Anyways, an overblown PR disaster during an international visit became the driving factor for the birth of the Triav Series M. During a 1995 state visit to Coembra, then Prime Minister Patrick Deshuizen chartered a Tumbran plane for the visit there as the government has normally been doing all these years. This was the first state visit to Tumbra by a Kanzlian state official since Queen Irene II, back in the Kingdom days, who visited Tumbra aboard a battleship. Different times. So, its a momentous occasion for both sides and unfortunately both Kanzlian and Tumbran newspapers having found nothing to write about, decided to complain and mock the use of a foreign aircraft to get there. The PR disaster further worsened when the plane reportedly had to approach the runway thrice before finally landing.

Coming back home from what was actually a hitchless state visit, Patrick Deshuizen caved to public pressure and tasked Triav and Avioibsia to manufacture a jet liner for state use. Avioibsia backed out early as they were buried with other contracts. This left Triav with the sole task to develop a jet liner for the government. They had experience with building jet liners, but this was the first time Triav had to independently come up with one without external help. But with the help of Avioibsia who chipped in their engineers and expertise, as their jet engines were the ones Triav selected to use, Triav was able to conjure up a design by 1999 and a prototype was built on December 2001. Some technical issues and legal troubles aside, Triav was able to fly the prototype on July 18th 2003.

The Series M first customers were naturally the Kanzlian government who purchased 4 units for their fleet. The military also purchased around 20 units for their own thing. The two Kanzlian airlines purchased 38 units in 2006 but that is pretty much all Triav could sell in the domestic market. Naturally after pouring nearly a quarter of a billion Gelders in research and development, Triav was disappointed with how sales were going. Rail transport hogged the transportation market all by itself, really all that Triav could do was wait for rail transport to combust into flames and several hundred thousands of kilometers of railroad spontaneously combusted. For now though, Triavs measly 62 units of the Series M would suffice.

Though we do not currently have a Series M in our museum grounds, the Series M is still a pivotal part of Kanzlian aviation history. The Kanzlian Aviation Museum puts its card on Rank 2 based on its historical significance, sorry Triav!
Image

Though it is a shame the air industry in Kanzlia is dominated by the military, I won't go out and say we replace our established rail transport for air travel. Speaking from experience, airports in Kanzlia are terrible and such such a hassle. That said, Triav are still doing alright with their Series G planes. They should stick to that niche market.

The following is an excerpt from a series of articles published by leading Katzeburgian gaming magazine Starter Life.

Ask any long-time Lands of Eternia player where they were in-game on March 11, BK1, and there's a good chance they'll be able to tell you exactly where they were that day, because that day is a key one in the eternal lore of Lands of Eternia. For it was the day that Lord Stratonic, one of the initial beta tester group who would go onto become the largest land-owner in early-stage Lands of Eternia, would be assassinated. Lord Stratonic - better known by his username of just stratonic - was an early-game icon. A player who rose from very little to end up purchasing enough land to build his own town of Straton - a nod to the real-life Tumbran city of the same name - his land and status became one of the first things any new player to Lands of Eternia would learn about in the early years following the games release, as a large hub of the player-led economy would be based out of the grand trading bazaar which sat at the heart of the city.

stratonic opted to forgo most of the joys of the game's deep questing and combat mechanics, instead opting to hoard wealth and use that purchase his own high-level players for round-the-clock protection - often going strolling around his city wearing nothing more than a aesthetically pleasing blue jacket and top hat combination - an iconic match-up for anyone familiar with the game. Agreeing to speak to Starter Life as part of this article series, we can reveal that the user behind stratonic was a Skyberg plumber called Colin Christiansen. Now approaching 50 years of age, Colin reflects on his life on Eternia Island with great joy, especially the series of events which led to his infamous in-game assassination.

"It sounds ridiculous to say, but getting to that position in-game taught me so much about real life things like running a business and keeping stakeholders happy," Colin told Starter Life when we met up for a coffee and to discuss his years on the game. "It snowballed straight into helping me start up my own business and keeping it running all these years - I'd never would have had that experience had it not been for my other life." Colin was one of a number of Skyberg locals asked to beta test the initial build of Lands of Eternia, getting into the game after responding to an ad in the local newspaper. "I was around 20 at the time, still figuring out what I wanted to do in my life," he told us. "I saw this ad from Mercer Software while looking for jobs in the paper and thought, well at the very least it could be a good way to piss away some time! So I applied and got in."

Creating his first character the day after the beta server went live, stratonic took his first steps onto Eternia Island and into a world he would spend years working his way to the top of. "Everything felt just so different from anything I had played before," Colin said. "The graphics were fresh, the world was huge and felt endless - like I could truely do anything. Never really warmed up to the combat, but the crafting and trading system was something which just scratched that itch for me."

Beginning as a humble lumberjack and woodsman, stratonic spent hours in the game each day, chopping down trees and crafting the planks into useable early game items, generating him quick start-up funds when the game went live to the wider public. Within six months of the game going live, stratonic had earnt the most gold on the server by a huge margin through this method, monopolising early-stage Lands of Eternia through his guild the Reorganisers of Island Materials (RIM). He pushed this new-found wealth into the burgeoning real estate market, purchasing an at-the-time unheard of 20 chunks of land on the southern side of the island map with the intention of using the land to create a large city for his guild and new players alike. This ambitious project, dubbed Project Straton, would take six months to come towards completion, but not without controversy.

"People were mad that me and the guild were using lots of our resources to build Straton rather than craft early-game items," Colin laughed. "As we were the biggest supplier of early game tools, the supply dried right up as competing guilds didn't have the resources to match our output, leading to the market going sky-high during construction of the city." Sky-high was right - data scraped from loemarket.co.kat suggests that early-game tools such as wooden pickaxes and hoes went from costing a competitive 5 gold to more than 500 gold over the period of Straton's construction, pricing out a number of newer players from immediate progression. But stratonic wouldn't move away from their grand vision, and at the start of BK1, the grand city of Straton - the largest and most detailed city in Lands of Eternia history to that point - opened to the public.

Grand celebrations stretched across the city, which saw thousands of players descend on its streets over the first few weeks of operation, with stratonic the solely appointed and undemocratically-elected leader, waltzing through the city without a care in the world as players flocked to locations like Straton's grand trading bazaar and city arena, funnelling additional gold into the pockets of him and RIM leadership. The city transformed its leader into an icon - one of the most well-known players on the server and quite naturally for a PVP game where anyone could take out anyone, one hell of a hunting trophy.

Early-stage Lands of Eternia arguably had one fatal flaw with it, which was that if your character died at any point, you'd respawn with nothing. No levels, no gear you've spent many hours grinding to get, nothing. While some people loved the risk factor involved, it made death a real quit point for many people in the early years. Why bother building something grand in this world if you could die at the drop of a hat and lose it all? "You have to remember, at this stage in the game's life there wasn't any real risk of high-notoriety players being targeted," Colin chuckled. "I guess I kind of became a poster-boy for that at the end of the day."

The severity of the market swings during the construction of Straton were not quickly forgotten, and once the city was open for business, many players were infuriated to find out that the majority of the guild's trading and sales had migrated to the Grand Bazaar, with inflated prices designed solely to generate extra funds for the pockets of RIM. In-game threats were made against the life of stratonic, with Colin deciding it was the best course of action to fund additional protection for himself while on the game rather than adjust income and profits from the bazaar. "Looking back, I'd probably make the same decision, truth be told," he told us all these years later. "Especially knowing what was to follow. Something needed to be done and I was just blind to it and the impact it was having on the overall game and the new player experience."

A group of players gathered together off-site to plot for a way to deal with the increasing problem which was Straton and its Lord - and, mirroring what would follow just a year later with the Katzeburgian Revolution, the best route was that of assassination and dismantling of the entire system.

Mark Williams was, at the time of BK1, just a young Lands of Eternia player under the handle of albono_ohno who had struggled for a few months getting a grip in the increasingly-profit-driven Eternia Island. Finally having enough of the system itself and wanting to make a change, he joined this group plotting to remove stratonic from the top of the chain - volunteering to go undercover within stratonic's own highly-paid security force. Needing additional numbers because of the increasing tension from this rebel group, stratonic skipped past the traditional background check he had been running on his security, giving Williams a shot at the king. And he wouldn't need a second invitation to do so.

Because he had spent so much of his in-game time focusing on crafting skills, stratonic was actually quite weak when it came to combat, so when albono_ohno struck him with a +5 Dagger of Death with a poison add-on during a traditional walk through the Grand Bazaar on March 11, BK1, the impact was viciously quick. stratonic was killed within 30 seconds, barely enough time for the rest of his security force to cotton on to what was happening in front of them. In the middle of a crowded bazaar, the Lord of Straton - the grand city of early-days Lands of Eternia - was killed.

Chaos erupted. The players who had been grinding long and hard just to save up for common tools rioted, attacking the city forces and quickly overwhelming them with sheer numbers alone, while the rest of RIM's leadership panicked at the loss of their leader and kicked off infighting as rival factions fought to retain control of Straton. The end result? One destroyed city, a guild split into three smaller factions which would spend years at war with each other, and a leading player of the game starting from scratch once more.

"To this day, I still can't believe I got as close as I did to him to make the killing blow," Williams told as after we tracked him down for this series. Now a software developer, Williams would gain huge notoriety as the man who brought down a lord, but ultimately would quit the game two years later after choosing to commit to his education instead. "It was a lot of fun being able to stroll around the deserted and crumbling city in those final days before I stopped playing knowing that I had kicked all that off," he told us. "That's a feeling that sticks with you, even if it was only virtual."

