The Ministry of Sports and the Dēmosian Football Association (DFA) are proud to present the…

Dēmos Regional Football Team

Before heading on to their bus coaches, manager Alexi Papadopoulos handed out the necessary trivialities and information of the tournament. More noticeably, a letter had been received by the Football Team.

The letter reads out:

Dear Players, Staff and Executive,

I wish you all the best on behalf of the Imperium today as your team goes on to embark on the Equestrian-Farfadillis-Banija Baptism of Fire. The tournament, as you have already been briefed, is to be held in Arrosia in the competition’s 87th entry.

This is your first ever chance playing on an international stage. There are hearts and minds that may intimidate you, but you know our culture: grit. Grit is the wings upon which our eagle soared through thick and thin. Soared through tempests and likewise through calm dew.

Do you remember?

Do you remember the campaigns of Alexander the Great? How he infiltrated the Hindu Kush, or nearly traversed the Hyphasis river?

Never done since Dionysus himself…

In other words, his glory back then is the same glory you will be able to have now.

So have confidence in your ability men. You don’t deserve this less than any of the men who may otherwise face you. Make Demos proud and never apologize for your mistakes. You deserve this honor.

I sincerely wish all the training staff a speedy and efficient training program alongside the players who will benefit from this to take full advantage of the opportunity.

We expect silverware.

Dēmos Avalinñea!

Atymnius
Supreme Deity of Demos

After a while suddenly a news broadcast appears…

*BUZZ…BUZZ*

Image
Mike Hattenborough: Welcome to the Dēmosian News Network! We are happy to be broadcasting all 1000+ games of the Baptism of Fire right here at the Ministry of Communications. So make sure to stay tuned! With that out of the way, what is the sentiment on the ground, Apostoli?

Apostoli Apostoleris: Thanks Mike. We have a bustling atmosphere over here in Arrosia as players and their teams start preparing for Matchday 1. We were told fixtures were going to release today so all smiles here on the training ground. I’ll take you through the lineup as we’ve been briefed:

Image

LINEUP

FIRST XI

Image
Apostoli Apostoleris: Today we feature the standard line-up expected from the start. They have decided to go for Wyetti at the goalposts with the “madman” Henrick featuring at the back. In the center, we’ve got Theodosis leading the possession accompanied by the Greek Kratos: Aris Tý. I’m also happy to report that the “Spanish Salamander” Rafail Paleas will be featuring as striker. Often we see his quality in the Spanish Seriè, where we saw him become the top goalscorer there, so we expect to see the same on an international level as well...

1 | Wyetti Qūnos (Goalkeeper)|

2 | Babas Odola (Left-Back) |
4 | Henrick Whyatou (Center-Back) |
3 | Carmen Tyolius (Center-Back) |

KIT

Image
Apostoli Apostoleris: Along with the formation, Demos features its traditional blue-gold colours as it decides to wear its home kit today. The kit has been manufactured by Puma for the first time since its inauguration in the present World Cup. Well-known Demos customs such as breaking plates are often seen with the shattered remnants “clothed up” using the home kit during late-afternoon beach days in the City when the regional football team plays.
Image

After talking for a while as fans applaud and cheered in anticipation near the commentary station, the two brothers-in-arms sat down to talk about predictions…

Predictions and Analysis

Apostoli: “Ah yes that’s all well and good Mike, but what do YOU think about Demos as it fares lately… Do they stand a chance?”

*He chuckles lightly looking for Mike’s anticipation*

Mike: “Look. It’s a two-way street I’m afraid. Demos just doesn’t have the experience.”

*He mumbles softly to himself before looking up at the surrounding fans.*

Mike: “You can take a dime and make a million but you can’t take a million and expect a dime. There are thousands of competitors…”

Apostoli: “Huh!? Really. But if we look at some of the players…”

*Apostoli brings out a tablet and extrapolates the information to a presentation board on the wall.*

Apostoli: “Rafail has scored recently in the last derby match against Rivers. Surely that’s on your cards for tonight?”

Mike: “Yeah, he’s definitely pulled some strings. But as you know,”

*He looks inwards upon himself before chuckling softly as he turns to his friend,*

Mike: “Let’s wait and see.”

Highlights Player

Image
He never quite knew what was expected of him. In the middle of parental pressures that influenced his grades, Rafail Paleas found solace in the friends he made during his routine practices. He was excellent. He had a good eye for the ball and was always present. All the while he would keep mumbling:

How am I going to live to the mantle of my parents?

That was the reminiscence of what would be a son that no longer came back to his neighborhood.

Now he is a man.

Having played for the U19 Dēmosian Regional Football Team, he would later now be invited to his first international at 21 years of age. This was unprecedented at the time. World Cup silverware, however, was well-calculated by the reptillian as he slithers effortlessly through his opponents.

Name: Rafail Paleas
Nickname: The Spanish Salamander
Region of Origin: Demos
League: Serié BBVA
Height: 5"11
Age: 21
Preferred Foot: Right
Club: Tyurius FC

The Tristan de Cunha National Football Team

History: Football has been played informally on Tristan de Cunha since at least the 1870s. The first organized matches on the island were organized on economic lines as a contest between the boatsmen, fishermen, and whalers who worked offshore and the prominent townsfolk of Lambert's Town, being played each on or around Boxing Day each year. By the 1920s, an informal league had formed, with four amateur teams representing the four major industries: the Sailors, Lobstermen, Brewers, and Fielders. Matches were played in a single or double round-robin format over the summer period, and in 1927 the first championship match, played between the two most successful teams, occurred on the day before St. Patrick's Day. This established a traditional Tristanian Football season, running between mid-November and 16-March with the championship match scheduled for just before St. Patrick's Day. Full record-keeping, including individual player stats, began to be implemented in 1927, but only in 1928 did the Tristanian government agree to provide a small stipend to amateur players and thus raise the league to a semi-professional status. At the same time, state fund were set aside to support a publicly funded Tristan de Cunha Sporting Association, becoming the de-jure football authority within Tristan de Cunha. Between 1946-1957 two new teams, the Teamsters and the Guardians, were formed, establishing the Tristan de Cunha Football league in its modern 6-team form. Between 1961-63, volcanic eruption prompted an evacuation of the island, leading to many residents living for over two years in the UK. When these residents returned, they brought an invigorated passion for the sport with them, spurred on by access to live and televised matches and English football culture while abroad. In 1965, as part of the rebuilding and development of the island, a football pitch was cleared and leveled just south of the agricultural fields known as the Potato Patches. This "Potato Patch Field" would be used by Tristanian footballers until its expansion and revitalization in 1994-95.

