Kits & Logo

Home, Away and Third
Image Image Image
The home kit is a traditional striped ochre, blue and white scheme.
The away kit is a selection of colours taken from the flags of two of the Ochres islands.
The third kit is a welcome return of the 'Anaiaway' theme, reminding us that even when away from home, we are still at home in our region.

The Ochre Islands play a slow, possession-based style of football which aims to prevent the opposition from scoring by simply not letting them have the ball.

Important Information for Hosts & RP'ers
In the event my opponent posts an RP first, they may:
Select my scorers — Yes
Give out yellow cards to my players — Yes
Give out red cards to my players — Yes
RP injuries to my players — Yes
Godmod injuries — No
Godmod scoring events — Yes
Godmod other events — Yes
Do whatever you want basically, just don't kill/maim/etc. An RP that makes me laugh would make me eternally grateful.

Stadiums:
Parc De Nasional (55000): Fully repaired and plays host to Tasse Du Auprussia Finals after the conclusion of Lige 1's 5th season. Surrounding the stadium is the bustling Striga district which has been in a boom period for a while. Many people watch the festivities from their roofs. It is also beginning to be called the "Lantern District" due to the abnormal amount of lanters displayed throughout the district.

Parc d'Auprus (45000): Home to a rejuvenated Auprussia NF located in the Cenviesse district of Auprus by a marine research facility it was one of the few stadiums not affected by the financial money pit that was Lige PRO. Fans come by boat to observe the marine life nearby the research facility or they come by train which drops them off right in front of the stadium. The community has found a bit of life after Auprussia NF bounced back and has taken a liking to Auprussia NF's basketball club Auprussia NB.

Coeur de Sassen Alexia (60000): Another stadium owned by a Lige 1 club, the newly promoted but very old powerhouse Alexia. Founded in the Alexia-Roswulfe district it has a "unique" contingent of fans who travel by horse like the old Sassen merchants used to do. The newer Sassen merchants just prefer to move their goods by trucks or trains and sell them in the biggest market in Auprussia.

Hills of Light and Dark (48000): In the shadows of the huge forests of Adrana, this venue used by Prus Sassenlan has a great amount of history. Old castle ruins and outposts riddle the outer edges of the forest while the stadium itself lies in the center. The roads are narrow and are walkways, not the highways and auto roads littered across Auprussia. Near the field is a old cathedral built by the Sassen kings long ago.

This Auprussian selection has shown how far Auprussian football has come. Alaide Mitregasque is a strong veteran presence with great finishing ability but is overshadowed by the younger and incredibly talented Huberdeau Audac. Audac is a menace on the attack and will look for any small window of opportunity to attack. Rogeur Pagault is incredibly young but a great finisher on the wing, Samuel Lithobert is a methodical and patient winger who can come up clutch when he needs to. Ingalcer "Payday" Pardau and Rodulf Siebault make up the center of the midfield, Siebault has improved his playmaking on an unprecedented level while Pardau is reliable and gritty. Bettellef Aelle has great overlaps and a killer cross with Auprussia NF and looks to do the same here while Prospierre Aregnac-Tignon and Arin Seaxany are young but talented and physical defenders. Martin Di Portefenisa is a surprise addition but with the emphasis on introducing young talent to the national team it wasn't the weirdest choice Vicard could have made. Martin particularly got the nod due to his impressive performances with Birivistice.

Eleo Vicard is the one behind this youth movement as it were. He wanted young dynamic players with a mix of veterans to mentor them. Vicard has also pulled a bit back on the super aggressive approach that Pierre Camanin introduced but this team will still attack mercilessly from all positions. If you see a defender just make a unexpected run in the attack that is intentional. Eleo has also recruited three more assistants after the departure of Pierre Camanin due to greater funding provided by the AFF. With the dreary results of last campaign forgotten, it will be interesting to see how the changes Vicard made affect this team.

Godmod scoring events: Y

Stadium Menu:
The Pit Stop located in Mordecai, Eaucīn Region , Capacity Avg. 22,555 people out of Occupancy 22,689 , Key Feature/s: The first venue to hold a cup final (now termed Harmony Codex) ever; terraced standing areas in all four directions but there are mostly places where you can sit. By the way, be sure to wear glasses with dark film lens so you can counteract the strobing effect given by the sun and moon: a day goes ninety-two times quicker in Geektopia than what experts have measured in other nations as a uniform "normal length" of time., Opponent: Ralsalin
WIC Arena located in Turinigre, Meielcōhl Region , Capacity Avg. 11,098 people out of Occupancy 15,228 , Key Feature/s: D.E.C. Līrmeaui ownership in the club looked at hemorrhaging matchday ticket revenues and—as their number one priority today and in the seventh season of R.I.N.K. is and was to sell unused assets—ripped two thousand seventy-three seats out of the arena. Not just seat covers or handles, ENTIRE seats. You are encouraged to bring a picnic table or set up your own chair and, going through the direct front entrance to the inside, may see through glass walls one or two figures of note enjoying the hybrid massage chair-sauna room. , Opponent: Safiloa
aREAMa located in Kummaboule, Keilir Region , Capacity Avg. 16,110 people out of Occupancy 20,001 , Key Feature/s: Used as a base in the eighty-seventh World Cup qualifiers back when it was still called the Leonards-Macy Emporium. In seven years an extension ground will give this land that the BrandName Bīszngiteieauwyasiw group owns a familiar T-shape so that rugby and speed-eating competitions can be held in a different building; better still, the aREAMa is in the process of moving back it's stands in all directions to make space for a running track. , Opponent: Hafamarimët
Wind Incorporium located in Mukladrue, Yasei-Gemōhn Region , Capacity Avg. N/A people out of Occupancy 17,500 , Key Feature/s: O.K. Phantom Phalanges dbpom Mukladrue's Wind Incorporium was originally known as IHoF (International House of Football). Allegedly an outdoor venue in the past, it lends credence to it's name when you stand a few hundred or a thousand feet away from it and are witness to the ginormous bladeless wind energy systems on the edge of it's newly built roof, the former dream and present initiative of a first city with minimal to no noise pollution being followed by friend of Mukladrue Duke Erdinç Balım WkeiMdar chairman Eshop in that respect. , Opponent: Jaoaa
Forestierri Park located in Mordecai, Eaucīn Region , Capacity Avg. 33,894 people out of Occupancy 33,900 , Key Feature/s: Despite being located in the (for-now) capitol city, this venue is surrounded by various hundred-foot altitude drop artificial river heads which were aggressively bought and built into by the Van der Graaf, Generating Foodstuffs! company as part of a hydropower energy-collecting project; as of this, the south third of the city where it is located is comprised of thousands of maze-like dirt roads which only connect to one arterial, and if you're going north to south to GET to that arterial, there is a border process next to government sites and royal hierarchy member-owned land plots which takes an hour and a half at least (god, these officers are thorough!). Note to interested readers: you had better plan a carpool route in advance with a Geektopian citizen or sign up for BRAVO Mordecai's bussing membership plan for an easy time of it. , Opponent: Cardenao
Strategem Steeple located in Letter, Ldav Region , Capacity Avg. 25,110 out of Occupancy 26,470 , Key Feature/s: Letter, As an über-diversified and tech-sophisticated city, has had it's share of admirers and with those share of admirers public and leisure organizations which have signed off on contracts which give said agreeing parties the okay as far as holding events inside of the StratSteep is concerned. Although missing the deadline to apply for Rugby World Cup hosting way back when that singularity caused a chain effect ending in Geektopia's rugby association not entering, this former third-division venue has iteratively and almost always been used as a base for the national team in regional competitions (i.e., Kwandoa Qualification to the World Cup Qualification, Independent Association Championships). The food culture here is where most of Letter's food culture lies; on the second side street where the side streets are next to the back stand you can acquire goods—I mean, buy luncheon pastries and sweets—from Ngebqwf Market, yes, the same market that somehow manages to make work soda fizz and spring-water derived ice mixed with syrup and chocolate stick straws. Finally, on the stadium's north side and in the scheme of things placed on the right of a road which connects with a highway end-to-end, there is a stationary culture store dedicated to the owner's experiences and pleasances they tended to in Farfadillis, where at a tiny corner you can be, with t-shirts and other memorabilia, reminded the existence of the terrors that the mountains give to the western and eastern reaches of the tributary spanning half the country known as Gdabīr. , Opponent: Paradystopia
Mental Gymnasium located in Moscav, Ldav Region , Capacity Avg. 40,030 out of Occupancy 43,521 , Key Feature/s: Is this web-brochure boring you with the details? That's O.K., as other than the altitude-sickness elimination (ASE) initiative agreed to by king Nījchōh I and Moscav duchess Dangdangjiaiepei Masa (which is really just a starting point for Nījchōh I's "fill and level" plan), the structure of the city is unremarkable like so with the venue here. Sure, you can see some remarkable and never before seen architecture techniques at play with the walls jutting out and only connecting to other walls via the bottom edges while all four sides (and the building in general) are stabilized by the roof. The downside itself is in the multiple stands which only elevate up to fifty feet as per the clause promised by Dangdangjiaiepei to Nījchōh I; viewed from any point other than the front stands, you're in for a horrible spectator experience if the action isn't coming to you directly. The second and third stands on all four directions are blocked by the front and second stands respectively, and it has to be said, even though the designer tried mounting display panels and a television in the center for said stands it's still not enough. If "the jewel in Ldav" has taken to your liking, just as well! There is a sports bar, bistro, and event bulletin (I can't remember if it's in either of the two, the one, or the other) which can help you plan for and keep up with the goings-on in Moscav, either before or after you have your food and drink. , Opponent: Oriental of Rio de la Plata
Arena Lito located in Lito, Enyal Region , Capacity Avg. N/A out of Occupancy 14,318 , Key Feature/s: The plot of the Arena Lito has been burnt down several times in it's past life as a basilica dedicated to the religion of Math by eunuch and Hierophant to Queen Jīniszgdahsz, Ngelszjdav L'mihszsz: first by Jayren Easaa (who governed over regions Szīsei-Lelei and Ldavlī at once) because he suspected it's distance from Mordecai and proximity to Murosinoe might aid the efforts of the fledgling decentralized royal government and then another time in the reign of Davrequrh Īnngeifdaw, when a storied half-monkey half-man thing lured L'mihszsz's nephew once removed Enōhlro Byarnkeijyonfāw with a kasaya which was, by his words, threaded in the ancient village and former Neauir capital known as Neauimong; assuring the eunuch owner that he would be most cherished as a scholar of Math in the land, the monkey half-breed let these claims of what he would and wouldn't do rest on if Enōhlro could settle the cloth such to where it didn't move for five seconds, resulting in the gears and stipulations of this dangerous settlement leading the temple to be burnt to the ground by the candles which were in it. Silly stories these are, people in all reaches of the country know the Tale of the Practitioner and the Gibbon and moreso in Lito know how to make food, art, and culture which revolves around the elements of royal life and religion. If you really want to cozy up to the city either before or after attempting to sign Ogrodowski's autograph, there is a car rental agency slightly leeward to the main gate and the employees there binge out on food they pick up and don't finish every day of the week. If you don't want to scrap or chat before the working people throw the rest of their meal into the bin, I don't really know where else in the area you can be sufficed: it is as the Grand Historian Angolar said, "perched perilously like a heavy ornament on a tree," that is to say, the eight blocks including the land under the stadium is classified as "earthquake belt" land, meaning generally you are having bad ideas to think of storing food in said area. , Opponent: Aphrilia

Well, it's official - World Cup 100 is upon us. The winner of this one will go down as the first to win a World Cup in the triple digits, a place in history that surely would look nice on any resume. And the Kamijiroans would love nothing more than to be the ones to claim that record and take home their first major silverware since the Baptism of Fire all those years ago. This team will have firepower all over the pitch, with big names from foreign clubs coming home to rally the troops and home-based stars ready to roll.

The kits for this year are different - the old sponsors, WorldRestart, lost their branding rights and as such the kit does not feature a brand at all. This gives it a much cleaner look and feel than the old kits.

Raiji Kagawa has tinkered with the lineup a little bit. A few too many times in the last runs, the midfield pivot was getting exposed due to a lack of pace. So that midfield pivot has been replaced with dropping them into the defense as a third centerback. The wingbacks will still be making their overlapping and underlapping runs. Haruka Kagawa has been dropped into an attacking midfield role opposite young phenom Keigo Nakaji, now of Tihon United in Chromatika. Nicácio Xavier has re-gained his starting role and Saiichi Demizu, Kento Kanazono and Hiroshi Abiko were dropped to the bench due to personnel issues with the new formation.

The real-life stadium pictured is Freshwater Stadium in Vanuatu.

The stadium is on Jirō Island, which is not the main island of Kamijiro. A map has been provided below for reference. The stadium is around a thirty minute bus shuttle from the airport at Spolia. Direct flights in are available from Esportivan nations, but those outside of the region will likely have to fly into Miraisaki, then either take a charter plane, ferry, or commercial flight to Spolia. The estimated flight time is twenty minutes. Don't expect peanuts.

.Naugle-Ancher Gardey Aeráy - National Airannian Football Organization.

Background — The Airannian nation has faced many ups, and far more downs in recent history. A lot of this history is still topic of fierce debate, as similar to this very background section, it is still entirely unclear how much of this history should be considered in-universe and canon, and how much of it is fourth wall breaking chaos that has been retconned and reimagined. The knowledge of these tough times can be traced back to some interesting discoveries in the attic of the main office of the National Airannian Football Organization (NAGA) in Mertessá. Although there is nobody at the NAGA who knows why it is even there, it's been established beyond any reasonable doubt that the 3rd place Baptism of Fire trophy, now located in the NAGA showcase, is 100% legitimate and made of only the finest electrum. Records have even been dug up from the archives about legendary World Cup Qualifier runs, during which the Airannian underdog team apparently managed to just barely miss out on a World Cup playoff spot not once, but twice! These, too, were confirmed legitimate by international football authorities; even though none of the players they named could be located anywhere on file. As a result of these discoveries, the NAGA took two crucial and immediate actions: 1.) Signing up for the next edition of the newly rediscovered World Cup; as proving grounds for the Airannian national team have run quite dry, with neighbouring nations just not being up to the task. 2.) Creating a team with scientists, forensic experts, my buddy Arriq, and historians to determine exactly what is going on with these archives, who those players were, and exactly why their timelines intersected. Things have been kept relatively under wraps so far, but some worry that a truth might be uncovered that just won't stay hidden from the public...

Background (summarized) — The Aeragny that was, is no more. The nation's been retconned quite enough to the point that continuing from its previous iterations is an unreasonable ask for the timeline; however, a lot of the country's core ideas, values, and truths from previous WCQs and other tournaments still hold true. Having said that, the new Airannia's still essentially the same nation from before - but there are definitely a few key differences. It's up to the NAGA to figure out what is canon and what isn't - and why.

Nation: Airannia (English) / Aerágny (Aeránanue)
Other local names: Aërange (French) / Ayragni (Hmala) / Xairahni (Siwoni)
Trigramme: AER
Demonym: Aerá / Airannian
Colours: Dark blue primary, yellow secondary
Nickname: The Drills
Captain: Teren Hobeck
Formation: 4-4-2
Style mod: +2.5

Roster of The Drills
Staff:
Manager: Constance Enquás, 51, from Sanna Agatha
Assistant Manager: Pasat Jaudy, 45, from Vorácy

Goalkeepers:
#12 - GK - Taman Cristigny, 28, from Axatan*
#22 - GK - Sháze Linnitvors, 34, from Ztázhn

Cristigny has been the goalkeeper of choice for some years now, having been part of the team ever since the legendary Lycean tournament run 5 years ago; where the Drills came second against all odds. Linnitvors will be the designated substitute, but has a fruitful career in his past already - he's hardly expecting much more than to warm a seat on the bench.

Defense:
#2 - LB - Mon Gantre, 26, from Vorácy*
#3 - CB - Ilténe Shibhann, 27, from Torjlogne*
#4 - CB - Jacques Mounate, 30, from Jennesbourgh*
#5 - RB - Donato Stáspertéls, 23, from Cipressbhy*

#13 - LB - Armande Hotsimya, 28, from Mertessá
#14 - CB - Kit Évangelique, 30, from Vorácy
#15 - RB - Evil Theuter, 25, from Relacion
#23 - RB - Tatzan Eneksi éys, 30, from Budwarkog

Overall, no huge surprises here - although Hotsimya being called up is surprising to all: the wingback is only just returning from a knee injury which had taken him out of rotation 8 months ago. Gantre, Shibhann and Mounate have already worked extensively with Enquás before when he was manager for QÉS. Although the three men have gone their separate ways now, the chemistry in the back ranks is undeniable, and might even rub off on the entire team. Before anyone asks, no the team doesn't have a villain on the squad - Evil is a perfectly normal Airannian name, which derives from été; to help)

Midfield:

#6 - LM - Joux Khettesburá, 24, from Vorácy*
#7 - CM - Quent Pirakel, 26, from Sanna Agatha*
#8 - CM - Stéphen Helmantha, 31, from Oychoque*
#9 - RM - Alphe Toussaint, 30, from Attacougnac*

#16 - LM - Miyáv Taizpuj, 25, from Ztázhn
#17 - CAM - Kaeman Forompléls, 25, from Quitémish
#18 - CDM - Lico Luth, 22, from Seráphynsang
#19 - RM - Alexander Régervothys, 29, from Vorácy

Quite a few new faces on the midfield - Enquás has called upon Khettesburá, who appears to be set to make his first appearance in the national squad in the first game of this qualifying series. Pirakel and Helmantha form the center of the midfield; the two play close together in an attempt to shrink the field and quickly pass the ball to the wings. Toussaint is also surprising, as it seemed unlikely he'd be favoured over Régervothys after the latter's stellar performances in his sub games. Perhaps that's exactly what the muscular workhorse is going to be used for: an injection of energy into the team later in the game.

