The Tundra, often snow covered, in Cold Hill was constructed in 1999, and can hold up to 71,000 people.

Team Philosophy:

At its core, the team's game plan is to rack up points and then make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable when they try to catch up.

Offensive Style: Cold Hill is a pass-first, air raid, quarterback centric team offensively. Generally run the offense out of the shotgun in 10 or 11 personnel. (1 running back, no tight ends, or 1 running back, 1 tight end). As long as it's working, they see no reason to slow down scoring and give other teams a chance to get back into the game. Inside zone is the predominant running play called as a result with occasional outside zone or pin toss plays. Expect a lot of chipping and double teams in pass protection. With one of the more talented recent Ranorian QB prospects under center in Dante Flowers, this will be one of the NSCF's most aggressive passing attacks. It should be noted that Cold Hill's longtime OC, Daniel Booker, has taken the vacant job as HC of the Ranoria City Falcons and brought with him QBs coach Orton Smith and TEs coach Garry Dennier.

Defensive Style: Base 3-4 Defense. In essence, make a bunch of plays and cause enough disruption to stop the offense. Outside linebackers serve primarily as edge rushers with very rare drop backs into coverage, while big defensive linemen clog up the interior. Heavy emphasis on pass rush. Scheme features a lot of blitzing, particularly from cornerbacks, and relies on linebackers to soak up tackles while the front men key on the passer. In the run game, expect a contain and bounce inside approach, to force runners straight into the linebacking core. Tendency to give up a lot of big plays but make plenty themselves.

1 Heine Stølan sen 6-4 175 Valanora

Key Losses:
WR Heine Stølan: Longtime deep threat for the Buffalo, Heine Stølan was the burner for this offense and took on a true WR1 role for the Buffalo last season. The team seems to have hit its limit on recruiting the best of the best receivers every single season, but the room is still loaded.

DE Erik Kessler: Hailing from Chromatika, Kessler is a pure speed threat with a mind to dissect film study. He's going into his senior season now as one of the big contributors on this defense.

Player bios:
Receiving Corps: Earl Silverman had a fantastic season a year ago and is expected to continue his neckbreak pace of production, but Behind him, junior Jordan Martinez out of Utah appears to have been the last member of Cold Hill's streak of bringing in at least one nation's top WR prospect dating back to Nikolas Isaksen, their single-game receiving yards leader. Martinez will be taking on a much larger role this season while athletic freak Pokey Wilson will come in as the third man up on the outside.

QB Dante Flowers: Flowers was theorized by many to be ready to take over much sooner, but Rowles played well enough to keep any real questions of a quarterback change at bay. Flowers has a cannon for an arm and all the physical traits one could ask for, and Buffalo fans are just as excited as they should be to watch the young gunslinger take over for the program. He had a strong campaign in NSCF 32 headlined by a centi-century mark performance against Felswyr State. Flowers has arrived - he's indicated that this is his final season as a Buffalo - can he guide them to a record fourth title?

HB Hebron Naphtali: A brutal if injury prone runner, Naphtali plays with such intensity that his body has trouble handling it. Despite an extensive injury history, Naphtali never missed a game in high school, even with a broken arm. Naphtali produced the first thousand yard rushing season for the Buffalo since NSCF 20 with Hue Ross and is looking to expand on that success as a junior.

ILB Kenny Parham: Brutish inside backer who's rumored to have eaten running backs and confirmed to have made one cry during a game, he's the counter to the "running game wearing you down" strategy - his goal is to relegating your backs to the ice bath for the next week following the game. After an up and down freshman campaign, he's filled out his frame nicely and is looking to make a big jump.

DT Philbert Aitken: As a freshman he came in and immediately impressed at camp despite his physical limitations - his low center of gravity and technical proficiency made him a headache to deal with in camp and it's earned him a starting role as a three tech defensive tackle. After becoming one of the standouts of this defense as a freshman, Aitken has bulked up and has become a truly imposing human being. Aitken mans the middle of this defense and is an absolute force in the interior - if the defensive line makes an impact, it'll be through him.

SS Derek Boss: You all remember what happened last time the Buffalo had a Drawkian strong safety (long live Proko). A free-roaming safety, Derek Boss is an expert at reading quarterbacks - should help that he can see them so easily at 7'5". Great peripheral vision and stop-and-start ability, Boss has great ball skills and is a champion in pursuit drill. Enforcer on the back end, qualified for Academic All-Ranoria last season.

QB Thomas Romeijnsen: Out of Cardenao, the sophomore transfers in as the next man up for Dante Flowers - he's already got game experience and will get a season to be groomed before becoming the presumptive starter for this team in NSCF 34.

QB Chloe Dalla: After Richardson got an absolute legend in Scott Yadav (known World Bowl semi finalist) by dipping into the South Newlandian talent pool, Chris Dale thought his Buffalo should give it a shot. Dalla comes with a pretty strong resume, losing the championship game as a senior but winning the MVP after leading the Big 7 in touchdowns and handoffs resulting in touchdowns. As most Ranorians know, this is one of the most important advanced stats in the sport. Also she gets good grades, and may rival Derek Boss as the best at the student half of student athlete. After all, she thought of going to Ratzupalfu for a more ellie-related degree, but Chris Dale brought her out to the nice farm where Fluffalo lives and that sold her.

Anyway, she's a feisty elephant and will fight hard to win despite a lack of elite physical talent - which has shown itself in camp. She's mostly here as an emotional support backup right now, but the coaching staff has a lot of faith that she'll grow up to be a big strong elephant. Or they just don't care anymore, rumors of Chris Dale's pending retirement are running rampant. Who knows!

+ Drawkian culture requires that most students study for 5 years for an average bachelor's degree.
Previously, players were noted as "+Senior" or "super seniors" if they were in their final year.
That was confusing some people, so now it's shifted to where Seniors are in their final year, etc.
There is now a class under Freshman, noted as "Novatim". All first-year players are called this.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes.
Choose Scoring Events: Yes.
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes.
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes.
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Non-career ending, TG is appreciated.
Godmod Other Events: Yes.
Honestly, just don't destroy my organization. Have fun making a funny or quirky game occur. I will certainly enjoy anything you throw my way.

Like all Drawkians, especially international caliber ones, Sadeg State's players are a top notch group with much to offer skill-wise. The offense primarily operates out of the shotgun with a back lining up alongside the QB, but singleback is pretty common for under center. The pistol make a common appearance, especially when State is running the option. The play call run/pass split is around a 45/55, but don't be surprised to see Brooklyn Beck breaking for scrambles on pass plays. Drag routes, slants, mid-distance crosses, posts, and corner routes are the most common in SSU's playbook. Option running will be most common, with passes from the backfield also seen with Rolo Fishman getting most snaps. SSU is known for having massive talent on the offensive side of the ball, especially in the backfield, but also lining up wide. Watch for tight end passes for huge gains, they're a common target in this scheme, but the current tight end talent isn't elite.

And while the team is renowned for its offense, you can't discount the defense. Talented shutdown corners and DBs are the hallmark and the pass rush is fantastic, but pass defense in the middle of the field leaves a lot to be desired from the linebackers. The biggest issue about the Skyhawk's secondary is that they go for the ball too much - while this results in lots of turnovers, a missed pick obviously results in an opposing receiver in the open field. Blitzes sit on top of the playbook at SSU, just like many Drawkian books. Don't expect to run a similar running play twice, the front 7 is likely to come up with a counter blitz on the fly and smack the back for a loss of yards. Man coverage is called about 75/25 versus Zone coverage, another reason why missed interceptions are dangerous. Cover 2 Man coverage with a 4-3 front is the most common play the defense will run.

Special teams is known for its trick plays, but they don't run them as often as a team like the Grid Corps would. The SSU offense would be much more likely to stay out in 4th and under 2 than bring out the special teams for a fake or a regular punt/kick. As far as kicking, the punters and kickers kick about as good as college punters and kickers. Nothing special there, although they do err on the side of power over accuracy (good luck praying for a kick 6).

Also, see this dispatch about Drawkian physiology. If you don't want to deal with that though feel free to just handwave or ignore it, it's fine by me.

Known affectionately as "The Horseshoe" to locals and to many across TJUN-ia, Sherwood Field combines the raucous atmosphere of a college game with the surrounding local scenery that the region is known for. The big patch of grass in front of the scoreboard is accessible to fans, allowing for a unique viewpoint of the game we all love. While it certainly isn't the biggest venue in all of TJUN-ia, not just the NSCF, its warm and close-up atmosphere can certainly make the difference come game time...

Key Roster Changes added before Matchday 1: Yatya, Auxilionus among big names

Alexandria, Cardenao- With less than 2 days before the first game against the powerhouse Alexandia Univeristy swordsmen the Vaishnavarian National University Athletic Association (VNUAA) has announced that the Vikramandayu Capital University front office had made some roster changes to the current Vikramdayu Kings.

The first was to the starting lineup with Aarav Yatya a walk-on sophomore has been thrust in as Mark Monrosen has opted out for the season after he had a major scan and found out he had a brain tumor. Our hearts and prayers go out to Mark and his family and we hope for his full recovery. VCU staff thrust underrated former high school sensation Aarav Yatya to replace Monrosen's role on the Defensive Line. Yatya was second in the nation in sacks his junior year of high school trailing Monrosen himself. However he suffered a major ACL injury that put him in and out of rehab for most of his Senior year and he ended up only getting one offer: A cap season at the powerhouse sports cool VCU. He took the opportunity and spent his freshman cap year training hard and making himself as injury resistant as possible. He wasn't supposed to be in the NSCF man roster but the Kings had him first on the list for replacements

The rest of the players were also put into the roster to "better improve the depth of certain positions in the roster" as stated by the VCU front office. One notable name was Max Auxilonus who immigrated from war-torn Tanzaka and became a high school sensation in defensive ends. He was guaranteed a scholarship at his local Hulst University before he was found out to have no proof of a birth ID. He could not play on the sports team although he could stay in the college. He spent most of his Freshman year digging through connections back home in a desperate attempt to get some sort of identification and he luckily found it deep in his old towns medical archives. He is a very athletic defensive end and can shed a block very roughly and quickly and is very fast for an end

The other major signings are a bit controversial. Jai Urunula was accused of using PED's throughout high school and was investigated most of his senior year. In his junior year he had dozens of offer and had committed to the powerhouse Sassar State but almost all of the offers were pulled after an investigation into his play was announced include his scholarship at SSU. Luckily he was cleared but he only had 3 offers and committed to VCU who showed tons of belief from him.

Daquavion "Dak" Deforrest blew up on the internet with his brash physical play going viral but his cocky and "hoodlike" manner also caught viral. He led the nation by far in tackles for loss, forced fumbles and ejections. We unfortunately have to keep this part brief due to player safety and privacy concerns from the VCU alumni

NSCF 33 Is Finally Here: BSU+AU Aim To Win It All!! Roster Review Inside!

My friends…my friennddsss, it is that time once again, finally! NSCF time baby, it’s college football! We got the Blue and Orange of LeBois, we got the Red, White, and Blue of Alexandria University, it’s time for the Cardenaoan Colleges to get their helmets on, strap on their chinstraps, and get in the damn game baby!

For LeBois, it’s the ultimate conclusion of Brett Hannah’s saga and a legendary defense as the Broncos come in off back to back Big-8 championships with a desperate dream to finally lift THE BIG ONE. BSU has a stacked wide receiver room, an offensive line led by the legendary Marwin Finlayson, and arguably the best defensive unit in the school’s history as they try to surpass the semi-final mark set by Bobby Dials three years ago. Can they do it? Maybe. Will they do it? Maybe? Are we going to watch every single game and cheer these damn boys in Blue and Orange on to victory? You bet your ass we are.

Meanwhile, the Alexandria University Swordsmen are desperately trying to accomplish anything of note four years on from their dramatic relocation from New Cardonia State to capitalize on the exposure from the AU basketball team’s insane championship run in NSCAA 15. This is a do or die season for the Swordsmen as their star players are in their last year of eligibility, Brett Hannah, legendary quarterback from Ranoria and Deacon St. John, the homegrown World Bowl winner who is already one of the greatest Cardenaoan receivers to play the game. Can they get it done? The Swordsmen had a fantastic recruiting window and managed to return the majority of their upperclass players so this is their time to do it. Will they though? We’re going to find out together!

And with that, here we go folks, NSCF 33 BAYBEE! This is the time, and we’ve got your key to understanding the action, so read on for a review of each and every player to represent Cardenao in the Best Tournament in the Multiverse!

LeBois Santura University Broncos

Quarterbacks:
Brett Hannah: Senior, 6’6 213lbs-Strong Arm
Michael Monrovia (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’2, 206lbs-Scrambler
Delbin Kasekende III (Cass Tech High School [BAN]/BUS): Sophomore, 6’4, 225lbs–Field General
Raymund Fitzgerald (Obyedako High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’1, 201lbs–Dual Threat

After a rollercoaster of a collegiate career thus far, Brett Hannah is returning for his senior year and will try to bring the Broncos to the promised land. Despite possessing a fantastic 6’6 build and having all the physical attributes you could dream of in a QB, Brett prefers to stand tall in the pocket and rocket passes deep down the field. Michael Monrovia is the clear QB2 with his ability to sling it downfield impressive enough, but it’s his genius ability to scramble out of the pocket, extend plays, and generally being a running threat. Now I’m real excited about the third name on the depth chart for BSU, and that’s Busogan Delbin Kasekende III, son of the President of Busoga Islands. He’s a gifted athlete who can throw the ball halfway to Rushmore. We heard a lot about some attitude issues in high school but there hasn’t been any of that in his LeBois career…yet. Finally, the Broncos went out and recruited Raymund Fitzgerald from Obyedako High, who’s really just Michael Monrovia 2.0 except Raymund is even more eager to break from the designated play so he can scramble and improvise—a little bit of coaching to keep him on the designed action will go a long way to getting him some play time.

Running Backs:
Zaro Rodriguez: Senior, 5’8 200lbs-Elusive Back
Cortney Allen (Riverstone International School/CAD): Junior, 5’10, 194 lbs-Receiving Back
Wesley Mack (Glenelg Athletic Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 6’2, 228lbs
Ben Brittain (Academia Cardonia/CAD): Sophomore, 5’10, 194lbs
Chad Sillis (Ranoria City Central High School/RAN): Freshman, 6’2, 236lbs–Power Back
Joey Royal (St. Bonaventura Gold and Blues/CAD): Freshman, 5’9, 200lbs–Power Back

Well, no more World Bowl winning Reno Thai for the Broncos, now the mantle of RB1 falls to Zaro Rodriguez who has developed a ton during his time wearing Blue and Orange. He’s a very slippery runner, nearly impossible to get a hand to, honestly he plays a lot like Reno Thai, just not to the same level. Cortney Allen will likely be the second running back on the list simply due to the difference in his playstyle; where Zaro is a traditional ball in hand running back, Cortney is effectively another receiver out there as he runs routes and catches balls just like the best of them. Definitely a great option for the Bronco’s air raid style, but if they need another traditional RB, well BSU will probably call up Wesley Mack, the sophomore is an absolute bowling ball. The former 5 star recruit is a real battering ram at 6’2 228lbs and will be counted on to bring a punishing physical presence to the backfield. Ben Brittan from Academia Cardonia is the fourth option for LeBois, he’s a little undersized but the sophomore makes up for it by being the fastest back for the Broncos, once this boy smells out a seam in the defense, it’s off to the races. Finally, there’s a pair of freshmen donning the Blue and Orange, Chad Sillis from Ranoria and Joey Royal from St. Bonaventura. Both of the newcomers bring a more power back approach to the position as they absorb hits and try to push on through contact. They’re some real dogs and I’ll be looking forward to seeing more of them.

