Understanding the Pool

The players numbered 1-11 would be considered the starting 11 if the cup started today. The players 12-24 would be direct backups, along with three additional players. Every player in the pool is competing for one of 26 roster spots throughout qualification. When the team qualifies for the World Cup (or the Cup of Harmony, should they fall short) the pool will be cut down, and the numbers will be reassigned to the final squad. Throughout qualifying, starting rosters and the bench at each game will feature a different mix of players from the pool to determine the final roster.

About the Manager

Shane Newman is a Baker Park born, who took the chance to become the first NT boss for Havynwilde with an understanding that he would have time & resources to build from scratch. He was hounded by negative media coverage, the unrealisitc expectations of supporters & the governing body, and no investment to correct the dearth of talent in the domestic league. He was unceremoniously fired while out of the country on holiday. He'll consider his time there a learning experience. Was the chief defensive architect for the BPNT in the first three WC cycles.Aged 49 and married with three children--a boy and two girls--he will look to the domestic league for talent by focusing on technique, pace, and positional flexibility.

The Playing XI

#1 Jahangir Shehzad (Goalkeeper)
the twenty two year old goalkeeper Jahangir Shehzad. Who's been always in the bench waiting for their debut match. Jahangir Shehzad is a familiar face to all those who used to follow the Youth football tournaments in Indusse. Jahangir also was a tough contender for Liga Prime's (Indusse's Division One Football League) Golden Gloves. Jahangir was born in the city of Shahzalabad, located seventy six kilometres north of Riveria. He started his career for his school team and then got into the famous college team belonging to Mir Azmal College of Physical Sciences (MACPS). His performance for his college team got him into Sindvpore FC and later to Southbay Riveria FC. Currently, Jahangir is the goalkeeper for Southbay Riveria FC and had replaced Steve in the last season.

#91 Mark Millwood (Defender)
Mark Millwood was born in the town of Parvanaghattapura, in the outskirts of the national capital region of New Hind City. He started his soccer career at the age of twelve where he started playing for his school team and a local football club known as Saviours XI Parvanaghattapura. He later joined the Kala Bharati University Campus and got into the Kala Bharati Campus Team. His excellent performance in the campus team brought him his ticket to New Hind City FC Youth and later to the national team camp. He was later bought by Rockies International Youth and currently plays for Rockies International FC in Indusse's First division league, Liga Prime.

#6 Jonathan Krege (Defender)
Jonathan Krege was born in the city of New Hind City to the business tycoon Friedrich Krege and is the rightful heir to Krege Industries, a well known multinational giant. Jonathan started his career by playing for his school teams and then for the Kala Bharati Campus Team alongside Mark Millwood. His performance in Kala Bharati team got him into Rockies International Youth and later to Neagra FC Youth. He had to quit Neagra FC Youth due to issues regarding his pay and was left in the transfer market as a free agent until he was bought by Cheralam Masters Youth. His career in Cheralam was short lived and at the age of nineteen he was bought by Salingam United FC. From then his performance improved to an extraordinary level where he was invited to play for the National Youth Team. His performance in the Nationals as well as for Salingam have brought him the ticket to the national team.

#13 Mathias Paulson (Defender)
Mathias Paulson born to a wealthy Syrian Christian family in Southbay. He wasn't a soccer maniac or something, who would have started playing for clubs before teenage. He started playing at the age of fifteen for several local clubs including his school and college clubs. After this Sport Medicine graduation from Saint Louis Holiness College in Jawaruyah, he got a mail from the Jawaruyah XI FC for being a defence and fitness co trainer. With his outmost hardwork in the game, he soon won a lot of awards and got a call from Rockies International FC for being their defender. He soon left Jawaruyah for Rockies Islands, it was his perfect defending which let the club rise from Division to to Primary Division tournament Liga Prime. The Team reached top three of the primary division tournament after his arrival and he also received a lot of awards for his play. With his arrival in Liga Prime and as a successor to former Rockies Defender Maryland Bruno (Maryland is his nickname because he used to run a cookie brand called Maryland Food), he got into the radar of National team selectors. He later got the call of the selectors to join the national team camp which was the turnover in his career. He soon became a well known defender in the nation and the captain of Rockies International FC.

#4 Manu Nair (Defender)
Manu Nair, born as Mannankatt Raman Manu Nair in the city of Salingam is a nineteen year old youth product of the national youth team. His performance got him a seat in the Maharajas College where he pursued his bachelor degree. Maharajas FC shaped his career, where he was brought by Sindvpore FC to play for their youth team and later for the senior team. His performance for Maharajas FC had already put him in the books of the selectors and his extraordinary performance for Sindvpore helping them to win the FFI Confederations Trophy and FFI League of Victors opened his way to the national camp.

#14 Djetson Hazle (Mid Fielder)
Born as Djetson Hazlett to Dr. Henry Hazlett and Maria Henry in Sindvpore, Djetson change his surname at the age of sixteen to Hazle for joining film industry since there was a prominent star "Philip Hazlett" existing. Bechun's father was Takawilaka Butea, who got elected as the President of Sindvpore Football Federation. His quality sporting skills caught the eyes of the headmaster there, who admitted him to the local football training sessions. The headmaster soon send him to the Jawal-Biesse the nearest city for his studies. He played for the Jawal-Biesse FC for three years and captained the team until he was called to play for the Dhalopura FC. He got selected to the U-18 team as soon as he played his first match for Dhalopura FC. His quality play in the club also got him promoted as the captain of the youth team. His awesome, historical performance for the youth team got him a quick ticket to the National Team Camp. He is currently an important part of the national team who cannot be replaced easily.

#100 Goblin Grundjee (Forward)
Goblin Grundjee who is the first ever non-human sportsperson from Indusse. The Grundjee's are one of the families of the Goblin species that was created by the scientists by DNA Modelling. The scientists created a new race of Goblins through gene editing and combining the DNAs of Humans with certain animals and Algae. The goblin species were divided into three families were Grundjees are one of the major part. The other two families are called Mithys and Auris. The current members of the grundjee family is Colonel Grundjee who is a Colonel in the royal army of Indusse. The gene of colonel Grundjee was created by merging the genes of three colonels of the army with the genes of a eagle and the green algae. The green algae plays a necessary role in getting the green Color of the skin. The other member is Goblin Grundjee who is currently playing for the juniors. His gene was created by merging the genes of David Bekem, a former football and of a wild horse. The green algae is also a necessary part of the composition. The grundjee family has the green composition of skins due to green algae. Whereas, Mithys has a brownish red skin due to the presence of Blue-green Algae with Iron sediments, Auris family has the skin Color of a normal human as there isn't any presence of algae. The skin textures and patterns of the goblins are same as the humans and the color is the only thing that can discriminate it with humans. The scientific community believe that the goblin race will create revolution in the world of science. The creation of Goblin Grundjee was overseen by fellow player Bechun Butea who also played a major role in bringing Grundjee as a experimental player. Well, Grundjee is currently one of the best strikers the nation has seen.

Home Ground

The Aditya Varma Kulashekara International Stadium, is home to the Flocking Blues and is the largest sports stadium in the nation. The Aditya Varma Kulashekara International Stadium can hold 131,561 spectators in normal cases. The most attendance recorded for an event in the stadium was 148,241 spectators. This historical event happened long before the current stadium had been built. The former stadium known as IFA International Stadium had just a capacity of 108,112 and the event was the Sworn-in of Baskar H Kumar as the first president of the Indusse. In other words, the sworn in was also the same as the nation's independence day. The most spectators for a match was recorded as 118,232 spectators for a match between Indusse and Pratapgadh which was once a derby match.
Image

This Stadium was built first by Aditya Varma Kulashekara, the emperor of Indusse at his reign. The stadium was built as part of giving the Indussean Football Association, a home ground. The Stadium at its beginning had a capacity of 62,122 spectators and was later increased to 97,783. The Stadium also in the past hosted the home matches of Royal Hind City FC (Currently, New Hind City FC) and Hind United FC (Currently dissolved). The Hind United FC got dissolved into Royal Hind City FC and the club through enough funding brought some land near the Darbar Halls and built a stadium there which currently serves as their home ground and the nation's secondary home ground. The IFA Stadium was built close to the Hind River and was surrounded by small forests. The place then known to be Kadaathaaaru was chosen for the stadium, the name literally meant to be "Forest River". The stadium continued to host the nation's home matches until the IFA was disbanded after the invasion of the Islamic Conquerors. The Dari Sultanate rulers took over the nation and placed a ban on all sort of native entertainment including music and sports. The stadium was taken under the custody of the Dari Military and was converted into a arena to propagate Dari Propoganda. The Stadium was renamed as Neimat Abdullah Arena and the capacity was increased to 108,112. The Neimat Abdullah Arena also became the public execution grounds of Natives in Indusse. The Dari Supressed Native Freedom Fighters were beheaded, hanged and shot dead at these grounds. After the Independence, the stadium was renamed as IFA Stadium and held the nation's first independence day celebrations. After a few years, it was renamed to Aditya Varma Kulashekara International Stadium and the capacity was increased to 131,561. The Government then also decided to set up a monument for the natives who were killed by the supression. The Divya Azadi Stambh (Divine Freedom Pillar) located in the stadium complex is the so called monument. This Pillar is an important part of the nation's independence day celebrations.

Tactics:
Manager Geraldo Rys and his assistants Mara Tapi and Toms Elwin have decided to implement a slightly aggressive 3-5-2 formation during their tenure as Zenic's national team staff. This formation is intended to maximize the wingbacks' strengths without neutralizing the rest of the team's impact. The young wingbacks' stamina allows them to go forward and cautiously assist in attack to create goal-scoring chances while still being able to get back and provide numbers to stop opposition scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, the Center-backs, Central Midfielders and Forwards create a solid pillar through the heart of the pitch that is intended to both be an alternative route to goal scoring and a multi layered obstruction to the opponents.

My thanks to Tikariot for the initial TG'd 'Ho-ho-ho-holy Empire' roster inspiration

Image

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 99 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 5 World Cup titles; and its sole Cup of Harmony title was COMPLETELY INTENTIONAL.

The oldest team in the World Cup returns to the fray! Can they add to their tally of World Cup titles? Can they recover from their recent slide down the rankings? Can they continue their epic battle with Audioslavia over who gets to lose the most finals? Let's find out...

This tournament, the Ho-ho-ho-holy Empire is fielding a squad consisting of....

Evil swole Santa and his mötley crüe of power-lifting metalhead alpha elves

Image
[AI-generated image]

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list,
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out who's naughty and nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!

O! You better watch out!
You better not cry.
Better not pout, I'm telling you why.
Santa Claus is coming to town.

And you'd better believe that's a threat, dammit.

The Team:

GK:
Alabaster Dirtball

DEF:
Bushy Everdark
Barbariön
Chili Pepper Minstix

MID:
Motörhead
Stampy TemperFlakes
Swole Santa [CAP]
Sulky JingleLights
Deathtöngue

FOR:
Starry Evil-Doodle
Wunorse Openslay

SUBS:
GK - Happy
DEF - Sparky
MID - Jolly
MID - Smiley
FOR - Benchwarmer Bloodfang

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces.

The assistant coach remains Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini.

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1...

Image
Image

Home first, away second.

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

Santa and the elves would prefer to go shirtless to show off their six packs and incredible abs. While the rules don't allow that, expect them to remove their shirts at any opportunity.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

Because reality is malleable in the Empire, the stadium never looks quite the same twice, but mundy reports from visiting teams suggest that it looks something like this (sort of; usually; maybe):

Image
[AI-generated image]

RP instructions:
Have fun and use your imagination - but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm; largely because you can't.

But remember, this version of Santa is evil. He will use dirty tricks; he will try and provoke you into being naughty. Ditto the elves. So be good for goodness sake.

Evil swole Santa is particularly prone to using psychological tricks. He knows if your captain kicked a puppy when they were a teenager; he knows if your coach once cheated on their partner; he knows if your team has been bad or good; because he's Santa - evil Santa, but still Santa.

I welcome you sending me a TG outlining a couple of naughty things your squad members might have done in the past that I can turn into an RP. Or even particularly good things that Santa can sneer at if that's more your thing.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy [Eastern Orthodox Christian] monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.

Calgasia Football Team
Official roster for the 98th World Cup
Image

General Information

Nation: Calgasia
Trigram: CGS
Nicknames: Die Adler (The eagles), Unsere Mädchen und Jungen(Our Boys and Girls), the Black Eagles
Motto: Vorwärts! (Forward!)
Association: Calgasische Fussball-Bund - CFB
Head Coach: Hugo Sedler
Captain: Gloria Renner
Most caps: Jan Novák (32)
Top scorer: Jan Novák (18)
Record (W/D/L): 12-13-7

Roster

Legend:
Number -- Name -- Age -- Position -- Club
Starters in bold

Goalkeepers
1. Josef Kaltenbrunner -- 31 -- GK -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
13. Josef Sloup -- 30 -- GK -- Melperk Sport Verein
26. Jiri Srubek -- 22 -- GK -- Fussball-Club Bohunice

No changes for this line. Kaltenbrunner, Sloup and Kálnoky will be the goalkeepers for this team. Kaltenbrunner will be the starter. The 31 year old player has shown to be the most consistent keeper over the seasons, being a reliable player. His performance during the past tournaments was solid, not being responsible of big mistakes, and saving when he had to. His prowess with penalties is his weak spot. Sloup and Srubek are way more spectacular in their saves, and are fan favourites, but both are prone to sudden nerve-cracking mistakes, thus relegating them to the bench.