As for the man himself? "Starting with nothing again was almost like a sweet release for me, to be honest," Colin said. "It was interesting building back up in this world that had been so radically changed overnight and a lot of hours were spent revelling in the chaos of my own death. But, times changed - about six months or so after I 'died', I got the chance to really break into my own career-wise, and I took that leap. Starting your own business is such a time-sink that I just no longer had the time to spend on LoE, so I just stopped playing one day and moved on.

"I still think of the game regularly and I'm sure my wife is well sick of me telling her all about the time I used to rule the world, if only for a moment. But those times are gone. While I'll be keen to go back and pop into the world once more before the server shuts off, it's a part of my life which is firmly in the history books. But Lands of Eternia was just one of those games, where you could do anything, be anyone. And I'll treasure that forever."

Blue Cats fall on face right out of qualifying gate despite 100th game joy

By Otis Huffman, KBC

A mixed bag of a first window for the 100th World Cup Qualifiers has Katzeburg already on the brink after the side failed to pick up points in a 'must-win' clash against Natkr at Katzestadt Arena.

The side failed to fire in the opening matchday of the 100th cycle qualifiers against the strong Pot 3 side, whose striker Henry Henderson stole the show in front of a capacity crowd - netting a first-half hat-trick to all but silence the Katzeburg support. The Blue Cats never looked in the game, registering just three shots on target and picking up a late consolation goal through Lloyd Field to make the scoreline seem closer than it was on the night. With just the top side in Group 21 booking a ticket straight through to the World Cup, there was no margin for error and by dropping points this early on against a nation which will be a strong contender for the playoff spot, some sections of the support are already calling for immediate action.

"Look, we know how well she's done for us over the course of the last few years, but that performance tonight was a stark reminder that we need to be moving on from Becka Haberkorn," Rick Tennant told KBC's Goal!. "The team has looked without a pulse all throughout the Campionato Esportiva and it's quite clear that the double whammy of coming up short in both the World Cup 99 Qualifiers and Cup of Harmony killed morale within the squad. We need some fresh faces in both the squad and dugout if we want to push forward as a country."

Haberkorn's contract as manager is due to expire at the end of the cycle, with sources within the KFF refusing to speculate whether she will be offered a second extension. However, there was some bright moments to celebrate in the second matchday of the window, as Katzeburg played their 100th international as a nation and celebrated two of their national stars - Drake Wruck and Serena Plank - hitting the 100 cap milestone as a result. The two have never missed a game for the Blue Cats, and while the game initially looked to be piling pressure on Haberkorn - going three goals down in a torrid first-half which saw the underdogs Europeasia slot three past a shocking Katzeburgian defence - the second half was the Drake Wruck show, with the national team icon netting twice to pull the score back to 3-2, before substitutes Walton Hershey and Gwen Sessions found the back of the net to give Katzeburg a late win and kick-start an already flailing campaign.

"It's clear to me that this hasn't been the best possible start for us this cycle," Becka Haberkorn told media in the aftermath of the 4-3 win over Europeasia. "We needed to do a lot better given how tight this group is going to be at the top end where we want to be competing. There's pressure, but I back our squad to be up for it every step of the way. Everyone will drop points in this group at one stage or another, for us to do so at the start is probably a good thing as it shows we can't be complacent from the get-go."

Katzeburg will have some of their blushes spared by the fact Group 21 has kicked off with every single team except for Europeasia and Felinetopia picking up wins in the opening two matchdays, with only Natkr and Pasarga yet to drop points. The Blue Cats next host Konkert in the first ever Katzeburg national team game at Maplewood Park in Axmund, before travelling to Pasarga in a game billed as the most difficult fixture in Katzeburg's qualifying campaign.

Oops! Accidentally chose the Gridiron Football settings at start-up. Ended up beating Damukini 7–3 by a touchdown to a field goal. Tried again and won by two safeties to nil. The start-up process is a bit confusing.

The House of Parliament, Hapilopper City
The other day – 1:53 p.m.

“Someone, tell me please, I want to know, where and how in the hell are we ever going to succeed if Brett Booth is going to stand in our way? He has little regard for the safety of our fellow Hapiloppians, he throws regulation after regulation in our way, and quite frankly, he has to be stopped!”

Tom Baxter, the new leader of the Conservative Party, was succeeding in whipping his fellow Conservatives in shape. For years, the Conservative Party in Hapilopper was considered something of a laughingstock. Under the direction of Leonard Wolf, the party had barely been able to gain any footing in the Hapiloppian government, partly because of idiotic decisions made by Conservatives and because the Liberals had been immensely popular under William Mathis. But with a change in leadership in Hapilopper, the momentum had started to shift towards the right. The Liberals’ leader, President Brett Booth, was becoming more and more unpopular by the day.

Booth was seen as someone who had ineffective solutions for very real problems. Electric vehicle fires – fires that were difficult to put out – led to Hapiloppian backbenchers proposing a ban on those vehicles. But then certain nations, most notably TJUN-ia, stuck their nose where it didn’t belong, whined and complained about it, and Booth vetoed the ban. An attempt to override the veto was stopped by a filibuster in parliament, and the veto prevented the ban from being reconsidered. But the veto was deeply unpopular. Electric vehicle fires continued, and Conservatives were starting to successfully paint these fires as “Booth blazes.”

“Just last night, a Booth blaze wiped out a parking garage in Garvinson,” Baxter continued. “Someone’s shitbox electric toy caught fire. A whole city block had to be shut down. Numerous people lost their property – vehicles burnt down, a parking garage had to be evacuated for fear of collapse. All of this because we had another Booth blaze! If he actually listened to the concerns of Hapiloppians and not the infantile whining from the TJUN-ians, we wouldn’t be having this conversation!”

Baxter’s boasts brought bellows and whoops from the Conservative side of Parliament, and uncomfortable squirming from the Liberal side. Quietly, some on the Liberal side wanted to agree publicly with Baxter, but feared retribution.

“I want to ask you another question, Liberals,” Baxter continued. “In the last few months, Brett Booth has been proposing a number of new laws, regulations and rules. He says this nation is known more for its worst elements than its best. He has talked about these so-called ‘civility’ guidelines he wants us all to abide by. These are guidelines that people like you and me here in Parliament, and people in the media, must follow. I ask you this, Hapilopper: Doesn’t that sound like a violation of a free press and free speech?”

More whoops and cheers from the Conservative side.

“Brett Booth has put out regulations that businesses must abide by,” Baxter said. “These regulations limit what businesses can do to innovate and make Hapilopper the envy of Esportiva! Instead, our businesses are stuck in a box, unable to do anything that would disrupt the markets here and across the region. If he wants to talk about this nation being known for our best, he can’t strangle our best!”

The reality of the situation was that, yes, in an attempt to change Hapilopper’s image, Brett Booth had proposed regulations that were intended to curb the way people viewed the country abroad. The nation had been known, yes, as a nation of idiots. These regulations would limit the way the media could report on criminal acts and would limit the content of programming on television. His supporters said it would help clean up Hapilopper’s image, but his opponents – and those opponents were growing – said it violated free speech and free press laws.

There were proposed regulations meant to curb incidents in the workplace and to improve worker safety. There had been incidents in workshops and factories across Hapilopper because of what some considered lax safety standards. Booth had wanted to change that. Conservatives and other opponents, meanwhile, said these tougher rules would make it harder for businesses to be productive. These rules, they argued, would keep a company from innovating.

Even worse, Brett Booth had strongly recommended putting an end to the high-speed car culture that had pervaded Hapilopper for decades. He had suggested regulations that would put an end to the 200 mph supercars that were so common on the TransHap highways. He wanted to put a stop to the NSSCRA specials, the cars that had been designed specifically to compete in both HASCAR and the NSSCRA, cars that could complete the Anderson Run – a trip north and south to the borders on the TransHap – in record time. He wanted to make it safe for someone to travel at 70 mph on the highway, rather than get blown off the road by someone carrying a casual 215 mph. Never mind the fact that speed was part of the Hapiloppian lifestyle.

“This is a man that is working against our interests,” Baxter said. “So, therefore, thinking of the last several years of this man’s disastrous leadership, I’d like to stand out here in front of all of you and declare we are voting NO CONFIDENCE in Brett Booth!”

Many in the room gasped. This was not expected. Many figured this would be another stump speech, not a speech to oust the current Hapiloppian President. A no-confidence vote in Hapilopper was exceedingly rare. Liberals jumped out of their seat and raged towards the Conservative side – well, most of them. Some of them – the far-left of the Liberal party – stayed seated and silent. They had a plan of their own, one that would oust Booth from behind and turn the Hapiloppian government even further left.

Brett Booth’s deputy leader, Bob Strange, stood up and walked toward Baxter. Nobody could hear what he was saying to the leader of the Conservatives, but it wasn’t pleasant.

About 30 minutes later, Brett Booth, drinking a cup of coffee in his office, was reading through different options for new regulations in the country – regulations that would require parliamentary approval. An aide rushed into his office, looking about as harried as he ever had been.

“What?” Booth asked.

“Baxter…” the aide started, trying to catch his breath. “Baxter called for a no confidence vote. Your deputy sucker-punched him on the floor. All hell broke loose.”

“I beg your pardon?” Booth asked.

What had happened, was Strange had walked right up to Baxter and cussed him out. Baxter dared him to do something. Strange decked Baxter with a right hook, causing a massive brawl between Liberals and Conservatives on the Parliament floor. All of this was televised. All of Hapilopper was treated to a large-scale brawl between lawmakers. And right in the middle of it was Tom Baxter and Bob Strange, throwing haymakers at each other.

Booth watched in horror as once again, the worst of Hapilopper was coming out.