The idea of fielding an international football team was first bandied about during this same period, but was deemed too expensive and difficult. It was not until the Tristan de Cunha Sporting Association met with representatives from the NSWC Coordinating Committee in 2019, that a decision was made to raise a team to represent Tristan de Cunha in NSWC Qualifications. However, the global pandemic and resultant economic downturn delayed these plans, and funding for the team was not secured until 2024 through donations from the NSWC Development Fund, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and Lambert International Banking. The Baptism of Fire 87 and NSWC 100 Qualifications will represent the very first efforts of the Tristan de Cunha International Football Team on the world stage.

Due to financial and logistical constraints, it was decided that the Tristanian National Team would be limited to just 17 total players - 11 starting players and 6 substitutes. The team has been chosen from among the most skilled players of each of Tristan de Cunha's six semi-professional football clubs. It is headed by manager Adam Joseph Lambert-Grant, a government bureaucrat from the Ministry of Commerce and avid football enthusiast. Coaching is provided by Michael O'Toole, the coach/manager of the successful Fielders F.C., supplemented by his some-time rival Benjamin Bácaeir, coach of Teamsters F.C. On the field, the team is led by captain Oliver Michael Green, also of Fielders F.C. All players are Tristanian natives, and play for the domestic Tristanian semi-pro clubs.

Nicknames: The Potato-Fielders - A humble name referring back to the pre-1995 Potato Patch Field, the first football pitch on the island and home of all domestic matches prior to the 1994-95 renovation.

Host Announcement

The draw has been added to the opening post of the thread, as has the schedule for the tournament.

Participants are also once again reminded to not "reserve" posts for rosters or RPs. Those who have already done so will not be penalized this time, but are warned not to do so again. During the tournament, with the number of participants we have, it's likely that the hosts will not have the time to go back through and check for which posts have and have not been updated while grading RPs. As such, those who do so risk receiving no credit for their RPs.

"This is LIberty's Latest, I'm your host Coretta Kelly. The ongoing Second Galactic War has just reached a confirmed Helldiver death toll of five billion. Each and every one of these heroes will have their names, sacrifices and unique traits forever immortalised upon the Wall of Martyrs. In sporting news, the Super Earth Senators have been officially authorised to engage in multiversal travel. Using Dark Fluid liberated from the vile Illuminate threat, they will venture beyond the known cosmos and prove Super Earth's sporting supremacy across all documented timelines. Their first competitive performance will be broadcast live from the proving grounds of Equestria. Coming up next: the teenaged hero with a valiant dream to one day have her own pet hamster, and the ring of illegal dissidents she uncovered in pursuit of her compassionate ambitions. That's Liberty's Latest, I'm Coretta Kelly."
- Strohmann News Broadcast, approved by the Ministry of Truth

Seyshel Beach

The pastel purple of expansive fields of alien grass, as beautiful as they were exotic even after all these years of colonisation.

The gentle shine of the nearest star, and more importantly, the distant, barely-perceptible glow of the Sun itself obscured by the sky but felt within the heart all the same.

The calming thrum of four A/G-16 Gatling Sentries firing in unison, shredding the hordes of Illuminate forces that attempted to destroy Managed Democracy's sporting ambitions.

Truly, all present had to concede it was the most serene of training exercises they'd yet experienced.

After days of kicking ticking dynamite between each other, running between minefields to practice spatial awareness, evading strafing runs to prove their agility and standing in formation for hours to practice a perfectly-pitched recitation of the Super Earth Anthem, the Senators were finally trying their hand at an actual game of freedomball. Of course, the un-local population of alien invaders had other ideas. Every so often, interceptors soared overhead. Zombified husks piled at the edges of their improvised little freedomball field. Every few minutes, an shining blue laser beam would sweep the field and ruin their carefully demarcated boundaries. But with a dedicated security contingent and an arsenal of automated turrets taking care of the perimeter, it was by and large a successful exercise.

The most prolific players proved their worth. Deadman charged ahead time after time, his relentless and unwavering assault cutting through his opponents. The colossal Fisher deflected assault after assault no matter the strength levied against him. Lagrange scored two separate goals from halfway across the field- coincidentally at times during which the goal had been temporarily withdrawn from due to alien interference. But above all else, the team showed total fearlessness, playing at their best despite the tranquilising cacophony of meditative machine-gun fire threatening to lull them into complacency.

When finally a stray enemy probe called for reinforcements, the former Helldivers rushed to retrieve their weapons. The field was immolated by a series of precisely-targeted Orbital Napalm Strikes. Their preparations for the Baptism of Fire would go out in a literal blaze of glory. And once in orbit, only praise was to be offered to the Senators for their exceptional performance.

"You have proven yourself heroes of the Federation," Sporting Officer Myrom said, beaming with genuine pride. "On all occasions a goal kick was attempted, it either succeeded or failed. One-hundred percent of the time, either our attack proved insurmountable or our defence proved impregnable. You are the elite, those chosen to carry the torch of freedomball ever onward in the name of true freedom. The applause and adoration of billions awaits your coming efforts. Super Earth is proud of you. I am proud of you."

Each member of this elite sporting regiment saluted in honour.

Myrom had done what little research he was able on the forces they were soon to compete with. It seemed many of these competitors had longstanding legacies of football clubs, national championships, and living legends to rely upon. But Super Earth had something else, something far greater: Lady Liberty herself on their side. And by her fortune, democracy would protect them from any risk of failure. The champions of the Federation who had overcome bug, bot and squid across the galaxy would be utterly unfazed by whatever threat the multiverse could throw at them.

Surely.
Fre liberam per democrasum
Yes, THAT Super Earth. This nation is not intended to be particularly original or deep. Do not take anything it does too seriously.

Yangchenia Blazing Dragons
"In the flames of sport, our iron will is forged"

About Yangchenia

Yangchenia, officially the Dragon Empress's Domain of Yangchenia, is a small country primarily located on two planets. It is an absolute monarchy and a theocracy, and is Lacia's only necrocracy. Situated in the isolated northeastern continent of Msalka, it is bordered by the Queendom of Gesaria to it's West, the Altanul Nomadic Horde to it's southwest, the Voghulian State of Greatdux to it's east and the Khanate of Kungaria to it's south. Yangchenia is one of the least densely populated on Lacia, with a population at around 34,120,094 million people as of the 2024 census, despite having almost 6 million sqkm of land.

Despite being a small country, Yangchenia leads Lacia in the space race, with the country being one of the most advanced yet also very traditional. [2]The nation dedicated 10% of its annual budget to research, while a whopping 46% of the annual budget is allotted for Spirituality, as the nation is very religious, with the majority of the population adhering to the Yanginist Faith.

On Earth, Yangchenia occupies around 1,000,000 sq km of land, mostly dominated by rugged mountains and hills, with large valleys and plateaus scattered all across the land. On Lacia it occupies around 800,000 sq km of land and is mostly composed of mountainous terrain to the South, with the rest of the country being dominated by snowy tundra. Yangchan, Yangchenia's Lacian Capital, is the northernmost capital on Lacia, while the main capital is situated in the city of Yangchen. However, since 1200AD, both realms have functioned separate from each other.