Tight Ends:
Erik Skarsgård (TKT): Senior, 6’6 255lbs-Possession
Vittorio Bermuda: Junior, 6’5, 260lbs-Vertical Threat
Shy Thomas (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 6’2, 218lbs–Vertical Threat

Another year, another start for the best tight end in Cardenaoan college history, senior Erik Skarsgård from Tikariot. 6’6, 255 pounds, surprising agility, speed, and his ability to catch the ball mean there’s nothing Skarsgård can’t do. He can catch, he can block for runners, he can sit back and protect the passer, he’s simply elite and the Broncos will be counting on him to produce. Junior Vittorio Bermuda has had a disappointing collegiate career thus far, originally the highest rated tight end prospect out of Cardenao, but he’s had to play second fiddle to Erik Skarsgård’s brilliance. Perhaps he’ll get some more snaps this season to prepare for Erik’s graduation. The third name on the depth chart for LeBois is Shy Thomas, sophomore out of Skyview Mountain Academy. Look, this dude makes me nervous. I mean look, he’s an incredible receiving threat and fits into the Broncos preference for athletes who can catch the ball, so that’s great. Unfortunately though, he’s undersized at 6’2 and 218lbs, that’s a real issue on the line when you’ve got that kind of build. Sure, he’s remarkably quick for a tight end, but that’s only because of his build…. the same build that will get him murdered as a blocker. Not really sure what the vision is for Shy Thomas, or for the tight end room overall for the Broncos, I was disappointed they didn’t recruit someone in the offseason.

Wide Receivers:
Denario Southward (Ranoria City Cathedral High School/RAN) : Junior, 6’4, 225lbs-X Receiver
Andrew Legnfish (Ficilian Point High School/CAD): Sophomore, 6’5, 223lbs
Hodoi White (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 5’11, 200lbs–Deep Threat
Justice Harmon (Riverstone International School/CAD): Junior, 6’2, 171lbs-Z Receiver
Dante Conner (University of Columbus-Prairie/DHE): Junior, 6’1, 200lbs–Slot Receiver
Joey Ma'afala (Mokuleia Island High Surfers/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 208lbs–Dual Threat
Jack Carver (Academia Cardonia Golden Knights/CAD) Freshman, 5’11, 208lbs–Route Technician

The Broncos are rolling out a stacked, if young, wide receiver room this season and it all starts with the electric Denario Southward. The junior from Ranoria has been fantastic through his collegiate career and now has a chance to show the world exactly how talented he is as the WR1 for LeBois. Former three time high school champion, Denario is fast, strong, tall, has a fully developed route tree, and has a solid grasp of all the little things receivers need to execute to make the big play. Sophomore Andrew Legnfish had a great freshman campaign and earned the WR2 slot with his level of play. Honestly Andrew is a little cracked as a player, to be 6’5 and that fast, with such fluid hips and a great ability to track the ball, it’s just a bit of a cheat code to be honest, doubly so when he’s playing off Denario Southward, so I am thrilled to see how this plays out. The WR3, to start the season at least, is sophomore Hodoi White. Offensive player of the year, All-Cardenao team, high school championship, high school championship game MVP, what a senior year it was for the Skyview Mountain Academy Flier ace. Sure he had a quiet freshman season for LeBois but that’s only because the coaching staff wanted to ease him into college play. This season though, I’m expecting to see a lot more from Hodoi, likely a fair amount of trick plays to unlock the most from Hodoi’s unique ability to get it done in the air and on the ground. Justice Harmon from Riverstone will be the first name off the bench for the Broncos and he’s really just your classic tall, fast, catch ball sort of receiver. No special bells and whistles, just getting the job done mate. Now, I’m curious about this next name, newcomer Dante Conner from University of Columbus-Prairie. The junior transplant from Dhemexia is a Mineral Conference champion in NSCF 30 and the 6’1 wideout pairs otherworldly speed with good verticality to make the most of his limited options. Honestly, I expect Dante to feast despite the lower snap count, all the attention will go to the big names leaving this lad free to dance against a third or fourth string cornerback. Finally, there’s a pair of freshmen from Cardenao who fill out a crowded receiver room. First, there’s Joey Ma’afala from Mokuleia Island High, who I wouldn’t be surprised to see creep up the depth chart and start taking snaps from Hodoi White, because Joey’s basically Hodoi but taller and stronger at 6’2, 208 pounds. He can catch the ball, he can run the ball, shit he even threw the ball in high school a couple times, and he does that all with the sort of fluid athleticism that the greats are born with. Last but not least, we have Jack Carver. The Golden Knight from Academia Cardonia isn’t the fastest or the strongest nor does he jump the highest but Jack is dedicated to the game; he knows his routes and the defensive playbook inside and out and that’s how he wins his matchups.

Guards:
Marwin Finlayson (QUE): Senior, 6’8 312lbs-Power
Joel Azpita (J.C. Evermore Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’8, 330lbs-Pass Protector
Francis 'Big Frank' Shrubsman (OCH): Senior, 6’6, 319lbs-Run blocker
Micah Monroe (Ranoria City Cathedral/RAN): Sophomore, 6’2, 300lbs

One last ride for the legendary Marwin Finlayson who captains an BSU team hoping to make it three Big-8 titles in a row, ideally with a championship on top. The three-time Big-8 First-Team recipient is an absolute tank, an absolute waffle who destroys everything in his path and keeps Brett Hannah’s jersey clean. The best OL of all time in Cardenaoan ball. Lining up alongside Finlayson is Joel Azpita, who has delivered on his high school rep of being the next great Cardenaoan linesmen with two years of stellar performances for the Broncos. A frontline featuring Marwin and Joel is nigh impenetrable and fans will be desperate to see them get it done. The first alternate option for the Broncos at Guard will be The Ochren, senior Big Frank Shrubsman. He’s big, he’s round, he keeps his chest up and his feet moving to push the line forward, Big Frank is everything you want from a run blocker and he really hit his stride as a pass pro over the home stretch last season. Finally, there’s the sophomore from Ranoria, Micah Monroe. A demanding, tireless guard, you Micah can fit in any spot on the line and he’ll deliver a solid performance. He’s got solid technical skill and the physical beefiness to back it up.

Tackles:
Jass Reuhnmatkers (Treasure Valley Triceratops/CAD): Junior, 6’6, 289lbs–Agile Blocker
Jernard Bryant (Alameda High School/CAD): Sophomore, 6’4, 281lbs–Pass Protector
Kale Kalarano Matthewson (Mokuleia Island High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’4, 311lbs–Power Blocker

More size on the O-line as Jass Reuhnmatkers starts for the second season running. At 6’6, 289 pounds, Jass is a former high-school wrestling champion and is very light on his feet and he’s got great hands, it’s easy to see why the Broncos were desperate to get him out of Treasure Valley High. Sophomore Jernard Bryant gets the starting nod for the first time considering the dearth of talent in the Broncos tackle room. At 6’4, 281lbs, Jernard is comparatively quick as a bullet on the O-line as he shuffles to wherever he needs to be. I do worry about his somewhat shorter arms and that he’s a bit on the slimmer side for the position, but sometimes the advantages that extra agility brings pays off. The final option for LeBois is freshman Kale Kalarano Matthewson from Mokuleia. The three-star recruit has quite a bit to learn about the finer points of being a tackle but when you’re already 6’4, 311lbs as a freshman, well you can’t teach that! I think Kale will develop into a good, though perhaps not great, player in his final seasons, but the Broncos will definitely need to make recruiting their next great tackle a priority goal.

Centers:
Bairo Oyañder (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’3, 322lbs-Agile Protector
Lemothy Montreal (Treasure Valley Triceratops/CAD): Sophomore, 6’1, 296lbs
Antoine Anderson (Obyedako High/CAD): Sophomore, 6’2, 301lbs

A young but experienced center room for LeBois with a junior and a pair of sophomores, and it’s Bairo Oyañder who retains the starting position. He got the football IQ needed to excel at center and Bairo’s got the physical punch to back it up. His powerful, his surprisingly quick, he’s got the brain to make it all work, Bairo is two seasons away from getting drafted, bet on it. Backing him up is the first of two sophomores, Lemothy Montreal from the Treasure Valley Triceratops. He’s the smallest member of the room at 6’1 and just under 300 pounds but he’s a fantastic pass protector and knows how to buy Brett Hannah precious time with the ball. Finally, we’ve got Antoine Anderson, Mr. AA himself who came in from the Obyedako High Blue Devils. He’s much more run focused with some scary agility and short-distance speed for being over 300 pounds. When Antoine is in the game, you know the Broncos are looking to run the ball hard.

Defense:

Main Formation: 4-3 defense
Tackle
Jair Judge (RAN): Senior, 6’8 280lbs-Power Rusher
Elias Olden (VAL): Senior, 6’ 220lbs-Speed Rusher
Jude Way (Academia Cardonia/CAD): Sophomore, 6’4, 260lbs-Speed Rusher
Iken Buckley (Treasure Valley Triceratops/CAD): Freshman, 6’7, 330lbs-Power Rusher

I’m sure there will be tears in Broncos fans' eyes as they read this, but this will sadly be the last season of the legendary Jair Judge-Elias Olden defensive duo. After three seasons of terrorizing offenses, the Ranorian and Vanorian enter their senior seasons hoping to bring the championship to Cardenao. J.Judge. is an absolute beast, knows to work his way through the offensive line…if his sheer speed and strength alone isn’t enough to overwhelm the player in front of him, well he’s got a deep bag of moves to pull out as he single mindedly makes his way to the quarterback. Elias Olden, the Vanorian, lines up with him and brings a totally different approach to the position; this sort of one-two punch is what made the Broncos defensive line so lethal last season. While JJ will absolutely smash you with his brute strength, Elias is an absolutely explosive athlete who uses his speed and powerful technique to burst through his opponent to get hands on the quarterback. Then there’s sophomore Jude Way from Academia Cardonia. The 6’4, 260 pounder is built for speed and agility based movements to maneuver his way through the O-line. Jude helped lead Academia Cardonia to the high school championship with his 39 total tackles and five sacks over the course of nine games. Finally, there’s Ivan Buckley fresh from the Treasure Valley. The newcomer actually played most of his snaps on the O-line in high school, but the Broncos are convinced that if you give Buckley’s 6’7, 330 pound frame a little downward momentum, he’ll smash right through the offensive line. On paper, I can see the vision but in reality I think it’ll take a season or two of solid coaching to get there.

Defensive Ends:
Mack King: Senior, 6’1, 278lbs-Speed Rusher
Priest Hunter (Timberline High School): Junior, 6’4, 269lbs-Power Rusher
Kyle McKathryn (St. Bonaventura/CAD): Sophomore
Jerrid Réamann (J.C. Evermore Academy Green Titans/CAD: Freshman, 6’8, 294–Power Rusher

Since his freshman year, Mack King has been tasked with being the difference maker on defense and damn if the frat star hasn’t lived up to that billing! The King is entering his senior year a legend with three first-team selections, back to back Big-8 championships, and he’s a World Bowl winner. What better way to close out a legendary college than with LeBois’ first college championship? Joining him is junior partner Priest Hunter, the explosive beast who powers through the offense and brings the ball carrier down to the ground. Next up, sophomore Kyle McKathryn out of Eastern Cardenao. The former Gold and Blue from St. Bonaventura is an excellent tackler who has all the physical talents to succeed and we saw glimpses of that during his freshman season. Kyle is fast and strong with a frame that’s still filling out. We did see some of the lack of foresight, but he’s known to hole up in the film room so I expect improvement this year. Finally we got Jerrid Réamann, freshman from the J.C. Evermore Academy. Fresh off a national championship and his second All-Cardenaoan selection, Big J averaged just under five tackles per game and the Broncos are getting a real dog. First in, last out, always demanding more from his teammates and doubly so from himself, he has the potential to become a real star for BSU right when the legends are heading out the door.

Middle Linebackers:
Tito Bird (Fulton Prep/DRK): Sophomore, 7’10, 295lbs
Cooper Harry (Skyview Mountain Academy): Sophomore, 6’2, 236lbs
Laura Davis (SNL): Senior-Pass Coverage

Not a bad season for Tito Bird who became the first Bronco to be selected to the Big-8 First Team as a true freshman. Brought in to fill the hole left by Alabaster Red, the 7’10, 295lber from Drawkland is a monster who can do it all, frankly it seems like a cheat code to have Big Bird out there but hey, that’s why we all love Drawkland! Backing him up will be sophomore Cooper Harry who, at 6’2, 236lbs, isn’t quite as big as Tito but still big enough to do the job. The former high school champion is the tackle man, doesn’t matter who has the ball, doesn’t matter where they are on the field, Cooper gonna tackle them. Finally, we have senior Laura Davis of South Newlandia. You have to feel bad for her, she’s played well in her collegiate career but competing as an undersized player in a team that values size and speed, it was always going to be an issue. Hopefully she goes out with a college championship!

Outer Linebackers:
Zaire Montclaire: Senior, 6’4, 228lbs-Pass Coverage
Caleb Roberts (Tooele High School/UTA): Junior, 6’2, 220lbs-Run Stopper
Juan Williams (Eastern Tip/NEW): Junior, “Outstanding Size”-Power Rusher

Once a room full of young talent, now the Broncos OLB room has matured into some serious talent. Zaire Montclaire has written his name in school history as a fantastic pass disrupter during BSU’s run to back-to-back Big-8 championships. A pair of juniors back him up, first is Utahan Caleb Roberts. At 6’2, 220lbs, he’s built well to be a tackling machine and a relentless pursuit of the ball carrier. He’s got a smart football IQ and his instincts are sharp, earning him plenty of snaps. Last but not least, for LeBois is Juan Williams, the junior out of Newport is great at hunting down the quarterback or stopping the RB in his tracks and will be counted on to jump down the center to jam up the play.

Cornerbacks:
Rogerio Ludovico: Senior, 6’, 213lbs-Hybrid
Daniel Koo (Baja Calania/QUE): Junior-6’2, 198lbs
Conrad Siolla (SHM): Senior, 6’1, 200lbs-Hybrid
Trevor Gowins (La Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Sophomore, 5’11, 186lbs
Jerome Shotgun Brown (Walk-On): Sophomore, 5’11, 200lbs

Looking at the Broncos’ cornerback room, it’s clear to see that this group is focused on size and speed, with 4 of 5 CBs standing over 6’ in height. Senior Rogerio Ludovico starts for the third season in a row and the rocket fueled bowling bowl is devoted to running down whoever he’s targeting, it can be a receiver or a running back or a quarterback, don’t matter to Rogerio! He’s gotten much better at actual pass coverage, being responsible for several key knockdowns and interceptions last season. Daniel Koo of Quebec will continue to partner with him after a great season starting as a sophomore. It doesn’t hurt that he runs a 4.4 40 at 6’2 either, paired with good footwork, soft hands, nice fluid hips, and a solid knowledge of coverage schemes? It makes sense why the junior has become a key member of the defensive unit. Backing them up is fellow junior Conrad Siolla from Schima Bas. Conrad’s all about physicality, about being a damn dirty dog, he’s gotten better at pass coverage but he’s at his best aiming himself at the ball-carrier like a missile. Finally, we got a pair of sophomores holding it down at the end of the bench, the first being Trevor Gowins, the former All-Cardenao player is 5’11, quick as hell and has the innate sense of positioning that every elite cornerback needs. I expect him to make a play for the starting position over the course of the season, though I would be surprised to see him get it. Finally we got Jerome Shotgun Brown, the walk on sensation. Shotgun Brown used to be a quarterback in high school football and you can see that reflected in how he approaches the cornerback position. Patient, watching like a hawk, ready to pluck the ball out of the air because he read the play a long time ago, sucker.

Safeties:
Cheeto Masarati (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’5, 225lbs–All-Arounder
Heinrik Dessler (CMT): Senior, 6’4, 210lbs-Pass Coverage
João Kaloloua (Mokuleia Island High/CAD): Sophomore, 6’1, 294lbs
Juan Marston Jr. (St. Bonaventura/CAD): Sophomore, 6’, 194lbs

A bit of a surprise here as the Broncos have named junior Cheeto Masarati as their first look at safety, unseating Heinrik Dessler after the Chromatik started for the last three seasons. It’s not hard to see why though, at 6’5, 225 pounds, Cheeto Masarati has an absurd body and it’s a shock to see him playing safety to be honest, he could’ve been a helluva wide receiver. He’s big, he’s fast, he’s got long arms and tackles hard, Cheeto does it all for LeBois. Speaking of Heinrik, it’s not like he’s some shrimp compared to Masarati, the Chromatik is still 6’4, well built at 210lbs, he’s still the incredible coverage safety he’s been since his freshman year. Rounding things out in the safety room are a pair of sophomores, the first being João Kaloloua. Is he fast? Fast enough. Is he strong? Strong enough. Does he have an incredible football mind that means those other two are essential? Absolutely. João is a cerebral player who has the knack of being in the right place, doing the right thing, at the right time. Finally, thankfully, we’ve got Juan Marston Jr. The sophomore comes in from St. Bonaventura is a bit of a question mark after missing most of his freshman season due to injury, so we’ll see what we’re dealing with this year I suppose!

