World Cup 100 | Roster thread

Postby The Kytler Peninsulae » Fri Oct 17, 2025 7:31 pm

Welcome to history.
Welcome to the centennial NationStates World Cup!

This is the roster thread - in which participants will list the players who will be representing them at this historic tournament.
Note that your rank will automatically be treated as 0, even if it isn't, unless and until you post a roster!
Also, do not reserve posts in this thread.

What should I put here?
To start, the players in your squad - probably including the starting 11 players (one goalkeeper, ten others) along with substitutes/reserves and the positions they play. A good example of a simple clear roster is Sarzonia's in WC99.

You can add as few or as many further details about individual players, the team, the nation... as you want. A good example of a more detailed roster post is The Osnari Federation's in WC99.

It is worth noting here that your players don't have to be human, or any particular gender, or... put it this way, they can be anything you like. In NS Sports, none of it makes a difference; all that matters is the "three Rs" of rank, roleplay, and randomness. The last World Cup in West Pavola had a group stage match between sentient garden gnomes and a literal pub team...

You can - and many do - also add images of some sort to your roster (or any RPs). As an administrative note, you will likely want to avoid using Imgur as a host; they have blocked access to their site from the UK, and many NS users - including one of the WC100 hosts - are British. And on the subject of images...

IMPORTANT NOTE: Policy on machine-generated (“AI”) content
Roleplays with significant machine-generated text intended to substitute for human-generated text will receive no bonus, and repeat offenders may be subject to the loss of their entire rank (both bonus and preexisting rank) or expulsion from the competition. Note that the user behind Tikariot has professional experience editing machine-generated text to make it less generic, and as such is particularly adept at spotting its use.

Machine-generated translations of text written in a language other than English are acceptable if the original-language text is also provided (as illustrated here). Machine-generated non-text content (including but not limited to images) is acceptable if clear attribution is provided (as illustrated here).

A roster post is also the place to post your style modifier, which can be any number between -5 and +5 inclusive; this determines how attacking or otherwise your team is, with positive style mods representing an attacking style (causing more goals to be scored and conceded) and negative style mods a defensive one (with fewer goals scored and conceded). Teams without a stated style modifier will get a neutral 0 assigned to them. It is strongly encouraged to make style modifiers clearly visible in your roster post, so that the hosts don't miss it. It is also important to note this does not affect your probability of winning, nor the margin of any wins or losses, and goals scored is not a tiebreaker; therefore, this is purely an aesthetic preference with no 'metagaming' element.
Nerdy aside: The LISA scorinator used in this World Cup determines the winner and margin solely using rank, and then decides on a number of goals to be added to both teams; each point of style mod adds (or subtracts) 0.064 from the mean (and variance) of this value, so you can think of one point of style mod as being worth 0.064xG to each team.

Finally, you will want to include RP permissions. In the World Cup (and other NS international sporting events), anyone can RP the match regardless of who (if anyone) wins; RP permissions detail what other teams can or can't do when they RP your matches first.
Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes/No
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No

In this context, "godmod" approximately means "have unrealistic things happen," though the line between "realistic" and "godmodding" is fuzzy and not everyone agrees where it is. Some nations really enjoy the chaotic potential of godmodding and others really don't, so check those permissions carefully!

The Tristan de Cunha National Football Team

History: Football has been played informally on Tristan de Cunha since at least the 1870s. The first organized matches on the island were organized on economic lines as a contest between the boatsmen, fishermen, and whalers who worked offshore and the prominent townsfolk of Lambert's Town, being played each on or around Boxing Day each year. By the 1920s, an informal league had formed, with four amateur teams representing the four major industries: the Sailors, Lobstermen, Brewers, and Fielders. Matches were played in a single or double round-robin format over the summer period, and in 1927 the first championship match, played between the two most successful teams, occurred on the day before St. Patrick's Day. This established a traditional Tristanian Football season, running between mid-November and 16-March with the championship match scheduled for just before St. Patrick's Day. Full record-keeping, including individual player stats, began to be implemented in 1927, but only in 1928 did the Tristanian government agree to provide a small stipend to amateur players and thus raise the league to a semi-professional status. At the same time, state fund were set aside to support a publicly funded Tristan de Cunha Sporting Association, becoming the de-jure football authority within Tristan de Cunha. Between 1946-1957 two new teams, the Teamsters and the Guardians, were formed, establishing the Tristan de Cunha Football league in its modern 6-team form. Between 1961-63, volcanic eruption prompted an evacuation of the island, leading to many residents living for over two years in the UK. When these residents returned, they brought an invigorated passion for the sport with them, spurred on by access to live and televised matches and English football culture while abroad. In 1965, as part of the rebuilding and development of the island, a football pitch was cleared and leveled just south of the agricultural fields known as the Potato Patches. This "Potato Patch Field" would be used by Tristanian footballers until its expansion and revitalization in 1994-95.

The idea of fielding an international football team was first bandied about during this same period, but was deemed too expensive and difficult. It was not until the Tristan de Cunha Sporting Association met with representatives from the NSWC Coordinating Committee in 2019, that a decision was made to raise a team to represent Tristan de Cunha in NSWC Qualifications. However, the global pandemic and resultant economic downturn delayed these plans, and funding for the team was not secured until 2024 through donations from the NSWC Development Fund, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and Lambert International Banking. The Baptism of Fire 87 and NSWC 100 Qualifications will represent the very first efforts of the Tristan de Cunha International Football Team on the world stage.

In the Baptism of Fire 87, the Potato-Fielders acquitted themselves well, advancing to the Round of 32 before being knocked out by Shin-Zetsubo. They hope to continue to play well and represent their island home in the coming World Cup 100 Qualification cycle.

Due to financial and logistical constraints, it was decided that the Tristanian National Team would be limited to just 17 total players - 11 starting players and 6 substitutes. The team has been chosen from among the most skilled players of each of Tristan de Cunha's six semi-professional football clubs. It is headed by manager Adam Joseph Lambert-Grant, a government bureaucrat from the Ministry of Commerce and avid football enthusiast. Coaching is provided by Michael O'Toole, the coach/manager of the successful Fielders F.C., supplemented by his some-time rival Benjamin Bácaeir, coach of Teamsters F.C. On the field, the team is led by captain Oliver Michael Green, also of Fielders F.C. All players are Tristanian natives, and play for the domestic Tristanian semi-pro clubs.

Nicknames: The Potato-Fielders - A humble name referring back to the pre-1995 Potato Patch Field, the first football pitch on the island and home of all domestic matches prior to the 1994-95 renovation.

Stadiums

OOC: Stadium assignments are below. If I got the schedule wrong, go by the opponent not the matchday. I will fix this via edit if necessary.

MD2 vs New Rotterdam City

Stadium: Happy Valley Stadium
Stadium Location: Republic College, Rensylvania
Stadium Capacity: 110,823

Happy Valley Stadium is the home of the Ren Rep Pocahontas Panthers college football team, who are the reigning RCAA Football Bowl Division National Champions, and is located on the Ren Rep University campus. The stadium seats 110,823 and is known for its rowdy atmosphere. Ren Rep is known as the school where former Republican National Football Team coach Jak Hamilton coached well into his 80s and is also known as one of the 5 rowdiest partying schools in the Free Republics. Republic College was almost totally unaffected by the chaos due to its remote location in the middle of rural Rensylvania. Because of this, the university is thriving like never before and is now known for its dominance in both sports and academics. It is virtually impossible for visiting fans to attend events here due to the lack of an airport in Republic College, the lack of hotels in the area and the highways which are not built to handle tens of thousands of cars. Ren Rep is a massive university with an enrollment of over 100,000 students. Rensylvania is located in the eastern portion of the Free Republics.

The match at Happy Valley Stadium will be a Black Out. This means all fans will be dressed in black from head to toe. Any fans not suitably attired will be turned away at the gates and their tickets reassigned to Ren Rep students.

MD4 vs Juvencus

Stadium: Samuel Izmailov Memorial Stadium
Stadium Location: New City, Orlandiana
Stadium Capacity: 151,732

Formerly known as CoCoCo Stadium, this stadium hosted the final of World Cup 81. It was renamed in honor of the late Consul Samuel Izmailov who died at the hands of an assassin's bullet 14 years ago, sending the Federation into chaos. New City is widely believed to be the most populous city in the Free Republics. Orlandiana is a mid-northern Republic.

MD6 vs Yangchenia

Stadium: Olympic Stadium
Stadium Location: Baseton, Amolotopia
Stadium Capacity: 107,432

This retractable roof stadium hosted the ceremonies for the X Winter Olympics. It was damaged during the chaos but was fully restored by the Grand Immortal Imperator. Amolotopia is toward the northern part of the Free Republics.

MD9 vs Jeruselem

Stadium: The Big House
Stadium Location: Han Harbor, Yorkoba
Stadium Capacity: 116,623

The Big House, located just off the campus of the University of Yorkoba in Han Harbor, Yorkoba, is a massive college football stadium that seats 116,623 and is the home of the University of Yorkoba Coyotes. Yorkoba is a northern Republic.

MD10 vs Lisander

Stadium: Soccer Palace
Stadium Location: Petrograd, Plymouth
Stadium Capacity: 184,372

The Soccer Palace is a truly massive stadium, which was expanded by the Grand Immortal Imperator. Petrograd is the center of the oil industry in the Free Republics. The Republic of Plymouth is located toward the south-western portion of the country.

MD12 vs Macbon

Stadium: Googolplex
Stadium Location: Geeattle, Torapa
Stadium Capacity: 109,371

The Googolplex is a massive retractable roof stadium located in Geeattle, Torapa that seats 109,371. The stadium is sponsored by the search engine Googol. It is a gigantic stadium with standing room for an additional hundred thousand fans and a full shopping mall inside the venue. The Googolplex also includes a maze of underground tunnels, some of which lead directly to the local Googol campus. Geeattle is known for receiving significantly more rain compared to most other cities in the Free Republics. Torapa is a north-western Republic.

MD14 vs Sernet

Stadium: Olden Stadium
Stadium Location: Falkamore, Nejax
Stadium Capacity: 92.681

Olden Stadium is located in Falkamore, Nejax. Olden Stadium is named after the Olden Automobile Company, one of the leading automobile manufacturing companies in the Free Republics. Olden is famous for making SUVs and pick-up trucks. Nejax is a southern Republic that has obtained international notoriety in the past. It is said, with good reason, that you Don't Mess with Nejax because bad things tend to happen to those who do.

MD16 vs Yuezhou

Stadium: Imperator Stadium
Stadium Location: Republica, Republica District
Stadium Capacity: 101,208

Formerly known as the Gem of the Oceans Stadium, this stadium hosted the ceremonies for the Games of the XIII Olympiad. It was renamed in honor of the Grand Immortal Imperator who ended the years of chaos and restored the Federation Constitution. Republica is located near the center of the Free Republics, but is slightly north of the true center.

Notes

Republican National Soccer Team, LLC makes its long-awaited return to the World Cup for the first time in 15 years with an all-star team comprised of students from the prestigious Barjavel Academy in Republica. Barjavel Academy is a boarding school whose mission is to educate the future elite of the Federation of Free Republics. These players and cheerleaders were hand-picked from around the Federation for their potential on the soccer field and for their leadership potential off of it. With Soccer General Rule Theriault now retired, the manager job now falls to longtime assistant Senator Koby Theodore who was a star player on the first generation Republican National Team and a critical contributor to their teams that finished 2nd at World Cup 68 and 3rd at World Cup 71. His assistant managers Love Holm and Archie White were star players from the second generation Republican National Team that won World Cup 85. The cheerleading squad, a long time Republican soccer tradition dating to World Cup 68, is coached by Summer White and Chloe Holm, both former Republican cheerleaders and wives of the assistant managers.

The Republicans will once again play their classic 3-1-2-1-3 diamond formation and their traditional tactics. This includes a commitment to winning by any means necessary, clean or dirty. If they think it will give them a competitive advantage, Republican players will do absolutely anything. Up to and including scoring an intentional own goal to get their preferred opponent in a knockout round. To assist in this, the use of VAR or any other form of instant replay by match officials is a criminal offense within the Free Republics. Any official who uses such technology to the detriment of the Free Republics will be arrested on the spot after the match. If they violate this law to the advantage of the Free Republics, it will be ignored by the authorities. The cheerleaders are also willing to do anything they can to assist their team such as distracting opposing players. But they will only fraternize with/date Republican players unless specifically approved by me. Assume that it will be very difficult for visiting team fans to get tickets in the Free Republics, especially so if the match is a Black Out at Ren Rep.

Both previous generations of the Republican National Soccer Team also started as youth teams but gradually developed into world-class teams as their young players hit their respective primes. The starting lineup listed above is the "best" starting lineup but the actual starting lineup will be rotated from match to match as Theodore wishes to keep his young team fresh and get everybody some match experience at the international level.

More details about the nature of the new Federation of Free Republics will be revealed in my RPs over the course of this tournament.

OFFICIAL TEAM ROSTER
WORLD CUP 100

MEMBER ASSOCIATION: Voetbal Vereniging Kanzlia (VVK)
NICKNAME: Prowlers
REGION: Esportiva
TRIGRAMME: KNZ
MODIFIER: +2.8

Kanzlia, formally recognised as Gracious Kanzlian State, is an island ceremonial kingdom on the far north of Esportiva. The country is divided into 10 provinces. Its main island, Kalta, consists of nearly 85% of the country's population whilst the smaller islands of Serentia and Kureii makes up the rest. The seat of power in Kanzlia lies on its southernmost and largest port city of Szbedansk. It’s followed by the cities of Kotr, Mistralis, and Ibsia. The country is well known for the cold.