The Guul-La Dynasty is the current rulers of Yangchenia and have continuously maintained power for over 4000 years. Emerging over 5000 years ago, Yangchenia is one of Lacia's oldest nations, and home to many old civilizations.

Football in Yangchenia - the Blazing Dragons

Football as a sport is not that prevalent in Yangchenia, with the nation's most popular sport being different kinds of martial arts, from Kung Fu, Taekwondo, and even native martial arts such as Dailu - a form of martial art that involves rudimentary weapons such as sticks, slippers, and basically anything. However since the rise of globalization, and the popularity of football across Lacia, the sport has gradually begun entering Yangini sporting culture. The Yangchenia Blazing Dragons was founded on 20 April 1969, by Weng Zhidao, as Yangchenia's national football team.

The majority of the Blazing Dragon's roster are former members of the military, and those that have competed in martial arts competitions, the dominant sport in the country - as they are seen as one of the most physical and skilled people in Yangchenia at the sport.

It was first brought by the British in mid-1890s when the first wave of European immigration to Visayas and Mindanao happened. It was loved by everyone and even wholeheartedly supported the football team since 1947. And still is the most popular sport in all over Saint Lazarus ever since.

NEW KITS RELEASED FOR THE CARABAOS FOR BAPTISM OF FIRE
Iloilo City, Metropolitan District

Visayan sportswear firm Garra Sport released a set of new kits to be worn by the national team this upcoming Baptism of Fire, inspired by the iconic 1996-97 adidas kit worn by DC United and the national team itself. Same design, but the story itself is clear. They're not just stripes, they're made from glory. Home and away kits are the same as the 1996 ones, but with some hues with it. No features, just a simple but elegant jersey. And also included the 1998 Asian Games kit worn by the mythical U23 squad who won the gold medal upsetting the Koreans in extra time. It was dubbed "la camiseta de la bandera", the flag jersey. Some people wore it for their pride and some for political reasons. It was brought back some several times at any occasions, whether it's the 10th anniversary of the '98 Asian Games win or, celebrating the independence. But still, that is the jersey that unites Saint Lazarenes all over the world. "We are happy to release these new kits honoring the team's history.", says Manuel Sarabia, CEO of Garra Sport. "I hope this historic entry to Baptism of Fire will lead us to victory." "We like to give thanks to the employees at Garra Sport for making these historic jerseys for us.", says RFSF president Enrique Filongco. "Hope this jersey will pass on from generation to generation." The jerseys will appear in a friendly match against an opponent before BoF starts.

Cardonian team

Postby The Peoples Republic of Cardonia » Sat Sep 27, 2025 7:02 pm

Per new order in Cardonia all players are legally required to shorten their last name to 4 letters ease of interpretation. This leads to interesting rosters. In Cardonia we believe that everyone should do everything so everyone is a midfield.

Front midfields: Doug, John
Middle Midfields: Rhon, Char, Gael, Opal, Deen
Lower midfields: Diff, Biff, Siff
Goalie (also a midfield): Stev

Jerseys are all purple with large emblems of crossed out cars. All players are required to ride bikes as the government is in the process of banning cars. We apologize for the inconvenience in naming.

Best of luck (to us)

Named as manager when the previous choice opted to sign on as an assistant manager for a club team overseas. Rather than re-open the search process, the Board of Directors chose to offer the job to Gilbert when their original second choice turned them down. Gilbert is seen as a caretaker manager for the current World Cup cycle, as he has been named league president for the Travantan Premier League.

Assistant managers: Lisa Beaupre (41), works with the defense and defensive midfielders; Chris Barclay (43), works with the forwards and attacking middies; Chloe Wilkerson (45), goalkeepers' coach

ROSTER (starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS
1 Scott Aubrey, 29 5-foot-11, 175 pounds

As close to a veteran as the Terns have between the goalposts. He's expected to serve as a steadying presence for a very inexperienced team.
23 Noah Frost, 21, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds
He's considered the future of the program. He's got lightning-fast reflexes but often is too aggressive coming off his line or possessing the ball.

DEFENSE
2 Joel Addison, 24 5-foot-11, 179 pounds
3 Tim Ragsdale, 25 6-foot-2, 210 pounds
4 Kevin Brantley, 27 6-foot, 200 pounds. TEAM CAPTAIN

9 Jen Proteau, 24 5-foot-10, 155 pounds (left winger known for ball-control and occasional daring runs)
10 Gordon Escobar, 26 5-foot-9, 165 pounds (playmaking middie who's the proverbial straw that stirs the drink)
12 Jeff Ransom, 25 6-foot, 175 pounds (right winger with great pace)

13 Carlos Javier, 19 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (depth defensive midfielder with modest skill)
19 Kwame Lassiter, 23 5-foot-11, 200 pounds (depth option as playmaker with a little bit of physicality in the event the Terns battle a more physical opponent)

FORWARDS
11 Jonah Jameson 28 6-foot-4, 220 pounds (big, bruising striker with blinding speed, but relatively limited ball skills)
14 George Rodney 23 5-foot-11, 185 pounds (pacey player who could serve as playmaker in a pinch)

This section is for any foreigners who might be curious about our humble land, here's some information about Bonusia:
FULL NAME: Confederació Bonusiana (The Bonusian Confederation)
POPULATION (479): 122.193.891
CAPITALS: Kynetbo/Kekla
FORM OF GOVERNMENT: Confederated parlamentary semi-monarchy
HEADS OF STATE:
  • Otger Iceta (Concòrdia Bonusiana - CB)
  • Inda' Mekalanu (Head chief of Keklagara)
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES: Catalan, Bonusian, Maki (Makanada Islands), Pedic (Pedic Islands)

CHARACTER: Although GREAT variances can be found across all the different vegueries (1st level subdivisions of Bonusia) in the country, the Bonusian society could be best described as mostly warm and welcoming. Bonusians have a very strong work ethic, during the week you'll find that very few of them will go out at bars, pubs or any other recreational place (except when there's midweek football), but by contrast this apparent seriousness of character suddenly vanishes when the workweek's over, and the partygoer Bonusians emerge from their suited-up shell. Most popular music genres are Bonusian Pop (B-POP), classical rumba and all sorts of electronic music (techno, house and makina mostly, amongst others). Although it's not widespread, specially amongst old population, drug consumption is fairly frequent and pretty normalized in Bonusia. Most common drugs are alcohol, energy drinks, marihuana and rubdisks.

INHABITANTS

The Bonusian Confederation was born as a pact of cooperation, mutual respect and shared progress between two species that coexisted in Llimana: the Earthlings and the Llimanians.

EARTHLINGS: The Earthlings arrived now almost 500 years ago to Llimana, after a long journey across the cosmos. As their name suggest, they come from a planet called Earth, which is, in unscientific terms, very far away.