Defenders
2. Antonin Hojer -- 27 -- RB -- Melperk Sport Verein
3. Stefan Andris -- 25 -- CB -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
4. Martin Kargel -- 24 -- CB -- Phönix Sport Verein
14. Károly Hájos -- 23 -- LB -- Club Hungária
15. Matej Blecha -- 25 -- CB -- Fussball-Club Bohunice

19. Jakob Schulz -- 22 -- CB -- Zillertal SV
20. Nico Dorn -- 26 -- RB -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
24. Mía Wallner -- 25 -- CB -- Club Hungária
25. Milos Nágy -- 28 -- CB -- Club Hungária

The weakest line in the team, with some criticism in the air after their performance in the BoF 85, where they conceded some late goals that precented the Adlers to get more wins (and eventually failing to qualify to semis). The defence is dominated by the young pair Andris and Kargel, with 26 and 23 years respectively, with the addition of the defender of the year, Blecha, who brings a much needed energy to this line. The young centrebacks have an excellent ball control and passing, and their height makes them to be very safe in crosses and set pieces. The left flank in the 3-5-2 formation is for Károly Hajós. The 23 y/o Hungária player is one of the fastest players in the tournament, able to dash through lines and with a very effective left foot for crosses or set pieces, but sometimes struggles with concentration, making him a vulnerable spot for the other teams.
In the bench, Antonin Hojer is a reliable player, being more defence oriented and able to play in both flanks. His tactical sense will be crucial in a team that needs more experience in the multiverse stage. Centrebacks Nágy and Schulz will bring intimidation, strenght and centimetres to the defence, while Pálffy will bring speed and energy for the flanks. Mía Wallner will be a jack-of-all-trades, being able to play in several positions.

Midfielders
5. Béla Voss -- 26 -- CM -- Club Hungária
6. Max Bohren -- 26 -- CM -- Phönix Sport Verein
7. Xaver Webern -- 28 -- LW -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
8. György Biró -- 25 -- CAM -- Club Hungária
11. Zoe Urbánková -- 27 -- RW, CAM -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
12. Emil Sedlácek -- 22 -- CAM, W -- Melperk Sport Verein
16. Franz Holmeiner -- 28 -- CM -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
17. Christine Cieszyn -- 27 -- CM -- Melperk Sport Verein
18. Karel Pesek -- 24 -- CM -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
23. Gábor Szabó -- 29 -- ST, RW -- Club Hungária

The Adlers midfield will be dominated in the centre by Vass, Bohren and Szabó. The three players will control the flow of the game while maintaining a great workrate both in defence and offence phases. Szabó returns to the starting 11, and will take over the set pieces, corners and free kicks. In the right flank, we will find Webern. Their unpredictability when they have the ball possession (sometimes running for a cross, or cutting to the middle and combining with Sedlácek or Novák, or shooting) will make them constant threat for rivals.
In the bench, the coach will find plenty of options to choose. From the defensive-minded CDMs Holmeiner and Ciesszyn, to the more creative and explosive Urbanková, Sedlácek and Biró. Do not miss the chance to see Sedlacek; the CAM of Bohemian origin has, with only 21 years, one of the brightest futures in multiverse football. His ability to create chances for the teammates and his box-to-box approach to the game will make him a key player.
The roster is completed with Pesek, who has earned a reputation of being a reliable, no-nonsense player over the years playing for Bohunice.

Forwards
9. Jan Novák -- 24 -- ST -- Melperk Sport Verein
10. Gloria Renner -- 27 -- ST -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
22. Zoey Moser -- 28 -- ST -- Kaiserbad Social Club
21. Alex Gassenbauer -- 30 -- ST -- Fussball-Club Bohunice

Calgasia's chances lies in the shoulders of two players, Jan Novák and Gloria Renner. The former has established himself as one of the best players in the country with only 24 years, combining a fast and strong 1,85cm body with a great sense of the game, being able to combine with teammates and finding open spaces. Captain Renner, considered the best player in the country, will start in the right flank, with a similar role to Webern: disrupting the rivals with his unpredictability.

Tactics

Calgasia proposes a positive style, slightly more focused on attack than defence. The formation will be a 3-5-2, the coach has decided to switch to this flexible
formation, where the wingers drop down in defence to form a line of 5 defenders, while in attack they move up the flanks to support attacks, especially after stealing the ball. Key points:
-Wing play: true to national tradition, the Adlers will carry much of the attacking play down the flanks, looking to generate superiority or for the full-back to double the winger to generate space.
-Great physicality: another typical aspect of Calgasia is the prevalence of physical play over individual technique. Expect strong, fast players, able to launch quick counterattacks, and deadly for rivals if given enough space
-Nastier: defence is not the strong point of the team, so coach Sedler has encouraged the players to bring out their toughest side to try to compensate for the defensive fragility. Expect meaner defences, tougher style of play and more bookings.
-Dangerous set plays: Calgasian football puts a strong emphasis on tactics and strategy. Expect tactical corner kicks where the tall Calgasian players can gain an advantage over rivals.
-Not-so-great creativity: Calgasia can struggle a bit against tight defences, when there are few open spaces. The team thrives with open spaces, so playing against a very defensive-minded team can make them suffer. The team relies heavily on Renner, Szabó or Sedlácek to create goal chances when this situation happens.

Stadiums

For the WC99 Qualifiers, the Calgasian Fussball-Bund will utilize two stadiums:
Austro-Daimler Arena
Seats: 45350
Location: Goldstadt
Club: Goldstadt Sport Kreis
Get there: take the Tram 4 and get off at Sportzentrum
The main stadium in the country, this is a rebuild of the old GSK Stadion. Home of the Goldstadt Sport Kreis, the club with the largest fanbase in the nation, it boasts all the amenities and features of the new stadiums.

Olympiastadion
Seats: 39710
Location: Melperk
club: Melperk Sport Verein
Get there: take the red line bus and get off at Olympijský.
Located in the heart of the Charles University of Melperk campus, this is widely regarded as Calgasia's most passionate stadium, thanks in part to its unique acoustics, that amplifies the sounds of the crowd. Melperk is the capital of the Little Bohemia region, so expect to see the cheers especially pointed at Czech-origin players.

Amahne - Stade sur la Baie (70000) - home to Aminey CS (and the Aminey Caspians, Aminey Buffaloes, and Aminey Owls).
The flagship stadium, huge production values, the works. Azure-coloured seating under canvas roofing. A beautiful circular stadium built in foreign Classical traditions.

Shemurdar - Orange Bowl (54000) - home to Schemerdrecht SVV (and the Schemerdrecht Admirals).
More associated perhaps with the Admirals than the SVV, but it's nearly always sold out venue for great crowds in any sport. A robust, somewhat boring square monster with little attention paid to its external looks.

Maethoru - Rikalathen Arena (39000) - home to Maethoru SC (and Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula).
Close to the KFA's training grounds, at least it has that going for it. Crowds are a little quieter here than elsewhere. A pristine pitch with seating in a few shades of green matching the field, all seating covered.

Ethuweri - Stade Amandine (30000) - home to Tanques AOE (and the Etouille Vultures).
Some amazing drone shots over a stadium, a city, and a crowd that knows what makes life fun. Extremely sponsor-friendly with its skybox layout, at the cost of the view of some nosebleeds.

Thelesra - Estádio Fortaleza (29000) - home to Miradela GD (and the Santa Teresa Sabres).
Made to be exactly 1000 seats larger than their rivals' stadium, the Fortaleza is the upper-class stadium. They tried to make it look old and well-used with a specific standing-only section, but even there the privilege is palpable.
OR
Thelesra - Estádio Marítimo (26000) - home to Branvon CD.
The working class stadium that is, in all facets, a bit inferior to the Fortaleza. Except the crowds. There's no better stadium for wild crowds. Plenty of standing-only areas, no cover, barely making it through inspections.

Monrama - Armskirk Municipal Ground (26000) - home to Maynard AFC.
The unlucky Maynard team have asked the KFA to have their stadium used by the national team - as the only southwestern stadium. The Armskirk isn't a bad stadium by all means, but some of the creative decisions in seating arrangements haven't paid off.

Katahshi - Suzumebachi Stadium (32700) - home to Katashi-Kanatsu.
The biggest stadium in the east, Katahshi deserves a game. The fans will mostly just cheer for eastern players, though. It's a wonderfully modern and digital stadium - the first with screens going all around the place.

Garihnkatar - Golhampton Grounds (31000) - home to Sydberg Olympia.
Garihnkatar never had a big football culture, but that's changed, and the local Olympia have kept pace with the hype. Biggest city in the country, too. It feels like a much bigger stadium than it is, with plenty of options for later enlargement.

Ehbanna - Northern Arena (32000) - home to university team 'Aevanna Ecologiske Universitet'.
The KFA wants some games geographically spread across the country, and so the cold, dark, and cold gridiron Northern Arena is on the list. The largely roofed stadium is partially dug in to prevent the Arena from dominating the skyline.

Alahrenna - Spider Stadium (27100) - home to Advance Alara.
Eastern but not on the island Katahshi's on. Fans are used to seeing a lot of goals - which the Dragonflies don't do. The stadium has a lot of staggered mini-sections, make of that what you will.

Seterdahn - Hazel Arena (25400) - home to Straudum VV.
Biggest stadium in the northeast, as far as the mainland goes. Straudum's style matches the NT's style perfectly. Propped up by the massive (rich) IT sector. It's still sold out more often than not as one of the better stadium experiences out there.

Gilibehri - Uriagali Field (19500) - home to WSR AFC and Pride of Eaglebury.
Biggest/only stadium on the west coast. Gilibehri has an amazing, flourishing sports culture and it's no longer completely ignored by the other 99% of the country. The stadium boasts an impressive view of the mountains.

GK Goswijn Naaldemaker (26) - Katashi-Kanatsu
GK Ludlow Hawkfeather (24) - Maynard AFC
GK Jean-Luc Shoathen (19) - Tanques AOE

The time has come for a goalie under the age of 30. Naaldemaker has been learning from the best for a few years now, and with the grand old names out of the way, it's his spot to lose now. As the Kanatsu goalkeeper, he certainly has enough to do during a game (the club isn't exactly known for its defensive play) so keeping his focus on a much more defensive Dragonflies team will test him. Hawkfeather and Shoathen skyrocketed over guys like Antair, Pinon, Enav, and Odholthen. There's no real wrong answer among those six, but Hawkfeather's easy-going and hard-to-rattle mentality and Shoathen's high ceiling will do it.

Image
RB Thalek Sehorenden (20) - Maethoru SC
RB Sissigul Zulambee (23) - Straudum VV
RB Shoipeoru Muifunin (21) - Miradela GD

It's not just the goalies, it's the wingbacks as well. They're no longer rookies, but not by much. Maethoru's trusted Sehorenden enough to give him a shot at the position, and now the national team will likely do the same. He's very good on the ball, which is not a typical thing for Ko-orenite players, so he fills a niche that's hard to find otherwise regardless. We'll have to get used to his lack of speed compared to what we've always done at this position, though. Zulambee pushes up to teammates much more in the passing game, and is used to a clear structure at Straudum, and Muifunin is the best of the rest (Nieuwboom, Bassin, etc) and his performance at Miradela stood out.

CB Aoremis Aelea (33) -
CB Conrat Loper (24) - Serrapince, TMB
CB Keiki Todaka (24) - Urrheddiao, CMT
CB Charley Mellowby (26) - Maynard AFC
CB Unotak Zhomodhen (22) - Miradela GD
CB Wolfart Timmerman (22) - Schemerdrecht SVV
CB Lei yGorllaeneal (25) - Dí Maozöxê, FFD
CB Niniaw yLleamaid (31) - Dury FC, PFA
CB Dornared Kambarudhen (19) - Limecroft Et Abyss FC
CB Jyojarla Dyadal (26) - Maethoru SC
CB Abi Lavaud (33) - Chalesm FC, SRS
CB Egesa Aedil (28) - Cresthill United FC

In depth chart order. Aelea has the speed of a fullback but the mindset of a centreback, hence the position. He outspeeds nearly everyone on the team still at age 33, which allows the defence to be a bit more fluid vertically knowing that he can backtrack and still be on time most of the time. Loper and Todaka are the brains and the mentality behind the operation, respectively. Loper can get legendarily angry at teammates not following the gameplan - and 'politely' reminds them - while Todaka then repairs any emotional damage. Loper is also known for bone-crunching tackles while Todaka isn't half-bad in the buildup.

Mellowby should be the go-to backup with a lot of experience in a few different kinds of defences, so whatever we're running, he can handle it. The team will likely change shape and style a bit according to our opposition more than we expect them to adjust to us, so there'll be lots of gameplans. Zhomodhen is as all-round as they come but he's got a lot of growing to do before starting. At Miradela, he hasn't had the most stable club experience yet, either, but it looks as if he's pretty all-round except for the vision department, where's been caught out of position a few times. Timmerman is a gentle giant at around 2 metres, perfect for Schemerdrecht and for a bit of an undersized Ko-orenite NT. yGorllaeneal is very fast and used to a whole different kind of football in Farfadillis, yLleamaid is a pretty clever guy with good reflexes and positioning. Kambarudhen is completely new and a left-field selection, but his achievements at Top League's newest Limecroft Et Abyss speak for themselves. Dyadal, Lavaud, and Aedil are depth picks, and we don't expect to field them - but if needed, Lavaud especially can slot into nearly everything.

LB Theklen Senothonnau (23) - Straudum VV
LB Dwrwst yBons (23) - Schemerdrecht SVV
LB Sujimbee Haggigana (28) - Maethoru SC

Continuity at the leftback position. Senothonnau has been named Ko-oren's best footballer twice now, taking over the role neatly from Van Kalvenhaar before her. Both are/were incredibly fast and nimble with more than good passing and dribbling, posing danger wherever they are on the field. yBons is a brainier option for if we need to sit back and don't do reckless things, while Haggigana, able to rely much more on a solid backline at Maethoru, some of which have also been selected to the team, tends to need the others around him to shine.