Yangchenia Blazing Dragons
"In the flames of sport, our iron will is forged"

Yangchenia draws against Macbon in first World Cup Match
First goal since debut in BoF 87

The day finally came for Yangchenia’s debut in the World Cup following their loss in the Baptism of Fire, with the first match being against the national team of Macbon. Over 4000 Yanginis came to watch the first two matchdays live — including current sitting Princess of Yangchenia Sirivani Iliani Sihamoni Guul-la.

The Dragons had long been preparing for their return to the football world stage ever since the Baptism of Fire, with veteran goalkeeper Damdul Gyatso leading the team out of their dugouts for the match. As the whistle was blown and the match begun — the Yangini team quickly managed to gain possession of the ball within the first minute - with forwards Wu Hsaing almost scoring by the 8th minute. After that, the Macbonite team managed to steal the ball from Li Wunming by the 28th minute, managing to dodge both Sasha Saizi and Xi Tongpao’s attempts to seize the ball. The Dragons subsequently went on defence, midfielders pulling back to aid in the defence of the goal. The Macbonite team also failed to score a goal, with the teams exchanging possession of the ball for the next few minutes, and when halftime rang, the score was still tied 0-0.

As halftime ended, the ball fell into the Dragon’s possession, with Mei Wufang able to wrestle the ball out of the Macbonite team, passing it to Li Tongpao and then Wu Hsaing as he made a dash for the enemy goal. Yangini audiences hopes were high—and then came the moment they were waiting for—Hsaing had scored Yangchenia’s first goal in the world cup, and Yangchenia’s first goal since their match against Canamn in the Baptism of Fire in the 62nd

Forwards Tsamchoe Thaye also made a shot for the enemy goal, however the Macbonite goalkeeper was able to block his goals. After that, Macbon made their own attempt at the Yangini goal, managing to score in a goal at the 88th minute, ending the match as a draw.

Yangchenia loses to Juvencus in Matchday 2
Wait…we didnt win?

Location: Dome of the Thunder Panda, Lhamo, Yangchenia
Matchday 2 was a home game against the team of Juvencus, one of the highest ranked teams in the World Cup. The Yangini team returned home to face off the World Cup giants at the Dome of the Thunder Panda, one of the largest sporting stadiums in Yangchenia.

Across the country, the match against Juvencus was seen as an already lost match—the rank difference alone was enough to convince many that the national team stood little chance. However on the day of the match, the hopes were still high among many that the Dragons would pull off a miracle and hold their ground against the World Cup Titans.

The weather in Lhamo was cold, as it was the tail end of October when the match was scheduled to take place. The days were getting shorter, the nights ever longer - and the continent of Msalka neared its polar night. Weather stations reported that the temperature on that day was -10C, pretty cold for the people of Lhamo. However many people still turned up to the arena to watch their team play off against one of the higher ranked teams in the tournament.

The match began with both teams trading possession of the ball for the first few minutes, with the Blazing Dragons holding off Juvencus’s initial attempts at the goal. Their players were fast, with Ceferino Audiol getting close to the Yangini goal on the 27th minute, however was blocked by goalkeeper Damdul Gyatso. As the match entered halftime, the score was still at 0-0, with the Dragons managing to hold off many of the Juvencusite shots.

Image
Broadcast of the match at halftime (Source:sports.yn)

However things began to change after halftime, with Simon Oliviera stealing the ball from Xi Tongpao, passing it along to Carlo Bevilacqua who managed to score a goal, bringing the game to 0-1 in favor of Juvencus. For the rest of the match, the Blazing Dragons would play defense, however Wu Hsaing and Tsamchoe Thaye were still attempting goals, with Thaye almost landing a goal against Juvencus on the 78th minute.

As the last two minutes of the match unfolded, the ball was back in Yangini possession. Wu Hsaing was swift, nimbly avoiding the Juvencite defenders before striking at the goal. It seemed to be a hit, and the score shifted to 1-1. Tsamchoe Thaye followed suit, scoring another goal against Juvencus, ending the game 2-1.

Yangini crowds cheered at the result. Had the Dragons done the impossible, and defeated Juvencus? While celebrations erupted, referees began replaying the footage, before reversing the decision, as both Hsaing and Thaye’s goals were misses, having bounced off the goal instead of going in. The recall crushed many Dragons fans’ sprits, however for some, it was a sliver of hope that the Dragons can hold their ground, even against giants.

With the loss to Juvencus 0-1, the Dragons move on to their next match against the team of Sernet. Hopefully fate has better plans for the team.

i don't like your girlfriend – weki meki (for the camp lovers) || girlfriend - avril lavigne (also for the camp lovers)
(ok maybe they're not really camp they're camp to me)
Mia was all too familiar with the five stages of grief.

Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance.

She had always thought that it was somewhat of a cliche trope. It seemed that every emerging writer and established one alike had written a story revolving around it, no matter whether it had made it to the bookstore shelves or was lost to the endless pages of a notebook. Mia took pride in herself for being different: she never followed trends and cliches, and paved her own path as a romance-but-also-not-just-romance author. Leon and humans alike adored how fresh her stories read, but truth be told, it took her a lot of time and energy just to even come up with a compelling story.

Now, Mia was sat in her hotel room once again, trying to connect the dots, figure something out for her new romance novel. She had the rough outline of the story figured out: the main character tries her best to chase her lover who was in a relationship with someone else, and all her chasing led to her ultimate death. She already had an outline based on what she wrote when Félicien and Blanchefleur had that argument…

… for whatever reason, this story sounded quite personal.

But of course, Mia wasn’t the deluded type to think that she had a chance with Félicien anyway. Well, she liked the thought of being with him, but it wasn’t as if it was going to be a possibility any time soon. Not until he broke up, anyway.

Mia stared at her notebook, her eyes glued to the narrow lines that stretched across its pages and her right paw gripping onto her pen but not writing anything down. She didn’t know what to jot down. She didn’t know what story she wanted to tell. She didn’t know what to think. The obstacle in her psyche was too formidable, and the longer she sat there, the more frustrated she felt.

“Can’t fucking think of anything, dear lord,” she grumbled to herself as she threw her pen onto the ground and picked it up. She took a look at the clock: its hour hand was somewhere between 6 and 9; its minute hand was hovering around the 3.

8.15 a.m. Time for breakfast. Mia made her way to the hotel bar, her scrunched up face and heavy eyelids telling the story of her morning. She didn’t know why she woke up so early to write anyway.
Training was tiring, physically. Watching Félicien and Blanchefleur be all lovey-dovey in front of everyone was even more tiring. Mentally tiring.

Mia felt Yolaine plant her arm on her shoulder before pointing out the couple’s Very Public display of affection.

“Look at that,” Yolaine scoffed, “Get a room. Kids these days.”

“You’re not even that old, come on now.”

“A decade, Mia. A decade is all it takes for a generation to change, and for all I know people my age weren’t hugging and cuddling with each other during a training session.”

Mia went on with her day, but she still felt kind of… miffed? Annoyed? Exasperated? Her writer’s ass couldn’t find the right word for her feelings, but she still felt some sort of repulsion towards how Félicien and Blanchefleur were acting. She couldn’t really put a finger to it, though, and she wasn’t sure why. Surely it wasn’t because her feelings of loneliness started to burgeon whenever she saw a couple doing, well, couple things, was it? No, it couldn’t be. She was single, but not miserably single. She had a healthy group of friends! She was practically in a platonic relationship. If it wasn’t because of that, then what was the cause of her disgust? Was it because she felt jealous? Was it because she felt jealous that she didn’t have Félicien – oops, she meant, a boyfriend – as the world’s best boyfriend, and her boyfriend?

Of course not! That would be preposterous! She wouldn’t wish anything of that sort!

Or so, she told herself.

It took a grand total of an hour and thirty-something minutes before someone had to bring them up again.

“So, Féli and Fleur are like a thing, now?” Jean-André asked inquisitively, wolfing down his dinner of synthetic deer meat and a good dollop of pudding.

“Like it wasn’t obvious enough?” Godfrey replied incredulously, “Do you have eyes?”

“Sorry I don’t pay attention to everything,” Jean-André retorted. Mia had been sitting alongside the duo, silently listening to their conversation the entire dinner. Yolaine had gone off somewhere, and she was close enough to Jean-André to join his dinner table. If she didn’t know her teammates’ surnames, she would have thought the two were siblings.

“Weren’t you friends with Félicien, Mia?” Godfrey asked, finally deciding to let Mia into their conversation, “I swear I’ve seen you two together before.”

Mia took a while to digest the thought of her and Félicien being “together”.

“Oh, yeah,” she replied monotonously, “I've known him since we were teens.”

“Really?!” Jean-André asked with a raise in tone, “Wait, wait. Was he, y’know, this cheesy last time? Like, I’ve been best friends with this idiot, and he hasn’t acted this nonchalantly and romantically ever!” Mia replied with a shake of her head. Jean-André fell back onto his chair, his eyes wide open in exasperation.

“This guy… gets a girlfriend, then acts like she’s the entire world and ditches his own friends! Crazy!” he exclaimed, before looking around to make sure neither Félicien nor Blanchefleur were in the same dinner room.

“Where are the two anyway?” Godfrey asked, and to that Mia agreed. Where were they? Actually, where have they been outside of training? The only times Mia had ever heard – not even seen – them was when they were bickering next door. Where were they? Mia craned her neck to look out for them. Nope, not here. It did make her wonder if the two ever existed outside of training sessions and actual matches.