Earthlings have an around 1.75m average height, with an important sex difference, the average being 1.65m for females and around 1.85m for males; and they weigh between 60 and 90kg. They have soft skin, with a range of colours going from pastel tan all the way to dark brown. They have a facial structure composed of two rounded ears to each side of the face, two occular cavities with their respective eves, a nose (proportionally similar in size to that of Llimanians) on the center, usually long and rounded at the end, and a mouth directly integrated below the nose in the face front. They are also hairy creatures, having their head fully covered in hair, aswell as the armpits, a great portion of the pelvis, and legs; and in the case of males they also grow hair on the chest, the back and in the face.

Almost all Earthlings came from one specific nation in their planet: a land they call Catalonia, which is their ancestral origin and which is still very present in the popular imaginary of Earthlings. It was a region which was a part of a state which tried to erase their existence, and after failing to break free and form their own state the Catalan ancestors of our fellow Earthlings ideated a seedship that put course towards our planet, which had the conditions to support Earth-origined life, in order to start anew and finally be able to govern themselves.

LLIMANIANS: The Llimanians are the first and only (known) sentient species originary of planet Llimana. They evolved their sentience around 20.000 years ago, and had since then dominated the planet.

Compared to Earthlings, Llimanians are slightly smaller and lighter, averaging 1.65m tall and weighing an average of 50 to 70kg, without noticeable sex differences. They have a far more rough and less porous skin than humans, with a colour range that goes from sky blue to navy. They have a noticeably different facial structure than Earthlings, possessing two pointy ears to each side, only one big occular cavity that occupies all the upper half of the front face, and a nose, usually short and rounded under their big eye.

Their upper head is dominated by their elongated mouth, which is movable and can be used to grab small objects with their strong lips. Unlike Earthlings, they have almost no teeth, and instead they pre-grind their food before ingesting. Finally, their chest is dominated by one or a few organic minerals that Llimanians grow naturally, with varying colors that occupy all the color spectrum. Some Llimanians like to keep them clean and orderly, while others just let it grow.

Until the Great Arrival, Llimanians lived in comparatively underdeveloped societies, with the capacity to work metals but yet far away from an industrial level of technology. After the contact, Llimanians around the area, the old Bonusians, were able to adapt to most of these new technologies that the aliens brought, and this greatly improved their quality of life, and they ended up building closer and closer relations to the Earthlings, until they decided to come together under one banner.

GOALKEEPERS

1. Anna Cloquell
Age & Gender: 32, Woman
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Raich (Baix Crossà)
Club: Centre Català de Kynetbo (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Fornal CF, Kynetbo Òc
Description: Starting in a small club in her area, Cloquell amazed everyone in the lower leagues with her capacity to strech to save shots that would be impossible for most, which earned her the nickname of "La Gata Crossana" (the Crossan Cat) and called the attention of clubs from the capital, specially the Centre Català, who ended up signing her. She's still far from the dawn of her career, and the BoF seems a great opportunity to prove everyone why.

13. Sílvia Ferrer
Age & Gender: 23, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Rabó (Makanada)
Club: Independent d'Atriu (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: As a good Makanadan, Ferrer is not the talkative type. Closed upon herself, rigid and at bad times bad tempered, she is however a very secure keeper, and the main reason for Atriu's excellent defensive record. Very observant, big and imposing, she's like a wall in front of the goal. After Cloquell retires, she appears to be the perfect substitute to defend the Bonusian net.

30. Amadeu Vallbona
Age & Gender: 31, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Minga (Tionera)
Club: Forestals Minganers (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: A football romantic, Vallbona has won the hearts of every football fan in Tionera, thanks to his compromise and passion for football he's always shown during his career. As a 3rd goalkeeper, his probability to play is very low, but his experience, his leadership skills and his passion will be greatly helpful to the rest of the squad.

DEFENDERS

2. Pol Miró
Age & Gender: 21, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Somorrosta (Detrívora)
Club: Inter Somorrosta (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Pol Miró (a.k.a. "Polmi") has a very serious way of approaching football. Not the shiniest on the pitch, his spotless performance defensively, aswell as his great capacity to adapt to rtyhm changes makes him a great asset to the Bonusian squad. Furthermore, he is very appreciated off the ptich by everyone for his charity work and his kind and warm approach to fans.

3. Caterina Bruch (C)
Age & Gender: 33, Woman
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Vilamagra (Serrallonga)
Club: Forestals Minganers (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Masó CF
Description: Strength, experience and a pretty bad temper are the main qualities of a Caterina Bruch that represents extremely well the prototype of the classic defender. Having been born and raised in a small town in the mountains of Serrallonga, Bruch doesn't have the will to walk in eggshells, which makes her a great captain, always making sure no one slacks off.

4. Tomeu Gonfaus
Age & Gender: 28, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Portustal (Vicèntia)
Club: Centre Català de Kynetbo (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: CP Portustal, Et Terminal
Description: With persumably at least some more year of his carreer ahead, Gonfaus has made himself one of the greatest Bonusian defenders ever to play. His biggest strength is his ability to predict attacker's movements to intercept them. His mental resilience is remarkable, and not only of use on the game but also off the pitch, being able to overcome and help others overcome the biggest of difficulties.

6. Sofia Fàbregas
Age & Gender: 28, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Mubu (Mubugara)
Club: Universitari d'Op (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Having been born in one of the most backwards regions of Bonusia, Fàbregas managed to study in Op and got to live the life she wanted. She's resilient and a great analyst, qualities that help her both in offense and defense.

12. Dioclecià Banach "Dio"
Age & Gender: 27, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Auguriada (Angèlica)
Club: Club Sant Pere (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Not your average defender, "Dio" is actually a big detractor of agression and violence in football. Yet, without being a fiercy big guy, Banach has his own way to play. A great presence in all the defensive line, great timing instincts and his ability to play the ball from behind make of him a very complete player. He also is a very religious individual, following the Catholic faith, and spirituality plays a big role in his life.

14. Biel Burgés
Age & Gender: 27, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Sant Josep Follet (Augústia)
Club: Gorgelgal (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: A big and scary centerback that has grown amongst ice, cold and the fierce beasts that inhabit it. He shines because of his superior physical attributes, which come in handy for Boquete whenever an opposing squad's attacking temptatives need to be cut short.

18. Francesca Rojo
Age & Gender: 21, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Arroça (Sau)
Club: Anticicló Molina (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Cheerful, creative and unpredictable, Rojo brings the spark to the Bonusian defensive line, acting in ways that could seem strange to most, trying daring and highly risky maneuvers. However, this unpredictability makes attackers less likely to ever outdo Rojo, as she keeps reinventing herself time and time again.