Image
DM Hixinio Andrade (24) - Real Anasb, SAT

Andrade can count on a lot of playing time with his understudy Meigun out. He's a bulldog through and through, detecting and eliminating playmakers and creative attackers. This can happen with more vigour than the referee allows, though he's learnt to pace himself. At the same time, he's not the starting point for attacks: alright at circulation but not great at creation.

RM Elco Lamshuis (35) - Schemerdrecht SVV
RM Noryu Wullyu (27) - Lhor, CMT

Lamshuis is named the de facto starter, but we expect to get far more mileage out of Wullyu. Lamshuis plays narrower, closer to the axis of the field, looking for quick balls through. If the opponent has those gaps in their defence (or if Lamshuis can create them), that's more than fine. In other cases, if we need a bit of space and pace, it's Wullyu who can stretch defences and overload areas, even if he needs teammates to set him on course. Lethal in one-on-ones, but fairly harmless in busy traffic.

CM Annefleur Nakasarudhen (20) - Maethoru SC
CM Tonane Ogalthundhen (26) - Maethoru SC
CM Purelbusak Entatingun (31) - Scott City FC, DAR
CM Geom yCinrhadd (36) - Chamberley City, SYL

Central midfield is in a difficult spot. There's every temptation to simply go DM-RM-LM-AM and fully cut out the default pass distributors, but that would bypass some of the most eclectic players we have. At the same time, you can't play all four of them: with overlapping skillsets and all of them trying to occupy the same part of the field, things just don't work out. Nakasarudhen was dubbed the biggest talent in Ko-oren, and that moniker fell off a bit. She's still good, let there be no mistake, but the talent in defence simply outclasses what we have elsewhere. She's still an insanely fast thinker, so she can bail out the team as long as they let her have the ball, though. Ogalthundhen is her Maethoru teammate, who has all of the physicality that Nakasarudhen lacks. Tonane can hold her own defensively as well - a case for Andrade to maybe not play as much. But you kind of need both Maethoru midfielders at the same time to complement each other. By themselves they're not as effective. Entatingun and yCinrhadd are the 'old' default midfield - you simply can't pass them up. And who had yCinrhadd at 36 years old? Makes me feel old.

LM Ciriaco Laza (28) - Aminey CS
LM Raymond Uheregun (20) - Cresthill United FC
LM Yoshinori Takiguchi (24) - Miradela GD

A lot of creativity on the left side of the midfield. Laza is an infamous devourer of footage of his direct opponent and is overprepared for every opponent, and has the skills to follow up what he's seen as truly one of the best Ko-orenite non-defenders ever. His issue lies with his teammates usually, who can't execute on the field what he thought up and are often a step or so behind him. We're already looking forward to his coaching career. Uheregun is completely new to the professional level and has signed with Cresthill and already deserves a mention here, but it might be a little early to play him unless we're either confident or desperate. Takiguchi is likely a head of Uheregun still, but he's better the closer he is to the action. Isolated on the wing he's not finding ways to get involved.

AM Teiichi Tsuchimoto (28) -
AM Rachel Walbuck (30) - Limecroft Et Abyss FC

Tsuchimoto is currently without a club, while Walbuck accepted a Limecroft job and actually lifted them from the Second Division. Both play like they're at the tail end of their careers - which is not true, but they'll have to make ambitious club moves at some point. That said, they're on form and excel at anything social, as glue holding the attack together.

Image
ST Hannibal Sawyer (34) - Straudum VV
ST Loren Lemaigre (32) -
ST Rex Archer (35) - Aminey CS

Well, that's certainly a group. All well in their thirties, the trio of target men are still effective and efficient, but definitely more in a pinch hitting sense than a wrestles-centrebacks-for-90-minutes sense. Will the new coach field a striker all game or just for the final 20? Archer had the highest ceiling of the three but he's 35; Lemaigre is a very selfish finisher; Sawyer can do a lot with few opportunities (Straudum things).

Image
We play post-football, a term coined during World Cup 89 to put words to a horrible semifinal between Audioslavia and the Dragonflies, which ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, then all but one penalty was scored in the ensuing series. Post-football means no singing. No cheering. No scoring. Post-football is sideways passes, looking like the same, repetitive movements for minutes on end, but with tiny variations that at some point will get to you. It could be a counterattack, or a shot from distance, or a set piece. Post-football doesn't care if it takes 90 or 120 minutes, or more. Under Juliasterinthen and Davenport, the Ko-orenites earned a reputation as the perfectly positioned, tactical-yet-mean defensive team. Containing, capitalising, exploiting. Patience and countering.

Image
We expect a 5-4-1 (LB, three CBs, RB, then two DMs, two CMs) or even a 6-3-1 (LB, 3 CBs, two RBs, most likely, and 2 DMs and Nakasarudhen). It's all about finding a new mix, so any combination of 'lots of defenders' and 'one or two of Andrade and Meigun, and always Nakasarudhen' works.

Numbers 1 to = typically start (but not always, feel free to choose your starters). That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, and =.
Numbers 1-1= are typically selected as starters or subs (but not always, feel free to select some 23+-ers as subs or starters).
Numbers 20 and over are mostly there as emergency replacements, but can be part of the squad for some games. These are almost always younger players with a lot of promise.

THE HOT DAMN TEAM
Image

Full Nation Name: Hapilopper Overseas Territories: Dominion Anaia Maritime Neighborhood
Trigramme: HAA
Nickname: Officially: The Beer Leaguers
Team Colors: Blue, Green

Info:
HOT-DAMN, the Hapilopper Overseas Territories: Dominion Anaia Maritime Neighborhood, is open for business, and is riding one hell of a wave of momentum. The team, formerly known as the Kensington Town Soccer Club, a beer league team that used to play on Sunday afternoons in public parks across Hapilopper, stunningly made it to the knockouts of World Cup 98 before being (expectedly) eliminated by mighty Valanora despite (unexpectedly) putting up quite the fight. Following the end of their World Cup 98 hopes, many of the beer leaguers decided against continuing to play. They either set up shop in their new HapAnaia home or returned home to Esportivan Hapilopper. And that presented Jimmy Eaton with quite the dilemma. For a brief moment, he considered stopping the Kensington Town project and going back to running a bar. But his problem resolved itself when, stunningly, Hapiloppian players in droves inquired about the HOT-DAMN national team. Many new players - and players good enough to be part of a top-flight national team, no less - are a part of the HOT-DAMN squad, which could lead to one hell of an arms race between HOT-DAMN and Esportivan Hapilopper.

COACHING STAFF:
DIRECTOR: James Eaton
Image

Jimmy Eaton, the owner of Laughing Pup Bar across the street from Neighborhood Stadium, decided that it would be difficult for him to keep up with some of the world's top stars, and even more difficult to coach a new breed of rising stars that may not align with his original idea of going out to play, have fun and make new friends along the way. So Jimmy decided he'd step down as head coach and find his replacement. Jimmy, however, still is in charge of the national team as the executive director, a position he holds along with running the bar. In searching for a new head coach, Jimmy found a very surprising replacement.

HEAD COACH: Ernie Stevenson
Image

In a stunning coup, Eaton hired Ernie Stevenson, the former assistant coach of Ellis Football, to serve as the head coach of the HOT-DAMN squad. The hiring of Stevenson marked the first massive salvo in a brewing Hapilopper/HOT-DAMN arms race. During the end of Hapilopper's group stage run in World Cup 98, disagreements were evident between Stevenson and Hapilopper Acting Head Coach Thom Perkins, and following Hapilopper's defeat to Juvencus, a very large, very public argument broke out between the two, where Perkins accused Stevenson of poor tactics, while Stevenson accused Perkins of going away from the method that the late Nathan Ellis had devised to bring the Hapiloppian squad back to prominence. This cycle, Stevenson will rely on the 4-4-2 formation that has worked well for both Hapiloppian and HOT-DAMN squads.

STADIUM:
Brewery Stadium | New Hap City, HOT-DAMN | Built: 2030
Capacity: 31,535 | Open-Air | Natural Grass
Image

Built as part of the new HOT-DAMN project in southern Nova Calania, Brewery Stadium was funded, as you'd expect, by both Snap's and Hobbs Brewery, the two top breweries in Hapilopper. The 30,000 seat stadium is the first permanent home for the HOT-DAMN national team. Previously, the team played at Raceway Park in Buckridge in Hapilopper, and before then, in a field near the old Laughing Dog Bar and Grill. This stadium features all the amenities of a major soccer stadium, including luxury boxes for the rich and a large bleacher section behind both goals. A wild group of fans have converged on these sections and promise to make life beautiful for the Beer Leaguers, while making life a living hell for the opposing team.

UNIFORMS:
Image

HOT-DAMN will use two jerseys for regular players. The first jersey will be worn at most matches, while the second jersey, the Anaia Special, will be worn at a match TBA. The third jersey is for goalkeepers.

PLAYERS:
With the influx of new players arriving to both the Hapiloppian and HOT-DAMN squads, the roster posts have been revamped. There may be a little less detail to go around, but there are more players on both squads to worry about. Not to worry, you'll still learn more about these players as time progresses.

HOT-DAMN PLAYER POOL - WORLD CUP 99 CYCLE
(Likely starters in red, bench players in bold)

GOALKEEPERS
## Player Age Position Team Kicks Personality
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Bob Willard 24 Sweeper W.H.Sports Club Right Relaxed
30 Jim Dash 34 Sweeper Kensington Town Left Patient
60 Marc McBeth 27 Save/Pray Garvinson Trojans Right Asshole
90 John Ritchie 24 Save/Pray Pinkerton City SC Right Clumsy

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Jim Dash (#30) is your most likely starter. Bob Willard (#1) is the second-stringer. Dash is considered one of the leading reasons HOT-DAMN made it to the knockout rounds of World Cup 98 - against any and all prevailing logic. Attempts at trying other goalkeepers ended in disaster. Dash knows this and has grown something of a big head. Before home matches in New Hap City, Dash has insisted on being introduced as the "Bad Dash" Jim Dash - complete with his own theme song that goes "I'm a Dash man, *bewp bewp*, yes I'm a Dash man..." as he shakes his rear end to the delight of the fans in New Hap City, and to the horror of new manager Ernie Stevenson.

Willard, the second-stringer, had little playing time during the CAFA Cup, largely due to an injury he sustained in practice. Marc McBeth, a recent hire from the Garvinson Trojans, filled the goal for most of the CAFA, and did not impress during his run. He has been dropped to a second-stringer. McBeth also did little to impress manager Ernie Stevenson with his attitude. He is not expected to have much playing time during the World Cup 99 qualifiers.

DEFENSEMEN
## Player Age Position Team Kicks Personality
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 Randy Russell 31 Fullback Kensington Town Right Asshole
3 Elwood Davis 31 Fullback Kensington Town Right Stupid
4 Bruce Tatum 35 Centerback Kensington Town Left Obnoxious
05 Gael Hicks 36 Centerback Kensington Town Right Asshole

21 Freddy Joyner 33 Fullback Kensington Town Left Patient
22 Matt Sudbury 26 Centerback Peoria FC Right Antisocial
23 David McNalley 22 Centerback Washington FC Right Calm
24 Huey Holman 27 Fullback North Hampton FC Right Patient
25 Red Duggan 21 Centerback Pinkerton City SC Right Brooding
26 Stuart Clark 30 Fullback Halsted Heat Right Professional
27 Tanner Barbon 25 Fullback F.C. Hap City Right Calm
28 Brady Jackson 21 Centerback Minortown S.C. Left Clumsy
29 Kaysen Defang 23 Centerback United Hampton C. Left Antisocial

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
The defense corps is more or less intact from HOT-DAMN's days as the Kensington Town Soccer Club, with a couple of exceptions. The starting defense is expected to consist of Russell, Davis, Tatum and Hicks. Hicks and Davis are both on disciplinary probation, for two varied (and in Davis's case, ridiculous) reasons. Hicks was put on probation after clotheslining midfielder Mark Abbott during practice. That hit sent Abbott to a local hospital and sent Ernie Stevenson out to give Hicks a real piece of his mind. Davis, meanwhile, crashed his car into a fire hydrant across the street from Laughing Pup in New Hap City, sending water flying everywhere, flooding the street and the bar. His wild interview on the local news very nearly got him kicked off the team.

Likely starters are Russell (#2), Davis (#3), Tatum (#4) and Hicks (#05). Hicks's number has changed from 5 to 05 at the request of new head coach Stevenson, a friend of the late Nathan Ellis. Like with Team Hapilopper, HOT-DAMN has retired the number 5 in honor of Ellis.

Likely bench players are Joyner (#21), Duggan (#25), Barbon (#27), Defang (#29).

MIDFIELDERS
## Player Age Position Team Kicks Personality
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 Zack Webster 32 Left Midfield Kensington Town Left Calm
7 Anthony Donis 34 Right M'field Kensington Town Right Creative
8 R.J. Grove 22 Def. Midfield Cap City United Right Relaxed

9 Lee Mallinger 20 Off. Midfield Hap City Soldiers Right Superstar
31 Buckshot Belwood 23 Hybrid Midfld Halsted Heat Right Unlucky
32 Rex Hughes 21 Hybrid Midfld K. Warriors Right Stupid
33 Jeff McMurphy 24 Def. Midfield F.C. Buckridge Left Creative
34 Michael Shammes 22 Off. Midfield F.C. Buckridge Right Asshole
35 Hosea Darcy 25 Hybrid Midfld Lake Sprague FC Right Relaxed
36 Henry Fayette 23 Hybrid Midfld Highway Patrol Right Asshole
37 Herb Caldecott 28 Hybrid Midfld Minortown S.C. Right Stupid
38 Kenley Jarrett 23 Hybrid Midfld Washington FC Right Antisocial
39 Mark Abbott 18 Hybrid Midfld C. Harris' School Right Intense

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Lots of changes here in the midfielder's room. Zack Webster and Anthony Donis come back from the old beer leaguer's squad, but they are joined by a host of Hapiloppian professional footballers, and one 18-year old straight out of Cooter Harris's School of Fine Football Learnin'. That 18-year old, Mark Abbott, is still recovering from an injury suffered after being clotheslined by Gael Hicks, so his time will likely be very limited. Likely to break away from the pack is Henry Fayette, a 23-year old wizard in the midfield, but someone whose own attitude on and off the pitch may his limiting factor. Simply put: Henry Fayette is a dickhead. He's a dickhead to his teammates, to his friends and to his fans. He thinks he's God's gift to this world, and he might play like it, but such behavior won't last in Ernie Stevenson's team. Also likely to break away from the pack is Buckshot Belwood, a 23-year old hybrid midfielder likely to start games for HOT-DAMN. Buckshot is a magnificent ballplayer, and magnificent in the midfield. He's got the kind of attitude that Ernie Stevenson craves in his ballplayers. Only one problem: Buckshot gets into collisions. A lot. And Buckshot gets hurt. A lot. Supposedly has a blood feud with someone named Randy but that remains to be seen.