Offense:

#10 - LS - Êkarloz Tuptyól, 31, from Ztázhn-Vertuw*
#11 - RS - Pilleç Tournay, 32, from Consigny*

#20 - LS - Noitaryng Milantriç, 21, from Vorácy
#25 - LS - Usi Sarván-Dendh, 26, from Vorácy
#21 - RS - Marten Hiqa, 25, from Selfédh

And lastly, the Airannian choices on the offensive are about as surprising as the ball being round. Tuptyól is a quick, short man who is capable of pulling incredible sprints and somehow manages to gain control of just about any long ball thrown his way - alternatively, you have the raw power from Tournay; nearly 2 meters tall, and with more power in his left leg than some second division teams combined. The elite striker team is then supported by three relatively young possible subs: in particular Milantriç, who would be one of the youngest national team representing players in history, if he gets any minutes in the first three matchdays, at least...

Other Staff:
Analyst: Charles Minnengy, 40, from Vorácy
Analyst: Topp Hétman, 39, from Vorácy
Team Doctor: Sherry Lávnyth, 30, from Roinhoyton

Somewhere, in the remote corners of the multiverse, there is a small cave. Its name is only spoken of in hushed whispers, and many question if it truly exists or if it is merely an old knight's tale meant to scare young squires into behaving. The cave is guarded by beasts of legendary ferocity, ravenous hunger, and the fluffiest blood-soaked fur. The bones of their victims are strewn about the entrance, a warning to those who would dare approach it. Out of the shrouding mists, a new terror emerges...

Image

Nicknamed "the Rabbits" by their opponents, exactly how this team of diminutive creatures came to be participating in the World Cup remains an unsolved mystery. One knight who ventured near the Cave of Caerbannog before bravely running away reported seeing a number of rabbits playing what appeared to be a game he called "pawball" with the disembodied skull of an earlier victim. This game allegedly resembled the sport known throughout the wider multiverse as "football".

It has been suggested that a team under the name of Caerbannog previously participated in qualifying for World Cup 97, although these rumors remain unsubstantiated by credible scholars and should be treated with a degree of skepticism. That team, at least according to reports, did not perform very well, finishing last in their group. This should not be taken as a reliable indicator of future performance (assuming that team did exist), as more than a few foolish adventurers have previously ventured near the Cave of Caerbannog, dismissed its guardians as harmless, and paid the ultimate price for their hubris.

Image

Snugglebun the Crimson Shadow - Goalkeeper ♂
A dark-furred rabbit whose eyes glow a faint red in low light, Snugglebun moves about with an eerie silence and darts between the posts with almost supernatural speed to deny his opponents.

Hopscotch the Harbinger - Defender ♀
Tawny-furred and sleek, Hopscotch anticipates her opponents' every move with and is known for sweeping players off their feat before they realize what hit them.

Flopsy the Defiler - Defender ♀
A grey rabbit with shaggy fur and long droopy ears, one of which is torn, Flopsy plays particularly rough and will sometimes take a second swipe at her opponents once they're down.

Thumper the Tormentor - Defender ♂
A muscular, white-furred enforcer whose tackles hit like a hammer, Thumper is known for taking shots at players off the ball when the referee isn't looking, and sometimes when they are.

Nibblesworth the Red-Toothed - Midfielder ♂
Ginger-furred with a savage toothy smile, Nibblesworth frequently leaves tooth marks on the ball after heading it, to say nothing of his opponents.

Buttercup the Brutal - Midfielder ♀
Golden-furred and deceptively delicate-looking, Buttercup dominates midair midfield duels and leaves her foes bruised and battered.

Pudding the Perforator - Midfielder ♀
A plump, chocolate-furred hare, Pudding hammers the ball almost as hard as her opponents and prefers to go after their torsos rather than their heads or limbs.

Daisy the Dreaded - Midfielder ♀
With fur of a soft grey shade, Daisy is arguably the cutest of the team but her adorable appearance hides her ferocity and incisive passing.

Velveteen the Eternal - Forward ♂
The oldest member of the team, Velveteen's ragged brown and white fur betrays his age but he more than makes up for it with strikes that demonstrate his experience.

Marshmallow the Malevolent - Forward ♂
Plump, white, and unsettlingly cheerful, Marshmallow takes sadistic pleasure in trying to bank shots into the goal off the faces of defenders.

Snowball the Savage - Forward ♀
Petite and with blindingly white fur, Snowball is a blur on the pitch, blasting through defenders towards her target.

Image

Wiggles the Wrathful - Goalkeeper ♂
A larger than average bunny with snow-white fur and black-tipped ears, Wiggles' squeaks of fury are deeply intimidating and unsettle his opponents to their core.

Babbitty the Blasphemer - Goalkeeper ♀
A jet-black bunny with a single white paw that she favors, Babbitty defies all laws of physics and morality, launching the ball (and occasionally her opponents) upfield with unnatural precision.

Cinnabun the Destroyer - Defender ♂
With fur of golden caramel and deceptively sweet-looking, Cinnabun's tackles can cripple his opponents or leave them wishing that they were.

Muggsy the Unspeakable - Defender ♀
A dainty little thing, Muggsy is much quieter than her teammates, but no less ferocious.

Lulu the Lifetaker - Defender ♀
Silver-furred and slender, Lulu is a stealthy and speedy defender who likes to attack her enemies from behind.

Fluffy the Final Judgement - Defender ♂
An immense hare with white fur and eyes like embers, Fluffy is pure muscle and demolishes attackers before they can even think to strike.

Snugglepaw the Vicious - Midfielder ♀
Small and coated in cream-colored fur, she hits as quick and hard as lightning and often follows up with a bite like thunder.

Bunbane the Unholy - Midfielder ♂
Bunebane's fur is as black as his soul would be if he had one and is a menace in the midfield.

Daffodil the Doom-Bringer - Midfielder ♀
A bunny of pure white fur and golden eyes, Daffodil thrives on chaos and enjoys spreading it wherever she goes.

Sniffles the Silent Death - Midfielder ♂
A pale rabbit who blends almost seamlessly into the mists, Sniffles is adept at swiping the ball from underneath the feet of his foes.

Bunedict the Devourer - Midfielder ♂
A large, heavily-scarred bunny with dark brown fur, Bunedict is an anchor in the midfield who distributes the ball to his teammates and pain to opponents.

Mopsy the Merciless - Forward ♀
Flopsy's younger sister, Mopsy is a particularly physical forward who headbutts the ball and frequently opposing defenders and goalkeepers as well.

Bella the Nightbringer - Forward ♀
A bunny of midnight-black fur and distinctive silvery whiskers, Bella is strangely elegant in her style of play but sometimes confuses the ball with her opponents' extremities.

Cuddles the Bloodsoaked - Forward ♂
Brown-furred, scruffy, and boasting a reputation for bloody collisions, Cuddles is often cranky and takes out his frustrations on the pitch.

Lady Twinkle the Taker of Souls - Forward ♀
A white rabbit with glittering pink eyes, Lady Twinkle dances by defenders and celebrates her goals by nibbling on the bones of her previous enemies.

Image

Bunnicula the Blood Lord - Manager ♂
The apparent leader of the "Rabbits", the white-furred Bunnicula has distinctive elongated teeth filed to sharp points. Allegedly a vegetarian.

Foo Foo the Unforgiving - Assistant Manager ♂
Bunnicula's lieutenant, Foo Foo's favorite pastime seems to be harassing opposing staff members on the touchline.

Tim the Enchanter - Guide to Adventurers ♂
A pyromancer with a flair for the dramatic, Tim the Enchanter isn't a member of the Caerbannog team or its staff, but is often found near the Cave and may prove instrumental to your own team's quest.

Image

The precise location of Caerbannog is difficult to pin down. Some suggest that it is hidden amongst the isles of Arrosia, others say it lies in a forgotten corner of Rushmore, and a handful claim to have found the cave in Esportiva. Regardless, for those poor souls unfortunate to have to journey there, they will somehow find their way to Caerbannog, but what cannot be certain is that they will return.

Upon arrival in the vicinity of Caerbannog, your team of adventurers will be guided to the Mouth of Caerbannog by Tim the Enchanter. Once there, you will face a collection of unassuming creatures whose cuddly appearances have deceived more victims than any King would dare count. Watch your step, for the field you will fight on is covered in the teeth-marked bones of the casualties of Caerbannog. Your band of misfit travelers will fight alone, for none who are not destined to face the perils within Caerbannog may travel there.

Image

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following...

Choose my goalscorers: You might find them tricky to identify given the speed at which they move, but if you can manage it, you are free to name the creature responsible for the skull ball ending up in the back of the net.

Godmod scoring events: One might suggest that any "scoring events" involving these creatures requires divine intervention. As such, you are encouraged to engage in this behavior.

RP injuries to my players: You can try, but they're shockingly difficult to harm without blessed armaments from distant lands.

Godmod injuries to my players: Some say that only those on a divinely-ordained quest from God can bring about the end of these players, so you can "godmod" injuries if you desire. After all, even if you manage to snuff out a few of them, they will be quickly replaced. These things breed like rabbits.

Hand out yellow cards to my players: You may caution them against violence, but such measures will likely prove fruitless.

Hand out red cards to my players: It's not uncommon for these creatures to be shown red cards since they have a taste for flesh, but it might cost the poor soul who gave it to them their hand... or worse.

Godmod other events: It would be cruel to deny you the protection of your god(s). Good luck.

Style Modifier: +5

Some fools proclaim that five is "right out", but for a team as vicious and aggressive as this one, I can think of no more appropriate number.

Siovanija & Teusland National Football Team

Facts

Nation Name: United Republics of Siovanija and Teusland
Short Names: Siovanija and Teusland, the United Republics
Demonyms: Siovanijan, Teus
FA: Siovanija and Teusland Football Association (STFA)
Colours: Blue and gold
Anthem: ‘High Mountain Skies’
Capital City: Borograd
Other Major Cities: St. Jakob, Stelburg, Vlaikograd, Chernovets, Felsenkirchen
Highest Domestic League: Superklasse
Nicknames: The Goldhorns
Style Modifier: +3

Manager - Dominik Weismann

Following the back-to-back home tournaments of ARC IV and World Cup 99, Siovanija & Teusland football continues to be in a good place. No, the fairy-tale run that many fans dreamed of never materialized - but a exit to the eventual world champions Audioslavia showed the Goldhorns are continuing to make progress on the international stage, and having achieved their highest-ever ranking in both regional and World Cup ranks, are aiming to continue that rise here at 100th edition of the World Cup, after a semifinal run at ARC V. They will do so under the leadership of Dominik Weismann, who remains at the helm with a new 3-year contract.

Weismann, in addition to his commitment to instilling a hard-working culture in the team, is strongly committed to the 4-3-3 formation. He likes to use full backs who push forward and join in the attack, with distribution short from the keeper and having the centre-backs play the ball out. The two central midfielders usually feature one playmaker and one in a deeper, more defensive role. Up front, the wingers are quick and encouraged to shoot the ball, while the #10 is also encouraged to get forward and shoot where possible in quite an attacking set-up.

25 man squad for World Cup Qualifiers

Goalkeepers

GK -- Sepp Kranz -- #1 -- 27y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 10 caps, 2 clean sheets
GK -- Per Holz -- #22 -- 37y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 19 caps, 2 clean sheets
GK -- Koloman Bodeker -- #23 -- 36y/o -- Raynor City United (VAL) -- 8 caps, 1 clean sheet

Having earned the #1 shirt at the ARC IV last year, there was not a chance Sepp Kranz would give it up after the legendary domestic season he had: leading Teussen to a league + regional double, and doing so with one of the greatest goalkeeping performances we’ve seen with 8 clean sheets in a row to end the season. He became the first keeper to ever win the Golden Ball in the modern era, and there’s no doubt he is going to be the man under the bar for many, many years to come. Per Holz and Koloman Bodeker are both very solid keepers as well, both looking good every time they suit up for the national team and could be great options if Kranz needs a rest or is hurt.

Fullbacks

LB -- Elias Schwefel -- #3 -- 32y/o -- Ibini FC (VAL) -- 25 caps
LB -- Leon Wimmer -- #13 -- 25y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 12 caps
RB -- Rolf Reichenbach -- #2 -- 29y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 28 caps
RB -- Dejan Mesko -- #12 -- 26y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- 13 caps

No real change here from the fullbacks that donned the national shirt at World Cup 99 and also ARC IV - Schwefel and Wimmer on the left, Reichenbach and Mesko on the right. Elias Schwefel has been excellent since his move to Ibini FC and is a key part of the Goldhorns’ buildup. Despite hitting the big three-oh, he’s still very quick going forward and his crosses are key to the way this team plays. Backing him up is the man who replaced him at FC Teussen Stelburg - Leon Wimmer, who is a very similar player to Schwefel. It’s only natural, with both men having Hochzoll DNA, and Wimmer comes into this tournament off a domestic title and regional triumph. On the right side, Rolf Reichenbach gets the #2 shirt, the attack-minded Teussen fullback is known especially for his blistering pace and was a key part of the Hui La victory for Teussen. Dejan Mesko continues his rise to stardom as well. The young Chernovets fullback plays a more balanced game and is often called into tighter, low-scoring contests.

Centre backs

CB -- Arnold Apel -- #4 -- 27y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 22 caps, 1 goal
CB -- Erwin Sanner -- #5 -- 27y/o -- Soldarian FC (VAL) -- 9 caps
CB -- Silvio Rodl -- #24 -- 31y/o -- TSV Marzig -- 22 caps, 1 goal
CB -- Sebastian Rosler -- #25 -- 26y/o -- Wirr Tsi (CMT) -- 2 caps

Paul Steinhausl leaves a bit of a gap here following his international retirement, but that is where fellow Felsenkirchen defender Arnold Apel continues to be a force for the national team. He’s a physical defender who is also strong on the ball, and will be expected to fill Steinhausl’s role as leader after his retirement. Erwin Sanner, who had an excellent debut season in Valanora as his Soldarian side finished 2nd, will be looking to claim his place in the starting XI even earlier than expected during this tournament, while reliable Silvio Rodl remains another option that Dominik Weismann can call on at this position. Sebastian Rosler gets the call up to be the 4th CB on the roster, with other choice Emil von Tessin expected to lead the U21 team in its regional campaign.

Midfielders

CM -- Hans Gruber -- #6 -- 27y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 11 caps, 3 goals
CM -- Mats Winter -- #8 -- 24y/o -- TSV Marzig -- 17 caps, 1 goal
CM -- Jesper Porsche -- #16 -- 35y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 35 caps, 8 goals
CM -- Damir Prekmurje -- #18 -- 29y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 23 caps
CM -- Santutxo Kramer -- #25 -- 22y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 2 caps
CAM -- Xôrgé Lé Méjî -- #10 -- 26y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 26 caps, 20 goals
CAM -- Silvestr Pavlicek -- #20 -- 24y/o -- Wirr Tsi (CMT) -- Uncapped

Here in the midfield is where the biggest changes to the squad will be found. The first big news: it looks like Dominik Weismann has chosen for a complete overhaul in the #6 and 8 roles: Hans Gruber and Mats Winter will be starting. It’s really no surprise Gruber has gotten here: his game has been consistently compared to Jesper Porsche, and ever since Thorsten Kramer became his manager he has elevated it to incredible heights. With great vision and passing ability, Gruber has turned in another career year with FC Teussen Stelburg this season. He finished runner-up to Sepp Kranz in the Golden Ball vote, and helped lead the club to a famous league title and regional championship - he has quite the resume at age 25, and it’s clear Dominik Weismann feels the time has come to trust him in the biggest matches of all. Next to him will be young Mats Winter from TSV Marzig. The defensive midfielder isn’t quite a bruiser like Damir Prekmurje, but tends to usually have the most difficult marking assignments in a game and come away dropping a masterclass performance. ‘Welcome to the Mats Winter penitentiary’ is a common refrain on TSV Marzig supporters’ social media, and he’s also known for his ability to drop into the backline and function almost as a third centre back in some cases. Winter has always seemed to deal with pressure very well, too, and it makes him an ideal candidate to get the start in this World Cup. Slotting into the #10 position in the 4-3-3 is a man who is well on his way to becoming a legend - Xorge Le Meji. The 1912 Stelburg midfielder can look forward to playing in front of his home fans at this tournament, and is coming off an excellent performance this season for 1912 Stelburg as he finished 2nd in the league goal scoring charts. He’s written some of the Goldhorns’ finest international moments, too, and was a key part in the ARC IV semifinal run. Le Meji plays in a different style to anybody this country has ever had in his position, coming close to a position defined in his home country as a ‘takilante,’ and with a seemingly endless energy to make threatening runs. Le Meji has become a key offensive force for this team and his chemistry with forward Einar Hackl is a devastating combo. He was another key part of the team at World Cup 99, with 3 goals in the Goldhorns' campaign including an important equalizer against Pasarga in the Round of 32.

That means that, relegated to the bench for the first time in his international career is Jesper Porsche. The captain of the national team, Porsche noted that “The game is constantly changing, and I’ll be ready when called upon” at the announcement that he would not receive his traditional #6 shirt for this campaign. At age 34, Porsche still does so many things well - particularly his passing ability. He’s a great natural leader, too, and many in the squad will look up to him for advice. However, Dominik Weismann is obviously looking to inject some youth into the team for this campaign and see what results it will bring him. Damir Prekmurje, the bruising FK Metropola Borograd midfielder, joins him on the bench. A pure destroyer, Prekmurje is a physical specimen who is also a bit underrated in terms of his ability on the ball. Prekmurje will be a good option in certain moments to replace Mats Winter. Santutxo Kramer is here again, the young midfielder showed that the hype is real with his performances both at ARC IV last year and for FC Teussen Stelburg in the club’s excellent campaign this year - he is likely the future of this midfield and many will be hoping he gets the chance to show it here. Backing up Xorge Le Meji will not be usual suspect Dieter Rosberg, but a bit of a left-field choice: Silvestr Pavlicek. The one-time Chernovets midfielder who now turns out for Wirr Tsi in Chromatik, Pavlicek had an excellent first season in the Rainbow League and showed some attacking prowess. This is an interesting opportunity for Pavlicek: the country is lucky to have Le Meji at the moment, because the depth in the more traditional advanced playmaker #10 role is quite weaker than at most other positions. Pavlicek has a real chance to assert himself, then, in his third tournament after a decent showing at the World Cup.