Alexandria University Swordsmen

Quarterbacks:
Nick Singer (RAN): Senior, 6’6 215lbs-Pocket Passer
Peppi Klerkx (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 6’3, 208lbs–Dual Threat
Bruce Bennett (Elephant Valley University/SNL): Sophomore,
Stan Aniol Dereschi (Hatathia High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 200lbs–Strong Arm

Here we go baby, Alexandria University fans…this is Nick Singer’s final season and he hasn’t hesitated to predict it’ll be the best in school history. The 6’6 senior from Ranoria has made his mark on the Swordsmen program, lifting them from being a sad team to one with a bright future as long as he was under center. Singer can throw it deep, he can throw it accurately, he stands talls under pressure, he’s the real deal and his partnership with fellow senior Deacon St. John is elite. Backing him up is sophomore Peppi Klerkx, the most successful Cardenaoan high school quarterback of the modern era as he won the championship and MVP as he threw for 2438 yards and 25 touchdowns and added 627 and 4 on the ground. His speed, agility, and willingness to scramble brings a much different dimension to the game compared to Nick Singer’s excellence in the pocket, but as a relief option, he could set himself up smartly to be the #1 option next season. Bruce Bennett is a recent transfer into Alexandria U from Elephant Valley University in South Newlandia. Bruce has video game proportions with his size, speed, and rocket arm he loves to show off…maybe too much. Alanso Isa, the Banijan head coach of the Swordsmen, has been clear that Bennett is coming in as a depth option, but he’s reuniting with high school teammate Krish Couto, if the pair can reclaim their high school connection then perhaps they’ll both find themselves moving up the depth chart. Finally, there’s the newcomer to the QB room, Stan Aniol Dereschi. Fresh out from Hatathia High, Staniol won the MVP award as a junior and finished his high school career with 3393 yards and 24 touchdowns on 310 completed passes. He’s got a strong arm and isn’t afraid to air it out, but Stan can sometimes get a little too comfortable in the pocket for his own good.

Running Backs:
Mario LePlus: Senior, 6’1, 208lbs–Elusive Back
Zachary Perez (NGS): Senior–Power Back
Xanderrick Woolley (Elmo High School/UTA): Junior, 5’11, 236lbs–Power back
Nick Hollowell (Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Junior, 5’10, 180lbs–Elusive back
Gavin Hall (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’, 183lbs–Receiving back
Ka'hleel Makaio (Mokuleia Island High/CAD): Freshman, 5’10, 206lbs–Elusive back

The running back room is one that the Swordsmen have historically not really cared about and you can see that reflected in the class breakdown this season, two seniors, three juniors and a single freshman, that’s an old room! That being said, this is the first time in three years Alexandria hasn’t had to say goodbye to their lead running back as senior Mario LePlus returns for his final season of eligibility. At 6’1, 208 pounds, he’s ready to rock and roll with a lot more strength and increased ability to break tackles to go with his shifty running motion. Zachary Perez of New Gesem returns as the premier power back for the Swordsmen whenever they need to smash forward for a couple yards. Xanderrick Woolley from Utah rose to the #3 spot last season, at 5’11, 236lbs, this dude is dense as hell and nearly impossible to bring down when he charges forward. The kid from Elmo High School will destroy anyone in front of him, heck he goes out of his way to run over defenders, but he can be guilty of giving up silly fumbles, with five to his name last season. Next up is Nick Hollowell out of La Escuela Nacíonal DCPF, he’s a slippery runner who seems to just glide past tackles with the sort of speed that makes him the fastest in this AU RB room.

Then we got Nick Hollowell from the famous Escuela Nacíonal DCPF, he’s a shifty sort of back who really explodes out of his cuts, sure he didn’t really show much his freshman season but he also didn’t get many opportunities to do so……this is a sort of prove it or get the fuck off my team sort of season for Nick. Rounding out the room is freshman Gavin Hall from the Brøgby Preparatory Academy Minors. A true two way player who rushed for 393 yards and three touchdowns on 77 rushes and 112 receiving yards on 14 catches, good enough for an All-Cardenao selection. It seems Gavin feels most comfortable with the ball in his hands, however it got there doesn’t matter but he wants his fate in his hands. As a freshman, snaps will be limited but as an explosive, pass catching lad with Nick Singer passing his way? All Gavin Hall needs is a chance and I’m sure he’ll take it.

Tight ends:
Qamiya Parrine (CMT): Senior, 6’7, 245lbs-Vertical Threat
Jón Úlfursson (Endor High School/KYP): Junior, 6’7, 284lbs–All-Around Threat
Kainao Savaiinaea (Mokuleia Island High/CAD): Freshman, 6’7, 258lbs–Catch ‘n Block

Qamiya Parrine has gone from strength to strength, learning the intricacies to become an absolute weapon in every way possible. The coordination, quickness, and speed of thought at 6’7, I mean come on why couldn’t I have been born like this? He’s in his final season now and will seek to become the first player at a Cardenaoan college to be selected to the Big-8 First-Team all four years of his career. That’s a tough act to follow but junior Next option is junior Jón Úlfursson from Endor High School in The Kytler Peninsulae. Another 6’7 target for the line but, unlike Qamiya, Jón is built like an absolute tank with a 284 pound frame; the young man has a natural sense for catching the ball but lacks refinement on that front meaning he’ll likely see snaps as the flanker-a block-first pass option who will see a lot more time as he develops his skills. Finally, we’ve got freshman Kainao Savaiinaea from Mokuleia Island High, one of the highest rated tight end recruits out of Cardenao. Oh wow, another 6’7 tight end for AU, how original! Nah but Kainao is a player who plays simply but plays exceptionally because he stays within the confines of his game, which is catching the ball nice and blocking on the line well. It ain’t much but it’s honest work.

Wide Receiver:
Deacon St. John, Senior, 6’4, 218lbs-Playmaker
Pule Tuigamela (UTA): Senior, 6’3 214lbs-Playmaker
Ilman Kofi (North Star Prep School/BAN): Sophomore, 6’4, 237lbs – Weapon X
Julius Whiteside (Riverstone International School/CAD): Sophomore, 6’4, 209lbs
Riccardo Alessandro (Obyedako High Blue Devils/CAD): Junior, 5’10, 173lbs-Deep Threat
Krish Couto (Paachang High School/SNL): Sophomore – Deep Threat
Dakota Mitherali (Alameda High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 213lbs – Route Technician

After three years of excellence, Deacon St. John is entering his final season and he’ll be wanting to make the most of it. World Bowl champion, NSCAA-16 star, he’s tall, fast, powerful…he’s perfect. Running the WR2 spot is senior Pule Tuigamela from Utah, he’s got a strong body, good hands, real speed, and he is primed to feast on the targets left open by the defense’s focus on Deacon. After a season marinating in the film room and practice field, Banijan sophomore Ilman Kofi has shot up to the WR3 position thanks to his otherworldly athleticism, to run a 4.39 40 at 6’4, 237lbs and only be in your second year of eligibility is legitimately insane. Backing him up will be fellow sophomore Julius Whiteside, at 6’4 he’s a like-for-like replacement for Kofi, but Julius is certainly slower and less powerful–the former All-Cardenaoan will hope to make a big impact off the bench after a quiet freshman season. Next up is junior Riccardo Alessandro, he’s short and slight of frame but he’s fast, he’s agile, and he can catch a football; what more do you need from a speedy boy option? The emergence of Ilman and Julius means there will be less snaportunities for Riccardo, but there will definitely be situations where he’ll have this number called. Then we got the former number 1 recruit from South Newlandia, Krish Couto, he’s got the size and the strength to win 1v1 but suffers from the problem of being kinda like Deacon St. John but worse…snap opportunities will be slim for Krish Couto but at least he reunites with his former high school quarterback Bruce Bennett, this will be a season of making the most out of nothing for the Newlandian. Finally, freshman Dakota Mitherali arrives from the Alameda High School Desperados looking ready to carry water for the rest of the team! 76 catches at the high school level for 835 yards and five touchdowns ain’t the best, but Dakota showed an elite ability to run routes and to be open at the right place, at the right time to make the narrow catch. With Nick Singer slinging the ball, I’d expect this boy to eat in the limited opportunities he’s given. No shame in a low snap count as a freshman in this Alexandria University wide receiver room; on paper this is likely the most skilled position room we’ve ever seen at a Cardenaoan college.

Guards:

Harold Teller (Myana Northwestern High School/CMT): Junior, 6’3, 287lbs–Agile
Kevin Pisano (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 6’, 293lbs-Power
LaJello Mane (Alexandria High/CAD): Sophomore, 6’2, 307lbs
Christina Paol (SHM): Senior, 6’3, 245lbs-Agile

Anchoring the line for the second year running is junior guard Harold Teller of Chromatika, the former high school champion and top-25 recruit has quick, active feet and good hands. Add in a sprinkle of explosiveness and some surprising upfield ability and you got a player who can both work pass and run protection schemes. Harold did well last season to limit pressures on Nick Singer, Alanso Isa will be expecting more from the Chromatik as the Swordsmen eye the ultimate prize. Pairing up with Teller will be sophomore Kevin Pisano, who surpassed all expectations last season as a true freshman starter. 6’ flat with a powerful 293 pound build, the former Brøogby Miner explodes into action once the ball is snapped and knows how to use his smaller frame to out-anchor longer limbed opponents. Next up in the rotation is another sophomore, say hello to LaJello Mane, a lifelong Alexandria boy. Already over 300 pounds…this kid is friggin massive! Lots of power, lots of strength, LaJello is first and foremost a physical specimen, you could see him starting to pick up the finer points of technique and skill toward the back end of his freshman season, keep up that progression and LaJello will be a lock to start once Harold Teller graduates. Finally we’ve Christina Paol of Schima Bas…look she has great heart and competes at the top level with superb speed and surprising strength for her build, but the fact of the matter is a 245 lineman is going to get steamrolled…there’s a reason the senior is at the bottom of the depth-chart.

Tackles:
Tanielu Tupua (UTA): Senior, 6’7 313lbs-Power
Marcos Aoás Corrêa (Mokuleia Island High/CAD): Junior, 6’5, 298lbs-Agile
Phil Chandler (Obyedayo High School/CAD): Sophomore, 6’5, 321lbs
Jerome B. Pitts (St. Bonaventura/CAD): Sophomore, 6’3, 284lbs
Okwayi Nduulu (Jinkono High School/BNJ): Freshman, 6’8, 310lbs–Pass Protection

Once again but for the last time, the mighty Tanielu Tupua of Utah leads the line for the Swordsmen. The 6’7 senior has been an absolute stonewall during his time at Alexandria, weaving himself into the legend of the school thanks to three seasons of excellence from the team captain. Despite being a giant of a human, Tanielu keeps the mood light with his light-hearted, joking nature, though he does bring a controlled aggression in the weight room and on the field to grind the most out of his teammates. Teammates and fans will be sad to see him go, there is definitely a sense of needing to get TaniTu and the other graduating seniors a piece of silverware to finish their collegiate careers. Junior Marcos Aoás Corrêa found himself starting last season and he finished the year looking the part. The 6’5 beast from Mokuleia Island High is quick on his feet and very agile, attributes that translated well to both pass protection and run blocking. There was a real sense of intrigue last season about then freshman Phil Chandler coming in from Obyedayo High and immediately challenging for the starting position due to his absurd size and natural feel for the game, but it became clear in his limited opportunities that Phil lacked the necessary refinement to start at the next level. Heading into his sophomore year he’s clearly on the bench, yet you get the sense the door to the starting position isn’t entirely closed. Finally, the Swordsmen have Jerome B. Pitts from St. Bonaventura in Cardenao. At 6’3, 284 pounds he is slightly undersized compared to the rest of the room, but Jerome is also the quickest and knows how to use his speed to get right where he needs to be to keep Nick Singer standing up. The final option off the bench is the only freshman in the room and a player I am extremely high on…it’s Okwayi Nduulu from Banija. The #7 Banijan high school recruit is already an astonishing 6’8, 310 pounds and continues the tradition of ridiculously oversized powermen from Aksum who specialize in pass protection…I expect this kid to be close to starting by the end of his freshman season.

Centers:
Sean Ventura (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’2, 298lbs-Pass Protector
Deonte Babineaux (La Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Freshman, 6’, 318lbs–Run Blocker
Eddie Gillson (Unknown/???): Sophomore, 6’1, 304lbs

After three years of holding down the center spot, Romeo Davis has graduated and the burden of C now falls to junior Sean Ventura. The 6’2 third-year student hasn’t gotten many opportunities to show his ability, but in the flashes we saw, it was clear he’s a stout, powerful blocker who can move his legs decently enough to keep the pocket intact for his quarterback. Now the starter, all eyes will be on Sean to see how he performs. If he slips up, well Alexandria went out and recruited Deonte Babineaux, the three star recruit and former All-Cardenaoan from La Escuela Nacíonal DCPF could find himself getting starting snaps. 6’ flat and a whopping 318 pounds, Deonte is ready to feast from a physical perspective, though his technique work in pass protection certainly needs some work. The third option for the Swordsmen is Eddie Gillson. Nobody is quite sure where the sophomore is from, one day Eddie just showed up and that was that.

Defense:

Main Formation: 3-3-5 defense
Tackles:
Theo Mon’Sinclair: Senior, 6’5, 312lbs-Run Stopper
Junior Washington (Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Junior, 6’6, 294lbs-Speed Rusher
Jeremy Jones (Academia Cardonia/CAD): Junior, 6’3, 309lbs-Power Rusher
Martin Morken (Magnus Academy/VAL): Freshman, 6’5, 232lbs–Dominator

And now we get a chance to look at the defensive side of things for AU, let’s start with the D-tackles, who got a much needed injection of freshman talent in the offseason. Leading the line though will be senior Theo Mon’Sinclair in his third season as a starter. 6’5, 312 pounds, Theo is simply larger than the offensive line and rumbles through it to deliver punishing hits to whoever is unlucky enough to have the ball. He isn’t the fastest boy though, so Theo tries to do his damage quickly before the play escapes him. Junior Washington, the Junior, will start alongside Theo and he brings a much needed boost in speed to the defensive line, with the 6’6 monster able to chase down his prey. Next up comes Jeremy Jones, with the former Academia Cardonia star once again finding himself to be a replacement for Theo Mon’Sinclair. Jeremy is a fine player, the junior plays with a lot of heart and goes through the whistle, but Theo simply does everything Jeremy does, better. The final option off the bench is the only underclassmen in the DT room, it’s Martin Morken from Valanora. The #2 recruit from the Magnus Academy is a physical dominator, he’s got the size at 6’5, he’s already started filling out in the Swordsmen weight room at 232 pounds with more to go, and he’s comparatively fast as shit for being so huge. He can play edge or linebacker, but his blend of power and speed are best used finessing his way through the line to cause chaos.

Defensive Ends:
Garran Cluff (UTA): Senior, 6’6 267lbs-Speed Rusher
Koldo Davis Montremari (La Escuela Nacíonal DCPF/CAD): Sophomore, 6’7, 273lbs
Elmo Cisarinho (Timberline High School/CAD): Sophomore, 6’4, 281lbs
Abraham Dove (Brøgby Preparatory Academy/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 245lbs–Speed Rusher
Antonio Blair (St. Bonaventura/CAD): Freshman, 6’7, 284lbs–Power Rusher

In a very young edge room for the Swordsmen, the first name on the sheet is obviously Caden Larrazabal. The 6’6 senior from Utah is tall, he’s fast, he has a killer row move to get past his mark, and he excels at slapping down pass attempts thanks to his long arms. What more do you want from your edge? Joining him on the line is sophomore Koldo Davis Montremari, the former Cardenaoan high school DPOY has a fantastic 6’7, 273 pound body that seems made to sack the quarterback, making solo tackles, and snagging interceptions on the line. With these skills, it’s only natural Koldo takes the starting spot made available by Caden Larrazabal’s graduation. Right behind KDM is Elmo Cisarinho, formerly of Timberline High in Cardenao. The 6’4 edge is sturdy and strong with his 281lbs frame lending itself to punishing the offensive line in a war of attrition. Obviously he’s powerful as hell, but Elmo has some surprising quickness to his game too, which helps him explode through the gap to hit the QB. Next up, we have a pair of four star recruits coming into the room, first up is Abraham Dove. The former Brøgby Miner is definitely the runt of the room at ‘only’ 6’2, 245 pounds, but he’s also by far the quickest and most agile, and Dove boomerangs around the offensive line in the time it takes for them to get out of their stance. And now we go from smallest to biggest in the room as we talk about fellow newcomer Antonio Blair from St. Bonaventura in Cardenao. At 6’7 and 284 pounds, he is the big boy in the room but needs to learn the finer points to the game other than ‘me big, me smash’ which works well in high school but less so against bigger, better bodies in collegiate ball.