Likely starters are Webster (#6), Donis (#7), Grove (#8), Belwood (#31).

Likely bench players are Mallinger (#9), Hughes (#32), Fayette (#36).

FORWARDS
## Player Age Position Team Kicks Personality
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
10 Cale Mallett 21 Goalscorer Highway Patrol Left Superstar
11 Justin Cherry 23 Goalscorer Garvinson Trojans Right Professional

41 Ted Ingram 30 Striker Kensington Town Right Professional
42 Daquan Simmons 20 Striker C. Harris' School Right Relaxed
43 Albert DeWine 22 Goalscorer Garvinson Trojans Left Antisocial
44 Vince Jackson 24 Goalscorer Lake Sprague FC Right Goofball
45 Larry Gavin 29 Striker Hap City Generals Right Redneck
46 Jack Tracy 31 Striker Halsted Heat Right Indifferent
47 Aaron Courtney 24 Striker Halsted Heat Right Intense
48 A.J. Butterball 23 Goalscorer F.C. Hap City Right Obnoxious
49 Zack Rudd 26 Striker Cap City United Right Brooding

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
This is a totally revamped squad from the old beer league squad. Leading the way is Cale Mallett, whose artistic style of goalscoring resembles that of a younger Ernie Stevenson from his day. Mallett knows it, too. Mallett feels he is good enough to play in some of the international club leagues around the multiverse - which sounds great on paper, but may be difficult to pull off due to Hapilopper's recently insulated attitude towards international players and clubs. So if you never see Hapiloppian players on the transfer window or Hapiloppian teams not bidding, that's why.

Either way, Mallett is quite the goalscorer and is hoping to replicate Ernie's infamous "hop-skip-holy shit" goal from years gone by. Ernie is trying to dissuade him from this and is concerned his attitude may turn out to be a negative for the team, not a positive. Justin Cherry, the other goalscorer, has expressed some concern that Mallett is trying to build the team into a showcase for himself and not into a unit set for everyone. Cherry has discussed this concern with Stevenson, who agrees with this sentiment. It will be interesting to see what happens with these two players, particularly if the results don't show like they did not do during the CAFA Cup.

Likely starters are Mallett (#10), Cherry (#11).

Likely bench players are Ingram (#41), Butterball (#48).

The Crpostranian Football Association
presents
The Sapphire Strikers
for
the 99th World Cup - Siovanija & Teusland, Banija & the Squornshelan Remnant States

After the men's team managed to get the CFA's trophy cabinet filled with it's first "silver"-ware, thanks to it's runner-up finishes at the World Cup 98 & the recently completed regional Independent Association Championship in Reçueçn. The Crpostranian football team has now become one of the most strongest teams in the multiverse. The team, now dubbed the "Golden Generation" of Crpostranian football, will look to continue establishing records. The Crpostranian Football Association rather than sending in a defined squad, announced that it will be taking players from a pool of nearly 30 players to let usual reservists have options to rotate during matches/matchweeks. The stadiums which will host the WCQs in Crpostran will be revealed once the schedule & the groups are drawn. The men's team back from a runner-up treble double, at their second highest peak in the multiverse, at 5th (down from 4th post-IAC). The public hopes that the team will give a good farewell to the "Great Wall of Crpostran" & the captain-defender, Benjamin Lefevre, in what many speculate to be his final run at the World Cup. Will Ivan & Co. continue the good run? Kits, roster & other information given below.

The Starting XI & Formation
Image

How does it work? Well, since both of the wingbacks are quite offensively gifted, the idea is to allow them freedom to roam upfield when the team has the ball. In order to do this and prevent the massive overload that a 2-at-the-back would be vulnerable to, the defensive midfielder slots between the two center-backs to become a third defender. The defensive midfielder is a vital role in this attack, as he must have high awareness of the situation and be able to read counter-attacks quickly, or else the whole thing falls apart.

This event will be the penultimate run for the WorldRestart kits, as their contract as the main sponsor of the Kamijiroan national team is set to expire. Shown below are the current kits.
Image

The stadium being used for the Kamijiroan home field is a small 6,500-seater on Jirō Island. The airport at Spolia is the recommended landing spot for incoming teams, as it is a mere 20 minutes walk from the field and has its own hotel and amenities. Below is a picture of the stadium, known officially as WorldRestart Arena on Jirō, but more colloquially known as the JirōSekai.

Richelieu Øy Fotballag
Équipe nationale de football d'Île de Richelieu

Nation Information
Full Name: Fri Stat av Richelieu Øy
Capital: Sankt Hans Havn or Port Saint-Jean
Demonym: Richelois or Richelisk
Nickname: Bears

Short Nation History:

Île de Richelieu (formerly known as Jan Mayen Island) was discovered by Dutch explorers early in the 17th century and served as a whaling base until it was abandonned. France claimed the island in the 19th century and renamed it Île de Richelieu (Richelieu Island) but the island's jurisdiction was finally given to Norway. The French speaking majority, led by the clergy, declared the independence of Île de Richelieu in 1948.

However, in winter 2024-25, during the Independents Championship 20, the nation was the theater of a military Coup d'État made by the Nasjonal Patriotisk Front av Richelieu Øy (NPFRO) and it's leader, Ragnhild Østerberg. Former Cardinal of Île de Richelieu, Jean-René De la Sablonnière, his wife and his older son, Jean-William De la Sablonnière, an 18 years old professional football player, all died in the Coup d'État. Many French speaking Richelois fled the nation and dispersed themselves all over the multiverse.

Home Stadium

Norwegian name: Bjørnefjellets Nasjonalstadion
French name: Stade national de la montagne de l'ours
English name: Bear Mountain National Stadium
Capacity: 11,569
Location: Sankt Hans Havn (Port Saint-Jean), Richelieu Øy

Image

The Bjørnefjellets Nasjonalstadion has been build specifically for international matches. Île de Richelieu's population is 543 since the Coup d'État, so, with a capacity of 11,569, a little more than 10,000 foreign football fans can attend the games!

The stadium has 3 stands. East Side stand, West Side stand and North Endline Stand. There is a small VIP stand on the south endline and the pressbox is located on the south endline as well. The stadium has lights on the four corners so evening games can be played. The stadium doesn't have a video board, nor a scoreboard.

Île de Richelieu's population is 543. The largest city and capital city is Sankt Hans Havn (Port Saint-Jean) and one third of the island's population lives in the city (182). The city have a few upscale restaurants along with fast food restaurants and some local pubs. Beer is largely consumed on the island and Richelois likes to get around at the local pub after work.

The island only have one hotel and it may cause a problem if 10,000 football fans are coming. The only hotel on the island is a 124 room SpringHill Suites by Marriott located in the old Port Saint-Jean and half of hotel will be reserved for the visiting team (players, staff and media) who will have 50 rooms at their disposal. The remaining rooms (74) will be sold at a high price for football fans. The island also has a dozen of guesthouses that ranges from 1 to 8 rooms each. Football fans will have to bring their tents and sleeping bags and camp on the outskirts of the town!

île de Richelieu has a hyperoceanic polar climate with a Köppen classification of ET (polar with tundra), sometimes reckoned as EM (maritime polar). Seasonal temperature variations are extremely small considering the latitude of the island, with ranges from around 6 °C (43 °F) in July/August to −4 °C (25 °F) in February/March. The highest recorded temperature in the summer was 18.1 °C (64.6 °F) in june and the lowest recorded temperature was -28.4 °C (-19.1 °F) in february. Being located inside the arctic circle, île de Richelieu experiences sun light almost all day long in the summer and darkness almost all day long in the winter.

"When you're down low, the only way is up."

These words echo the sentiment currently surrounding the Aphrilian National Team. After a horrendous WCQ 98 Campaign, Christopher Vermont was sacked and Leonardo Bianchi was brought in to try and turn things around. Fortunately, he was able to do exactly that as Aphrilia finished an incredible third place in the 23rd edition of the Independent Associations Championship, winning 1 - 0 over opposing side Ile de Richelieu as Ines Forrestal scored the winning goal. For many, they saw this as the revival of what was once considered a rising star on the international footballing stage. However, the team still faces an uphill battle. New names, returning names, old ones, all of them are here once more.

Will The Anchors follow through on their resurrection? Or will they implode again?

TEAM TACTICS
UNOFFICIAL: This is not an official analysis, this was a community effort by several Aphrilians. Thanks to OuijaBard_222 & falcoSmarts for the online summarization and everyone else who contributed to making this analysis! Man the new national team tactics are a headache to figure out.
Even after Christopher Vermont's sacking, Leonardo Bianchi chose that The Anchors continue to play a 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 Diamond.

The new tactics that the national team are using seem to be a blend of both old and new. The team still has that whole "Anchor" thing controlling the team's pace and tempo, but it also looks like the players have apparently been given freedom to break out of tempo when needed (Whether to recover from mistakes or take advantage of them, among other scenarios). Other changes include that The Anchors seem to have ditched the whole "specific tempo" thing and just play according to the pace that the the "Anchor" sets. It's more difficult to describe since it's not as tight-knit or precise, but that would be the general gist of how they play. Of course, it's still not as fast as usual offensive oriented teams, but the average speed of play seems to have been increased. And honestly? This was definitely coming sooner or later, and fortunately it was the latter.

As for the team's offense and defense... Let's start with the former. The team seems to have made changes in how the team attacks. Sure, they still play on the counterattack to take the opposition off-guard, but they've also added a lot of variety in how they move the ball forward. They let players who specialize in certain areas play completely to their strengths (Forrestal out wide to cut in, Rosberg just outside the opposition box, etc), and each player seems to know when to attack now. But the biggest changes were for defense. Historically this was a high-press team, but Bianchi with his Bianchism was known best for the usage of the offside trap. Well now? Seems like they're keeping the high-press but for man-to-man. But when doing zonal defense, the team seems to switch to a mix of zonal marking with the offside trap (Is that how it should be described?). In short, the team's made changes and improvements everywhere, Bianchi is a gamechanger, and this team should (Hopefully) do better this time around.

FAN CULTURE
Aphrilians can be both patriotic and respectful most of the time. The keywords in that sentence being most of the time.

At home, Aphrilians will be chanting, singing, and cheering on from the beginning to the end of the match. And with the Millennium Dawn Stadium being designed in a way that gives the home crowd a good advantage (All within the rules), expect intense pressure from the stands. Tifos will be displayed, flags will be waved. No matter the end result, this nation will support it's team to the very end. However, they will be respectful to the opposition team and the away fans that travelled all the way to Darlingtown to see their team. Alcohol is banned in stadiums in a continuous effort to keep hooliganism at bay, and security is guaranteed for the teams as well as fans. The home crowd are friendly a lot of the times, so expect harmony and kinship before and after the match. This attitude is also shared for those who go to the away games, being respectful and proud.

And that is most of the time. However, when Aphrilians do end up getting rowdy, they can often cause quite the commotion. Public disturbance, vandalizing, damage to public and private property, those kind of things. But overall, the fanbase is calm enough that these occurrences are a sort of "once in a blue moon" kind of thing. In most cases where Aphrilians are reserved before and after matches, they often socialize with not only their own but also away fans whenever The Anchors are playing at home. On away days, the fans that are willing to make the trip will be sociable depending on if there's any restrictions placed on them as away fans or not. Generally having fun with each other before and after the matches by sharing songs, playing games with one another, enjoying the before and after festivities of a hopefully exciting football match.

Short Nation History:

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer is a city state of 78 square kilometers located in Anaia and founded in lhe 18th century by Jean-Jacques Le Boucanier (John James The Buccaneer), a pirate of unknown North or Central Calanian origin who decided to retire from piracy and found his own nation south of his country of origin. Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer has emerged in the 20th century as a merchant city state which favors capitalism. The current ruler of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer is Prince Pierre-Alexandre 1er de Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, a direct descendant of Jean-Jacques Le Boucanier. Elections are outlawed in Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer. The national animal is the tapir, which you can see wandering in our streets.

Burnham-on-Stove

Burnham-on-Stove is a city state of 54 square kilometers located in Anaia. It used to be a district whitin Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and it's named after William Robert Burnham, a pirate and friend of Jean-Jacques Le Boucannier. In september 1923, several communist districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, mostly of English origin, declared their independence and formed the new nation of Burnham-on-Stove. The Burnhamese Communist Party is the only authorized party in Burnham-on-Stove. The national animal is also the Tapir.

Nova Calania

500: The first documented permanent Aztec settlements in Nova Calania dates from around 500 AD.

1748: Explorers of Polish origins came to the area just south of Krytenia and southwest of Ibixa and founded the town of Ostrow Krolewski on the shores of the Ocean of Ayes. They named the area Odlegla Ziemia (Distant Land).