Wingers

LW -- Dusan Korlikov -- #7 -- 25y/o -- Montreal Koreana (QUE) -- 14 caps, 6 goals
LW -- Josef Weber -- #17 -- 24y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 4 caps, 2 goals
RW -- Aleksander Kosch-Kovarik -- #11 -- 31y/o -- TSV Marzig -- 25 caps, 13 goals
RW -- Reto Zschokke -- #21 -- 28y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 13 caps, 6 goals

The biggest shock of all in the squad selection, most certainly, came at the left wing position. Dusan Korlikov was the obvious choice - the dynamic winger dragged his Zvezda Vlaikograd side from a predicted midtable finish to their first-ever league qualification for IFCF football. Speedy and with a great shot, Korlikov then became the most expensive post-isolation transfer of a Siovanija & Teusland international with his T10 million move to Montreal Koreana in Quebec - he’s set to become an international star. Behind him, the debate all year was whether it would be Veljko Vadimic or Josef Weber. Vadimic, the FK Metropola Borograd star, has been on this national team for many years now - but he misses out this time. It was impossible to deny Josef Weber: another incredible season for Teussen heading into this tournament, and one of the finest players in the world on his day. Weber now gets the chance to build on his international career so far on the highest stage of all.

On the right side, things are a bit more straightforward. Aleksander Kosch-Kovarik remains the top choice for Dominik Weismann, the winger always seeming to elevate his game when wearing the national team jersey. While he’s never quite reached his peak of the WC97 campaign, he’s always a threat around the opposing team’s penalty area and his physicality makes him incredibly hard to defend. Reto Zschokke, meanwhile, is a star of FC Teussen Stelburg in another incredible season - scoring 16 goals from the right wing and remaining one of the league’s best players. Speedy, clinical, and riding high on confidence, Zschokke will be looking to do some damage in the ‘other’ gold shirt.

Forwards

CF -- Einar Hackl -- #9 -- 24y/o -- TSV Marzig -- 35 caps, 33 goals
CF -- Wolf Wind -- #18 -- 27y/o -- Raynor City United (VAL) -- 3 caps, 2 goals
CF -- Uwe Seidl -- #19 -- 28y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 4 caps, 4 goals

What Einar Hackl has achieved at his young age is remarkable: the all-time leading scorer at the World Cup for his country, a national title with TSV Marzig, and status as the face of the national team at the moment, all before his 23rd birthday. He’s got a long way to go to become the nation’s top scorer ever (Michael Ribbeck managed 95 career goals) but you don’t doubt that it’s possible, given his age and success so far. A poacher with a knack for getting into space, he can score from almost any chance you give him. The TSV Marzig forward is one of the best in his position in the world today. Wolf Wind’s incredible rise to stardom continues as well as he is named to the squad again for the ARC. Having transferred to Raynor City United from FC Kaiserhaven in a bit of a surprise move, and after a few months of adjustment, took Valanora by storm: winning the Golden Boot and Player of the Year honours en route to the title with RCU. Then, he did it again his second season: another Golden Boot, and Player of the Year honours. Wind is bound to become a star in the national team uniform, and after a great World Cup campaign where he scored 3 goals, many are expecting him to even challenge Hackl for the starting role. Uwe Seidl gets the third spot here, having just come off a career year with Teussen - as so many players who wear the black and gold shirt did in this historic season. Seidl is in a bit of an unfortunate position: he’s probably one of the best forwards to come out of Siovanija & Teusland in recent years, which is saying a lot - he just has 2 of the greatest forwards in the world blocking his way.

For opponents: Dieumerci Pourrien is (again) a focal point of RP this cycle, so will feature often, whether as a starter or off the bench. He's probably actually the best player in the squad, despite his youth, so feel free to highlight him more than you'd normally bother with for a "bench player". The arc of this cycle will likely focus on him reconnecting with his roots, and learning more about the history of the Cobre nation, so also feel free to RP him being a bit of a dick.

For hosts: Style mod +2 please

ABOUT

Nickname: The Panthers
Manager: Marvelous Koleoso
Captain: Bérénice Quraishi
Style of Play: Aggressive, "unshackled" football (Mod: +2)

The Cobrio national football team is operated under the auspices of the Cobre Football Federation (CFF), to represent the Independent State of Cobrio in international competition. While the team has existed in some form for around a century at this point -- it was formed during the 2220s while Cobrio sought to gain independence from Osarius, only participating in friendly tournaments and the Rabastor Unity Trophy originally. The team's first game after official World Cup Committee recognition was a 3-3 draw against Osarius at Tukari Kaita National Stadium -- a newly built stadium near Camaron, the official capital of Cobrio. This stadium also serves as the home venue for the national team.

The Panthers -- as the team is most commonly referred to -- made their debut in World Cup Committee sanctioned competition at Baptism of Fire 68, which they won. Success has since evaded them on the world stage, however. Regional success has also not been forthcoming, with infrequent participation in the CAFA Cup -- and before that, the AOCAF Cup -- though multiple wins at the Rabastor Unity Trophy, as well as other invitational tournaments, have established Cobrio as a strong footballing nation within the Rabastorian Union at least. Arguably the strongest, in fact.

Cobre culture -- being revolutionary in nature, and utterly committed to being noticeably Cobre, even when it might be considered a disadvantage -- is reflected in the way the nation approaches football. Perhaps the most famous Cobre footballer of all-time -- not counting Osarians of Cobre descent, like Jermain Lewis -- is Babatunde Warrington. A polarising figure in his day, who still holds significant influence over Cobre football culture, now being seen as a cultural revolutionary, who refused to conform to "ugwu" expectations. His defiant nature is considered to be the spark which ultimately led to Cobre football recognising and developing its own identity, apart from that of the former colonisers.

It is perhaps of particular note that the nation of Cobrio has access to, and mastery of, some post-modern/future tech. Not quite interstellar travel level of future tech, but concepts like full-brain emulation and near-universal healing methodology are very much real things in 24th-century Cobrio. Basically, if it exists in Wakanda, it probably exists in Cobrio or is achievable in the next half-century.

STADIUM
The Panthers play their home games at Tukari Kaita National Stadium, a 72,000 capacity bowl-style stadium situated on the outskirts of Camaron, the national capital. For competitions with requirements for stadia to be all-seaters, the capacity is reduced to 58,000.

The stadium incorporates an athletics track around the pitch, which, in combination with the lack of a roof, some have claimed inhibits the generation of a good atmosphere. However, fans are encouraged to bring instruments to matches, and can often be found performing lively song and dance routines.

Camaron itself is also home to the Oya Ounje -- a massive open-air market situated on the former grounds of the Palazzo Malamocco (once home to an Osarian noble, before Cobre liberation). The Oya Ounje is known for its food offerings in particular, and is a common tourist destination.

KITS
The Cobrio kits are provided by ediraf and designed to represent the nation's deep cultural heritage. The home kits are primarily gold, but incorporate the adinkra -- traditional Cobre symbols said to confer various qualities upon the wearer -- and the other colours of the national flag (green and black).

The away kits are designed in a similar fashion to the traditional uniform of initiates to the zabamince wadanda -- bodyguards to the Babbanyawo Kadangare, the spiritual leader of the nation -- in recognition of the honour of being selected. They are almost all black, which is said to represent the "void" one must embrace when entering battle. The adinkra also feature along the hem, to confer their power upon the wearer.

The goalkeeper kits are primarily green, to represent the land from which the team hails. Cobre culture exalts the land, as it is from the land that all nourishment comes, in some form or another. Traditional beliefs also state that Olugun, the Father of the Irunashe, created man from plant material in the beginning. As with the other kits, the adinkra also feature here, on the sleeves, as a goalkeeper's arms and hands are considered most important.

PLAYING STYLE
Under head coach Marvelous Koleoso, Cobrio have morphed from a cautious "Osarian 4-3-3" (with a dedicated defensive midfielder) to an expansive, adventurous system that plays a high defensive line, and presses aggressively. This has resulted in a far more entertaining spectacle for fans, and has, as a result, seen the popularity of the sport recover to near pre-war levels. It comes with an inherent risk in the defensive phase, but it's generally seen as "worth it".

After more than a decade in the role, Koleoso's overarching philosophy of "unshackled football" has permeated Cobre football culture and precipitated something of a metamorphosis in the national football identity, in line with a greater emphasis within the zeitgeist of embracing Cobre uniqueness. Now the Panthers are a tactically flexible team, with a much lower reliance on athleticism than in previous years, and a distinct way of playing that doesn't really resemble any other team in the multiverse. This desire to live and die (or win and lose, more specifically) on their own terms has also fuelled a noticeable change in the support for the national team. Defeats are much less harshly criticised as long as fans feel that the team "showed who they are" by remaining unmistakeably Cobre.

PERSONNEL

Manager
Marvelous Koleoso
Koleoso has throughout his career, often been dismissed as having his head in the clouds, but he is, in fact, an extremely insightful manager. While the criticisms of his mentality are not entirely baseless -- he does have lofty ideals for what he considers "proper Cobre football" -- he is nevertheless capable of providing his teams with the tools needed to succeed. Much like other well-regarded Cobre coaches such as Emeka Obasi, or Daniel Kunde, Koleoso's strengths lie in organisation and man-management. Consistently, throughout his career, he has extracted performances from his teams far exceeding the sum of their parts, by effectively organising them to utilise their individual strengths in the best possible way. Often, this has involved unorthodox methods, but he has an uncanny ability to achieve high levels of buy-in from players, even those most would consider to be "difficult" to manage in some way.

Most Cobre coaches are neutral, or perhaps a little reactive by nature, tending toward a cautious offense built on a well-organised defence... Koleoso disregards that and goes for a proactive, entertaining approach above all else. "Football is entertainment first," he says. "Of course we are coming to win, but winning without the cheering of the crowd for what you do on the pitch... this is not victory, na." As a result, these new Panthers take more risks than previous iterations.

Narrowly missing out on World Cup qualification the past two cycles, and dramatically outperforming expectations at times, the Panthers are no longer a "surprise" package. More teams will be aware of their threat, and thus, ready for them. But do not expect Koleoso to back down. He will almost certainly remain resolute in his commitment to his playing philosophy regardless of outcome. One downside, however, is that his system places high demands on his players, and some have blamed this for the Cobre collapse at the end of qualifying in the last two campaigns, and ultimately missing out on qualification to the World Cup proper. Despite this, Koleoso firmly believes the best possible team has largely been forged, with little to no change in personnel required.

The callups for Dieumerci Pourrien and Monifa Gwadabe, two players he calls "unchained souls" -- in that they have never conformed to the restrictions modern football academies tend to place on players -- have paid off, with the former emerging as a potentially world class talent, while the latter has consistently provided dilemmas for defences, even when she has not scored or assisted a goal.

The two represent opposite ends in some ways, of the spectrum of technical progression outlined within Koleoso's philosophy. In Pourrien's case, his unwavering self confidence and belief that he is a "transcendental talent" led him to often actively reject the advice of coaches in preference of his own instincts. As these instincts repeatedly yielded results, coaches found it difficult to manage him and steer him down a desired path. Koleoso refers to players in this mould as "butterflies", stating that they are distinctive, beautiful, and often popular among fans for these reasons... but this popularity is often a curse because such players are also fragile and easily "broken" by even a slightly too-heavy hand. Gwadabe on the other hand, simply does not fit the mould of the prototypical female forward in Akach, and as a result, lacked a real "framework" for her progression, meaning she developed "organically" within the Flames' youth sector. Koleoso players in this mould "kokoleda" (tr. "essence of the creator"), after the food commonly made from the fermented leaves of the "diallobu" (tr. "strength of all") plant in various areas of Akach and Cobrio. He explains them as being "resilient and stubborn", referring to their capacity to flourish in environments not best suited to them, but also sometimes a little overbearing in the way they stand out from the crowd, which often brings resentment. After both performed well last cycle, it is expected that Koleoso will integrate them into the team even more this time around, and potentially "unshackle" them in an attempt to release their full potential.

Squad
NOTE: Higher squad numbers typically denote lower chances of being selected for any given match.

Current clubs are not listed, since the vast majority of the squad play in the Rabastor football pyramid, which has basically zero international presence these days. The two exceptions are Pourrien (who plays for Viathyn Park AFC in Tikariot) and Gwadabe (who is registered as a developmental player with Dubisha Flames, in Akach). Everyone else you can just refer to as playing in "the combined Rabastorian Union league" if you feel a need to reference their current club. Feel free to speculate on transfers too. Basically everyone except the two aforementioned names is available for transfer.

Pourrien and Gwadabe should feature more than their squad number might suggest, though.

Archetype: Instinctive | Strengths: Awareness, Concentration

Projected Starting Lineup:
[4-2-1-3] Musona; Nicholls, Iwuoma, Harper, Ntshona; Quraishi (c), Ekpo; Kasukuwere; Gilmore, Burke, Chilcott

Image

NOTES: In games projected to be tougher (i.e. top 3-4 ranked teams in the group) expect Osundairo to feature from the start, alongside potential changes to increase the number of ball-winners on the pitch. For most matches, the lineup will be more attacking in nature though, since there will be a greater degree of confidence in the team's ability to beat most opposition at this point (especially given the number of "inexperienced" nations in the competition this cycle).

With the number of older players in the squad (i.e. 30+ years old) there will probably be more rotation. Feel free to switch around a few players from the last game if you're not one of the group's top seeds. Quraishi's age in particular means she is more likely to be subbed out of games, or rotated out of the squad now, despite being captain. When Quraishi isn't on the pitch, the captain's armband typically goes to the oldest player on the pitch (excluding the goalkeeper). If multiple players have the same listed age, it's your choice. I'll make it work. There may be times when I break this "rule" myself for plot reasons, so I have no problem with opponents naming someone else if it fits what they wanted to write too.

RP Permissions:
Do whatever you like, except killing people (but if you have a good idea on that, feel free to run it by me).
I don't really have any restrictions on anything otherwise. Mostly, I just want this to be fun :)
I DO reserve the right to use "magical spine-healing technology" (looking at you, T'Challa) on my players if you injure someone I had plans for, though.
Finally free of the oppressive yoke of the Osarian Kingdom.

Mamiyin Okaita! Ipa'elu! Ija Tesiwaju! Unukobu Yoliso!
Praises and Strength to the Great Kaita! Rise Up! The Struggle Continues! Together, the People Will Win!

Check the phrasebook if something doesn't make sense.

STAFFING
MANAGER: Oliver J. Thompson | M | 31
He never met the quality required in the club circuit to integrate into the first team of Ethanian clubs. However, Letson United quickly picked up on his tactical knowledge demonstrated on the pitch and in training. They gave him a coaching job at the age of 21 in support of the team's leadership. By 28 he was in charge of Letson United and delivered them two titles in three seasons. Now, he's been invited on to the international stage. His defensive mindset is born out of prudence - if you don't concede, you cannot lose. He likes to use his wingers and picks tall strikers to focus on set pieces and crosses into the box.
ASSISTANT MANAGER: William Davies | 67
He's come out of retirement to support Oliver Thompson in his quest to strengthen the freefalling Ethanian national team after decades in the wilderness. William is the foil to Oliver's youth, the pragmatism to Oliver's ultra-defensive style.

THE PLAYERS

GOALKEEPER: Edward Harris | 26
Winning the golden glove for 2 seasons in a row, Harris has shot up to fame from his lower league days on the Isle of Lowe. Now he is starring as the big name goalkeeper for Ethane. His reflexes and command of his back line set him above other goalkeepers in the Flame League, yet his sweeper skills and possession focus isn't the strongest. One on one he's a menace.
GOALKEEPER: Jack Roberts | 22
Young and aspirational. He has buckets of confidence, and is ready to challenge Harris for that starting spot. Developing reflexes, excellent positioning skills and awareness. Sometimes struggles on corners.
GOALKEEPER: Noah Hughes | 31
He has experience on his side, just not at the international level. His reflexes are starting to limit his performances, with his split-second decision making the worst out of the three keepers in the team. His positioning and awareness is his strength.

LEFT-BACK: Samuel Baker | 19
Samuel plays with such confidence and flair. He is an exceptional footballer who in the future, will probably lead this Ethanian national team to great success. He's cutting his metal in this world cup, so some nerves may play a role in his performances. He is pacey, and has a deadly cross. He likes to push up the wing with his pace, particularly with overlaps and cutting in.
LEFT-BACK: Daniel Murphy | 28
A well-drilled and disciplined player who does all the basics right. His positioning is brilliant, and he puts his heart and soul on the line with his tracking back. He can be beaten with pace.

CENTRE-BACK: Alexander Thomas-Brown | 25
A leader of men, and current captain of the international team. He is a role model, and knows how to handle pressure. He is tall at 6 feet 4 inches, and is brilliant and managing set pieces.
CENTRE-BACK: Henry Roberts | 22
Despite being younger by only three years, Roberts looks up to Thomas-Brown. He is not leadership material, and lacks in confidence. However he is exceptionally talented in the Ethanian league and his runs and tackles are world class. He needs that bit of management around positioning and leadership from elsewhere in the defensive lineup to keep his discipline.
CENTRE-BACK: Lucas Johnson | 29 |
A wise head and supporting leader to Thomas-Brown, he has experience and football knowledge on his side. His game management is excellent, but his pace is lacking.
CENTRE-BACK: Isaac Evans | 20
A youthful box-to-box centre-back who has far too much attacking spirit to be limited. Good to bring on when the team is chasing a goal in the closing minutes of a game.
CENTRE-BACK: Henry Beckett | 32
A older player who remembers the dark days of Ethanian football. Traumatised by years of failure, but has the grit and determination to grind out a result. Bring him on if the team is ahead and is looking to park the bus.
CENTRE-BACK: William Harrington | 18
An up and coming youth player in New Sarum who will be part of the future plans of this team. Fighting for minutes to get some international exposure.
CENTRE-BACK: Freddie Redmond | 27
Injury prone, aggressive defender.

RIGHT-BACK: Thomas Ashford | 28
Pacey but well-disciplined. He does not go forward as much but often provides support in the midfield. Has some good long passes, and good dribbling skills. Quite conservative.
RIGHT-BACK: George Wilson | 26
Form is temporary, class is permanent. George is in a dip of form and has not shown the performances he is normally capable off with a significantly lower number of assists this season, the metric he measures himself on. Hoping to reclaim the starting spot in the team off Ashford.
RIGHT-BACK: Adam Clarke | 25
A streaky player with flair and excellent in possession. Makes good runs. Not that quick, and doesn't have good decision making in the final third. Nervous in front of goal.

CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER: Ethan Brooks | 21
A strong controlling presence in midfield more inclined to track back than attack. Good at recycling possession and keeping control of the ball. Has a beefy tackle, dominates his space. Can be overwhelmed.
CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER: Mason Hayes | 20
Good at keeping control of possession. Defensive workrate could be improved. Excellent vision, makes incisive long-range passes to launch attacks.
CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER: Ryan Mitchell| 29
A player of excellent calibre who's stamina is not as good as it used to be. Good for keeping control of a game in the late stages which the team is winning.

CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Dylan Sullivan | 29
A player who likes to control possession, happy to sit back in a defensive block. Good linking play, dribbling is weak.
CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Noah Benjamin-Wilson | 24
A good dribbler with a strong offensive mindset. Has moments where he loses discipline and goes in for rash tackles. Seen as a bit of a cocky player, likes to rile up the opposition. Very passionate and outspoken.
CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Liam White | 24
Good range of passes, good at recycling possession, well-disciplined player who lacks flair but is good at sticking to a game plan.
CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Aiden Nicholas | 20
A cheeky young lad who is full of confidence and sees himself as 'all that'. Popular with the Ethanian fans. Attractive. Stylish and plays with flair. Overconfident on the football field, especially with rash shots and passes. Makes basic mistakes sometimes but looks cool doing it.
CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Gary Ward | 34
Experienced, well-disciplined player who is a leader in the team. Well-liked by fans and players for his long-term service to the team. His stamina regretfully now prevents him having more than an impact sub role. Good long shots.
CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Andy Whewall | 27
A solid, albeit basic, midfielder. Does a job, but won't set a game alight. More defensively minded. Passing is okay, but he has a limited range. Doesn't have great vision and awareness.
CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Finley Armstrong | 17
Young, energetic, brave, reckless. He is one for the future, an excellent yet still developing player. More offensively minded.

CENTRAL ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: George Knutton | 26
An incisive player who makes great runs, but can also hold up the ball and provide excellent passes into dangerous situations.
CENTRAL ATTACKING MIDFIELDER: Luke McLaughlin | 23
A confident and skilled passer who makes great passes into the box and can drift out wide to open up space. Doesn't always make great runs or have great awareness. No defensive workrate.

STRIKER: Damian Rushbrooke | 21
A flairy, confident striker with a deadly right foot but a weak left foot. Keeps getting himself into excellent positions with excellent runs. Pacey. Can find himself offside too often.
STRIKER: Cameron Tace | 28
Good hold up play as a target man, better in a possession-based system. Not pacey. Good at free kicks and long-range strikes. Not good at set pieces.
STRIKER: Bertie Hardy | 23
Energetic, often drifts wide or back to try to pick up possession of the ball. Lacking form. Reliant on good possession play from teammates. Good at set pieces.
STRIKER: Callum Stephens | 33
Very tall, good to throw on towards the end of the game looking for a last-minute goal. Won't provide pace, or stamina.

Stadiums

King Edward IV Stadium
Image

The stadium is situated in New Sarum, the capital of Ethane. New Sarum is the metropolitan hub of Ethane. Home to around 2.8 million people, it is nestled on the south-west coast of Ethane.

The stadium can hold 29,500 people in the setup as shown above.

The Marianne Detreux Stadium
Image

The stadium is located in Southern Hampton, which is on the southern end of the Isle of Lowe. This is off the coast of Ethane and is accessible by boat and plane, with special ferries and flights put in place for when matches are on. The airport is small however on the island, so much of the travel to the Isle of Lowe is by boat. The Isle of Lowe is a beautiful place with heavy focus on natural beauty. The northern side of the island is very mountainous and is great for hikes.

The stadium can hold 20,000 people.

Newton-Smith Arena
Image

This stadium is located in Letson, located in the south of Ethane. The city is heavily reliant on the tourism industry, with a decent beach and strong historical connections and landmarks as part of a tour of Ethane. The city is very rich in its cultural history and art which can be seen as you walk around the city. Letson is home to around 650,000 people, but feels a lot more homely than the other large cities.

The stadium can hold up to 25,000 people.

'The Pit'
Image

The stadium is located in Deloitte. The most unique of Ethanian stadiums, 'The Pit' is built into an old quarry. The tiers of seating and the pitch is effectively carved out of the rock, creating for a unique experience. It creates a really nice atmosphere and sound, and from the top of 'The Pit' is some beautiful views over the rolling hills around the Deloitte area leading up to the mountain belt in the centre of Ethane. No image quite captures what 'The Pit' looks like, but this image is close enough to represent roughly what is envisaged with 'The Pit', except that this stadium is carved more into the natural environment rather than building a stadium in a hole.

This stadium can hold up to 34,000 attendees.

Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.

Formation: 4-2-4

Overview: The Warkus National Football Team is competing in their second cycle in a row for the first time since, well, forever. Last time around they hosted the CAFA Cup and got unceremonsciously knocked out during the group stage (but they beat the reigning World Champions! Who also got group'd...) and they narrowly missed out on the Cup of Harmony knockout stages by finishing 9th in the league stage. They also finished 7th in their World Cup Qualifiers group with some impressive showings. This is Blethyn's second shot at qualifying and expectations are higher given the team's rise in the rankings. No one's expecting them to qualify or anything, but they should be beating the weaker sides and not humiliating themselves.

They're replacing the usual gold and green colour scheme for the 100th edition of the World Cup in homage to their original kit from the 37th Baptism of Fire (not the 50th World Cup, because that kit was even more atrocious).

The team plays a fluid attacking game which relies on speed and players frequently switching positions. In attack, the full-backs push high and wide to give the wingers space to drift inside while the centre-backs sit a little wider. One of the forwards, typically Colin Emrys, drops deep to play a 'false 9' role (this has, of course, led to debates over whether Warkus really plays a 4-2-3-1 formation instead of a 4-2-4). Both midfielders are expected to be able to play both as a Volante and as a more creative central midfielder. This allows them to swap positions to confuse their opponents, just as the forward wingers and strikers often do. But this tactic runs the risk of the players confusing themselves more than they confuse their opponents.

Manager: Jack Blethyn, 30 y/o

Supporters and critics alike have taken to calling Jack Blethyn 'The Kid'. The traditionalist types aren't keen on his overly academic, businessman-style approach to coaching, especially since he was never a professional footballer. But even they can't complain when the Doves are playing exciting, if occasionally messy, attacking football and defying expectations. He's retained the same squad from the last CAFA Cup.

Roster:
(Starters underlined)

Goalkeepers
1. Daniel Benjamin, 20 y/o
99. Rhiannon Cox, 34 y/o
32. James Orwell, 30 y/o

Defenders
2. Iawn Owen, 29 y/o
4. Isetyn Piwter, 26 y/o
3. Aneurin Evans, 31 y/o
5. James Roberts, 32 y/o
40. Greg Stevens, 34 y/o
55. Ahmed al-Saqqaf, 26 y/o
50. Victor Murphy, 28 y/o
97. Mary Davies, 26 y/o
12. Dafydd Edwards, 33 y/o

Midfielders
6. Rhodri Fallows, 30 y/o
7. Michael Williams, 29 y/o
98. Sara Maxwell, 27 y/o
77. Seven Price, 25 y/o
18. Pádraig Murphy, 21 y/o

Forwards
9. Siôr Castell, 21 y/o
22. Colin Emrys, 21 y/o
11. Llewelyn Rose, 27 y/o
8. Max Tarbutt, 27 y/o
10. Robert Machen, 34 y/o
14. Arwel Wynn, 31 y/o
28. Pigeon Abbott, 32 y/o
42. Mark Morgan, 30 y/o
24. Alistair Griffiths, 20 y/o

Players to look out for:

Llewelyn Rose serves as a the team's captain and star striker. Good at scoring goals, good at telling his teammates what to do and good looking to boot. He's hitting his prime and becoming a more complete player every day. But it won't be long before younger players like Colin Emrys and Alistair Griffiths come into their own and become a threat to his status as the team's poster boy. Expect him to score goals, expect to hear him yelling instructions to his teammates and expect him to sell cheap cologne with his name on it.

Rhodri Fallows is the team's vice-captain and serves as part of a flexible midfield pairing with Michael Williams. He's key to both the team's defence and attack, although he doesn't look it to the casual observer. If he's shut down or bested by a better midfielder, then the rest of the team will suffer dearly. Casual fans think he's rubbish and the geeks will tell you he's the team's unsung hero.

Isetyn Piwter is a proper no-nonsense centre-back. He can be caught out of position on the counter-attack, since he's still struggling to figure out how wide to sit when the Doves are attacking and how narrow he should be when they're defending. But when he is in position, and when he's not facing a pacy forward, he's a force to be reckoned with. The King of the not-so-tactical foul, Piwter is the most likely player in the Warkus squad to get carded.

Stadiums:

Sand Dome Dinas Sand, West Warcus (Capacity: 97,530)

A big stadium with a closed roof and air conditioning. Not as well looked after as some of the other big stadiums, since it’s rarely used, but the stands are made out of a fortified red clay. That’s pretty cool.

Dome of Virtue Nyareth Newydd, Central Warkus (Capacity: 110,000)

A very big stadium built to imitate the style of Dinas Wen’s Caer Lloer – so it’s very gothic and it’s jet black. Locals have mixed feelings about its appearance. It looks cool but having your city and country’s biggest stadium based on a castle from another city is a little embarrassing for some. The kind of place where you’d typically see cricket games. A little too big for anything but a Grand Final. Infamously considered a bit of a library because of the quiet Warkusians normally populating the stands.

Brief National Team History
The Kadongo Kamu have played in exactly 884 games, as of the start of World Cup 100 Qualifying. It is the 27th all-time World Cup cycle for Banija. We have entered in Qualifying for 23 separate campaigns (WCQ73-77, WCQ79-80, WCQ82, and WCQ84-98), and hosted three other World Cups (81, 83, and 99). We have also participated in Baptism of Fire 60, and been a participant in four different Cup of Harmonies(CoH 66, CoH 67, CoH 71, and CoH 81). In four Cups of Harmony, Banija has only once moved past the group stage, in CoH 81, and they promptly fell on penalties in the Round of 16. In their lone Baptism of Fire, they earned a lone point.

After not competing at all during the World Cup 78 Cycle due to the RBSA's bankruptcy, they re-entered the world of international football in World Cup 79 cycle. A shocking World Cup 79 Qualification campaign saw them on the brink of qualifying, but the team simply ran out of gas and lost 4 of their final 5 matches to not make it to Ceni/Drawkland. Since then, the U21 team got 3rd place at the 42nd Di Bradini Cup, and the national team advanced to the quarterfinals of AOCAF LV, AOCAF LVI, and AOCAF LVII, establishing themselves as a strong regional side, falling to the eventual champs in the latter two tournaments. They stunningly qualified for World Cup 80, after starting poorly by losing 5 of their first 9, to going unbeaten in the second half of qualifying, where they won 7 of those games. In the World Cup 80 Qualification playoffs, a 3-0 first leg victory in Montreal, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, powered the team through to their first ever appearance in the World Cup Finals, advancing to sport's pre-eminent competition 5-3 on aggregate over Mercedini. While a pair of one goal losses saw them eliminated after two games, they earned their first ever victory at the World Cup Finals in a 2-0 win over New Gazi in their final group stage game. As they hosted World Cup 81, they went directly to the tournament, and went to their first ever knockout stages, winning Group A before falling, 1-1(2-1 AET) to Turori in the Round of 16. They cruised to qualification in World Cup 82, maintaining a top two spot in their World Cup Qualification group behind Brenecia for the entirety of the World Cup 82 Qualification campaign, getting to the tournament with relative ease before bowing out in the group stages.

The World Cup 83 cycle was their strongest yet. Starting with AOCAF LVIII on home soil, co-hosted with the Commonwealth of Baker Park, the Kadongo Kamu won 6 consecutive matches to open the tournament, taking their winning streak all the way to the final. Unfortunately, they were felled, 4-2, at home to their archrivals, the Equestrian States. Co-hosting World Cup 83 as well, the Banijans made a miraclous run at the World Cup, upending 5th ranked South Covelllo on penalties, and defeating the then two-time defending world champions Vilita in the quarterfinals, before falling, 3-2, at the national stadium to Starblaydia. They added to the trophy case, however, earning a bronze medal after defeating Cassadaigua in the 3rd place playoff game.

The World Cup 84 cycle, the first with real title expectations for the Banijans, was a disappointment in the regionals, as we fell 1-0 to Ko-oren in the AOCAF Round of 16, although we advanced to the quarterfinals of World Cup 84 before dropping to Eura in extra time. The World Cup 85 cycle seems to be a promise of hope for the Banijans. Although AOCAF LX was a rough tournament for the Banijans, it was surrounded by two excellent tournament performances for the Banijans. We won the U21 World Cup(DBC 47), and are just coming off earning our first ever senior-level trophy, by winning the 8th Eagle's Cup to be admitted as a full, permanent member of the Eagle's Club right before the beginning of World Cup Qualifying. Following that, the Banijans dominated World Cup 85 Qualifying, going wire-to-wire as the first place team in their World Cup Qualifying group, as well as earning more points in World Cup Qualifying(67) than any other team did throughout the entire campaign. Those strong performances both in the Eagle's Cup and World Cup Qualifying have caused fans to put an up and down AOCAF behind them, and heighten the standard for World Cup 85. While they escaped the group stages with four points, strong wins over Vilita and Zwangzug in the knockouts put them on course for a medal, as they eventually beat allies Baker Park in the bronze medal match, after falling 3-2 to the eventual champions Free Republics in the semifinal.

After a return to the AOCAF LXI Quarterfinals, their first quarterfinal appearance in the last 3 editions of the regional championships, they fell to Chromatika on penalties. The World Cup 86 Qualification campaign went rather swimmingly- the national team went a perfect 18-0-0 in World Cup Qualifying, the first time that had happened in well over 10 cycles. The multiverse's #1 ranked squad was brimming with confidence, the two-time bronze medalists entering World Cup 86 trying to win the biggest trophy in all of sports for the first time.

Marcus Waters has always preached the following- "you've got to win at home before you can win the World Cup." It's always meant you've got to win in Atlantian Oceania before you can expect to win the World Cup. And while we've never won the AOCAFs, our group was all Atlantian Oceania sides- Ko-oren, Chromatika, and Mriin. We finished in first place with a 1-0 win over Ko-oren, a 2-2 draw against Chromatika, and a 0-0 draw against Mriin being enough to earn 5 points. Then, we faced a gauntlet of former World champions. A 1-0 win over them put us in our fourth consecutive World Cup Quarterfinal, against 5 time World champions Valanora. A thrilling 4-3 win put us in the semifinal, again facing a GSW rival- World Cup 84 winners Farfadillis. In one of the wildest World Cup semifinals ever played, Banija came out on top 7-6, with a stoppage time winner to put them in the Final against the World Cup 85 winners Nephara. It was a true game of the century- neither team had lost a competitive match since the start of World Cup Qualifying, neither losing during Qualifying or the Finals. And in that thriller, it would be the Banijans who would win, taking a lead and holding onto it, winning by 3 goals to 2 against Nephara to lift the trophy and declare themselves World Cup Champions.

The ensuing AOCAF was strong, but not as strong as they wanted it to be. After starting slowly and losing their opening two games, they finished well done the stretch of group play, and even won a pair of knockout stage games before eventually falling to the champions, Baker Park, in the Semifinals. The Banijans redeemed themselves by earning a bronze medal against Sarzonia. The team took a B squad to Eagle's Cup IX, but a strong performance there landed them a silver medal, losing in the final to Valanora. World Cup 87 did not go the way they expected, getting eliminated in the group stages for the first time since World Cup 82. But we recovered in the World Cup 88 cycle. While a quarterfinal elimination at both Eagle's Cup X and AOCAF LXIII were not great, we were unbeaten in World Cup 88 Qualifying, and reached the World Cup 88 Semifinals, eliminating the defending champions Nephara and falling to the eventual champions Turori along the way. We used that momentum of the semfiinal run to finally earn a regional title, as on our 10th try, we finally won the AOCAFs, defeating Hapilopper in the semifinals and Valanora in the Final, winning both matches via penalty kick shootouts.

That regional title meant little in World Cup Qualifying, however, as Pemecutan and Zwangzug both pipped past Banija to automatically qualify for the World Cup, and left Banija in the dust, gasping for air. That called for a reset from the RSBA, which led to Marcus Waters resigning and Pam Scott be hired. While neither the Cup of Harmony nor the AOCAFs went particularly well, Pam Scott's laser focus on qualifying for the World Cup was a success, as the team not only went to World Cup 90, but showed up in style, winning a pair of penalty shootouts, before falling to the eventual winners, The Holy Empire, on PKs, in the semifinals. They still beat Valanora in the third place match, 2-1, to earn their third overall bronze medal. To reset things for World Cup 91, Banija easily won our qualification group, but flopped on our face in the Finals- losing our last two group stage matches after opening the tournament with 3 points, and promptly falling out at the group stages.

Pam Scott changed the mood entirely following, however, as the Banijans surprised many by winning AOCAF 67, including eliminating tournament favorites, Valanora, on home soil. The team built on that, in what was one of their best cycles ever- after going unbeaten in Qualifying (17 wins and 3 draws, with no losses), they went to the World Cup with confidence. After winning their group with ease, 7 points, they made it all the way to their Second ever World Cup Final, at World Cup 92. Wins over Squidroidia and world number ones Turori followed in the knockout stages, followed by a PK shootout victory over Valanora. But in the World Cup 92 Final, they fell at the final hurdle, as Zwangzug lifted the sport's ultimate trophy. While they could not retain their regional title, losing to the host nations, Valanora, in the AOCAF 68 Final, the lessons learned were paramount. They reached the World Cup and turned on another gear, earning their second ever World Cup title after defeating Chromatika, 4-3, in the World Cup 93 Final.