Middle Linebackers:
Pau van Goff-Icleson (Hatathia High School/CAD): Sophomore, 6’3, 241lbs – Field General
Rudi Larkin: Senior, 6’2, 239lbs-Pass Coverage
Maliek Davis (Glenelg Athletic Academy/CAD): Freshman, 5’11, 211lbs – Disrupter
Darren Driscoll (Ficilian Point High/CAD): Freshman, 6’, 223lbs – Speed Rusher

With Rashad Nijman’s graduation, a hole opened up in the heart of defense and it’s not a surprise to see Pau van Goff-Icleson chosen to fill it. The former 5-star recruit from Hatathia High has the size, the speed, but most importantly, the IQ and leadership that the middle linebacker needs to have. He used to be called the next Big Alabaster Red…let’s see if that’s legit. If it isn’t, well that’ll be disappointing but will give senior Rudi Larkin a chance to shine. Compared to Pau’s overall excellence, Rudi will make his money as an elite pass disruption option at the center of the field. He’s great at reading the quarterback and receivers to position himself in potential passing lanes, leading to a lot of deflected passes and eight interceptions in his collegiate career. Next up is freshman Maliek Davis, the former Glenelg Dragon is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades in that he can do a little bit of everything, leading to a lot a bit of overall play disruption. One play it’s knocking a pass to the ground, the next is rushing the passer, then it’s sitting in the hole and bringing the runner to the ground, there’s not much Maliek can’t do, and that’s why he earned a 5 star reputation despite being under six feet tall. Finally, the Swordsmen can call on fellow freshman Darren Driscoll. 6 foot, 223 pounds, Darren is definitely the fastest linebacker in Cardenao and uses that speed to cause all sorts of damage to the offense. He can hang with receivers, he can sprint through a hole in the line, he can make a game-defining chase down tackle…DD will find his place in the team as he continues to refine his approach to the game.

Outer Linebackers:
Valerio Zarragoza: Senior, 6’2, 219lbs-Speed Rusher
Orlando Jreerwood (Glenelg Academy/CAD): Junior, 6’1, 202lbs-Pass Coverage
Trevardo Chung (St. Bonaventura/CAD): Junior: 6’2, 230-Run Stopper
Kristian Edvardsen (Magnus Academy/VAL): Senior, 6’, 176lbs–Speed Rusher

A once young outer linebacker room for Alexandria U has now aged, there’s not a single underclassmen here for the Swordsmen. Valerio Zaragoza is the only senior in the team and he’ll be starting for the second season in a row. Valerio is quick as hell and has the strength needed to bring his prey to the ground. Junior Orlando Jreerwood has a great mind for pass coverage and regularly gives the secondary a helping hand to shut down deep shots. Fellow junior Trevardo Chung will be the next option off the bench, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him step up the depth chart thanks to how sure handed he is in the run game. Trevardo is more powerful than he is quick, which works perfectly when the Swordsmen need to pack the box and shut down any rush attempts. The final option off the bench for Alexandria is Vanorian Kristian Edvardsen, but I would be surprised to see her get much game time. Undersized and underpowered is no way to approach the linebacker position but unfortunately that’s what Kristian brings to the game. She is fast as hell and surprisingly strong for her build, but that simply isn’t enough and she’ll finish her career as a backup.

Cornerbacks:
Theodore Usania (CMT): Senior, 6’5, 240lbs-Hybrid
Haritz Arteria: Senior, 6’1, 203lbs-Run Support
Alton Benjamin (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 5’10, 196lbs – Pass Coverage
Trevor Rose (Skyview Mountain Academy/CAD): Sophomore, 5’9, 173lbs – Pass Coverage
Steven Sheehan (Timberline High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’, 198lbs – Hybrid

The cornerback room is packed with talent for Alexandria University and it all starts with school legend Theodore Usania from Chromatika. Dominant since starting as a true freshman, Theo is freakishly oversized at 6’5 and 240 pounds, he’s bigger than most receivers and he has the speed to hang with them. Par wrong him will be fellow senior Haritz Arteria who, while being perfectly decent at pass coverage, is devastating against the run game. He’s got the natural size and athletic ability to contest on the air, but it’s Haritz’s nose for the ground game that makes him a two-way star. Sophomores Alton Benjamin and Trevor Rose give up a little bit of size being under 6’ but really what you need at CB is ridiculous athletes who have the speed and reflexes to hang with receivers, and these boys are definitely that. The last name on the CB list is freshman Steven Sheehan from Timberline High School and he brings a little bit of everything. The five-star recruit out of Cardenao is solid in pass coverage, he can crowd the line and blitz, he can help run defense, it’s easy to see why he was a priority for the Swordsmen.

Safeties:
Phrez Marenial: Senior, 6’, 198lbs-Hybrid
Roy Hillcrest (Tears of the Revolution High School/CMT): Sophomore, 6’3, 205lbs – Run Stopper
Christian Kolar (Alexandria High School/CAD): Freshman, 6’2, 197lbs – Pass Coverage
Andre Terry (Alameda High School/CAD): Sophomore, 5’10, 194lbs – Speedster

After a fairly disappointing go at it in his underclass years, Perez Marenial put it together some in his junior year and now is set to be the #1 safety for the Swordsmen. Good speed, a pretty crazy vertical, and he showed a much better sense for knocking balls out of the air rather than tackling the receiver. Backing him up will be another Chromatik in the secondary, sophomore Roy Hillcrest. 6’3, 205lbs, my dude was born to play football. He’s a real in the box safety who really plays like another linebacker as opposed to a pure coverage option. Freshman Christian Kolar comes in from Alexandria High and looks set to be the third name on the depth chart. The former high school champ continues the BSU trend of big, tall boys at safety as he comes in at 6’2, 197lbs. CHristian is a pure pass coverage S, reading the play as it develops and covering the open space to deny passing options. Simple as. Finally, we got Andre Terry from Alameda High. 5’9, 190lbs, AT was made for speed and boy is he quick! The ultimate deep ‘oh fuck’ coverage option, he’s as fast as the quickest receivers and he’s got the mind to know where to be before he needs to be there.

Style Modifier: +5

As far as tactics are concerned, Scott Linhart is an extremely balls-out style coach deserving of a +5 modifier. The spread offense is utilized most often, prioritizing space and the open field for the skill position players. Linhart almost exclusively recruits mobile quarterbacks, as he expects QBs to make plays with their feet (either designed or on the fly). Running backs are more likely to be quicker, lither guys than big bruisers, but there's usually one that can pack a punch if necessary (often the fullback). Vertical passing plays are quite common, and it's rare for passes to go to the flat or right past the line of scrimmage. Sadeg State is known for aiming at tight ends often, but Cavsar leans on them heavily. Thankfully, they nearly always net a Top 5 TE prospect every time they go for one, so it's not much of a weakness. The receivers, as you might guess, are quick and agile, but perhaps falter when it comes to catching in deep traffic. The playbook is probably 65/35 pass/rush, with shotgun formations being a vast majority of what you'll see.

The Cavsar defense is not known for being bruisers, save for the D-line. You can say that the Cavsar defense or secondary is their biggest weak spot, but their defensive line is always extremely exceptional. Pretty much every starter on the D-line is a sack threat every game. The secondary can leave some things to be desired, but they're good enough to keep the passing game at bay to allow the D-line to really work their magic. Like Sadeg State and many Drawkian defenses, man defense is often the default and will be what to expect. If you can beat man coverage, you'll have a way easier time against Cavsar. They probably blitz a little less than SSU, but they will still pepper them in often. After all, the D-line usually keeps the pressure happening just on their normal scheme. The defense defaults to nickel coverage most often, but any formation with 4 D-linemen can be expected.

The CavU special teams are not renowned for a lot of trickeration, but you'll see something special every once in awhile. However, they are absolutely aggressive with the offense on 4th down, and will usually keep them on the field if it's under 3rd and 5. Also, the Gladiators go for two every time, and I mean every time, unless it's a late game situation where a PAT is specifically necessary to preserve or make a win. The punters and kickers don't get a whole lot of work, but the return game is something to fear as well. The blocking is very solid and the quick shifty returners can make a lot happen in the blink of an eye. The punters and kickers may not be the best in the collegiate scene due to their smaller workload, but they're by no means incompetent. They do err on the side of power over accuracy thanks to those long Drawkian legs.

Speaking of which, see this dispatch about Drawkian physiology. If you don't want to deal with that though feel free to just handwave or ignore it, it's fine by me.

Season 14 Champions: Staramara Tech High School (MVP: QB Amy Skylar)

The Preseason Top Fifteen

15. Tihon Elite Academy Fog Wall - Red Conference

Yes, they only won three games last season, but with Kimberly Decraene at the helm in her Sophomore season - she had her lumps last year - Arnau Bescós being a vertical threat Tight End, and Émillienne Rochette excelling both in coverage and off the edge, they have the potential to be one of the top teams of the Red Conference. Hendrik-Jan Dalvoorde is a slot receiver prospect with plenty of speed after the catch, and perhaps the piece that they need to take that next step.

14. City of Lorentine High School Wizards - White Conference

Barely missing out of the playoffs last season, Ariana Sadow leads the Wizards in the White Conference. Sadow is a pocket passer with plenty of arm strength; the loss of Pieter Diovett is a rough one, but Jude MacQuillan will add a rushing dimension to the team that they didn't have before. Vince Martin is a ball hawk, and Nero Johnston is a tackling machine. Surviving in the White Conference won't be easy, but they shouldn't be in the relegation zone at least.

13. Staramara Athletics Academy Rangers - Red Conference

A team led by defense will continue to play that way. Fientje van Nuil adds to Logan Vandenbroucke, giving them two vaunted rushers off the edge; Juria Anastolli is a physical corner, and Katagiri Roka loves to lurk in front of the Slot Receiver/Tight End. Ryin Nakt is that dual-threat Quarterback that the team needs to lead on the offensive side of the ball. They'll play tough defense, run the ball a lot with Gorello and Nakt, and hope that's enough. Being in the Red Conference is good.

12. Franscesca Larriet-Cortes High School Martyrs - White Conference

Returning most of the best players, they did lose their Quarterback, which is why they're this far back. Mira Ekberg and Isaiah Simmons IV are definitely the type that can turn over the entire game, and Adeline Lindahl is one of the best guards at this level. They still haven't decided who their Quarterback is going to be, but regardless, the rest of the team is good enough to contend - but with the White Conference being so loaded, it'll be tough sledding.

11. East Shantarr High School Order - Red Conference

Ryo Hikari will have this team ready to go - Bénédicte Spanghero is a true running Quarterback, with Carson Becker being the lightning to his thunder. King Jairon patrols the middle of the defensive backfield. Venusto Carlone is a burner at the x-position, Vlolaine Lecocq plugs up the middle, and Nalin Mowales is a rangy corner. It's Hikari that puts this team on the map - he's one of the best Head Coaches at the High School level.

10. Vitoron School of Charge Robots - White Conference

Stepping in to take the Robots' Quarterback slot is Eyla Grotten, an ambidextrous rocket arm; the Robots continue to have the deepest Wide Receiver room in the country, with Filippo, Lura, and Aquila all being Juniors. Vivi Eliasen is their best player on the defensive side, but will have to do a lot. If Eyla turns out to be at the average level of the Robots Quarterbacks of the past, they'll be fine.

9. West Omnio High School Spectral Monks - Green Conference

Is this the best Spectral Monks squad there has been in a while? Yes. Adara Cueva can do it all - throw and run - and with Carmen Maria Juárez stepping in to be her first target, they can actually go all in on attack. Their best defensive assets are on the line, but it's the Monks' offensive line that sets them apart as contenders in the Chromatik High School Gridiron system.

8. Mt. Niar High School Anacondas - Black Conference

The Anacondas this low? Maas van der Voorde is a southpaw sniper who excels at intermediate range, with his best targets being Esther Pott and Miyamoto Oniji; Honorine Bonhomme and Suda Tsurayaki are on the defensive side, Bonhomme having the ball skills necessary to disrupt the opposition. There aren't as many stars in the lineup, but the pedigree of the Anacondas mean that they're definitely still worth following.

7. Urrhed High School Sand Vipers - Black Conference

Another school that didn't have to do a lot of changing, Izajasz Piekarski enters his Sophomore season after establishing himself as a clutch Quarterback on third downs. Shinsato Katsu can run on any down, especially with Raymond Stavhn paving the way; Jet Donnovan is the ball hawk on the other end, and Anais Sheolen's entrance gives them a mop-up tackler that can contribute on any play. They'll go as far as Piekarski carries them.

6. Capital District Academy Regiment - White Conference

Kingsley Dillard's Senior year - meaning the time to cash in is now. 1-9 was the worst record that they'd had in a while, but that was mostly due to subpar play from the line, not because of Dillard. Dillard is a hot and cold Quarterback who can be rather streaky; Mark Shaefer will protect his blind side, Askel Welhaven is good from the backfield, and Kristina Weizenbaum is a well-rounded Tight End. Add in Carolien Groot Overmeene from the slot, and Dillard is the one that has to turn his game around. Do that, and the Regiment will be fine.

5. Cheonju Korean Institute Red Devils - White Conference

Kirsi-Marja Sibelius in her third season - how far can she carry them? Katriina Partanen is a quick player from the backfield, while Sisko Haavisto and Helena Salonen can both tear up the field. Sioila Lehto can block and then release. Their problem is on the defensive side - but they can probably outscore most anyone out there.

4. The Chromatik Institute Dread - White Conference

Emmanuel de Silva is a true dual threat entering his Junior year - running for over 1500 yards and throwing for over 2000 the last two seasons. Kim Thalberg is the best Center prospect in a while, while Lee Bo-Dan and Will Brockman are the duo tandem of Safeties on the other side of the field. Marshall Kean nails most any Field Goal, so they'll be solid there. De Silva has to carry them.

3. Staramara Tech High School Battle Angels - Black Conference

One of the best programs in the Chromatik High School Gridiron system, they will take a slight step back due to having to replace their Quarterback. Modrico Stalla steps in, but he won't be asked to do too much in his Freshman season - with such a crop of players behind him. Grayson Marsh is an every-down back, Lena Kassen and Neria Pinston are solid receivers, and the offensive line is solid. Throw in Willard Doha and Lidia Montemayer on the defensive side, and if it wasn't for having to replace Amy Skylar at Quarterback, they'd be ranked even higher.

2. Myana Northwestern High School Blue and White - Black Conference

You can't keep them down for long. Kacper Grenda is ready to take that next step, Alfonso Valverde gives Freya Odinsdóttir vibes, and the new crop of Freshmen are very bright. Jaylen Briar runs like he is shot from a cannon, Francine Brillard ruhs very crisp routes for a Freshman Receiver, and Earnest Ganes is good in run support or in pass coverage. They are who they are for a reason, and won't go away anytime soon.

1. Lanar High School Rhinos - Black Conference

Having finished in second place last season, Kenneth Jordean-Johnson III and the Rhinos are back. They'll have to break in a new Running Back, but there is no denying the offensive line talent that they have, as well as the defensive core. If the new Running Back is even half as good as Marik was last season, they'll be back in the National Title picture.