The Kanzlian Football Association (Also known as Voetbal Vereniging Kanzlia) was founded in 1900 but Kanzlian Football, in its current pyramid, was only finalised in the 1990s. Prior to this, a double league system was utilised. Anyhow, football is by far the most popular sport in Kanzlia with stadiums jam-packed full in every match of the season. Kanzlia with its history of hardships and prolonged periods of misery has resulted in a deep connection between the sport and Kanzlian society. The culture of the sport is one of fiery passion but also with a noticeable aspect of humbleness. A pundit said that Kanzlians are the sorest of losers during the 90 minutes, but once the game ends they switch back to normal often with an optimistic mood regardless of the result.

Kanzlia plays its official games in the Stadia Szbedansk, a relatively modern 53,280 seater stadium.

World Cup 100 Roster
Style Modifier: -5

Nicknamed the Bulls, Audioslavia's national football team are renowned for being 'scrappy' and 'ugly' and 'downright cheats'. Here is a brief guide to the current team, and how to interact with them.

Henchmen
The guys there to be made to look silly by your star players and goalscorers.

Goalkeeper
The guy leaping through the air, flailing forlornly at the ball as it evades his grasp
Hein Hélder (34, GK, Cazadores Cathair) has always been a good shot-stopper. It was expected that, with age, he’d learn to position himself as well, but that hasn’t been the case. He makes routine saves look spectacular, and makes good goals look even more spectacular.

The Hammer-Thrower
A hammer-thrower is a big lumbering shit-house whose only strength is strength. This is the ugly villain your star player outmanoeuvres and outwits
João-Fernando Gostamuito (28, CB, Bombarralense)
João is a grunter. You can tell he's behind you because there's this endless torrent of guttural insults flying at you, occasionally accompanied by the dull thud of his knuckles hitting the ground. What Gostamuito lacks in intelligence, speed, agility, intelligence, personality, fair play and intelligence, he makes up for in the sheer size of his massive hands. He should have been a goalkeeper, but he's a centre half who hates foreigners. Can be made to look very silly indeed by any attacker with even a thimbleful of elan.

Angry defender who points and shouts when things go wrong
The guy who allocates the blame while your hero celebrates
Goran Yurán (22, CB, Old Shakerssen’s [TAX])
Like Gostamuito, he constantly talks shit throughout the game. Unlike Gostamuito, he’s not made of ogre DNA. Nevertheless, Goran is one of nature’s natural arseholes, and his arseholery is all the more pronounced for having recently scored the winning goal in the World Cup Final. In extra time. From about 40 yards.

Mr. Broken Ankles
The guy your winger leaves on his butt as he makes his way down the wing.
Gryff Gould (28, LB, Old Shakerssen’s [TAX])
When we refer to Audioslavian full-backs as ‘Mister Broken Ankles’ we mean you need to leave them on their arse, not that they’re going to break your ankles, although the latter is certainly on the cards. Well-travelled by the standards of the players in this team, in that he’s played for two foreign clubs (Hondo FC [VAL] and Old Shakerssen’s [TAX]), Gould is a typical Audioslavian full-back in that he’s short, tenacious and seemingly once entered into a blood feud with the entire concept of ‘ankles of foreign wingers’. The only way to stop him stamping on your winger’s ankles is to be too fast for him to do so.

The Violent Cheat
The guy who can’t help but give away free kicks and penalties
Koren Lorentzen (28, RB/CB, KT Itzalovalle)
Not a Ko-orenite despite the name, yet nevertheless likes defensive football, conlangs and art-rock. Koren isn’t particularly quick, and so has to slow down opponents in order to keep up. As such, he’s had his hands on the collars of more football shirts than a sweatshop seamstress

Heroes
The guys finding just about enough time to create and convert chances in between appearing in adverts and checking their hair. Audioslavia play ‘on the counter’, which means we’re at our most effective when turning defence into attack.

Alarmingly fast wingback
This guy’s entire job is to sprint down the wing when counterattacking. Maybe he’s carrying the ball out of defence himself, maybe he’s appearing on the blindside to receive the ball in attack. Either way, he’s diminutive, annoying and ridiculously fast.
Uriah Malcolm (31, RB, 1830 Cathair)
Malcom had spent a few years moving from ‘tiny rapid wing-back' to ‘undersized yet capable centre half’, yet the emergence of the back-three partnership of Lorentzen, Yuran and Gostamuito has pushed him back over to the flank, where he’s expected to get up and down the wing like he’s 20, which he isn’t, so while he still loves getting forward, he’s less inclined to make the journey back at any real pace. Fans have seen Malcom’s 5’4 frame in Audioslavia’s back line for ages now, so long as he isn’t standing behind a plantpot or something.

Accursed Elbow Windmill
A forward player whose main job is to kick, spit, pinch, gouge, jab, knee, niggle and, as the name suggests, elbow your defenders as hard as possible without the referee seeing. The resulting diminished stamina and morale bar can be taken advantage of by the other forwards.
Denzel Keegan (28, AM, Old Shakerssen’s [TAX])
A master of the dark arts. Known to grow his nails long on his pinching fingers. Once gave a striker a monkey scrub while waiting for a corner and somehow earned a free-kick himself for his trouble. When you see him for the first time, you think he’s angry. Then, you realise he has that thing wherein his forehead is naturally wrinkled in such a way that it looks like he has a permanent scowl. Finally, you realise that no, you were right the first time, this guy is perpetually furious.

Captain Hollywood
The Hollywood Pass is a long, curling ball, ideally hit with the outside of the player’s weaker foot, whose entire purpose is to make onlookers go ‘oh gosh what a great pass’. If the pass ends in a goalscoring opportunity, that’s a bonus.
Govran Bastarretxea (29, AM, KT Moreazerua)
Deeply tanned but with mid-length auburn hair, Govran is the most attractive player in the Audioslavian team, which is like being the healthiest bucket of offal in the abbatoir. Makes up in confidence what he lacks in skill. Claims to be able to land a long pass on a sixpence from fifty yards, but time spent going and setting up such a trickshot is time Govran will spend chatting up your girlfriend.

The Geometrist
Captain Hollywood’s nerdy sidekick, the geometrist’s job is to play a perfectly weighted five-yard pass along the ground into exactly the perfect position for a team-mate to take a shot. If Captain Hollywood spends his entire life in the middle of the pitch looking in every direction for a long, curling pass, The Geometrist is found on the edge of the penalty area, looking for a way to play a delicate pass along the ground to a destination nobody but the striker expects.
Cam Hooper (23, AM, Shamrock Cathair)
A bald wizard, he seems to be able to create space on a pitch just by shifting his weight from one side to the other. Cam lets his football do the talking, which everyone who’s heard his accent is grateful for. Has one of those unfortunate resting fly-catcher faces and, as such, tends to dribble while he dribbles.

The Blunderbus
Big lad. Make goal with head. Kick footballs hard. No conjugate verbs.
Kjartan Lúnquerque (32, CF, Old Shakerssen’s [TAX])
At six foot three he’s enormous for an Audioslavian. Smashes the ball as hard as he can, hopefully goalwards, at any opportunity. He does this so reliably that his team-mates often refuse to give him the ball unless he’s in or around the area, or at least facing the goal.

Extras
For the sake of completionism. Or, in other words: A team should probably have eleven players in it, and some subs to boot.

The Water Carrier
Take ball from henchman, give to hero.
Gael Coorie (33, DM, KT Itzalovalle)
Quite why Audioslavian football developed a factory for dry, uninspiring midfielders named Gael is anyone’s guess. Coorie’s entire role is to anonymously knock the ball sideways to a midfield team-mate or to put pressure on an opposing midfielder to pass the ball away. As such, just noticing Gael’s presence during a game is a bad sign. Not having him would be like not having the right sized washer for a faucet/tap, in that to the complete surprise of the average leyman, something is about to go horribly fucking wrong.

The World’s First AI Footballer!
You’d think Audioslavia's Football Association wouldn't fall hook, line and sinker for a breathlessly overconfident sales pitch from the burstiest of AI bubble start-ups, but here we are. Oh, and for the phrase 'World's First AI Footballer' to be true, you'll have to ignore the various robot footballers that have played in the World Cup over the years, so go ahead and do that please cheers
Bily Giı:lllppy ($39, Rƒƒ, ıÎ8Ç Catttrh) is like most AIs, in that he does not exist outwith a few poorly compressed image files included in a press release put together by Chat JPG, an Audioslavian start-up that has recently laid down so much astroturf they could skin the knee of god. Images of his face have lead even Starblaydis to call him ‘unrealistically handsome’, which makes him the least Audioslavian looking person alive. Or, in this case, not alive. Chat JPG are pushing for Giı:lllppy to start games in qualifying. If this happens, Audioslavia’s team will basically be playing with ten men. Because, to reiterate, Bily Giı:lllppy is a player that does not exist. Also, he looks vaguely different in each of the 1400 test renders of his likeness.
What he lacks in existence, he makes up for in public image. It’s estimated that 4% of all journalism in Audioslavia is now dedicated to wild predictions about what ramifications ‘the sudden emergence of AI superstar footballer Bily Giı:lllppy’ will have on football, and on the livelihoods of what Chat JPG calls ‘legacy footballers’
You may think it’s preposterous that AI footballers will take over the job of real ones, but this Bullsfeed article says otherwise

Substitutes
This isn't all the available substitutes, just a selection of players from the rest of the squad.
Jean-Marc-Antoine Vidoqc (34, CB, KT Moreazerua) Hammer-thrower. To be used when needing to shore up a lead.
Jan Poulsson (21, CF, Oljestaden IF) Elbrow-thrower. To be used when chasing the game.
Ruy Palma (22, GK, AC Izotz Zubia) Injury sub. Nicknamed “Hologram hands” by fans of his club.
Wynn De Vos (19, CB/RB, Oljestaden IF) Injury sub. Boring even by the standards of a second choice right-back.
Rayo Forster (19, CM, AC Izotz Zubia) Injury sub. Barely 5’6, bundles of energy, could get booked for shirt-pulling in a skins vs shirts match.
Leandro Róbison (29, AM/CF, KT Itzalovalle) Injury sub. When he’s about to come onto the field, one of your mates goes ‘oh god not this guy’ and your other mate goes ‘this guy’s awesome just you wait and see’ and then he just does nothing.

About Audioslavia

Formed in December 2002, Audioslavia is one of the oldest nations on NS. An entrant into World Cup 4, it's also one of the oldest football teams in existence.

The side are famed for losing finals, having lost the finals of editions 12, 19, 20, 29, 67, 69 and 76. There have been some bright spots on the way, though. We won World Cups 63 and 64, and are somehow the reigning champions having come from absolutely nowhere to win World Cup 99.
In addition to these three World Cup titles, the side have won five regional championships (4x AOCAF Cup, 1x CAFA Cup), a Cup of Harmony and a Baptism of Fire trophy. We're one of only five sides to have won the 'Grand Slam' of all three WCC titles plus a regional, and we're the only side to have finished in all three medal positions in all possible major senior tournaments.

Style of Play
Post Football is the name given to Audioslavia's style of play. It's based on the idea that, the less the game resembles football, the more ill at ease your opponents will be. Audioslavia play dirty, sideways and overly cautiously.
Kontrapuntzeka is another word for Audioslavia's style of play. Literally meaning counter-attacking, Audioslavia's national team are comfortable playing without the ball and charging forward in numbers when they do finally get it. Each player on this team has a deep understanding of how, when and where to attack on the counter. Losing the ball and allowing the Bulls to hit you on the break has been fatal to many a top ten team throughout history.
Our footballers tend to be on the shorter, leaner side, with everyone outside of the goalie, centre forward and centre half topping out at about 5'10.
Audioslavian footballers are often tenacious, with the highest levels of stamina you'll see in world football. Audioslavian sides are often capable of playing at a high-tempo for long periods of time, and wins are often through attrition rather than skill.
Audioslavian teams are notorious for gamesmanship - the bending of the rules in order to gain an advantage. Players will taunt, feign injury, surround the referee, basically anything if it seems like it'd be beneficial. Audioslavians feel no shame in this. As far as they're concerned, their willingness to go further than the other team is a sign that they're more dedicated than their opponents might be. What might be considered dishonourable behaviour for you might be considered normal in Audioslavia.
Audioslavian teams fear losing. It's our greatest weakness and, given how this fear manifests itself in big games, a powerful irony
As well as lacking a bit of raw power, Audioslavian footballers often lack technique compared to their foreign counterparts. Nobody in the team is stationary and expecting a pass to feet. Passes are played into roughly the space the player will be sprinting into. When the side are countering, it's all speed-speed-speed.
Above all else though, what Audioslavian national teams often lack is heart. The worse things are going, the worse Audioslavians play. They're the classic bully. When things don't pan out as they expect, they retreat physically and mentally.

The Manager
The hot-seat is occupied by former Cazadores Cathair manager Salvador Monterroso, a man who was semi-famous a while ago as a player for being one of the many stars of hit documentary A Tale of Two Cathairs. Monterroso spent almost all his career at Cazadores Cathair, if not always in the actual first eleven. A limited player, he'd temporarily move abroad to FC Capri later in his career, but would eventually return to finish his career at Caza. After going into management with Union Cathair, he eventually earned a job as manager back at Cazadores and would lead them to two league titles.

The only possible team that could have tempted him away was the national team, where he'd eventually succeed Winfridh as manager at the end of cycle 97, guiding the team to a third place finish in the Cup of Harmony as his first port of call. Under his stewardship, the team qualified for World Cup 98, where they were entirely ineffective, but bounced back to a third place finish in the CAFA Cup before winning World Cup 99 in unfathomable circumstances. As such, Monterroso is an unlikely candidate for the title of greatest Bulls manager in history.