22. Àngels Catchot
Age & Gender: 25, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Beldeka (Keklagara)
Club: Keklaneka Esportiu (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Kekla Akagaja, Bubu Mubu
Description: One of the few players who played and then left Bubu Mubu, Catchot picked up some of their philosophy of instinctive playing, and started to develop it to suit her needs. Leaving raw instinct behind and instead developing his capacity to do without thinking, Catchot is able to think and do way faster than any of her teammates.

MIDFIELDERS

5. Sibil·la Casas
Age & Gender: 24, Woman
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Vilamolla de Montgras (Tionera)
Club: Phönix SV (Calgasia)
Previous clubs: Forestals Minganers
Description: Born to a family of lumberjacks, Casas has certainly applied some family knowledge into football. A defensive midfielder that chops down opponent's gameflow like fresh wood. Surprisingly, despite her rough and intense gamestyle, she's actually a very soft and sensible person. She likes to play the ukelele in her free time.

7. Antoni Obiols
Age & Gender: 27, Man
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Barraka (Llenak)
Club: Unomenc CF (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: More than a football player, Obiols is pure nerve: He just can't stay still. In whatever he does, he needs to be in the move constantly. Ofc in the pitch it makes him a very valuable player when you need to do high press or move the ball fast to avoid a steel defense. He has worked wonderfully at Unomenc, which has a straight-forward style which requires a high work-rate, and now it needs to be seen whether he is able to fit in the NT.

8. Isaac Boleda
Age & Gender: 23, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Rocafonda (Laietània)
Club: Inter Somorrosta (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Nou Roca, Rocafonda Unit
Description: The baller midfielder, the calm to the storm. He puts a bit of order in the midfield and enjoys distributing to his companions in the front. Other than that he's a pretty quiet dude, always with his headphones on listening to makina. Apparently he uses BPM of his favourite songs to adjust the rythm of his game.

15. Itziar Jara
Age & Gender: 20, Woman
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Kekla (Keklagara)
Club: Unió Bonusiana (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Nicknamed as "La Bomba" (The Bomb) due to her bad temper, Jara is not a player to mess with. Despite her young age, she has turned herself into a key piece (if not THE key piece) of her childhood club, Unió Bonusiana. Intensity, great pressing and her leadership skills are her greatest traits. She sometimes likes to gossip a bit too much.

16. Arnau Poveda
Age & Gender: 20, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Kynetbo (Àrea Metropolitana de Kynetbo)
Club: Universitari d'Op (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Front Cenetista
Description: Born in one of the poorest districts of Kynetbo, Poveda perhaps wouldn't have even tried playing football was it not for the Front Cenetista youth football programme. Currently studying and pursuing a football career aswell, the midfielder shines in his decision making and his great passing, which helps with difficult defenses. His hood origins manifestate clearly in his peculiar mannerisms, thus making high-stand events difficult for him.

23. Zoe Alcoberro
Age & Gender: 33, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Ferra (Ferragara)
Club: Gimnàstic de Tarraconova (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Ultramar Keklabluka, Copapèlana Jazzers, Forestals Minganers
Description: Alcoberro is perhaps the footballing equivalent of an all-rounder. Being her natural position in the defensive midfield, during all her career she has proven to be extremely competent at any midfielding position, aswell as in the defence or even as a striker if needed. Not seeming to be a starter for the Black Star, The Roman player will account for an excellent "golden sub". She's can even perform as a support member, with her good mood bringing joy to the squad and boosting the morale.

24. Zoe Calet
Age & Gender: 21, Woman
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Kynetbo (Àrea Metropolitana de Kynetbo)
Club: Et Terminal (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: The second Zoe of the team. Don't let the names confuse though, Calet couldn't be more different her name peer. Serious, even sometimes depressing, she's a very negative person overall. However, she's capable of using her negativity to predict bad stuff that could happen, in order to prevent it. That way, she is able to resolve even in the worst situations.

25. Salut Rus
Age & Gender: 23, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Keklabluka (Keklagara)
Club: Keklaneka Esportiu (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Quiet and sneaky, Rus uses her capacity to make her way through overcrowded midfields to get herself and the ball wherever she wants. Not much is known about her personal life, other than a possible passion for boat replicas.

FORWARDS

9. Isaac Pedra
Age & Gender: 23, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Unom (Plana d'Unó)
Club: Unomenc CF (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: A very competitive and hungry youngster who is already marking an era for Unomenc, helping them grab an excellent 3rd position last season while being the top scorer for his team. Like a good Unomian, he's passionate about everything, in his case specially towards football. With him in the pitch, no one is worried about a loss. At least with him in your team, no one'll be able to say that you haven't tried.

10. Bernat Formiga
Age & Gender: 21, Man
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Sant Josep Saler (Fangalera)
Club: Keklaneka Esportiu (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Formiga is the pinnacle of the classic Llimanian winger. Using his superior speed he passes through defenses like they're made out of cardboard. He's helpful and always tries to lend a hand to his teammates, but he's capable of the worst with whoever he considers his enemy. He's decided and he's got not a drop of fear in his body, so in general it's the type of guy you want to be friends with.

11. Jofre Ramon
Age & Gender: 23, Man
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Wèep (Pungapu)
Club: Associació Pèdica (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Coming from the sunny Pedic Islands, Ramon is not one to lose his temper at all. He's always calm and smiling, no matter what happens to him. A chill guy overall. Regarding football, he's grown amongst Pedics and their various cultural practices involving feet and it's control, so that and his natural ability have turned him into a skill master, being able to do things with the ball that no one else can. This ability has earned him the title of team wizard, since he's got magic in his boots.

17. Antonieta Dou
Age & Gender: 22, Woman
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Sant Puigdemont (Plèrnia)
Club: Centre Català de Kynetbo (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Interstany Al·lol·la
Description: A young winger already shining for the Centre Català, Antonieta has been the disruptive element of the Mechanical Fuet's attack this season. Uncomformist and anti-comfortist, she puts past wingbacks usually by sheer power of will. She can seem off quite rude and edgy at first glance, but in reality, covered by several layers of bad humor and apparent toughness, she's a big softie.

19. Aitor Cea
Age & Gender: 20, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Pètar (Mestrívola)
Club: Z'ai'ai (Chromatika)
Previous clubs: UE Pètar
Description: What to say about Cea. In his very first season in the Bonusian First Division, with a small side as is his UE Pètar, he scored over 50 league goals and crowned himself as the league's top goalscorer. Despite his goals, Pètar couldn't avoid relegation, but Aitor's performance called the attention of clubs from bigger leagues, thus he'll now play in the best league in the world, Chromatika's Red League. He's competitive and takes the game very seriously, but he also knows how to get loose. However, he has a little gambling addiction issue.