You never know how much you need your QB until he's gone

It's hard to believe we're already entering season 5 of UCP in NSCF competition, and it's even harder to believe that Jerry Atkinson, the man who has been leading this team all four years to a collective bowl win, three playoff appearances, one conference title, and one playoff win, is finally gone from the UCP pocket. Unlike most of his peers who stayed for a 5th year in the hopes of convincing him to stay as well, Atkinson leaves the Jays as a school legend, but the bigger question is who's filling his big shoes.

QB is about the worst spot to have to replace after having a good predecessor, which is why with a rising Mineral conference, UC-Prairie has to find the answer fast. For the Jays, they're looking no further than a new, fresh Dhemixian to catch snaps this year. Meet Larry Cunningham. A prevalent improviser, Cunningham was recruited by Craig Kelly because of his missile defense system attached to his right shoulder, but he's gonna have to learn to stop scrambling outside of the opposing 20 fast. Good news: Cunningham's got the peak years of Kabe Heaton anywhere and everywhere down the field, meaning the passing heavy offense might actually work out with his arm. Bad news: he's never taken a snap inside of the Brig under any pressure whatsoever, meaning he has to learn very quickly how to handle what most of the early Jays never felt.

Cunningham does have an advantage over Atkinson though: the state of the conference he's starting in. Atkinson had to contend with the peak years of GCU, TSU, UCBP, Alexandroupolis, and Constantinople, while Cunningham inherits a dominant team in the conference who's only real challengers appear to be the Nova Calanians in Nowa Kalanianska and UNSJJ. As previously mentioned, the Nova Calanians pack the biggest punch in the conference, with UNSJJ looking to make some noise this time. Elysium City from EAG are newcomers, but as Niakursk showed last cycle, that's dangerous in this business to UCP. Moving over to the Heartland, the TJUN-ians are busy trying to return to glory as TSU and GCU steadily improve, while UCBP's absence leaves Prince Pieter's and St. Paulus to fill in as newbies instead of the normal TJUN-ian competition.

Moving over to the OOC, the Blue Jays actually have an on-paper stacked slate but an in-reality washed slate. Sadeg State to complete the first Dhem-Drawk in NSCF at The Brig is a death sentence for the Skyhawks, while at CHU gives the UC-Prairie squad a chance to meet the Fluffalo and finally get it done in the OOC shchedule. Rounding out the OOC, the Jays return to BYU for the fifth edition of the S.P.I.T. Bowl, where they look to make the playoffs a fourth consecutive season and make some noise again.

Week 1 at home against UNSJJ will be a great test, not only for Larry Cunningham, but also for their opponents, to see how strong the Toucans are this season and if they're a threat down the road. If Kelly and Cunningham can communicate better, and gain that chemistry, the trust is built to go a long way into the playoffs. We'll just have to see what happens and how Cunningham can deal with Craig Kelly's antics.

Derek Boss and Chloe Dalla sat at the edge of the designated football player table, poring over their notes, busy being the only two student-athletes on campus that knew about the first part of that compound word. Their movements were practiced, focused, fingers tracing over one line in their textbooks as they haphazardly stabbed at small bites of food to wolf down. In Derek’s case, occasionally stretching to his full (sitting) height to account for the unreasonably low table.

The bustle of the cafeteria around them? Not much of a concern, basically white noise at this point. They may be academically inclined, but they weren't going to be the nerds who hide from their teammates during lunch.

But Derek's ears pricked when the conversation stopped. His finger stopped moving and he leaned back, blinking as his flow state was completely broken, and looked over to Philbert Aitken, well, down a little really. They didn't exactly design these tables to accommodate all seven foot five of him. "Everything alright?" Philbert didn't answer, and Derek searched his eyes for an answer until he realized that Philbert was chewing on a concerning portion of steak. No luck there, so he looked to Chloe, then caught the reason for the sudden stoppage of play in the corner of his eye.

He turned around to see, standing at eye level, something he could only call perfection.

Perfection waved to him with a wide smile, and Derek felt a hand reach over to lift his jaw shut. He took a mental note to thank Chloe for the assist later, swallowed his food, and finally pulled up from three point range. "Can I help you?"

"Yeah!" This perfect creature he was talking to answered, extending a hand in greeting. Her eyes got a little wide when his grip completely swallowed hand, but she kept her composure, if a little flushed, "I'm Giovanna, with Alpha Phi Pi." He started to introduce himself, but she quickly cut him off, "I know who you are, Derek Boss! Yeah, hi!"

"Okay," he nodded, and pulled his hand back, trying to figure out what exactly was happening, and only now noticing that it wasn't just his table that was silent - from his point of view, basically everyone in their immediate vicinity was watching. Especially the men who were outside of her direct line of sight.

"So our first winter formal is coming up," she pulled a card-sized flier out of her bag and handed it to him, "And I-"

"It's August," He didn't take it yet, waving a hand in the air, "What do you mean winter fo- ow!" Derek grimaced and looked across the table at Choe Dalla, who was looking at him like he was some sort of ignoramus, or at least whatever the opposite of an elephant was, and grumbled a bit at the pain in his shin, then looked back at Giovanna, waiting patiently with her flier.

Then he got it. “Oh, first winter. It’s cold,” he adjusted his Buffalo-logo ballcap.

"I was really hoping you'd go with me? Sorry I know this is a little out of the blue."

"I'd love to!" He said a little too fast, "As long as I can work it in with my practice schedule and all that, you know."

Giovanna clapped her hands together and grinned, "That's great! Thank you so much, we'll have so much fun!"

"Should I get your number, or..."

"Oh I follow you on FotoGrid," she said, "Just search for Giovanna Lalas Berhalter and message me there! I should pop up! I won't keep you, I can see you're busy, thank you so much!" She turned around and waved over her shoulder, all the assembled students who'd been staring getting an extra half second to look away and avoid being caught, and Derek couldn't stop smiling as he pulled out his phone.

"Man, I love being an athlete," he muttered, and punched her name into his follower list. And then his jaw dropped for a second time when he hit her profile, "I'm sorry she has how many followers!? Jesus!"

"Bennie!" Giovanna practically squealed once she reached her sorority sister across the dining hall, "You'll never guess what just happened! This is gr...oh, your brother's eating with us again?"

Bennie was leaning on one hand, sipping her pink lemonade through a straw with glossy eyes. She shot a thumbs up, and her brother looked up from his grilled cheese sandwich - which he'd expertly stacked chicken tenders onto. He bit his lips and raised his eyebrows a couple times in what Giovanna was sure was supposed to be a suggestive gesture, and she sat down, her posture immedietely closing up as she suppressed a shudder.

"I'm sure you're intimidated by my genius Gio," he said with an even more nasally voice than before, but his face fell when he realized it himself. He held up a finger, and Giovanna recoiled, turning her head away and squeezing her eyes shut when the act raised his arm, exposing pitstains that had grown into rib stains and unleashing a more intense odor than the one that hung around him at all times.

That finger dug into his nose for a moment, and he grunted in exertion trying to dig in to get it, then huffed, pulled his finger out, and grabbed a napkin, resigned to blow his nose. The pop of released pressure and practical trumpet made her hide her face, more concerned with her reputation than his hygeine for a second, and Gloyd Manniweather leaned back in his chair, examining his handiwork before turning the napkin around to show it to her.

Giovanna wretched at the sight, shoving her food away from her when she witnessed that biological horror, and Gloyd chuckled, "Nothing worth aquiring is attained with ease," he said, folding the napkin over itself twice and slipping it into his back pocket, "And my body wasn't going to surrender that wonder without a fight, clearly." He took another bite out of his chicken tenders with the hand that had been in his nose just moments prior, and looked down at her tray.

He pointed, again with that finger, licked at the cheese stuck around his patchy beard. "Are you gonna eat that?"

Giovanna just waved her hand, and he accepted that as a concession. "A strong tribute. Perhaps not refined enough for my taste but it shall suffice. Now, Gio," he kept prodding at her with that made up name, "I wanted to tell you," he picked at her salad a couple times, then pointed over at Derek Boss across the room, and this time when his arm came up, she noticed the three layers of stains under his armpits. The current, saturated one of course, but around it were rings of varying shades of discoloration, as if he had good days and bad days. "Derek, he puts on a good show. And I wanted to play this close to the vest until I was sure, but," he looked to the left, and Geo's eyes went to Bennie, praying for a savior, butt here was nothing in her best friend's eyes. There was, however, crusted wax in Gloyd's ears.

He looked to the right, leaning back to see around his silent sister, smirked before leaning across the table. Giovanna leaned back, even scooted her chair back, and Gloyd dropped his bomb.

"Derek isn't human. He's an alien, from another world. You're putting yourself in danger going around him."

Giovanna still hadn't spoken since seeing Gloyd, hand over her face to try and muffle the pungent, ever present cloud around him, but now her eyes narrowed, "Uh, yeah, that's like most of the thing with him?"

"Wait, you know?" Gloyd grinned and smacked the table, leaving visible grease-prints where his hand had been, "Giovanna Lalas Berhalter, your beauty may be matched only by your wit! This is good! Great even! And now that that's settled, I wanted to a-"

"Oh my word," she stood up, checked her watch (which she was not wearing) and pulled her purse up on her shoulder, waving to the two of them, "I'm so so-no, uh, apologetic!" She slowly backpedaled, "I have a place that I need to be sometime today, so I've got to go, but this has been great!"

"Wait, Giovanna!" Gloyd stood up, and did a waddle as he started going around the table, "I'll go with you, here," he gritted his teeth and dug between his belly and hoodie, starting to pull off the outermost layer, "I wouldn't want you catching a chill, either, you can, eh!" He strained, his shirt riding up and exposing his matted body hair, "You can wear my hoodie!"

She didn't even respond, taking the opening while his eyes were covered by his hoodie to speedwalk out the door, and Gloyd's yellow-orange-toothed grin fell to despair as he collapsed back into his seat when she wasnt there.

"Benadet, I don't understand!" He fell to the table, leaning on his arms, shirt completely soaked in his sweat and sticking to his bloated frame. "I tried this time! I was gonna ask her!"

"When I told you to ask someone to go out with you, I didn't mean the baddest bitch in the city," Benadet droned, managing to hype up her sorority sister even in her dead-to-the-world state.

"But I ensured my hygeine was on point today, just for this!" His body shuddered and his voice grew high pitched, and now he sat back, face red and arms crossed, "I even took three walks this morning to ensure the sun cleaned off any odor-causing bacteria that may have taken root in my clothes. Hell, I changed my outfit three days a go just in case! Between that and my mental fortitude...I'd normally be willing to wait for four years for her to grow on me, but with Derek around, I can't risk the aliens enacting their master plan and not being able to protect her."

"Gloyd," Bennie started, "She's not going out with you."

"Of course she is."

Bennie finally looked up at his shift in tonality, head tilted, "What do you mean, of course she is?"

"Your formal is coming up, right?" He steepled his fingers together and locked eyes with his sister, a grin forming - causing her to recoil at the wave of his noxious breath, "That'd be perfect, she'll have to hang out with me for hours, she'll be entranced by my superior wit, by my unmatched intellectual prowess, impressed by my discovery of the extraterrestrial plot! And you!" He pointed to Benadet, "You owe me!"

Finally, color flooded back into her cheeks as she realized what he was insinuating, what would happen if she couldn't pull this off, and what it would do to their friendship, her standing within Alpha Phi Pi if she could pull it off.

"Gloyd! You wouldn't!"

"I would," he sneered. "You get her to go with me, or I'll tell Mom and Dad! Your deepest, darkest secret! Bye bye sorority dues, bye bye tuition! Bye bye being the spoiled younger sibling," he stood up, swallowing the last - entire - chicken tender at once as he did, "You've always been envious of my intellect, Benadet. Don't make me weaponize it against you."
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<

CW for obvious reasons: War, death, violence.

Somewhere over the ocean

Adrian Hill awoke with a start.

He was sweating, which was normal when he awoke from the dreams he was having; what was not normal was how much he was sweating despite being topless in an environment where the air conditioning was presumably at a maximum. In his first-class cabin — and this plane had been specially retrofitted to allow for up to 160 first-class cabins, all for the benefit of the travelling team — he sat, breathing heavily, looking for a glass of water.

There wasn't one. His fingers scrabbled first for a shirt; then he contemplated pressing the 'call attendant' button, but then demurred, not wanting to trouble to stewardesses too much. He switched on the cabin lights at its dimmest setting, before grasping around for safety; but evidently him doing so was enough to summon a stewardess to his cabin.

"Can I help you, Mr. Hill?"

"Yeah, uhm...if it's not too much trouble, a glass of water, please."

"Certainly."

He managed to wrestle the shirt onto him, before standing up; his head easily peeked over the short walls that separated his cabin from everyone else's. He saw the stewardess disappear into the galley, presumably with his water; sighing, he sat back down on the bed and opened a window. The wide black expanse of the sea loomed under him, and Adrian felt slightly uneasy; but this was probably natural for someone who was on a plane for only the second time in his life.

Everyone else was sleeping, presumably fitfully; there had barely been time for a short, post-match celebratory meal and prayer before the team from the University of Raukieff departed Valanora almost too quickly. For a team that had just beaten multiple-time NSCF champions and was probably the most fearsome team in the entire tournament, it had been a stunning victory; but the celebrations had been muted. The chaplain who'd accompanied them had warned them against too much celebration, after all.

The glass of water arrived, and Adrian smiled sheepishly at the flight attendant, almost sorry for disturbing her; but she smiled, knowingly, and assured him it was alright. He sipped slowly as he tried to forget the dream from his mind; but if he knew anything about how his mind worked, he would probably be up for the next few hours. After all, the visions of the Southern Front had continually been reoccurring in his nightmares; so much so that he felt he was on the verge of experiencing a crisis of faith about it.

It was meant to just be a simple summer attachment on the Front; a chance for him, a Military Studies student, to get some frontline experience before actually being commissioned in the Holy Army. But what he'd seen had shattered his expectations of a glorious war, one fought with respect for the enemy; stories of civilians reverting to the Faith after seeing the light had either been grossly exaggerated or extremely rare. More often than not the population of a settlement had been cleansed and thrown in a ditch somewhere, with just the simplest of rites accorded to them by the Missionary Corps; more often than not, when he attended meetings in the field, they were conducted in the least-burnt out husks of homes that used to belong to somebody.

Even if they were heathens, they were still somebody.

Another sip. His heart was still pumping quickly, despite everything; he'd never seen actual combat or come under fire in his two-month attachment, and had really been a glorified secretary slash intern with his 2LT rank; but the memories still stuck with him. The closest he came was when he was taken to see one of the mass graves that the Holy Army had hastily dug for the inhabitants of some recently-cleansed village. That was probably where the memories came from.

And yet there was still the palpable sense of anger, of righteous vengeance, he felt whenever he saw stories of the Missionary Corps murders; the story of how two missionaries had been tortured, crucified and then burnt at the stake upside down had swept across the city and country. What had been falling support for the war had suddenly been drummed up again; mass demonstrations in support of "our brave boys on the Front" had become an almost weekly experience.

Another sip.

The point of entering this tournament, the team had been told, was to prove that New Tamarind was a nation that could stand strong amongst foreign countries; and with their first win they had almost certainly made their mark on that front. The country had been subject to almost constant criticism from abroad — mostly from Tumbra, that annoying secular foreign state whom the first Pilgrims had left in the wake of the fall of the Empire in 1852 — and the Diet of Kallipolis had seen fit to try and sportswash that reputation. They hadn't been told that officially, of course, but Alastair Heo, the sole International Relations undergraduate on the squad, had quietly told them what sportswashing was, and how they were all playing a part in it.

And yet all of them had chosen to take part. The glory of representing the nation outweighed any concerns about 'sportswashing' — and even Heo signed on happily. Adrian found himself probably being the most reluctant to; the images of the Southern Front still weighing on his mind.

Why, then, was he here? To win? To not be seen as an outcast, immediately labelled as suspicious for not joining when the other 52 immediately jumped on the chance to go overseas? There was probably no answer; he had long forgotten what he felt when he was thinking when he signed his commitment to Raukieff for the tournament.

He sighed as he lay back down on the bed, the sounds of the jet engine whirring in his ears. It was going to be a long flight back.

HERE COMES THE IRISH!

Université du Saguenay : A Factfile.