Stadium
The Beltzarga in Glassbridge, Cathair, is a modern but monstrous stadium. As square as a brutalist rubix cube, but made of glass from the outside, it' would make a beautiful modern art museum but a slightly annoying stadium. For every brand new spangly thing it has, there are two bewildering design decisions that make such a thing redundant. Like, sure, the commentators all have a big touch-screen each in front of them, but good luck getting them to work in inclement weather, and the seats are so uncomfortable you'll have cut off your blood supply to your legs by half time.

About the Manager

Pierre Camanin is an Auprussian Manager who signed for the Indussean National Team after the 20th edition of Independent Associations Championship. Pierre Camanin started his career as a Regionallige manager and took on the Auprussian National Team on a whim. His ultra-aggressive style completely changed his fortunes in management. He loves ultra-attacking football and demands most positions be proficient in the attack as a result. He managed the Auprussian National Team for 3 years with 5 years of lower level management and managed to get Auprussia to its first proper World Cup appearance.

The Playing XI (but incomplete)

#1 Jahangir Shehzad (Goalkeeper)
the twenty two year old goalkeeper Jahangir Shehzad. Who's been always in the bench waiting for their debut match. Jahangir Shehzad is a familiar face to all those who used to follow the Youth football tournaments in Indusse. Jahangir also was a tough contender for Liga Prime's (Indusse's Division One Football League) Golden Gloves. Jahangir was born in the city of Shahzalabad, located seventy six kilometres north of Riveria. He started his career for his school team and then got into the famous college team belonging to Mir Azmal College of Physical Sciences (MACPS). His performance for his college team got him into Sindvpore FC and later to Southbay Riveria FC. Currently, Jahangir is the goalkeeper for Southbay Riveria FC and had replaced Steve in the last season.

#13 Mathias Paulson (Defender)
Mathias Paulson born to a wealthy Syrian Christian family in Southbay. He wasn't a soccer maniac or something, who would have started playing for clubs before teenage. He started playing at the age of fifteen for several local clubs including his school and college clubs. After this Sport Medicine graduation from Saint Louis Holiness College in Jawaruyah, he got a mail from the Jawaruyah XI FC for being a defence and fitness co trainer. With his outmost hardwork in the game, he soon won a lot of awards and got a call from Rockies International FC for being their defender. He soon left Jawaruyah for Rockies Islands, it was his perfect defending which let the club rise from Division to to Primary Division tournament Liga Prime. The Team reached top three of the primary division tournament after his arrival and he also received a lot of awards for his play. With his arrival in Liga Prime and as a successor to former Rockies Defender Maryland Bruno (Maryland is his nickname because he used to run a cookie brand called Maryland Food), he got into the radar of National team selectors. He later got the call of the selectors to join the national team camp which was the turnover in his career. He soon became a well known defender in the nation and the captain of Rockies International FC.

#14 Djetson Hasle (Mid Fielder)
Born as Djetson Hazlett to Dr. Henry Hazlett and Maria Henry in Sindvpore, Djetson change his surname at the age of sixteen to Hasle for joining film industry since there was a prominent star "Philip Hazlett" existing. He couldn't do much in the film industry, which changed his route into football. He played for the national U-18 team due to his absolutely commendable performance for his club Sindvpore FC. His performance also brought him into the national team and got himself as a key player. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and took part in the Championship of FFI. He is married to Katherine Hazlett, daughter of film star Philip Hazlett. Katherine is also a prominent film star in Indusse. Hasle also took part in futsal and also tried a hand in hockey. But he later realised that he was made for professional soccer.

#12 Rahul B Kumar (Forward)
Rahul B Kumar was born to the legendary soccer star, Baskar H Kumar as his only child in Derasar, Hind. Derasar is an offshore resort island owned by Baskar Kumar and David Beckem. Rahul was born to him when he and his wife was spending their vacation in Derasar. Rahul was send to Valley Bound International School in New Hind City to complete his primary education. At the age of 8, he got himself in the school's junior team and his performance got him to be the captain and at age of 12 as the School team's captain. Just like his father, Rahul took the path to be a striker and sharpshooter. At the age of 15, he got to be part of Hind City FC's B Team and also the Under-16 National Team. His colleague Goblin Grundjee got themselves to the national team. His performance for the under-16s and 19s brought them to the spotlight making way to the national team. They currently play for Neagra FC in the Liga Prime and at the same time they're taking BTech in Sanātana Dharma College, Hind City.

#11 Antonio Mersiás (Forward)
The second youngest recruit in the camp, Antonio Mersiás is a well known youth idol in the nation. He was the captain of Indussean youth team in the Sporting World Cup. He led the team into the semi finals of the tournament till they lost to Starblaydia's young guns. He was born in Karadawadi, a county in Dhalopura to Francis Antony, who was a carpenter and Selina Francis. He lived as a poor kid going to the village school who wasn't so good at academics but bright in sports. His quality sporting skills caught the eyes of the headmaster there, who admitted him to the local football training sessions. The headmaster soon send him to the Jawal-Biesse the nearest city for his studies. He played for the Jawal-Biesse FC for three years and captained the team until he was called to play for the Dhalopura FC. He got selected to the U-18 team as soon as he played his first match for Dhalopura FC. His quality play in the club also got him promoted as the captain of the youth team. His awesome, historical performance for the youth team got him a quick ticket to the National Team Camp. He is currently an important part of the national team who cannot be replaced easily.

#100 Goblin Grundjee (Forward)
Goblin Grundjee who is the first ever non-human sportsperson from Indusse. The Grundjee's are one of the families of the Goblin species that was created by the scientists by DNA Modelling. The scientists created a new race of Goblins through gene editing and combining the DNAs of Humans with certain animals and Algae. The goblin species were divided into three families were Grundjees are one of the major part. The other two families are called Mithys and Auris. The current members of the grundjee family is Colonel Grundjee who is a Colonel in the royal army of Indusse. The gene of colonel Grundjee was created by merging the genes of three colonels of the army with the genes of a eagle and the green algae. The green algae plays a necessary role in getting the green Color of the skin. The other member is Goblin Grundjee who is currently playing for the juniors. His gene was created by merging the genes of David Bekem, a former football and of a wild horse. The green algae is also a necessary part of the composition. The grundjee family has the green composition of skins due to green algae. Whereas, Mithys has a brownish red skin due to the presence of Blue-green Algae with Iron sediments, Auris family has the skin Color of a normal human as there isn't any presence of algae. The skin textures and patterns of the goblins are same as the humans and the color is the only thing that can discriminate it with humans. The scientific community believe that the goblin race will create revolution in the world of science. The creation of Goblin Grundjee was overseen by fellow player Bechun Butea who also played a major role in bringing Grundjee as a experimental player. Well, Grundjee is currently one of the best strikers the nation has seen.

[OOC: The Playing XI data consists only of the veterans from the previous world cup]

Home Ground

The Aditya Varma Kulashekara International Stadium, is home to the Flocking Blues and is the largest sports stadium in the nation. The Aditya Varma Kulashekara International Stadium can hold 131,561 spectators in normal cases. The most attendance recorded for an event in the stadium was 148,241 spectators. This historical event happened long before the current stadium had been built. The former stadium known as IFA International Stadium had just a capacity of 108,112 and the event was the Sworn-in of Baskar H Kumar as the first president of the Indusse. In other words, the sworn in was also the same as the nation's independence day. The most spectators for a match was recorded as 118,232 spectators for a match between Indusse and Pratapgadh which was once a derby match.

Image

This Stadium was built first by Aditya Varma Kulashekara, the emperor of Indusse at his reign. The stadium was built as part of giving the Indussean Football Association, a home ground. The Stadium at its beginning had a capacity of 62,122 spectators and was later increased to 97,783. The Stadium also in the past hosted the home matches of Royal Hind City FC (Currently, New Hind City FC) and Hind United FC (Currently dissolved). The Hind United FC got dissolved into Royal Hind City FC and the club through enough funding brought some land near the Darbar Halls and built a stadium there which currently serves as their home ground and the nation's secondary home ground. The IFA Stadium was built close to the Hind River and was surrounded by small forests. The place then known to be Kadaathaaaru was chosen for the stadium, the name literally meant to be "Forest River". The stadium continued to host the nation's home matches until the IFA was disbanded after the invasion of the Islamic Conquerors. The Dari Sultanate rulers took over the nation and placed a ban on all sort of native entertainment including music and sports. The stadium was taken under the custody of the Dari Military and was converted into a arena to propagate Dari Propoganda. The Stadium was renamed as Neimat Abdullah Arena and the capacity was increased to 108,112. The Neimat Abdullah Arena also became the public execution grounds of Natives in Indusse. The Dari Supressed Native Freedom Fighters were beheaded, hanged and shot dead at these grounds. After the Independence, the stadium was renamed as IFA Stadium and held the nation's first independence day celebrations. After a few years, it was renamed to Aditya Varma Kulashekara International Stadium and the capacity was increased to 131,561. The Government then also decided to set up a monument for the natives who were killed by the supression. The Divya Azadi Stambh (Divine Freedom Pillar) located in the stadium complex is the so called monument. This Pillar is an important part of the nation's independence day celebrations.

New hopes, new names, new faces, the beginning of a new era. For the multiverse at least.

Aphrilia saw themselves being crowned IAC Champions, after beating Drawkland in the finals of IAC 24. Entering the centennial edition of the World Cup, many old and new nations are attending what has surely got to be the largest edition of the World Cup in the history of the multiverse. The objective for The Anchors remains the same, aiming to do the absolute best they can and try to put themselves one step further than their last. However, the departure of some long time players of the national team has shifted the dynamic that had been set solid. How will this new team fare against the rest of the multiverse? As Aphrilians always tend to say in regards to this kind of situation... Only time will tell.

Additions will likely not be explained IRP unless I choose to do so.

Aphrilia's 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 with their IAC 22 line-up.

TEAM TACTICS
UNOFFICIAL: This is not an official analysis, this was a community effort by several Aphrilians. Thanks to OuijaBard_222 & falcoSmarts for the online summarization and everyone else who contributed to making this analysis! Man the new national team tactics are a headache to figure out.

AN/EDIT 1: Seems like our analysis was spot on. Thank goodness! For anyone wanting to use the information from our analysis, do note that these tactics are dated to around WC99. Of course, there will likely be an update depending on if there will be further changes made by the national team themselves.

AN/EDIT 2: Holy shit they won the IAC? Seems like these tactics are here to stay until a managerial change! Well, either that or until Bianchi decides to reinvent himself again. Honestly we may not have to even wait for that knowing the scale for WC100. But they all seem determined, even with the new... Surprising additions. Alright then, Go Anchors!

Leonardo Bianchi maintains that The Anchors continue to play a 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 Diamond.

The new tactics that the national team are using seem to be a blend of both old and new. The team still has that whole "Anchor" thing controlling the team's pace and tempo, but it also looks like the players have apparently been given freedom to break out of tempo when needed (Whether to recover from mistakes or take advantage of them, among other scenarios). Other changes include that The Anchors seem to have ditched the whole "specific tempo" thing and just play according to the pace that the the "Anchor" sets. It's more difficult to describe since it's not as tight-knit or precise, but that would be the general gist of how they play. Of course, it's still not as fast as usual offensive oriented teams, but the average speed of play seems to have been increased. And honestly? This was definitely coming sooner or later, and fortunately it was the latter.

As for the team's offense and defense... Let's start with the former. The team seems to have made changes in how the team attacks. Sure, they still play on the counterattack to take the opposition off-guard, but they've also added a lot of variety in how they move the ball forward. They let players who specialize in certain areas play completely to their strengths (Forrestal out wide to cut in, Villa being a pure finisher in the box, etc), and each player seems to know when to attack now. But the biggest changes were for defense. Historically this was a high-press team, but Bianchi with his Bianchism was known best for the usage of the offside trap. Well now? Seems like they're keeping the high-press but for man-to-man. But when doing zonal defense, the team seems to switch to a mix of zonal marking with the offside trap (Is that how it should be described?). In short, the team's made changes and improvements everywhere, Bianchi is a gamechanger, and this team should (Hopefully) do better this time around.

FAN CULTURE
Aphrilians can be both patriotic and respectful most of the time. The keywords in that sentence being most of the time.

At home, Aphrilians will be chanting, singing, and cheering on from the beginning to the end of the match. And with the Millennium Dawn Stadium being designed in a way that gives the home crowd a good advantage (All within the rules), expect intense pressure from the stands. Tifos will be displayed, flags will be waved. No matter the end result, this nation will support it's team to the very end. However, they will be respectful to the opposition team and the away fans that travelled all the way to Darlingtown to see their team. Alcohol is banned in stadiums in a continuous effort to keep hooliganism at bay, and security is guaranteed for the teams as well as fans. The home crowd are friendly a lot of the times, so expect harmony and kinship before and after the match. This attitude is also shared for those who go to the away games, being respectful and proud.

And that is most of the time. However, when Aphrilians do end up getting rowdy, they can often cause quite the commotion. Public disturbance, vandalizing, damage to public and private property, those kind of things. But overall, the fanbase is calm enough that these occurrences are a sort of "once in a blue moon" kind of thing. In most cases where Aphrilians are reserved before and after matches, they often socialize with not only their own but also away fans whenever The Anchors are playing at home. On away days, the fans that are willing to make the trip will be sociable depending on if there's any restrictions placed on them as away fans or not. Generally having fun with each other before and after the matches by sharing songs, playing games with one another, enjoying the before and after festivities of a hopefully exciting football match.