1760-1820: Odlegla Ziemia expanded southwest and further inland on the east.

1793: Jean-Jacques Le Boucanier established his colony in what is known today as Vieux-Saint-Jean-Jacques (Old St. Jean-Jacques) or Vieille-Ville (Old Town) just northeast of Cardenao. This is the foundation of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer. The city state expanded on both side of the Stove river.

1818: Explorers of Asian origin came to the area between Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Odlegla Ziemia and founded the city state of Shanzhou. This stopped Odleglian expansion southwest of their capital.

1851-54: The Aztecs, helped with some mercenaries from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove, attacked Odlegla Ziemia and took back 1/3 of Odlegla Ziemia's land that was previously stolen from the Aztecs.

1923: Districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer located north of the Stove river (mostly English speaking) declared their independence and formed a new communist state under the name of Burnham-on-Stove.

2023: Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove united to form a new sporting alliance. Both nations remained independents on all aspects, except they shared a joint national team in all sports.

2025: On may 15th 2025, leaders from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, Burnham-on-stove, Odlegla Ziemia, Shanzhou and the Nova Calanian Aztec Confederacy united together to form the United States of Nova Calania. Unlike Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove, it's not just a sporting alliance. It's a policical, economic, military and sporting alliance.

Summary
Kelssek's tactical culture is fluid and direct, generally favouring technical and versatile players. Within each positional group, players are listed in order of the likelihood they will play.

Megan Woodwell GK, Burnaby SC (age 30) - 20 caps | Commanding keeper who puts the fear of Satan into her defence - in the sense of they're going to catch hell if they don't listen to her.
Maxime Carrieri GK, CF Outineau, b. Outineau (age 28) - 2 caps | The future of the number 1 shirt? He's definitely stamped his claim to the Outineau shirt with his Champions League winning form.
Jenas Maraipu GK, Kirkenes FC, b. Outineau, BL (age 33) - 48 caps | A product of the Association Ariddienne youth program. Pounces and catches balls with catlike technique.
Alison Troczynski GK, Latrobe Athletic, b. Latrobe (age 29) - 10 caps | Jack of all goalkeeping skills, master of some. Affable but also odd in the way goalkeepers can tend to be.

Alain-Elric Sauvé LB, CF Outineau, b. Outineau, Bea. (age 28) - 25 caps | Aggressive interceptor of the ball and incisive on the overlap
James Jouppi LB, Shearwater, b. Coquitlam, Kon. (age 24) - 13 caps | Talented, inconsistent, exciting
Ella Bastien LB, Baskita [PAS], b. Elmira, Kon. (age 29) - 10 caps, 2 goals | A late bloomer who went off to Xanneria when unable to make headway in Kelssek, and has now found a groove in Pasarga.
Sandrine Lalande CB, Tihon [CMT] b. Saint-Richard, BL (age 26) - 11 caps, 1 goal | Tough tackler able to pinpoint a long ball through the lines, the next big thing in centre-backs.
Iain Vergland CB, Sivolvia Central, b. Burnaby (age 29) - 12 caps | Wasn't good enough for Burnaby SC, and now with an IFCF Champions League medal he sure showed them.
Bleke Durocher CB, Kirkenes FC (age 29) - 20 caps | Was in Kelssek Championship team of the year so quite good apparently.
Anton Zivkovic CB, Hamiltonian Cambria, b. Ostendar, NC (age 22) - 0 caps | Large defensive unit you don't want to go shoulder to shoulder with.
Lourence Hupe CB, CF Outineau (age 25) - 9 caps | Elite positioning means she doesn't often have to put in one of her precise tackles.
Jérôme Nyhof RB, Eyrods [CMT], b. Langlois, Bea. (age 23) - 8 caps | Elite dribbling, skills, and athleticism with a penchant for reckless tackles.
Sorcha Cleeves RB, Océanic CF, b. Kirkenes, NC (age 26) - 5 caps, 1 goal | Overlooked by the clubs in her home republic, burst onto the scene when she seized a spot in Océanic's Championship-winning side through sheer speed and chance-creating ability from out wide.
Volodymyr Casiraghi RB/LB, Océanic CF, b. Langlois (age 22) - 0 caps | Talented tackler with quick feet and pace.
Tobert Usher RB, CF Outineau, b. Outineau, Bea. (age 29) - 57 caps, 3 goals | Has got a wicked cross on him and loves an underlap. Captained Outineau to a league title and Champions League win.
Eilwen Loew RB/LB, Guard FC [DAR], b. Burnaby, Kon. (age 30) - 33 caps | Speedy, high work-rate, binge-watches reality TV shows.

Logane Nordet DM, CF Outineau, b. Outineau (age 27) - 9 caps | Being the rock of a team that wins the Champions League is one way to get the national team's attention.
Titan Pogbacar CM, Burnaby SC, b. Burnaby, Kon. (age 24) - 46 caps, 9 goals | Physically imposing and technically impressive. Ball-progressing wonderkid who can really get on his bike.
Kaiden Pépin CM/AM [captain], Kirkenes FC, b. Saint-Richard (age 32) - 56 caps, 3 goals | Calming presence in the midfield who always knows how to control the pace.
Agapeto Licea CM/DM, Burnaby SC, b. Mineru, Kon. (age 25) - 32 caps, 1 goal | A strangely chaotic yet firm defensively-minded midfielder.
Errol Lìos CM/AM, Soldarian [VAL], (age 28) - 17 caps, 1 goal | Box-to-box midfielder who always seems to put himself into the thick of it.
Sofie Mylonakis AM/CF, Hamiltonian Cambria, b. Kirkenes (age 26) - 0 caps | Come for the set piece skills, stay for the link-up play.
Alberto Rendon CM/AM, Anomalies [CMT], b. Kirkenes (age 29) - 4 caps, 1 goal | Farfadillis dual national.
Alejandra Younes DM/CM, SK Franz Josef City [STL], b. Mistgwyn, NC (age 32) - 18 caps | Dogged midfield anchor. Determined but also impulsive and easily wound-up.

Chike Obident RW/AM, CF Outineau, b. Latrobe (age 27) - 41 caps, 10 goals | High-skill spark plug of a player who's already proven offensive producer at multiple clubs.
Ella Moore LM, Raynor City United [KSK], b. Beaupré-sur-Mer, BL (age 31) - 7 caps, 2 goals | You can't just pay attention to players because they got signed by RCU...
Julius Heer LW, Schemerdrecht SVV [KOR], b. Bramleigh, NC (age 33) - 76 caps, 9 goals | Full-backs HATE his technical ability and his love of nutmegging them on the byline. Has a koi fish tattoo on his left arm for some reason.
Sammy Mao RW/CF, Shearwater, b. Breton, Ha. (age 24) - 24 caps, 5 goals | Explosive pace and a creative force.
Rory Joseph RM/RW, Burnaby SC, b. Kingstown, Kon. (age 32) - 60 caps, 6 goals | Very rapid. Much creative. Hair product endorser.
Terence de Landa AM, CS Saint-Rémy, b. Burnaby, Kon. (age 31) - 58 caps, 3 goals | Dynamic, gangly playmaker at his best carrying the ball forward.
Emre Massinen AM/CF, Clayquot City, b. Clayquot (age 25) - 12 caps, 2 goals | Has two killer moves: the pivot-and-shoot, and a nose for link-up play. Otherwise highly average.

Lionel an Deòir ST, FK Metropola Borograd [STL] b. Torbay (age 28) - 65 caps, 36 goals | Pacey and has an inadvisedly powerful shot. Prolific but scores in bunches - or maybe that's a nice way of saying "inconsistent".
Rolando Cutter CF/LW, Olympia Borograd [STL], b. Kingstown, Kon. (age 21) - 22 caps, 5 goals | Allegedly the next Colm Ó Tuathail. Great technical player with a tendency to drift wide.
Rémy Niemi ST, CF Outineau, b. Outineau, Bea. (age 22) - 14 caps, 8 goals | Adept at playing the target-man or poacher role. Doesn't know his used socks are being traded on the dark web.
Ariana Coulter ST, Latrobe Athletic, b. Kildera (age 26) - 3 caps, 2 goals | Quick trickster who likes to go for the spectacular.
Zoé Goh-Lemaire ST, 1923 Esca [MYT], b. Kirkenes (age 31) - 48 caps, 13 goals | Playmaking forward with great link up play and a sense for gobbling up rebounds.

Head coach: Obey Chidiebere [BNJ], age 54 | Hired away from Latrobe Athletic, where he won one league title and three Patriotes Cups, he previously played for Herzegovina City and Coquitlam United.

Honours: Cup of Harmony 43 champions, 2-time Ad'ihan Challenge Trophy winners
Direct free-kicks: Julius Heer, Sofie Mylonakis

Fan culture
Kelssek's national teams are nicknamed the Voyagers in reference to the fact that major international tournaments are practically always in a different region and many time zones away (unless Kelssek is hosting it, of course).
Maybe Tomorrow is common to all national teams:
Voyagers, they keep on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be
Onward Kelssek, the shout from everyone
Step by step, fighting on, till glory's won
Maybe tomorrow, our journey will be done
Until tomorrow, we'll just keep movin' on

Tune: "Maybe Tomorrow" (Littlest Hobo theme song)

Summer of 46 is sport-specific, and references the hosting of World Cup 46, the watershed in soccer actually becoming popular in Kelssek.
Got my first real football
Played it on a plastic pitch
Rubber pellets went everywhere
It was the cycle of forty-six
Oh when I look back now
Thought that it would last forever
Those were the football glory days

Tune: Summer of '69

HISTORY

Chromatika first entered the World Cup in Cycle 73, going a modest 3-2-7. They made the Cup of Harmony in Cycle 74, and qualified for the first time in Cycle 75, losing in the Round of Sixteen. Chromatika would have their most successful campaign in World Cup 76, making it to the 3rd place Playoff before finishing in fourth place, despite the domestic upheaval in the country. Their first Manager, Franscesca Larriet-Cortes, was martyred at the end of World Cup 75; the political stresses of the job made it so that Lisa Amos, the team's Manager after Franscesca, resigned after World Cup 76.

The team would enjoy continued success from World Cup 77 through World Cup 81, as Silian Parker helped the squad qualify for the World Cup every time, and the team even made it to the Round of Sixteen or beyond three of those times. Even when Chromatika didn't enter World Cup 82, their return to the World Cup in 83 was a success, though both World Cup 83 and 84 saw the Anomalies stymied at the Proper Group Stage - 84 being under new management in Nepharan Konrad Evans.

World Cup 85 was a disaster - the team didn't qualify and didn't even make a deep run in the Cup of Harmony, leading to the sacking of Evans and the appointment of Richard Valens of Krytenia and Tim Landers of Delaclava. The team would qualify in World Cup 86, and 87, host the World Cup in 88, and return to the Proper in 89. However, Chromatika was not making the deep runs that the nation wanted/needed, so they said goodbye to Valens and Landers and looked inward.

Sandra Sybill and Rachel Hellion, key figures during Chromatika's runs in the early days, stepped in. A loss to Nyowani Kitara meant that they were eliminated, but the team turned around and won the 82nd Cup of Harmony. The following cycle, they made it to the Playoffs, where a loss in penalties to Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom sealed the fate of Sybil and Hellion. Lisa Amos stepped in to lead the team to a respectable Quarterfinal finish in the resulting Cup of Harmony, and Chromatika was left wondering just how far they were away from the glory days.

Lev Repin came in, promising glory - and the Anomalies grabbed it off the cuff, winning their Group to qualify ahead of Ko-oren. Put into a group with Turori, Eura, and Cassadaigua, the Anomalies lost to Turori 3-0 before recovering to win narrowly over Eura and Cassadaigua. They'd fall 1-2 to perennial powerhouses Græntfjall, but they had finally broken back through.

Then, with the World Cup returning to Chromatika, the Anomalies went on the run of a lifetime, making their way to the World Cup Final, beating Zwangzug in the process. They eventually lost the final 3-4 to Banija, but had put themselves back as the #4 team in the world and capable of contending at the biggest stage.

World Cup 94 saw the Anomalies make the Round of Sixteen before losing to Banija once again; then, they cohosted World Cup 95 with Sylestone, only to go 0-2-1 in the Group Stage and not make the Round of Sixteen. World Cup 96 saw a dominant qualifying cycle - only losing once on the final matchday to Abanhfleft - culminate with another Group Stage exit at the hands of Juvencus.

Repin and the Chromatik Football Federation decided to part ways. They then brought in Alina Khabibullina to right the ship - and she led the team straight back to the World Cup Proper. Unfortunately, despite the field being expanded to forty-eight, the Chromatiks lost in the Group Stage once again.

Time is running out on this generation. Making it to the Round of Thirty-Two is a must. This will be a World Cup to decide a lot of things on the history of Chromatik football.

MANAGEMENT STAFF

MG ImageAlina KHABIBULLINA | Age: 51 | Debut Cycle: 97
The new Manager of Chromatika. A relatively new find, Khabibullina is a motivator and a technician who likes to try to get the most out of her charges. She took the team to the World Cup the last two cycles, but they couldn't make it past the Round of Thirty-Two. Will the third time be the charm?

PHY ImageZoe "Z" Benne | Age 51 | Debut Cycle: 80
Once a heartthrob, Zoe Benne is married to former Chromatik superstar Erika Morningstar. Zoe has been a constant for thirteen cycles now, and has had to treat everything from sprained ankles to serious injuries after the bus sabotage last cycle. She remains a great asset.

SMC ImageShelby Arling | Age: 36 | Debut Cycle: 87
The presence of Arling as the Social Media Coordinator has become as important as ever. She is the primary communications officer for all things regarding the Senior Squad, and one of the confidants of Repin. All questions go through her, and she takes away any and all distractions.