After they fell in the semifinals of AOCAF 69, the question was- could Banija repeat on the world stage? And the answer, undoubtedly, was yes. In sensational fasion, the Banijans earned their third ever World Cup title in a title defense- going a combined 25-0-2(W-L-D) across Qualifying and the World Cup Finals combined to earn a championship at World Cup 94. And they maintained the form at the AOCAFs- turning down worthy challenger after worthy challenger to do something they have never done before- be regional and world champions at the same time.

Unfortunately, the chase for the threepeat died miserably- World Cup 95 was a nightmarish campaign. The Qualifying campaign barely got off the ground, and it never really went anywhere- although we qualified, it was only via a last minute decider via a playoff- not what a team looking to win a World Cup title is looking to do. And the poor form carried over when it counted most, as it resulted in a group stage knockout for Banija. But that was not a one-off- it started a downturn for the Banijans. A disappointing result at the inauguaral ARC, followed by failing to qualify for World Cup 96, has put a lot of pressure on this team for the last ARCs. The old guard had their last chance and disapppointed- and ergo, there was a top to bottom cleaning of the house. 12 players from the last roster retired, as well as the manager- and so, with George Wangolo taking the reigns as NT manager, it is a new era for the Kadongo Kamu.

The first Banijan manager in 24 cycles to get the full-time job, he had a successful first cycle. There were plenty of questions, as he turned over half the roster and Banija barely whimpered in World Cup 96. But while starting a little rocky, Banija were firing on all cylinders by around the halfway mark- qualifying directly for the World Cup, and ensuring an emphatic win over the Pot 1 side as well. The actual Finals were a stunning success- Banija not only winning their group with 7 points, but advancing past both the Round of 32 and Round of 16, before falling eventually in the Quarterfinals to Tumbra. The run was life-giving, as there is hope that, in the near-term future, this is a squad that can compete for the biggest trophies.

Unfortunately, Wangolo did not built upon this, getting smoked out of the regional tournament, ARC 3- Banija's first ever elimination in the group stages from a regional tournament. Stunning- they had advanced to the KO stages of the regional tournament 19 straight times(United Valhaven once, AOCAFs 16 times out 16, and ARC 1 and 2). A real shocker- they won their first game 4-1, and then lost three in succession to be dumped out of the tournament in the Squornshelan Confederacy. A real shock- what should have been a feel good moment has quickly turned the mood around the NT sour. The RBSA expressed their confidence in Wangolo, but it went from bad to worse- despite a dominating Qualifying campaign, going 12-1-1, the team had their worst ever World Cup Finals performance, earning just 1 point across three games, despite being in Pot 1 and being ranked 8th in the world.

What did that mean? Wangolo was fired, and now, there's a new man in charge. He had a solid regional tournament, taking Banija to third place at the ARC in Siovanija & Teusland. He could not build on it, as the team backed into the KO stages of a home World Cup, scoring just 1 goal in three group games, before being outclassed by Tikariot in the Ro32. While many thought he wouldn't survive that, he did by the skin of his own teeth- aka, all of the people with the authority to fire him resigned. But he wasn't a lame duck at ARC V- resurrecting himself as he led the Banijans to a strong performance at the regionals, winning all four group games, and going all the way to the Final- before losing, brutally, to Farfadillis, their rivals. Still, an excellent tournament, as he prepares to lead his team into World Cup Qualifying for the first time, and get the taste of a disappointing home World Cup out of their mouths.

List of National Team managers
1. Kizza Kabila(Banija). Manager for Baptism of Fire 60 and the World Cup 73 Qualification Campaign. Overall record of 0-14-1(W-L-D).

Kizza Kabila is the only Banijan to have ever managed the national team. Hired for Banija's first foray onto the international scene in this sport, his reign was universally derided as a disaster. Managing 15 games, he drew his first game in the Baptism of Fire, and not only lost the next two, he then lost ever single match in the 12 game World Cup Qualification campaign for World Cup 73, with the side only scoring 5 goals across the entire campaign. Unceremoniously fired after becoming one of few managers to go through an entire World Cup Qualification campaign without earning a single point, he, alongside the entire board of the RBSA, resigned after the last game. He was disgraced in the sport after the campaign, and, to this point, has never returned to top-level soccer.

2.Jan Cassallerus(San Llera): Hired before the start of the World Cup 74 Qualification Campaign, managed through the World Cup 77 Qualification Campaign. Overall Record of 27-32-16(W-L-D).

Banija put its eyes abroad, searching for a foreign manager before the World Cup 74 Qualification campaign, and found Jan Cassallerus. He is Banija's longest ever serving manager, being at the helm for four entire World Cup cycles, and being at the helm for 75 total games, a kind of longevity unheard of in the modern game, especially managing the national team. He started winning a game at the Coupe D'Esquarium, in what was known as the group of death. He was largely celebrated for bringing the team into relevancy. The expectations were through the floor, following Kizza Kabila, but he brought the team to Cup of Harmony 66 and Cup of Harmony 67, as well as advancing in Olympic Qualifying and getting third place at the United Valhaven Regional Football Championships. He was forced into retirement after the World Cup 77 Qualification campaign, when the RBSA declared bankruptcy, and could not participate in the World Cup 78 Qualification Campaign due to their inability to compensate players and staff.

3. Randolf Cherry(Drawkland): Hired before the start of the World Cup 79 Qualification Campaign. Overall Record of 20-24-2(W-L-D)

Randolf Cherry, after the RBSA got its act together, was hired- controversially- as the manager of the national team. Not that his own hire was controversial, it was applauded across the sports spectrum here at home. He was given a 3 cycle contract, and everyone knew what the goal was- to make the World Cup Finals at least once over the course of the contract. They understood that it would take time to climb the rankings, and they were willing to give him the leash. However, he came in a very awkward situation. Adama Sowe, the Chairman of the RBSA, allegedly first offered the job to Sarah Owens, out of the Equestrian States. Of course, it is illegal in Banija for women to coach men's professional teams, and that caused controversy. And yet, here he was- the manager of the national team.

His own home country of Drawkland is, of course, very progressive in that area, where the sport is dominated by the ladies. Regardless, he had an excellent start to his reign as a manger, and was initially extremely popular. He won his first game, in a special Eagles Club match, against Aggrey-Fynn Land. He lost his first few qualifiers, but he went on a dear through the middle of qualifying, which included a 7 game winning streak on home soil. Big wins against then 4th ranked Chromatika at home and then 32nd ranked Eshan, put them in the conversation of World Cup Qualification, though they were simply not strong enough.

The Cup of Harmony was considered a disaster, finishing in dead last in their group. The competition maybe simply isn't for the Banijans, eh? But they were strong throughout the offseason, making a surprising quarterfinal run in AOCAF LV and bringing high hopes to the squad going into World Cup 80 Qualification. Hopes were through the roof for the national team, maybe even bordering unrealistic. They struggled, and the campaign got worse as the pressure built, as the squad lost their final four qualifiers of the first half of qualifying. With the campaign seemingly in free-fall, he was fired, as the RBSA said they wanted time to conduct "an open, thorough, search."

4. Marcus Waters(Equestrian States): Hired after the 1st half of World Cup 80 Qualifying, fired at the end of World Cup 89 Qualifying. Overall record of 257-81-50(W-L-D). All-time winning percentage of 66.24%. All-time points percentage of 70.53%.

Marcus Waters was the national team's assistant manager with Randolf Cherry above him, and the manager of the youth national teams. He first gained notoriety in Banija after successfully leading the U21 team to a 3rd place finish at the 42nd Di Bradini Cup. With his abilities clear, it made sense to move onto him as the interim manager as they searched for a permanent manager ahead of the second half of World Cup Qualifying. However, he was able to complete a stunning turnaround of this team. His first game in charge, he changed nearly the entire backline, and had a massive upset, away to Qasden, by a score of 3-2. A 3-0 victory over Razenthuria in the other mid-qualifying friendly got high hopes for him.

Marcus Waters went out with an intent to keep his team focused, despite everything going on at home. He has proven adept at navigating the political minefield that is this job, especially with his own country of origin essentially at war with Banija. He didn't lose a single game in the second half of qualifying, winning 7 games to get to the playoffs, including when the team was forced to play home games in Montreal due to ongoing violence within Banija. He was widely applauded for getting the team ready to play in Montreal, and winning 1-0 against Turori, the group's top seeded squad, and a 3-0 win in Montreal in the Qualification playoffs. While the RBSA interviewed four other candidates, his successful push through the World Cup Qualification playoffs and into Banija's first-ever World Cup Finals essentially clinched the job for him, as he put pen to paper to take the interim tag off of his title ahead of the 80th World Cup Finals.

Since then, of course, he has done a lot to garner the confidence of the higher-ups, and of the fans. Falling to the eventual champions in the quarterfinals of both AOCAF LVI and AOCAF LVII was widely seen as a positive. As well as, of course, a surprising Fourth Place finish in the Cup of Champions Six, highlighted by a surprising point earned in their matchup against Nephara, while also pushing through to the Round of 16 of World Cup 81, pleasing the home fans. A different sort of pressure faces him this campaign, however.

For the first time in his reign, you could say that Banija had a disappointing tournament, failing to advance in World Cup 82 beyond the group stages. It might be harsh to say that- on paper, advancing from a group with both Pasarga and Farfadillis is a tall order if your team is not Pasarga or Farfadillis. They responded well, however, winning six consecutive games at AOCAF LVIII, and knocking off major nations including Cosumar and Mriin at the tournament, before being felled in the final, in their own capitol of Busukuma, to Equestria. Following up with a World Cup on home soil, they continued that momentum forward from AOCAF LVIII, as the Banijans took on the role of giantslayers on home soil. They beat the 5th ranked South Covello side, and the then two-time defending world champions Vilita, before eventually falling to Starblaydia in the semifinals, though they still earned a bronze medal. Although momentum was blunted after a tough 1-0 defeat to Ko-oren that secured an early exit from AOCAF LIX, they followed that up with their second straight appearance in the World Cup Quarterfinals, where they fell to Eura in extra time.

The last two cycles he really got the team to rise above themselves. The last two World Cup Qualification cycles, Banija has finished as the best team in World Cup Qualifying by points earned. And he has the silverware to match- a bronze medal earned in World Cup 85, followed by a gold medal in World Cup 86. Having risen from basically nowhere in Equestria to household name status in Banija, he has truly made a name for himself as one of the world's premier international managers. While World Cup 87 was disappointing, he quickly ensured that was a one-off, rather than a sign of things to come. He brought Banija to their fourth World Cup semifinal in their past six tournaments at World Cup 88, and followed that up with winning the country's first ever regional title.

But he is now a victim of his own success. An Eagle's Cup champion, the AO champion, and a World Cup champion, he drastically raised the bar for the Kadongo Kamu. But Banija winning 9 of their last 10 Qualifiers could not overcome their disastrous, and therefore, we did not qualify for the World Cup Finals. The RBSA had no other choice but to let the legend and Hall of Famer walk, as the time has come around for the national team to change their head man for the first time since World Cup 80.

5. Pamela Scott(Commonwealth of Baker Park): Hired after World Cup 89 Qualifying, right before Cup of Harmony 81. Retired after ARC 2, following World Cup 96. Overall Record of 174-46-58(W-L-D). Winning percentage: 62.59%. Points percentage: 69.54%

Scott is widely regarded as one of the brightest tactical minds in the sport, and her record speaks for itself. Replaced Trevor Richmond as BP National Team Manager after the side qualified for the WC in their first three attemps, then followed Ichi Tuzzio as boss of the WC 85 Champions, overhauling the roster and bringing a bit of defensive awareness to the legendary Farf attacking style. Has an eye for young talent and not afraid to give them a chance. The above is why she was hired- leverage her experience to bring stabilization to a national team that is currently reeling.

While the Cup of Harmony and the AOCAFs both resulted in disappointing exits at the Round of 16, and the Eagle's Cup went disastrously(not scoring for 5 consecutive matches), Pam Scott is still upbeat about the direction of the national team. "With this cycle, everything is about World Cup Qualification." She told reporters. "Those tournaments, while they did not go well, were about finding the right squad, building to this moment. Banija wants to compete on all fronts, of course- but we cannot do that if we are not qualifying for the World Cup. These tournaments, while not great on the field, have allowed me to experiment all sorts of lineups, and expose different players to elite competition at the international stage. How they deal with things like pressure. You're going to see much different results when the team takes the field for World Cup 90 Qualifying."

But her first World Cup in charge was an unmitigated success. Beating both Audioslavia and Eura was a stunner, as Banija won the group of death with a game to go. Not resting on their laurels, they downed two AO rivals, SRS and Baker Park, in back-to-back games in route to the semifinals, and eventually, a bronze medal. With that success, Pam Scott declared that the national team is "back to competing on all fronts". While the last World Cup's group stage embarassment was a disappointment, she more than made up for it by bringing home her first major international trophy- the AOCAFs.

Last cycle, after reaching the AOCAF Final and falling to Valanora, she was able to take the lessons learned from that and bring Banija to our second ever World Cup title- and her first. She's now, after a long journey from Baker Park, to Farfadillis, and now Banija, has reached the sports pinnacle. But what's more impressive than getting to the top, is staying at the top. She led Banija to an unbeaten Qualifying campaign(dropping just 2 points from 20 Qualifiers), and followed that up with a second World Cup win- this time, in emphatic fashion, with a bunch of high-drama, one goal wins throughout World Cup 94 leading up to a convincing 4-1 victory over Valanora in the World Cup 94 Final. With what may be the final AOCAF trophy in hand, Her reputation in Banija is firmly established with all sorts of silverware- certainly the greatest Banijan manager ever.

Ultimately, like most NT managers, she could not succeed forever. There was a firm downturn after the success of WC92-94 cycles, as a group stage elimination in WC95 was a sign of dark things to come- a pair of first KO round eliminations at the ARC, sandwiching a failed qualification campaign for WC96, led to her downfall. While it was rough at the end, she has surely firmly established herself as the greatest ever in this country.

6. George Wangolo. Hired after ARC 2, fired after World Cup 98. Overall Record of 27-12-6(W-L-D). Winning percentage: 60.00%. Points percentage: 64.44%

1. The Equestrian States. All time Banijan record against opponent- 3-7-2(W-L-T). (Record not up to date)

The Equestrian States are easily Banija's biggest rival, and by a country mile. It has all the makings of a good international sporting rivalry- plenty of matches played, history of competitive matches, geopolitical rivalry, player familiarity, and, of course, geographical proximity- all those boxes are checked. They've played each other 5 times, and Banija has come out on the losing end each and every time, most recently a 4-0 clobbering at the hands of the Equestrian States during Banija's final friendly before this qualification tournament began.

Three times have they played in competitive competition, and three times Banija has fallen. The Equestrian States eliminated Banija from Cup of Harmony 71 in group play, while also defeating the Banijans in both the opening match of World Cup 80, and the final group stage match of AOCAF LVI, though the Banijans still advanced to the quarterfinals of that tournament. The familiarity of players between each other is strong. Banija's present and most successfull all-time manager, Marcus Waters, is Equestrian. A number of players in each country play in leagues in the other. Famous Equestrian NT players like Aaron Aiza, Rosie Tyler, and Josef Lawrenz, ply their trade in the Banijan Soccer League, with Aiza particularly growing to superstar status while winning league titles at Herzegovina City FC.

Banija's first ever major final in this sport, at the senior level, was against none other than Equestria at the national stadium, with the winner to be crowned champions of AOCAF LVIII Final. In front of a decidedly pro-Banijan crowd, it was the Equestrians who dashed Banijan dreams of glory on their home turf as they picked up their first ever major international silverware, with a 4-2 victory. That victory has made the Banijans just that much hungrier to defeat their bitter rivals, and though the history is lopsided in favor of Equestria, that has just fueled the fire on this side of the matchup. The two sides co-hosted World Cup 83 together, and almost had a rematch of their AOCAF LVIII Final in the World Cup Final, though Banija could not fulfill its end of the bargain as they fell to a stronger Starblaydia side in the semifinals. Equestria, of course went on to win the World Cup, and the next AOCAF to boot, establish a fully fledged dynasty. The Banijans, in pre WOrld Cup 84 Qualification friendlies, got their first ever result against the Equestrians, a 0-0 draw in Everfree.

Equestria and Banija were in the same group at AOCAF LXII, with the opening match of the tournament being a repeat of the AOCAF LVIII Final. Banija, we thought, rising high and champions. But Equestria came to rain on the parade. They won on Matchday 1, by a score of 2-1 in Busukuma, and we could only manage a return draw. Our fiercest rivals, and yet, we've still never managed to have beaten them, in a competitive or a friendly match. That search for the elusive win against Equestria continues.

Banija landed their first ever win over Equestria in the Round of 16 at AOCAF LXVI. Years of angst were excised by this national team, as [url=https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=39501593#p39501593they crushed the Equestrians, 3-0[/url], in a match that may have finally begun to turn this rivalry towards team Banija. Now, the rivalry has cooled down, but Banijan dominance has been consistence- including their 2-1 over Equestria, in Equestria, during the group stages of ARC V .

2. Farfadillis. All time Banijan record against opponent- 3-6-0(W-L-T) (Record not up to date)

What makes a good international rivalry? You need a mixture of history and luck. Luck, to have played in plenty of high stakes matches against each other on the biggest stages- World Cups, AOCAFs, and the like. But you also need nearness. What makes these two know each other so well? We've played in twice as many competitive matches against Chromatika as we have against Farfadillis.

Well, let's go with the political intrigue. Of course, there's geography- Farfadillis is the closest nation to Banija that does not share a land border with Banija. Their former capitol, is on the northern tip of their island, which is just south of Busukuma, the Banijan capitol city. So of course, there's that familiarity. And when the Farfadillis national government fell apart and they fell into some sort of a controlled chaos, many refugees fled Farfadillis for the stability of Banija. Busukuma became the natural landing place. There are no official numbers, but there an estimated 100,000 or so Farf refugees across the country, but with over half of them, around 60,000, residing in Busukuma.