The Oceanic Paradise of Dantopia is an island nation located in the South Pacific. The country boasts an idyllic tropical landscape, a smattering of clean and modern metropolitan areas, a vibrant and bustling tourism industry, along with major contributions from tech, financial services and retail. The Dantopia men's national football team represents Dantopia in international football. The team's inaugural appearance in the South Pacific Cup saw the Lions winning the competition, defeating Evinea in the final 2-1. Dantopia participated in the Baptism of Fire 81, as well as the World Cup 94 qualifiers and Cup of Harmony 86. The team made the round of 16 in the Baptism of Fire but failed to advance from the group stages in either the World Cup 94 qualifiers or Cup of Harmony 86. The World Cup 100 qualifying campaign will see Dantopia's long-awaited return to the international football stage.

Football is the most popular sport in Dantopia. The Dantopian Football Association (DFA) governs professional football in Dantopia, and they currently administer two professional divisions of football — aptly named Divisions 1 and 2 — in a two-tiered, closed league system. Division 1 (sometimes shortened to D1) is the highest level of the Dantopian football league system. Contested by twelve clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the other divisions within the Dantopian Football Association's league system. Division 1 is the most-watched sports league in Dantopia, and is hoping to grow its audience internationally long-term. The league takes advantage of a lucrative television rights deal with Papaya, a Dantopian technology company.

Fans of the Dantopian national team are fiercely supportive, but also extremely respectful, noted for helping clean up stadiums after the end of football games. There are a number of strongly contested local rivalries within Dantopia, but it is rare that these fixtures lead to anything major in the way of disruption or disorderly conduct from fanbases. Dantopia is home to many state of the art football stadiums, with the newly constructed National Team Stadium (NTS) being the official home of the Dantopian National Team. It boats a capacity of over 100,000 seats and sits adjacent to the capital Lion City's downtown district. Other sites across Dantopia will also host national team games across the qualifying stages of this world cup, including stadiums in Lion City, Dartford, Portland and Waiakea.

Dantopia's traditional home colours are a navy shirt with white shorts and red socks. Traditionally the away strip is a a white shirt with blue shorts and white socks. The third strip for this World Cup cycle is an all-black ensemble (with black shorts and black socks too). In the event of shorts and socks kit clashes in an away fixture, alternative coloured shorts and socks are sometimes used (such as the navy home strip with navy shorts and red socks to avoid a clash with a team with white shorts etc.)

The Dantopian National Team, once a promising newcomer to the stage, has been in the wilderness for a number of years now. But there is fresh hope that the squad assembled for this World Cup Qualifying campaign has the necessary quality to perform well, and can do the nation proud with hard work, determination, and a bit of flair to boot. Below are the profiles of each of the 26 men manager Rick Bishop has called up to represent the Lions.

ImageImage
#1 - Alex Bullvale
Position(s): Goalkeeper | Age: 32 | Height: 191 cm (6'3") | Weight: 77 kg (170 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Kyethas Rivermen (Image Tikariot) | Play style: Ball-Playing Keeper | cica.da: @alex.bullvale
International Caps: 2 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 1 | Awards: South Pacific Cup Winner (x1)
Having spent the past 5 seasons playing in the TPL for the Rivermen, Bullvale is Dantopia's most experienced goalkeeper at a high level. His modern ball-playing style of play is well suited to Rick Bishop's tactical philosophy for the team, though it's expected that Bullvale's shot-stopping ability will be his most relied upon skill as the relative inexperience of the squad on the international stage will mean he remains busy at the back.
ImageImage
#2 - Will Cross
Position(s): Right Back / Centre Back | Age: 28 | Height: 179 cm (5'10") | Weight: 78 kg (172 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Grenadiers (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Inside Full Back / Wide Centre Back | cica.da: @willcross.2
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Developed initially in the Grenadiers academy as a centre back, Cross has found more game time at right back over the years, and has now solidified himself in that position for the national team as well. He is able to venture forward and provide a ball into the box as his name aptly suggests, but is generally much more comfortable sliding into a back three when the team is in possession.
ImageImage
#3 - Dwight Krol
Position(s): Left Back / Centre Back | Age: 26 | Height: 185 cm (6'1") | Weight: 80 kg (176 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Portland Pirates (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Wing Back / Wide Centre Back | cica.da: @dwight.krol
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Used interchangeably as a left back or left centre back in his early career, the Tumbran-born Kroll has established himself as a proper wingback, capable of overlapping and providing quality crosses into the box. His bread and butter is one-on-one defending, though he is at times prone to not checking his shoulder at the far post, something that national team manager Rick Bishop will be keenly aware of as a former goalkeeper himself.
ImageImage
#4 - Keegan Foster
Position(s): Centre Back | Age: 25 | Height: 192 cm (6'4") | Weight: 85 kg (187 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Miruan City (Image Tikariot) | Play style: Covering Defender / No-Nonsense Defender | cica.da: @keegan.foster
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Having plied his trade as a physical, no-nonsense centre back in the TPL with both Khalgarh Valley and Miruan City, Foster is one pair of dual national Dantopian-Tikariotian defenders that has been called up to the national team for the World Cup 100 qualifiers. Alongside Emerson Cromwell, Foster will likely see consistent minutes, and be expected to marshal the Lions’ defence through a barrage of attacks from international opponents.
ImageImage
#5 - Emerson Cromwell
Position(s): Centre Back | Age: 26 | Height: 188 cm (6'2") | Weight: 80 kg (176 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Veriasod Wolves (Image Tikariot) | Play style: Ball-Playing Defender | cica.da: @emerson.cromwell
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
The other Dantopian-Tikariotian dual national centre back that has been called up to help the Lions through the gruelling World Cup qualifiers, Emerson Cromwell is the ideal centre back partner for Keegan Foster. Quick, with good fundamentals, and excellent ball-playing ability. What he lacks in physical dominance compared to Foster, he more than makes up for in insightful and intelligent defending.
ImageImage
#6 - Dani Spaghetti
Position(s): Defensive Midfielder / Central Midfielder | Age: 33 | Height: 185 cm (6'1") | Weight: 80 kg (176 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Grenadiers (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Holding Midfielder / Deep-Lying Playmaker | cica.da: @dani.spaghetti
International Caps: 38 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 2 | Awards: South Pacific Cup Winner (x1)
The long-serving, metronomic anchor in the middle of the park for Dantopia, who often dictates the game without ever leaving the centre-circle, Spaghetti will see his minutes diminish slightly now that he is 33. What he is able to offer will still be of sufficient quality for the Lions as they look to control the midfield, and Spaghetti’s eye for the long-range screamer is still a well-known subject on any scouting report made of him.
ImageImage
#7 - Johnny Kealoha
Position(s): Attacking Midfielder / Central Midfielder | Age: 28 | Height: 175 cm (5'9") | Weight: 73 kg (161 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Kyethas Rivermen (Image Tikariot) | Play style: Advanced Playmaker / Box-to-Box Playmaker | cica.da: @johnny.kealoha
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
Despite the shirt number, Kealoha is a classic number 10, and has been a crucial asset for the Rivermen in Tikariot’s top flight for a number of years. Dantopia’s most dangerous attacks will likely all be orchestrated by Kealoha, who possesses spectacular passing vision, for both short and long range, from in the middle of the park or out wide. He is also a set-piece specialist, and will be on all of Dantopia’s corners and free kicks.
ImageImage
#8 - Ezra Cunningham
Position(s): Central Midfielder | Age: 28 | Height: 186 cm (6'1") | Weight: 75 kg (165 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Club ESF (Image Valanora) | Play style: Box-to-Box Midfielder | cica.da: @ezra.cunningham
International Caps: 38 | Goals: 5 | Assists: 7 | Awards: South Pacific Cup Winner (x1)
A complete midfielder, and a jack of all trades in many respects, Ezra Cunningham is a box-to-box number 8, and has particularly shown an excellent ability to make late third man runs even beyond the strikers at times. He offers an ideal link between defence and attack, able to use his frame to protect the ball, whilst taking advantage of his long legs to drive into opposition territory and eat up the yards quickly.
ImageImage
#9 - Bradini Brunson
Position(s): Centre Forward | Age: 26 | Height: 182 cm (6'0") | Weight: 75 kg (165 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Lion City FC (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Advanced Forward | cica.da: @bradini.9.brunson
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
Named by his parents after legendary Starblaydian player Simeone Di Bradini, Brunson will occupy the main centre-forward role for the Lions during the World Cup qualifiers. The pressure that his name has put on him during his career has perhaps not been fulfilled, but he offers a very direct style of attack for the Lions, as he looks to stay on the shoulder of his defenders, getting in behind with his lightning pace at a moment’s notice.
ImageImage
#10 - Michael Danchevy
Position(s): Left Winger / Centre-Forward | Age: 34 | Height: 186 cm (6'1") | Weight: 70 kg (154 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Tikariot City (Image Tikariot) | Play style: Inside Forward / Advanced Forward | cica.da: @michael.danchevy
International Caps: 39 | Goals: 26 | Assists: 8 | Awards: South Pacific Cup Winner (x1)
The most experienced veteran of the side, and the national team captain, Michael Danchevy still has lots to offer at the age of 34. His pace has not left him quite yet, and his skilfulness and eye for goal is something he could carry with him right towards his 40s if he so desired. He is the talisman of this Dantopia side and will be on penalty duties whenever he is on the field.
ImageImage
#11 - Adebayo Adeyemi
Position(s): Right Winger | Age: 30 | Height: 178 cm (5'10") | Weight: 65 kg (143 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Grenadiers (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Outlet Winger | cica.da: @adebayo.adeyemi
International Caps: 39 | Goals: 13 | Assists: 7 | Awards: South Pacific Cup Winner (x1)
Adeyemi’s move to Pesfield Trees in Sylestone ultimately didn’t work out for the gifted winger, and he moved back to the Grenadiers, but he maintains the confidence of those who follow the Lions. Adeyemi, who is comfortable with both feet, alongside Brunson and Danchevy will have most defenders beaten for pace, showcasing The Lions’ counter-attacking prowess.
ImageImage
#12 - Raphael Lacroix
Position(s): Right Back / Left Back | Age: 27 | Height: 183 cm (6'0") | Weight: 72 kg (159 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Dartford Oilers (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Wing Back | cica.da: @raph.la.croix
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
The versatile and ambipedal Lacroix is an Oilers academy graduate who’s best asset is his ability to play both the right and left back positions equally well. His quick acceleration and ability to play balls into the box with either foot will be sorely sought after when the Lions need to make changes to chase a game, though his one-on-one defending can be lacking at times.
ImageImage
#13 - Winston Akana
Position(s): Goalkeeper | Age: 26 | Height: 190 cm (6'3") | Weight: 91 kg (201 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Lion City FC (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Sweeper Keeper | cica.da: @winst1.akana
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Another Tumbran-Dantopian dual national, who has chosen to represent Dantopia in the World Cup qualifiers, Akana will offer the Lions a serviceable back-up to the reliable Alex Bullvale. Akana lacks the impressive passing vision of Bullvale, but he is an assertive and agile sweeper keeper, with impressive reflexes. He might not see much game time, but when called upon, will offer his all.
ImageImage
#14 - Maverick Johnson
Position(s): Left Winger / Right Winger | Age: 28 | Height: 173 cm (5'8") | Weight: 67 kg (148 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Dartford Oilers (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Outlet Winger / Inside Forward | cica.da: @maverick.j
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
Maverick by name and Maverick by nature. There is rarely a dull moment when following the life and career of Maverick Johnson. Small in stature, but powerful and incredibly direct. He possesses a wonderful right foot and a silky-smooth touch. What he also possesses, though, is a bit of an ego, and that is certainly something that could hold him back from becoming an elite player.
ImageImage
#15 - Ash Morgan
Position(s): Centre Back | Age: 27 | Height: 190 cm (6'3") | Weight: 75 kg (165 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Dartford City (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Ball-Playing Defender | cica.da: @ash.morgan
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
A dependable rock at the back for Dartford City, Morgan is calm and collected on the ball, very press-resistant when playing out from the back. He lacks the experience of Cromwell or Foster at the top level, but is a capable defender in his own right and when called upon, will not let the Lions down. His aerial presence on set-pieces, whether attacking or defending them, is perhaps his best quality of all.
ImageImage
#16 - Kai Watanabe
Position(s): Defensive Midfielder / Central Midfielder | Age: 24 | Height: 178 cm (5'10") | Weight: 77 kg (170 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Portland Pirates (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Ball-Winning Midfielder / Pressing Midfielder | cica.da: @kai.watanabe
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
If you are looking for a midfielder with the legs and lungs of three men, look no further than Kai Watanabe. A true work-horse that will work tirelessly to win the ball back. His engine is obviously his upside, but he doesn’t quite possess the ball-playing ability of his midfield counterparts in the squad, so will have to be accompanied by a playmaker alongside him in midfield.
ImageImage
#17 - Nehemiah Cunningham
Position(s): Central Midfielder / Defensive Midfielder | Age: 26 | Height: 191 cm (6'3") | Weight: 75 kg (165 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Rockport Ravens (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Holding Midfielder | cica.da: @nehemiah.cunningham
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
The younger brother of Ezra, Nehemiah is a little more defensively minded than his brother, preferring to hold the midfield shape and allow others the freedom to explore the spaces further up the field. This more disciplined approach will prove useful if the Lions have to maintain their shape or protect a lead. Where Ezra has sought pastures new overseas, Nehemiah has stayed true to Rockport at home, the brothers’ boyhood club.
ImageImage
#18 - Nico Hollins
Position(s): Right Winger | Age: 26 | Height: 180 cm (5'11") | Weight: 65 kg (143 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Portland Pirates (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Outlet Winger / Tracking Winger | cica.da: @nico.hollins
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
The third and final Tumbran-Dantopian dual national to make the team, Nico Hollins offers oodles of energy and enthusiasm off the bench. Tireless in his pursuit of breaking offside traps, Hollins is also a dogged defender from the wing, utilising his impressive stamina in all aspects of his game. He offers the national team a fantastic option off the bench for when opposition legs are tiring.
ImageImage
#19 - Jeremiah Jackson Jr.
Position(s): Centre Forward / Left Winger | Age: 28 | Height: 186 cm (6'1") | Weight: 77 kg (170 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Lion City FC (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Advanced Forward / Inside Forward | cica.da: @triple.j
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
The deputy striker to Bradini Brunson, JJJ (or Triple J), by whom he is often referred, is very similar in profile to the former. Fast, agile and always looking to get in behind, Jeremiah can also operate equally effectively from the left wing, cutting in on his stronger right foot, which can feel like a cannon if you let him fire from distance. JJJ has all the tools, but sometimes lacks the consistency of those ahead of him.
ImageImage
#20 - Will Fodderingham
Position(s): Attacking Midfielder / Right Winger | Age: 32 | Height: 171 cm (5'7") | Weight: 69 kg (152 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Dartford City (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Advanced Playmaker / Wide Playmaker | cica.da: @fill.wodderingham
International Caps: 35 | Goals: 4 | Assists: 4 | Awards: South Pacific Cup Winner (x1)
A veteran presence in attacking midfield for the Lions, Fodderingham has always used his slight frame to be tricky and incisive. Whether played centrally or out wide, Fodderingham is a natural playmaker, and will look to play those final balls into the box for the Dantopian forwards. Now aged 32, gone are the days of his boyish charm and experimental haircuts, though he is still a firm favourite amongst many lady supporters.
ImageImage
#21 - Kaleb Kahananui
Position(s): Left Back / Central Midfielder | Age: 18 | Height: 178 cm (5'10") | Weight: 72 kg (159 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Vna-Chuhul Ravens (Image Tikariot) | Play style: Inverted Wing Back / Pressing Midfielder | cica.da: @kaleb.kahananui
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Precocious, ferocious and tenacious, the young Kaleb Kahananui will likely be the Lions' first choice left back this campaign. Deployed in a number of roles in the Grenadiers academy, including left back, left midfield and central midfield, Kahananui is a very versatile, modern left back, with an excellent attitude and fundamentals. He has recently signed for the Vna-Chuhul Ravens in the TPL to take the next steps in his burgeoning career.
ImageImage
#22 - Sam Robinson-Tate
Position(s): Centre Back / Right Back / Left Back | Age: 22 | Height: 188 cm (6'2") | Weight: 77 kg (170 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Right | Club: Waiakea Warriors (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Covering Defender / Inside Full Back | cica.da: @s.r.t.22
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Able to cover a multitude of roles in defence, SRT, as he is affectionately nicknamed, is another excellent role player for Rick Bishop’s side, and will do whatever is asked of him when he is called upon. An academy graduate of the Waiakea Warriors, Robinson-Tate has been rumoured to be open to exploring a move abroad to further his development, and will likely be using the World Cup Qualifiers as his audition stage.
ImageImage
#23 - Zeke Edwards
Position(s): Centre Forward | Age: 19 | Height: 193 cm (6'4") | Weight: 82 kg (181 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Waiakea Warriors (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Target Forward | cica.da: @zeke.edwards
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Awards: None
Where Brunson and Jackson Jr. offer pure pace, Zeke Edwards is able to provide power and precision. A more traditional target man in every sense, Edwards thrives on playing with his back to goal, flicking the ball onto the faster forwards around him, and he also has a knack for being in the right spot at the right time for any cut-backs or crosses into the box. If plan A isn’t working for the Lions, Edwards is very much their plan B.
ImageImage
#24 - Tyson Taylor
Position(s): Centre Back | Age: 18 | Height: 182 cm (6'0") | Weight: 76 kg (168 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Shoreline Sharks (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Covering Defender / Ball-Playing Defender | cica.da: @ty.taylor
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
A young, up-and-coming centre back with high potential, Tyson Taylor is still quite raw at the moment. Perhaps his invitation to the World Cup Qualifiers squad is an indicator at the lack of quality depth in the national team, but the experience will also do him the world of good, even if it is just being around the other players and training with them. Expect him to make a few appearances here and there, to help with his development.
ImageImage
#25 - Elleby Young
Position(s): Central Midfielder / Attacking Midfielder | Age: 20 | Height: 181 cm (5'11") | Weight: 80 kg (176 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Apollo FC (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Box-to-Box Playmaker / Advanced Playmaker | cica.da: @elleby.young