Motto: 'Vita Dulcedo Spes'
Established: 1792
Type: Public research university

President:
Principal:
Academic Staff: 3,000
Students: 18,769
Undergraduates: 12,795
Postgraduates: 5,974

As for the institution itself, Université du Saguenay (official known as Université du Saguenay à South Bend) is considered one of the best universities in Quebec, in particular for its undergraduate education. While excellent across the board, Saguenay is in particular renowned for its world-renowned Cavani School of Business, Lawrence A. Gong School of Architecture, and humanities programs. The university is also renowned for the need-blind admissions policy, as well as its ability to meet 100% of a student’s demonstrated financial need- something that only 5 Québécois institutions can proudly say so.

The university's unique culture, that promotes both the scientific knowledge and religious education, results in the school and its alumni network (only rivalled by St. Croix and Farrer) having close ties to the Québécois elite, in both Saguenay province and those in Montreal the economic capital and Quebec City the artistic and administrative capital of Québec. The Sagueneen elite of both Catholic and Buddhist denominations, seeing the need of a classical institution in Saguenay without having to travel to Québec City, built UdS in considered the capital of Quebecois traditional culture and folk traditions in 1792. Since then, Université du Saguenay has been a centre of Quebecois Religious Thought and also the Quebecois Thought. Atlantian Oceania is a region notable for its centrist political scene with penchant for hereditary power, and Quebec is among them, for its leftist leaning is partly contradicted by long history of purging republicanism - with the most recent purge happening just eight years ago (2034). This thought has partly influenced the Fighting Irish to stand out, as UdS and the Saguenay province are considered the baton of Classical Quebecois Conservatism.

Style of Play: Spread offence / 4-3 Defence

C.C. Youngblood is off to the QFL after winning two Tiger Bowls in what was a fairly memorable era for the the Fighting Irish, as the Saint John Steelers would successfully bring him back to the city where he had led Yongma College, Saguenay's intra-denominational rival, a decade of success before the Saguenay job. Saguenay did not hesitate from making a move right after, promoting longtime offensive coordinator Sara Lee Hampton to the head coach position twelve hours after his announcement at the end of Saguenay's 2061 QIS season, and the life went on.

A year and half would pass between then, with Saguenay finishing with a New Year Six bowl win and the run to the Tiger Bowl final where they would come up short in a defensive collapse against LNU. But the promise is there in this squad regardless, with a gunslinger quarterback in Raul Sebastien Santos, a powerful receiving corps including all-Queebcois Lucan Moddejonge and QIS freshman of the year Kieran Atkinson-McNair and an extremely aggressive defence led by nose tackle Wilhelm Cygnus and safety Leon-Andre Balytska. It remains to be seen whether this squad can make a difference in the NSCF, of course, but the promises are there and at least they will be exciting to watch.

The Introduction

LLEYAMANA

2. The First Game

First start. On the road, at Cavsar University, of all places. Facing the Drawkians, who tend to be much taller and physically imposing, nobody would've been shocked if Jair Lleyamana had been nervous.

Instead, the new Lava Quarterback was bouncing off the wall, excited to head out there. "We've been preparing all offseason for this," he said to the whole team beforehand, "We just go out there and smack them in the mouth, and see if they can handle it."

Staramara Tech won the coin toss, and elected to receive. On the very first play of the Lleyamana career, the Lava ran Quarterback power. With Bugoli in front of him and Rheese pulling out to go even beyond that, he pranced through the big hole for fifteen yards. This would set the tone for the rest of the game as the Lava ran all over the Gladiators for a 34-3 victory.

Staramara Tech would run 38 times for 279 yards and four touchdowns - with Lleyamana getting 101 of those yards and Alexander Dokken had 112 as the Lava had three runners with more than fifty yards. He went four of six for 72 yards through the air, Laak Gyles having three of those catches - but afterwards, Laak didn't really care.

"This is a fun way to play," he commented afterwards, "I like going out there to block, and when they need me to catch deep shots off of play-action, you know I'm good for it."

On more than 60% of the runs, Lleyamana was tasked with deciding whether he was getting the ball or handing it off to one of the other backs. He made the right choice most of the time - as only two runs were stopped behind the line of scrimmage. The Offensive Line made it easy for them as they leaned into the defense and made it apparent that they couldn't stop the Lava, no matter what they tried.

"A brilliant win to start the campaign," stated Head Coach Laverna Getz afterwards, "The team has been working so hard to make sure that we are ready to go, and we put together a great first step today. There is a lot that we haven't even approached, but this is the brand of football that we plan on playing, and as long as we can keep revealing the layers that we have ready, the opponents won't know what we have prepared for them."

Having run in two of the touchdowns for himself - a spectacular debut - Lleyamana was very quick to turn things around to his teammates when it came to the credit.

"I can't do any of what I'm supposed to if we can't get the blocking scheme right," he explained, "Especially not in my first collegiate start. We had a game plan, we made it work, and we have a long ways to go."

Staramara Tech heads to Sadeg State next before hosting Mountain District in Lleyaman's first home game of his career.

It was the best day, the best way that he could've wished for.

NSCF-33: St. Croix athletics department denies a massive speculation, defends Bleu et Blanc coach Galstian over his girlfriend

Diane Gallant

JOONGYEONG, JOONGYEONG -- The saga continues to grow, but for how long?

St. Croix head football coach Theodore Galstian said that he had discussed the ongoing saga involving him and his girlfriend of eight months, Therese Maheux, with his team, but remains adamant that there's no 'public concern' to be made over the nature of their relationship.

'All's professional and good over here, that's correct,' Galstian said in a NSCF preseason interview set at the NSCF House in Joongyeong, about fifteen minute drive away from the historic St. Croix campus and the on site stadium, 86,430-seater Stade St. Croix. 'What I do with my lady ain't bothering nobody, and it involves the matters of both passion and consummation that we could agree are important to all of us.'

This comes as the relationship between Galstian, 55, and Maheux, 23, have brought out additional controversies on the nation's capital since his a highly-publicised national hiring process that eventually secured the return of Galstian. A longtime head coach of Bonneville State University Broncos, Galstian's return to the institution seemed to be a normal procedure, with Galstian having long history to the institution dating back to his Offensive Coordinator days under former St. Croix and current Northern Moravica coach, Hannah McKendry Kabuye.

What St. Croix administration, especially Athletic Director Dr. Hong Maeng-Woong did not expect, however, was the level of controversy that would come with him and his new partner. The nature of relationship between Galstian and the 23-year-old alumna of the University of Southern Manitoba had been well known among Bonneville State and SAL-12 Conference fans, but the nature of their relationship, especially in the first three months of the job taking over from mostly-unremarkable Kirby Wright, was anything but to the expectations of Bleu et Blanc's fans.

Maheux's involvement in redefining Galstian's brand as Bleu et Blanc coach, the position he had resigned from both BSU and the Quebec and Shingoryeo national team for, has been quite explosive in nature. While the list of events were quite long, extensive and ceremonious to the point where l'Instagramme and Twi.tur threads could be made out of them, the latest event was most egregarious.

Just two weeks ago, Maheux participated alongside 50 male and 30 female strippers n the Mission Jimpossible night for the Double B NIL fund. Reports of Galstian's attendance were confirmed through an open guest list, as well as l'Instagramme and Xenapchat stories that have crosschecked the evidence.

Since then, several reports have emerged that Maheux was banned from St. Croix athletic facilities, including all its footballing facilities. A glaring exception is there in Stade St. Croix, the historic home venue of the Bleu et Blanc, is not one of them as the university owned and operated under the university administration and Joongyeong Voyageurs, and not the athletic department.

The athletic department, however, insisted this was not the case.

'There has been no nothing about Ms. Maheux's access to the St. Croix facilities,' said Dr. Hong, who had personally advocated for Galstian's return. 'As long as she has secured the right permit to access our facilities, whether it be on our football program or the athletics department, this strictly remains a personal matter and not an institutional one. End of story.'

Hong maintained similar stance when it comes to Galstian's behaviour, citing him as a man of integrity. 'There's no question as to what we should expect from him. Everybody gets treated the same way here. Fortunately, he's met every line of expectations that we'd expect from our athletics department coaching staff,' he said.

Galstian, who sporadically posts on l'Instagramme and has mostly retired his twit.tur account following his eventful divorce from his former wife and St. Croix alumna Dana Dunleavy Woo, said this has been discussed.

'I have talked to the players that nothing will stop us from getting to that fucking finish line,' Galstian said. 'Girlfriends, boyfriends and wives are off limits here in our locker room, unless they commit a crime and go to jail, and we remain civil about how we address our coaches, our players and our equals.'

The former Grim Reapers' coach, who had come to the Tiger Bowl championships game twice with Bonneville State and also made a semifinal and a quarterfinal in World Bowl competition with Quebec and Shingoryeo, did not comment much about his decision to resign from the latter. He, instead, focused more on his future with the program.

'It was the best possible opportunity and timing for both of us to part ways, no doubt,' he said. 'I'm more than sure that by doing this, the Reapers will be able to take off to the next level while my attention remains prestine, precise and pfocused around the greatest football program in the country.'

As for the Bleu et Blanc football team, their start to the biannual NSCF competition has gone every bit well with the 37–3 victory over Lakewood Plains University of Natkr at Stade St. Croix. Running back Diane McKay finished the day with 213 yards and 3 TDs in only 12 rushes while the defensive front had relatively little trouble with nose tackle Claude Darrieux-Bbumba leading the way for a 8-sack day with a 2 sack, 5 tackle for loss performance of his own.

An honourable mention went to punter Jean-Claude Choo-Arcand, as the sophomore registered a 68 yard punt that had punted LPU at their 2 yard line. It would pave the way for a 2 point safety the following play, recorded by senior linebacker Etienne Mutombo on the 1:23 mark of second half.

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer loses against Boreal rivals

Dhemixia - Who will win boreal division? No one knows, but it's between three teams, and two of them - Columbus-Prairie and Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer - played each other at " The Brig " in Dhemixia. The game was tight but Columbus-Prairie finally secured their 32-31 win in the final minute of the game. Columbus-Prairie attacked early in the 1st quarter when Larry Cunningham showed up his passing skills by throwing a 21 yards pass to Kabe Heaton into the endzone for a touchdown. The Toucans tied the game midway in the quarter when Charlotte Ponton threw a short pass to Hai Rong Dong who catches the ball at the 9 yards line and runs to the endzone for the touchdown. The score after 1 quarter was 7-7. Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-mer took the lead early in the 2nd quarter with a 7 yards touchdown pass from Charlotte Ponton to Nicolas Poulette. The game was tied again when Columbus-Prairie's running back Darius Haliburton runs into the endzone for 4 yards. Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer followed with a 6 yards rushing touchdown by Alex Laviolette but Columbus-Prairie made a 51 yards field goal within the two minutes warning and the score at halftime was 21-17 Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-mer.

The Toucans started off with the ball in the 3rd quarter and made a 33 yards field goal. Midway in the 3rd quarter, Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer increased their lead when Charlotte Ponton passed to Mia McDuffie into the endzone for 18 yards. Once again, Columbus-Prairie couldn't score on their next drive and had to punt. Aaron Gustafsson punts the ball and it's downed at the 2 yards line in Toucans territory. On a 3rd and 9, Charlotte Ponton was sacked into her own endzone by Cameron Chambers and it's a safety for Columbus-Prairie. The score after 3 quarters was 31-19 Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer. Early in the 4th quarter, Larry Cunningham passed into the enzdone to Michael Wallace for a 14 yards touchdown. Columbus-Prairie took the lead late in the 4th quarter on a 25 yards touchdown pass from Larry Cunningham to Kabe Heaton. It was 32-31 before the extra point and the Blue jays decided to go for two to take a 3 points lead, however, Larry Cunningham's pass on the 2 points conversion was broken up by Alexis Vadeboncoeur. Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer had the ball late in the 4th quarter and with 1 second remaining, they tried a 58 yards field goal but the kick wasn't good and Columbus-Prairie won 32-31.

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer will receive Elysium City on week 2. Jérémie Gobeil have a foot injury and will be out.

Brooklyn Beck (S5:E2)

Postby Drawkland » Sun May 18, 2025 5:58 pm

"The New Target"

Brooklyn Beck expected the first DOCA training camp under the Trace Hayes regime to be pure chaos. The most tenured Skyhawk left on the coaching staff was the strength and conditioning coach Thad Hancock. Everybody else was new to the program. There were a couple major junior transfers getting acclimated, and Sadeg State rarely had transfers coming in. Even crazier, all the new staff and players had been on campus for less than a month before the first day of camp.

In an attempt to smooth the transition, the new coaching staff invited the upperclassmen for a meeting on campus a week before training camp was set to begin. As most upperclassmen had apartments or houses somewhere in Sadeg, a large contingent of seniors and juniors were able to attend, Brooklyn included. The air in the training center auditorium was filled with anticipation and some trepidation. Hayes, Halifax, and Hunt stood at the front of the room and delivered short speeches about their mindset for the game and goals for the program.

“Sadeg State football hasn’t been a force to be feared since you were all in high school,” Trace Hayes said at one point. “We don’t just intend to return State to those days, we will return to those days, and you will be leading that charge.”

All in all, it went a long way to put the worried nerves at ease for the Skyhawk upperclassmen. There were still plenty of questions about how everything would actually go once the team actually got onto the field, but at least the new staff felt genuinely excited and determined to turn the program back around. Even though the head coach and main coordinators hadn’t met each other before they’d arrived on campus a week prior, they seemed to have a certain chemistry and cohesion already. One defensive senior nicknamed them “The H-team” due to their last names all starting with H, and that caught on quickly.

Brooklyn was unsurprisingly summoned for a meeting with Hayes and Halifax after the main event. She arrived at the office which used to be Manlio’s, unsure if the room was still half-decorated or if Hayes simply didn’t have as much crap to adorn the room with. She expected to see Hayes lounging behind the desk as Manlio always did, but instead he was sitting at the round table in the front of the room alongside Halifax.

“Ah, Ms. Beck!” Hayes rose from his chair immediately to shake Brooklyn’s hand. “It’s good to finally meet you. We’re glad you were able to make it today.”

“It’s no problem at all,” Brooklyn replied automatically. She gestured vaguely with her thumb. “I just live a few blocks off campus anyway.”

“Of course.” Hayes turned to his offensive coordinator, Jack Halifax, who was standing from his chair.

“Nice to meet you as well.” Halifax grinned as he shook Brooklyn’s hand, looking up at her as he did it. In her experience with NSCF play and following her dad during the World Bowl, she’d gotten used to interacting with humans. Even so, seeing a man that looked like a shorter high schooler sitting at the table was a little funny, especially considering his resumé.

“So …” Brooklyn said as she sat down at the round table across from Hayes and Halifax. “Is there something in particular you all wanted to discuss?”

“Well,” Hayes started, looking over at Halifax for a moment. “You’re the leader of this offense. For better or worse, you’re the only real option we have at quarterback. We wanted to touch base with you so we can put together the most effective offensive gameplan possible.”

“We’ve watched your film, of course,” Halifax added quickly. “There’s a lot that we like. But we also know that you and Manlio seemed to be … at odds towards the tail end of the season. I was hoping to get a better idea of whether you were succeeding because of Manlio’s play calling or in spite of it.”

“Jack will be handling offensive play calling duties, at least for this first DOCA season,” Hayes clarified.

“Gotcha.” Brooklyn sat back in her chair, musing on the thought for a moment. “I’ll say that Manlio definitely wanted to give me chances in the mobile part of my game. I like running the read option, I did it all through high school. I’m not sure how much we’ll be able to do that this season, since Rolo is more of a pass-catching back and he’s the most tenured RB on the roster. But either way, I’m really comfortable with that. Obviously I like having my underneath routes to throw to. I think I do best scrambling when there’s deep patterns leaving the middle of the field empty. But as far as Manlio is concerned, I don’t think he ever made a conscious effort to call passing plays that benefitted me like that. Sorry, am I rambling too much?”

“No, this is good,” Halifax assured her, not looking up from his notebook. He’d been hastily scribbling notes as soon as Brooklyn started talking. He finished his scribble, and hearing no response from Brooklyn, looked up to meet her glance. “I’m not sure how familiar you are with my history - I was the head coach of the RFL Falcons for several years, where I worked with-”

“Sarai Gwenderyn,” Brooklyn finished the sentence with Halifax. She cracked a smirk. “I may have heard a thing or two about that.”