So there's that familiarity on an intimate level, especially in Banija, and especially in Banija's capitol. Especially in the capitol, it's always a huge deal when these two meet. And besides that? Well, of course, we [url=https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=37273196#p37273196]dropped a few nuclear warheads[/url] on Farfadillis, where Banija's nuclear weapons got both hacked and stolen by operatives. While, surprisingly, it didn't cause as much damage as one would expect, 5 nuclear weapons are still quite a bit to get hit by. Farf citizens weren't exactly appreciative, and that is fresh in everybody's mind.

Lastly, look at the integration of our footballing systems. We have a combined league. With the combination of our top flights in the Shango-Fogoa Premier League, Banijan footballing fans and Farf footballing fans interact every single week. Sometimes peacefully, sometimes violently, always loud and passionately. For two seperate nations(plus Busoga), they have a very integrated league system. And that, of course, will mean that the rivalry is played out every week. Banijan teams v. Farf teams. Farf teams got the better of their Banijan opponents, by and large, throughout the inaugural season, but there is still plenty left to say on the subject.

This is Banija's clear #2 rival, ahead of anybody else, besides Equestria. And as the S-FPL continues, this rivalry will continue to be competitive for years to come. Not to mention, the two have played a pair of thrilling World Cup Finals matches against each other- Farfadillis being victorious in World Cup 81, and then being victorious again in World Cup 84, where they went on to win that World Cup. And they met in the Final of ARC V- with Farfadillis triumphing, 5-4, with a late winner in a festival of goals.

3. Chromatika. All time Banijan record against opponent- 8-3-2(W-L-T) (Record not up to date)

This is, admittedly, not the first nation you think of when you think of Banija's rivals. But There is a long-time history between these two nations. These two have more shared history than Banija and any other opponent, at least in competitive matches. Banija and Chromatika have faced off a grand total of 9 times competitively- all in the modern era of Banijan soccer, which is WCQ79-present. It was that first campaign back, after the RBSA bankruptcy, where it was established.

Banija had one of their biggest ever all-time wins in that Qualifying campaign, our first ever win over a top 5 opponent, when we beat then #4 Chromatika 2-1 in Jinja City. It's a night that has gone down in Banijan history. Looking back, many see it as Banija's first true launch towards where we are now- from a consistent middle of the pack nation in Qualifying, who couldn't do anything in the Cup of Harmony, to demanding a seat at the table by being an elite squad.

And we've played plenty of times since, as well. AOCAF LXI- we beat them in the group stages, only to fall to them in the Quarterfinals, on penalty kicks. We each got clean sheet victories over the other team at Eagle's Cup VIII, a tournament that we ended up winning. And we played them twice in World Cup Qualifying for 86, beating them twice en route to a perfect 18-0-0 Qualifying record. We played them again at the Finals, and we battled out a 2-2 draw.

They're a tough opponent, and considering the frequency of our matches in recent years, meeting up in the Finals would not be that unexpected. We know each other well, have played with plenty of stakes on the line. And, of course, there's those cultural and political connections that make the greatest international rivalries- a Banijan delegation, led by present Banijan Ambassador to Chromatika and former Banijan Minister of Justice, Xolile Lubabalo, helped shepherd Chromatika's transition to democracy. It's friendly, but there's plenty of history to make it interesting.

Of course, to make things even more interesting, these two met on the grandest stage of them all- the World Cup 93 Final. While Banija triumphed in a close-fought match (and a stunning come from behind second half victory), it has really moved Chromatika probably close to the top of Banija's rivals list, especially with S&T no longer participating in these tournaments and the Equestrian States no longer reaching the high levels they once had in the past.

Honorable Mentions
Nations mentioned here are considered key rivals, but there is not enough competitive match history to really define it as a rivalry. Nations are not listed in order.

- Siovanija & Teusland(Geographic proximity, cultural + political ties)
- Valanora(geographic proximity, recent KO stage battles at the AOCAFs and the WC, including meeting in the WC94 Final)
- Royal Kingdom of Quebec(general history and close political/cultural ties- Banija is a former colony of Quebec and they have been close ever since)
- Sarzonia(General sporting rivalry, history with 3 AOCAF matches against each other, 2 World Cup Qualifying matches, and a World Cup Finals match)
- Baker Park(cultural plus political ties)

1. Layvin Son-Saka

The most hyped prospect, in this sport anyways, is Gitonga Kahara for Banija. Those who are old enough to remember the hype coming out of DBC 42- well, you can say that he lived up to it, having a storybook ending for his career- his last game for Banija, captaining our country to our first ever World Cup title. Son-Saka has every bit the hype- and some say even more talent. "Gitonga Kahara will always hold a special place in the hearts of Banijans- but the next great winger is here, and Son-Saka has the potential to not be equalled by anybody."

Think of the exploits he's had for St. John's Arsenal as a teenager. Scoring the title-winning goal to lead St. John's Arsenal to their first Q-League title in 28 years, he's the main man in one of the biggest leagues in club football. And now, starring for his country too. He probably should have a WC title and been on the WC94 team- but Pam Scott opted to bring on her veteran, Sarafina Ikpeazu, for one last ride. Can't argue with those results, of course. But it's his team now. He got onto the team, got the #7 jersey and the starting job right away, and even has a regional title to show for it, being a key starter on Banija's AOCAF 70 winning team- the final AOCAF.

Of course, while he has been a bright spot, the team has gone quite far downhill since then. Widely recognized as the team's best player, he's been given the armband as the captain for the Kadongo Kamu not only this time around, but for the long-term, at just 24 years old. He's gladly taken on that responsibility, and despite there being senior players ahead of him, he will wear the armband for a decade+. He strong believes that he will compete for the biggest possible trophies for Banija, and that their brightest days are ahead- as opposed to behind. He's now been through the ups and downs- the joys of a shockingly surprising run to the quarterfinals of World Cup 97, and the lows of a brutal, and equally shocking, group stage elimination at ARC 3- followed by an embarrassing group stage elimination at World Cup 98, where he didn't even score a goal.

Has there ever been more pressure on a Banijan athlete than there is on Son-Saka now? Mega-talented, he was critical in starting the turnaround of the NT, leading them to a solid third place finish at ARC IV. And yet- he bombed at World Cup 99. Nobody looked good going forward, but for this man to not score a single goal? Impossible. He was pissed off and motivated, and helped lead the team back to the ARC Final. Despite a tough loss to Farfadillis in that Final, there's belief that was a major growth tournament, and they can ride that momentum into World Cup 100 Qualifying. Can he showcase his regional tournament form in World Cup Qualifying?

2. Musoke Owole

The box to box midfielder is getting a lot of attention, as the 21 year old has fought his way into the starting XI for club and country, with his debut at ARC V. When you're in the center of the park of the country's biggest club, you know pressure- and Owole's eager to take it all in for his country as well. "You dream of these moments, being part of a starting XI wearing these colors, and now, I'm here." He told reporters. "My opportunity is now, and we're going to build towards World Cup 100."

The regionals were an interesting tournament- both he individually, and the team at-large, performed quite well, as Banija won their first 6 games of the tournament, only to lose the all-important seventh match- the Final. He was a player who, at the tournament, solidifed his place in the starting XI. A dynamic prospect, there isn't much he can't do- but he's got a penchant for boneheaded mistakes, as his mental game is considered weak by many scouts. Despite that, he really stepped up in big games- scoring his first ever goal for the NT in the semifinal victory against Siovanija & Teusland, and then scoring again in the Final against Farfadillis.

Young, quick, powerful, and raw, a sometimes chaotic Owole is guaranteed to be a gamebreaker- even if it can be for either team sometimes. The talent is there- it's the consistency that'll determine whether he'll just be known as a mega-talented Banijan, or an out & out superstar.

3. Cyrile Resnais-Mahama

Resnais-Mahama is the tip of the spear for the new generation of Banijan players. The RBSA has long had a heavy reliance on the Elven Premiership and Q-League to find NTers- the former with an extensive youth scouting system in the country, and the latter having a huge amount of Banijan/Quebecois dual-nationals in their ranks. AWO, and Layvin Son-Saka- is Resnais-Mahama the next in a long line of Banijan/Quebecois dual-national attackers who ball out for team Banija?

He's been an absolute stud in the Q-League for a while- 30 goals in 3 straight seasons. And now, has gotten his payday, securing an 8 figure move to Tihon just days before the beginning of World Cup 99. While his debut major tournament was a disappointment, just 1 goal at the head of a fangless attack, he followed that up with an excellent club season. He was in the #9 role for TIhon as they not only made a run to the IFCF Challenger's Cup Final, but also finished in the top 4 in the Red League- meaning that, next season, they'll be in the Champions League.

For his country, despite his poor World Cup(everybody's poor World Cup, really) he balled out at the ARC, scoring 6 times at ARC V, including twice in the Final. A home World Cup to make your debut is quite a pressure cooker, and now that he's passed that, he's hoping to be a leading light for this NT going forward.

4. Kanyago Rouse-Jurrin (Mostly written by Quebec!)

Kanyago Rouse-Juruni's a street-smart behemoth, both literally and on background. Son of five from Maurice Nkrumah Juruni, a Banijan statistics student from Bolgatanga, Aksum, and Kimberley Rouse, a Songakian boxing gym owner, he grew up tough with his three brothers and a sister in east end of Songak. While her mother was a City fan, and her father CSKA, Kanyago quickly joined Mtl. Koreana academy at age 6 to avoid trouble on the streets due to his god-given height.

So far that has worked as the 6'9, 250 lb behemoth has transitioned into an all-arounded CB. Called up to senior club at age 15, Kanyago's Q-League performance, widely considered by many as 'defensively Yamal', would see him net TOTY award at age 17, and subsequently a spot with the Kadongo Kamu.

The massive, towering CB has play that has basically demanded his inclusion not only on the NT- but directly into the starting XI. He was the youngest player to ever start a World Cup match for Banija, and he might be the best defensive prospect the country has ever seen. There's a lot of pressure when you make your NT debut at the World Cup, but he's got a ridiculous amount of self-confidence to ensure that no moment will be too big for him. He locked down his spot as a starter at WC99, and despite earning a red card in the opening match of ARC V, he had himself a good tournament there as well. He's basically an anchor on the Banijan back line these days.

Outside of play, he is a flashy individual with his lineup of red, pink and lilac suits, sneakers and ties. But he, being a father of two, is also dependable individual. Kanyago has started to really his early signs of money and maturity by attending business school classes at his mother's alma mater at Songak Metropolitan.

SHIN-ZETSUBO REPRESENTATIVE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

ABOUT SHIN-ZETSUBO
Shin-Zetsubo is a anarchic ethnostate with no designated executive, legislature or judicial system. The capital, Towa City, was given its role on the nation's founding as the only city in the country, which has since expanded from only encompassing the capital to a size of about 6,200 square miles. All citizens are of a uniform height, weight and build - Female, 5 feet, 5 inches in height, 99 pounds in weight, all wearing pink twintails with two hairclips (which they are allowed to customize) and all sporting blue eyes and a slim frame. All citizens of Shin-Zetsubo are extremely focused on despair and love spreading it between each other. However, they get easily bored if they follow a routine for at most more than a couple days.
OOC: Everyone looks and acts like Junko Enoshima from Danganronpa in this nation. Think of this as "what if Junkoland actually happened".

Football in this country was a completely unknown sport. That all changed when a certain Shin-Zetsubite received a ball and a letter, and that girl was Chrystill Emoran. The letter invited her nation to field a squad for the Baptism of Fire in Southwestern Arrosia, as well as this very World Cup. Fielding a team of complete unknowns who only learned the sport from her, their... Shall we say unique playing style won them the BoF title in Canterlot. Of course, all the world is now their stage... Time to run it back and face the veterans.

STARTING XI
Chrystill Emoran's tactics and squad selection are meant to be despairful. Nobody on the team is supposedly better than any other in their general position, so she can choose players on her starting squad as she pleases. In general these are meant to be based on the "eye test" from training sessions and matches. There is also no tactical formation set in stone - Shin-Zetsubites being completely bored after a while means that these players can easily play out of the position given to them.

HOME STADIUM
Despairing Soccer Ground - Towa City (2,500 capacity)
Since sport (other than the Despairathon) was so foreign to Shin-Zetsubo, imagine their shock when they had to figure out a home ground to host their matches in World Cup qualifying! With help from those with a personality geared around building, they managed to cobble together a pitch and some stands to serve as their home base - The Despairing Soccer Ground, located juuuust inside the capital. For those who come here, be prepared for a gaggle of giggling girls goating at your goal-scoring greats.

STYLE MODIFIER
The style modifier for Shin-Zetsubo is +5, mainly owing to everyone being out of position typically by the 30th-35th minute.

The history of the Pyazhnayan national team has been marked by a few ups, a couple of downs and a lot of flatness. The fact they managed to reach the final of two consecutive CAFAs is a sign that the team has a lot of quality, but the fact that they lost both of them also signalled that there was more work to be done. After middling-at-best fortunes in the World Cup qualifiers, the appointment of Aleksandra Agratova turned out to be a catalyst with the national team qualifying for its first World Cup ever. Now, it is time to show that this was not a fluke.

Aleksandra Agratova inheritated the job from Zavrashin after the WCQ98 campaign fell apart once more. She will be continuing the flexible 4-4-2 formation and an offensive style to surprise the opposing teams.

Krasnograd Dome, Krasnograd, 62,000
In line with the at times rather rough Pyazhnayan weather, the Krasnograd Dome, home to Pervaya Liga powerhouse Torpedo Krasnograd, has a retractable roof to ensure fans and players alike are protected from the elements. It is the by far most modern stadium in the league, with a museum of Pyazhnayan football along one of the concourses. Not super high tech, but with an emphasis on comfort.

It is also known for its many culinary establishments and yes, alcohol is allowed in the stadium, Pyazhnayans would riot if that was not the case. They are, mostly, very peaceful, unless provoked.

Tactics
Formation: 4-3-3
Style Mod: +2.5
In attack, Darmen will employ one of two tactics: the first involves the team playing down the flanks while the second is a possession oriented short-range passing style that closely resembles tiki-taka. The later tactic is normally only employed against weaker opponents or when Darmen has a multi-goal lead and involves connecting many passes together to slowly advance the ball towards the opponents 18-yard box. It is not uncommon for 30+ passes to be completed in the sequence, especially against weaker opponents.

Darmen's primary tactic however is a heavy emphasis on flank play, with the wide midfielders (also referred to as flankers in Darmen) being the linchpin of Darmen's attack. Upon gaining possession, Darmen will look to distribute the ball to one of the two wide midfielders as quickly as possible. After receiving the ball, the wide midfielders will look to advance the ball as far down the flanks as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, the forwards and the central midfielders will crash the box, hoping to be on the receiving end of the wide midfielder's cross. The wide midfielder (or sometimes even the fullback) on the opposite flank will linger behind waiting to collect the cross should it overshoot the box. While scoring via headers is the primary goal, a player may also look to score by volleying or half-volleying the ball if they're in open space. Should the first attempt at goal not be collected by the goalkeeper, Darmenis are more than willing to take advantage of the ensuing chaos in the box and poach a goal as well. If the wide midfielder's path forward down the flank is blocked, they are not averse to cutting inside and taking a shot on goal themselves.

Defensively, the defenders have one job... to defend. They rarely venture out of their own half, but if they do it will only be one of the fullbacks (see above). Darmen will employ zonal marking when facing the counter-attack and man marking in all other situations.

Team Roles
Captain: Markus Thomasson
Vice-Captain: Dwayne Loritz
Left Corner: Amias Shelby
Right Corner: Kara Falkner
Penalties: Torger Woodward
Free-kicks: Dwayne Loritz

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around. However, they will not engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

Squad

Manager

Manager – Victor Adeyemo Age: 54 [FVA]

The manager who took Flavovespia to World Cup victory, his status as a Flavovespia legend has already been confirmed. However he’s made it clear that he intends to go forward to try and win it all again. A charming, jovial figure in the media and in the dugout, he also has a great tactical knowledge and game awareness. He’ll know there’s pressure on him to continue to keep Flavovespia thriving, but he seems to thrive off that pressure.

Goalkeepers

1 Peter Marriott Age: 25 Position: GK Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 67 Goals: 0
12 John Hopkins Age: 29 Position: GK Club: Waldster FC Caps: 1 Goals: 0
23 Dylan Bourguignon Age: 17 Position: GK Club: Abbots Lunsel FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0

Unsurprisingly no change for the top goalkeeper, Peter Marriott has rarely struggled for Flavovespia, and if he does, he usually bounces back. A commanding presence in the box, and a goalkeeper with a maturity beyond his 25 years of age. A confident figure between the posts. John Hopkins has worked his way up, and is now the second choice, not quite the raw talent of Peter Marriott. However, he is a domestic star, and has risen from a relatively humble start to get here. The third choice is a surprise, Dylan Bourguignon spectacularly broke into the Abbots Lunsel first team last year, and looks a future star, but many question if 17 is too young for a goalkeeper at this level.

Defenders

2 Stan Scott-Wilson Age: 30 Position: LB Club: Urrheddiao [CMT] Caps: 177 Goals: 2
3 Roger Burden Age: 28 Position: RB Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 90 Goals: 0
4 Paul Amos Age: 32 Position: CB Club: Chromatik [CMT] Caps: 82 Goals: 1
5 David Jarvis Age: 27 Position: CB Club: Sporting Club November City [CAD] Caps: 38 Goals: 0
13 Richard Storrie Age: 27 Position: LB Club: Rülândéá Kôstä [FFD] Caps: 48 Goals: 1
14 John Brocklehurst Age: 27 Position: CB Club: Waldster FC Caps: 7 Goals: 0
15 Nicholas Christie Age: 28 Position: CB Club: Katzestadt AFC [KAT] Caps: 3 Goals: 0
16 Kevin Holland Age: 23 Position: RWB Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 27 Goals: 0

No changes to the defence from CAFA Cup 12. Despite the perceived challenges in building a line up, Paul Amos alongside David Jarvis look set to be this qualifying campaigns main centre back pairing. John Brocklehurst and Nicholas Christie have their strengths, literally and metaphorically, but rawness to international football has sometimes been exposed. On the wings, Stan Scott-Wilson is equally a star at left and right back. Roger Burden is the usual starter of the others, dependable, if rarely adventuring forward. Richard Storrie is a capable option as well, and Kevin Holland can provide an injection of pace.