The rest of the dinner went by pretty mundanely. Jean-André and Godfrey continued to talk about fishing and lionesses – Mia felt slightly uncomfortable – whilst she would chime in once or twice whenever the topic of “Best Singer” cropped up. All the talking but mostly listening that she had been doing made her lose count of the number of plates that had been quietly stacking up on the table: 5 dinner plates and 6 dessert ones! The volume of food she’d just consumed didn’t really get to her until she stood up and her stomach suddenly felt like it was attracted to the ground. It took some strength to even walk, but Mia managed to get her feet going.

Sauntering to the lift, Mia’s humming was the only source of noise in the otherwise empty hallway. Her paw pressed on the lift button, and she stood directly in front of the door, tapping her foot to the beat of her song. The food coma was starting to really, really hit her. She was ready to just flop onto her bed and sleep like a princess, and when the lift finally arrived, the door opened and oh of course it was the damn couple.

Well, at least she had evidence they didn’t phase out of reality between training sessions.

Mia made her way to the slide of the lift with the buttons, and the gulf between her and the two was big enough to house maybe an entire universe. Her eyes remained firmly glued to the ground. The breaths exhaled from all three of their noses was the only audible thing in the lift. Mia tried to take a peek at Félicien and Blanchefleur without raising her head. Blanchefleur seemed to have some sort of look, but Mia couldn’t figure out whether it was jealousy, possessiveness, or pure confusion. What she did notice was Blanchefleur snuggling ever closer onto Félicien’s arm. Félicien’s buff, muscular arm. Félicien’s toned, rock-hard, veiny arm. Suddenly Mia felt jealous. She wished she was in Blanchefleur’s position. She wasn’t the touchiest with Félicien, but she had held onto his arm before, and from then on she had a thing for muscular arms.

Mia continued to sneak some looks at the couple whilst acting all nonchalant. Folding her arms, she propped her chest up and took a few looks at Félicien’s figure. He had a really nice figure, and maybe that was why Mia was so enthralled with him. She was a sucker for a lean, muscular build, and Félicien fit that bill perfectly. Of course, Mia was also into him for other reasons, but from the time they were friends, she had always… appreciated, to put it mildly, his physique. It was just a shame that she wouldn’t be able to explore his body further, was it not? At least not while he had this jealous lass hugging his arm like the relationship depended on it.

Envy was brewing in the lift. Mia liked to think she had won this proxy battle against Blanchefleur by making her slightly jealous when Mia was in the lift, but at the same time Mia’s eyes were turning green from seeing Blanchefleur being so close with Félicien, so who won in the end?

Those thirty, maybe forty, seconds in the lift felt like minutes, and how awkward those minutes were. When the lift finally reached their floor, Mia was the first to dash out of it, making a beeline towards her room. The food coma was kicking in, and all she could think of was sleep. She swore she heard one of the two let out a sigh when she left.

Mia didn’t want to think about brushing her teeth, writing the stupid novel, the stupid couple, anything. As soon as the door was opened, she dove into her bed and her eyes immediately shut. Her fatigue overwhelmed her as her breathing began to stabilise…

…and then she woke up.

Cough.

Mia woke up to herself coughing.

Cough. Cough.

It didn’t seem to be stopping.

Cough.

It didn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Mia had to smother herself in her pillow to avoid being a noise pollutant. Her throat, her chest felt unusually tight and painful as she fully woke up from her slumber. After her coughing fit reduced to nothing more than a hiccup, she found herself panting, and panting hard she was. She felt breathless for a few seconds, and it took her a few more to feel at ease.

Just what was that?

The tightness in her chest had subsided just as quickly as it came, and suddenly Mia was a groggy lioness short of sleep at 3.40 in the morning. She tossed and turned around in bed, but nothing could lull her to dreamland. As she lay on the bed, eyes wide open, she felt an annoyance, but also a longing. A longing for someone to be by her side… to be there to help her when she was going through it… to be able to comfort her back to sleep…

She needed Félicien. And his arm. But mostly him.

ONE WIN AND ONE LOSS IN OPENING ROUND OF WORLD CUP QUALIFYING

After a week of hard-fought football, Bunta Kunio’s Stewartikan side walks away with three points from a possible two - a loss away to Skyberius on the opening day, followed by a dominant win against Sajnur at Illney.

Skyberius 3-0 Stewartika

Nothing out of the ordinary happened traveling to Skyberius, so hopes were high for a favorable result. Those hopes, however, were dashed as the Skyberian national team proceeded to put three goals through an unresistant Stewartikan defense, with the attack not registering much either. In the following press conference, Kunio had this to say:

“Yes, it’s a shame that we had to start our qualifying campaign off on a loss. But to think of this favorably, I’m glad the boys got a good kick in the pants early on to lose the cockiness - I think our perfect group stage run in the BoF caused us to really underestimate our next opponent. Hopefully this will have the lads take each game a bit more seriously going forward, and we can qualify despite this setback.”

Q: Do you think that Sjoberg should be struggling to net like he did today?

“…No, not at all. He will deliver.”

Stewartika 5-1 Sajnur

On Matchday Two, Illney Stadium finally saw its first taste of World Cup action. Underneath the Pig City stars, the stadium was absolutely packed to the brim with fans, ready to cheer Royal Purple on past their initial loss. Underneath the cauldron-like atmosphere, the game got kicked off.

While Stewartika initially dominated the possession and battered Sajnur in their half, a lazy slip by Hijikata allowed the traveling team to counter attack, resulting in the Sajnuran striker bagging an early goal. Suddenly shocked silent, Illney Stadium’s fans dragged down the Pigs’ morale until the tempo increased again - Sung lobbing on a perfect through ball to the new boy, Sjoberg - and with a bullet diving header the scores were level again and Illney explodes. Performing his signature “you can’t see me” celebration, Sjoberg whips the Stewartikan crowd into a frenzy as the game is truly on.

Underneath the rejuvenated fans and the feverish pitch in the stadium, Stewartika surged forward again and again. Shot after shot registered, with more balls finding Sjoberg and the striker netting two more goals off of them with his left and right boots - completing a perfect first half hat trick. As the whistle blows for half-time, the atmosphere doesn’t seem to decrease an inch even as some leave their seats for refreshments.

Returning to the pitch, it was clear that Stewartika had no intention of sitting back and trying to defend their two goal margin - they smelled blood, and wanted even more. Sajnur was helpless as Stewartika attacked again and again, Sjoberg an omnipresent demon of a player that hounded the keeper and center backs like prey. His patience was rewarded as two more balls found the back of the net - a penta-trick in just his second game in Stewartikan colors, tearing off his shirt before the jubilant spectators. Listen:

From a neutral broadcaster:

Bravo! Again, and yet again, bravo! Welcome to the show, Viktor Sjoberg - may you find everlasting glory here among the Pig City sky! What a game for him, and what a game for THEM!

Full time sounds, and Stewartika walk away with a dominant win, and the bloody debut of their new greatest weapon.

THREE NATIONS SPORTING CHRONICLE

Despite manager Udo Kluckhohn’s attempts to improve the team’s attacking ability following continued poor offensive showings and lackluster play, the North Polish Union started out their bid to qualify for World Cup 100 in typically Kluckhohn fashion, granting both opponents clean sheets. The loss to higher-ranked Banija was hardly a surprise, but the team followed that up with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kita-Hinode, ranked roughly 300 spots below the Union and the second-lowest-ranked team in the qualifying group.

The team features an all-new forward group and partly rebuilt midfield, and after an admittedly small two-game sample size, they appear to have completely failed to gel as a unit and completely spun their tires unable to gain momentum, even against what should’ve been an overmatched Kita-Hinode squad.

The embattled Kluckhohn has vowed to improve the team offense, despite his reputation for a strongly defense-first philosophy. The Union’s sports analysts, on the other hand, are skeptical given his team’s histories well-documented attacking woes and consider him a known quantity as manager. Kluckhohn was believed to be coaching for his job in this World Cup cycle and although qualification to the main event was not likely an expectation, a finish in the top half of the group absolutely was and a unfortunate start puts the Union in the bottom of the group standings trying to make up ground.

In the upcoming weeks, the Chronicle plans to run a series of interviews with and articles on the life of legendary fashion designer Uwe Bärwald. Sports fans will know Bärwald as the designer of uniforms for the Union’s Olympians and the football national teams. In addition to his sporting work, Bärwald has been a progressive voice in the fashion industry both at home and abroad in his attempts to make fashion accessible to people of all classes through an approach that focuses on casual and everyday wear that the haute fashion designs typically seen on runways. He is also known for being a relatively outspoken member of the LGBT community in a country that has at times been maligned as being behind the times on this issue, and where in many regions religious authorities still hold major influence. Our series will commence shortly with an interview with Bärwald discussing his childhood and young adulthood and how those experiences shaped his fashion career.