Depth Chart
Hailee SOURTOIS (28)
Jill SWANSON (29)
Jessika ANISTON (29)
Hera COURTOIS (23)

Hailee Sourtois finally takes over for Juxon Fillar. With tremendous aerial reach, command of area, and jumping reach, Sourtois is a master of the aerial game. Possessing strong metal faculties with communication and decision-making, the Goalkeeper also has decent work rate, vision, and teamwork, along with positioning. Not the most natural of athletes, her quickness, aggression, and bravery could use some work, but decent anticipation, agility, and balance, along with high stamina make her one of the best goalkeepers. It is now her era to shine.

Jill Swanson is a model of composure and a symbol of consistency; Jessika Aniston joins her, also from the Red League level - having control over the flow of play on the pitch and in stressful situations. This rivalry is a friendly, yet fierce, one - don't be surprised Aniston goes ahead of Swanson on the depth chart sometime.

Hera Courtois is the last one to join - a star from the collegiate ranks, she's good at everything that doesn't involve the ball at her feet. It's going to be fun to see how much she improves in the years to come, but with the three ahead of her being the same age range, the world is her oyster - for now.

Depth Chart
Ami COULIBALY - Eileen JACKSON-JONES - Cylie NODIS
Paisley PATERSON - Claudia LETHBRIDGE-ANTONIO - Uemura SABURO
Jaxon LEHMANN - Samantha Han CUNNINGHAM - Hélène ATACIARA

Khabibullina has decided to keep the system of three in the back. Ami Coulibaly has established herself as the starter at Right Centre, the Banijan/Chromatik dual-national cementing herself after the last few tournaments. Known for her friendship with the Tumbran Golden Duo of Trudy Harrison and Stephen Kerr at Chromatik, Coulibaly uses dogged determination and endless motor to frustrate her foes; she is also quite good on her feet and in passing the ball up the pitch. Eileen Jackson-Jones has earned the right to be the first-choice center back, an intense, put-together defender who can handle almost anyone that gets into her zone. She has stamina to go the whole game. Rounding out the starting trio is Cylie Nodis - the most offensive minded center back in Chromatik history - especially since her defensive game has improved with age. With a nose for the ball on every set piece, some deep crosses and the ability to thread the needle using either foot, it's been stated that she should change to a Defensive Midfielder at times. She's set in her ways, though, and insists she should play at fullback. (Un)fortunately, she's proficient enough that nobody can really force her to do anything otherwise, and she's improved enough to be the starter now. This starting three has aged, but remain together for at least this tournament.

Paisley Paterson continues at the second line. Born to a Chromatik mother and a Licentian father, Paterson grew up in Chromia, and only started football in her late teens. With size, pace, and most of all, a mentality of steel, Paterson has shown that she can be an enforcer on the pitch, not shying away from contact without drawing too many fouls. Her aerial game is still a cause for concern, but the dogged determination with which she pursues every play has made her an instant favorite no matter which coaching staff she works with. Claudia Lethbridge-Antonio brings her pedigree and physical nature, loving getting her hands dirty while not getting called for the foul - she is the perfect mixture of her two parents. Uemura Saburo, on the other hand, has solid fundamentals and the mental edge, with the rest of his game continuing to develop.

Jaxon Lehmann is lanky, tall, and physical. Has the physical stature to be in the way, the smarts to act on it, and an aggressive instinct to harass people. Samantha Han Cunningham may still be in the CCFA, but she has grit and a mean tackle. Also dangerous on set pieces due to her ability to position herself, she will be a part of the picture going forward. Hélène Ataciara provides versatility, being able to play with either foot - rounding out a capable reserve unit.

Depth Chart
Grayson FILLAR - Edith FILLAR
Jacoliene HAUPTMEIJER - Nemes MÁTYÁS
Kandice ORIOL - Róza PANAŚ
Willemieke JANISEN OP COLMANS

Chromatika continues to use spectacular wingbacks - pinning their ears back and defend, or sometimes running up the field and add to the attack. Some of them are better at some aspect of that than others. Grayson Fillar is a bullheaded, stubborn, physical right back will will outright impose his will on his opponents. Overshadowed by his younger sister, the electric Baillaire, Grayson was the one who actually chose to finish high school in Chromatika before making the move to 1830 Cathair. Though he says that he's proud of his sister (and he probably is), there is a deeply competitive streak in him that demands that he also make a name for himself atop Chromatika's slew of Fillars. On the pitch, he knows how to use his size to its utmost advantage, almost appearing larger than he is at times. He also understands the importance of momentum and tone, leading to his not being shy to commit a foul if one is needed. He has presence, physicality, and endurance, and has added an offensive edge to his game by providing some pace and some through-balls to the front. His last stop on a storied career is Oriannor Mountaineers FC. Alongside him is Edith Fillar, the next coming of Megan Kelly, or the Chromatik winger who's short but can run circles around would-be defenders and take over the game due to where she is on the pitch. She may not be the quickest off the ball, but she has the relentlessness that has been present on many great Chromatik wingers. With the mindset of a drill sergeant who is definitely the strictest on herself, she has over a hundred caps already. She's added playing man-to-man defense to her arsenal of formidable skills, as well as the ability to contribute long-range assists with deadly, precise crosses.

For the players behind these two, any of them can be used at any time - what they provide are all distinct and unique enough to be sought after. Jacoliene Hauptmeijer enters the national team picture, with a sublime first touch and great skills as long as she isn't getting obstructed - she's working on that. Nemes Mátyás is a sniper through and through who can score at any range - and as his play improves, he'll become even more dangerous. Kandice Oriol is tireless tactician who isn't the best with her feet, but is lethal with her head due to tremendous jumping reach, while Róża Panaś is neither the fastest nor the most creative, but is a good defensive option. Willemieke Janissen op Colmans is an unconventional winger who is more of a support character than a scorer. He's very good at setting up that goal, though.

Depth Chart
Alija MESIC-MIZAYAKI
Jayla LETHBRIDGE-ANTONIO
Cassandra VAN DER BORGHT
Eden GUNDSDORF
Erica HOLGERSSON

Any formation needs at least one Defensive Midfielder, and Chromatika has the pick of the lot at the position, even after the retirement of Enigma Armageddon, Leysa Burns, Mare Si, Kateryna Zuniga, and Kaia Larriet-Cortes from the National Team. Alija Mesic-Mizayaki, is very good at defending, but continues to learn how this position can also contribute to the attack, while perfecting her already formidable arsenal in regards to marking, tackling, and defensive positioning. It is finally her era to be the starting central midfielder, and she's ready for the challenge.

Jayla Lethbridge-Antonio with her size and creativity, is the future - and her physicality is an added plus. A better-than-average defensive midfielder with solid positioning and physicality to boot, Cassandra Van Der Borght is very good at decking key players of the opposition to the pitch - cleanly, of course. Eden Gundsdorf is the best defensive midfielder prospect from the CCFA level in a while - her fundamentals are something else altogether, and she's ended up at Myana of all places. She'll have competition in the years to come with Jayla, but that will be fun to watch.

Rounding out the rotation is Erica Holgersson, who's taken being drafted by Omnio to be a sign that she needs to work harder. An enforcer through and through who'll do whatever it takes to get the job done, even if it means getting a card. Such determination can be useful when used correctly, but a detriment otherwise - but she has time to work that out.

This remains a lynchpin position for Chromatika.

Depth Chart
Baillaire FILLAR - Evin FRANÇINE-MIKLAVIVEC
Maddie PRENN
ÞYRILL Bjarnhéðinsson - LEE Hyun-Seol

Depending on the formation, these roles can be taken by two other Midfielders that contribute to the attack, or a Central Midfielder and an Attacking Midfielder to differentiate the roles. Baillaire Fillar is the flashiest of the Fillars, subscribing to the Hermaeus Mora/Haley Hauser school of Attacking Midfielders, marrying both styles by shooting first and asking questions later while making deep runs into opposing territory. With a creative and dramatic flair that doesn't really exist in other Chromatiks from the past, Baillaire is a playmaker through and through. Having crested a hundred caps in the last World Cup, she's continued to mature in her game, and shows no signs of slowing down in her growth, having led Sivolvia Capitalizt to their first tile in the SRS.

With Haley Hauser, Alissar Pheon, and Vasiliy Marten Kuznetsov both having retired, Evin Françine-Miklavivec is next - and she has now moved from 1923 Esca to Kirkenes FC in Kelssek. She can hang with most but not all attacking players while also getting by most but not all defenders; she's quick but not lightning-fast, strong but not like a bulldozer, and creative but not brilliant. Maddie Prenn has impressed with how much she's progressed as an on-field player as of late. No longer is she just a sniper who fires from wherever she wants to; she's now someone who knows how to read the flow of the game, make runs, and make the key passes that are either assists or the pass that leads to that assist. Þyrill Bjarnhéðinsson steps in as a creative outlet that has pace, vision, and deadly shooting skill - while Lee Hyun-Seol, who is more of an attacking midfielder who can contribute to the attack, rounds out the roster.

Depth Chart
Lavrentiy XUEN-ZHUKOV - Elaine HOWARD-DAWES
Kaytlyn JEAN-BAPTISTE - Harriet BAÏE-VERTE
Adélaïde BITTENCOURT - Jack HEIMDELL

Lavrentiy Xuen-Zhukov continues to write his own legend, averaging more than a goal per match and becoming a crowd favorite for Chromatika. Xuen-Zhukov is a Complete Forward that uses a combination of pace, stamina, and acceleration to fly past the opposition and score. He was the fastest ever to reach more than twenty goals - he will likely be the highest scoring Chromatik ever by the time his career is over. Having earned the right to be the second striker is Elaine Howard-Dawes, the shooter who's lethal from close to midrange. She can contribute as long as she doesn't need to get past someone to achieve that shot - she's working on that. Xuen-Zhukov takes all the attention, and Howard-Dawes capitalizes.

Kaytlyn Jean-Baptiste and Harriet Baïe-Verte have taken over as second string. Jean-Baptiste has an endless motor, gets better the longer the game goes, and knows when to step up in big situations; Baïe-Verte is a more well-rounded player who will do almost anything to reach her goals. At RGS Athletic, she's developed into more of a consistent scoring threat

Adélaïde Bittencourt is a true striker who's earned the right to be on the roster as a solid backup option, while Jack Heimdell is a beanpole with tremendous heading skills who's best used in set pieces.

Lavrentiy is the pure scorer on the team, while Howard-Dawes is the other starting striker.

TACTICAL INFORMATION
(Many thanks to Mytanija for the blueprint.)

Chromatika's 3-4-1-2 is based off of Mytanija's formation.

3-4-1-2 – IN POSSESSION: Chromatika's base formation for World Cup 97 qualification is a 3-4-1-2. This means there will be 3 central defenders, a wing-back on either side, 2 central midfielders, an attacking midfielder and 2 strikers on the pitch at any one time. This does not mean that the team will play in these positions for the whole game, as Chromatiks have adopted the Mytanar philosophy of flexibility in and out of possession, utilizing the fact that until very recently, they ran a 4-3-2-1/4-4-1-1. When Chromatika has the ball the 3-4-1-2 will change into more of a 3-2-5 shape, this is designed to try to create overloads in attacking areas so that the Chromatiks can create two versus one situations where the opposition have to make decisions on who they will engage with.

This 3-2-5 will be achieved firstly by one of the wing-backs (from the starting line-up, this would be right-sided wing-back Grayson Fillar) moving into a central midfield position to play alongside the deeper-lying of the two central midfielders (Alija Mesic-Mizayaki, if among the Starting XI). This creates a pairing in central midfield which will be used to help the team build-up, providing passing options both in front of the central defensive three and the 5 players which end-up ahead of them.

That 5 is made-up of the opposite-sided wing-back (in this example it would be left wing-back Edith Fillar), the more advanced central midfielder (Baillaire Fillar), the attacking midfielder (Evin Françine-Miklavivec); and the strikers (usually Xuen-Zhukov and Howard-Dawes). The wing-back has to push on to achieve the 3-2-5 shape, getting into the final third and maintaining the width on their side of the pitch. They will be given some license to get into the penalty area if the ball is on the other side, giving another option for their teammates. The more advanced central midfielder will be tasked with playing inside of the wing-back, in the so-called ‘half-space’, they will look to work with the wing-back to create an overload on their side of the pitch.

The attacking midfielder and the two strikers will interchange fairly freely, though one will always be tasked with pulling wide to ensure that width is maintained on both sides of the attacking ‘5’ with the aim of stretching the opposition’s defense across the width of the pitch. One striker (usually Howard-Dawes in the Starting XI) will drop deep to create space for rotations with the attacking midfielder and the other striker, those two looking to run into and exploit the space vacated by the other striker. These rotations are aimed to shift the opposition defenders around the pitch and create a bit of confusion.

In terms of progressing the play the team will look to move the ball with controlled pace. The team will aim to do this with utmost precision, as is the Chromatik way.

3-4-1-2 – OUT OF POSSESSION: Chromatika's reaction to losing the ball depends on where they actually lose possession on the pitch. Should they lose the ball high-up the pitch, in the opposition’s half, then there will be an instantaneous reaction to press the opponent with the ball to try to win it back quickly high-up the pitch. This is hoped to create chances nearer to the opposition’s goal, effectively using the press as a playmaker. If the opponent breaks through the initial press then Chromatika will look to recover into a 5-3-2 shape as below. Should Chromatika lose the ball nearer to their own goal then they will instantly look to recover into defensive positions to try to make themselves difficult to break down. This shape will be closer to a 5-3-2 than the 3-4-1-2 starting formation.