Midfielders

6 Anthony Lane Age: 31 Position: LAM Club: FC Capri [VAL] Caps: 100 Goals: 18
7 Christopher Hill Age: 28 Position: CM Club: Alnio [CMT] Caps: 133 Goals: 9
8 Charles Adams Age: 31 Position: CDM Club: Maethoru SC [KOR] Caps: 157 Goals: 10
11 Jonathan Bagshaw Age: 34 Position: RAM Club: Mâ Âlâmëómë [FFD] Caps: 311 Goals: 167
17 John Fletcher Age: 25 Position: CDM Club: Chromatik [CMT] Caps: 50 Goals: 2
18 Steve Moseley Age: 19 Position: CDM Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
19 Russell Robinson Age: 30 Position: CM Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 59 Goals: 2
20 David Atkinson Age: 28 Position: RM Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 21 Goals: 6

Jonathan Bagshaw is the star name, a list of accolades that’ll take some beating for any Flavovespian in the future. But at 34, the question is, can he play 90 minutes of most games. His skill on the ball is still sublime, but his pace is just that touch slower now. His experience though, invaulable. The heart of midfield is the familiar duo of Christopher Hill and Charles Adams. Experience aplenty, along with ball winning and ball playing skills. As well as John Fletcher and utility player Russell Robinson, they have young Steve Moseley as a back up. A strong, powerful central defensive midfielder, but still skilful on the ball, one to watch for Flavovespia. Out wide, Anthony Lane is the likely option, with David Atkinson a back up on both sides. Peter Langdon can also drop in as a central attacking midfielder, and use his pace well.

Forwards

9 Charles Shepherd Age: 26 Position: CF Club: Xaiv 1919 [SAT] Caps: 96 Goals: 51
10 Peter Langdon Age: 27 Position: CF Club: Mipojoseon [QUE] Caps: 106 Goals: 36
21 Daniel Emmerson Age: 18 Position: CF Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
22 Frank Johnson Age: 24 Position: CF Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 23 Goals: 6

Flavovespia bring 4 strikers to the qualifiers, despite their 4-2-3-1 formation. Charles Sheperd usually starts up top, a strong holding forward, with Peter Langdon the central attacking midfielder able to run on and in. Frank Johnson is of a similar vein to Charles Shepherd, his form patchy but he’s getting there. And Daniel Emmerson starred for Langmere Green Rovers last year, a real fox in the box able to find space to score, many are excited by him as a future prospect, even if at 18 this’ll be a big step up.

Tactics

4-2-3-1 is the standard formation of choice, however Flavovespia can to a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. The back 4 usually sit fairly deep, although the full backs can roam forward from time to time. The 2 central defensive midfielders make a ball winner/ball player combination. In attack, the lone striker acts as a false 9, this allows the 3 central attacking midifelders to become goalscoring options. However the wide midfielders can also stretch the play to create crosses.

For the first time, the colonial authorities of New Rotterdam have put together a football team ready to compete for the chance to compete for the multiverse's most coveted silverware. The Vreewijk Commons, along a tributary of the Appel river in the northern edge of North New Rotterdam, is being transformed for the advent of the World Cup. Normally a meeting place, sport field, and leisure area, the colonial government is erecting large wooden bleachers on all sides of the pitch to accommodate home and visiting fans. Visiting teams and support staff will be kept at the Three Pigeons Pub in North New Rotterdam, a charming inn with unlimited drink credits. Exact capacity of the Vreewijk Commons field is not known.
The Governor-General calls upon citizens of New Rotterdam to report any pro-British activity. Stay vigilant!

CF

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition and are unashamed of playing for draws and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

Home stadium:
For various reasons, the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association has opted to host qualifiers away from the national stadium in Ashwell. Instead, home qualifiers will be split between two other venues: the first and last two home qualifiers will be held in Cherrygrove, while the others will be staged in Auldfort.

Park der Fründens, Cherrygrove, Cheruskerland (capacity: 47,840)
Hosting: Hapilopper Overseas Territories - Dominion Anaia Maritime Neighborhood [matchday 1], Zwangzug [matchday 3], Olastor [matchday 16], Astograth [matchay 18]
Located in the middle of Prince Andreas Park in the Cherusker capital of Cherrygrove, the Park der Fründens—Saltsteadish for “Friends’ Park”—was the venue for the first game in the inaugural CAFA LigAnaia finals and is the the oldest Saltsteadish football stadium in active use outside Ashwell and home to Saltstead’s most prolific championship winning team Cherrygrove City. Noted for its distinctive light pink halls and seats, as well as the avenue of cherry trees leading up to its gates, the Park prides itself on providing a friendly, supporter-oriented experience, as well as on its setting in one of the natural wonders of Borralia. [insert grumbling about being “robbed” of the LigAnaia I decider here]

New East Gate Field, Auldfort [Auldfortstead] (capacity: 40,000)
Hosting: Hanalia [matchday 6], Chemicala [matchday 8], Vaishnavaria [matchday 11], Brusselstein [matchday 13]
Home of inaugural Gold Division champions Ōtachi Auldfort, New East Gate Field is located near the Redstrand in the Free City of Auldfort, overlooking the Marlensboħt. The “Gateway to the Sullow Sea”, Auldfort itself is a historic port city, blessed with a mild climate by Saltsteadish standards and home to one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan cultural communities in the Confederation. The stadium itself has a deliberate arboreal feel, harkening back to the original wooden stadium which burned down in the Great Fire of Auldfort, and is designed to lull visiting teams into a false sense of security. Welcome and beware.

Yeah the newspapers are boycotting this one

Manager: Itay Makamura - The only domestic manager who was willing to take on the roll. Makamura is fine and nothing special as a manager, he's bounced around various leagues and has not done anything in particular to distinguish himself. He exists and that's good enough for now.

Formation:
The usual 3-3-4

GK: Ellie Hammond - A great shot stopper who has a reputation for being a little shaky on crosses. One thing she won't have to deal with are nerves as she has been in many a big game.
D: Sirus McMillan - One of the best outside backs in the Alexandria and New Spartan league, McMillan has been waiting to get a real run with the national team and now gets it.
D: Reuven Bar Simcha - The son of happiness is a real grump for a central defender. Bar Simcha has a no nonsense reputation and is the captain of this particular outfit.
D: Hershel Heschel - The son of a rabbi, Heschel is known for his communication skills on the pitch, this mostly means he has an excessively loud voice. He's also big on the curling circuit as a skip of his own rink. They won 2 events last year!
M: Yael Tanner - Has played a lot of forward as well as midfield. Works much more forward than a traditional Milchamian mid but her speed makes up for some plays out of position.
M: Claudia Baum - A proven ball distributor. Her play in the middle has gotten her the nickname of the Quarterback for her ability to a. make the right pass and b. create enough time and space to become the center of play constantly. Has led multiple leagues in assists for the last 4 years.
M: Moriah Congrek - Once a striker but moved into midfield once it became clear she did more with her defensive responsibilities than her attacking responsibilities. Is the steel of the midfield.
F: Steven Point - Not from Wisconsin but nevertheless a skilled crosser of the ball. Point sometimes moves back to cover Tanner's runs from midfield. Their friendship is a key mark to success for this team.
F: Haim Taim - A sweet life helps this delicious forward score many life affirming goals.
F: Tamar Sessell - Sessell has had their ups and downs but has settled down into one of the best strikers for the multiple sides. Expect a good run from Sessell and some real questions about whether the step up in class to international competition is a good one.
F: Simeon Ben Yonatan - A classic Milchamian wide forward, Ben Yonatan has all the skills necessary to do what's expected of him in this formation.

Subs:
GK: Fletcher Jones - The newest Fletcher!
D: Quentin Phillips - Speedster, will do better.
D: Stephanie Sasson - The French pronunciation please.
D: Shir Mendelbaum - She sings of you!
M: Jacob Andsons - He has kids!
M: Elior Sheinbaum - First sub off the bench for the midfield.
M: Hibtip - The rare mononym.
F: Uri Daberi - He speaks!
F: Jonathan Filmanetzki - He shoots! He scores!
F: Avion Thomas - Classic center forward.
M/F: Ricky Brenner - Can play anywhere.
M/D: Wolf Zeev - Will hurt you, possibly.

Our traditional +3 and do whatever with the RP permissions, yes, seriously, don't worry about it. I'm fine, if I dislike a thing I'll probably ignore it but I'll probably think it's funny and just run with it.
Milchama Sports achievements:
World Baseball Classic 23 Champion! Arrosia Regional Championship 2 Champion!
Note: The demonym is Milchamian. There are two of the letter "I(i)" and not one.

3x CoH winner (29, 46, 50) 3x WBC winner (4,5,23), 1x World Cup host (32), 1x ARC Champion, Various other minor trophies there's a football club trophy, a kleptochase trophy, Other minor international football trophies.

After a decent showing at a home IAC, the Claws are looking forward to the World Cup. They've now managed to be solid qualification contenders, but knockout football still eludes them. With the sheer amount of teams competing for one of the 46 merit qualification spots, it's gonna be harder than ever for the Claws to push through. On the team side of things, Bohler takes the #1 spot, as multiple good seasons at Tsear FC finally pay off. Otherwise, Casfo has stuck with much the same team that did well in the IACs, and is hoping that he can finally bring Saterun to the knockout rounds of the World Cup in its 100th historic edition. As the squad continues to gel, Casfo will be hoping that he can take advantage of the experience and youthfulness that he gets with this squad. It'll be tight, but if anyone can lead Saterun to their first World Cup knockouts, it'll be Handrix Casfo.

Manager: Ingþór Auðbjörnsson, age 58

Goalkeepers
GK: Rudolf Klarić, age 35, Hellinic Rouge
GK: Óskar Aronsson, age 24, Algolia AC Image
GK: Maja Topić, age 35, Brantisvogan Image (F)
GK: Pompilio Razo Ortega, age 28, Santos Luega
GK: Kardos Szûcs, age 31, Club Stein-los

With the accountability that the manager has instilled into the team, you have to keep up your form at your club if you wish to retain your starting spot or even place within the national pool. Maja Topić is not really at fault for the way that Brantisvogan's defense and the team in front of her has performed but you would believe that her in her prime would have made a few more of those point saving saves than what she has done. That has allowed Rudolf Klarić to swoop in for the number one shirt on the back of a truly impressive domestic campaign and winning the SuperLiga title, showing good positioning and reflexes despite being the same age as Maja. Óskar Aronsson's raw shot stopping talent is hard to ignore and should the team need to switch keepers it will likely be the Algolia man off the bench or starting against teams that Thor will likely look to rotate against. Ortega and Szûcs both are coming off great domestic campaigns themselves and will be biting at the bit for an opportunity to showcase their talent and attempt to wrestle the third position from Maja that would come with a trip to the Finals, if the Wanderers manage to secure their qualification.

RB/LB: Katie Sherwin Image, age 27, Myana Image (F)
RB: Nilda Guajardo Longoria, age 26, Santos Luega (F)
RB: Keled Sebeôk, age 24, CA Paulinthal

The Spartans dominant defense in the last SuperLiga has allowed a plethora of their players to make the national pool where they had been dropped or not considered during the last cycle. While none of the four Spartans defenders are slotted to start for the Wanderers, Bosanaca at leftback and Kont Vas at centerback are expected to regularly be contributing to the team and will likely indicate that the team is set up for a lock down defense when they are on the field. Katie Sherwin has used her move to Chromatika to improve her game and combined with the other rightbacks in front of her aging out, the talented wingback has earned the starting spot on the right, though her and Joska Szöllôsy who will be starting on the left side are both more defense oriented and are not likely to be too far forward. If looking to have more thrust on the attack on the right, that's where CAP's young fullback Keled Sebeôk will likely see some playing time as he is good on the dribble, decent crossing ability, and also fairly good defending instincts. Szatmári and Hertzog on paper present a solid defensive wall who will look to win aerial battles and play out with their feet if needed. Schneider and Koury off the bench however are your traditional defenders and will boot it long rather than try to play out of trouble.

Midfielders

RW: Pista Benedek, age 31, Galatica
RW: Daniela Zagorec, age 24, CA Paulinthal (F)
RW/MC: Joska Rác, age 27, Tanrısal
A/MC: Zágon Schmid, age 31, Tanrısal
A/MC: Áron Gombos, age 33, CA Paulinthal
A/MC: Tarján Ságy, age 24, Royal Jam FC Image
D/MC: Borsala Takácz, age 31, Galatica (F)
MC: Petra Lázár, age 31, Megabrantid SC Image (F)
D/MC: Dražan Kovač, age 24, Hellinic Rouge
MC: Johanna Grunewald, age 28, Hellinic Rouge (F)
ST/LW/AMC: Mór Buday, age 27, Herzegovina City FC Image
A/ML: Dominik Szatmáry, age 24, Stein-los Turkish
LW: Alim Kaliq Bishara, age 24, Tanrısal

Historically the midfield has been the strength of the team but like a lot of the team, the pool has been getting a bit long in the tooth with few obvious replacements on the way. Asztrik Biró finally had age catch up to him and the talisman decided to hang up his boots, leading to a huge power vacuum on the left hand side. Mór Buday will look to replace the talisman but he prefers to be more an goalscoring threat than a true creator and could cause some problems if he drifts towards the center too much and takes away the width the team wants. If it does become an issue Dominik Szatmáry from Turkish is more of that traditional winger who will stay wide and attempt to get behind the line and cross it in. Zágon Schmid will look to be the playmaker in the middle when it is not being forced out wide but with his talent for finishing he plays more like a withdrawn striker than an advanced midfielder. Borsala Takácz will look to be the destroyer in the middle and gum up opposition attacks after having helped Galatica back into IFCF relevance in the SuperLiga over the last few seasons. By that same token, Pista Benedek has earned the right to start on the right for a second cycle in a row. Daniela Zagorec, Tarján Ságy, Alim Kaliq Bishara, and Dražan Kovač represent hope that the talent pool is starting to fill up again from the youth ranks but whether or not they actually see the field will be a major question during the campaign, though given Thor's comments about developing domestically it would be surprising if they do not.

Strikers

AMLC/ST: Bogdan Laszlo, age 29, Algolia AC Image
ST: Járngrímur Náttúlfsson Image, age 30, CA Paulinthal
ST: Orkény Szegedi, age 31, Galatica
AML/ST: Melinda Sultész, age 31, Avidë (F)
ST: Sahir Hana'i Wasem, age 26, Stein-los Turkish
ST: Christian Meister, age 27, Hellinic Rouge
ST: Csenger Orbán, age 31, CA Paulinthal

Járngrímur continues to be the tip of the spear and the Wanderers have to be counting their lucky stars that such a talented player fell into their lap. Graintfjall's collapse allowed this remarkable striker to file a nationality switch and four straight seasons of dominating the SuperLiga has showcase his clinical finishing and superb attacking abilities, as well as having a clutch factor that should prove resourceful. Partnering will be Laszlo who is far less consistent than his partner but has quite the high ceiling and when on form is a deadly striker in his own right, having honed his craft in both Audioslavia and Squornshelous. The first option off the bench if it is needed will be Orkény Szegedi, who was a bit of late bloomer but back to back seasons being among the top scorers in the SuperLiga has earned him that right. A pure goal scorer, he know where to be and how to make the most of his opportunities when he gets there. The other options are not likely to see the field much but Melinda Sultész' versatility might just have her with the edge as the most likely to see significant playing time among the other four options in the pool currently.

Tactics
Image
Bringing back the four four two, even if the midfield roles were shaken up a little has brought the Wanderers back into a sense of familiarity and comfort that has allowed the team to progress forward towards turning the team back around to contenders. The more defensive midfielder will be responsible for screening the backline and providing passing options for both the attack and defense. Playmaking duties will fall squarely on the number eight who will have two striking options playing off the shoulders of the backline or attacking wingers to build an attack with. The wingers are not expected to be experts in marking and tackling but they are expected to track back and provide support in at least terms of bodies and numbers, which means they are going to be endurance based players with the amount of running they are going to do. The same will be true of the fullbacks, who will need to be competent enough on the ball to make overlapping and underlapping runs in the attacking third when the team has prolonged bouts of possession.

Captain: Zétény Szatmári
Corner Taker: Asztrik Biró
Set Pieces: Zágon Schmid
Penalties: Járngrímur

The Osnari Federation National Football Team
The Eagles
Record [W-D-L]: 17-15-10

From the Outback for their second attempt at the World Cup are the Eagles of the Osnari Federation. Managed by former Grunenwald FC gaffer Nathan Held, this is a group that may be relatively new to international football, but certainly is not new to the game. Drawn from the best players on the best teams across the Federation, the Eagles proved their mettle with a gold medal at the 86th Baptism of Fire and a fifth-place finish in qualifying for World Cup 99. Their more recent performances, however, have been less than stellar, crashing out of the Cup of Harmony Group Stage with three points and zero wins, and doing the same in the Independent Associations Championship with a single win and three losses. The Federation Shield, hosted on the Eagles’ home turf, did not go as planned.

This is a team that plays aggressively. With most of the skill concentrated on the front end with the Osnari Eliteliga’s two best players in Jost Blum and Gido Mullis, this is a squad you should expect a lot of goals from. The midfield, however, is not to be ignored. In past tournaments, it has depended on young talent to win and keep possession; now youngsters like Liam Homberger and Raik Nagel have tons of caps and plenty of experience. The defense, although experienced, is a bit thin. The starters are all experienced yet not too old, but in case of injury, the depth is just not there, a concerning development for future years, but not so much in this edition of Qualifying. There is, however, a gem at the back in Hias Schefer, a rising star in Osnari football and a likely future legend of the team. His presence is needed and his experience now trusted, though it occasionally came into doubt in the Baptism of Fire and World Cup Qualifiers the last time around.

The country has high expectations for Qualifying. As previously mentioned, the Eagles have not performed well in recent major tournaments, with the team recording just two wins and four draws in its last fifteen matches against competition that was not particularly good, including winning just one match of four on home soil in the Federation Shield. Fans and OFA leadership alike are beginning to raise concerns about the management of Nathan Held, who has held (ha) onto the job only on the strength of the Eagles’ WC99 Qualifying performance and stands to lose it if things go south early in this edition.

The Eliteliga, as referenced, is the Osnari Federation’s domestic league, which recently played its 77th season here.