Another young up-and-comer, Elleby is an agile, technical dribbler, who always excelled amongst his peers at academy level. He will provide good competition to the likes of Kai Watanable and Nehemiah Cunningham for minutes off the bench in midfield. Perhaps the time is right for Young to make his name on the main stage and secure a move abroad to help develop his game further.

#26 - Marty Gartner
Position(s): Goalkeeper | Age: 27 | Height: 193 cm (6'4") | Weight: 92 kg (203 lbs)
Preferred Foot: Left | Club: Apollo FC (Image Dantopia) | Play style: Line-Holding Goalkeeper | cica.da: @marty.gartner
International Caps: 0 | Goals: 0 | Assists: 0 | Clean Sheets: 0 | Awards: None
Rounding out the squad is Apollo FC goalkeeper Marty Gartner, who is a fine keeper in his own right, but firmly behind in the pecking order compared to Bullvale and Akana. Gartner won't be expected to secure many minutes, but the role of the third goalkeeper in any squad is always more about training and things behind the scenes. Gartner has a good head on his shoulders, and will be a good locker room presence.

Harold Northgate has departed his role as National Team manager, with a final record of 18 wins, 15 draws and 8 losses. He successfully led the Lions to winning the South Pacific Cup, a round of 16 exit in the 81st edition of the Baptism of Fire, and an admirable - albeit unsuccessful - qualifying campaign in World Cup 94. With a new manager at the helm, the Lions will be looking to make a fresh impact in the World Cup 100 Qualifiers. Below is a profile of the new national team manager, and a breakdown of his preferred tactics...

Rick Bishop
Role: National Team Manager | Age: 37 | Height: 199 cm (6'6")
Preferred formation: 4-3-3 | Nationality Image Dantopia | cica.da: @rick.b1shop
Matches managed: 0 | Won: 0 | Drawn: 0 | Lost: 0 | Awards: None
Recently retired goalkeeper Rick Bishop has entered the fray as national team manager, upon the completion of his coaching badges whilst finishing his career off in Tikariot with Baraldhur FC. It was there where Bishop shone and helped the Dragons win an unlikely TPL championship in season 112. He brings with him that experience, along with a South Pacific Cup Winners medal with the national team whilst he was still playing.

Style Mod: +1.00

Styles of play:

Two distinct styles of play that the team can regularly fluctuate between, and a strong emphasis on set-pieces

    • In possession:
Structured; distinct patterns of play when building out from the back; emphasis on keeping possession of the ball; two advanced midfielders occupy gaps between the opposition midfield and defence; wingers use entire width of the pitch to stretch opposition defence; shift of the ball from side to side in order to find gaps in opposition defence; moderately high defensive line to push up the pitch, put pressure on the opposition and create an offside trap
    • In transition:
Fast and direct; wingers stay high and wide to provide outlets for long balls either from the back or from the midfield; emphasis on exploiting the pace of the front three to attack the defence; focus on outside to in as the point of attack; late runs into the box from the two advanced midfielders; rest defence don't advance and provide structure in case of losing possession
    • Set pieces:
Strong set-piece specialists in the team (J. Kealoha, M. Danchevy); a multitude of carefully orchestrated set-piece plays; good aerial threats (K. Foster, E. Cromwell, D. Spaghetti, E. Cunningham); J. Kealoha takes corners and most free kicks; M. Danchevy takes penalties and some free kicks; W. Fodderingham offers a strong left-footed option off the bench
Favoured Formation & Starting Line-Up
Formation Structure (out of possession):Formation structure (in possession):
ImageImage
National team manager Rick Bishop likes to line the side up in a 4-3-3, which converts to a 3-2-2-3 (or 3-box-3) when in possession. A defensive 3 behind the DM and LB make up a solid rest defence structure. The two remaining midfielders fill the half spaces. The wingers stay high and wide for outlets when counter-attacking.

Dēmos Roster Thread

— DĒMOS REGIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM —

▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓

░░░| OVERVIEW |░░░

Lighting the fire so you don’t have to!

Since time immemorial, Dēmos has served as the philosophical center of sporting and its various communities, emphasizing grit, determination and sportsmanship. This has delved since the inaugural start of the Olympic Games a long time ago, history unfound by those who have attempted to seek it.

The Team sees itself additionally as part of a longstanding tradition of proclaiming itself to host the birth of “footballing miracles” as may have been evident in the 87th Baptism of Fire which followed a string of impressive achievements by center-back Henrick Whyatou in the storied odyssey: The Black Ram of Greece.

In this centennial World Cup, the Dēmosians are prodigious, and humble yet are willing to make a shout for themselves to go deep into this year’s tournament.

They expect silverware.

DĒMOS AVALINÑEA!

░░░| OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE IMPERIUM |░░░

Buzz…buzz…

Excitement was immediately heard from the Dēmosians back home as all citizens one alike tuned into their rustic, marble radios of their local homes. Radios had just been imported by the Imperium from local overseas polities in preparation for the World Cup as people tried to get accustomed to what was new technology to them at this period.

One family sat with their two children ready to tune in…

Good evening all Dēmosians,

The Imperium is excited to hear the rosters for the centennial World Cup were opened by West Pavlos. Our team is on their way to the polity as we speak as we are excited to participate. We urge all Dēmosians back home to please support our boys as they involved themselves in what may be an enormous mental and physical pressure for them. You may understand this taking into account the hard-fought performance of the team in the Baptism of Fire held within Arrosia.

The tournament organizers have for now, pending any removals, settled on a total participant count of 276. This is enormous by any margin ever seen to which our observers believe since the World Cup’s inception. We, however, would like to remind our citizens that this number is not set in stone but is likely as it would require 16 or 28 additional teams to inscribe themselves into the system. We have still yet to verify the tournament format utilized by West Pavlos, but nonetheless we can assure our citizens we are well within the bounds of our own participation in the World Cup.

To our Dēmosian boys,

We woul like to wish you all the very best as you participate in an event that only comes once. Put your forceps close to your forehead and pray that the Supreme Deity may be with you. Be humble. Be brave. Forget never the tribulations you have experienced and—

Remember above all—have fun!

The radio immediately turned silent as the embers of the past, present and future accompanied the dances of the local people near the bonfire of their newly-acclaimed baptism.

He never quite knew what was expected of him. In the middle of parental pressures that influenced his grades, Rafail Paleas found solace in the friends he made during his routine practices. He was excellent. He had a good eye for the ball and was always present. All the while he would keep mumbling:

How am I going to live to the mantle of my parents?

That was the reminiscence of what would be a son that no longer came back to his neighborhood.

Now he is a man.

Having played for the U19 Dēmosian Regional Football Team, he would later now be invited to his first international at 21 years of age. This was unprecedented at the time. World Cup silverware, however, was well-calculated by the reptillian as he slithers effortlessly through his opponents.

Name: Rafail Paleas
Nickname: The Spanish Salamander
Region of Origin: Demos
League: Serié BBVA
Height: 5"11
Age: 21
Preferred Foot: Right

“The pitch is meant to be messy. Do you think Demos’ success is attributed to your “supposed” high level of tactics? No, not quite. We just know our roots better than yours.”

Don’t teach me football. Let me show you. These two words are statements of philosophy for a lion whose rusticity demands presence: his preference for complete domination sees himself at the other half of the pitch in minutes. Wearing the captain’s armband, he reminisces of a time where he would play “footy” (as he refers to it) with his friends:

Remember when our feet touched nothing but the grass? The ants delectably crawling around your puny-toes as the ball volleys—

He would play rudely in the dirt for what was a childhood brimmed with hardship, poverty and camaraderie. His father would beat him often while his mother loved him too much. He did not know how to repay the incurring debts.

A life of poverty is no more. I will give you everything and pay back my dues.

He would later be selected for the U21 Dēmosian Regional Football Team before being elevated to the senior team. He would attain the captaincy after an impressive string of performances in the Copa: a full, unbeaten season with a record-shattering 13 consecutive clean-sheet record in the Spartan Shield.

I am who I am because of the people before me.

Forthright and candid, Ghant takes an enormous bulk of leadership in the team. He coordinates the team in terms of tactics and wider buildup-and-recessions during matches. He struggles with positioning, therefore, but his vision is unmatched.

“If I took a dollar for all the things our Vice has done out of position I would be rich at this point.”

However, for all his accomplishments, shades of grey illuminate his career. Isolated with severe social anxiety and depression in his high school career, he was never the collaborative man you thought he ought to be.

I hate the hypocritical gesture. People I thought I could rely on but later turn their pockets out. Let me control you myself.

He since took the destinies of all with the majority knowing little than himself. Providing a twisted head on his shoulders, the captain, alongside Ghant, made a formidable duo.

You are the one I can rely on: Porcupine. Let’s lead Demos together.

Name: Ghant Fedoriyuvkos
Nickname: Porcupine
Region of Origin: Demos
League: Series Division I

Preferred Foot: Left

“Why do you have so much energy?”

Work. That’s all it is really. People look at the best with no mindset of the best. How laughable wouldn’t you say?