Bhumi Matawis Empire - 1999 General Election, The Game Changer Part 1

Following the enactment of the new party law, many political parties were established. The new law is quite interesting. The law not just relaxed the creation and establishment of new political parties but also increased the possibilities of creating regional-based parties while also decreasing or even negating the existence of a nation-wide party with the implementation of ballot access. This part of the law was surprisingly welcomed by party leaders. They argue that a nation-wide party consumes a huge amount of budget to maintain considering the large and wide the Empire is. Thus, breaking up the already existing parties also became a phenomenon leading to the election. Aliansi Nasional become the only party that breaks up intentionally to reached larger voters in regional area but these parties are still in coalition under Aliansi Nasional. Four of these parties are considered a major party as they get access to more than half of the total 450 seats contested in this election.
  • Partai Rakyat Matawis (PRM) - Matawis People’s Party
Partai Rakyat Matawis is a center to center-right party established in 1970 by Prawiroharjo as Sarikat Rakyat Matawis. Its current president was Akbar Zaenuddin.
Sarikat Rakyat Matawis was established based on Prawiroharjo's ambition to led the country under the military rule. Throughout the Third Empire Era, this party become a dominant one by winning all the elections held during the era. The party changed its name leading to the 1999 general election. It lost their military support as the military wing was disbanded after the frictions between the military and civic wings grew larger and with the law that banned active military personnel to involved in politics. However, many former army generals are still active as members of the party. The name change is also intended to establish a new vibe away from the former Sarikat Rakyat Matawis who has been marked as a dominant, corrupt and authoritarian party.
For the 1999 general election, the party had an access ballot to 6 states and the capital Kartasura. The states are Mangkualam, Pakunagara, Wahanten, Shri Inderapura, Belanak and Koti. In total, they competed in 389 seats out of 450.
  • Partai Sosialis Komunis Matawis (PSKM) - Matawis Socialist and Communist Party
PSKM is one of the first political parties in the Empire. A center-left party in the left-right political spectrum, the party was established in 1948 as a merger of two former large communities, the socialist and communist community. Munarwanto was the President at the time.
Leading to the 1999 general election, the party faced an internal conflict which led to separation by some of their members. The conflict was started in late 1992 in the party’s annual national conference. One of the agenda was to select the new president of the party as the former president, Supomo, decided to step down. However, the election of the president faced a deadlock as no candidate received a majority of votes. Then, the party’s council chose Munarwanto who at the time received the highest vote (but not the majority) to lead the party until further election commenced. His main rival, Mirayanti Putri Soleh who is also the daughter of PSKM first leader Achmad Soleh, seems upset with the result. Their relationship is strained after Mirayanti accused Munarwanto as a spy of the government who was planted in the party to control it. An accusation that was denied by him, but it was believed by some of the members. The situation became intense after their headquarters was burned down in 1998. No one knows who did it as the police didn’t go through with the investigation. Suspicions arise between Munarwanto-side and Mirayanti-side. Then in early 1999, Mirayanti decided to resign from PSKM. With her followers, she established a new party, Partai Demokrasi Matawis.
Munarwanto continues to lead the party. For the 1999 general elections, they got ballot access in 5 states, Mangkualam, Wahanten, Shri Inderapura, Belanak and Tomini together with access to the capital Kartasura for a total of 274 of 450 seats.
  • Majelis Syuro Muslim Matawis (Masyuma) - Matawis Muslim Assembly
It was one of the first political parties in the Empire back in 1950. It was created by Abdullah Abu Bakar Syafei and based in Bantam, Wahanten. The party grew to become one of the largest religious-based parties in the country after Majelis Tinggi Jamangen (changed to Partai Jamangen in the 1999 election). The party reduced its political activity following the enactment of the new law under Prawiroharjo administration where only 3 political parties may join the election. Throughout the Third Empire era, this organization focused on muslim education throughout the Empire. They established their own education institution named Yayasan Taqwa, Taqwa Institution.
With the relaxation of the party law, Masyuma President, Abdurrahman Yasin announced their intention to compete in the election. In 1998, Masyuma decided to separate the administration of Taqwa Institution so it became on its own apart from the party itself. The party received 270 ballot access in Muslim-majority states such as Wahanten, Shri Inderapura, Belanak, Koti, and others.
  • Bangun Negoro (BN) - Build the Nation
Bangun Negoro is a center-right political party and the largest of the break-ups of Aliansi Nasional. Its headquarter is at the capital Kartasura. Budi Kartosuwiryo was the President at the time.
This party is the essence of Aliansi Nasional, Established in 1920 as a youth movement for education and media publishing, it expanded into politics in the late 1940s. It changed its name into Aliansi Nasional for the 1950 general election as an expression that the party reached beyond the metropole. Following the enactment of the new party law, it came back to its roots. The party gain ballot access in 4 states, Mangkualam (only Jama and Pasudara parts), Pakunagara (Jama part only), Mahameru and Wahanten (Pasudara part only) with the capital, Kartasura for a total of 243 out of 450 seats.
In total, there were more than 20 parties entered in the 1999 general election.
  • Aliansi Nasional Coalition (437 out of 450 ballot access)
Bangun Negoro (243/450) - Build the Nation
Partai Timur Raya (74/450) - Great East Party
Partai Andalas Bersatu (87/450) - United Andalas Party
Partai Rakyat Kalamantha (33/450) - Kalamantha People's Party

The Hares defeated - Twice!
Maks Pohve • Harbude

Thousands of fierce, fervent and fanatic Woodsmerean fans were eager to spectate Woodsmere's first qualifying match, against Himurajima. In a brief moment of patriotism, the Woodsmerean flag was raised everywhere - from inside homes to bus stops to trains to cafés in preparation for the coming matches. Contrary to the expectations of winning, an embarrassing defeat against Himurajima's perceivedly inexperienced team was a blow to the morale of the Hares. But the nation and the Hares were still not going to fully give up hope.

The White Stars of Saint Eleanor, a much respected team, was up next. Various critics predicted the Hares would not even manage to score a singular goal against them. The Hares lost 2-4, but this time the Hares actually managed to score a couple of goals. The goals were both scored by Jeremy Roheline at 15' and 67'. A special mention goes to Ninde Markuz for his extraordinary assist. Mäx Plevi and Garċa Radjas have also been posting various videos on social media, like videos of the goalkeeper training. This has brought some joy to the nation.

Comments from our website (translated):

@ana8701 said: Congrats Jeremy , bring the Hares to glory!!!

@AdorableFilter said: These Hares need to give up alread, they have no chance of winning. Maybe they stand a draw against Avote, but that's literally it. Everyone ought to quit, especially the awful goalkeeper Tanel.

@Matti_P said: @AdorableFilter, stop being so negative. After all we are all Meares aren't we?

@woodsmereanpepe said: Anyone seeing this in 2025?

We also had an interview with Jeremy Roheline:
Interviewer: So, Jeremy, what would you like to say about the support you've been receiving lately?
Jeremy: Yeah yeah, it's been a delight really to get all these positive comments. Thank you to everyone, please wish us the best! But we also need to mention Markuz because without him I would have only scored 1 goal.
Interviewer: Many have been asking about your background. What would you say your early life was like?
Jeremy: Yes, my childhood was an emotional rollercoaster. I actually come from Dorpatia2 and settled in the working class suburbs of Glēre at the age of 14. It was a completely different world, and I felt isolated from my friends and family in Woodsmere. I've got to admit the quality of life was way better though. I was bullied at school for my green vibrating fidget toy which I still play with. During my school years, I trained hard in football, aced all the school football leagues and matches. Qualified for Glēre's football club at 21. Heard about this new national team they were creating, and easily qualified. Honestly, when I look back at my younger self, I feel proud of getting this far. I also give credit to my green vibrating fidget toy, because yes.
Interviewer: Would you rather play for Dorpatia?
Jeremy: There certainly is an element of patriotism for Dorpatia, where I was born and where I ethnically come from. But then Woodsmere is just as important; in Woodsmere I feel a sense of belonging - almost like a duty to excel. So, I honestly dunno but I'd go for Woodsmere.
Interviewer: Coming up, we have some questions from social media. @vibreerib1234567420 asked, Do you speak Estonian? Roheline means green in Estonian.
Jeremy: A bit, but all I can say is "JEREMY ON ROHELINE, JEREMY VIBREERIB". It means Jeremy is green, Jeremy vibrates. I say to myself every morning to motivate myself.
Interviewer: ....Interesting. Next question from @100littlemenshalsksks (odd username indeed), what is your favourite colour?
Jeremy: PURPLE! PURPLE! PURPLE!
Interviewer: Hm okay, @anonymousanonymous asked, "What do you do in your free time?"
Jeremy: Umm... Err... well... we don't talk about that.
Interviewer: Why not?
Jeremy: Just no.
Interviewer: Alright then, that's the end of our interviewer Jeremy. Thank you for being with us today!
Jeremy: No worries. Goes back to playing with his green vibrating fidget toy

Stadiums for Visitors

It is recommended you get a 55 Token (approximately $74.80) travel ticket for unlimited travel in 1 month to travel by rail across the nation. If stuck, don't be afraid to ask local for assistance, for they can help you easily.

Randvu Stadium, Wassenstad - With a capacity of 95,000 seats, Randvu is the largest stadium in Woodsmere. Located in the capital city of 4.2 million, it is a new but large stadium to deal with the huge swathes of prospective fans. There is a dedicated 200-metre pathway that leads to Randvu Transport Hub, with metro connections all the way to Wassenstad International Airport. In this newly completed complex, there are approximately 10,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of this transport hub. In the stadium itself, there are many amenities like free WiFi, and food available for a modern experience. Parking is not available to reduce local traffic.

Cascade Stadium, Fórlan - Located in Fórlan - a thriving city of 1.3 million people- Cascade Stadium has a seating capacity of 68,000. There are 2,000 parking spaces underground and a highway located just next to it. There is also a bus leading to Fórlan Central Terminal from which you can get to Wassenstad in just 55 minutes.

Redbricks Stadium, Glēre - In a city of 3.1 million, Redbricks Stadium has 81,000 seats. It is named red bricks after the authentic red bricks produced in the many factories of Glēre. It was built in 2013, but then renovated last year to prepare for potential international tournaments. It is located next to a metro station with trains to Glēre City Airport leaving every 8 minutes. There are also many buses leading to the city centre and the outer suburbs of the city. There is free WiFi and a high street in a 3 minutes walk, convenient to buy anything needed. There are many cheap inns in Glēre City Centre to stay for over the night.