“Right.” Halifax grimaced. “No doubt you were cursing our names whenever we won the Winter Bowl.”

“Don’t be so sure.” Brooklyn leaned in, as if telling a secret. On second thought, that’s what she was literally doing. The only person she’d told this about was Spencer Harrelson back in high school. “I may be the only person on this planet that likes Gwenderyn. I mean, obviously I hated Felswyr State’s run of dominance against us, and I wouldn’t call myself a fan of the Iron Legion either. But seeing Gwenderyn, seeing a woman taking the football world by storm, that was a big inspiration for me. I’d never tell my dad this, but she’s half the reason I stuck with football in high school. If she could do it, surely I could.”

This confession earned raised eyebrows from both Hayes and Halifax, but the latter nodded and slowly broke into a smile. “That’s great news. I still have a lot of her favorite plays in my playbook, maybe I can see if any of those might interest you.”

“Let us be clear,” Hayes added. “We’re still in charge of how this offense is going to run. We’re not gonna let you have total autonomy out there. But ultimately, you’re the engine of this offense, so we’re hoping to put you in a place that will allow you to use all your talents and succeed.”

“I wouldn’t expect anything else,” Brooklyn said earnestly. After the debacle that was her last NSCF tournament with Manlio, she desperately wanted to avoid being seen as having too big of an ego to work with her coach. The last few months had made her hyper aware of her public reputation.

The conversation went on for another half hour as the coaches and Brooklyn discussed strategy, history, matchups with specific teams, and even a few minutes of random tangents. It was a more comfortable conversation than any she’d had with Brand Manlio. Towards the end of the conversation, Trace Hayes gave Brooklyn a very specific instruction.

“Make sure you talk to Jace Phoenix during training camp.” Hayes tilted his head in amusement. “He’s a bit of a character, but his talent is undeniable. There’s a reason I convinced him to move here when I did. I believe that if you develop proper chemistry, that connection could really do us all some good.”

“I’ve interacted with Jack Hoy hundreds of times,” Brooklyn laughed. “I think I can handle whatever this guy’s got.”

The earlier meeting with all the upperclassmen didn’t have a huge effect on Brooklyn, but she left Hayes’s office in much better spirits. There had always been a strange dynamic between her and Manlio, no doubt caused by the circumstances of her recruitment. Now that was in the past. Brooklyn could only hope the product hitting the field would be an improvement too.

Brooklyn dutifully followed her new head coach’s wishes on the first day of training camp. After the meetings and workouts in the morning, the team moved to the training center cafeteria for a provided lunch. The upperclassmen grouped themselves among their friends, while the novatim tried their best to band together. There were two upperclassmen who had nobody except each other: the Raikennax transfers Daniel Butler and Jace Phoenix. They had each other, but they sat at an otherwise unoccupied table in the dining hall.

Once Brooklyn had her tray of food, she surveyed the tables before she found her target. Butler and Phoenix were out on the edge of the room, so Brooklyn moved to that end. She considered asking politely to join them as she approached the table, but she thought twice. With the allegedly hotheaded Phoenix in play, the better move may be to assert dominance right off the bat. Sit without asking. She was QB1, after all.

“Good afternoon, fellas,” Brooklyn said as casually as possible once she’d sat down, slapping her tray on the table as she did so.

Daniel Butler immediately stood from his seat, taking his tray with him and leaving. Jace Phoenix stayed where he was, looking up at Brooklyn and raising a brow.

“What’s his problem?” Brooklyn asked as Daniel kept walking. She was put off by the sudden exit, but kept a poker face.

“He’s just grabbing seconds,” Jace explained, rolling his eyes. “Big boy like him needs a lot of calories to keep moving.”

“Seconds already?” Brooklyn asked as she prepared her first bite of lunch. “Most of the novatim haven’t even sat down yet.”

“One of his many talents. I’ve seen the guy inhale food like you wouldn’t believe.” Jace shoveled a forkful of mashed potatoes into his mouth, and looked at Brooklyn with an intrigued glance. He swallowed, then continued. “What are you doing here, hot stuff?”

Brooklyn narrowed her eyes but didn’t comment on the line. If he was going to play a game, she wasn’t going to show weakness early. “I just saw two new guys sitting by themselves at lunch, wanted to give you both a welcome. I know how intimidating it can be, showing up in a new environment like this. I figured you’d need a little help getting acclimated.” Though her words seemed innocent enough, she delivered them with a healthy dose of sarcasm.

“Oh, honey. I don’t need any help in that department.” Jace leaned forward. “Just wait. By week three I’ll have the offense hanging on my every word. Including you.”

“That’s why you’re 10 feet away from eating lunch in the hallway right now,” Brooklyn waved her hand in the direction of the door. “Forgive me for doubting you. And in case you’re not aware, this is my team. Good luck wrestling them away from me.”

“I’m sure they’ll follow you to the ends of the earth,” Jace scoffed after another sip of his electrolyte drink. “After all you’ve done to them. What is it now, one DOCA playoff appearance? One NSCF bowl game win? It’s no wonder Coach Hayes begged me to come here. You need all the help you can get.”

“What I needed was a coach with a head not surgically attached to his colon. If Hayes is even an ounce more competent than Manlio was, then we’ll succeed with or without you.”

“Not much any coach can do about a quarterback that chucks the ball into double coverage.”

“Uh huh.” Brooklyn tilted her head as Daniel returned to the table. “If you think I’m so bad, then why’d you even transfer here?”

“Easy. NSCF action. Can’t get that at Raikennax.” Jace chewed thoughtfully. “Oh yeah, that and the NIL money. It’s pretty nice out in Raikennax, but I hear they give that shit away like candy here. Didn’t you get a deal before you’d even taken a snap?”

“I started games after Chapman went down,” Brooklyn corrected. “But yeah, I got a deal before I was the full-time starter. Bought a car with it.”

“You mean before you chased Chapman out of town.” Jace chuckled. Brooklyn was going to respond derisively, but she didn’t get the chance.

“What kind of car?” Daniel asked innocently. It was the first time he’d spoken, and the interjection seemed to annoy Jace.

“Plexen B30. Type C.” Brooklyn answered, actually glad to steer the conversation elsewhere.

“Not bad. You do anything to it?” Daniel cut off a huge chunk of meat and shoved it down the hatch.

“Uh, not really.” Brooklyn shrugged. “I’m not really a car person. My buddy Julian got a coupe in high school that made a bunch of changes to, but every time he talked about that stuff it just sounded like TV static to me.”

“Julian?” Jace repeated. His head perked up slightly when he heard the name. “Would you be referring to Julian Gallagher?”

“Yes,” Brooklyn said after a moment’s hesitation. She looked back at Jace quizzically. “You know him?”

“I don’t know him. I know of him,” Jace clarified. “A friend of mine was high school teammates with one of the dudes in Cavsar’s receiver room. Poor bastard.”

“I see.” At least they had the correct opinion on Cavsar in general. Brooklyn paused as she finished a bite. “And what exactly do you know of him?”

“Well …” Jace gave Daniel a knowing look. “For starters, everybody knows he only got recruited at Cavsar because Scott Linhart wanted you on the team. Former teammate, former lover, surely that’d be enough to entice-”

“What was that?” Brooklyn interrupted. She put her fork down, crossing her arms indignantly. “We were never a thing. Not even close. Your informant must’ve gotten bad info.”

“Ah, my mistake.” Jace raised his hands innocently, but his mouth twisted into a shit-eating grin. “That explains why you got so heated just now, right?”

“That’s not how it works.” Brooklyn shot back, but she knew she’d made a mistake. The weird pet names right off the bat, the jab at her performance on the field, she’d let slide without issue. The insinuation about her and Julian’s relationship had gotten right under her skin before she could stop herself. Brooklyn cursed herself internally for dropping the advantage.

“Whatever you say, captain.” Jace seemed to back off, but he nodded as if confirming some unspoken thought. “Let me tell you, though, that I’m twice the man he is. I’m certain you won’t regret our connection.”

“I’m sure we’ll find out during route drills this week,” Brooklyn replied with a sickeningly sweet smile, hoping to defuse that line of conversation.

“Oh yeah, that’s what I meant.” Jace winked, then grabbed his cup. He left the table, heading back to the drink station to refill without another word.

Brooklyn didn’t think of a response in time and simply watched Jace go with an expression halfway between disgust and annoyance.

“Don’t worry, most people look like that after meeting him.” Daniel said, polishing off the last bite of his second helping. After wiping his mouth with a napkin, he extended his hand out to Brooklyn. “I’m Daniel, by the way. You can call me Dan.”

“Nice to meet you, Dan.” Brooklyn returned the shake, glad for a return to normalcy. “I just hope he’s good enough on the turf to justify … whatever that is.”

“He is.” Dan smiled warmly. “Trust me.”

Brooklyn hoped the offensive lineman was right.

LeBois, Alexandria Get NSCF 33 Campaigns Off To Victories; Read On For Details!

For the LeBois Santura University Broncos, the famous Battle of the B got off to the worst possible start as the Broncos could only watch helplessly as Bingham Young returned the opening kick off 103 yards for a touchdown. Brett Hannah stared in disbelief from the sideline as his senior season did not get off to the start he spent the off-season dreaming up for himself. 6-0…now 7-0 down to one of your biggest rivals? Definitely not ideal but the Broncos are the masters of their own fortune and they are desperate to finally make it to the college championship game. The only redeeming part of getting scored on that quickly to start the game is that BSU would get the ball back right away and have a chance to get things going their way. Unfortunately, things wouldn’t be quite that straightforward as the Utahn’s defense held firm to send the Broncos packing on a three and out and just like that, college football is back baby!

During the rest of the first half, we got to see perhaps more of the Broncos defense on the field than the coaches and players would’ve liked but we did see, looked elite. That front line with Jair Judge, Elias Olden, Mack King, and Priest Hunter is just about as good as it gets in college ball and they were ruthless last night. Three sacks in the first two drives set the tone for the night; sure, yeah that opening kickoff return was pretty cool, but that’s the last time you’re going to see the endzone. Despite constant pressure from the defense and junior Daniel Koo from Quebec coming oh so close to a diving interception, Brett Hannah and the offense had to wait until the second quarter to start firing up on all cylinders. First drive of the second half was awful, BYU’s defense stood strong to force a 3 and out before the Cardenaoan punt team took to the field, but then it was Jair Judge’s time to make an impact when he knocked the ball loose on a 2nd and 6 and just like that, the Broncos had banging field position and Brett Hannah made the Utahans pay at the first time of asking when he rifled a pass 31 yards through the secondary right to Denario Southward’s outstretched hands as LeBois opened their account for the season. BYU came close to returning fire as they easily marched down the field but the BSU D held firm on the goal line to force a field goal…..that they sent wide right to keep the score level at 7-7. Unfortunately, Brett Hannah couldn’t get much cooking after a strong start to the drive, so again the Broncos punting team came trooping onto the field. A big sack on first down pushed BYU back to their own 13 yard line, a miscommunication on the lateral handoff run play meant the ball bounced off the turf all the way back to the home team’s 4. Third down and the Broncos brought the fucking house in pressure, and it was no surprise when Mack King wrestled Bingham’s QB down the ground to force a safety, 7-9 now in the Broncos favor.

Not a bad first half, but certainly not the best for LeBois as arguably the most important season in program history got underway. Back to back Big-8 Champs, an elite defense and a high-scoring offense all underpinned by an exceptional group of seniors; there was equal senses of determination and desperation for BSU to finally reach the college championship game, and that journey started now. Even the most ardent of supporters, the ones with faces and chests painted blue and orange, would admit the odds of that coming to be were…not super high, but that wouldn’t stop them from believing in Cardenao’s most famous team. While nobody was privy to the halftime talk the Broncos got, you can bet the tone of it was ‘kick your own ass, get your helmet strapped on, and get in the damn game.” Whatever words were said, it was clear for all to see they had an impact on the players as they came out swinging.

Seriously, Brett Hannah immediately tried a 50 yard bomb to Andrew Legnfish off the kickoff, only for it to barely kiss the sophomore’s helmet as it traveled over his head. Fellow sophomore Wesley Mack recovered well for the team though when the 6’2 barrelchested running back ripped off a 22 yard run to put LeBois in enemy territory once again. Unfortunately, this is where the Broncos game plan took a turn for the worst. The play was developing beautifully, three slants with two receivers going left right, and one going against the flow, right to left. It was a staple of the Broncos offense since the days of Steve Valentine, and this iteration looked set to work perfectly. Linebackers were pulled away from their position, cornerbacks were a half second slow to match the cutting receivers and the safties were a half step too far upfield to react to the unfolding play. It was beautiful, tears to my eyes beautiful, to see as the middle of the field parted like the Strait of Cardenao and, in a second, we had a home run play. Enter B.J. McNutt, 5 star recruit from Timberline High in Cardenao. B.J. had a monster senior season, sack leader, forced fumble leader, All-Cardenaoan, team captian, it was easy to see why Alexandria and LeBois Universities were desperate to recruit this homegrown talent. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, *cough cough NIL cough* B.J. instead committed to none other than Bingham Young University. And now, with nine minutes to go in the third quarter, McNutt was ready to explode. He was going up against Jernard Bryant, and B.J. knew all he needed to do was use his size and arm length advantages to push through Jernard and he’d be in on the quarterback. As the play developed, Jernard found himself being pushed back by the BYU player, eventually tripping over his feet and loosing his grip, letting B.J. rip through the line towards Brett Hannah’s blissfully unaware backside and he smashed into the Broncos’s QB, sending him down brutally on his throwing shoulder and, just like that LeBois season was thrown into flux.

“Coach, great win for the Broncos today after a strong second half where they outscored BYU 27-3 en route to a 36-10 victory. What do you think the turning point was?”

“Well I’d say there was no ‘turning point’ as you call it because we were in control of the game for all 60 minutes. Look, the only lead BYU got was off a miraculous return of the opening kick off——and since I won the Battle of the B, I can admit that was pretty cool to see.

Look, we were always in control, if you’re asking why I think we played a level above in the second half, well I think the boys just had some jitters left over from the pre-season and they were feeling more like the killers they are for the final 30 minutes.”

“Coach, big storyline of the day is Brett Hannah getting injured partway through the third quarter and he didn’t return to the game…how serious is the injury and when do you expect Brett to be back in action?”

“Look, Brett’s one of the toughest son of a guns I’ve been lucky to coach, so I think he’ll back back early than a lesser man would be, but yeah, all early signs point to it being a bad one.”

“Can you share some specifics?”

“Well we’ll know more once we have a chance to x-ray and get him really checked out, but I can say he’s throwing shoulder is pretty banged up and I wouldn’t expect to see him for…well probably four games at the least.”

This news set off shocked murmurs in the press room. Brett Hannah, senior star QB for the Broncos, out for at least four games? That meant Hannah was going to miss just about half of the regular season, and that was a problem for LeBois. The reporters clamored over each other as they tried to ask the big question:

“Who will be quarterbacking the Broncos in the meantime…who will be the third ever starting BSU quarterback behind Bobby Dials and Brett Hannah, or would he use the Steve Valentine QB rotation?”

“Look I get that our Bronco fans all across the multiverse are desperate for more information but that really is something for me to sit down with my coaching staff and figure out. Obviously you have contingencies, we have plans for when our plans don’t go according to plan, but it’s hard to game plan for your quarterback going down three quarters into the season. There’s no doubt Michael Monrovia played well tonight when he was called into the game, he did well to find Erik Skarsgård in the end zone and I was impressed with his running ability. But, that being said, I’ll be considering all our options at QB because, at the end of the day, we’re all here to win, and I’ll put out whoever I think gets us the best shot of doing that on any given day.”

“Coach, do you have any thoughts on Alexandria University’s commanding 39-3 victory?”

“Who?”

Prince Pieter's students devise map of constituencies for a democratic New Rotterdam

Anika Vogelman

OESTERSTRAND — In a thesis published Friday by H. Boogard and Sons, Prince Pieter's undergraduates—Jan Schimmelpink (Mathematics) and Schroeder Van Leeuwen (Colonial Governance) announced their delineation of ninety-nine constituencies for a hypothetical Parliamentary system of governance for New Rotterdam.