20. Lluís Portí
Age & Gender: 25, Man
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Infrabal·liada (Tarraconensis)
Club: Inter Somorrosta (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Copapèlana Jazzers
Description: Already established as a winger in Somorrosta, Lluís Portí will act, despite his young age, will act as the voice of experience for this group of extremely young wingers that have been called up for the national team. He's great at maintaining a clear mind when in the pitch, which helps him anticipate any defender's moves. He's pretty inwards out of the pitch, and we don't know much about his personal life, nor does he hang out a lot with his teammates.

21. Yonatan Morad
Age & Gender: 20, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Tarraconova (Tarraconensis)
Club: Gimnàstic de Tarraconova (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: No previous clubs
Description: Yonatan Morad is, to best describe him, a free spirit. He's lways bothered by rutines, discipline and obligations, and he feels he plays better when he is able to do whatever he wants and no one bothers him. For now, it seems Margaret has given him the word of the truth, as he's had a wonderful season with Gimnàstic. However, he's even more popular off the pitch than on it: he's charismatic, a party animal and a social media star, having a channel on Tuitx where he makes random directs about his life.

25. Castàlia Perpinyà
Age & Gender: 31, Woman
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Mentaia (Manabrera)
Club: Keklaneka Esportiu (Bonusia)
Previous clubs: Butifarres Bartra, Bartra CF, Rocafonda Unit
Description: Perpinyà is considered a living legend in Kekla. After signing her from Rocafonda, she guided Keklaneka to four league titles, three of them in a row. Now, she affronts the last years of her career still with full vitalty, and ready to help the youngsters affront this great challenge that is the BoF. She is kind of the squad's designed big sister, always taking care of her teammates and helping them out.

Image

HEAD COACH
Xavier Boquete
Age & Gender: 56, Man
Species: Earthling
Birthplace: Barçanini (Lokinalien)
Description: Boquete was once a very promising midfielder suspect for his hometown team, Barçanini Platanar, but sadly an extremely severe entry in a match against KabaBarraka left him in a wheelchair at just 17 years old, ending his playing career. However, instead of giving up on football, he started to learn and work to become a manager. After having passed through several teams in the First Division, the FBF called, and Boquete made a step forward and decided to take on the monumentous task that is selecting the best this country has to offer and guiding them through their first ever international competition.

ASSISTANT COACH
Javi Medina
Age & Gender: 54, Man
Species: Llimanian
Birthplace: Prats de Lilvienna (Cebana)
Description: Javi Medina has never been a very fond football fanatic, but he is an old friend of Boquete, with whom a very strong friendship since they both studied at the University of Mekalanu, in Kekla. His long expertise in training all kinds of professional athletes is why Boquete has counted on him to assist him in matters regarding players' physical form and wellbeing.

Matt Gilbert greeted the news with a rueful shake.

He was not among the final two candidates chosen for the Travantan national football team manager. He knew it was his last chance to serve as field manager for a team.

Brett Chamberlain was the choice. He'd been chosen for the wide open offense he promised to bring, one with skill as a premium and a joyful brand of football. Then, Chamberlain was offered a job as an assistant manager where he was slated to make much more money than the National Football Association of Travanta were prepared to offer. The second choice, Brad Campbell, was called two days later, after the Board of Directors opted not to re-open their managerial search, and chose instead to follow the line they'd chosen, deciding that they'd already fully vetted three candidates and didn't want to go through the process again.

Campbell, meanwhile, was "in no mood to be anyone's second choice" and brusquely turned down the Board of Directors and technical director Sarah Hoffman.

That meant one more option: Gilbert.

For his part, Gilbert wasn't ready to start his new full-time job as president of the Travantan Premier League just yet. He was hoping to parlay a shot as a field boss into learning the tendencies of players who would form the nucleus of the new league and getting an idea of where and how to allocate the national team's biggest stars. He would also help establish the rules and regulations the new league would follow as league president.

But then, as he settled down at the breakfast table with a cup of tea and the last scone before his trip to the bakery, his phone rang. He looked at the number, grimaced, and said "Matt Gilbert."

"Matt, this is Sarah Hoffman," came the voice on the other end. "I'm sure you've heard the media reports."

"What media reports? I haven't heard anything." It was true. Once Gilbert was notified that he would not be the choice, and that he would not be offered an assistancy with the national team, he'd decided to take a mental health break and ignore all news related to football. He was just going to take a vacation from the day he was advised he wasn't hired through to his first day as league president. He'd already contacted Micah Hoffman, of no relation to Sarah, who would be the commissioner of the league and his eventual boss. But in the meantime, he'd be taking direction from a different Hoffman.

"Curious," Sarah Hoffman replied. "I've called to offer you the position as national team manager."

Gilbert raised an eyebrow. Just days after being told he wasn't chosen, now he's getting offered the job?

"I thought the board wanted someone 'with more youthful energy who operated a more exciting brand of football', Gilbert said.

"I did, too. But then Brett took another job, and now here we are."

Gilbert thought for a moment. He was tempted to do what Campbell did and say thanks, but no thanks. He was tempted to dramatically increase his asking price since he was told by his agent that the Board of Directors would have to re-start their whole process and readvertise the position. He could, but he also knew he wasn't ready to sit in a stuffy office just yet. He wasn't ready to help write a league rulebook and set up a disciplinary framework for a league. He wanted one last shot at managing a team, and now he was getting it.

"Very well, Sarah," he said. "Send a contract to my agent. I'll be in touch with you once he's got it."

A few hours later, instead of wearing an ill-fitting foreign suit and playing figurative footy with league officials, he was wearing a national team-branded jacket and was being introduced as manager. The team wouldn't have the sexy, wide open attacking style favored by Chamberlain. Instead, Gilbert was taking a more conservative approach with his team. They'd still implement a 4-4-2 scheme, but creativity would take a back seat to discipline and possession.

Either way, Gilbert looked in the mirror on his first day running the team's training camp and smiled. He was happy to be wearing an outfit managers and coaches wear for drills and training regimens instead of a stuffy suit. The first order of business was to have player and coach introductions as training camp began. There would be a long road, but Gilbert was ready.

“They told me to do some commentary about current events, like groups and prospects or the apparent existence of talking dogs and raging space lords,” said Sigismund Schiltze and adjusted his feathered green felt cap, “but how can you say something about today and tomorrow without firstly discoursing protractedly on the many yesterdays of time gone by,” he continued and took a long swig from his stein as he looked out over the big oak trees lining Gamsbart Allee in the heart of fair Brinterberg. “So, while you might expect a small treatise on what the coming days could bring or the utter lunacy of the world beyond the mountains, I instead invite you to sit down and marvel at the story of How The Horkenheimers ended up here.” Herr Schiltze devoured his last piece of flamküchen and smacked his lips in contentment, before continuing: “Call me old fashioned, but I suggest we begin with Part 1, wherein the start of it all is laid out in most uncertain terms.”