Rivergreen Stadium, Wassenstad - 58,000 seats are available. You can reach Wassenstad International Airport in just 15 minutes by train. Construction was finished just 5 months ago. World Cup 100 Qualifying - Article
Matchday 1 and 2

Two Wins and Top of the Group

Dream Start for Choppyhausen

Choppingen – Football fever was in full swing on the streets of Choppyhausen before the opening matchday of these World Cup qualifiers. And for good reason – after their brilliant silver-medal run at the Baptism of Fire, expectations were sky-high. Everyone wanted to know how the Team in Teal would fare against more established international opponents. Two matches in, the answer is clear: they can win.

Manager Harmon Merrit had called for “respect and humility” ahead of the first match against Valentine Z, repeatedly stressing the opponent’s experience and quality — the Valentians were, after all, competing in their eleventh World Cup cycle. And for the opening spell, that gulf in pedigree showed.

As usual, Valentine Z lined up in their ultra-offensive setup — four attackers, two defenders — and immediately pressed Choppyhausen deep into their own half. Captain Weiner-Kracht had to be sharp early, denying fierce efforts from Sedláčková (4’) and Polańska (9’). When it seemed like Choppyhausen were just beginning to settle, the visitors struck. Andika took advantage of a positional lapse from Holdenbeck to feed Konstantinovich, who stayed ice-cool one-on-one and chipped the ball neatly over Weiner-Kracht for 1–0 (22’). The Valentians could have doubled their lead through the same player (28’, 36’), but instead Choppyhausen hit back before the break.

After Lukeson was brought down just outside the box, Corte stepped up to take the free kick. His strike took a deflection off Chiyumi in the wall and looped unstoppably into the net — not only the equalizer, but Choppyhausen’s first ever World Cup qualifying goal.

Valentine Z continued to dominate possession after the restart, but the side coached by Superintendent Clarissa began to run out of ideas in the final third. D’Elia wasted a promising chance from Polańska’s through ball (53’), and Sedláčková was again denied by the inspired Weiner-Kracht minutes later. Choppyhausen, meanwhile, focused on quick counterattacks — few, but deadly. In the 66th minute, Lampe won the ball near his own box and launched Iduna on an 80-metre solo run. The winger brushed off Sreynuon and McMahon before curling a superb finish past Marshall for 2–1. And with only their third shot on target, Choppyhausen had the lead.

They’d have just one more effort on goal — and it went in, too. Tyr picked up a layoff from Keil in the 84th minute and unleashed a thunderbolt from 24 metres, clocked at 104 km/h, that tore past the two Valentian defenders and into the top corner. A statement strike to seal a 3–1 upset win over the heavy favourites.

Motivated by that triumph, Choppyhausen carried confidence into matchday two away to Lignuntia. Against the complete newcomers to international football — they hadn’t even competed at the Baptism of Fire — a win was an absolute must if the Team in Teal wanted to keep their World Cup qualification dream alive. But the “routine victory” turned out to be more complicated than expected.

Unlike against Valentine Z, Merrit’s men started in full control — now the favourites themselves, and eager to prove it. They struck immediately: in the third minute, Tyr released Keil down the left, who beat his marker and crossed perfectly for Corte to head home. And the pressure didn’t stop there. In the 14th minute, Keil turned scorer, cutting inside after a one-two with Bender-McKay and curling a fine shot into the top right corner for 2–0.

But then, complacency crept in — much to Merrit’s frustration. “Two-nil is the most dangerous lead in football,” he told the Choppingen Post afterwards. “Some of them clearly forgot that today.” Lignuntia took full advantage of the extra space they were suddenly given, scoring twice (26’, 45+2) to level the game before halftime.

After the break, Choppyhausen needed a moment to regain composure. Holdenbeck produced two crucial tackles (48’, 54’) to prevent further damage before the visitors found their rhythm again. Lukeson hit the outside of the post (58’), and only a few minutes later, Corte restored the lead — his second of the night — after a deft lobbed pass from Tyr split the defence (61’). Just four minutes later, Lukeson added a fourth, finishing neatly after a quick one-two with Finch, putting the result beyond doubt. Lignuntia managed a late consolation in the 81st minute, but the double blow had already sealed their fate.

Two games, two wins — Choppyhausen’s first-ever World Cup qualifying campaign couldn’t have begun better. The Team in Teal sits temporarily atop their group, holding the direct qualification spot. Next up: a home fixture against New Arbuckle, who have lost both of their opening matches, before a tricky test against Surne, who stunned group favourites TJUN-ia in their own opener.

Minute in Führung brachte.

SPORT- 6 point window for the Islanders as the 'Roos get off to a strong start at World Cup 100 Qualifying

LAKISKA, SOUTH ISLAND, BUSOGA ISLANDS- Nothing was going to be easy at World Cup 100 Qualifying, and that has been a point emphasized in the entire buildup by the entire team. "Look, I know we're in Pot 2, higher expectations and what not- but frankly, we're a small nation without a long history of success." Said the team's goalkeeper, Ulus Talay. "While we believe in ourselves, other nations are probably looking at Busoga in Pot 2, and saying something along the lines of 'hey, that's a preferable nation from the pot- we've received a favorable draw." And while there isn't much media on Busoga, analysis from other nations, particularly in Banija, has confirmed these statements to largely be true- many nations consider the Busogans to be a favorable opponent to be in a group with. The Busogans are using that as motivation- a chance to prove themselves in World Cup Qualifying, to show that they can consistently compete at this level.

They went up against a pair of debutants in the first window. First, they would open up the Qualifying campaign at home, against Moon Deing. "A game that was never going to be easy us, considering the new faces in midfield and up top." Millet, the team's manager, told reporters. It was largely a slow game to start off- Busoga's defensive style means that they are not a team that is really built to take the initiative and really attack lower ranked opponents, so quite a boring game for the first half an hour or so. Moon Deing had the game's first legitimate chance- a through ball put their striker through on goal, and a recovering Fajkat Balli, who is Busoga's CB, made a sliding challenge. It looked good live, but VAR took a look, and determined he touched the ball with his arm during the slide. Penalty kick.

On the brink of a disastrous start- but Ulus Talay made the save. The goalkeeper is often criticized, as after all this time, he's never been able to make a jump to the top flight. But it doesn't matter what tier of domestic soccer he's playing- he confidently guessed correctly and made a spectacular save on the Moon Deing penalty, keeping the score tied at 0-0. Shortly before halftime, it was Busoga who would take advantage of the situation, with a header from Ayben Uzun, the team's #9, breaking the deadlock in the 43rd minute. 1-0 to the Islanders going into halftime- and the defense would suffocate Moon Deing. Not a ton of opportunities in the second half either- a drab, but effective, 1-0 win for the Islanders. "We were tight in defense, stuck to our gameplan, we'll take a 1-0 win." Millet told reporters. "Just one matchday out of 16 so far, however- we got the 3 points, but important not to read too much into it. Let's take what we can improve, and apply those lessons to our next contest."

Busoga's next contest was traveling to Phoenicia, in a game that was completely the opposite of their home opener. Instead of a physical, low-scoring game, we got one that was high-paced, and wide open. Not the type of game that the Busogans want to have too many of- it's not their style, it's not how they want to play. But on this day, it was the game we had to play, and the Islanders were ready for it. Four different times, the Busogans found the net away from home, and they came out with a 4-2 victory. It was a game where the Phoenician hosts actually opened the scoring, with a 12th minute header. But when we came after it, our attacking players were balling. Abu Sesay was playing at the level he had been during Istria City's triumphant club season- two first half goals for the winger to ensure that, by halftime, the Busogans led 2-1.

Phoenicia really came after it in the second half, and Busoga counter-attacked to devastating effectiveness. In the 53rd minute, they were able to get numbers forward on the counter, and Sesay assisted Omar Jallow for his first career goal. And then, in the 72nd minute, Unlem Olmez came off the bench to score his first ever goal for the NT. Phoenicia scored in stoppage time to give us our final score. "6 points from 6- a fantastic window." Said Coro Dibahari, the team captain. "But it's still early- qualifying campaigns are not won and lost on the first two matchdays. We got a bye upcoming- we'll rest up, and be ready for a scrappy Aethelia team at home. They drew against Bostopia on MD1, so they will be a tough opponent- but one that we need to be ready for. Want to make it three from 3."

POLITICS- A Summary of the last 3 years of Busogan Politics

LAKISKA, SOUTH ISLAND- An insane period of Busogan politics over the last couple of years, right? A cancelled election, to postponed, to having to be redone... Hard for those who don't follow Busogan politics intensely to follow. But let's give a clue...

#1 Arrest of Orag Saglik

If you all remember, Delbin Kasekende Sr. was running for a fifth 6 year term, against Orag Saglik. He was expected to cruise, and then, events began to go against him- to almost a dramatic effect. Polling started being terrible, then the death of An Ambassador abroad, etc... Saw things get absolutely crazy. Eventually, the Justice Department in Busoga Islands brought charges against the Saglik campaign for basically spending more campaign money than they were allowed to- which blew everything up.

It turned out, the Saglik campaign was tied into the Oyo family, which is a Banijan-Busogan transnational mob family. They worked together, essentially, to try and rig the election, and turn the Busoga Islands into a sort of narcostate. Rumor has it that the Oyo family had help from foreign mob families, but that was never definitively proven in a court of law.

Saglik got arrested, and members of the Oyo family, who were directly implicated in a terror bombing in Quebec that killed a Busogan diplomat, were purged and arrested by authorities from Banija, Quebec, and the Busoga Islands. But with the frontrunner candidate getting arrested, how do you have an election?