Following the resignation of Governor-General Godfried Knop upon urging from the patroons of the Dutch central government, the era of New Rotterdam's administration as an asset of the Joint Stock companies seems to be nearing its sunset.

Schimmelpink and Van Leeuwens' plan would reform the existing "symposium" structure of New Rotterdam politics, where conferences are infrequently held by the Governor General to assess the opinions of the colonial populace, the most recent having been in June. As the June symposium demonstrated, where a throng of two thousand spectators rhetorically flailed into the late hours of the humid night, the symposiums have a reputation for chaos and little track record of workable solutions.

The pair accessed taxation records to draw the lines of their constituencies into roughly equivalent chunks of population. Some frontier districts would contain dozens of hamlets across sparsely-populated geographic swathes while others in dense areas of the colony, like downtown New Rotterdam, would be only a few blocks in expanse.

Their plan has not been universally met with applause, especially at the hotbed of nobility that is Prince Pieter's. Van Leeuwen's dorm window was allegedly egged, and some in the university have openly denigrated the "populist" elements of their treatise. According to one anonymous undergraduate, university constables have already broken up three "attempted duels" since the thesis was published. Many at Prince Pieter's fear a cession of their political power to a broad franchise of common folk if the Schimmelpink-Van Leeuwen plan, or any other "democratic" proposal, were to be implemented, and are not without cause to be anxious. According to Dr. Folkert Maas of the political science department, Schimmelpink and Van Leeuwen's assigning of "equal weight" to constituencies in wealthy, noble areas and rural frontier ones would "kneecap" the hold on political power that New Rotterdam noble families currently enjoy. Some of the other proposals under consideration for this transition would create a second, upper house of a New Rotterdam legislature comprised of patroons to "mitigate" the "unrefined instincts" of the "mob class". Schimmelpink and Van Leeuwen did not include this concept in their proposal, with Schimmelpink deriding it to this newspaper as a "gutless power grab".

Nonetheless, many Prince Pieter's students are not worried. As Jochem, a third-year, described to me: "for the price of one semester at Prince Pieter's, I could buy two hundred votes."

H. Boogard and Sons, a North New Rotterdam publishing house with longstanding ties to university publishing, was unbothered by the on-campus criticism. "H.B.&.S. are not in the business of self-censorship," read the response to my request for comment. In the past, they have indeed printed populist, papist, and even pro-British content with few economic consequences. "The terrifying sells," according to the publishers' spokesperson.

As for Jan Schimmelpink and Schroeder Van Leeuwen, they plan to continue studying for their upcoming finals and are trying to ignore the newfound attention, positive and otherwise. "It was just a thesis for a ColGov course," says Schroeder Van Leeuwen. "It's not earth-shattering."

We'll soon find out if he's right. ■
The Governor-General calls upon citizens of New Rotterdam to report any pro-British activity. Stay vigilant!

Tell us if this sounds familiar, the mighty Raynor University Rockets take on what on paper is an overmatched opponent at home to open the season and somehow are overcome by that opponent. It has happened so often now that it is almost a tradition and as the final seconds ticked off in the nation's capital at the end of the first week of this new NSCF season, it was happening again as the new kids to the block in the form of University of Raukieff had come to Raynor City and toppled the Rockets. A two point victory in a massive shootout in their first game is something that will not be forgotten for the visitors, however for the Rockets it was a bitter but familiar taste for the team. Without the great Odin Sorbo there to guide the team towards a victory, the team faltered and fell at the opening hurdle once more in a game that should have been a walk in the park and a bit of a tune up for the more difficult games to come like the first Battle for the Royal Sabre or the games against the University of Mancodas and Maximus Rochester Institute from Poafmersia when the cross divisional games happen in the middle of conference play.

Andy Magnusson, the veteran two time championship coach of this team, now has the monumental task of getting his team back and ready to go once more even though they are once more behind the eight ball and looking at potentially losing two of its first three games again, as Mar Sara Tech looks to be going from strength to strength. What has made Andy the coach that he is today and why he was selected as the coach of the national team is the fact that he has been able to take this early season blows to his teams and build them back up to being championship quality teams by the time that the playoffs begin. It has been the ability to take these losses and use them to motivate the team to be better than what they are, to make them take the loss on the chin and keep on moving. It would be all too easy to be upset in a game like which happened this past week and see it as a complete derailment of what he wants and believes his team is capable of. That bounceback is what the team is going to need as that tally in the loss column does put them at a disadvantage, not just in the chase for the divisional and conference crown but also the playoff race as a home loss looks quite bad in the OSPI.

What looked good though, what can the Rockets look back at that opening game against Raukieff and see that there is something to build upon, fixing the areas where there was the issues but focusing on the good? Well that is sophmore running back Tobias Svendsen, who had a career day against the newcomers with a hundred twelve yards on the ground and another eighty-four through the air, showing the dual threat capabilities that made him such a highly sought after recruit coming out of the Magnus Academy. Electric speed, great cutbacks, the ability to have patience and follow the blocks as they are established were all on displayed with his near two hundred all purpose yards and two touchdowns. There was a lot of debate about the best way to use Tobias, if he would not be better used as a slot reciever running check down routes and being a bit of a security blanket for the quarterback, as he had soft hands and the all the skills to make defenders miss once he has the ball in his hands. With the quarterback situation a bit of a question mark this season, though Ella Solberg had a decent game in her first start, it is going to likely be the running back who will be the reason the Rockets will have success this season, if they are able to turn it all around as they have done so in the past.

The defense is going to have to get better though, yet it was the defensive unit that was always going to be the weakest link for the team as the offense's way of playing the game doesn't really hold on to possession enough to give the defense plenty of time to rest between possessions. When the Rockets have been at their best, it has been when the defense would bend and not break, allowing just field goals instead of touchdowns on the opponents scoring drives. Finding ways to get stops in the redzone or having the ballhawk secondary create turnovers at opportune times to shift the momentum back in the Rockets failure. Unfortunately for the team, neither of those things happened in the opening game and they allowed Raukieff's offense to essentially do whatever they wanted and offered little in the way of resistance. If the team plays like that in two weeks time when they take on the Raiders, Tech is going to have an absolute field day against their defense and score points like it is going out of style. While losing to Tech in Week 3 is not the end of the season, if they fail to put up a fight and be competitive then it would be, as history has shown that if they can at least be competitive it gives them the momentum to run through the middle of their schedule and gain back ground to force the Raiders themselves to be perfect in order to keep them at bay. The Rockets will be hoping that their brilliant coaching staff can make quick work and that it was merely the case of yet another first week bout of nerves that plagues the team.

The Raiders though, there was no nerves from their opening fixture to this NSCF season as they traveled away from the Empire and put the absolute smackdown on Tophat University, making some wonder if the Raiders have something against dapper headware the way they effortlessly and efficiently carved their way through the opposition. Transfer Kirai Englefond showed poise under pressure of their first start with their new team and put up an efficient performance of twenty-three out of twenty-nine for two hundred forty-seven yards and three touchdowns, with no turnovers. As far as debuts go, it was about as well as the coaching staff or the gunslinger could have hoped for and with the Rockets failing to hold serve with their home opener, it really feels like the division is there for them to win for the third time in four seasons. Returning twenty starters from a team that won the championship last season has clearly set up this team to be in the mix again and provided that they can avoid any injuries, there is no reason to doubt that they will not. The team gets to show if they are the real deal though as for the second straight week they are on the road and heading to New Tamarind to take on Raukieff. The Raiders have a far better team to wear down the newcomers and give their defense the rest it will need to slow down what looks like it a highly explosive offense but as the first week showed, the Raiders defense looks more than ready for the challenge.

Season 13 Champions: Staramara Tech High School (MVP: OLB Freya Odinsdóttir)
Season 14 Champions: Staramara Tech High School (MVP: QB Amy Skylar)

Black Conference
Mt. Niar High School 34–22 Lanar High School
Urrhed High School 10–30 Myana Northwestern High School
West Shantarr High School 30–12 Staramara Tech High School

The deepest conference in the nation begins with a shocker: It turns out that Maas van der Voorde is ready to go out of the gate. Four touchdowns through the air against the vaunted Rhinos secondary, with Esther Pott being his favorite receiver, puts a damper on Lanar's #1 billing. Myana Northwestern heads to the Vipers and destroy them - Kacper Grenda running roughshod - while the defending champions also suffer a shock defeat as West Shantarr, the only team in the Black Conference to not even rank in the Preseason Top Fifteen, come through in the second half. Their biggest question mark is the play of one Leena Kadian, their Freshman Quarterback - but when she only has to throw 191 yards and a score because Michiel van Vielemans has two picks off of Amy Skylar's replacement in Modrico Stalla, it's a good day for the Scorpions. A day of upsets for the best conference in the country.

Blue Conference
Crix Technical School 17–21 Pelar High School
South Sanar High School 19–16 North Sanar High School
Wirr Tsi School for the Gifted 20–3 Lhor Central High School

A trip to the Blue Conference - where nobody was ranked in the Preseason Top Fifteen. The Sanar Derby was played in the first week - and it really played up to its billing. Aina Wirtanen and the Armadillos strike first with a nice strike to Keeva Alsott, but the Riflemen respond with a Fardhe Rosenqvist throw to Makino Iku; they trade field goals by halftime, and then defense takes over. Victoria Anderson hits the game-winner from fifty-one yards out as time expires on a perfect Sanar evening as the Armadillos get the first leg. Pelar outshines Crix Technical in the last three minutes as Ermenegilda Caravetta runs in it from three yards, and Wirr Tsi School for the Gifted throttles Lhor Central as Kawata Ichiha and Tayson Jackson feast on the Flying Jellyfish offense.

Green Conference
Gurshan High School 17–0 East Omnio High School
J. H. Yadasky High School 20–24 Umbar Hills High School
Chromatik Army High School 26–20 West Omnio High School

Welcome back, Gurshan football! They play gritty, tough, defense-first - and the first victims are the Geomancers. Park Do-Hwan and Marjoleine Reitema feast on the offensive line, and Canna Gorlen, the Drills' Quarterback, do just enough. Umbar Hills outlasts the Heroes of J. H. Yadasky High School's return to gridiron football as Ayla Roghein runs for a seventy-three yard game-winner with three minutes to go. Chromatik Army High School's first game after Jair Lleyamana's departure ends with a dramatic late-game winner against the Spectral Monks of West Omnio as Frianca Posse settles in in the Fourth Quarter, finalizing with a toss to Rowan Gwen with less than thirty seconds remaining. Welcome to High School Gridiron.

Red Conference
Tihon Elite Academy 36–16 Staramara Athletics Academy
East Shantarr High School 17–10 Pùr Heights High School
East Rhoni High School 23–17 West Rhoni High School

In a game between two Top Fifteen schools, the Fog Wall of Tihon Elite Academy pulled away from the Rangers of Staramara Athletics Academy in the second half. Quarterback Kimberley Decraene found Tight End Arnau Bescós and Wide Receiver Hendrik-Jan Dalvoorde for a touchdown each, and the Fog Wall defense, led by Émilienne Rochette, clamped down on the rushing attack of Ryin Nakt and Seth Gorello. East Shantarr overcomes a rough start of committing back-to-back turnovers in the First Quarter to clip past the Destroyers - Carson Becker, their Junior Running Back, doing the heavy lifting of running for 151 yards and two scores. Bénédicte Spanghero struggled, but Becker did it well enough. In the Rhoni derby, the Kayaks, led by Freshman Quarterback Mayla Jones, managed to hold onto their thirteen-point lead late as the lack of a proven Quarterback by the Warhawks managed to bite them. Welcome back to Gridiron for the two of them, too.

White Conference
The Chromatik Institute 45–23 City of Lorentine High School
Vitoron School of Charge 40–31 Cheonju Korean Institute
Franscesca Larriet-Cortes High School 22–36 Capital District Academy

The other of the elite conferences - but a bit more of parity. The Chromatik Institute, led by one Emmanuel de Silva, has 321 yards throwing and 141 yards rushing in a win over City of Lorentine - accounting for five of the six touchdowns that they have. The Wizards hung around for a half, but struggled late. Eyla Grotten, the new Quarterback for the Vitoron School of Charge, outduel Kirsi-Marja Sibelius for a shock win - though having three very good wide receivers also helps. Capital District Academy has Aksel Welhaven run for 181 yards and three scores as Kingsley Dillard doesn't have to do much with the ground game shining against the Martyrs - though Ewy Giandi did play well for a team that is still trying to find their Quarterback.

Larry Cunningham eats high-pressure situations for breakfast

One game.

It seriously took one game and we already have our Jerry Atkinson replacement for the next four seasons.

As the title suggests, Larry Cunningham is HIM. He eats high-pressure situations for breakfast, like this one against UNSJJ, and might be the future of a program forged by Jerry Atkinson. Followed by his legendary performance in just week 1 of NSCF 33, only potentially rivaled by Atkinson's performance in the THRILLER of a game that was the NSCF 30 MinCon CCG, Cunningham's prospects and jersey sales could not be higher. Craig Kelly is known to let the early season get out of hand a bit on him, so it's both a good sign and a bad sign that UNSJJ is fighting back this hard this early. While this does prove Cunningham's worth as a QB and Kelly's surprising composure from the sidelines to stay competent, it also shows the scary reality wherein the Boreal has a new competitor vying for the top spot. Overall, is it good the Jays win this? Absolutely yes. Is it good how close it was? Not really, no.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's actually dive into this one shall we? Somehow, some way, Craig Kelly and Larry Cunningham manage to pull off a comeback win in week ONE, not even to mention being down 14 entering the 4th quarter. The Jays and the Toucans traded blows early, as Cunningham would find Jerry Atkinson's old pal Kabe Heaton for his first career touchdown and UCP's first of the season. Ponton of Nova Calania would respond a short while later, tying it with a 15 yarder to Hai Rong Dong. Ponton would find Poulette for UNSJJ's first lead of the game as well in the second quarter, before Craig Kelly would exercise his core virtue of not running outside of the opposing 20 by immediately pounding the rock with Haliburton for 7. Laviolette would respond with a rushing TD of his own, allowing UNSJJ to pull away before half, even with a Gustafsson 51-yarder in the mix.

Up four, UNSJJ would continue to extend the lead, taking an easy 33-yard chipshot after a time-exhausting drive to take it back to 7. Ponton would come back immediately again to ruin UCP's fun, finding Mia McDuffie in the endzone to go up two scores entering the fourth, stalling yet another UCP drive in the process. Back against the wall, trapped into a corner, Craig Kelly pulls out his final trap card: the "Cunningham Gambit". When faced with a two-score deficit, a flimsy defense at best, and 15 minutes on the clock, Craig Kelly will respond the only way he knows how, by saying, "I like those odds,". And execute the gambit perfectly he did. Cunningham would immediately take action, finding Wallace in the endzone less than 30 seconds into the quarter to make it a one score game. Unfortunately for him, the UCP defense would force a missed FG after a long, winding drive to waste time, only to stall out and give the ball back with 8 minutes on the clock. The Jays would yet again fail to stop the bleeding, again barely forcing a doink to give UCP the ball back on their own 30 with 3:00 left. Craig Kelly would go do what he does best, and somehow not waste time in the one situation you want to chew clock. Fortunately for the Jays, this also means scoring. Larry Cunningham, ice in his veins, would find Kabe Heaton in style to deadlock the day at 31. Only, this wouldn't deadlock the game. Enter Craig Kelly. The "Possession Philanthropist" himself would put his metaphorical nuts on the metaphorical table by going for two. With two minutes and some change left. To take a ONE point lead. Again, inexplicably, it works. 32-31 Jays, and that's all she wrote when you have a fired up defense to go stall the UNSJJ drive.

Once again, kind of a scare to have it be this close with UNSJJ in week one, but it's comforting to at least know you're not the only team in your division. Staying at home again, the Jays get to go face UNSJJ's cousin, Nowa Kalanianska, to potentially support an early advantage for a title game run for the fourth consecutive season. Although, if that's what Nowa Kalanianska's countrymen can pull off, this could easily go south if the Aztecs are anything like the Toucans. We'll just have to see what Larry Cunningham eats for lunch next week, then.