“Now, the origin story of Seebergundian football is not shrouded in mystery or especially tall tales. The reason is that, for most of known time, few—if any—of the people who were most likely to engage in that kind of chronicling, and dwelled beneath the great mountains, ever deemed footballing a sort of activity worthy of serious consideration—never mind documenting its beginnings, or perpetuating embellishments, or, for that matter, even wasting a thought on. I suppose the reasons behind kids way back when finding out that kicking around something round was an amusing manner to pass the time were the same as in most other places out there beyond the mountains.

We don’t know, and can’t say, that he or she made the very first kick of a roundish object here or there at such and such a time. But it is safe to assume such childish nonsense is almost as old as time itself, and eventually developed into something akin to a structured game with rudimentary rules. Although, such activities remained reserved for the playground or peripheral parts of adult spheres, and never found their way into organized education or proper society until fairly recently. And if we want to talk about the game of football as we know and play it today, its genesis is even younger still. Because the current ruleset was not indigenous, but rather came to the valleys below the mountains from outside—like some invasive species sneaking into your territorial waters through the ballast of shady cargo vessels, wreaking havoc on your ecosystem.

Indeed, for many, many years, the game that developed into what we today know as football was played with a combination of hands and feet. And while the objective was very much to get the roundling (often tightly rolled-up lederhosen) in between two posts, much was different from today in the way the game was played—perhaps above all, the number of players engaging, and the more or less complete lack of rules concerning health and safety. While this was perhaps only a minor nuisance as long as it was kept in the younger demographics, it did become something of a problem when it inevitably travelled upwards and became a preoccupation for young adults—and even adults in their own right. Because, in stereotypical fashion, this kind of pastime predominantly came to occupy members of the proletariat: workers and lesser craftsmen from the factories making constituent parts of violins, or academics from institutes of low repute that had never been any good at producing truly critical theory.

The game was violent and chaotic. And while Seebergundian society of that day and age was no stranger to either violence or chaos, they preferred their violence institutionalized and their chaos repressed—as any deeply conservative society with a bit of dignity would. Of course, when we speak of "society" in this regard, we speak not of an all-inclusive concept, like an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet that includes everything—even the Nutella and pancakes at the end—but rather Society as in: ladies and the occasional gentleman constituting a fraction of the population at large, keen on dressing up for the opera on Quietscheentchen Straße, just in the middle between Kinkerlitzchen Platz and Philharmonisches Platz, and failing at suppressing their sexuality while gossiping about each other and securing prosperous marriage connections for the next generation while their husbands are away forcing poor people to build railroads or something common like that. But of course, there were layers to society as well. And even though the very icing of the social cake perhaps numbered in the few, the ones making up the top sponge of the tiered cake—those who aimed to reach the top or at the very least please it—were indeed numerous.

Society was not amused by the advent of this new game and did its very best not to acknowledge it. And this worked out perfectly well for a long period of time, due to the effectiveness of social stratifications and more or less outspoken segregationism, which allowed the parallel worlds of Seebergundian life to coexist to a reasonable degree—where the one world didn't make too much fuss about the second’s disdain, as long as the second left the first to themselves. But this all came crumbling down when the scruffles that constituted the birth of Seebergundian football became somewhat more organized—and visible.”

SNN Primetime

“Hello! I’m your host as always, Jim Kim, and this is… really something. Stewartika is going to multiversal, global football for the first time! I’m told I won’t remember any of this as this is not canon to RGBNverse or Stew RP Productions^tm, but I hope you all will enjoy what’s to come while it lasts! We’ve got fans ranging in the thousands going out to Farfadillis for the group stage, following our team. Let’s hope they cheer ‘em on enough.

And back home, we’ve got plenty of big-timers cheering our boys on! Here’s two-time GT500 World Champion Haruo Youngwon live to give us some words. Haruo, any message to pass on to the team?”

“…goo, Stewartika.”

“Haha, thanks, Haruo. We hope you’ll stay with us until the very end, cheering on the Pigs. And beyond even that, to the World Cup! Stay tuned.”

On ArtLab, posted by sacho3:

Shot from a phone in reverse camera on the team’s plane, the defender’s face takes up the frame. He speaks in Hanguel-accented Common:

“We’re on our way to… Farfadillis, for the Baptism of Fire!”

The camera is pointed to the man next to Cho, Jens Bergmeier, who notices and whoops in affirmation. It goes back to Cho.

“I’m looking forward to see all the players we’re up against, especially,” he points to the camera now, “my good friend… Gagiri! We’ll meet again there!”

The camera goes up now to provide a look at the row behind - showing Ott Bentham, Karl Strand, and Aidan Haggstrom cheering and waving to it. With a laugh, the video ends.

Snestar's head coach Camilla Arentas comments on the Group Draw and the National Team

During a press conference a day after Snestar's arrival in Farfadillis, Camilla Arentas made a few comments about the state of the Snestaryan national team, as well as sharing a humorous anecdote and a few pieces of information about her past career as a player.

"So yesterday, after a short nap, I was taking a stroll through the training facilities in Farfadillis... Amazing infrastructure, by the way. Leagues better than our one back in Dandelicha. Anyway, I headed to the lounge and saw the younger boys giggling while holding a piece of paper. I went over to Calvaresi, and I asked him "What's so funny?" and he informed me that the groups had been drawn. I was so confused at the time; I thought we got sorted into a group of death. But it turns out, the reason why they were laughing so much was genuinely incredibly stupid. When the boys gave me a piece of paper with the groups written, and I looked through the nations in our group, I didn't see anything unusual. Actually, I was quite content with our opponents... Then I saw Lebronsleftnut.

At first I thought it was some kind of German word, so for a couple minutes I tried all sorts of pronunciations. I had Calvaresi explain what that name meant before I could finally understand what was going on. Turns out that nation wasn't something in German at all. It actually spells "LeBron's left nut". I had so many questions at the time: Why would someone name their nation that? Why the left nut specifically? Who even is LeBron? ... At that point, I just knew we were in for a wild ride.

Anyway... I must say, I'm not sure how far we'll make it in this tournament. I have immense faith in what the boys are capable of doing: Garnati and Acanfora have lots of experience with important clubs, and we also have promising young talents: Calvaresi has shown amazing leadership despite only being 23 years old, but let's not forget about Ragusa, Maritan, Balestri, and Martinelli. However, I know our national team isn't as strong as it used to be. I remember the good old days, with the GATE defense: Gallerani, Alberti, Terranova, and Emery were impenetrable. Only Gallerani remains, and he personally told me he intends to retire soon. It's going to be a tough blow when he says goodbye to the team. My mission here is to bring cohesion to this team: right now the boys could use more coordination and chemistry. I remember that night in 2016, when Fraliso won the Irripetibile title, and I was the captain of Arentas; we had to face them in the Coppa Libertas. For those who don't know, it's a charity match where the winner of the Women's Division Alpha faces the winner of the Men's Division Alpha, but everyone always treats it very seriously. And even though we lost 3-0, we fought until the end, never stopped creating chances, and left the stadium with a round of applause and a huge smile on our faces. I want to teach them to never back down, never lose concentration, and most importantly, never stop playing."