Formation: 3-1-3-3
Manager: Nathan Held
Style Modifier: +5

Forwards
Expected Starters: LW Schmid / ST Blum / RW Mullis
The Osnari forwards operate with speed and finesse on the outside provided by Mullis and Schmid, with wingers who can both cross and score in their own right. The striker, typically, is a tall, strong target man - convenient with Blum, who is a freak athlete.

ST Jost Blum / Old Bremningen / 29
40 Caps / 26 Goals
A tall, imposing pure goalscorer, Blum thrives on outfighting the opposition’s back line with his size, strength, and incredible ability to find the net. His goalscoring was the difference on several occasions in the Eagles’ golden BoF campaign, and he’s won several domestic awards, as well as being the highest-scoring and tied for the most-capped player in Eagles history.

RW Gido Mullis / Kinzacher Ellmann / 26 / Captain
40 Caps / 15 Goals
Widely considered the best Osnari football player, Gido Mullis is elite on the wing. Though small in stature, he makes up for it with explosiveness in all facets of his game. His speed, his shot, his first step are all elite. Add very good ball skills and great football IQ into the fold, and you have a very dangerous, threatening winger in his own right, who can create goals as soon as score them himself. These abilities won him a Golden Ball and Boot in the 2025 Eliteliga season. As the primary choice for captain, he’s shown an unexpected maturity beyond his age and is developing into a great leader.

LW Gioele Schmid / Kinzacher Ellmann / 26
3 Caps / 2 Goals
Schmid has spent a long time backing up Conz Still, and given his contributions to a second straight Eliteliga title for Ellmann as one of the club’s top contributors, he’s expected to earn a starting role. Schmid plays a similar role to Mullis, quick with a deadly shot and eye for the pass as well. The two should be able to terrorize many of these international back lines.

LW Conz Still / Old Bremningen / 31
38 Caps / 9 Goals
Still is a pure playmaker, a selfless player who promotes all those around him. He’s not to be ignored, though - he can still score a fair few goals given too much space. His selflessness, experience, and willingness to sacrifice for the team’s benefit earned him a spot on this roster, but he’s lost a step in recent years, just enough for Schmid to take over. Don’t dismiss him, though; Still remains a great player and a dangerous replacement.

LW Wenert Bitzius / Centre Catala de Kynetbo [Bonusia] / 23
2 Caps / 1 Goal
Wenert Bitzius is already one of the best forwards in the country, but the depth chart at left wing remains pretty full. He may find a niche in late, critical-situation substitutions looking for a goal as a fourth forward, and his skill has earned him a transfer abroad. Bitzius most often fills the role of goalscorer with an impressive shot, but his distribution skills are quite good as well; he may be an elite AM later in his career.

RW Levin Allemann / Old Bremningen / 28
1 Cap / 1 Goal
Allemann is a really solid winger for Bremningen. He likely won’t see too much of the field, but expect to see flashes of impressive talent as a distributor when he does. He’s a good mold of the Bremningen winger, a better assister than goalscorer.

ST Gido Zbinden / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 26
1 Cap / 1 Goal
Zbinden is a standard target man in the Osnari mold. Big, muscular, and capable of beating out defenders for crosses and lofted balls, Zbinden is used to playing solo in the Lockeweiler system, something that may well help him once he appears regularly for the Eagles.

ST Finn Reiff / AC Rohl / 22
1 Cap
Reiff is a quick striker who enjoys playing a little lower than standard for Osnari strikers. He’s another potential choice for a fourth attacker, with speed and technique that could make up for his lack of experience in desperation situations.

RW Korbin Keller / AC Rohl / 20
1 Cap
Keller is quite a youthful winger and the youngest player on the squad. He’s here to gain experience and further his development, and figures to become quite the player down the line. Keller is more of a goalscorer than most Osnari wingers, drifting inside and firing dangerous shots off a strong left foot.

Midfielders
Expected Starters: LM Kobel / CM Homberger / RM Werren | DM Nagel
The Osnari midfield operates more as a diamond, with Homberger playing particularly aggressive and Werren pushing up on the right as well, anchored by Nagel who is often forced to cover for the other two. It often works out, though; the Osnari offense tends to be quite potent in no small part thanks to the attacking prowess of those two.

RM Werner Werren / Internacional Binar [Zenic] / 30
38 Caps / 6 Goals
Moving to right midfield midway through the Baptism of Fire, Werren was a hugely important piece to the win in that tournament. Now playing in Zenic, Werren is beginning to get a bit old, but remains absolutely dangerous down the right side and can give Gido Mullis space to move inside and stack the box.

LM Jules Kobel / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 28
38 Caps / 1 Goal
The elite left midfielder for Lockeweiler won a Golden Arrow as the Eliteliga’s best midfielder two years ago. He’s aggressive and pacy, good with the ball and a reliable distributor as well. Perhaps his most important skill is his intelligence; Kobel has a very high football IQ, and his impressive assists total shows it.

DM Raik Nagel / Old Bremningen / 21
30 Caps / 0 Goals
An important piece for Bremningen’s midfield, Nagel is a physical, imposing player who focuses on destroying opposing attacks and keeping possession. Introduced in the last two matches of the Baptism of Fire run, Nagel has proven himself since as a great stabilizing force for the Osnari defense and, when not countered correctly, a great player to play through to begin attacks.

CM Liam Homberger / De Vursen FK [Solgavden] / 21
30 Caps / 5 Goals
Widely considered the best youth talent on the Osnari squad, Homberger leads a very strong group of young midfielders. He’s played admirably for his age, putting together a very strong showing and boosting the Osnari offense, contributing and scoring in big matches - including notching a goal against then-world #1s Flavovespia.

RM Rafael von Tobel / Kinzacher Ellmann / 21
1 Cap
The backbone of Ellmann’s offense is an inexperienced 21-year-old, but Rafael von Tobel already has two Eliteliga titles under his belt. Von Tobel is a pure distributor, and will be right at home doing so in an elite offense, just like back in Kinzach.

DM Fabio Koch / Kinzacher Ellmann / 31
5 Caps / 0 Goals
A good part of Ellmann’s continuous success is their strong midfield, of which Koch is likely the strongest part. Koch prefers to play back and advance the play, though, and may have a hard job covering the back with two aggressive midfielders to his right. He hasn’t started since a red card against Thaeloria on matchday two of the Baptism of Fire, as the team has pivoted to a different outlook in midfield, but he remains ready to roll given the chance.

CM Noah Winkler / Wolfsberg FC / 21
1 Cap
A great all-round midfielder who is unlucky to sit behind Homberger, but offers a less aggressive approach should that be needed in midfield. Winkler is a good contributor to a rapidly improving Wolfsberg squad, and may well find himself getting starts soon.

LM Niklaus Stahli / FC Kaiserhaven [Siovanija & Teusland] / 21
Another aggressive LM who could even make the jump forward to left wing, Stahli has the capacity for incredible individual efforts and great playmaking, and is not bad in defense either.

Defenders
Expected Starters: LB Abegg / CB Osterwalder / RB Hugentobler
Osnari defenders are expected to be big, physical, but not necessarily aggressive with the ball. They are expected to hang back and allow the copious amount of attackers to handle the goalscoring, positioning themselves best for defense.

RB Joder Hugentobler / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 27
38 Caps / 3 Goals
Hugentobler is a rock-solid right back with a lot of pace and agility and a tendency to press up and support. He’s pretty smart about it, but his teammates will have to cover that move well lest it lead to a break.

CB Raphael Osterwalder / Vennesberg United [Solgavden] / 22
32 Caps / 0 Goals
Osterwalder is a two-time Eliteliga titlewinner for an Ellmann defense that is nearly always under fire. As a result, he’s gone through a trial by fire and come out the other end as one of the more respected youngsters in the Federation. Osterwalder is a big, athletic, physical center back who’s not afraid to get a bit frisky. He was pulled out of the Baptism of Fire but has since regained the trust of Nathan Held and become a regular starter for the Eagles.

LB Jvars Abegg / Old Bremningen / 27
38 Caps / 0 Goals
Abegg is a more defensive left back for Bremningen who treats his area like his domain; enter at your own risk. Aggressive and hard-tackling like the rest of this back line; received a Silver Wall as the Eliteliga’s second-best defender.

CB Atreju Lau / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 32
38 Caps / 0 Goals
Lau is another imposing Osnari center back for one of the Eliteliga’s best defenses. Again; tall, physical, and just a little bit dangerous. He talks a good game, too.

LB Jost Irmiger / Tollerberg FC / 21
Uncapped
Irmiger trained alongside the Eliteliga’s best defender in Finn Hess, now retired, and for Tollerberg FC, a club whose legacy of elite defense is legendary. Irmiger will look to defend that legacy over his career as a strong, defensive-minded left back. There’s a good debate to be had about whether he should be starting over Abegg, and as he develops he is likely to see more and more chances. However, as for right now, he is unjustifiably uncapped.

CB Florus Biefer / Tollerberg FC / 34
5 Caps / 0 Goals
Yet another experienced back, Biefer is the backbone of Bremningen’s defense. He’s got quite a powerful leg on him, and is maybe a bit short for a center back, but he makes up for it with his physicality and a little bit of dark arts activity when the refs can’t see. He subbed in for Osterwalder when experience was called for in the Baptism of Fire, and played quite solid before Held shifted the tactics around and Biefer returned to the bench for the quarterfinals.

LB Kaleb Krier / Nordhorn FC / 31
Uncapped
A bit of a surprise name for this roster late in his career, Krier has been a huge player for Nordhorn FC and thus earned his first call-up for the national squad. Imposing and aggressive, with great pace and stamina, he is nevertheless lacking in some technical characteristics but remains very, very good should he find himself in the starting eleven.

Keepers
Expected Starter: GK Schefer

GK Hias Schefer / Wolfsberg FC / 22
33 Caps / 10 Clean Sheets
Boy oh boy, where do I start. Hias Schefer was clearly the league’s best keeper at only 21, winner of the Golden Glove and the Golden Cap. He’ll likely start all the way through the tournament. The crazy thing is, this kid has places to improve, and looks to become a real star for the national team for the next decade. With two other great keepers to learn from on the squad, Schefer has one hell of a high ceiling.

GK Loris Rosli / AC Rohl / 31
4 Caps / 2 Clean Sheets
Rosli is a more aggressive type who likes playing the ball and playing up when possible. It leaves him open to mistakes but also shuts down some surprising plays; it obviously works, as he received an Eliteliga Silver Glove in 2025.

GK Rayan Hunger / Old Bremningen / 29
Uncapped
Hunger has been a very solid, conservative keeper for Old Bremningen, contributing to a very solid defense for the club and a call-up to the national team. He’s no Schefer, but is notably consistent and solid in goal.

Home Stadium: The Osnarstadion (60,000), Suris
The Osnarstadion is the biggest and most prestigious stadium in the Osnari Federation, home to Old Bremningen. With tall walls of old stone in the center of Suris, the Osnarstadion looks almost like a Colosseum of sorts. Ideas have been floated around about potentially building a new national stadium to replace the Osnarstadion, giving a brand-new, neutral environment for domestic finals and national team matches. But for now, the Osnarstadion will do with renovations and history.

Suris is the capital city of the Osnari Federation. An eclectic mix of incredibly historic buildings and modern architecture where historic buildings used to be, the city is quite the hotspot for tourists and those curious about the Federation’s history. Subject to somewhat haphazard planning, traffic can be a drag and public transportation is not the greatest; any visitors should budget plenty of margin for error in their travels.

After a disappointing loss to Saterun to close out their IAC 24 campaign, the coaching staff at Solgavish National Team were back to the drawing board. It was suggested by newly hired set pieces coach Nasir Bexell to change the formation into a 3-4-3 to help play into the team's major strengths, which was offense and controlling possession. Manager Peter Strömberg originally pushed back against the idea, after all, throughout his career as both a player and a manger, he was accustomed to the 4-4-2, and Solgavden achieved some of it's biggest upsets using the formation. But after further convincing from the rest of his coaching staff, Strömberg relented, and the National Team trained with the formation in the lead up to the next World Cup cycle. In terms of the squad, the biggest change was that Sig Halvorsan, Kristian Tennefjord, and Hannes Ossler, certainly the three best strikers in the Kongensliga, were now joined on the same team in what will surely be a dynamic strike partnership.

Team Management
Manager: Peter Strömberg - 68
Assistant Manager: Anders Lyngstad - 44
Offensive Coach: Charlotte Erlandsan - 49
Defensive & Goalkeeper Coach: Paul Ravn - 54
Set Pieces Coach: Nasir Bexell - 47

Starters:
GK: #1 Gunnvaldr "Gunny" Kristoffersan - 35 - Rega Lysborg
Gunny Kristoffersan is a veteran goalkeeper for De Rega Röda, having been the team's starter for over a decade. Gunny is a fan-favorite, and has earned the nickname "The Flying Viking" due to his acrobatic saves and long blond hair. With his years of experience, he is unlikely to make naive mistakes, making him a hard goalkeeper to beat. Kristoffersan is a smart playmaker, often directing defensive players on how to position themselves. Kristoffersan knows that he is getting older, and has made peace with the fact that this will likely be his last cycle with the Solgavish National Team, and thus wants to make every minute count.

CB: #17 Johan Lind - 24 - Ademarn Lockeweiler (ONR Image)
Lind is the younger brother of hockey star Rune Lind, and has had trouble stepping out of his brother's shadow. However, he has proven himself to be a capable defender, being a key part of Torkola Village's meteoric rise from near relegation to league contenders over the past few years. Yet after lackluster results, Lind has sought out to succeed outside the country and signed with Osnari club Ademarn Lockeweiler. Lind is known for his athleticism, size, and kind nature, often being described as a "gentle giant".

CB: #3 Kennet Roenfeldt - 27 - Vennesberg United
Roenfeldt started his journey as a kid at Vennesberg United’s academy, which is known to produce excellent defensive talent. Now Roenfeldt is undoubtedly Solgavden's best defender, winning the award for best Kongensliga defensive player two years in a row. He is known for his speed, and his explosive ability to clear the ball and make plays. He commands Solgavden’s back line like a general, and is a constant threat to opposing strikers.

CB: #28 Rikard Björkstrand - 30 - Walsbruck FK
Björkstrand is a veteran presence that is definitely needed for De Rega Röda's backline. He has performed consistently in the Kongensliga for years, winning the league title and King Halfdan IV Cup multiple times for clubs such as Rega Lysborg and De Vursen FK. He recently won the Kongensliga title as a crucial part of Walsbruck FK’s defense, and wishes to continue his success internationally.

LM: #7 Rohit Mishra - 25 - Rega Lysborg
Known for his speed and dribbling ability, Mishra is a difficult player to tackle, often leaving defenders in the dust. A second generation immigrant himself, Mishra pushes himself daily to make his family back home and the nation he represents proud. Mishra has been a star for the national team during the recent World Cup cycle, proving himself to be a consistent goalscorer. If he continues this pace, Mishra could easily be one of the team's top offensive threats.

CM: #26 Leo Stenberg - 19 - Littleport AFC (KAT Image)
Stenberg is one of the newer faces in Solgavish football, and he already has made a big impact. Through his effectiveness both at the club level in Relv Sisse and internationally in the youth teams, he has gained a spot on the senior team. He is a dynamic playmaker, with the way he can orchestrate the midfield causing some to compare him to a maestro. Stenberg has leadership skills that make him wise beyond his years, and being paired with Soren Danielsan should only make him tactically smarter.

CM: #8 Soren Danielsan - 30 - Walsbruck FK
Danielsan is a very accurate passer, with the skill to give a striker a perfectly placed ball on a cross. As such, Danielsan has been the Kongensliga leader in assists for the past three seasons in a row, a feat that has only been done by one other player in Kongensliga history, current manager Peter Strömberg. Danielsan is also the first openly gay player in the Kongensliga, and was immediately celebrated by the nation. This, mixed with his kind and modest nature, has made him one of the most popular players in the country. He is also a loyal vice-captain and team player, often donning an armband himself when Halvorsan isn't playing, or during pride-themed games.

RM: #15 Aki Hagen - 28 - Limmiera FC
Hagen is a fan favorite in Limmiera due to his level-headed style of play, rarely letting his nerves get to him. This made him especially effective at set-pieces, bringing his team victory when the lights shine brightest. Hagen is also an efficient goal scorer, with an instinctive finish. Hagen is a favorite of Chancellor Nicklas Sondergaard, who occasionally wears his jersey at parliament after a big victory.

LS: #23 Hannes Ossler - 24 - Rega Lysborg
Hannes Ossler is one of the most prominent strikers in the Kongensliga, leading Rega Lysborg in goals during the last season. Ossler rose through the youth system at the historic club, and has already established himself as a fan favorite. Ossler has especially come into form during the past season, leading Rega Lysborg in goals in their victorious King Halfdan IV Cup run, and being named to the Kongensliga Team of the Year.

CF: #11 Kristian Tennefjord - 22 - Relv Sisse
Tennefjord is the new young star in the Kongensliga, being the best player on Relv Sisse’s potent offense, and the current Kongensliga Golden Boot holder with 35 goals last season. A constant threat to opposing defenses, Tennefjord is both quick and accurate on his shots, which proves to be a deadly combination. In his last competitive international match, he scored a hat trick against Edsmontik’s U21s, and he hopes to continue this red hot form into World Cup Qualifiers.

RS: #9 Sigmund "Sig" Halvorsan [C] - 37 - De Vursen FK
The face of Solgavish sports for about two decades, Halvorsan is arguably the greatest footballer in Solgavish history, although some still make the case that Harald Kistner is the best. Halvorsan has won nearly everything on the domestic side of the sport, including winning the Kongensliga title and KH4 Cup with De Vursen. Now he strives to succeed internationally, and to bring success to Solgavden. Standing at an imposing 6' 4", Halvorsan is a physical player with a powerful shot that is difficult to stop. Although he had a falling out with manager Peter Strömberg during his early days at Rega Lysborg, the two still work well together, with Strömberg playing to Halvorsan's strengths, and Halvorsan being the manager's voice to the team. Despite his age, Halvorsan is still an effective player, leading the team in goals during the previous World Cup cycle.