#2 Busogan democracy in crisis

An unprecedented situation, one that the Busogan constitution was not equipped to handle. Delbin Kasekende was eager to avoid being seen as trying to cancel an election in his own favor- although the Courts were the ones to postpone the election. To ensure that he wouldn't be seen as trying to re-do an election for his own benefit, he announced his decision to not run for re-election- shocking observers, both at home and abroad. 24 (well, 25.5) years of Delbin Kasekende as President of the Islamic Republic- coming to an end.

New rules were written up, and they went abroad. Quebecois Commonwealth agreed to supervise elections. Banijans, naturally, were not involved.

#3 New elections

Kasekende's Vice President ran against a new nationalist candidate, Ulker Kavak. A much more tame campaign, without as much vitriol- although, naturally, still a hotly contested campaign. One that was a testament to the strength of Busogan democracy, that it largely passed by without interference or incident.

In the two man race, Ulker Kavak won with 56% of the vote, and was elected as the President of the Islamic Republic. That said, Delbin Kasekende's political party won a slim majority in the legislature, so the Busoga Islands have their first ever period of divided governance.

Ulker Kavak's party is one that is known to be much more anti-Banijan than President Kasekende's, and believes that the Kingdom of Baniija is a destabilizing, imperial force in Arrosia. He was harshly critical of the accession of Lugave into Banija, and is known to center his foreign policy around limiting Banijan influence in both the Busoga Islands, and Arrosia as a whole. It has caused a slight cold front in Busogan-Banijan relations, but the thick economic and cultural ties have preserved the integrity of the relationship- for now, anyways.

Domestically, he is a big promoter of the nation's islamic identity- although, without legislative majorities, his ability to pass domestic legislation will be limited, which means he might really have a wandering eye abroad to really make an impact.

SERNET VS. JUVENCUS ENDS UP IN A DISAPPOINTING 1-0 LOSS...

the match:

Sernesports TV
Reporter: Grzegorz Woskiewicz

Match Report: Juvencus 1–0 Sernet

Our boys fell to a narrow 1–0 defeat against Juvencus on a tough night at the Electro Stadium, despite putting in a strong and determined performance.

The match started evenly, with both sides showing good energy and organization. Oluwawa created a few early chances, and Bolsting looked sharp in attack, but neither team could find a breakthrough in the first half. The defense held firm, and goalkeeper Pasarowski made an important save to keep the score level going into the break at the 44th minute, denying Juven attacker Pau Vives, who had been subbed on just a minute earlier, a chance to score. The referee made two bookings, handing yellow cards to Juven defender Callejon for a foul and sernetian midfielder Jatrowski for the same reason.

In the second half, the game opened up. Sernet continued to push forward, but it was Ceferino Audiol, a Juven forward, who took the lead in the 83rd minute, taking advantage of a small defensive mistake. After that, the squad worked hard to respond, keeping much of the possession and creating several good opportunities.

Despite their efforts and pressure late in the game, the equalizer just wouldn’t come. The players showed great teamwork and spirit until the final whistle, but luck wasn’t on their side this time. Disappointed Sernetian fans, who had flown in all this way just to see us lose, wailed in agony. But they continued to support the team, enthusiastically waving the sernetian flags emblazoned with the names of their home towns, and proudly wearing our deep blue shirts.

While the result was disappointing, there were still many positives to take — especially the team’s effort, discipline, and commitment. With performances like this, we feel confident about bouncing back against Yangchenia at Seven Bridges and against Yuezhou, an away match. The scoreline may have not been in our favour, but with #thepowerofsernet we can always come back. gg.
Also good luck Yangchenia : )

SERNET HOPES FOR GOALS

Pre-match analysis for MATCHDAY 3 VS YANGCHENIA @ SEVEN BRIDGES
and MATCHDAY 4 VS YUEZHOU @ YUEZHOU

by Damian Weslom

starting 11 against Yangchenia:

Image

starting 11 against Yuezhou:
Same as starting 11 vs Yangchenia, except for the following changes:
-Bob Yarisem starts, replacing S. Jatrowski
-forward L. Sakayo replaces R. Alforez in midfield
-S. Zerning replaces Tworpowski
-Twisk starts in goal, Pasarowski gets to rest

Analysis:
For Sernet, the next two matches present two back-to-back opportunities: one to assert dominance at home, the other to demonstrate grit away from home. If the boys execute the game-plan well, manage the transitions and pressures, and if all the players step up—this could be a very productive period. We could bag a juicy 6 points, allowing us to forget the disappointing loss against Juvencus last matchday.

Firstly, we face the Yangchenia blazing dragons at Seven Bridges, Setelendisen. They are a theocratic monarchy and also a necrocracy, whatever that may be. Like us, they seem to have a keen interest in space, and their country is spread across multiple planets. However they have a smaller population than Sernet, numbering at around 34 million. They also have an interesting range of sports, with various martial arts being very popular, alongside football. Many of their players were formerly part of the Yangchenian military. They also seem to have angered Juvencus, who they have also lost to recently, by taunting them with incorrect demonyms. They drew against Macbon in their other match, meaning they have a point on the table.
The Blazing dragons have already touched down in Sernetesen Storimidros International, as well as a swarm of their fans. With all due respect, hopefully they return home without any more points than they had previously. Good luck Sernet.

Secondly, we face Yuezhou. We know it's an away match, but the venue is to be confirmed. Apparently their name is actually spelt Yue Zhou, but now we've gotten used to the previous spelling. Apparently they were once a force to be reckoned with, but they appear to have dipped. Sernetian fans are already flying into Nangang, the capital, ready to watch this potentially groundbreaking match. But there may be issues, as we haven't got much information about the country...

As usual, all of us from Sernefoot and Sernesports TV wish our boys luck.

next at Sernesports TV, I interview sernetian fans at Seven Bridges.

Damian: Hello and welcome Sernet! Damian Weslom here, reporting live outside Seven Bridges stadium, and the atmosphere is absolutely electric ahead of tonight’s clash against Yangchenia. Let’s hear what the fans have to say before the match!

approaches and older man wearing a Sernet shirt and a sernet beanie, accompanied by a boy, probably his grandson, wearing a sernetian away shirt and a sernetian flag painted on his face.

Hello sir, are you excited for tonight's match?

Old man: Aye, I'm buzzing with joy - can't wait to ses the show the boys will put on! The lads have been training hard, and at home, we’ve got the edge. I’m expecting a solid performance — maybe two-nil to Sernet if the boys keep their heads. Yangchenia are going to have a tough time against them. And you know the saying 'Home crowd's the twelfth player' before? That definitely applies. Them dragons got a tough nut to crack.

Grandson: Come on Sernet! I think we'll beat them. Im so sure of it I've even painted my face.

Damian continues interviewing

Young man witb sernet scarf: Tonight's gonna be a loud tonight! We been waiting all week for this. You just know when Sernet plays here, something happens. I’m betting Bolsting will score - he’s due one! We can snatch a win tonight, my gut is telling me we can. Imma sing the whole 90 minutes and treat meself to a burger if we win.

Teenager wearing sernet goalkeeper kit: Bro i always watch sernet play. No matter the weather, sun, rain or snow, no matter whether I'm watching at the stadium or at home on TV, I always watch our boys play. I love my country and Id love sernet to win. They're going to break Yangchenian ankles tonight, mark my words.

Middle-aged man wearing vintage sernet kit: Listen, this place is gonna be bouncing. The players will feel it the second they walk out. If we score early, it’s over for them. I’ve got a feeling we’ll win by a couple — two-nil or three-one. I’ve seen a lot of Sernet sides since I was a boy, and this one’s got grit. You can tell the manager’s instilled belief. It’s not just about flair — it’s about discipline. Keep it tight, take our chances, and we’ll get the job done. COME ON SERNET!

Young boy with Mum and Dad: Young boy: Three goals! Three goals! Sernet three goals!
Dad: He's predicting a hat trick; we hope he's right!
Mum: Of course he is! Time to show them what we've got! We're going to win our next TWO matches at the least!

Damian: There we are. Clearly everyone is excited. Seven Bridges is quickly filling up with fans from both countries. The trains are packed, the streets are flooded by supporters, and those who aren't watching from the stadium will have their eyes glued to the telly. We're ready. COME ON SERNET!

SUPPORTER'S JOURNEY TO SEVEN BRIDGES.

Hi there. My name's Dan. I live in Lofnolmesen and I'm a die hard fan of Sernet. Whenever I can get my hands on a ticket, I WILL go and see Sernet play.
The alarm goes at half past seven, but honestly, I’ve been awake for twenty minutes already. Matchday. That word just hits different. Doesn’t matter how many years go by - when it’s a home game, the stomach still does a little flip when I see the scarf hanging on the back of the door.

Coffee, quick breakfast, and I’m out. The air feels sharper, fresher - or maybe that’s just the adrenaline. Down the hill to the tram stop, where one seems to be waiting just for me. A few minutes later I hop off at Lofnolmesen Central. Even from a distance you can spot the others: blue and orange shirts, bobble and beanie hats, a few carrying flags rolled under their arms. Strangers, technically, but we all nod at each other. We know why we’re here.

The 09:14 Sernetesen & Western to Sernetesen Arsenal is our unofficial supporters’ service. Same carriages, same faces most matchdays. At least when there's a home match. There’s the older guy with the thermos who still talks about that legendary 7-1 win over Armatonisdaristan like it was yesterday, the two uni lads who never stop singing, and the mum with her young daughter who knows every word of the chant.

When the doors close, someone starts the chant - half joking at first, then the whole carriage joins in. The rhythm of the wheels on the tracks keeps time like a drumbeat. For a few minutes, it feels like the train itself is singing for Sernet. The train ploughs forwards towards Sernetesen. At every stop, every town and outer suburb we pass, more supporters pile on, until the train is packed like a can of sardines. I'm lucky to have a seat. We leave Sultriost, pass Soshedrisen and soon we enter Sernetesen governorate.