Torso’s stretching, weights lifting and push-ups-a-straining is the “past-time” of what is otherwise the most athletic member of the team.

In the regional football trials he, notably, was the only one who would practice his techniques after-hours and his performance was a testament to his hard work: he achieved first in the rankings within the Yellow-Blue Lock. This was a trial of all U18s in the region for the regional first-team selections.

“The most talented of his generation.”

This statement by others who knew him is exactly representative of who he was. He wanted the gold to be drunk by his own mouth. He was asked what he does it all for to which he says:

I want the girls: their blood pressure must shoot through the roof.

About Solarampa

Solarampa is large, bustling country that stretches from sea to sea and from the top of mountains to the bottom of caves. Governed by a parliament, Solarampa has a broad and diverse political scene, holding parliamentary elections every 4 years alongside Presidential elections every 4 years. The current President, Solar President Martin Tomek, is credited for helping develop the soccer scene in Solarampa, to the degree where his son is currently on the national team as a backup. Despite soccer being a very new sport in the grand scheme of things, the fans of Solarampa travel well, as the government, in honor of this momentous occasion, has supported fans in their travel efforts to other countries. Dressed in gold and red, Solarampa fans are known to get rowdy whether they win or lose, with some even sneaking in flares to celebrate potential wins.

About Solarampan Soccer

Unlike many sports within the nation of Solarampa, soccer only recently grew out of the depths of casual play among friends and the occasional rise and fall of small leagues. The growth of soccer’s popularity can be attributed to a combination of funding from the federal government into low-popularity sports and an animated TV show about soccer taking the nation by storm. To accommodate this newfound popularity, the federal government of Solarampa created the Solar Soccer Association, a government-run soccer association that would manage and develop a unitary soccer league ranging from the Radiant Premier League to your weekend pub league.

The Solar Soccer Association is structured in a hierarchical format that utilizes a system of promotion and relegation to give the opportunity for all teams to have a chance at moving to the coveted Radiant Premier League. The top five league is where most of the main talent resides in Solarampan soccer, as each league contains 24 teams with 3 teams being promoted and 3 being relegated at the end of each season. Past the top 5 are the broken up regional leagues, considered to be a chokepoint for many prospective teams due to how grueling the process is to be promoted out of the 6th League. The 6th League is divided by north, south, east, and west, where 32 teams reside in every region attempting to qualify for the promotional playoff where only 3 teams move into the 5th League. Below that is League 8, where 8 regional leagues reside across the country; at this point, the divide between serious competitors and more fun play begins to start blurring. Finally the 9th league, 16 regional leagues are located here, where new clubs or casual teams compete, rarely will many get past League 8 if they’re promoted, but there have been a few cases of teams making meteoric rises.

The first few years of Solarampan soccer saw chaos among the leagues, as many teams sought to quickly qualify for the Radiant Premier League. The chaos began to settle later on, where the federal government made the choice to form an exploratory committee into creating a national soccer team to begin competing in international competitions. A few clubs competed in international club tournaments, but this was a huge step forward for the nation as a whole. After a long process of registering internationally, forming a solid staff, and hosting tryouts, the first ever Solarampan National Soccer Squad was solidified, hoping to enter the World Cup

Though many are hopeful for a strong run into the World Cup, the coaching staff and government are more tempered in their expectations, the squad will be going into their first ever international tournament against many teams that have had way more experience than them. The hope for the team is that they make a respectable showing against their opponents; making the knockout round would be an amazing achievement for such a young squad. However, all the people can do now is wait to see what happens to the Solarampan National Team and if they are able to make a miracle run.

Manager: Matt Gilbert (59)
Named as manager when the previous choice opted to sign on as an assistant manager for a club team overseas. Rather than re-open the search process, the Board of Directors chose to offer the job to Gilbert when their original second choice turned them down. Gilbert is seen as a caretaker manager for the current World Cup cycle, as he has been named league president for the Travantan Premier League.

Assistant managers: Lisa Beaupre (41), works with the defense and defensive midfielders; Chris Barclay (43), works with the forwards and attacking middies; Chloe Wilkerson (45), goalkeepers' coach

ROSTER (starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS
1 Scott Aubrey, 29 5-foot-11, 175 pounds

As close to a veteran as the Terns have between the goalposts. He's expected to serve as a steadying presence for a very inexperienced team.
23 Noah Frost, 21, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds
He's considered the future of the program. He's got lightning-fast reflexes but often is too aggressive coming off his line or possessing the ball.

DEFENSE
2 Joel Addison, 24 5-foot-11, 179 pounds
3 Tim Ragsdale, 25 6-foot-2, 210 pounds
4 Kevin Brantley, 27 6-foot, 200 pounds. TEAM CAPTAIN

(nicknamed Wit or Wittie)
6 Joan Aston, 30, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds

MIDFIELDERS
8 Ben Nottingham, 22 5-foot-11, 185 pounds(plays defensive midfielder; alternate captain)
9 Jen Proteau, 24 5-foot-10, 155 pounds (left winger known for ball-control and occasional daring runs)
10 Gordon Escobar, 26 5-foot-9, 165 pounds (playmaking middie who's the proverbial straw that stirs the drink)
12 Jeff Ransom, 25 6-foot, 175 pounds (right winger with great pace)

13 Carlos Javier, 19 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (depth defensive midfielder with modest skill)
19 Kwame Lassiter, 23 5-foot-11, 200 pounds (depth option as playmaker with a little bit of physicality in the event the Terns battle a more physical opponent)

FORWARDS
11 Jonah Jameson 28 6-foot-4, 220 pounds (big, bruising striker with blinding speed, but relatively limited ball skills)
14 George Rodney 23 5-foot-11, 185 pounds (pacey player who could serve as playmaker in a pinch)

16 ELoise Tompkins 24 5-foot-8, 135 pounds

About Riandera
Riandera, officially the Eternal Kingdom of Riandera, is a massive and diverse archipelagic constitutional monarchy in the South Pacific, ruled by Raja (King) Bayu IV of the Sutanto dynasty. His wife Melati is the Permaisuri Ratu (Queen Consort), while their eldest son Putra (Prince) Darma is the heir to the throne. The Prime Minister of Riandera is Fernanda Guterres (Democratic Party; PDR), and the Vice Prime Minister is Yolanah Siti Hasanah. The current Opposition Minister is Putu Arya Kevin Sari (Far Right Party; Pakjaria).

Riandera is located in Aszya, and more than 389 million people call the Eternal Kingdom home. Its capital is Langkamata, a melting pot of the old and the new. The Eternal Kingdom is divided into three regions which are based on archipelagoes: Hutapan, Berliana (Kepulauan Berlian) and Waraudaya. Riandera has eight provinces, which have their own governor.

Soccer in Riandera
Colored television first came in Riandera in the mid 70's. Rianderan television channels started opening up to international business, and started having their own broadcast of the IRL World Cup in 1978. Viewers became interested, and started playing the sport. Soccer then became such a popular sport, that a national governing body (ASBR) was created in 1982. It established the first Rianderan soccer league a year later. The men's national team was created in 1986, and the women's national team was created two years later. Despite its popularity, Riandera never competed at the international stage until present day. Riandera attempted competing at the 1996 Aszya Cup, but did not qualify. They also attempted competing at the same tournament 20 years later, but failed to make it past qualifiers. They qualified for the 2024 Pasifika Cup, but didn't make it past the Round of 16. The Rafflesias previously competed at the 24th Independent Associations Championship (IAC), but failed to make it past group stage.

Venues
Kubah Olahraga BanSur (the BanSur Sports Dome) shall be the venue for home games in Riandera. Completed in 2013, this stadium has a seating capacity of 82,500. It has notable for being the venue for the friendly vs The Golden Harp. Kubah Olahraga BanSur is located in the sports-centered city of Bandar Suryana, and is the largest football stadium in Riandera.

Summary
Kelssek's tactical culture is fluid and direct, generally favouring technical and versatile players. Within each positional group, players are listed in order of the likelihood they will play.

Dominic Tessier GK, Latrobe Athletic, b. Latrobe (age 24) - 8 caps | Tall, commanding, aggressive. Has been the next goalkeeping talent for a long time now, and finally breaking through for both club and country.
Maxime Carrieri GK, CF Outineau, b. Outineau (age 28) - 18 caps | Agile shot-stopping keeper, can really launch his goal kicks.
Megan Woodwell GK, Burnaby SC (age 30) - 309 caps | Commanding keeper who aggressively attacks high balls and can be relied on to harangue teammates at full blast.
Jenas Maraipu GK, Kirkenes FC, b. Outineau, BL (age 33) - 50 caps | A product of the Association Ariddienne youth program. Pounces and catches balls with catlike technique.
Alison Troczynski GK, Latrobe Athletic, b. Latrobe (age 32) - 10 caps | Jack of all goalkeeping skills, master of some. Affable but also odd in the way goalkeepers can tend to be.

Alain-Elric Sauvé LB, CF Outineau, b. Outineau, Bea. (age 28) - 33 caps | Aggressive interceptor of the ball and incisive on the overlap
James Jouppi LB, Shearwater, b. Coquitlam, Kon. (age 24) - 20 caps, 2 goals | Talented, inconsistent, exciting
Ella Bastien LB, Baskita [PAS], b. Elmira, Kon. (age 29) - 21 caps, 2 goals | A late bloomer who went off to Xanneria when unable to make headway in Kelssek, and has now found a groove in Pasarga.
Sandrine Lalande CB, Tihon [CMT], b. Saint-Richard, BL (age 26) - 26 caps, 2 goals | Tough tackler able to pinpoint a long ball through the lines, the next big thing in centre-backs.
Iain Vergland CB, Sivolvia Central, b. Burnaby (age 29) - 25 caps | Wasn't good enough for Burnaby SC, and now with an IFCF Champions League medal he sure showed them.
Bleke Durocher CB, Mar Sara [VAL], b. Mineru, Kon. (age 31) - 28 caps | Was in Kelssek Championship team of the year so quite good apparently.
Anton Zivkovic CB, Rockies International [INS], b. Ostendar, NCy (age 22) - 7 caps | Large defensive unit you don't want to go shoulder to shoulder with.
Volodymyr Casiraghi RB/LB, Océanic CF, b. Langlois (age 22) - 12 caps, 2 goals | Talented tackler with quick feet and pace.
Sorcha Cleeves RB, Océanic CF, b. Kirkenes, NC (age 26) - 7 caps, 1 goal | Overlooked by the clubs in her home republic, burst onto the scene when she seized a spot in Océanic's Championship-winning side through sheer speed and chance-creating ability from out wide.
Daeved Rillter CB, Real Anasb [SAT], b. Novonaya, LP (age 23) - 1 cap | No-nonsense beefcake who is going to win most physical contests. Favourite anime is Attack on Leviticus Train: Industrial Policy
Taras Paulkin CB, Tikariot City [TKT], b. Kirkenes, NC (age 25) - 2 caps | Always has a keen eye to nip in for the intercept.
Lourence Hupe CB, CF Outineau (age 25) - 11 caps | Elite positioning means she doesn't often have to put in one of her precise tackles.
Jérôme Nyhof RB, Eyrods [CMT], b. Langlois, Bea. (age 23) - 17 caps, 1 goal | Elite dribbling, skills, and athleticism with a penchant for reckless tackles.
Eilwen Loew RB/LB, Guard FC [DAR], b. Burnaby, Kon. (age 30) - 34 caps | Speedy, high work-rate, binge-watches reality TV shows.

Titan Pogbacar CM, Mâ Âlâmëómë, b. Burnaby, Kon. (age 26) - 68 caps, 13 goals | Physically imposing and technically impressive. Ball-progressing wonderkid who can really get on his bike.
Kaiden Pépin CM/AM [captain], Sivolvia Capitalizt, b. Saint-Richard (age 33) - 78 caps, 4 goals | Calming presence in the midfield who always knows how to control the pace.
Agapeto Licea CM/DM, Burnaby SC, b. Mineru, Kon. (age 25) - 40 caps, 1 goal | A strangely chaotic yet firm defensively-minded midfielder.
Logane Nordet DM, CF Outineau, b. Outineau (age 27) - 16 caps | Being the rock of a team that wins the Champions League is one way to get the national team's attention.
Sofie Mylonakis AM/CF, Kitara AA [BNJ], b. Kirkenes (age 28) - 17 caps, 4 goals | Come for the set piece skills, stay for the link-up play.
Errol Lìos CM/AM, Soldarian [VAL], (age 28) - 23 caps, 1 goal | Box-to-box midfielder who always seems to put himself into the thick of it.
Alberto Rendon CM/AM, Anomalies [CMT], b. Kirkenes (age 29) - 18 caps, 2 goals | Advanced playmaker who always wants the ball. A midfield guided-missile destroyer. Farfadillis dual national.
Sammy Mao RW/CF, Shearwater, b. Breton, Ha. (age 26) - 38 caps, 8 goals | Explosive pace and can cross or shoot from range.
Ariane Hirji RW, Burnaby SC, b. Burnaby, Kon. (age 22) - 4 caps, 1 goal | Quick dribbler, likes to get to the byline and/or skin her marker down the touchline
Logane Hannigan CM, Latrobe Athletic, b. Kingstown, Kon. (age 28) - 5 caps | Playmaking midfielder who came onto the radar relatively late in her career
Simeon Rutvica DM, Port Rhovanyon [TKT], b. Vickery, Con. (age 26) - 0 caps |
Chike Obident RW/AM, CF Outineau, b. Latrobe (age 27) - 60 caps, 12 goals | High-skill spark plug of a player who's already proven offensive producer at multiple clubs.
Emre Massinen AM/CF, Clayquot City, b. Clayquot (age 25) - 12 caps, 2 goals | Has two killer moves: the pivot-and-shoot, and a nose for link-up play. Otherwise highly average.
Medyson Consðntin RM, CS Saint-Rémy, b. , Bea. (age 22) - 0 caps
Éric Pinard AM, CF Outineau, b. Outineau, Kon. (age 25) - 0 caps
Julius Heer LW, Schemerdrecht SVV [KOR], b. Bramleigh, NC (age 33) - 76 caps, 9 goals | Full-backs HATE his technical ability and his love of nutmegging them on the byline. Has a koi fish tattoo on his left arm for some reason.