Dixie-Florida In The Baptism Of Fire

Image
BEGIN RECORDING

"So you agreed, publicly, without consulting me, in MY name no less, to participate in this... Football event?"

"Yes, President Governor. I thought this was an excellent chance to increase our national prestige not just in the Fifth Empire, but in the whole Multiverse."

"I see. Well, while we are not known for our... Football prowess. Very well. I can see your point. You made sure to thoroughly read the rules, right?"

"Oh, um. Of course, President Governor!"

"Good, good. You know, I used to play a bit of football as a boy. Tell me, Micheal, I'm curious. Are the rules in Multiversal Football the same as they are in Floridian Football?"

"Uh... the same, I think."

"You think?"

"I-"

"Are the pitch sizes the same? Team counts? Is this league male only? Female only? Mixed sex? Did you go over Uniform regulations to ensure we show up properly dressed?"

"...Ok, maybe I didn't read everything before signing us up..."

"..."

"...Or, anything, really..."

"...I should have you executed for this. Publicly. Painfully. Personally."

"..."

"But unfortunately, your violent and very satisfying demise would do nothing to avoid the national humiliation that will surely follow should we screw this up. So instead, I'll give you a chance to salvage this. I won't even ask you to win the damn thing, all I ask is that you avoid making us look like utter fools to the Multiverse. Do that, and I might just settle for only killing your political career."

"...I-I think I can do that."

"You think?"

"I'LL HANDLE IT, SIR! WON'T LET YOU DOWN, SIR!"

END RECORDING

About Football in Dixie-Florida

Image

Though a longstanding presence within the Floridian Peninsula, Football has seldom found itself within a position of unique prominence in the wider public eye. Sitting behind more contact heavy ball sports such as Gridiron Football and Rugby, the traditionally "masculine" physical sports such as wrestling and boxing, sports of particularly patriotic pride such as swimming, and utterly dwarfed by the popularity of Auto Racing series such as the Florida Association for STock Car Auto Racing(FASTCAR). To the average Dixie-Floridians, Football is a fun and easy sport for school children at recess, not a professional sport for adults to play.

With that said, Professional Football does maintain an understated but consistent popularity, particularly in the States of Rose and Alba. With two governing bodies operating in all States. The Florida Football Federation (F.F.F), and the Florida Football Federation For Females(F.F.F.F.F) often shortened to 3F and 5F respectively. On any given week, 3F and 5F games can expect to be between the 7th-15th range of most viewed sporting events on national TV. However, as Dixie-Floridians are a fiercely Patriotic bunch, it is expected that participation in the Baptism of Fire will boost viewership considerably, just as Dixie-Florida's entry into FEBA increased the popularity of Baseball. As the people tune in en masse to show their support for the national team. (As well as the fact that "Baptism" is a very culturally significant term for Dixie-Floridians, with the nation being a Baptist country, which dubs its wars and other significant events "Baptisms", the name "Baptism of Fire" is sure to garner interest.)

Ruleswise, Floridian Football is very similar to standard Football, with one major exception. A more aggressive contact culture as a result of cross pollination between other sports, and the overarching Dixie-Floridian "Macho" culture, one which finds the concept of faking or overplaying injuries to be bizarre and foreign. Dixie-Floridian players will often try to muscle opponents out of the way, are extremely unlikely to play up injuries for game benefit, and may even attempt to hide them if they do occur to continue playing. Floridian Football in general is more sparing with yellow and red cards. For the first few games, it is likely many Dixie-Floridian players may end up culture shocked by the more rigid structure of Professional Football as antics that are perfectly acceptable at home gets them penalized abroad.

Dixie-Florida Uniforms

Image

In Dixie-Florida, it is common practice for athletes to personalize their uniforms in order to distinguish themselves on the field. For their debut in the Baptism of Fire, the members of the Dixie-Florida team have been asked to refrain from making additions to their uniforms beyond names and numbers until regulations are better understood. Leaving them for now clad in the rather bare base uniforms sporting the National Colors of Orange, Green, and Yellow.

Dixie-Florida Roster

Image

Wanting to cover all bases in the event of playing against either a male or female team, both 3F and 5F were asked to contribute a roster for the BoF. In order to not deprive any one team of their best players, it was agreed that each State Team will contribute 1 team member from each organization to the Baptism of Fire. As well as an additional 2 from the Capital of Greater Tampa. Providing a total pool of 30 players.

I signed up on impulse, I don't know a thing about Football so I probably got some things wrong.

If the two selectable team lineup thing isn't allowed, just treat the 5F team like an extended reserve roster or ignore it if its too many names. It only really exists because I thought the acronym was funny.

Colored television first came in Riandera in the mid 70's. Rianderan television channels started opening up to international business, and started having their own broadcast of the IRL World Cup in 1978. Viewers became interested, and started playing the sport. Soccer then became such a popular sport, that a national governing body (ASBR) was created in 1982. It established the first Rianderan soccer league a year later. The men's national team was created in 1986, and the women's national team was created two years later. Despite its popularity, Riandera never competed at the international stage until present day. Riandera attempted competing at the 1996 Aszya Cup, but did not qualify. They also attempted competing at the same tournament 20 years later, but failed to make it past qualifiers. They qualified for the 2024 Pasifika Cup, but didn't make it past the Round of 16. The Rafflesias previously competed at the 24th Independent Associations Championship (IAC), but failed to make it past group stage.

The Rafflesias sure did have a good run at the Independent Associations Championship, even if they only finished in group stage. Team manager Made Krishna Brahma was delighted to know that the Rianderan team qualified for the 87th Baptism of Fire, as one of the newer teams to compete at the 100th World Cup. He stated in an interview that he was hoping to see them go as far as the finals, but doesn’t mind if they finish in group stage again. Team captain Zhamanta Zhang stated in an interview that it really didn’t matter if the Rafflesias were going to win or not, at least they had fun.

Vice-Captain Dharmawanto was jamming to something. When others asked him why he was listening to that song, he simply said: “It gets me motivated.”

But when the others stepped in the next time, he felt like he was forced to burst out something he wanted to keep to himself. “We deliver heck to our opponents.”

Zhamanta wickedly grinned. “That’s what we’re here to do.”

“Make them rue the day they first kicked that ball!” Nathan felt like he was a villain saying such a thing in his low voice.

The Rafflesias evilly laugh and cackle.

Maryam smiles. “Well… we were sent here to have fun. Not to become villains and come up with evil plans.”

Ira, Zhamanta and Nathan look at each other and blush. They laugh, and the other Rafflesias join in.