I stare out the window as the Sernetesen suburbs slide by - Netrosen, Stendrisalles, Saprosnosem, Dasmodnosen, Plassingen and so on, all flashing past like old memories. This is the quiet bit before the chaos. You run through the possibilities in your head: if we win tonight, that’s momentum; if we lose - no point thinking about it. But mostly, you just hope.

We get closer and closer to Sernetesen. We pull into our final calling point before the city, Slalosen Central. Soon, the skyline appears, and I press my face to the window to admire the view.

Stepping off the train at Sernetesen Arsenal, you feel it immediately: the noise, the colour, the smell of street food and smoke from the flares. Drums echo off the walls, vendors shout for attention, and everyone’s walking in the same direction. You can’t not smile. People from all over the country come to this station to visit Sernetesen for whatever reason. Time for the final leg of the journey. SMR to Seven Bridges. Tightly packed as it gets, even by Sernetesen standards. After a while, we arrive at Seven Bridges. As soon as I alight, I am met with a current of supporters - from both countries - except the sernetians were much louder.

There’s this moment, right outside the station, where you join the flow of supporters heading up the boulevard towards the stadium. It’s like a tide. The songs get louder, the pace quickens. Someone hands me a sticker, someone else passes me some sweets. Strangers for ninety minutes, family for life. Then the stadium enters view, the floodlights on even though the sun is still up. That sight never gets old.

When I reach the ground, I always stop for a second before going in. I look up at those stands, the banners waving, the hum of the crowd starting to build. And I think: this is home. No matter what club you support, we are all united today.

Inside, it’ll be noise and nerves and everything in between. But right now, on the walk from the station, surrounded by thousands who love this country as much as I do, everything feels right.

So yeah - that’s my matchday. Just me, a train ticket, a scarf, and a belief that tonight might be the night.

Because when you’re Sernetian, the journey Seven Bridges (or wherever else) is never just travel. It’s almost a pilgrimage. It's for your country.

GUIDE TO YANGCHENIAN FANS - how to get to Seven Bridges stadium

Hello Yangchenians! We welcome you as our guests in our splendid country. You may find that our extensive rail network may be challenging to navigate, or that you can't seem to find where Seven Bridges stadium is. This guide is designed to help you!

When you arrive at Sernetesen Storimidros International (we're assuming that's where you land), follow signage until you end up at the SMR station for whichever terminal you land at - for you lot its its likely to be Terminal 4. Hop on the first southbound SMR train. From here you have two options: either take this all the way down to Sernetesen if you famcy giving it a visit, or exit the train at Great Brick of Sernet. You lucky tourists get to see The Great Brick of Sernet. This gargantuan monument, located in the town of Storimidros, which the airport is named after, is one of Sernet's most famous landmark. From there, there is a 100m covered footbridge which should lead you to Storimidros Junction station, on the nearby mainline. From here, catch a Sernetesen & Northern train to Seven Bridges. Exit the station and walk down the main road. You should then arrive at the stadium. There will be staff at all mentioned stations and along the road to the stadium to help you with anything. Sernet has an abundance of public toilets should you need the loo. The SMR train doesn't have toilets, but Sernetesen & Northern does. Upon arrival at Seven Bridges, you should find all the amenities you need; restaurants, cafes, shops, you name it. Free wifi is available at the airport, on the trains and at the stadium.
We hope this guide will allow you to navigate to your destination with ease. Enjoy your visit to Sernet!

Sernet is a large nation famous for its extensive rail network and our skyscrapers and tower blocks. Capital city: Sernetesen. Sernet is a space-capable state and maintains a network of terriories, but we're not your traditional earth-based empire (we are very benevolent). The nation is rich in history and culture and is extremely patriotic.
Mostly modern tech, except in some fields where we'd be PMT

Snestar debuts with a comfortable 2-0 win over New Montreal States, then immediately suffers a heavy defeat against Audioslavia, the World Cup Champions

The Viola begins its campaign with a win and a loss: an all-female victory against New Montreal States and a respectable defeat against the title defenders of the competition. The Snestaryan Football Federation seems to be satisfied with the current state of the national team, partly thanks to the inclusion of Elisa Baldriga and Arminia Cremisi in a previously all-male national team.

Snestar 2-0 New Montreal States: Match Summary

Snestar’s World Cup Qualifiers debut started with a glorious opening ceremony to both initiate the national team into the competition and welcome the guests to the Victoria Stadium in Calpyona. The immense number of Snestaryan fans helped the Viola immediately gain confidence, allowing them to dictate play for the majority of the match. Despite the nepotism allegations, Arminia Cremisi exceeded the expectations greatly, coming incredibly close to the goal in the 11th minute after managing to sneak past New Montreal States’ Dan Daniels and Fabrice Thibault, unfortunately missing the net by just a few centimeters. The real breakthrough came in the 26th minute, when a goal kick by Federico Calvaresi found Martinelli, who ended up facing a 2v2 together with Mattia Castelletti. Failing to find a gap, Martinelli waited until Elisa Baldriga came to support the attack, sweeping the ball through the field and allowing the girl to volley the ball in the corner of the net, not allowing Brian Lads a chance to make a save. However, Snestar also came close to conceding the equalizer at the end of the first half due to a textbook free kick by Est-Tononcle, but the ball was promptly saved by Calvaresi and then brought out of danger by Valentino Garnati.

In the second half, the pace of the match slowed down greatly, as neither team was able to make any progress. Despite de Martino, Balestri, and Acanfora’s substitutions, the Viola failed to make any progress, leaving fans at the Victoria Stadium quite disappointed. However, in the 80th minute, a short corner kick by Martin de Roux eventually found its way in front of Arminia Cremisi, who made an attempt to score. Brian Lads made a spectacular save, which shocked everyone in the stadium, but the rebound eventually hit Elisa Baldriga (who was lurking inside the penalty box) right in the face, inadvertently sending the ball in the goal to make the score 2-0. The Snestaryan medical team immediately came onto the pitch to check on the woman’s conditions, but she showed no signs of injuries, just uncontrollable laughter. When the final whistle blew, the Victoria Stadium exploded in a bunch of roars from the locals: maybe Snestar already had the strength to qualify for the World Cup.

Audioslavia 5-2 Snestar: Match Summary

Unfortunately, when Snestar had to face the reigning world champions, it was clear that qualification was going to be incredibly hard to achieve. The skill difference between the two teams was apparent from the start: Audioslavia’s highly defensive strategy didn’t allow Snestar any chance to open up the match, while the opponents’ attack quickly gained the upper hand over the defense. Calvaresi, Garnati, and Gallerani fought with all the forces they had, but Lúnquerque didn’t even give them the chance to react to his shots; he just scored whenever he had the chance, fooling Federico Calvaresi in the 14th minute, bringing Snestar down one goal. The Snestaryan keeper managed to stop the Audioslavian forward twice soon after, but left-back Gryff Gould forced his way through Riccardo Cavaliere and tapped the ball right in the center of the net. The Viola was briefly allowed to bounce back, narrowing the gap in the scoreline after Tero Sjölund converted a penalty in the 30th minute after being tackled unceremoniously by Koren Loretzen. Still, in the closing minutes of the first half, Denzel Keegan was unfairly awarded a free kick (when in reality he had committed a foul on Davide Scognamiglio) and quickly converted it into a magnificent goal, fueling the Snestaryans’ frustration.

The second half was no better: Camilla Arentas knew she needed a more offensive approach, so she subbed Ragusa out for Martinelli, transitioning into a more aggressive 4-2-4. Unfortunately, this strategy only made the Audioslavians more defensive than ever. Yellow cards started flying on both sides: Malcolm, Keegan, Sjölund, and Cavaliere all got booked. Still, the Viola had yet to give up: Simone Ramella gave the Snestaryans hope in the 61st minute, when the defender momentarily forgot his duty and chose to score a bicycle kick that would go down as one of the goofiest goals of his career. Still, Audioslavia kept dominating, dictating the pace of the match with questionable methods: Gould had to be sent off with a direct card as a hard tackle on Scognamiglio caused the Snestaryan player to be replaced with Arminia Cremisi, who struggled to meet the demands of the match and was not able to unleash her potential. Shortly after that, Hooper and Lúnquerque finally sealed the deal, bringing the scoreline to a surprise 5-2; Camilla Arentas was just about to snap. However, knowing she had to avoid another Baptism of Fire Semifinals incident, she forced her players to keep their composure for another quarter, hoping they’d unleash their rage in the showers. Luckily things went her way, as the final whistle ended the game without any riots.

After the final whistle of Audioslavia - Snestar, we interviewed head coach Camilla Arentas to hear her thoughts on the match. Despite having just suffered the heaviest defeat so far, the coach was quite content with how the Viola was developing, and how this was affecting the results of the team.

“I’m happy with what I’m seeing so far. We’re playing to win, we’re fighting ‘til the end, and most importantly, we’re not ending matches with five red cards in total… Looking back, I had made a fool of myself. I deserved to have tomatoes thrown at my face… Anyway, I knew my girl Arminia would do well. The press had zero faith in her just because she shared a last name with one of the most divisive presidents in the republic’s history. Looking back, Mrs. Cremisi wasn’t even that bad of a leader: I feel like journalists are ignoring the fact that she is a fantastic diplomat and are only focusing on the fact that she took up a drinking habit during her term… I’m going off topic. Anyway, what I wanted to say is: losing 5-2 isn’t necessarily something to be ashamed of. Results like these can happen to anyone. In this case, Audioslavia was simply better than us in every aspect, but we still played methodically to the best of our abilities.”