Rolando Cutter CF/LW, Olympia Borograd [STL], b. Kingstown, Kon. (age 21) - 40 caps, 12 goals | Allegedly the next Colm Ó Tuathail. Great technical player with a tendency to drift wide.
Rémy Niemi ST, CF Outineau, b. Outineau, Bea. (age 22) - 33 caps, 19 goals | Adept at playing the target-man or poacher role. Doesn't know his used socks are being traded on the dark web.
Ariana Coulter ST, Latrobe Athletic, b. Kildera (age 26) - 11 caps, 3 goals | Quick trickster who likes to go for the spectacular.
Lionel an Deòir ST, FK Metropola Borograd [STL] b. Torbay, KE (age 30) - 84 caps, 37 goals | Has an inadvisedly powerful shot. Prolific but scores in bunches - or maybe that's a nice way of saying "inconsistent". Pacey but declining stamina.
Zoé Goh-Lemaire ST, Raynor City United [VAL], b. Kirkenes (age 33) - 52 caps, 13 goals | Playmaking forward with great link up play and a sense for gobbling up rebounds.
Ryan Hartzell ST, Swangard Athletic [QUE], b. Llandewi, NCy (age 25) - 4 caps, 1 goal | Promising big guy up front power forward who also has a poacher's instinct for loose balls in the box
Rian Teokotai AM/ST, Raynor City United, b. Outineau, Bea. (age 22) - 2 caps, 1 goal

Head coach: Obey Chidiebere [BNJ], age 54 | Hired away from Latrobe Athletic, where he won one league title and three Patriotes Cups, he previously played for Herzegovina City and Coquitlam United.

Honours: Cup of Harmony 43 champions, 2-time Ad'ihan Challenge Trophy winners
Direct free-kicks: Julius Heer, Sofie Mylonakis
Corners: Chike Obident, Julius Heer, Nacuémiró Buené
Penalties: Lionel an Deòir

Stadiums - Rotates between three stadiums.
Stadium of the Workers, Neorvins (cap. 66,700) - if you RP first and are not fussed to pick, use this one
Bowreach, Vickery (cap. 39,000) - Home of Strathcona Internationals. At high altitude and in a climate that alternates between freezing winters and scorching summers.
Stade des Pacifiques, Langlois (cap. 44,000)

Fan culture
Kelssek's national teams are nicknamed the Voyagers in reference to the fact that major international tournaments are practically always in a different region and many time zones away (unless Kelssek is hosting it, of course).
Maybe Tomorrow is common to all national teams:
Voyagers, they keep on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be
Onward Kelssek, the shout from everyone
Step by step, fighting on, till glory's won
Maybe tomorrow, our journey will be done
Until tomorrow, we'll just keep movin' on

Tune: "Maybe Tomorrow" (Littlest Hobo theme song)

Summer of 46 is sport-specific, and references the hosting of World Cup 46, the watershed in soccer actually becoming popular in Kelssek.
Got my first real football
Played it on a plastic pitch
Rubber pellets went everywhere
It was the cycle of forty-six
Oh when I look back now
Thought that it would last forever
Those were the football glory days

Tune: Summer of '69

XANNERIAN MAROONS NATION FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WC 100 (Aka The Soft Reboot)

Italics= most likely to start

GOALKEEPRS

#0 Matt Cooper (M 6'1" - Age 31 - Austin City)
#1 Xavi Osuna (M 5'9" - Age 27 - Powell Rovers)
#2 Kelly Marcqwell (F 5'10" - Age 33 -Alexandria City)

QUICK NOTES: Matt Cooper is the clear starter here, the Austin City stopper is a pretty traditional keeper. Behind him though are two of the finest Grasshoppers (Xannerian slang for shorter GKs that rely on jumping ability) the nation has produced. Xavi Osuna of second tier Powell Rovers is largely seen as the slightly more talented goalkeeper, but many think his status on a second tier team left him as the secondary keeper.

LEFT BACK
#14 Kyle Effridge-Galles (M 6'2" Age 25 - Hawthorne Kickers)
#33 Rebecca Jackridge (F 5'11 Age 27 - Capital FC)
#45 Shawn Forester (M 6'2" Age 23 - Alexandria City)

QUICK NOTES: Right Back is powered by Kyle Effridge-Galles a monstrous thick man from the Hawthorne Kickers. Kyle is also what many in the Xannerian media are saying will be the most carded man in his qualifying group. The Xannerian refs are notorious for their lax philosophy when it comes to carding players thus creating a significantly more physical game where contact isn't encouraged but is not carded either. Behind Effridge-Galles is Rebecca Jackridge, the Capital FC veteran, a player who has been an elite DB but is on the smaller side for what the Maroons NT wants out of their defenders.

CENTER BACK
#4 Lora Bennington (F 5'7" - Age 23 - Hawthorne Kickers)
#7 Benson Brugges (M 5'9" - Age 34 - Capital FC)
#99 Jurickson Cincinatticus (M 5'10" - Age 20 - Capital University)

QUICK NOTES: The CB position isn't quite as brooding and violent as the Right back or left back spot. Lora Bennington's elite passing makes up for her lack of height and jump ball ability. One playe to look out for is Jurickson Cincinatticus. A college prospect (which is super common in Xanneria btw).

RIGHT BACK

#3 Kareem Slater (M 6'3" - Age 33 - Bearden)
#7 Aurora Reynolds (F 6'0" - Age 24 - Galaxy SC)
#25 Mark Thomas-Gibraltar (M 6'0" - Age 25 - Austin City)

QUICK NOTES: Tall, gothic right back Aurora Reynolds, looks to be the favorite to get most of the starts for the Maroons. The lanky curly-haired blonde even goes as far as wearing eyeliner on matchdays. Many have called the former Myrtle University star the most intimidating player to go up against in FLOX. Another intimidating player to go up against is Kareem Slater, the 6'3" star defender for Bearden is expected to see plenty of action on the NT as the plan has been called to have him be the primary substitute for Aurora. Also making the Squad is Mark Thomas-Gibralter, a doe eyed 25 year old who will likely see time as an alternate sub, and has flexibility to move between RB and RDM.

DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS

#6 Hailey King-Stouffer (F 5'10" Age 23 - Austin City)
#8 Marla Sanchez (F 5'8" - Age 30 - Galaxy SC)
#10 Wayne Brady (M 5'10" - Age 25 - Hawthorne Kickers)
#21 Harrison Felton (M 6'2" - Age 22 - Pearlham SC)
#24 Gene Baptiste Kwandahar (M 6'0" - Age 30 - York Metrostars)
#77 Dillon Daley (M 6'1" - Age 20 - University of Anclare)

QUICK NOTES: With Defensive midfielders largely based on their dribbling and passing ability, and there's none as good of a pure passer as Wayne Brady. There's also none as overtly fast an easily worn out as Wayne Brady. There's also not a Defensive midfielder as substituted as often as Wayne Brady. Expect to see him as the earliest substitution in your matches. Also the FLOX is hoping to see a bit out of prospect Dillon Daley, as he's expected to see plenty of time as a substitute as the FLOX teams are hoping to use this qualifier as a testbed of sorts to see how he can do in FLOX.

OFFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS

#11 Dennis Greene (M 6'0" Age 35 - Hawthorne Kickers)
#19 Roslyn Caldwell (F 5'8" Age 23 - Alexandria City)
#25 Kelvan Schroeder (M 6'4" Age 28 - Galaxy SC)
#29 Keelan Boyle (M - Age 23 - Alexandria City)
#37 Reed Todd-Grisham (M - Age 32 - Bearden)
#88 Braxler Hutton (M Age 19 - University of Leitner)

QUICK NOTES: Oh Boy Braxler Hutton, has their ever been a prospect from Xanneria like Braxler Hutton. Hutton is an elite passer and can score when needed. He's also a fratish 19 year old blonde kid who's a sophomore and captain of one of the best footy teams in the AICS (The governing body of Xannerian college athletics). So there is a reason he's being put on the same team as 34-year-old Dennis Greene. The vet is hoping to teach the kid and you know that's going to make some executives on the reams excited in the next couple years. The other name to look out for in the roster is Roslyn Caldwell. The blonde bomber as she is known is renowned for long passes that are accurate too. she's going to pair up with Hutton in the OM most matches.

RIGHT WINGER

#5 Hakeem Thurman (M 6'1" Age 24 - Austin City)
#23 Xanadu Rutherford (M 6'0" - Age 24 - Galaxy SC)
#34 Dallas Krmric (M 6'2" - Age 25 - Hawthorne Kickers)

QUICK NOTES: Look out guys, here comes Xanadu Rutherford. Xanadu has been tearing it up as of late and is the hottest scorer. His contemporary from the rival Austin City is Hakeem "the Dream" Thurman. The Right Winger out of Austin has one of the most beautiful touches in all of Xanerria.

LEFT WINGER

#16 Burleigh Longwood-Quinn (M 6'2" Age 27 - Alexandria City)
#30 Tracey Heron (F 5'6" Age 24 - Galaxy SC)
#90 Owen Kyffin (M 5'9" Age 23 - Hawthorne Kickers)

QUICK NOTES: I would expect this to be the position that gets the most balance of starts between the three players. I feel like long term this is Owen Kyffyn's spot to lose, but for now I think The Maroons are going to see a lot of rotation at this spot.

STRIKER

#9 Houston Rutherford (M 6'3" Age 24 - Austin City)
#91 Jason Rutherford (M 5'11" Age 30 - Hawthorne Kickers)
#93 Mylo Halfrey-Hawkins (M 6'0" Age 22 - Galaxy SC)

QUICK NOTES: Family ties run deep at the striker spot. Houston Rutherford should take the spot on the team as primary scoring threat, though you should watch out for older brother Jason. Also unsurprising is that new Galaxy SC signing Mylo Halfrey-Hawkins will also make it into the rotation for the Maroons. The Pearlham University product should figure into a few goals here and there int he qualifiers too.

For quick reference/TL:DR squad info, scroll down to bottom of this post.

Note on age classifications:
unk = unknown
Xat’i and Pterons mature faster than humanoids but also have shorter lifespans. They reach adulthood around the age of 3, considered at their prime between 5 and 15, will think about retirement around their mid-to-late 20’s and their life expectancy is around 55.

Note on gender classification:
Gender in Paradystopia falls into three categories across five classifications. The categories are male, female and non-binary, with male and female both subdivided into cisgendered and electively gendered. As such, 'Mc' equates to a cisgendered male, and 'Fe' would equate to an electively gendered female (or, more commonly known throughout the multiverse as a transgender woman.) For the most part, the average Paradystopi* would only state their gender category when asked. Full classifications are included here for completeness.

*By average Paradystopi, I refer to the human population. The Pterons and Xat'i will just give their biological sex and couldn't really care less if their perceived gender appears contrary to this. Neither species' natural language features gendered pronouns and their views of biological sex bears little relevance to them beyond if it's pertinent to know whether one could or could not nurse their young.

Key:

Kit Number. Position - Name (with kit name bolded)
Race(Gender) - Age - Current Club
Goalkeepers
First Team

1. GK - Sjiu Can't make it, has furballs or something
Xat'i(Fc) - 4 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
Sjiu is a truly outstanding goalkeeper, and the best player in the Paradystopi squad by a fair margin. With, for want of better terminology, cat-like reflexes and agility, her shot-stopping is second-to-none. Despite her relatively small stature, her ability to pounce through the air means she can dominate her penalty area against strikers twice her size as well as cover a much larger percentage of her net than would seem possible in one-on-one situations. Her main drawbacks are that she enjoys playing the sweeper keeper role and has been known to be caught in no-man's-land when the team lose possession, and that she will almost always opt to punch the ball away rather than catch it which can lead to giving possession straight back to the attackers.

31. GK - Filthy (vc)
Baboon(Mc) - unk - Image Erroropolis SC
Filthy is a good boy who doesn't viciously maul people quite as often as everyone says.

Substitutes/Reserves

12. GK - Klara av Steinbruddet Can't make it. What a shame.
Human(Fc) - 27 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
22. GK - Zlatana Nykwyst
Nope. Didn't want her anyway.
Human(Fc) - 27 - Image Farslum Hoo SC
00. GK - A very large sack of Turnips
Turnips(NB?) - unk - unattached

One has to feel for av Steinbruddet and Nykwyst. Both very capable goalkeepers in their own right, but when it's someone as technically gifted, and young, as Sjiu wearing the number 1 jersey, you have to wonder if they will ever get any international caps. That said, both of these two as training partners can only help Sjiu develop her game further.
Should Filthy get himself sended off. He'll be replaced with a large sack of turnips which should completely block the goal.