Both wing-backs will drop deeper, alongside the three central defenders to form the 5. The two central midfielders (Mesic-Mizayaki and Baillaire Fillar), will drop deep in front of the three central defenders to shield them a little and the attacking midfielder (Evin Françine-Miklavivec), will drop to play in front of them, operating as a bit of a guard dog – either sitting on an opposition deep-lying playmaker to try to stop the ball into them, or by leading a half-pitch press. The two strikers will look to stop the ball going back to the opposition’s central defenders and press them when they are in possession.

Chromatika will also play a variety of other formations should they want to play a little differently, the most likely ones they would change to from the 3-4-1-2 are a 3-5-2 (taking out the attacking midfielder and using three central midfielders); a 4-3-1-2 (pushing the wing-backs back to play as full-backs, removing a central defender and replacing them with a defensive or central midfielder); a 4-2-3-1 (pushing the wing-backs back to play as full-backs, removing a central defender and a striker and then playing a winger on either side); or a narrow 4-4-2 diamond (pushing the wing-backs back to play as full-backs, removing a central defender to play either as a defensive or central midfielder). Chromatika is very versed in the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-4-2, as they've played those before under previous management.

STRATEGY SUMMARY: Khabibullina is a motivator through and through who tries to get the most out of her players; the thought is that the strategy is not bad - they just weren't applying themselves fully, or were going through some things. Hopefully, that'll be enough.

THE UNITED REPUBLICS OF YUEZHOU
WORLD CUP 99 ROSTER

月州联合共和国 - 国际足球队

It's a new era for the Dragons, as Elaine Ashdown leaves after nine years in charge of the national team. While Ashdown brought the Dragons to unprecedented heights, achieving third place in the Copa Rushmori and Yuezhou's first-ever quarterfinals berth in the World Cup, the YFA felt Yuezhou were stagnating under her watch and opted to move on. Up next is legendary Mytanar manager Lev Repin, last seen bringing Chromatika within ninety minutes of the World Cup. The first cycle was supposed to be a transitional phase, so a fifth straight WC knockouts appearance (at home, no less) and a semifinal finish in the Copa Rushmori are enough to keep the FA happy. But it could've been so much more - half-Lit™ Jia Luka Siski winning, then stealing, then missing a penalty against Farfadillis that would've completed a historic Octofinal comeback raised so much uproar that the young striker has been dropped entirely.

3-4-1-2 – IN POSSESSION
In possession the 3-5-2 becomes almost a 3-2-5 with the wing-backs pushing high up the pitch to operate in what would almost be traditional winger positions. They are tasked with staying wide to provide the midfielders with options out on the flank, this should also keep the opposition players stretched across the pitch in their defensive shape which would open up spaces in more central areas. The two strikers will rotate in dropping in between the opposition defence and midfield whilst the left-sided central midfielder will look to push into spaces that are vacated by opposition defenders. This is done in this way because the striker who drops deep may drag an opposition defender into a midfield area and leave space for the left-sided central midfielder to run into. The central midfielders will be tasked with recycling possession and trying to pick passes from the middle of the pitch, they will also make late runs into the penalty area to try and pick up any loose balls around the edge of the box. The three central defenders will push high up to the halfway line to squeeze the pitch and keep opposition forwards far away from the goal in case of a loss of possession. Defenders that are comfortable in possession will be allowed freedom to dribble forward if the opposition stand-off them as this could make it easier to progress the ball and could commit opposition defenders which would create space for other players.

3-5-2 – OUT OF POSSESSION
If the ball is lost, both wing-backs will work hard to immediately get back into defensive positions, almost forming a back five with the three central defenders. Both strikers will work hard to press opposition players, willing to give away fouls to prevent the opposition from counter-attacking at speed. Whoever plays as the left-sided central midfielder midfielder may join in with this pressing but against strong opposition they may also drop deep to form a midfield three with the other pair of central midfielders to try and stiffen up the centre of the pitch. Towards the halfway line both the central midfielders will press and try to push the opponent into wider areas with the aim being to either trap them on the sideline or to encourage an aimless pass from the wide position into the middle of the pitch where there are more players. If the opposition manage to counter quickly then the wide central defenders will look to engage any players breaking down the sides of the pitch whilst the man in the middle of the three will shift across to cover them. The central midfielders will also tend to drop very quickly leaving only the attacking midfielder and strikers higher up the pitch.

COACHING STAFF

Manager: Lev REPIN, 70 (MYT)
The YFA moves from one legend of the game to another: Repin, after 177 caps with Mytanija as a fullback during his playing career, has become one of the multiverse's best-known managers. After returning his home country to the World Cup, he then moved to Chromatika, where he took the Anomalies to the World Cup Final. Both incredibly passionate and tactically innovative, Repin will hope to bring a third national team to success as he takes over the Dragons on a two-cycle contract.

Assistant Manager: CHEN Haixuan, 55
The up-and-coming Chen Haixuan earned the job after managing Beian Rovers from lower midtable to the heady heights of...also lower midtable. He's at least a likeable guy who should help communicate Repin's vision and keep things friendly in the dressing room, and will serve as a valuable bridge between the Ashdown and Repin administrations.

Assistant Manager: YUAN Mingrong, 41
A legendary center-back for Ararat and the Yue national team, Yuan now makes his coaching debut with the national team he captained for several cycles. He'll be expected to focus on the defense and the locker-room, although unnamed sources have suggested he's also being groomed to be the next Dragons manager.

Goalkeeping Coach: Ursula GAVARIS, 48 (NPH)
Yue National Team Goalkeeping Coaches have been very in-demand lately, with Lu Qiang headed to the Red League and Ming Xilang off to Quebec. The Dragons will hope that the Zenith veteran who last kept goal for Alliance Barossia won't follow in their footsteps too quickly.

GOALKEEPERS

#01 - GK - ZHAO Deliang (赵德亮) - 36 - Atletik Thessia (MYT)
A former goalkeeping phenom who won a historic Golden Ball (both in terms of position and age) en route to Jiangdong's first league title in years before becoming even more successful abroad. A cool, confident, and physically imposing general on the pitch, albeit a bit traditionalist in playstyle.

substitutes are listed in descending order of likelihood of starting.
#12 - GK - Elaine XU (f) - 31 - Newark Argyle (TMB)
Known for her distribution as well as her heroics outside of the penalty box, Xu's family escaped to Tumbra at the outbreak of the Yue Civil War, but the young, flashy goalkeeper is now back. She was expected to present a long-term challenge to Zhao Deliang's starting spot, but Zhao's ascension into a higher level, combined with the emergence of a number of other young goalkeepers, threw her future with the national team into question despite steady success at the club level. Continued strong play in Tumbra has, for now, kept her as the steady #2 to Zhao.

#79 - GK - Timofei TRISCHUK-HUANG - 28 - Z'ai'ai (CMT)
The son of former South Newlandian NT captain Mikhail Trischuk, Trischuk-Huang is a lanky, athletic shot-stopper with flashes of passing talent. Calling him up early ensured the Newlandians wouldn't get him for the Campionato, but he's now a solid starter abroad and a genuine threat to take one of the spots on the World Cup Proper roster.

CENTER-BACKS

#05 - CB - Esekíel Zeminsson YAO (姚真君) - 29 - Ararat Severyan (MYT)
While he's not quite a BFG, Esekíel Yao is still quite physically imposing, and compensates for average speed with strong defensive instincts, good short-range passing, and the ability to perform under pressure. Does have a prospenity to foul in dangerous areas and overrate his own passing instincts, but one can hope that'll go away in time. Idolized Yuan Mingrong growing up, and was given Yuan's #5 after playing by his side for two seasons at Ararat.

#36 - CB - ZHAO Fan (f) (赵範) - 29 - Mazinaw Vanorian (KSK)
Excellent on-ball skills for a defender, with her passing especially solid, but can be overly rash to tackle. Still, despite her aggression, she's rapidly grown into a key piece for the surprise Tumbran champions, and she's quickly grown into an integral part of the Yue defense.

#27 - CB - JI Wenwei (纪文薇) - 27 - Myana (CMT)
A young but surprisingly polished center-back who anchored Royals' title-winning defense before heading abroad, Ji has well-honed defensive instincts and positioning. There are concerns that he's a high-floor, low-ceiling prospect who lacks the athleticism needed to become a world-class defender, but he's managed to overcome his relative slow-footedness with smart tackling and elite situational awareness.

substitutes are listed in descending order of likelihood of starting.
#44 - RCB/RB - Jason Yuanjunsson REN - 27 - CF Outineau (KSK)
A sturdy, hard-working right-back known for his tactical fouls. Theoretically has the ball skills and tools to be useful on the attack, but hasn't quite put them together. Has taken the number 44, the first Yueren to ever do so on the national team, after his initial request to take #4 was flatly denied by the YFA.

#30 - CB - Paris HUANG (f) - 25 - Century Mertagne (MRT)
A smooth operator across any defensive position, the Mertagnian dual-national finally makes her Dragons debut after an extended pressure campaign from the YFA. Huang's greatest asset is her versatility, both in position and in playstyle, making her the ideal defensive super-sub.

#26 - CB - Aldar Yuansson GUO - 26 - Bay City United (KYP)
Half-Yue but still quite the BFG, with a strong intuitive ability to get in the right place at the right time. Leveraged a strong season with Korsbach to join half-countryman Chen Huikang in the Peninsulae.

FULLBACKS

#02 - LB - Gía Ansdottír LIN (f) (林积仁) - 27 - Tekstil (MYT)
A very athletic, talented young fullback, but one with much stronger defensive than attacking instincts. Her leadership and sense of positioning could make her future club captain material, but she'll need to cut down on fouls and develop a crossing game to reach her full potential. Has been through a lot in her young career, from double-relegation as a teenager in Ko-oren to blatant sexism in the Kytler Peninsulae, but enjoyed a breakout campaign in Mytanija.

#13 - RB/RWB - Songwei MILOSEVIC (米松伟) - 28 - Felsenkirchen 1879 (STL)
Born to Mytanar steelworker parents in Beian, Milosevic is industrious off the field but made waves with a high-flying, attack-minded take on the rightback position. While still raw, his incredible endurance and strong ball skills could make him a great modern fullback. Since taking over from the retiring Dong Xiaowang, he's entrenched himself as a premier starting right-back who - despite Kara Mingsdottír Zhang's plaudits - might quietly be the team's best player.

substitutes are listed in descending order of likelihood of starting.
#14 - LB/LWB - HUANG Han - 33 - Istria City FC (BNJ)
An energetic, pacy wingback who thrived as a crosser in Olympic Nangang's three-at-the-back system, before excelling both as a winger and as a fullback in the proving grounds of Kelssek, where he earned consideration for Young Player of the Year with Torbay Thunder. Now in the S-FPL, the only remaining questions around his game are how well it will age.

#38 - RB/RW - LI Xiangyu - 31 - Nangang Royals
A pacy fullback whose penchant for pushing forwards with the ball helped add a new dimension to Royals' title-winning attack. Somewhat weaker defensively, but will present a nice change of pace from the more methodical Yuanjunsson Ren.

#19 - CAM/CM/RB - Maximillian WEN - 27 - Miruan City FC (TKT)
A swiss-army-knife of a player that has quickly endeared himself to his team's fans and Elaine Ashdown alike. Wen's biggest strengths are his versatility and tenacity. But he's far from a high-motor, low-skill player, having shown advanced playmaking talent in Tikariot.

HOLDING MIDFIELDERS

#29 - CDM/CM - ZHAXI Jianzan (f) (扎喜坚赞) - 32 - Serrapince (TMB)
A hard-nosed defensive midfielder who will do anything on the field to win - and who has the athletic ability and field vision, if not a full suite of on-ball tools, to make it happen. Not related to Zhaxi Nanlei.

#17 - CM - DONG Yichun (f) (董依纯) - 27 - Kirkenes (KSK)
A metronomic presence in midfield from a young age, with some flashes of creativity. Has quietly become one of the best Yue midfielders in the world after a surprisingly good season with Kirkenes, with an inability to be pressed that the Dragons sorely need from their midfield options. Made her breakthrough to the starting lineup under Repin in his first cycle.

substitutes are listed in descending order of likelihood of starting.
#28 - CM - GUAN Teying - 28 - Millsburgh Revolutionaries (TMB)
A smooth, metronomic presence in the center of the pitch, Guan's next developmental step will be to hone his defensive instincts - something he's already made great strides at in Nephara before heading to Millsburgh.

#80 - CM - Brynjólfur Zhenyasson ZHANG - 29 - Crossroads (CMT)
Born and raised in Græntfjall, but the son of Yuezhou NT midfielder Zhang Zhenya, it was anyone's guess who Zhang was going to declare for. Just like Kara Mingsdottír Zhang (no relation), though, he opted for the side with a paucity of talented young midfielders. After returning to Yuezhou at his father's urging and surprising everyone by becoming the linchpin of Royals' attack at a young age, he headed to Chromatika to further prove himself. A dynamic 8/10 hybrid who moves quickly with and without the ball, and who offers relentless energy on the defensive end. Dropped out of the NT midway through World Cup 96 due to the stress of the situation in Græntfjall, but seems to be back to full strength - and now has a Red League title under his wing as well.

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS

#08 - CM/CAM - Kara Mingsdottír ZHANG (f) (张白兰) - 32 - Liria Prizren (MYT)
The YFA spent a lot of time and effort convincing Karolíná Mingsdottír to declare for Yuezhou's national team instead of Græntfjall's, but it's become apparent that the young midfielder was worth the trouble. A well-rounded midfield prospect whose speed and technique makes her devastating on the counterattack, and who has a propensity for scoring wondergoals. At Liria, she became one of the world's premier midfielders - but her progression as a player has stalled somewhat in recent years, and she'll be looking for a legacy-defining cycle.

substitutes are listed in descending order of likelihood of starting.
#10 - CAM/SS - YAO Liwei - 27 - TK Korp Mynda (BNJ)
An excellent runner on counterattacks and a dynamic and willing passer, somewhat in the Tao Beiliang mold. Similarly to Tao, doesn't do much on defense, and was moved progressively upfield by his coaches after starting his career as a #8.