Defenders
First Team

2. CB/LIB - Jim (vc) Too busy doing chess or something.
Penguin(Mc) - unk - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
There are few words to summarise Jim, though 'An enigma in penguin form' is probably the closest. Outwardly, there would seem to be little remarkable about this penguin and his inclusion in the team liable to be disregarded as 'Paradystopia being Paradystopia'. However, Jim is brilliant at what he does, and that is being in the right place at the right time. You think your attacker is in space? Nope, there's Jim. You think your winger just made a beautiful cross-field pass to switch play and continue the attack? Nope, there's Jim. You think you've got a midfielder free on the edge of the box to hammer home a screamer? Yeah? Nope, Jim's there to block it. How he does it, no-one has the foggiest but you can be utterly certain that he will be a frustrating thorn in the side of your attempts to attack us.
Jim is the team's vice-captain, despite no-one being able to understand him. Now that's Paradystopia being Paradystopia ...

3. LCB - Patrick Smith-Cocker
Too busy being old.
Human(Mc) - 33 - Image SC Oldetoun New Newetoun
As the senior figure of the FLoP9's most miserly defence, it is hoped that Patrick Smith-Cocker can bring some of his defensive knowledge and experience to a rather scant Paradystopi back line. A classic no-nonsense centre back who's sure to make any attacker he's marking well aware of his presence. A strong, sturdy and reliable workhorse at the back who'll put his body on the line for his team without a second thought.

4. RCB - Janika van der Stedd
Had a note from her mum saying she's to be excused.
Human(Fe) - 29 - Image AC Urbsclavoszydensanorjens
The lynchpin of the Ossies back three, Janika van der Stedd is a wily and tactically astute defensive player. She is a skillful tackler, as well as being known in her home team for having good vision to play the right passes to start attacks flowing. She is particularly useful from long range dead ball opportunities being more than capable of whipping a free kick from around the half way line dangerously into the box. Whilst she's unlikely to take any of the closer range free kicks, she definitely an option to attempt to hammer home a screamer from 35 yards out.

14. CB - Clyve Fish

Human(Mc) - 20 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
23. DF - Karen Yes, Karen fits the master plan
Penguin(Fc) - unk - Image Random Penguins XI

Of the defensive substitutes, they are mostly like-for-like switches for the human players. Experienced centre backs in Zidarić and Fish, whilst a bit of international experience for the younger Doggle. Karen is in no way comparable to Jim, but given she is his partner, her selection is thought to be in part to keep Jim in good spirits throughout the tournament.

Midfielders
First Team

5. CM - Kiaren Schlippe (c) Too embarrassed to captain such a poor team
Human(Mc) - 25 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
Taking the reins of captain from Anja Bortland in the Campionato Esportiva 41, Kiaren is an able defensive midfielder with invaluable skills as a playmaker, and whose aptitude for long passing makes him an asset to the team. Cool, calm, and collected, a steady selection for team captain.

6. CM - Leonard Lugga
Playing at finance in Taxhavn, also, not Wight
Human(Mc) - 23 - Sturm Havn (TAX)
Following his transfer to Sturm Havn, Leonard Lugga solidifies his first team place in his secondary position in the middle of the field. A possible justification for this is the physical presence Leonard brings to the midfield. He is a bold and powerful player who isn't afraid of imposing himself upon opponents and taking his tackles a little on the 'meaty' side. Providing his can tweak his ability at crossing the ball into playing long balls forward, he should be able to supply ample threats to account for his selection.

7. LM - Sosjian
Too busy cleaning his crotch
Xat'i(Mc) - 10 - Image SC Oldetoun New Newetoun
Of all the Xat'i in the squad, Sosjian is probably the most tactically aware. This could well be due to him playing his football in a predominantly humanoid team rather than amongst other Xat'i. As a result, he is also the most likely of the Xat'i (other than Sjiu) to actually seek to pass when in possession. He has a strong positional awareness which, coupled with a rapid turn of speed, could see him winning interceptions in enemy territory or simply being quick to strike on a careless pass. Given that his sheer pace alone will make him a nuisance to mark, the decision to play him as a winger could be a masterstroke.

8. RM - Hleqrru
Wandered off somewhere
Xat'i(Mc) - 7 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
Retaining his place in the national team, Hleqrru now finds himself on the right flank. Given the laissez-faire approach to formations of the Xat'i, this is no major issue. Hleqrru is at his best when given the opportunity to challenge defenders and move with the ball, and it is hoped that playing on the wing will provide this. As he is used to playing a more defensively-minded role within Xat'i Paradystopi, he is the most likely of the Xat'i starters to actually track back and will likely gravitate to something more akin to a wing-back. Expect to see him tirelessly chasing opponents the full length of the right wing, looking to gain possession and begin his own attacks.

Substitutes/Reserves

16. MF - Soks Wants to quit football to pursue a career in interpretive dance
Xat'i(Fc) - 4 - Image New Newetoun Saltquarry SC
17. MF - Olii Is ... actually no, Olii can play

18. CM - Clifford Stone Has to seek medical attention for flatulence
Human(Mc) - 29 - Image SC Oldetoun New Newetoun
24. CM - Dillon Blade

40. MF - Grumpy Gustavus
Goose(Mc) - unk - unattached
41. MF - NPN Ball Cannon X-4000
Robot?(NB) - unk - unattached

As with the defenders, the midfield replacements are there-or-thereabouts like-for-like options. Soks and Olii can switch in for Sosjian or Hleqrru, and Stone and Blade can switch in for Lugga or Schlippe. Given the high intensity nature of the Xat'i tactics, it's very feasible that the two Xat'i subs will see playing time. There's also the possibly they could see some playing time upfront depending upon how a match pans out.
Grumpy Gustavus is this angry goose I found at a nearby pond. He seems perfect to bring on as an impact sub to disruptify opposition midfields. There's also a football air cannon I bought online which, although someone would have to drag it around the pitch, can take a mean free kick or penalty. If you set it up correctly.

Forwards
First Team

9. CF - Sebastien Borgen Currently being set on fire, or addicted to lithium, or both
Human(Mc) - 28 - Image Dí Maozöxê (FFD)
After an impressive Campionato Esportiva campaign, Sebastien Borgen has firmly warranted his place as national team centre forward. An archetypal big, strong forward, his height and strength allow him to act as a target man as well as hold up play in the opposition half and act as a go-between amidst the dynamic attacks and mazy runs of the Xat'i. One of his best attributes is his intelligence; knowing when he can draw a foul, knowing when to release a team-mate to best foil the offside trap, knowing whether or not to take that extra step. He can be a handful to fend off, and with all the Xat'i attacking options, that's the last thing any opponent needs.

10. LF - Rhiagr
Not good enough
Xat'i(Fc) - 8 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
Like her other Xat'i brethren, Rhiagr is quick, agile and without fear when challenging opposition defenders. Where she distinguishes herself from the other Xat'i is her ability in the air. With jumping prowess that rivals Sjiu, Rhiagr can prove very difficult to contain during corners, or wide dead-ball opportunities and can often somehow rise above the crowd to send the ball goalward.

11. RF - Rsheu
Has to be treated for worms
Xat'i(Mc) - 4 - Image Xat'i Paradystopi
Despite his young age, Rsheu is making waves up front for Xat'i Paradystopi and was the FLoP9's leading goalscorer by a ridiculous margin. Nippy and tenacious, he is a tricky customer to deal with for even the most experienced defender. On top of this, he possesses a deft finish and an unquenchable thirst for scoring. Some question his lack of maturity and the hubris this brings but when he can back up his talents with cold, hard statistics in the league, it's hard to make a worthwhile argument for not having him in the squad.

99. FW - Error Message (c)
Human?(Mc) - unk - Image Erroropolis SC
Error is the greatest footballer ever to grace a football field anywhere. There is no-one comparible. I am He is a former clone of a now defunct nation whose utter genius is mistaken by many as madness and/or insanity but ask yourself this, would an insane person think they could capture international football's greatest prize with only a squad of penguins, a single xat, a rabid baboon, and a sack of root vegetables? Well? Exactly!

Iona Schlippe once again finds herself as the impact sub who can bring a different style of play to the field than Borgen. Of the other three, they're all youngsters who've made strong starts in the league and if they can translate that youthful vigour and enthusiasm to the international stage, well, who knows what's possible.

Manager

Pepé Papa Evil despicable nasty person who doesn't deserve to be a football manager
Human(Mc) - 59 - of Qyzzyxzyan Draconic Territories
Very little is known about Pepé Papa beyond that he apparently used to be the Pope of one of the islands off to the north of Paradystopia. Something about a dragon too. His spur-of-the-moment hiring has raised many eyebrows amongst the Paradystopi footballing community who, whilst hoping for something surprising, are inclined to think that the hiring committee just found some random junkie to put in charge because the ensuing chaos will likely make for good television, or something like that. There's actually a good many conspiracy theories doing the rounds as to whom this mysterious new manager is with the singular point they agree on being that 'former Dragonpope' is just too stupid to be the truth.

Whilst Pepé Papa might have some overblown and in-depth tactical explanations of how he expects the team to play, the main gist of his approach boils down to a semi-aggressive Route One strategy with an emphasis on expansive Wing Play. We will be constantly looking to play long balls to either release one of the Xat'i players in behind your defence, or give one of your defenders the unenviable task of challenging Sebastien Borgen in the air, who'll be looking to feed a Xat'i player into space. We aim to run your defence ragged until they invariably (hopefully) break.
Defensively, we will fall back to sit and soak up pressure, but with an eye on the next quick breakaway once we reclaim possession. As such, we are probably a little susceptible to counter-attacking teams (or counter-counter-attacks), but we're confident enough in our goalkeeper and Jim's peculiar ability to be in the right place at the right time to nullify the majority of these threats.

Nope nope nope. Rubbish rubbish rubbish. Pepe Papa is a stinky butt-face who knows nothing. Give the ball to Error and Error will score all the goals required to win the World Cup. Simple.

Generalised roles:

#1 & #2:
Sjiu and Jim will play as sweepers at the back, marshalling the defence and covering where needs to be covered.

#3, #4, #5, & #6
Smith-Cocker, van der Stedd, Schlippe, and Lugga will form a sort of defensive square. They will try to maintain their positions more rigidly than others on the field, though can flatten out into a back four if the situation calls for it. They will look to hold possession between themselves until one of them spots an appropriate long-ball.

#7, #8, #10, & #11
The roving Xat'i attack force. Sosjian and Hleqrru will look for spaces out wide to run into. Rhiagr and Rsheu will look for any spaces behind your defence and opportunities to beat the offside trap. Good luck marking all four of them. They will press your players in your half too. If we could get them to track back and pitch in with defensive duties reliably, we'd have a truly problematic team for any opponent.

#9
Sebastien Borgen's role is kind of a utility forward. Generally, he'll act as a classic centre forward but depending on what the Xat'i are up to, he could also drop into more of a false 9 position, or some sort of attacking sweeper.

Also crap. Total rubbish. Give ball to Error. Let Error score. Error is the saviour of Paradystopi football. The End! Piyao!

Soggybottom, Oldetoun, New Newetoun (26,750 capacity) No, not here. There's rats. Or a burst pipe. Maybe a pipe filled with rats burst. Either way, we can't play here because reasons.

The home of Paradystopi football, and named by a poll of fans, the host venue for the 23rd IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy and 23rd Rising Stars Cup was built upon the site of the oldest football pitch used in Paradystopia. Renovated extensively to accommodate the IFCF competitions, Soggybottom is now the perennial venue of the FLoP Rondeau final. Based in the affluent suburb of Oldetoun, the stadium is a stone's throw away from much of the best things the Paradystopi capital has to offer.

Penguin Research Base 'Foxtrot', Bognobb, Municipality of Erroropolis (0 capacity - Restricted access)

All Paradystopi matches will take place on a small remote island a short way off the coast of Erroropolis. Sadly for any travelling fans, all matches in Paradystopia will have to take place behind closed doors. Namely because the island barely has room for a football pitch nevermind any spectator stands or anything like that. It's nothing to do with it being suitably secretive that the general Paradystopi populace would never find out that the World Cup is happening. Nothing like that at all. How could you think such a thing?

About Seeberg

The Gemeinschaft of Seeberg is a small and landlocked country located high up in the misty mountains. It is a unitary state governed by the Landsrat. The political structure is semi-parliamentary in nature, but weak democratic traditions and love of consistency has ensured continued governance by the establishmentarian and slightly reactionary Verein für den anhaltenden Ruhm der Bergvölker (VfdaRdB) for as long as most people can remember.

Image
Map of Seeberg

The capital is Brinterberg. A sprawling «urban village», situated at the foot and on the slopes of the Horkenheim mountains, where over two thirds of the population reside. An old and arguably quaint city, it is made up of Jugend housing, Baroque palaces and Gothic places of worship. Tyrolean styled houses in various sizes (block, two or three storey) dominate the north and eastern parts that are predominantly situated on the hills and up the mountains. The smaller towns of Kügeldorf, Bernsdorf, Hinterdorf and Rothaus are to be found in neighboring valleys.

Main Gemeinschaft exports are violins and critical theory, the latter supplied by the renowned Brinterberg Institute for Sozial Research. The Gemeinshaft is a deeply conservative society, characterized by Cremeschnitte cakes, large mustaches and repressed sexuality. Some of the Brinterberg School’s most prominent theorists claim that this is likely the only form of society where a truly critical theory could ever emerge, although this is generally regarded as poppycock. National pastimes and preferred sports are Graeco-Roman wrestling, various equestrian disciplines and archery.

The national team is nicknamed The Horkenheimers. All qualification home games will be played at Silbernes Lärchenstadion on the slopes just north of fair Brinterberg. There’s a seilbahn at the foot of the Misty Berge that will bring you up in the mountains and deliver you in proximity to the Gemeinschaft border. Travel from there to Brinterberg is usually completed by foot or on horseback/drawn carriage. The Seebergundian FußBallverband can arrange for visiting opponents to borrow horses, although any such request must be made well in advance and any damages to our horses will be penalized according to the laws of the land.