STRIKERS

#09 - SS/LW - ZHU Tianming (朱天明) - 32 - Beian Bats
A versatile attacker most at home in a false-nine role, Zhu's physicality lets him hold up the ball before using his surprisingly good passing chops to distribute to teammates. He's not blazing fast, but he's quick and shifty enough to also play an inside-forward role on the wings, popping up when you least expect it to latch onto a cross or head home from close range.

#21 - ST - Leona TSANG (f) (曾巧珠) - 27 - Myana (CMT)
GS+'s best young player in the world is now a Dragon, accepting Elaine Ashdown's callup in controversial fashion two caps short of being tied to the Cormorants. Her speed, dynamic off-ball runs, and ability to score from anywhere make her difficult to pin down, especially with Kara Mingsdottír Zhang feeding her a steady diet of through-balls for the foreseeable future - as long as she can stay on the field, having already dealt with a succession of ankle injuries during her national team tenure.

substitutes are listed in descending order of likelihood of starting.
#11 - ST/RW - ZHENG Hong (f) - 32 - Jinja City FC (BNJ)
A hardworking and athletic attacker, Zheng still lacks a bit of finesse and can look quite awkward at times. Still, she always seems to get the ball where she wants it to be, and she's actually quite the composed finisher if you look at the xG.

#31 - RW/CAM - Liljan Álfarsdottír ZHOU (f) - 27 - Kirkenes (KSK)
Not especially fast, but agile and skilled: Zhou can be a bit predictable at times, loving to cut inside, but has all the ability you'd want in a modern winger. Her surprisingly good playmaking has earned her a second look as a rotational #10 in Repin's system, in addition to a potential starter if the Mytanar opts to change formation.

#33 - ST - Sienna LI (f) - 29 - Rolalas FC (VAL)
A Nepharan dual national, Li grew up idolizing Liu Huiying and definitely adopted some of the ex-Corvistone star's game to her own. Stronger, less agile, and more of a traditional nine than Liu, but still likes to drop deep and distribute when the opportunity presents itself.

The Osnari Federation National Football Team
The Eagle
Baptism of Fire 86 Champions | All-Time Record [W-D-L]: 5-4-1

Here from Anaia for their first World Cup Qualifying cycle are the Eagles of the Osnari Federation. Managed by former Grunenwald FC gaffer Nathan Held, this is a group that may be new to international football, but certainly is not new to the game. Drawn from the best players on the best teams across the Federation, the Eagles proved their mettle with a gold medal at the Baptism of Fire and are riding high on their success into World Cup Qualifying.

This is a team that plays aggressively. With most of the skill concentrated on the front end with the Osnari Eliteliga’s two best players in Jost Blum and Gido Mullis, this is a squad you should expect a lot of goals from. The midfield and defense are not particularly bad, it’s just the attackers where this team excels. The team plays in a 3-4-3 with one midfielder back as a catch-all for anything that gets through. Most often this will be Raik Nagel, and the kid has a lot of ground to cover, but he performed the job admirably in two shutouts in the Baptism of Fire semifinals and final.

The fans have raised their expectations for the Eagles after a Baptism of Fire title run that has energized the fanbase and piqued the national interest in football more than ever before. Beating the 7th seed the Eagles have been given for WCQs is an often-cited goal, and placing 4th or 5th would be extremely exciting. Qualification is expected to be out of reach, of course, but the fans can still have some hope. After all, a Baptism of Fire title was once considered too high an expectation, too.

The Eliteliga as referenced is the Osnari Federation’s domestic league, which recently played its 76th season (and its first with IFCF qualification) here.

Formation: 3-4-3
Manager: Nathan Held
Style Modifier: +4

Forwards
Expected Starters: LW Still / ST Blum / RW Mullis

Jost Blum / Old Bremningen / 28
10 Caps / 8 Goals / 1 Assist
A tall, imposing pure goalscorer, Blum thrives on outfighting the opposition’s back line with his size, strength, and incredible ability to find the net. He received the Eliteliga’s Silver Ball and Silver Boot awards - behind only Gido Mullis - and his goalscoring was the difference on several occasions in the Eagle’s golden BoF campaign.

Gido Mullis / Kinzacher Ellmann / 25 / Captain
10 Caps / 5 Goals / 3 Assists
Widely considered the best Osnari football player, Gido Mullis is elite on the wing. Though small in stature, he makes up for it with explosiveness in all facets of his game. His speed, his shot, his first step are all elite. Add very good ball skills and great football IQ into the fold, and you have a very dangerous, threatening winger in his own right, who can create goals as soon as score them himself. These abilities gained him a Golden Ball and Boot in the last Eliteliga season. As the primary choice for captain, he;s shown an unexpected maturity beyond his age and is developing into a great leader.

Conz Still / Old Bremningen / 30
10 Caps / 3 Goals / 2 Assists
Still is a pure playmaker, a selfless player who promotes all those around him. He contributed in no small part to Blum’s success this past Eliteliga season. He’s not to be ignored, though - he can still score a fair few goals given too much space. His selflessness, experience, and willingness to sacrifice for the team’s benefit have earned him a spot as captain of this squad.

Gioele Schmid / Kinzacher Ellmann / 25
0 Caps / 0 Goals
Schmid is an important playmaker for Eliteliga champions Ellmann and should slot in nicely behind Still. He still has some development to make before he starts, but look for the name Gioele Schmid in future Osnari rosters.

Wenert Bitzius / AC Rohl / 22
0 Caps / 0 Goals
Wenert Bitzius, winner of the Bronze Boot this last Eliteliga season. He’s already one of the best forwards in the country, but the depth chart at left wing, his preferred position, is pretty full. He may find a niche in late, critical-situation substitutions looking for a goal as a fourth forward, and he was one of the key players in AC Rohl’s surprising Eliteliga season. Bitzius most often fills the role of goalscorer with an impressive shot, but his distribution skills are quite good as well; he may be an elite AM later in his career.

Lukas Klein / Kinzacher Ellmann / 32
0 Caps / 0 Goals
The Ellmann striker is a perennially solid goalscorer for what is far and away the Eliteliga’s best offense. Offers a good bit of experience to this lineup.

Levin Allemann / Old Bremningen / 27
0 Caps / 0 Goals
One of the last additions to the roster, Allemann is a really solid winger for Bremningen. He likely won’t see too much of the field, but expect to see flashes of impressive talent as a distributor when he does.

Midfielders
Expected Starters: LM Kobel / CM Homberger / RM Werren | DM Nagel

Werner Werren / Lowenherz FC / 29
10 Caps / 4 Goals / 1 Assist
Werren started all seven matches of the Baptism of Fire, and played quite well. Moving to right midfield midway through the tournament, he was another important piece to the victory. He’s in the process of leaving his old club, Lowenherz FC, though where he’ll end up is anyone’s guess.

Jules Kobel / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 27
10 Caps / 1 Goal / 4 Assists
The elite left midfielder for Lockeweiler won himself a Bronze Ball and a Golden Arrow as the Eliteliga’s best midfielder. He’s aggressive and pacy, good with the ball and a reliable distributor as well. Perhaps his most marketable skill is his intelligence; Kobel has a very high football IQ, and his impressive assists total shows it.

Fabio Koch / Kinzacher Ellmann / 30
5 Caps / 0 Goals / 1 Assist
A good part of Ellmann’s continuous success is their strong midfield, of which Koch is likely the strongest part. Koch prefers to play back and advance the play, though, and may have a hard job covering the back with two aggressive midfielders to his left. He hasn’t started since a red card against Thaeloria on matchday two of the Baptism of Fire, as the team has pivoted to a different outlook in midfield.

Till Betschen / Kinzacher Ellmann / 32
3 Caps / 1 Goal / 1 Assist
A solid, experienced midfielder for Ellmann, and a great distributor; a perfect exemplar of the DM mold for the Dragons. He’s got a lot of experience, a lot of titles, and may make some appearances as a result. He took Koch’s place in the starting lineup until a tactical shift in the quarterfinals that is expected to continue here.

Liam Homberger / AC Rohl / 20
2 Caps / 2 Assists
Winner of the Silver Arrow and the Silver Cap and widely considered the best youth talent on the Osnari squad, Homberger leads a very strong group of young midfielders. He started the last few matches of the Baptism of Fire and played admirably, putting together a very strong showing and boosting the Osnari offense to victory.

Rafael von Tobel / Kinzacher Ellmann / 20
0 Caps / 0 Goals
The backbone of Ellmann’s offense is an inexperienced 20-year-old, but Rafael von Tobel already has an Eliteliga title under his belt. Von Tobel is a pure distributor, and will be right at home distributing to an elite offense, just like back in Kinzach.

Raik Nagel / Old Bremningen / 20
2 Caps / 0 Goals / 2 Assists
An important piece for Bremningen’s midfield, Nagel is a physical, imposing player who focuses on destroying opposing attacks and keeping possession. Starting the last two matches of the Baptism of Fire at DM, he played a huge role in the resurgence of the Osnari defense and is expected to continue starting in the Qualifiers.

Defenders
Expected Starters: LB Abegg / CB Osterwalder / CB Lau / RB Hugentobler

Joder Hugentobler / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 26
10 Caps / 0 Goals
Hugentobler is a rock-solid right back with a lot of pace and agility and a tendency to press up and support. He’s pretty smart about it, but his teammates will have to cover that move well lest it lead to a break.

Raphael Osterwalder / Kinzacher Ellmann / 21
4 Caps / 0 Goals
Osterwalder is an Eliteliga titlewinner for an Ellmann defense that is nearly always under fire. As a result, he’s gone through a trial by fire and come out the other end as one of the more respected youngsters in the Federation. Osterwalder is a big, athletic, physical center back who’s not afraid to get a bit frisky. He was pulled out of the Baptism of Fire early after several mistakes against Zirahuen on MD1 - it will take a long time for him to regain the trust of Nathan Held.

Atreju Lau / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 31
10 Caps / 0 Goals
Lau is another imposing Osnari center back for one of the Eliteliga’s best defenses. Again; tall, physical, and just a little bit dangerous. He talks a good game, too.

Jvars Abegg / Old Bremningen / 26
10 Caps / 0 Goals
Abegg is a more defensive left back for Bremningen who treats his area like his domain; enter at your own risk. Aggressive and hard-tackling like the rest of this back line; received a Silver Wall as the Eliteliga’s second-best defender.

Jost Irmiger / Tollerberg FC / 20
0 Caps / 0 Goals
Receiver of the Bronze Wall and Bronze Cap as the Eliteliga’s third-best U21 player. Irmiger trained alongside the league’s best defender in Finn Hess, now retired, and for Tollerberg FC, a club whose legacy of elite defense is legendary. Irmiger will look to defend that legacy over his career as a strong, defensive-minded left back.

Endo Fey / Kinzacher Ellmann / 33
0 Caps / 0 Goals
A key piece of Ellmann’s defense, Fey is a marauding, aggressive left back who enjoys pushing up and creating chances whenever possible, but is also hard-tackling and aggressive without the ball.

Florus Biefer / Old Bremningen / 33
5 Caps / 0 Goals
Yet another experienced back, Biefer is the backbone of Bremningen’s defense. He’s got quite a powerful leg on him, and is maybe a bit short for a center back, but he makes up for it with his physicality and a little bit of dark arts activity when the refs can’t see. He subbed in for Osterwalder when experience was called for in the Baptism of Fire, and played quite solid before Held shifted the tactics around and Biefer returned to the bench for the quarterfinals.

Babacar Spahn / Old Bremningen / 31
0 Caps / 0 Goals
BABACARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
WE LOVE BABACAR

Keepers
Expected Starter: GK Rosli

Hias Schefer / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 21
8 Caps / 0 Clean Sheets
Boy oh boy, where do I start. Hias Schefer was clearly the league’s best keeper at only 21, winner of the Golden Glove and the Golden Cap. He’ll likely start all the way through the tournament. The crazy thing is, this kid has places to improve, and looks to become a real star for the national team for the next decade. With two other great keepers to learn from on the squad, Schefer has one hell of a high ceiling. The problem? For whatever reason, things didn’t click for the younger at the Baptism of Fire, and Loris Rosli became the replacement, instantly having impressive performances. Schefer will have to fight to regain his spot.

Walo Schiegg / Wolfsberg FC / 32
1 Cap / 0 Clean Sheets
Walo Schiegg, winner of the Bronze Glove and one of the best keepers in the league. A pretty classic, athletic keeper who tends to stay on his line.

Loris Rosli / AC Rohl / 30
2 Caps / 2 Clean Sheets
Rosli is a more aggressive type who likes playing the ball and playing up when possible. It leaves him open to mistakes but also shuts down some surprising plays; it obviously works, as he received a Silver Glove last season. In two caps for the Eagles, Rosli has allowed exactly zero goals and is expected to continue as the starter off the strength of his performance in the Baptism of Fire semifinals and final, which were both intense, low-scoring affairs where Rosli performed very well.

Home Stadium: The Osnarstadion
The Osnarstadion is the biggest and most prestigious stadium in the Osnari Federation, home to Old Bremningen. With tall walls of old stone in the center of Suris, the Osnarstadion looks almost like a Colosseum of sorts. Ideas have been floated around about potentially building a new national stadium to replace the Osnarstadion, giving a brand-new, neutral environment for domestic finals and national team matches. But for now, the Osnarstadion will do with renovations and history.

Suris is the capital city of the Osnari Federation. An eclectic mix of incredibly historic buildings and modern architecture where historic buildings used to be, the city is quite the hotspot for tourists and those curious about the Federation’s history. Subject to somewhat haphazard planning, traffic can be a drag and public transportation is not the greatest; any visitors should budget plenty of margin for error in their travels.
